Phosphosiderite: A Gemstone With a Colorful Personality
Have you ever stumbled upon a gemstone that looks like a dream come true? A captivating blend of vibrant purple hues, accented with hints of sunshine yellow? That, my friend, is the magic of phosphosiderite!
Phosphosiderite: More Than Just a Pretty Name
This relatively rare gemstone might not be a household name, but its beauty is sure to turn heads. Its name itself reflects its composition: “phospho” referring to phosphate and “siderite” relating to iron. Who knew chemistry could be so poetic?
A Rainbow of Purples (and More!)
The most popular variety of phosphosiderite boasts a stunning orchid purple hue, often adorned with streaks or veins of sunshine yellow. These inclusions, called cacoxenite, add a touch of personality and intrigue to the gem. But wait, there’s more! Phosphosiderite can also surprise you with a wider range of colors, including:
Rose crimson — a touch of romanticism
Brownish yellow — earthy tones with a hint of mystery
Dark purple — a color fit for royalty
Mossy green — whispers of nature’s beauty
Even colorless — a blank canvas waiting for your imagination
A Newcomer on the Gemstone Scene
Compared to gemstones with a rich history dating back centuries, phosphosiderite is a fresh face in the world of jewels. It was only discovered and described in the late 19th century, making it a fascinating discovery for gemstone enthusiasts.
Beauty with Care Instructions
While undeniably captivating, phosphosiderite requires a little extra TLC. With a hardness of 3.5–4 on the Mohs scale, it falls on the softer side of gemstones. This means it’s more susceptible to scratches and breakage if not handled with care. So, while it might not be the best choice for everyday wear in rings or bracelets, it could be perfect for stunning pendants or earrings.
More Than Just a Pretty Stone
Beyond its undeniable beauty, some believe phosphosiderite possesses metaphysical properties. It is claimed to foster innovation, self-expression, and spiritual development. So, if you’re looking for a gemstone that not only adorns your finger but also uplifts your spirit, phosphosiderite might be your perfect match.
So, is phosphosiderite the right gemstone for you?
Consider your lifestyle and how you’ll be wearing the stone. If you’re looking for a daily wear gemstone for rings or bracelets, its softness might pose a challenge. However, for those seeking unique and captivating pieces, phosphosiderite offers a stunning range of colors and potential metaphysical properties. Whether you’re a collector, a lover of all things unique, or simply someone who appreciates a touch of magic on their fingertip, phosphosiderite promises a world of colorful possibilities.

Got 2 new crystals yesterday!
Left is phosphosiderite, an opaque purple stone that I had never come across before yesterday. According to my local crystal shop, this stone encourages compassion toward yourself and loved ones, as well as soothing anxiety. I was looking for a crystal to be calling to me and this one was doing that for sure. I just had to get it.
Right is obsidian, one that i had been wanting for awhile. I'm actually not sure how its taken this long to add this stone to my collection. Obsidian is a protecting stone that helps ward off negative energy and ground the user.

JEWELRY RAFFLE FOR PALESTINIAN SURVIVAL AID -- EXTENDED
Due to a lack of entries, a need to get this jewelry off my hands, and these 3 fundraisers' need to reach their goals ASAP, I've decided to extend my authentic crystal jewelry raffle for another month, or until I feel I have enough entries to do the raffle properly.
A local artisan was kind enough to provide me with 8 pieces of authentic crystal jewelry to offer for donation funds supporting three different campaigns for Palestinian families looking to evacuate Gaza or in need of survival aid while in Gaza.
These families are:
Ahmed and Maram’s family (in Euro)
Mohammed Shamia’s family (in Swedish kroner)
Marah Atallah’s family (in USD)
All families are 100% legitimate — I have been in contact with Maram and Ahmed for months, who have provided me multiple pictures, videos, and recordings of their situation. They have been featured in a video by YouTuber Ro Ramdin and have been vetted by @/el-shab-hussein. I am also in consistent contact with their beneficiary through a group chat who updates us on the movement of all money.
Mohammed’s family has multiple pictures and videos of their situation on family member Ahmad’s Twitter/X account proving their legitimacy. I have personally communicated with Ahmad and his history online stretches back far before 10/7. His campaign has been SEVERELY stagnant, often going 20+ days before receiving a donation. He is trying to raise enough to evacuate his sister and her two children. He has had 2 donations in 29 DAYS!
I personally connected Marah to the one managing her campaign, who is a friend of mine. Marah is also friends in-person with other verified families over on Twitter/X, where she posts pictures and videos of she and her family’s situation. They use all money raised to survive displacement in Gaza and to save up enough to register for evacuation when the time is right. Marah’s campaign has been shared by @/90-ghost.
Donate an amount of $5/€5/kr50 SEK or more in multiples of 5, DM me proof of your donation, and tell me which piece you are interested in (send the number and letter listed next to the description of the piece). I will enter your name into a raffle for the piece you would like. One donation of 5/kr50 SEK = one entry, 10/kr100 SEK = 2 entries, and so on. At the end of the raffle, I will randomly choose one recipient per piece, contact said recipient for details, and mail the piece to you.

From left to right: A pair of Rutilated Quartz earrings valued $20 (E1), a pair of Kunzite earrings valued $18 (E2), and a pair of multi tourmaline earrings valued $20 (E3).

From left to right: A labradorite, aura quartz, clear aura crackle quartz, and sea sediment jasper bracelet valued $30 (B1), and a chrysocolla, morganite, phosphosiderite, and yellow opal bracelet valued $30 (B2).

From left to right: A clear quartz necklace valued $30 (N1), a red tiger’s eye necklace valued $30 (N2), and a flower agate, rose quartz, lepidolite, strawberry quartz, and clear quartz necklace valued $32 (N3).
If you can’t participate, that’s okay! Please share this post so that others may see and enter to win some beautiful jewelry for the most important cause — saving lives.

Now that I'm back from the gem and mineral show, here are all the Cool Rocks I came home with!
A cute little coral fossil! He looks like a cauliflower.
A Keokuk geode! These geode beds aren't far from where I live, and it's always fun to have local specimens.
Phosphosiderite! This purple stone comes from Chile. It's so soft that it has to be stabilized with resin before it's cut. This one is a cross section of a botryoidial formation!
Speaking of botryoidial, this Hematite! Botryoidial means it has a bubbly shape kind of like a bunch of grapes. The faces of the bubbles on this pieces are super shiny and metallic.
Dendritic chalcedony, from Turkey! It's a white chalcedony full of dendrites - branching formations of manganese that look kind of like trees!
A cabochon for my cab collection! This one is made from a material sometimes called "ajooba jasper." The pattern is actually a cross section of a bunch of colorfully jasperized bivalve fossils!
Speaking of jasper, this one is Blue Mountain jasper, from Oregon! The circles in this stone are what’s known as an “egg pattern,” and jaspers which have them (Blue Mountain, Imperial jasper, and a few others) are collectively known as “fine jaspers,” the most valuable jaspers in the world.
Hyalite opal! This stuff forms water-clear spheres that look like jelly.
It fluoresces bright green under UV light!
Now to show off this year's haul of awesome agates!
Dryhead agate, from the Bighorn Mountains in Montana! This agate is named after the many bison skulls found in the area. A weird shaped guy with awesome red and orange bands.
Bou Lili agate, from Morocco! I like the name of this one. Soft banding and very subtle, muted colors. I've heard that this locale can produce peachy colors too.
Bear Canyon agate, from the Pryor Mountains in Montana! Agates from this locale have very stark black and white banding.
Red Fox agate, from Argentina! Sometimes this material is also called "crater agate" because the area it comes from is near the crater of an ancient volcano.
A Blue Sky thunderegg, from New Mexico! Thundereggs from this locale often have this two pointed, saucer-like shape.
It fluoresces really brightly!
Dulcote agate, from England! The bands of this agate are full of calcite, which gives them a strange, distinct texture.
Malawi agate, from Malawi! See all the cracks in it? Almost all Malawi agates have them. Frequent earthquakes due to the East African Rift cause these agates to crack and fracture.
Paint Rock agate, from Paint Rock Valley in Alabama! This agate is very rarely banded, and usually just contains swirls of red and yellow color.
A big, unpolished slab of Montana agate! This agate is known for its clear banding and black lines and spots, which are caused by manganese dendrites.
It's best viewed with some light behind it!
A smaller piece with really amazing dendrites!
Here it is backlit!
Fighting Blood agate, from Hebei Provence in China! This locale is known for its super saturated reds and yellows. This piece has purple amethyst crystals growing inside! They didn't photograph well; they are much more purple in person.
A really weird Fighting Blood agate! This one lacks the bright colors typical of this locale, but makes up for it with that super cool spiderweb pattern!
And finally, as is tradition, I came home with some Ethiopian opals! Here are the five I got this year.
And that's everything I got at the show!

GUYSGUYGUYS GUYS GUYS GUYS

VERY FUCKING COOL THING THAT HAPPENED TODAY
so my city was hosting a huge crystal show, and all day I’ve been looking for one specific rare crystal, Phosphosiderite, due to its containing Phosphate and Iron. I wanted to see if it would glow under UV light.
So all day I’m looking for this crystal and no one has it, most haven’t even heard about it. And then I see this staff member guy who is a geologist and ask him about it. He goes “hm! that’s a rare one! Ask this guy!”
and we go down the line from rock guy to rock guy trying to find even one specimen. Then I get to this one guy, the guy who knows all the rocks, and he looks a bit like Jesse Pinkman lol. And i’m like “I’m looking for Phosphosiderite” and he’s like “ah yes, we have only 3 examples. Here are some Phosphosiderite - opallite bracelets”- apparently this guy has an obsession with purple rocks specifically and knew the rock exactly BECAUSE it was purple. Really cool dude.
and I’m like FINALLY. The bracelets are like $70 so I can’t afford them, I’m just super interested to see if they’ll glow. And the guy is like “Honestly, I doubt they will but let’s see”
So we look at it under a UV light, and sure enough, it glows!!!!!! The dude is like HHOOOLY SHIT!!! and i’m like YYYEAAAA DUDE and he’s like showing all his other rock buddies this rock glowing and we’re all freaking out over how cool it looks. Then he’s like yknow what, just for that I’m going to make you a custom fully Phosphosiderite bracelet and you can have it for $30 just because you taught me something new today. I’m gonna run back to our shop and look at all of our Phosphosiderite under UV!!!”And i’m like WWWWOOOAAAHHH NO FUCKING WAY!!!!
and then my bfs mom is like “i’ll get it for you as an early birthday present because this is really cool” and I’m like WHATTT AAAA NO WAY!!!!
ITS SO FUCKING COOL!!!! AND IT GLOWS!!!!!!!!
The guy asked me why I was interested in Phosphosiderite and I didn’t wanna get into the whole Luciferian thing. So I was just like, “I’ve never seen it in real life and I wanted to see if it could glow or be magnetic at all because of the iron”
and he’s like “MAGNETIC?! OH SHIT” and I’m like “I AM WEARING MAGNET RINGS RIGHT NOW LETS CHECK!!!” and he was like HOLY SHIT!!!
They are extremely subtly attracted to the magnet!!! and he’s like “YOU’RE TEACHING ME SO MUCH ABOUT THIS ROCK!!!!”
having that moment of just like supreme excitement standing with all these super educated people looking at this crystal that does in fact GLOW, was so fucking cool and so fucking Luciferian I almost cried. I’m so happy I decided to ask, the fact that everyone was just as excited as I was to see it glow was just so amazing. aaaaa
I got my hands on some Phosphosiderite completely for free :)) It’s like he literally put it in my hands :))))
