Dude you should be so so so so so proud, literally one of the best pieces I've ever read. It's the angst and complex characterization of Baldwin's Giovanni's Room meets the research behind The Alienist (the book, obvi- haven't actually seen the show yet). I adore how you maintained the characters' personal values even though I don't like them most of the time, and I now know way too much about the military in general because I would wikipedia something every third sentence. (Also thanks for that because coincidentally I'm working on a research project on how low-level fighter jet training affects marine animal behaviour, and I actually passed my first oral with flying colours because of the random knowledge I have acquired while reading/because of your fic.) That being said, I desperately want a physical copy on my bookshelf- would you ever feel comfortable distributing one or letting us go get it printed professionally? If not, I totally understand and am more than happy with what we have access to now! Seriously, thank you- it's incredible.

3. thank you for the compliment but i am literally BEGGING you guys not to take anything i say/claim in this fic about the military to be true. there are certainly elements of the truth but many of the details i literally just made up. or altered to make plot sense (see IRST discussion ch 9, IRST was SUGGESTED by Boeing in 2007/8, not implemented until 2010ish). so much of the plot simply would not happen in real life. i can make a whole post about this sometime if people are interested cause there is actually so much I could say about real life accuracy in this fic/implications of real life shit…

100 Cyberpunk City Events

This is the fourth ttrpg event generator I've done (and this may actually be the last one of these I do (though there’s an appeal to doing a Steampunk or Western one…)). This one has the most changes and rewrites from previous iterations. I tried to capture as much of the cyberpunk vibe as I could-- probably leaning more towards traditional depictions than some of the amazing new wave cyberpunk literature (especially PoC creator works and some anime).

This table can be used for most near-future games, but especially cyberpunk ones (The Veil, Cyberpunk RED, Eclipse Phase, Hard Wired Island, and so on). A cleverer person than I could probably integrate this with the Fantasy or Modern Urban Fantasy lists to use with Shadowrun.

The post has the full list. As with the previous lists, these are released Creative Commons 4.0 Share-Alike. You can find a Google Doc with the list here which you can copy to modify or make a pdf. Note that none of these lists were created using generative AI and the text here and in all lists is not to be used with generative AI.

Hello everyone, and welcome to a remastered Masterlist of Quantum Leap Novels included on the Web Archive of Archive.org!

This is not a definitive list -- yet-- of every single Quantum Leap Novel on the archive; that post can be found here. from @fandomjoy ! Instead, this will be a WIP Masterpost of the "Remastered" Quantum Leap Novels, as they're uploaded them to the archive with the help of some volunteers !

What does "remastered" mean in this sense? Well, to start, all of the novels originally on the archive were just PDFs. and by PDFs I mean almost raw book scans, sephia background with black text and everything. Great for finding them in the first place, but not very accessible for people who need larger text, more contrast, or need some kind of audio format.

So, the "remastered" Quantum Leap novels that are linked in this post have been painstakingly edited from those original PDFs into actual, readable, editable Word Documents that were then exported into EPUBs (Generic ebook format, widely used), MOBI (old kindle format) AZW3, (new kindle format(?)) and clean PDFs of black text on a blank white background.

So now, you can download the file format of your choice; everything except PDF should have the option on your ereader or ereader app (ReadEra is my top Android recc, and Calibre for PC) to increase the font size, color, font style, and a ton of background and color options for more accessible reading!

Can The Solar System Be Created From Light Beam Energy?

THE SOLAR SYSTEM CREATION

The solar system is created from one energy- in details- the planets matters and their distances are created from energy of one light beam – and this light beam moves by a velocity 1.16 million km per second - the energy is consumed in the space and time creation- that caused to decrease velocity and the rest energy after creation is found in a light beam its velocity 300000 km/s (the known speed of light) 

The space and time creation are done by the equation (1.16/0.3) x 2π = 24.3

The equation tells, the space is created in curved lines (2π) and the time is created based on the solar day (24 hours).

(Please note –this is one light beam before the creation its velocity was 1.16 million km and after the creation this velocity be 300000 km/s)

This is the basic information in the solar system design-

The solar system needs to create a stationary point relative to the wave motion- by that – two velocities will be found which are (v1= the wave its velocity 300000 km/s) and (v2= Zero= the stationary point velocity relative to the wave motion) – these two velocities produce a relative motion with different velocity 300000 km/s– this relative motion is the solar system design cornerstone

Now – let's create this stationary point in the solar system motion

The system uses two procedures which are-

The wave its velocity 300000 km/s revolves around a point in space (any point in space), the revolution motion creates 2 equal velocities on both sides of the revolution- the two velocities are equal in value and opposite in direction- their total be equal Zero-means- the revolution motion causes to create a stationary point in the center of the revolution. 

The second procedure

The previous idea is correct theoretically- but –the velocity 300000 km/s is a huge one and to decrease it to Zero velocity this is a complex process – for that- the wave (300000 km/s) created small waves with low velocities- these are The Planets- (The planet is a small wave moves by low velocity relative to the unified wave its velocity 300000 km/s) 

Why Are These Small Waves Required?

Because the velocity 300000 km/s is decreased to Zero by using these small waves and their low velocities- the low velocities are used as steps to decrease the unified wave velocity (300000 km/s) to be (Zero)- this process decreases the velocity gradually from 300000 km/s to Zero depending on these small waves velocities (the planets velocities)   

Shortly – the solar system has one complete system of velocities, Starting from Zero and reaching to 300000 km/s where the planets velocities are the steps between the two velocities – let's prove that here

300000 km = 7.1 x (205.8)^2 where

7.1 is Lorentz length contraction effect for velocity 297000 km/s (99% of speed of light)

205.8 km/s = the 9 planets velocities total (176 km/s) + the Earth moon velocity

(The moon velocity =29.8 km/s = the Earth velocity because they revolve together)

Why does the data use the squared value (205.8)^2?

Let's answer in following

The planets are geometrical points on the same light beam and move with its motion- for that- the planets velocities rates creates rates of time– for example-  Mercury velocity = 1.6 the Earth velocity- that means – one hour of Mercury clock = 1.6 hours of the Earth clock- Why??

Because Mercury and the Earth are carried by the same one light beam- the light moves one motion and passes one distance in one period of time- by that Mercury and the Earth have to move this same motion and to pass this same distance in this same period of time- but the two planets velocities are different- for that- the planets use different rates of time based on their velocities rates and by that the planets move equal distances in the same period of time – that explains why the planets motions use different rates of time.

Let's return to the equation- 300000 km = 7.1 x (205.8)^2- the wave moves relative to the stationary point (its velocity is Zero approximately – in fact it equal 1 km/s)  

The stationary point will be the sun

The motion be– one wave its velocity 205.8 km/s revolves around the Sun, where the sun moves by a velocity 1 km/s-

A rate of time is created (1 = 205.8) means

One Second of the wave clock =205.8 Seconds of the sun clock

But- the energy wave is reflected in the solar system (I proved that in my paper) and that caused to reflect the players- as a result

One Second of the Sun clock =205.8 Seconds of the wave clock

The wave (205.8 km/s) moves in 205.8 seconds a distance =42253 km

300000 km = 7.1 x 42253 km

That proves the planets velocities are defined to decrease the velocity 300000 km/s to Zero.

this is my current bsd collection with (almost) every piece of media from bsd LOL, a little bit of backstory:

i have a thing for data collecting (I'm a data hoarder hiding as a data preservationist basically 😭), and l frequently have like.. episodes? where i become convinced that [insert media here] will be erased forever and i have to have it physically to know it existed, usually at night and just with things I'm into. it struck bsd last night so i barely slept because i was collecting it all lmao. my hard drive #struggles everyday but i don't like to delete anything because yk, hoarding

almost all of this goes thanks to bsd-bibliophile's website, and i usually share anything I've collected amongst friends (but never the light novels where the translator asks you don't distribute, obviously).

While a lot of it attaches to me having to have media physically that is already widely distributed online, i also love collecting underground media on promotional DVDs, certain game editions and CDs etc (an example of this is my youtube @hatsuneuploads where i uploaded all of a special edition of the DTM magazine for the release of rin and len - a previously (presumably) not on the internet interview with some voice providers and a cubase official was uploaded by me which i was super happy to have done!! i also uploaded the DVD so anybody willing to find out what some of the songs are (over 50)/translate the interviews that would be very cool!)

irritatingly, a lot of the uploads for the light novels and most of the manga were in pdf format, when for light novels epub is the most widely accepted format (some were uploaded in epub which i am working on finding and downloading) and manga i much prefer cbz files (i might look into converting them).

I am also into book binding, so it is definitely on the table for me to book bind some of the light novels (but i kind of find issue with it personally when i can support the official English physical releases, so i might just book bind the way i like AFTER i have the money to purchase the official books)

also to note i would absolutely die for the manga set but i don't have the money rn 😭😭😭😭 its ok tho i will one day LOL

anyway its not much but i just like to talk about these things a lot cuz its interesting yk!!! and i'm such a bad fiend right now, I've been hooked on it since 2019 and it kind of comes and goes in waves lmao

“Your schedule for the day,” says Sedene as she drops a folio onto Neuvillette’s desk.

He hums, finishing his note, the last letter curled at the end by his penmanship. “Ah, thanks Sedene.” She nods and keeps standing there, bobbing back and forth on her heels. Neuvillette looks at her, pen held over paper. “Yes?” he prompts.

“I… well, Monsieur Nuevillete, if you need me to hold your appointments around mid-afternoon—”

“Why would I need you to hold my appointments?” He pauses, thinking. “I don’t have standing appointments today, now that I think of it.”

“Aside from The Duke, of course.”

Neuvillette knows, for sure, that he doesn’t have a meeting with Wriothesley. It’s a point of contention at this point. They’ve both been too busy to even share a cup of tea, let alone handle anything work-related. Wriothesley has been sending his reports by way of low-level Fortress guards, and Neuvillette has sent his replies via agents of the Marechaussee Phantom. A nightmare. Neuvillette finds himself mildly agitated by the separation, far too used to his mate’s antics.

Wait. 

He clears his throat, choosing to ignore the intrusive thought. “The Duke?” he asks.

“Oh? His Grace didn’t inform you?”

He did not. Neuvillette rubs his chin. “It must be of importance,” he replies. “I see. Well. No need to clear my schedule. I don’t think he’ll demand much of my time.”

Sedene blinks, her face morphing into something more akin to amusement. Neuvillette, decidedly, does not like that look, but says nothing, waving her off. She curtsies and leaves, and Neuvillette knows that he won’t hear the end of her teasing about it later.

But. He smiles behind his palm. At least he’ll see Wriothesley. That alone makes it worth it.

The thing about it is that Wriothesley doesn’t schedule meetings through official channels. 

He’s a regular sight at the Opera Epiclese, coming and going as he pleases, the only man allowed to barge into Neuvillette’s office without knocking first—something that still annoys Sedene. Wriothesley groans, dragging a hand down his face. “You know how busy it’s been. With the Archon dead and you all…” He waves at Neuvillette vaguely. “Primordial waters, people freaking out about the stability of Fontaine, blah, blah— it’s all a recipe for a nightmare. Headache-inducing. I’m drowning in reports.”

Neuvillette finally looks at him overtop the stack of paper in his hand. “Yes,” he says dryly. “Reports.”

Wriothesley snorts. “Right. Sorry. Anyway, as you know it’s been impossible to find even a moment to come see you. I miss our midday smooches—”

“Wriothesley.”

“Right, right. Work.” Wriothesley grins and does nothing to imply that he’s there for such a thing. 

Neuvillette tilts his head. “Wriothesley? What was so important?”

Wriothesley pouts. “You don’t want to see me?”

“I—” Neuvillette pinches the bridge of his nose. “Of course, I want to see you.” In so many ways. His being craves him, set entirely off-kilter by his absence.

“Oh good. Do you know how long it’s been since we last kissed?”

“Wriothesley.”

“Last time I’ll mention it, I swear.” 

A lie. They both know it. Wriothesley will not leave Neuvillette’s office without demanding one as a go-away present, to which he’ll give in all too easily. He’s missed it too; Wriothesely’s taste of tea, his scent of leather and grease, and his weight against him. 

What a distracting thought. “Calling for a meeting,” Neuvillette then says. “Did something happen?”

“Somewhere, I’m sure.”

“Did you need my signature on a report?”

“You’ve approved everything I’ve asked for.”

“Then what is it that you need, Wriothesley?”

Wriothesley looks far too casual as he leans against the edge of Nevuillette’s desk, arms crossed over his chest. “Sweetheart—”

“Nothing good ever comes after you call me that.”

“I’d beg to differ. Good things always come after calling you that.” That gives Neuvillette pause. Wriothesley watches him with a half-grin spread across his face. “Oh? Have you figured it out?”

“Wriothesley, surely you didn’t use a work meeting to cover lecherous intent—”

“I definitely came here for a booty call.”

They are, obviously, not talking about budget reports. Neuvillette laughs softly and scoots his chair forward until he’s close, reaching out to smooth his hands down Wriothesley's sides. “Eventually, Sedene will crack the code of that… particular vernacular.”

“She cracked it ages ago. Are you going to come up here or not? I haven’t kissed you in weeks.”

Neuvillette could. And oh, he wants to but there’s something to be said about restraint. Instead, he tugs Wriothesley's shirt from his trousers, hiking the hem just high enough to reveal the rise of a hip bone. 

“What’re you doing there?” 

“Is this not what you asked for?” Neuvillette glances up to find Wriothesley grinning back down at him.

Which is how Sedene finds him. Another glance at the clock before she sniffs. “I think if you clean up quickly and focus on the budget reports, you can probably leave a little bit early. And maybe even take the day off tomorrow.”

Neuvillette hides a grin behind his palm. “Is that so?”

“Even Chief Justices need occasional vacations. As well as Prison Administrators, apparently. I’ll send word to Sigewinne.”

“Thank you, Sedene.”

She waves it off with a grunt, closing his office door behind her. 

A mess is left behind. Ink stains his rug and he’ll have to make new copies of several reports. Never before has Neuvillette felt an urgency to finish up his tasks, but he does these things briskly, his mind pulled into a thousand different places. 

Neuvillette does leave early—earlier than expected because he chooses to forgo his work for the day, far too distracted to focus on any of it. 

Later, when Wriothesley opens the door of his quarters, he leans against the frame, a grin splitting his face. “So, I heard from a little birdie that you and I have the day off tomorrow. Wanna see how many times I can squeeze in an ‘I love you’?”

Not that Neuvillette has ever felt like a stranger, but this time it truly feels like coming home.

Hello I saw your tags on the internet safety post and tbh I just have to ask: do you know of any free resources where I can learn about internet safety? I've only recently started learning about how to protect my information and devices and could really use the help. Just like, online resources or tips if you have any?

Hi! Thank you for reaching out! I am happy to share with you some of the tips and ressources I've picked up. This list is non-exhaustive but it's a good start and I'll link some pdfs and websites I think resume well the actions you can take to have a better internet hygiene. I'll list them under the cut.

If you want, I can also do one about recruiting tactics, online radicalisation and information warfare (and how to thread carefully around it)

So tips on how to protect yourself online here we go!

We know we're annoyed when a website asks us to have a password with at least 10 characters, one capital letter, one punctuation, etc. but it's actually for a reason. Your password is the first safeguard to your account. Don't make it easy to crack.

Try and use an different password for everything. Note it in a physical notebook if you have to, or use passwords managers online (but don't stock them all on the same). Downside though, they can be expensive.

Multifactor authetification. Activate it if you can. You'll get used to it.

Compartementalizing. Have multiple email adresses for different purposes. This way, if one is compromised, you don't lose everything. However, this is only efficient if you have different passwords for everything. If you have the same password for all, then it loses its purpose

Log off your social medias after using them. Log off everything when you're done using them. Lock your computer after you're done using it. It's annoying, we're used to have everything quick, but again, don't make it easy for people with bad intentions to access your stuff.

If you are dealing with important documents, back them up every night on an external drive AND on a cloud. This way, if you catch a ransomware that asks for money in return of your documents, you still have your stuff and you won't get extorted.

Public wifi are never safe. Ask yourself, do you really need to check your bank account in Starbucks? Do you really need to make that credit card payment now? Lower the chances of having your info stlen by not waving them around. Wait for a personal and secure network to do it.

VPNs are good but you shouldn't rely 100% on them to secure your stuff. You don't know which IP you're borrowing. If you do have a VPN, shop for it. Don't take the first one you see. I personally use the bitdefender one but I don't use it for sensitive matters.

Try and program your browsing history to be deleted every night

Please please please don't watch adult stuff on your work computer. It's a gateway to viruses and malwares and also prime blackmail material.

In the same vein, don't bring work material on home computers if you are not explicitely allowed to. Because that's data stealing. And if that data is corrupted on your home computer, you'll be in trouble

Y'all have probably received a lot of fraudulent emails by now, like saying there's a federal warrant against you for [insert terrible crime here]. Once upon a time they were super easy to rule out because they were terribly written, but they're getting smarter about that. So here's what to look out for:

They will not be adressing you by name

There WILL be a time aspect, they'll make it seem like it's urgent or give you a deadline to pressure you

They'll want you to click a link (don't click it)

There won't be a phone number or office address (ways to verify they're legit)

In doubt, search the actual phone number of the agency they're claiming to be and verify by yourself (lots of countries have anti fraud centers, you can ask them too)

Talking about fishy, if you're talking to someone you know and they ask you for money in an unusual way, give them a call to verify. There's a hacking technique called harpooning, in which a third party intercepts your communications and modify it. So you might not be talking to your friend or colleague.

Do your computer updates. It's not just giving you new features it's also updating firewalls and operating systems against known vulnerabilities. The more updates you skip, the more your computer becomes a sitting duck ready to be exploited

Your antivirus is not an impenetrable wall. Sometimes good malwares slips under its detection. Good indications you've been infected is slower internet than usual and battery draining faster than usual. (malware working and using your processor capabilities)

Not all viruses and malware will leave with a powerwash. It has been seen that the whole computer had to be decommissionned (which is also why you should back up your data)

Cookies will track your activity. Install Privacy Badger. It's great! They'll explain to you step by step what they're doing and why. They're very transparent which I really like.

Adblock too. I use Ublock origin.

If you can, avoid Chrome. They're horrible pivacy wise. Firefox is a much better option.

Read the privacy policy of the websites you use. No really. Actually do it. Know what you agreed about.

Disable your bluetooth and GPS if you're not using them. Not only will you save battery but you will limit entry point to your device

Avoid posting personal information online. This one should be obvious but it's not apparently. Everything can be used for doxxing or blackmail.

Obviously there is many more thing you can do, those are just really the basics. I know it might seem like a lot, but incorporating them in your routine will make it automatic overtime and save you lots of stress. Here's some ressources you can check out:

This website offers free courses on cyber hygiene. While I haven't used it personally, it does seem legit and well structured. It also comes in 13 languages.

For those still in school: ask your IT department about cyber security measures and ressources. More and more colleges are starting to include mandatory formations on cyber security after a wave of attacks that targeted university systems and network worldwide

Your country's governement website probably has a section about cybersecurity and the laws framing it. Go check it out to learn about what you can do if you're victim to a cyber attack and which authorities are competent to handle it

Did Einstein Misuse Lorentz transformation? 

Let's put the dilemma here

Lorentz transformation are 3 equations but Einstein used 2 equations only for his space-time geometry and removed the mass equation and didn't use it- where the three equations depended on the same concept.

All scientists agreed for Einstein illogical behavior! And no one criticized him- why?   

Because no one imagined the mass can be defined by the motion- means- the motion must be found before the mass creation and that would destroy Newton theory of the mass gravity-  let's review Lorentz transformation.

Lorentz transformation tells if a particle moves by high velocity motion, this particle length will be contracted, its mass will be increased and its time will be dilated.

Let's analyze these changes in following

Some people tell No real change is done for the particle real dimensions and data but these are illusions of measurements– based on that- -Lorentz transformation must measure illusions-

I refuse this opinion because

The Physics Is The Measurements Science And What's Measured Is The Fact

If no real changes are done we can't understand how the problem of Michelson and Morelly experiment is solved- also- we can't understand why the synchronous events in one frame can't be synchronous in another (as Einstein stated) where no real change is done for any data.

If Particle own data are measured correctly while it moves by my motion velocity and these measurements are suffered from illusions because the particle moves by high velocity motion relative to my motion velocity that means (I'm the universe reference point)

The whirlpool dimensions are defined by the water motion - for example- we have a whirlpool its diameter is (2 meters)- this diameter is defined by the sea water motion velocity, its pressure and other motion features- by that- the water motion analysis explains how the whirlpool dimensions are created

Also- the whirlpool is created but the creation requirements are needed every day- means- even if this whirlpool is found since years it can be changed immediately if the water motion features are changed- means- the whirlpool creation process is NOT a historical one.

Also - the matter is similar to a creature muscle, the muscle is found based on the blood motion and without this motion the muscle can be changed or removed.

That explains where's Einstein mistake- if he could change its classical vision for the matter nature he could put the mass on the space-time coordinates and Lorentz mass equation would be used also with the two other equations he used.
