Yes, the BLT. With fresh tomatoes and crispy lettuce, a perfect meal in summer. Fantastic.
Grilled cheese, with its loyal compatriot tomato soup, sure to warm the bones in winter.
I like a club sandwich at a diner. With the festive foil-topped toothpicks holding the works together.
Lobster roll, Italian beef (with the hot giardiniera, get that sweet pepper bullshit out of here), Philly cheese steak, muffaletta, hot brown, banh mi...
All marvelous. Amazing. Fuck yes.
But the reuben. The glorious gift from on high rurben. The king of sandwiches.
Little known fact: if you don't agree that the reuben is the greatest sandwich ever created by humankind, I'm legally allowed, nay obligated, to hold the back of your head, gently mush one into your face while whispering directly into your dumbass non reuben loving earhole...
reubens are the best sandwich, reubens are the best sandwich

I keep forgetting you are also vegetarian!! What sorts of things do you make (if you dont mind talking about it)
I need ideas since I can't really eat most of what my family makes lol
i like to cook from scratch so i don't know how helpful I'll be but I'll lay out some of my favorites
i eat a lot of pasta tbh. fettuccine alfredo, meatless spaghetti (or if i can find the tofu meatballs, that), pasta primavera. I'm trying some mac and cheese with gochujang in it, I'll let you all know how that is.
easy as hell feta tomato pappardelle
not to be cliche and say salad but the nashville hot pickle and spinach dijon make me (a salad hater) like salad. they sell these at walmart or raley's.
i make a vegetarian noodle soup with vegetable broth sometimes. depending on where you are, there's an amy's brand one that's canned. zuppa toscana is a fun one to make if you have veggie italian sausage (i wouldn't put white wine in it. i rarely put wine in anything.)
also korean and indian food is usually vegetarian by default. japchae is really good. it's very vegetable-heavy. i make a cold soondubu (it's usually hot but this is a very good cold for hot days version). this is kong-guksu, which is a peanut sauce ramen dish (better than it sounds).
my favorite indian dishes are palak paneer, tikka masala (i make it with cauliflower or tofu depending), chana masala, basmati rice, and naan.
falafel is vegetarian, and you can make yellow jasmine rice vegetarian easily by making it with vegetable broth instead of chicken broth. and of course, there's hummus and baba ganoush
if you like mushrooms, they're a good substitute for steak on philly cheesteak and this recipe for vegan po' boys is phenomenal.
i make black bean burgers from time to time (i usually buy them bc I'm lazy but they're fun to make). also, black bean and corn tamales are very good. quesadillas are easy too. or cheese enchiladas. they sell vegetarian refried beans too. if not, pre-boiled (or canned) whole pinto beans + vegetable shortening.
we have decent vegetarian sections at the stores i go to. i find safeway and sprouts (I'm not sure if this is a national chain or not) have the best options. i wish i lived in la or sf where all the vegans are.
when in doubt, you just buy nacho fix ins. not healthy but fun and everything that needs to be hot goes in the microwave.
if you need any more recipes or ideas, let me know.

Philly Cheesesteak Soup
Philly Cheesesteak SoupIngredients
8 slices baguette
⅓ cup butter
1 large onion, diced
3 ribs celery, sliced
1½ cups mushrooms, sliced
1 green bell pepper, sliced
⅓ cup all-purpose flour
1½ tbsp Worcestershire sauce
4 dashes hot sauce (e.g., Tabasco)
4 cups beef broth
1 cup half and half or light cream
8 oz provolone cheese, shredded (divided)
6 oz cheddar cheese, shredded
1 lb top round steak, thinly sliced (see note)
Instructions
Prepare the Steak and Cheese Toasts:
Place the steak in the freezer for about 15 minutes to make it easier to slice thinly.
Top each baguette slice with 1 tablespoon of provolone cheese. Broil until the cheese is bubbly, then set aside.
Cook the Vegetables:
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion, celery, and mushrooms, and cook until tender.
Sprinkle in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring continuously.
Add Broth and Simmer:
Gradually stir in the beef broth, mixing until smooth after each addition. Add Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and green peppers. Simmer for about 10 minutes until the vegetables are soft.
Add Cream and Melt Cheese:
Stir in the half and half, simmering for an additional 5 minutes. Remove the pot from heat and add the provolone (reserving a bit for garnish) and cheddar cheese. Stir until melted and smooth.
Cook the Steak:
Thinly slice the steak. In a separate skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned.
Serve:
Place a portion of the cooked beef in the bottom of each serving bowl. Ladle the hot soup over the beef and serve with the cheese-topped baguette slices.
Notes
To use leftover roast beef, cut it into cubes and add with the green peppers to heat through.
Ground beef can be used as a substitute for steak.
Freezing the steak for a few minutes makes it easier to slice thinly.
For a twist, ladle the soup into oven-safe bowls, top with cheese, and broil like a French Onion Soup.

My dad used to absolutely LOVE one of my stories for the punchline that came at the end. I must have told it to him two, maybe three times over the last 15 years and, even though he knew the punch line that was coming, he loved it anyway and would laugh every time like he was hearing it for the first time.
It was a true story, and it happened at lunchtime in Hartford.
Warren, my uncle, sent me down the street one afternoon with a twenty in my hand, telling me: "Go get us a couple'a hot dogs from the hot dog cart."
So I jumped in my old '86 Ford and drove the four blocks down the street from where Warren worked at the time and parked it near the hot dog cart and walked over.
There was some guy in line in front of me already, a salesman I'm guessing, based on his clothes: a London Fog raincoat (It was misting that day) open in the front, revealing his suit underneath.
The guy inside the little hot dog cart looked like an angry Mario from that Mario game: short, with black hair, stocky build, with heavy, black eyebrows like twin strips of Velcro.
He was pushing the spatula around on his griddle, so that the caramelized onions wouldn't burn.
That's when this guy in front of me made the fatal mistake of trying to engage Mario in small talk: "So... think we're gonna see some rain today?"
Mario at this point began to push all of his onions, followed by the red peppers and the meat for the Philly cheese steak grinders off to the edges of the griddle.
Once everything was safely at the edge of the cooking surface and not at risk of burning, he angrily banged his metal spatula against the griddle three times - HARD - to get any remaining food off of it before pushing that to the edges as well and setting the spatula down.
Mario whipped around and his facial expression told us both that he was supremely pissed at being interrupted in the middle of his workday with something so vanishingly unimportant as small talk.
With one hand on his hip and the finger from his other hand pointing at the area above his twin strips of Velcro, he says to the poor bastard in front of me:
"Da FUCK's it look like?!? Like I got a fuggin' WEATHER RADAR in my FOREHEAD?!? How the fuck should *I* know what it's gonna do?!?"
Having settled that question, Mario whipped around and went back to the business of caramelizing his onions and cooking the steak.
The salesman, thoroughly cowed at this point, lowered his gaze to the ground and waited quietly for his order, so as not to further antagonize The Hot Dog Psycho.
When it was my turn to step up, it must have looked like a scene out of Seinfeld's Soup Nazi episode: I respectfully ordered two hot dogs and kept my fucking mouth shut while he went about the business of preparing my lunch.
Pretty sure we stuck to Burger King from that day on.

Wellness Wednesday:
Still Rolling
I know I said this in the past...
And I know I said I know I know I said this...
But I honestly (again) thought this would be the first week that I would plateau and/or not lose any weight.
Sure in the grand scheme of things - 1.8 pounds is not much - but consistently over 17 weeks continuing losing weight and not gaining weight once floors me.
Losing weight yet again has me thinking about rewards... like maybe if I break 60 pound mark... maybe I will buy myself "xyz"...
I not going to use food as a reward, but I have been thinking about celebrating with unique rare experiences (back massage, pedicure, road trip, escape room) and/or a gift to myself (combing Amazon now).
In other news, I finally bought a new pair of pants. I went down 4 pant sizes - feels nice not to walk around in baggy clown pants .
As well, the weather is getting nice. Looking forward to chilling outdoors at barbecues and playing yard games.
All and All - I am feeling good.
