i painted a shitty sketch of some random oc, and thought it looked cool (watercolor). the sketch is alright, just the eyes are too far apart. this is only my first time painting people and my third painting in general so please be nice!!

Whumptober 2024: Day 2 - Unfortunate Fall

They land in a decidedly ungaraceful manner, stumbling as they push the onlookers out of the way. Kaida, their little brother, the light of their life and the reason for their continued existence, is crumpled in a sad, broken heap on the floor.

Photios drops to their knees beside him, but all they can hear is the increasing static in their head. Kaida's motionless, limbs bent in ways that limbs should not bend. One of his wings appears to be... backwards, bones sticking up like arrows pointing towards the sky.

They do not try to rouse him. They, in their ancient age and the wisdom that comes with it, know that he is gone. His neck is at a strange angle, and the golden ichor that runs through him is dripping from his nose and mouth.

Photios has lost him this way, once before. A freak accident. A fall.

They had been younger, then. Faster. Able to step in right before he breathed his last. They had been able to stop it. This time, there is no such safety net.

The onlookers are talking loudly, questioning about how a 'teenager' fell out of the sky. Wanting to get closer. To touch his wings and examine him. But they sound so distant, to Photios.

Like their head is being held underwater. Everything's so far away, and they're struggling to breathe as they continue to just...

Stare.
