anyway photographer!shen yuan bc i got to take pretty pics of gorgeous landscapes earlier and now im considering to shift to an art major

sy likes taking pictures of his siblings and parents. it isn't for any deep reason like recording their most cherished memories to look back on in the future; he just likes taking pictures. his parents got him an expensive camera meant for professional photography with accompanying lessons, and sy absolutely loved it.

he didn't do much outside of photographing his family and friends and whatever caught his eye— he wasn't planning on using it as a side hustle or starting a business or anything. he did, however, create a social media account to share his best works. it did not have a large following or anything; it was just a space for sy to share the things he's passionate about.

sy did make sure that it was very, very far away from his peerless cucumber account, bc he's not going to bring his literary criticisms and analyses of objectively trashy novels to his carefully curated, beautiful artwork.

he is content with that, until his meimei begs him to help her friend with a photoshoot. an up and coming model, apparently, whose photographers dipped from the face of the earth and back-up photographers unavailable due to sickness. his meimei suggested him, bc sy is a professional photographer, just unemployed.

sy has spoiled his sister as much as he could. naturally, he accepts.

the model— going by the name of liu su mian hua— thanks him when he arrived at the set. it's a photoshoot with historical and wuxia elements, so miss liu is wearing a hanfu from her sponsor with a sword and a fan as props. sy's nerdiness and inspiration kicks in and he takes the pictures with gusto, focused on taking the most perfect picture he can.

he and miss liu are both happy by the end of the shoot. sy doesn't think that it would happen again, but it does. apparently, miss liu appreciated how he focused on the shoot itself rather than making passes at her. since sy is... well, an unemployed twenty-something year old with pretty much nothing to do, he accepts whenever miss liu requests him as the photographer.

he meets her brother three photoshoots later, who is as beautiful as she is. he seems mistrusting of sy at first, before slowly warming up. sy offers to take pictures of them both (they look so beautiful! so gorgeous! flawless!) and smiles so much at the results. the siblings are photogenic, and easily understands his instructions. truly the best subjects sy can hope for!

Did I make an au just for a rarepair? Yes, but heres my idea of a shen twin au

In my version Shen Yuan transmigrates into the body of 5 yr old Shen Shi, twin of Shen Jiu. It is very important to note that in this au SJ and YQ refer to SY with "A-Shi" and "Xiao-Shi" respectively, and SY takes up the identity of Shen Shi. SY is also fully cognizant when he migrates so he has the complete thoughts of a 20~ yr old while in the body of a 5 yr old. This causes some major dysphoria and also anger at the helplessness of being in a body that does not fit him and also the fact that he has no social nor physical power because he is a child. He also views SJ and YQ as his little brothers even if he is actually the youngest physically.

He eventually is taken in my the Qiu family alongside his brother. It is when SJ starts to bond with Qiu Haitang that it finally pieces together that his brother is going to be SQQ and grieves for the events that he knows is going to happen to him. The building rage and anger at the helplessness of the situation culminates in Shen Yuan starting the massacre with SJ instantly jumping in and causing the majority of deaths. When SJ carries out the unconscious body of Qiu Haitang SY realizes the opportunity in front of him. He knows that she is going to be the kickstarter of his brother's downfall and in that moment grabs the nearest weapon, and with a heavy heart, kills her as SJ watches in shock. He turns to SJ telling him "You can't leave any witnesses, they always eventually spill" before both run off. I dont know what to do with the Wu Yanzi so I'm ignoring it for now. And im also unsure if he gets a system but we'll see.

Eventually they meet up with Yue Qi now Yue Qingyuan and the anger SJ has towards him. SY is also angry but its more so for SJ's sake than his own. The two of them become a part of Cang Qiong sect and while SJ is taken in by the Qing Jing peak, SY is taken in by the beast and flora peak (which I do not have named). They both become head disciples and later peak lords. SY also is able to clock that SQH is not the original version due to airplane saying a modern phrase and a friendship forms. SY is also the one to start biting and defending his brother when QQQ or LQG take potshots at him. It's while they are still disciples that SY meets Su Xiyan while hes on a mission and they worked together for a bit before SXY split. They continued to meet up until eventually a friendship formed and SY meets TLJ a "companion" of SXY. SY clocks who the two of them are goes to SQH to learn all he can about them and their future. SXY and TLJ eventually fall for each other and SY makes sure to prevent the palace master from finding out as long as he can. He also warns them about the palace master and to not trust any letters not hand delivered by SY as he will act as a middle person to make sure no one intercepts them. It is also during this time that SXY and TLJ both gain interest in SY. Neither can explain fully why but his autistic swag, photographic memory and ability to name drop paragraph long information in seconds intrigued them. They start courting him, shen yuan is of course oblivious. It is also important that SY introduced himself to TLJ and SXY with the name "Shen Yuan" so only the two of them refer to each other as such. He also clocks when SXY is pregnant and tells her as such when symptoms start to show and again, not to trust the palace master. By this time he is now a peak lord alongside his brother.

Eventually the old palace master finds out and instead of targeting TLJ, he first targets their lynch pin, shen yuan. He sends letters to SJ and YQY about SY being a traitor. Showing him being a demon sympathizer and hanging out sect secrets that actually SQH was leaking due to the system. SY is captures, a trial occurs and SY is charged as guilty with the punishment of execution, but YQY and SJ object. Since it was CQ secrets he was sharing they have the official say. So instead of execution they instead lock him up on the beast peak using talismans and sigils. He is not allowed to talk to anyone besides fellow peak lords and his head disciple. He cannot leave the peak without another peak lord monitoring him and this also applies when teaching. This lockdown completely breaks him as he lost trust with his family and the confinement dives him crazy as a peak lord he commonly left to document and work upon his bestiaries. This leaves him in a depressive state and constantly paranoid as he cant trust anyone. And No One has told him definitive news if SXY and TLJ are safe, SQH has confirmed that TLJ was not captured and helped SXY but he has no clue where they are now and if baby LBH is with them. As SY is confined on his mountain he stops caring about appearances and starts wasting away seen in image 3. I havent figured the rest out with LBH but he does become a part of cang qiong sect under Qing Jing, the abuse he faces stays the same. If he is raised with TLJ and SXY or by the washer woman I do not know yet. LBH hearing about the rumors of a monster on the beast peak heads out and comes face to face with SY who is delighted to see him but also horrified that about 14+ years have now passed. This pushes him a little out of his depressive episode because now he has a son to take care of and he can't waste away in front of him. He needs to act strong. He teaches LBH the best he can while contained and tells him about his parents. The two form a father son dynamic where both cant really escape the situation they are in but at least have each other for company. SY also holds onto LBH's jade pendant so it isnt lost. He also tells LBH that if he meets a demon named TLJ, to mention the name Shen Yuan.

While on a mission LBH meets up with TLJ and tells him that he's met SY and TLJ loses it (pos). He asks where he is as SXY and TLJ have been trying to find him with no success. He is told that hes on the beast peak in cang qiong and has been contained there for the last 16 years. TLJ then hatches a game plan to free him and the decide to use the immortal conference as a distraction. Most of the cultivation world will be at that conference so minimal security will be held at the sect. They use this to their advantage. TLJ strikes a deal with MBJ to cause a distraction to keep the cultivation world on the two of them even if alarms go off that SY is escaping. MBJ agrees to this as TLJ allows him to target any huan hua disciple he sees (they dont tell SXY this). While they cause a distraction by appearing on the 7th day of the conference, SXY sneaks into cang qiong peak and works on the talisman and sigils. This works and eventually she gets to SY he sees the bad shape he is in, but it was better than what LBH originally saw. The two of them start crying and SXY activates a 2 way communication artifact with TLJ telling him it was a success.

TLJ then turns to MBJ and MBJ teleports, appears in front of SXY and SY and teleports the two of them to the demon world. TLJ then turns to his son who's demon seal now broke and decides to do some father son bonding and the two both go into the eternal abyss together, as this is a tradition for heavenly demons. The two of them return after 1-2 years and have MBJ teleport them out rather than using Xin Mo.

The level of realism I don't typically see in fanfic. I crave it, so I love that I do that. And people seem to think I'm hilarious and laughing while reading smut was a new experience for some of them.

  Les relations mutualistes interspécifiques de trophobiose entre les trophobiontes (Hemiptera, Fulgoromorpha) fournissant de la nourriture à l'hôte appelé xénobiont, sont passées en revue. Le degré de relations interspécifiques entre ces symbiotes varie d'occasionnel ou de courte durée (quelques heures à quelques jours) à des relations plus longues, avec des trophobiontes laissés libres de s'échapper (type optobiotique) par le xénobionte, ou maintenus enfermés dans des nids ou des abris de fourmis (type cryptobiotique). Sur 267 cas collectés, 126 sont de nouvelles observations illustrées. La trophobiose occasionnelle est documentée dans 13 familles de cicadelles et semble être assez générale chez Fulgoromorpha, bien qu'elle soit signalée pour la première fois chez Dictyopharidae, Eurybrachidae, et Nogodinidae.

  Les xénobiontes associés aux cicadelles sont signalés chez les fourmis et d'autres hyménoptères, lépidoptères et blattodea, mais aussi chez les mollusques et même chez de petits vertébrés gekkonides. Les Tettigometridae semblent être exclusivement entretenus par les fourmis, tandis que les Fulgoridae sont beaucoup plus souvent entretenus par les blattes (40 %) que par les fourmis (27 %).

  La trophobiose à long terme se produit toujours avec les fourmis, les cryptobiotiques étant signalés chez les Cixiidae, Delphacidae, Tettigometridae, Meenoplidae, Flatidae et Hypochthonellidae, tandis que les optobiotiques restent limités aux tettigometrides. De nouvelles observations étho-écologiques sur 92 espèces de tettigometrides actuellement décrites permettent de mettre l'accent sur les Tettigometridae fréquentés par les fourmis.

  32 espèces différentes (35%) sont désormais connues pour être fréquentées par les fourmis. En Bulgarie, où quatorze espèces sont présentes, la trophobiose se produit avec au moins cinq espèces d'entre elles (36%). Chez les tettigometrides, la sous-socialité, la sessilité et la vie souterraine semblent être des facteurs clés permettant des relations plus complexes avec les fourmis. Cependant, la taille de la cicadelle et donc la quantité de nourriture (gouttes de miellat) est probablement aussi un facteur important. Cela pourrait expliquer de nombreuses nouvelles observations de fulgoridés de grande taille et souvent isolés avec des blattes.

  Le tapotement des ailes antérieures des trophobiontes par les blattes, les papillons de nuit, ou du substrat de l'écorce par les geckos a été observé, mais les comportements de palpation antennaire par les fourmis sont les plus fréquemment observés chez les tettigometrides, bien que ce ne soit pas le cas chez les plus grandes espèces. Chez les tettigometrides, des sécrétions spécifiques des glandes tégumentaires (allomones) des pleurites de l'abdomen pourraient également jouer un rôle dans leurs associations mutualistes à long terme, voire même compléter l'action des kairomones du miellat dans la trophobiose des sauterelles en général.

Since Clint wakes up to a private room, flowers on the windowsill and some kinda English Guide melodrama on the TV, he figures someone’s spoken to Tony. So he’s not surprised when he fumbles for his phone with his left hand and finds it full of messages, missed calls and at least one photograph of Nat’s pissed face. The last message, worryingly, seems to be suggesting that they’re gonna follow him to Iowa, which leads him to dictating a firm refusal to a porter called Syed who, seriously, had the biggest thumbs. He swears and starts deleting again and the whole situation strikes Clint as hilarious, which is about the time he notices they’ve got him on the good drugs. 

“Tell ‘em I’ve got it handled,” he says, and the words are kinda familiar in his mouth, he thinks maybe he’s been bugging this guy. “And no more drugs, I can’t -” he mimes a kind of explosion out the side of his head, and then giggles at the noise. 

He’s in that syrup-warm place where the texture of the sheets against his skin is the most fascinating thing he’s ever experienced. Where the weird cotton gown he’s been given smells like bleach and antiseptic and the faintest trace of perfume that he could get lost trying to identify. Where he’s reading the chart in the doctor’s hand down the hall and is convinced that Marmaduke Peacock is the coolest damn name he’s ever heard.

Aw fuck. This looks bad... 

It’s pretty impossible to describe the mental static that comes from a brain that’s prepared for overload, in an evolutionary kinda way, and instead gets practically nothing. The cliche is TV fuzz, but that’s not even close. It’s more like - like the almost-whine of TV sets from the street outside houses. Like the rumble that shivers through you when things are too deep to hear. Like the empty socket of a wisdom tooth you can’t help poking at, except in your brain. 

Clint closes his eyes and presses the heels of his hands into them, curling up and forward for the millisecond it takes for the pain in his shoulder to remind him of its gut twisting presence. Swallowing hard, he fumbles for the mental armor, for the ability to dull the overwhelming sensation from every inch of his skin as his other senses reach out like that’ll make his hearing any better, but the morphine’s scattered all of it and everything’s slipping out of his grip. 

“Hey, Syed?” he says, mumbles, slurs, “ears? Ears. Please? Ears.” 

He’s still repeating it, raspy and dry-throated and half under his breath, when he can finally focus on anything past the blur of sensation and pain and blinding light and the breathless, thoughtless, paralyzing ache of nothing where so much something should be. 

He collapses onto his back and lets out a sobbing breath; he’s been curled up on his side and moving, shifting, something that’s made his muscles ache. He feels like he’s rubbed his skin raw on the starched hospital sheets, and his shoulder’s bleeding again, and everything’s too much, too much, and the cool sheltering presence of Faith by the side of his bed is the only thing that’s keeping him breathing. 

“Ah fuck,” he sobs out, “fuck.” 

Faith’s cool hand pushes against his and he grabs for it before he registers the awkwardly shaped plastic case she’s trying to give him. 

“Sorry,” he says, awkward and honest and desperate, and his head is pounding with how hard his fucked up brain is trying to hear it. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, just give me a second, please, I just need - “

He can feel that she’s getting upset, though, that he’s upsetting her, and it’s another aggravation on top of all the others, another way everything is just not okay, and he can almost feel himself sliding again, spiraling downwards. Then someone grabs his hand and pulls his fingers away from Faith’s skin, not trying to hurt but not being careful either; it’s brusque and businesslike and home in a way that Barney has always been. 

He relaxes abruptly, can just about co-ordinate himself to grab the case his aids are in, but opening them, getting them properly situated, it’s an impossible task. Especially because he hasn’t yet managed to open his eyes. He’s working on it, he is, but it’s a relief when those brusque fingers come back and pull the case from his lax hand. 

The ordeal of getting aids into ears, the sheer fucking agony of the rush of undifferentiated sound - that’s best not talked about.

VRYSTAAT ARTS FESTIVAL LAUNCHES ITS 2019 PROGRAMME

The Vrystaat Arts Festival has an enormous artistic offering in 2019. From flagship Afrikaans, English and Sesotho theatre and music productions to experimental dance, craft, sound art, visual art and live art, there is something for everyone.

International Engagement

The Festival is now one of the key arts festivals on the African continent and offers a significant range of national and international work in an astounding range of genres. In addition to a large contingent of South Africans artists, the festival this year hosts creatives from afar away as Australia, Belgium, Canada, the Caribbean, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Malawi, Mexico, Nigeria, Senegal, Singapore, the UK, the US and Zambia (to name but a few).

First Nation Protocol

The Vrystaat Arts Festival is the first South African cultural entity to follow Khoi-San protocol, recognizing the First Peoples and traditional owners of the land in public platforms and the festival program. The First Nations Welcoming ceremony of the festival is fast becoming an event unique in South-Africa. To that extent we are also honoured to have South African First Nations poet Diana Ferris as the Vrystaat Literature Festival’s Sol Plaatje keynote this year.

Performance and Music

The flagship theatre production is Kamphoer, the story of Susan Nell. Played by Sandra Prinsloo, and directed by Lara Foot, the play is based on a true story set in the Anglo-Boer War (1899–1902). Prinsloo skilfully embodies the enigmatic figure of Nell, who was brutally raped and left for dead in the concentration camp in Windburg.

The Island, directed by Jerry Mofokeng wa Makhetha also debuts at the festival. Written by Athol Fugard, John Kani and Winston Ntshona, this apartheid-era drama, inspired by a true story, is set in an unnamed prison based on South Africa's notorious Robben Island. This production has an all-female cast with Jane Mamotse Mpholo and Michelle Joubert in the lead roles.

The National Afrikaans Theatre initiative (NATi) also presents two of their flagship productions Katvoet with Marius Weyers, Marion Holm, Tinarie van Wyk Loots, Albert Pretorius, Martelize Kolver and Geon Nel, and My Seuns with Sandra Prinsloo, Louw Venter, Sandi Schultz, Edwin van der Walt, Buhle Ngaba and Donovan Pietersen.

The Vrystaat Arts Festival is also extremely privileged to have one of Nigeria’s most celebrated dancers/choreographers Qudus Onikeku with his renowned work Spirit Child. Spirit Child is a solo piece with three musicians, inspired by Azaro, the main character in Ben Okri’s novel, The Famished Road.

Other dance productions include the NATi funded experimental dance work Tehuis by Mark Anthony Dobson and the ever-popular flamenco dances Spanish Fire – Flaming Feet and La Femme! Also keep an eye out for the popular Reza de Wet youth theatre festival with performances from all over the country.

Music lovers will find a number of offerings including a short opera, Menotti’s The Maid and the Thief, 40 Fingers with Charl du Plessis, Classica, ’n chamber quartet from the US, Flying Fingers from Bloemfontein and Most Magical Musical Moments with Niël Rademan and the soprano Lynelle Kenned.

Amanda Strydom entertains with Stadig oor die klippers and South African rock icon Karen Zoid is in the mix with The Parlotones, Spoegwolf, Heuwels Fantasties, Andile Qongqo, Asanda Mqiki, Jak de Priester, Anna Davel with a Shirley Bassey- tribute, Jannie du Toit and Drie van die Bestes (Mathys Roets, Danie Niehaus, Kevin Leo). All the Way from Bloem, led by Jacobus Silver also provides upcoming Free State artists a platform to shine.

Live Arts

The Programme for Innovation in Artfrom Development (PIAD) is an interdisciplinary and experimental art programme in partnership with the University of the Free State and funded by the Andrew W Mellon Foundation in New York. The two key PIAD festival artists for 2019 is South African Marius Jansen van Vuuren and Australian Paul Gazzola. Their project We Can Be Heroes looks to the sky as the site for innovative ephemeral art, and inspired by the Southern star patterns, imagined worlds and local mythologies, will charge the untapped potential of the festival skyline.

Other live art projects include The Vertical Journey - a tribute to the still unknown by Marcus Neustetter, which will launch a series of planetarium dome short films accompanied by live improvisations at the Naval Hill Planetarium; the interdisciplinary performance/sound art work miss/seen by Sonya Rademeyer, Kagiso Kekana and Nosipho Mtaban; and Lo-Def Film Factory by Francois Knoetze, a pop-up experimental filmmaking and film screening booth.

Ukuzibuyisa: giving myself back to myself by Ukhona Ntsali Mland is a site-specific performance in response to the societal expectations on womxn’s lives; LATROP : The People Who Were Too Much, by Scott Eric Williams & Dr Julia Drouhin involves kids workshops, Zine making and radio antenna drawings; and Tok Tokkie by Lorin Sookool, Jarrett Erasmus, Ella Ziegler & Andrei van Wyk activates audiences in public and private spaces through surveillance games.

Visual Arts

The visual arts programme this year includes Footprints by Andrew Tshabangu curated by Thembinkosi Goniwe at the Stegmann Gallery and dwell in possibility at the UFS Centenary Gallery, curated by Johann du Plessis, with well-known national artists such as Michael Taylor, Andile Dyalvane, Lien Botha, Mbongeni Buthelezi, Alta Botha, Iaan Weldeck, Bongi Bengu, Katherine Glenday and many others.

Betwixt & Between in the Scaena foyer curated by Karen Brusch is an exhibition by artists from the Free State Art Collective in response to their liminal experiences of living in the Free State. At Oliewenhuis Art Museum Reservoir, the project titled #i by Jodi Bieber combines portrait photography, visual research, interviews, text, digital photographic collage and design, and Blood Relatives, also at Oliewenhuis, is a body of work created in 2005, by renowned photographer, Cedric Nunn.

Film

Many different stories from all over the world may be experienced in the films at this year's festival. Following requests after last year's film programme two films with a gay subtext are included this year – the controversial South African film The Wound and the moving Heartstone from Iceland. And don't forget the transgender heroine of A fantastic woman from Chile. The romantic at heart, especially if they love music as well, should not miss Cold War from Poland. And with regard to First Nations, Australia's Sweet Country is a riveting experience. An opera is included again – Donizetti's comical Don Pasquale with soprano Eva Mei and conductor Gérard Korsten who performed in Bloemfontein last year.

Vrynge

As a platform for emerging artists and professionals interested in testing new work, this year Vrynge hosts many talented local, national and international creatives. From Brighton (neXus) to New York and Italy (Before you fall asleep), the Caribbean (Caribbean Cool), and the Netherlands with Lot Vekemans working on her new play Blind, the Vrynge is a small world in one. There’s entertainment for the whole family with Francie en haar foon and Die groot avonture van Vernon en sy maats: Die heks fiasco. The Vrystaat Arts Festival is also partnering with the Baxter Theatre and Lagos Fringe to bring even more engaging experiences. Pan-African Creative Exchange

The biannual Pan-African Creative Exchange (PACE), with founding sponsor NATi, and support from the Embassy of the Netherlands this year hosts PACE+, an interim programme and dramaturgical laboratory led by Executive Director Nike Jonah (UK/Nig), Funmi Adewole (Co-ordinating facilitator – UK/Nig), Dutch facilitator Mike van Alfen, and guest provocateurs Saartjie Botha (SA) and Jacob Boehme (Aus).

Insultes, huées, menaces… Quand il sort, désormais, cela tourne mal. Depuis le début de la mobilisation des « gilets jaunes », pour le président qui aimait tant les promenades, elles sont devenues rares (et discrètes). Comme les visites.

De l’aéroport de Loudes, en Haute-Loire, jusqu’au Puy-en-Velay, il y a 10 km, un quart d’heure en voiture. Ce 4 décembre, pour rejoindre la préfecture incendiée trois jours plus tôt par les « gilets jaunes », Emmanuel Macron n’a heureusement pas besoin de passer par le rond-point de Lachamp, sur la commune de Saint-Pierre-Eynac. C’est là, sur la RN88, que des manifestants avaient cousu un pantin de taille humaine, posé sur un échafaud plus vrai que nature. Sur le billot était écrit : « Te guillotiner c’est notre projet. »

Le président de la République file vers la préfecture. En route, il discute avec les passagers en gilet jaune d’une voiture croisée par hasard. Aucune image, aucune vidéo. Le 3 décembre, il n’a aussi passé qu’une tête dans le bureau de l’un de ses collaborateurs qui recevait un « gilet » venu de Chalon-sur-Saône à pied. Ces gens seront parmi les rares protestataires qu’Emmanuel Macron a rencontrés durant cette crise ouverte le 17 novembre, où sa capacité à réformer et sa popularité se sont abîmées, mais où il a aussi perdu une part de sa liberté.

Sans prévenir les élus, il est venu au Puy apporter son soutien au préfet. Celui-ci montre les armoires en cendres, les vitres brisées, les bureaux noircis par la suie. Il conte au chef de l’Etat ce samedi où le « portail a été pété », les pneus entassés et enflammés, et cette bataille inégale entre les « trente » de la préfecture et les deux cents manifestants empêchant les pompiers d’accéder au bâtiment. Bilan : trente-huit blessés… « Ils criaient : “Vous allez tous griller comme des poulets ! »,termine le préfet. « Vous les connaissez ? », interroge Emmanuel Macron, incrédule.

Au Puy-en-Velay, des « gilets jaunes » écœurés mais combatifs après l’incendie de la préfecture

Dès que l’avion présidentiel s’est posé à Loudes, la nouvelle de sa visite s’est ébruitée. Un message posté sur Facebook a réveillé quelques « gilets jaunes ». Une vingtaine d’hommes et de femmes attendent le chef de l’Etat à la sortie de la préfecture. « Ouuuuuh ! Démission ! », « Enculé ! », « Président des riches ! » Pas encore de quoi trop s’émouvoir. C’est sur la route de la caserne de gendarmerie que tout va basculer…

« On vous hait ! »

M. Macron commence par traverser Le Puy vitre ouverte, pour dire bonjour. Des insultes lui répondent, il doit vite la remonter. Un homme se jette ensuite devant la voiture. En sortant de la caserne, cinquante manifestants l’injurient encore : « On vous hait ! »

L’échange promis à la presse locale est annulé. Les services de sécurité exfiltrent le président par une sortie annexe. De la séquence ne reste que l’image d’un démarrage en trombe sous les huées. Quelques jours plus tard, le chef de l’Etat racontera au président du MoDem François Bayrou que, de la voiture, il a entendu une femme lancer : « Salope, j’espère que tu vas crever sur la route ! »

Emmanuel Macron aime pourtant les promenades. Dès son arrivée au ministère de l’économie, en 2014, il avait fait de ces échappées sa griffe. Elles étaient à la fois le thermomètre de sa popularité et un moyen d’asseoir sa notoriété. « Il est où, Emmanuel ? », s’agaçait François Hollande à chaque déplacement avec lui. « Emmanuel » traînait derrière. Selfies, autographes, bisous, il se régalait. Mais, depuis que les « gilets jaunes » le traquent sur Facebook, ces déambulations sont impensables. Il voyage incognito, ou alors sans caméras.

Jeudi 20 décembre, c’est avec l’AFP et Franceinfo, ces médias de « l’ancien monde », qu’il est allé à Soissons, dans l’Aisne, visiter sans prévenir un centre pour enfants victimes de maltraitance. Officiellement, personne n’a été exclu du voyage, mais il fallait éviter les caméras, en cas d’incident. « S’il ne prévient pas avant de partir, c’est qu’il sait déjà qu’il risque de s’en prendre plein la figure »,confirme un conseiller. Sa photographe officielle, Soazig de la Moissonnière, envoie seule quelques clichés où le président, décontracté au milieu de son équipe, rit à la table d’un restaurant Courtepaille, à Mareuil-lès-Meaux (Seine-et-Marne).

Gibets, cibles et cercueils

Deux jours avant les injures du Puy-en-Velay, sa petite promenade à pied au milieu des vitrines fracassées de l’avenue Kléber, à Paris, avait déjà mal tourné. Il revenait alors d’Argentine, où il avait participé au G20. Sur les portables de ses collaborateurs, il a découvert de Buenos Aires les images des violences du 1er décembre et il se rend à l’Arc de triomphe saccagé avant de partir à la rencontre des commerçants. Mais des « gilets jaunes » débarquent. Copieusement sifflé, il doit s’éclipser sous la protection des policiers.

« Gilets jaunes » : à Paris, des destructions, des violences et un mot d’ordre, « Macron démission »

Avant le 11-Novembre, « il était déjà revenu de son périple dans l’est de la France très conscient qu’une colère grondait », assure Philippe Grangeon, l’un de ses conseillers. Mais c’était au temps où l’Elysée pouvait encore accuser les médias de grossir le trait. « Je parle aux gens, ça se passe bien, mais les journalistes écrivent à l’avance un scénario où je me ferais sans cesse alpaguer, comme si j’étais un personnage de télé-réalité ! », se plaint Emmanuel Macron devant les ministres Bruno Le Maire, Gérald Darmanin, Jean-Michel Blanquer et François de Rugy qu’il reçoit à l’Elysée au retour de sa fameuse « itinérance mémorielle » dans onze départements. Ce n’est qu’à la deuxième journée de mobilisation des « gilets jaunes », le 24 novembre, qu’il évoque des « scènes de guerre ». Une semaine plus tard, l’Arc de triomphe est pris d’assaut.

« Je connais cette violence et cette vulgarité, ce sont les mêmes qui étaient déposées dans la boîte aux lettres de mes parents, lorsque j’ai rencontré Emmanuel », assure Brigitte Macron à ses conseillers désolés. Sauf qu’à l’époque les insultes n’étaient pas si menaçantes. Désormais, les manifestants crachent sur les vitrines et prennent à partie les employés de la chocolaterie familiale d’Amiens. « J’ai l’impression d’être un bouc émissaire, un défouloir » : le 4 décembre, Jean-Alexandre Trogneux, propriétaire du commerce, se fend d’une mise au point : la boutique n’appartient pas au président, son oncle par alliance. Un internaute de la Somme, terre des plus farouches ennemis du président – le député François Ruffin et l’écrivain Edouard Louis –, est placé en garde à vue.

Dans les « manifs », l’effigie du président est lardée de coups de couteau, ligotée par des chaînes, ensanglantée. Gibets, cibles, cercueils trônent devant les cahutes de bord de route. Sur les sites des manifestants, on parle de lui « jeter des pierres »et même de « le pendre ». Quant aux comptes Facebook d’Eric Drouet et de Priscillia Ludosky, deux des initiateurs du mouvement, ils relaient un faux « mandat d’arrêt » contre Emmanuel Macron, coupable de « haute trahison ».

Déplacements officiels annulés

Il n’y a pas que les coups de menton ou de gueule sur les réseaux sociaux. Dans la nuit du 14 au 15 décembre, le député (La République en marche, LRM) de l’Eure Bruno Questel voit débouler devant chez lui « un groupe d’hommes, mais aussi de femmes, largement alcoolisés ». Des visages déjà croisés dix fois dans cette circonscription où il a été élu maire en 2002, conseiller général et enfin parlementaire.

« Ils voulaient s’installer chez moi », raconte le député au téléphone à Emmanuel Macron et à son premier ministre, Edouard Philippe, après que la police a retrouvé six douilles de cartouches tirées devant sa maison. Même le secrétaire général de l’Elysée, Alexis Kohler, pratiquement inconnu du grand public, a vu ses enfants menacés.

A Paris, les époux Macron aimaient improviser un dîner à La Rotonde, cette brasserie de Montparnasse où les patrons leur arrangent toujours une table au fond du restaurant. Ils étaient même allés voir Le Grand Bain, le « feel good movie » de Gilles Lellouche, dans une « vraie » salle de cinéma. Trop dangereux aujourd’hui. Depuis le 1er décembre, Brigitte Macron n’a pas franchi les limites du périphérique, se contentant, sans aucune publicité, d’une visite à l’hôpital des Invalides, d’une autre à Necker, d’une troisième à l’Institut de la mémoire de la Pitié-Salpêtrière.

Adieu les longs week-ends à la Lanterne, aux confins du parc du château de Versailles, où Brigitte Macron a l’habitude d’acheter son pain dans les boulangeries avoisinantes : depuis la mi-novembre, les séjours sont brefs et rares. Hormis sa visite surprise à Soissons, le président lui-même est peu sorti de l’Elysée. Le ministère de l’intérieur craint des bousculades, une agression, voire bien pire. Ses agendas ont été vidés, des déplacements officiels annulés : sa visite en Serbie, les 5 et 6 décembre, puis son séjour à Biarritz (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), le 18 décembre, afin de préparer le G7 de 2019 en compagnie de 150 ambassadeurs. L’agenda officiel est loin d’être rempli. « Il est en réunion interne », répond son service de communication.

Aucun de ceux qui l’entourent n’a souvenir d’un tel rejet sur le terrain. Seul Bruno Le Maire, lorsqu’il était le ministre de l’agriculture de Nicolas Sarkozy, a connu les quolibets et les tas de fumier déversés sur son passage. Pour les jeunes conseillers de l’Elysée, l’expérience est inédite. « On ne va pas finir le quinquennat dans un abri antiatomique », expliquait au Monde le chargé de la communication de l’Elysée, Sylvain Fort, en prenant ses fonctions après l’« affaire » Benalla. « Débunkériser », disait-on alors au Palais. Devant l’association de la presse présidentielle, à la Maison des polytechniciens, le 17 décembre, il détaille cette fois la menace que fait peser sur le président une « défiance transformée en sécession ».

« Il ne sort plus sans se maquiller »

Devant les députés LRM, ou en conseil des ministres, Emmanuel Macron ne laisse échapper aucune fébrilité. Occupé à ne pas imposer ses certitudes, il laisse les autres parler. Mais ceux qui le croisent notent sa fatigue. « Il ne sort plus sans se maquiller tellement il est marqué. Il se maquille même les mains », assure un député LRM qui a l’oreille du chef de l’Etat. Lors de son allocution enregistrée à l’Elysée, le 10 décembre, plus de 23 millions de téléspectateurs découvrent un président mal rasé et amaigri.

L’Elysée est devenu un huis clos où les corps étrangers sont de plus en plus rares. Le président (Les Républicains) du Sénat, Gérard Larcher, ou l’ancien chef de l’Etat Nicolas Sarkozy ont été reçus les 4 et 7 décembre. Le jeudi, John Chambers, l’ex-patron du groupe informatique Cisco devenu ambassadeur de la French Tech à l’international, a aussi franchi le perron du Palais avec une quarantaine de « capital-risqueurs » et d’investisseurs venus découvrir de prometteuses jeunes pousses françaises. Mais le chef de l’Etat a surtout consulté son premier cercle.

Depuis que les présidents communiquent par messagerie privée, les « visiteurs du soir » sont rares, ou plus exactement leurs visites sont désormais virtuelles. Emmanuel Macron possède deux téléphones et passe de l’un à l’autre. Naguère, les conseillers ou les gardes guettaient l’heure à laquelle il quittait son bureau et éteignait les lumières. Aujourd’hui, ceux qui communiquent avec lui par Telegram notent l’heure à laquelle il cesse ses consultations : 2 heures, 3 heures du matin…

Il échange évidemment avec son secrétaire général et son premier ministre, qui ont longtemps plaidé que des concessions aux « gilets jaunes » obéreraient la capacité de réforme du gouvernement. Mais ces dernières semaines, Philippe Grangeon, François Bayrou et Richard Ferrand (président de l’Assemblée nationale), les « sociaux », comme on les appelle, ont joué les premiers rôles dans l’entourage du chef de l’Etat. Avec Jean-Paul Delevoye (haut-commissaire à la réforme des retraites), ces trois-là ont participé à la vidéoconférence qu’Emmanuel Macron a organisée le 8 décembre à l’Elysée afin de réfléchir à la sortie de crise. C’est avec eux, ces représentants du vieux monde, qu’il s’est convaincu de lâcher plus de 10 milliards d’euros pour « sauver le capital des réformes ».

Pas de trêve pour son anniversaire

Insulté sur les réseaux sociaux, le président n’ignore pas la tentation et les références révolutionnaires d’une partie des émeutiers. « Le référendum d’initiative citoyenne n’est pas conçu par ses initiateurs – qui ne sont pas des gentils “gilets jaunes”, mais des complotistes de la pire espèce – comme un outil démocratique mais comme un outil de sédition », a encore confié Sylvain Fort, lundi 17 décembre.

Quand une partie de l’extrême gauche s’est mise à espérer tout haut que la police rejoigne le mouvement de contestation, le ministre de l’intérieur, Christophe Castaner, a été prié d’éteindre au plus vite la sourde fronde au sein des forces de l’ordre. Une prime de 300 euros a d’abord été proposée aux policiers et aux gendarmes avant que le gouvernement s’accorde finalement avec les syndicats pour une augmentation de salaire en plusieurs temps qui pourrait atteindre 150 euros.

Même au sein de l’armée, il a fallu menacer de sanctions une dizaine de généraux, un amiral et un colonel de la 2e section, c’est-à-dire retraités mais encore mobilisables, après qu’ils ont signé une lettre ouverte sur un site d’extrême droite.

« Vous ne pouvez pas décider seul d’effacer nos repères civilisationnels et nous priver de notre patrie charnelle, disait le texte, en s’insurgeant de la signature par la France du pacte de Marrakech (Maroc) sur les migrations. Vous êtes comptable devant les Français de vos actions. Votre élection ne constitue pas un blanc-seing. »Des airs de putsch ? En tout cas un affront pour le président, qui est aussi le chef des armées, et déteste qu’elles le contestent.

Vendredi 21 décembre, c’était son anniversaire. Quarante et un ans. Encore une jeunesse. Evidemment, Facebook a repéré l’événement et appelé à « pourrir la fête ». Pas de trêve, au contraire. « A bas sa majesté Macron ! », « Dégage Macron Ier ! », continuent de crier les « gilets jaunes » sur les ronds-points rasés puis reconstruits. Rond-point de la Jaunaie, à Redon, en Ille-et-Vilaine, une nouvelle guillotine vient d’être installée : « On veut juste qu’il comprenne qu’il faut qu’il s’en aille », explique une manifestante.

Voilà le jeune président rattrapé par le fameux « dégagisme » qui l’a aidé à se hisser à la tête du pouvoir, mais aussi par ses analyses historiques et ses critiques sur la « normalisation » progressive des présidents de la Ve République. En juillet 2015, dans l’hebdomadaire Le 1, il assurait que le grand « absent » de « la politique française » était « la figure du roi », dont « fondamentalement le peuple français n’a [vait] pas voulu la mort ». A l’époque, il pensait encore qu’il manquait un roi à la France.
