Today’s character of the day is: Birdperson briefly also known as Phoenixperson from Rick and Morty

I know Rick and Morty is meant to be a very silly comedy and all, but the birdperson&birddaughter potential for tragedy makes me go feral if I think about it for too long. We know BP has federation-related childhood trauma from Rickternal friendship of the spotless mort.

There's the implication of some kind of massacre in his home city. That's probably what made him want to join the resistance as an adult, and we all know how that turned out. Now here he is, and despite all his time freedom-fighting, his daughter ended up with just as much federation-inflicted childhood trauma. And just like him, she wants to fight. She's got a federation hitlist and everything.

BP is in the exact same position his parents (grandparents?) must've once been in, but that doesn't help him be any less out of his depth with Bird daughter. He's too late to change it- BD is already fixated on killing federation members, and Mr. Integrity knows she's morally right to do so. But he KNOWS how this story ends! He's watching his daughter go down a path he's already gone down himself, and he knows exactly how dangerous and deadly it gets (You cannot tell me this guy actually took the time to process the phoenixperson stuff). He decided to live just so he could get his daughter to safety, but BD doesn't want to be 'safe' and there's nothing he can do to stop her. The cycles keep on cycling, man.

My initial idea was to include more clips with Operation Phoenix and Phoenixperson but decided that would detract from the purely Rick and Morty focus.

Who is your favourite Rick and Morty Character? This is like asking my favorite It's Always Sunny character... because I love them all for their terribleness. Probably Rick, though Rick wouldn't be nearly as compelling without Morty. Favorite side character would be Squanchyyyyy or Mr. Nimbus.

Which Beth is the clone: Domestic Beth or Space Beth? As a mom, I want to say Domestic Beth is the real one because a parent wouldn't leave their kids... except this is Beth Smith we're talking about, so I think Domestic Beth is the clone. I think our "scared little overachiever" pursued freedom when she knew her family had a fallback.

Do you think that Rick-C137 and Rick Prime were previously romantically involved? "Infinite shit happens." Yes, absolutely.

What do you think would be a good name for Birdperson and Tammy's daughter? Phoenixperson II aka PP aka Peepa (terrible The Office reference).

How many seasons do you think Rick and Morty will eventually have? No clue but I'm here for alllll of them.

Who is your favourite Rick and Morty villain? Evil Morty. I love that manipulative little asshole who found a way out.

Your favourite Rick and Morty episode? How do you pick just one ;_; For Rick's character development, I'd say Rickternal Friendshine of the Spotless Mort. Seeing Rick deal with his feelings for others always hits me hard because he spends so much time denying those feelings. For fun, I'd go with Mort Dinner Rick Andre because I love Mr. Nimbus and I also love seeing Jessica become more than just Morty's obsession.

Your least favourite Rick and Morty episode? One Crew over the Crewcoo's Morty (the popular choice seems to be Claw and Hoarder: Special Ricktim's Morty but I love the slut dragons--currently fostering four cats for a friend while said friend is moving, the youngest is female and going through her first heat, and I will randomly mimic the wizard when she's yowling: "You slut! Shame on you! Shame, you slut! You slutty, slutty slut!" I am giving her lots of lovings and she has a heating pad, though, so she's okay).

Who is your least favourite Rick and Morty character? Beth and Jerry without character development (pre-separation).

What is, in your opinion, the worst thing that Rick C-137 has ever done? Real answer: use his grandson the way he does (codependent, grooming, the list goes on and on). Fan answer: torn between taking Morty's memories and the "save a point in time device" from Vat of Acid.

Do you think that Rick and Morty will be affected substantially by having to change the voice actor for Rick and Morty and a bunch of other characters? Affected, yes. Substantially... I don't know but I'll give anything a shot, especially since Adult Swim did the right thing dropping JR. The cool thing about the show is that there are infinite (heh) ways they can address this, if they choose to address it at all, so I'm excited to see what happens next.

What's a good Rick and Morty blog? All the Rick and Morty peeps I follow are awesome! I hesitate to recommend anyone I don't interact with because DNIs pop up all the time based on stuff I saved in my drafts and later go to queue and have to delete because they have some hateful anti/TERF rhetoric going on, so check out my reblogs and likes to find my favorites. :D

Who is the Rick and Morty character that you relate to the most? This ties back in with IASIP. I don't really relate to any of them, I just enjoy them and their fucked up relationships and situations.

The funniest Rick and Morty bit/scene, in your opinion? This is the one that hooked me on the show, the moment I knew I was a goner for these assholes: Butter robot: What is my purpose? Rick: Pass the butter. (Butter robot passes butter) Rick: Thank you. […] Butter robot: What is my purpose? Rick: You pass butter. Butter robot: [looks at its hands] Oh my god. Rick: Yeah, welcome to the club, pal.

Best Rick and Morty season? My favorite so far has been season 6 (they did such a good job with character development, including Rick backsliding into his obsession with Prime--just chef's kiss).

Worst Rick and Morty season? I've enjoyed all of them so far for different reasons. Much like some of my other favorites (The Office, IASIP), I would say push through season 1 if you're unsure and wait until you get through season 2 before you make a decision about the show.

Would you stop watching the show if Justin Roiland returned? I don't know. Depends on whether a public statement was involved and how much responsibility he took for his actions (versus playing it off). I can't listen to Marilyn Manson anymore (because Brian Warner is an abusive POS) and that band was formative during my middle + high school years (almost as important to me as NIN and I would mourn that loss if Trent Reznor turned out to be trash). Roiland coming back might ruin the show for me.

Your favourite Rick and Morty quote? Hard to pick but right now it would be: "Nobody exists on purpose, nobody belongs anywhere, everybody's gonna die. Come watch TV." This gets me right in the feels because it's true. Life is short, probably meaningless, so might as well enjoy while we're here and have a chance... because this all ends.

If you had to be one member of the Smith family in the next season, who would you want to be? Ooo, I'd want to be Space Beth.

Who is Tammy?

Not too long ago, I wanted to make a speculation post about Tammy Guterman, a side character in Rick and Morty that was revealed to be a villain. Ever since season two’s finale, I’ve been wondering who Tammy really is. What we know so far that she’s actually a Galactic Federation agent deep undercover as a high school teenager and one of Summer’s friends. She does so as she hooks up with Birdperson in “Ricksy Business” as their relationship blossomed throughout season two, only for her to betray her fiancé later on during their wedding in “The Wedding Squancers”.

I was kind of hoping for an explanation of who she really was by the third season premiere. I had numerous ideas of her backstory, like if she was a gromflomite GF agent who was transmogrified into a human teenage girl, or if she was a shapeshifting android who was sent to Earth to spy on Rick Sanchez, and that she also killed off and replaced the real Tammy Guterman. I then had another idea that she was a human GF agent who was born and raised outside of Earth. I mean, it’s not like there weren’t any other human characters outside out earth (see also: Vance Maximus, Alan Rails, Lady Katana).

By the time “The Rickshank Redemption” rolled in, Tammy only appeared in the post-credits scene, where she readies Phoenixperson as they then set off into outer space. We never get to see her early in the episode, neither in the middle of the episode. So far, we know very little about her other than being a high-ranking agent of the Galactic Federation, even though she served as a major antagonist in “Star Mort Rickturn of the Jerri”, keyword: “major”. Soon enough in the second half of the episode, she was killed off like she was nothing, and we never get to know anything about her.

“She died the way she lived: overserialized.”

This is most likely a jab at Rick and Morty fans who demanded serialization in the show. I get that it is Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland’s show (mostly Dan Harmon’s at this point), and they are free to do whatever they want with the show however they please, but I feel like that was kind of a let down in term of the show’s serialization, especially with how Rick toppled the GF and Council of Ricks within the entirety of “The Rickshank Redemption”. Maybe Tammy is just too good for this show at this point. She did reappear again in “Rickternal Friendshine of the Endless Mort”, albeit as both a representation of what she really is (a ruthless GF agent) and what Birdperson imagined her to be (a loving, caring wife).

I think that’s all I got for Tammy Guterman, and probably all I got for an analysis on Rick and Morty at this point, due to the show’s constant inconsistencies. I like to laugh at the show every once in a while, but I can’t help but to not ignore it going down the drain. Season six managed to redeem it a little with the serialization (i.e. the Prime Rick arc), but I’m afraid the staff has to do a lot more to gain back their viewer base, like dumbing down on the meta humor and incest jokes.

Or maybe look for a replacement for Rick and Morty’s voice actor just in case that Justin is found guilty for a domestic abuse case in 2020.

Rick and Morty: The Anime EP#02 - Fighting Mother: Rick gets into temporal paradox during his return trip, and eventually leaps to one universe which Morty is still a baby at its time. He encounters Mullet Rick, who is planning to leave this universe. Mullet Rick recognises Rick as Rick C-137 that stealed the device and Smith family from him before. Rick chases and fights Mullet Rick, because he suspects Mullet Rick invented the entropy device to bring in Beth's miserable life and her marriage to Jerry. Mullet Rick denies himself to be the inventor despite used it to reset universes, and he does not want to get involved in further trouble. The inter-dimensional contact leads to their constant shift in space fissure and potential annihilation of the universe presented in form of a growing energy core. The President has to defend invasion from other countries attempting to capture the core, until the core disappears when Rick is convinced to spare Mullet Rick and continue his trip to meet Summer and Morty. Meanwhile, Space Beth successfully intrudes the capital ship of the Galatic Federation fleet, but gets into a trap set up by Tammy, who is resurrected with cyborg parts like Phoenixperson. The two have a tough fight, before the dummy Rick activates self-explosion and the rebels recruited by Space Beth attacks the fleet. Space Beth spares Tammy considering she has family business to catch up with, and successfully escapes. Post-credits scene: Tammy returns home after her duty, and she finds Birdperson and Birddaughter are waiting at the snowy street.

Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc EP#03 (47) - A Sword from Over 300 Years Ago: To Tanjiro's and Kotetsu's disappointment, the sword has rusted. Hotaru, who had undergone solitary training, arrives to restore it. Tanjiro later attempts to befriend Genya but is rebuffed. Gyokko and Hantengu infiltrate the village. Hantengu faces Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Muichiro, who beheads him. Two new demons grow from his body; one of them, Karaku, blasts Muichiro away with his uchiwa, and the other, Sekido, shocks the siblings with his khakkhara. Genya arrives and beheads them with a sawed-off shotgun and a Nichirin wakizashi. However, the demons split again; the winged Urogi carries Tanjiro away and hits him with a sonic shriek, while Nezuko tries to defend Genya from the yari-wielding Aizetsu. In the forest, Muichiro finds Kotetsu being attacked by a fish-like demon. Initially choosing to leave him, he saves Kotetsu after remembering Tanjiro's advice.
