So, I know a lot of people since Rufus' release have been wondering why he's so off-putting, and while I get that, it didn't take until Hajime's release for me to understand why I get it.

But for the record, I just want to start off, I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with how Rufus looks. A lot of skins are called ugly in this game, with no foundation.

Rufus may look weather-beaten, but that's kind of his design in the first place. He's supposed to be punk aesthetic, and he can't just get away with only looking the part. I think he looks just fine.

Hajime, on the other hand, he's got a squat and determinable snout, and looks every bit the tanuki. So why doesn't Rufus look very much like a raccoon? Other furries have already picked up on this, but I'll tell ya.

Rufus doesn't have a philtrum. It's that bit of the :3 where it's the center of the mouth. In animals, it's more determinable than on human beings. Hajime, has it in spades.

Rufus has a muzzle, but it takes a side-profile, and as far as I'm concerned, that's more than enough for me. But if you're wondering why it doesn't quite fit the bill, it's probably because he's missing that bit that makes it appear more furry on other characters.
