Who are named in Jeffrey Epstein documents? Big names like Bill Clinton, Naomi Campbell, Alan Dershowitz confirmed

The people whose names were revealed include sex abuse victims, litigation witnesses, Epstein’s employees, and people with a passing connection to the scandal

Hundreds of pages of documents from a lawsuit connected to Jeffrey Epstein have been publicly released. The list has mentioned big names like Prince Andrew, Bill Clinton, and Michael Jackson.

The names revealed were listed in court documents filed as part of accuser Virginia Giuffre's lawsuit against Ghislaine Maxwell. The names, before being unsealed, were listed in court papers as variants of J Doe. Many of the names had been previously revealed as well.

Notably, every individual named in the list is not accused of wrongdoing. The people whose names were revealed include sex abuse victims, litigation witnesses, Epstein's employees, and people with just a passing connection to the scandal. Some names were redacted.

Epstein allegedly sexually assaulted multiple teenage girls. Some of his victims were as young as 14 years old, prosecutors have said. He committed the crimes at his homes in Manhattan; Palm Beach, Florida; and his private island near St. Thomas.

In 2019, federal prosecutors charged him with one count of sex trafficking conspiracy and one count of sex trafficking with underage females. Epstein died by suicide in his Manhattan jail cell about a month after being arrested, and the charges against him were thus dropped.

His partner Maxwell, who was also involved in the crimes, is now serving a 20-year prison sentence after being convicted in December 2021. She was accused of helping Epstein recruit and sexually abuse minor girls.

Jason: "Listen, Detective Reed! Although this village is the company's heart, you still need to reach New Henford and there the Estate's and Landholding's office. We have copies of their maps in our archive and we should go them over immediately, so that we can get you on the best plots of land - connected, with access to freshwater sources. To get considered for that, you tell the land grand office that you want to raise cattle on an industrial scale."

Gavin: "Cattle. In the forest."

Jason: "We are merely taking advantage of the law the way it is written. That was some smart thinking of you to come here ahead of the main trek by a full day, by the way! It gives us time to get you in the know about technicalities such as the cattle paragraph and to arrange things in our favour."

Gavin: "I'm not discussing any of your dubious land speculations with you, before you have not agreed to re-supply us with food and ammo."

Jason: "That goes without saying! It's in our best interest to keep you alive. We were four owners, now with the boys we are five, but that's preferable over the government putting up Amanda's shares for auction."

FASHION CREDITS: LADY GAGA FOR BRITISH & ITALIAN VOGUE

Lady Gaga is simultaneously the December cover star of the British Vogue and Italian Vogue! She was lensed by famed photographer Steven Meisel. British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, who styled Gaga’s spread, said he wanted to dress her in “something fabulous”. Mission accomplished!

On the first of two covers, the Italian-American superstar poses fiercely in a look from Schiaparelli’s Fall/Winter 2021 collection titled “The Matador”.

Strapless dress in wool crêpe with a plunging heart-shaped neckline. Entirely lined with a pleated silk made by hand for an exaggerated bubbled volume effect that redefines the dimensions of the silhouette.

"For two years, I’ve been saying that I didn’t care about nostalgia. This season, though, it’s where it all started. I found myself wondering, again and again: What if you combined a little Manet; a little Lacroix; a little 1980s; a little 1880s; a little matador; a little space alien; a little Ingres; a little shimmer; a lot of color? Could I do it? And what would it look like?" Daniel Roseberry said.

Her Multiplication yellow-gold, platinum and diamond flower clip-on earrings ($25,000) belong to the “Schlumberger” collection of Tiffany & Co.

French luxury jeweller Boucheron provided a handful of stunning jewelry for this editorial. On the cover we can spot the Serpent Bohème with 23 motifs entirely covered in brilliant diamonds. It’s valued at $222,000.

I had to pick up my jaw multiple times after seeing Gaga wear one of my most desired pieces from this couture season.

Also from the aforementioned Schiaparelli collection: fitted basque jacket with exaggerated arms in various Mikado silks, satin, and faille weaves. Underneath, yellow moiré bodysuit with bejeweled crotch, and bi-colored bejeweled crotch stir-up pants.

The embroidery techniques, done by Lesage, are inspired by the Schiaparelli archives and include traditional volute in gold strass, gold pearls, rhinestones, lurex thread, multicolored thread embroidery in ochre silk faille, embroidered with gold thread spindle stretch lambskin in bi-colored lamé and black.

The fashion mogul paired the look with a lace-trimmed Spanish ruff collar from costume retailer Angels Fancy Dress...

...and white lace gloves by Wing & Weft Gloves which she layered with the Maya delicate ivory nylon scallop chantilly valencienne lace cuffs adorned with a bee-shaped jewel (£225) by emerging designer Azima Musayeva!

A stunning cocktail ring was worn on each finger. 

First row: Cartier Panthere Caline ring crafted from pink gold, emerald, diamond and onyx, the panther coils around the cabochon-cut rubellite – the stone suggesting an indistinguishable flame, the fiery colour of passion – and weighs an impressive 14.89 carats. Stacked above is the De Beers Aella oval-shaped diamond ring and next to it one of Bvlgari’s Serpenti rose-gold diamond rings.

Second row: two of them, the Serpent Bohème L motif yellow-gold diamond ring ($‌22,750) and Plume de Paon large feather ring ($‌20,550) are by Boucheron while Buccellati made the flower-shaped Opera ring composed of fans and garlands in white-gold set with diamonds, laterally "rigato" engraved, centering an octagonal white-gold leaf-modeled bezel set with a diamond.

Another ring of hers is from Chopard’s “Animal World” collection.

To complete the look, she wore Pure Matte 20 black knee-high socks ($16) by FALKE...

... and the Schiaparelli black satin pumps with silk-faille bows adorned with trompe-l'œil gold metal toes bearing silver toenails.

In this next shot Gaga looks majestic wearing the voluminious tip-dyed ruffled tulle top and pants from Japanese designer Tomo Koizumi’s Fall/Winter 2021 Haute Couture collection...

...which she crowned with a pearl-embellished silver metal fabergé cage headpiece with integral ehadband from the archival Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter 2013 collection we’ve talked about before.

Luxury glovemaker Paula Rowan created the Montserrat pink leather opera-length gloves ($432). Available in tons of colors!

These two looks are both from Valentino’s Fall/Winter 2021 “Valentino Des Atelier” Haute Couture collection.

First one is the bubblegum pink-colored silk-faille hooded sleeveless column gown and off-the-shoulder opera coat. The second one is a 60s-inspired conical pink knitted cape mini dress. J’adoreeeee!

For this vintage Italian movie star-inspired look, Gaga posed in this Chanel Fall/Winter 2021 Haute Couture black bonded silk gown with ruffled shoulders, slit paneled skirt revealing white fringed silk organza underlayer and satin bows.

She also wears a necklace and platinum, gold and diamond flower clip-on earrings by Graff...

...and the Brigitte suede leather gloves with folded detail by Paula Rowan ($561).

My little fashion heart is filled with pure joy seeing how this editorial is filled to the brim with all the couture looks I wanted, wished and needed to see Gaga in before I rest myself down.

Here, she wears the Balenciaga silk-shantung coat embroidered with faux feathers by Maison Lemarié, the glossy lacquer dome hat created for the collection by Philip Treacy, and Swarovski crystal & resin-pearl statement earrings, all from the Fall/Winter 2021 Haute Couture collection.

On her index finger we can spot the Mikimoto Circle white-gold, diamond and pearl ring ($40,000). Her ring finger carries a large platinum and diamond cocktail ring from Cartier’s “Fauna and Flora” collection.

For the penultimate look, the Italian-American beauty is clad in one of the final pieces from Pieter Mullier’s debut for Alaïa’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection: a sleeveless, fitted white jersey foam gown with structured shoulders, mock-neck and semi-transparent curved side panels.

Her white cotton balaclava with vinyl mask and Velcro strap closure was custom-made for our girl by milliner extraordinaire Noel Stewart.

Last but definitely not least, a black velvet long-sleeved cut-out detail dress with mermaid tail skirt from the same Alaïa collection, paired with a fine lace cape from the stylist’s archive.

Talking of lace! The incredible hooded catsuit, Gagaloo wore underneath the smooth beauty, is from the Fall/Winter 2020 “Rebel of the Future” collection of emerging designer Sarah Regensburger.

She crowned the look with with a custom Philip Treacy black feather showgirl headpiece based on an archival design.

Her wrist-length black lace gloves are by Wing & Weft Gloves.

Now, the jewelry. She wore a haute joaillerie grand moonstone, black-spinel, aluminium and white-gold necklace from Chopard’s “Fleur d'Opales” capsule collection which was layered on top of a jet beaded choker and necklaces from Angels Fancy Dress.

Lisa Eisner Jewelry created both her Wyoming black jade scarab ring with polished bronze, and the square-shaped black jade cocktail ring which was made in collaboration with Tom Ford for his 2015 collection.

Her other orbit-like gold flower ring is from Dior’s Fall/Winter 2021 Haute Couture collection.

'Me', 'Gaston' and 'Be Our Guest' are all predominantly missing and recording stopped for some time after 'Gaston', which created a little jump in the timeline to where Maurice gets thrown out of the tavern. Still a nice video with great closeups of the last Broadway cast.

What's missing is: Grandma's song "We Go Dancing", the scene between Dad and Tony, the beginning of "Deep Into The Ground", and the scene between Mrs. Wilkinson and Dad discussing Billy's ballet. It appears the filmer was trying to conserve battery power and was trying to focus on Billy's scenes. DVD has been enhanced with main menu and thumbnail images for access to the various songs. A-

Very nice video of the show however a bar can be visible in wide shots but it doesn't interfere with anything.

NOTES: A fantastic capture of the second tour cast. This is the first known dvd of the 2NT, and the cast doesn’t disappoint. David and Cody are strong leads with great voices and comedic timing. Pierce is perfect as McKinley. Tallia also does a great job; she has a strong belt and does an endearing rendition of Sal Tlay Ka Siti. This is a very nice capture with no obstruction or blackouts, and only a bit of washout in superwide shots of high-contrast scenes. The video is very steady and the sound is excellent as usual. It’s filmed in 16:9 with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. Includes curtain call.

1. Overture/Work Song - Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean, Terrence Mann as Javert (Original Broadway)

It’s a big, bombastic, awesome beginning. I definitely vibe with the especially over-the-top synth and these particular convicts’ generally growly, desperate tone. Wilkinson’s Valjean, eternally my favorite, doesn’t seem feral like some versions I’ve seen, but rather like he’s trying so hard to just be good and get through this and keep it together, until he snaps a bit at “My name is Jean Valjean” and the way he acts that gives me chills. Mann’s Javert seems more cold than over-the-top aggressive, which I always like, although he doesn’t stick out thaaat much to me.

2. On Parole/The Bishop - Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean, Paul Monaghan as Bishop Myriel (10th Anniversary)

I love everything about Wilkinson’s Valjean’s “freedom is mine” bit. His unique diction and his perfect tenor-ness and the hope in his voice...yeah. The way he hits and holds that “fliiiiiiiight” note is also pretty perfect. It sounds like the scream he was holding in the whole time he was in prison. I also appreciate Monaghan’s Bishop’s sudden earnestness at the “But remember this, my brother” part and the way he holds that last low “I have bought your soul for God.”

3. Prologue/What Have I Done? - Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean (Original London)

Wilkinson’s Valjean seems to make the beginning part properly fast and frantic, then switches to a gentle, heartwrenchingly vulnerable tone, then his absolutely anguished “this is all I have known.” As always, he excels at those high notes and long notes.

4. At the End of the Day - Lea Salonga as Fantine, Alfie Boe as Jean Valjean, Jeff Nicholson as the Factory Foreman (25th Anniversary)

All the women here sound so angry, at everyone and everything, and it’s pretty great. Honestly, it was Nicholson’s factory foreman here that really caught my ear, with his nasty “oi!” after the “and in a bed” line and his frankly terrifying “on your way!”. I like Salonga’s Fantine’s note of desperation, although she honestly could sound a little angrier. This track includes a tiny bit of the beginning of “I Dreamed a Dream” and then cuts off — sorry about that.

5. I Dreamed a Dream - Maureen Moore as Fantine (1988)

Something about this recording makes it sound like it’s much older than it is, and that slightly echoey sound makes it sound all the more haunting. A lot of Fantines sound enraged here, and I like that too, but something about Moore’s just utter sadness and vulnerability just sells it for me like no one else can. She sounds so young, because Fantine is. And then the way she belts “shame” is perfection. The way she goes from quiet and gentle at the beginning to desperate belting at the end and then the soft last lines murders my soul every time.

6. Lovely Ladies - Randy Graff as Fantine (Original Broadway)

Honestly...I haven’t found a version of this song that I love yet. There’s still this air of humor to it that feels incongruous at best and mean-spirited at worst. But I really like the worn-out, older sounding voices of a lot of the women singing to Fantine, and Graff’s Fantine’s anguish and slightly breaking voice is definitely good, as is her “don’t they know they’re making love to one already dead?”

7. Fantine’s Arrest - Caissie Levy as Fantine, Nathaniel Hackmann as Jean Valjean, Earl Carpenter as Javert (2014)

I love Levy’s Fantine here, with her fear and her fierceness. The way she spits out that “even a whore who’s gone to the bad won’t be had by a rat” is perfect in every way, as is her pleading after. Carpenter’s Javert has a lovely bass and is also cold and punchable, as all Javerts should be. This is one of the only songs on this playlist I have a video for, and I appreciate the blocking; the women crowding around Fantine and then fleeing, and the way Hackmann’s Valjean keeps his distance from Fantine and generally radiates  respect and tenderness.

8. The Runaway Cart - Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean, Terrence Mann as Javert (Original Broadway)

Thank you @lesbianrung for this recommendation! The ensemble sounds frantic and scared here, sometimes screaming more than singing, but for a chaotic scene like this, it works. Mann’s Javert is more reserved here than some I’ve seen, a bit more like the authority-fearing, self-loathing Brick Javert. Wilkinson’s Valjean sounds like a wreck when he’s begging someone to help him lift the cart, does a great little nervous laugh on “say what you must, don’t leave it there,” and belts his “how can you be sure that I am not your man” to excellent effect.

9. Who Am I? - Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean (Original Broadway)

Hey quick question did I mention that I love Colm Wilkinson? God that tormented shiver in Valjean’s voice...the softness of that last “I am damned”..his buildup up to “I’m Jean Valjean”...the way he hits that last “two-four-six-oh-oneeeeeeee”...yeah no there is one (1) Jean Valjean and that is Colm Wilkinson.

10. Come to Me/Fantine’s Death - Ruthie Henshall as Fantine, Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean (10th Anniversary)

Henshall’s Fantine sounds so gentle yet so powerful here. The way she sings “I will sing you lullabies and wake you in the morning” absolutely shatters me and always will.Her belting sounds beautiful and clear and perfect, vulnerable yet strong. The way she fades out on her last word, “wake,” is utterly haunting. Wilkinson’s Jean Valjean sounds soft and caring, and the way he half-breathes a lot of the words is. Oh.

11. The Confrontation - Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean, Philip Quast as Javert (10th Anniversary)

Quast’s Javert has a true bass quality that really, really works, like in the way he says “you’ll wear a different chain.” In general, the way he seems to bite off his words and the steely determination of his voice is perfect. He balances really well with Wilkinson’s Valjean who, for the first time, sounds scary, but can switch to softness for the dead Fantine. The last “I will be there” is excellent all-around.

12. Castle on a Cloud - Zoë Hart as Little Cosette (Original London)

Hart’s Little Cosette is insanely good! She really does sound like a little kid and still has awesome acting and she’s in tune! Her “there is a lady all in white, holds me and sings me a lullaby” bit is heartbreaking.

13. Master of the House - Barry James as M. Thenardier, Gay Soper as Mme. Thenardier (International Symphonic)

James and Soper are my favorite Thenardiers of all time, by far. I like this longer version that mentions M. Thenardier’s Waterloo shenanigans. James’ Thenardier sounds gleefully evil, and I like his whispery, growly tone or rowdy almost-shouting. You can absolutely hear his nasty grin. His affected r-rolling also reminds me a lot of the Brick characterization. Soper’s Mme. Thenardier has a weasely quality to her voice that seems appropriate, but she does not shy away from the ruder lines (”lifelong shit,” “not much there,” “up the master’s ass,” etc.) and she, like her husband, seems to be having a lot of fun and lapping up the attention. I adore how she delivers her “bastard in the house” line.

14. The Bargain/Waltz of Treachery - Barry James as M. Thenardier, Gay Soper as Mme. Thenardier, Gary Morris as Jean Valjean, Marissa Dunlop as Little Cosette (International Symphonic)

Morris’ Valjean and Dunlop’s Little Cosette’s “la la la la la la la la” harmony is amazing and tender and adorable and may or may not make me cry which is not supposed to happen before Act II. Morris’ delivery of his “now her mother is with God” and “I stand here in her place” lines is powerful, too. The Thenardiers sound delightfully sleazy and dramatic, too. I like that Morris’ Valjean sounds actually angry at them, unlike many others I’ve seen. I almost have to admit though, I miss the movie version of the final lines, where they had “Will you be like a papa to me?”/”Yes Cosette, yes it’s true, I’ll be father and mother to you,” while here, like in other stage shows, they have “Will there be castles and children to see?”/”Yes Cosette, yes it’s true, there’s a castle just waiting for you” because 1) I like Valjean’s father and mother role that Hugo kept talking about in the Brick, and 2) in the musical, it seemed pretty clear that there weren’t actually any other children around Cosette until Marius showed up!

15. Suddenly - Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean (2012 movie)

Yes, I’m including this song from the movie. Honestly, I don’t like the song itself that much, and I don’t think Jackman’s Valjean has the strongest voice, although his acting is extremely sweet, and when he almost whispers “full of light” and “like the sun” I definitely almost lose it. But I’m mainly including this song because the musical really did need a song that fills this role. The stage musical devotes a weirdly small amount of time to Cosette and Valjean’s relationship, considering that it drives Valjean’s actions for the rest of the story and it is central to the Brick (and one of my favorite parts of it, too). This is the first time that Valjean has ever felt truly loved in his life! Something suddenly HAS begun!

16. Look Down - Ross McCall as Gavroche, Anthony Warlow as Enjolras (International Symphonic)

I fell in love with this version because of the ensemble, honestly. It started out loud and powerful and strong, even more so than the Overture/Work Song bit. McCall’s Gavroche is beyond perfect, though. He is strong and sassy, and angry too, more than most Gavroches in the beginning, but he also sounds so young! Warlow’s Enjolras has an incredibly powerful voice as well, and makes a pretty awesome first impression.

17. The Robbery - Carrie Hope Fletcher as Eponine Thenardier, Rob Houchen as Marius Pontmercy, Cameron Blakely as M. Thenardier, James Gant as Javert (2013)

This is another song I’ve got the blocking for. It’s pretty standard, although I always like when a Marius, like Houchen’s, gets involved in the Fray to defend Cosette. I love the dynamic between Fletcher’s Eponine and Houchen’s Marius, with affection and teasing and care, and their little smiles and head shakes, but also with a bit of discomfort on Marius’ end — he seems a little awkward about trying to get his books back with minimal contact, and he seems to be deflecting the “I like the way you grow your hair” thing as nicely as he can, but definitely deflecting. Blakely doesn’t make much of an impression as Thenardier (although his “told you so” is really funny), and Gant is not my favorite Javert, but Fletcher’s “It’s Javert” is ridiculously awesome.

19. Eponine’s Errand - Kaho Shimada as Eponine Thenardier, Michael Ball as Marius Pontmercy (International Symphonic)

I wish this recording weren’t missing Gavroche’s little part beforehand, but I think Shimada’s Eponine and Ball’s Marius are worth the trade-off. Shimada sounds a little softer and sadder here, not angry like in some versions, which I don’t mind. But when she sees Marius, she switches to determinedly playful which is all the more heartwrenching. And her “I don’t want your money, sir” hurts. Ball’s Marius’ voice is nice and lovestruck and also not softening his single-minded obliviousness. I like his gentle desperation at his “Eponine, do this for me.” I also like that the lyric here is “don’t let her father know” instead of “don’t let your father know.”

20. Red and Black - Eddie Redmayne as Marius Pontmercy, Aaron Tveit as Enjolras, George Bladgen as Grantaire (2012 movie)

Embarrassing as it is to admit, Eddie Redmayne is my favorite Marius. He’s emotional and, well, a noodle, but also very sweet and sings well and has a higher, lighter voice than most Marii I’ve seen. He’s young!  They’re all so young! And I like that Tveit’s Enjolras feels a lot less shouty here ; it's more accurate to Brick descriptions of his interactions with his friends, and reflects his kind of angelic vibe. And I definitely appreciate that Bladgen’s Grantaire’s mocking is a little softer here — he knows a thing or two about impossible love. I do love his little laugh when he says “it is better than an opera.” And that last “they will come when we call” makes me feel things.

21. Do You Hear the People Sing? - Michael Maguire as Enjolras (Original Broadway)

Sometimes you need an angelic Aaron Tveit, and sometimes you need a powerhouse Michael Maguire. Damn.

22. In My Life - Judy Kuhn as Cosette, David Bryant as Marius Pontmercy, Frances Ruffelle as Eponine Thenardier, Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean (Original Broadway)

Kuhn’s Cosette has such a sweet voice, and you can hear her quiet fierce excitement in the beginning. She manages to sing Cosette’s high notes with softness and gentleness really well for the most part, although I’m not that fond of the sound on her “does he know I’m alive? do I know if he’s real?” high notes. Wilkinson’s Valjean seems gentler than some of the others I’ve seen, even on the “no more words” bit, and a lot of his negative emotion seems to be directed inward. Bryant’s Marius is in love, and sounds perhaps a bit too confident and a bit too old for my taste. No, what really stands out here is Frances Ruffelle’s Eponine. God, I love Frances Ruffelle’s Eponine. Starting off strong with that agonized “every word that he says is a dagger in me,” she sounds so young, with an almost-whiny, heartwrenching edge that reminds me the most of her Brick characterization, but she gets so gentle on her last “waiting here.”

23. A Heart Full of Love - Katie Hall as Cosette, Gareth Gates as Marius Pontmercy, Rosalind James as Eponine Thenardier (2010)

This recording picks up with James’ Eponine’s “waiting here,” definitely an interesting comparison. She sounds awesome throughout this piece, with a lovely warm alto voice. And I love love LOVE Katie Hall’s Cosette, with all her strength and sweetness. God, you can hear her smiling. She shines the most when she sings her softest lines, like “no fear, no regret,” “I'm awake,” and the last “after all.” Gates’ Marius is incredibly charming, but still absolutely an awkward mess, and you can hear him dying inside when he says “oh God, for shame, I do not even know your name.” The balance between all three of their voices is perfect.

24. Plumet Attack - Frances Ruffelle as Eponine Thenardier, Bernard Leo Burmester as M. Thenardier (Original Broadway)

Burmester’s Thenardier is properly scary here. Once again Ruffelle’s Eponine steals the show, belting all of her lines perfectly. Her “told you I’d do it” is haunting and perfect and brave in that oh-so-Eponine way, with a hint of petulance.

25. One Day More - Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean, Terrence Mann as Javert, Judy Kuhn as Cosette, Davis Bryant as Marius Pontmercy, Frances Ruffelle as Eponine Thenardier, Bernard Leo Burmester as M. Thenardier, Jennifer Butt as Mme. Thenardier (Original Broadway)

Everyone starts out so soft, and they make this song build so perfectly and balance each other out impeccably. Ruffelle’s Eponine’s “one more day all on my own” bit rises above it all, and her voice sounds so clear and powerful and good. Also did you hear that loud and long “one day more!” out of Wilkinson’s Valjean? And Les Amis’ triumphant swelling chorus? Everyone here is superhuman, I swear.

26. Building the Barricade (Upon These Stones) - Michael Ball as Marius, Kaho Shimada as Eponine Thenardier, Anthony Warlow as Enjolras, Philip Quast as Javert (International Symphonic)

It’s mistitled as “At the Barricade” but I pinky promise it’s not. Ball’s Marius sounds genuinely concerned and touchingly pissed. Shimada’s Eponine is sweet and playful, and her “little you know, little you care” has very little bite, which I’m not sure I like. What I absolutely adore, though, is the bit where she delivers Marius’ letter to Morris’ Valjean. Shimada sounds suddenly shy, and Morris seems in full adopting mode. Something about this exchange just feels incredibly sweet to me. And then when Morris reads Marius’ letter, and his little pause in the “you love me as well” part is perfection.

27. On My Own - Frances Ruffelle as Eponine Thenardier (Original Broadway)

What can I say? Ruffelle’s Eponine absolutely kills it. She has a lovely husky voice that sounds sweet and sad and angry and powerful and broken all at once. I love the way she sings “in the rain, the pavement shines like silver” and “and I know it’s only in my mind, that I’m talking to myself and not to him” and “all my life I’ve only been pretending” and of course that “a world that’s full of happiness that I have never known.” The way she builds up from sweet fantasizing to absolute anguish...and then she breathes out those last “I love him”s and she sounds like the teenager Eponine is. God. I need a moment. Or several.

28. Javert at the Barricade - Terrence Mann as Javert, I can’t find the Gavroche which enrages me to no end (Original Broadway)

Mann’s Javert isn’t as dramatic as I’d like, but I’m here for Gavroche. I do miss the Les Amis dialogue that happens in newer versions of this song, but the older version of this song, which includes a lot more of “Little People” is better in my opinion because it makes Gavroche’s death scene all the sadder. I adore this particular Gavroche’s sassiness and spunk and his powerful voice.

29. A Little Fall of Rain - Frances Ruffelle as Eponine Thenardier, Michael Ball as Marius Pontmercy (Original London)

Ruffelle’s Eponine sounds so utterly vulnerable here, but with a hint of strange almost-happiness that reminds me of the Brick’s version of her death scene. Her voice feels lighter and sweeter here than anything else, and Ruffelle’s Eponine always has a different way of singing when Marius can hear her from how she sings when he can’t, and here we feel them merging together, especially at her “hold me now and let it be, shelter me, comfort me.” And I adore Ball’s Marius softness here, especially during the duet part. His “hush-a-bye, dear Eponine” is angelic. The whole song feels so intimate with them. This is always the point where I start crying.

30. Night of Anguish - Michael Ball as Marius Pontmercy, Anthony Warlow as Enjolras, Gary Morris as Jean Valjean (International Symphonic)

Somber all-around, and everyone’s voice is good. No performer sticks out that much, to be honest. I do get chills whenever the “Drink with Me” theme comes on in the background. And when Jean Valjean comes in, the rising terror of Les Amis becomes apparent, and all their voices are strong.

31. The Attack - David Burt as Enjolras (Original London)

Again, a plot song in between the big ones, so not too much to say here, but everyone sings well.

32. Drink With Me - Aaron Tveit as Enjolras, George Bladgen as Grantaire, Eddie Redmayne as Marius Pontmercy, Daniel Huttlestone as Gavroche Thenardier (2012 movie)

Just to warn you, the sound doesn’t kick in until a few seconds in. I absolutely love this version (once the generous poster re-added Grantaire’s solo, of course). I love Tveit’s Enjolras’ weariness and gentleness at the beginning, reminiscent of Brick Enjolras who loves his friends in his fierce and quiet way. You can hear the heartbreak in his “Marius, rest.” I love how Huttlestone’s Gavroche echoes Les Amis’ lines throughout the chorus — I’ve never seen that in any of the stage productions. And God, Bladgen’s Grantaire. He is so much more earnest here than others I’ve seen, and I appreciate that he gets quiet on “can it be, you fear to die?” as if he’s past defiant anger and is already grieving. He just has a clear, lovely voice. And although it sucks that the movie cut his solo out and it had to be edited in this way, I almost like how faraway it makes this part sound, as if Grantaire is still holed up in the Corinthe with his wine, looking down at his friends, half-awake and helpless. I appreciate that Redmayne’s Marius’ lyric was changed from “Would you weep, Cosette, should Marius fall?” to “Would you weep, Cosette, if I were to fall?” because it sounds a lot more like something someone would actually say. Also, this is another clip with video, and I’m really happy with how it looks, especially the way both Enjolras and Valjean are off to the distance and the way it pans to Valjean when Marius is singing about Cosette.

33. Bring Him Home - Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean (10th Anniversary)

Wilkinson’s Valjean starts out so quiet, with the perfect sweet spot of vibrato. Literally all of his high notes sound perfect and still expressive! I almost don’t know what to highlight, but just listen to how he decrescendos on that “I am old, and will be gone” and the power in that “if I die, let me die” and that absolutely ethereal last “bring him home” which he holds for so so long for a note that high for a tenor. This man has the range, darlings.

34. Dawn of Anguish - Anthony Warlow as Enjolras (International Symphonic)

Warlow’s Enjolras absolute grief and tenderness is absolutely heartwrenching. The way he delivers the line “we will not abandon those who cannot hear.” And that little “Drink with Me” reprise feels like getting stabbed. Whenever they end it with “if I die, I die with you” I stop breathing for too many seconds.

35. The Second Attack/Death of Gavroche - Daniel Huttlestone as Gavroche Thenardier, Aaron Tveit as Enjolras, Hadley Fraser as the Army Officer (2012 movie)

Huttlestone’s Gavroche is amazing. You can hear that he’s in pain but not even scared as he sings in a clear, powerful voice. Fraser also killed his “you have no chance, no chance at all” and I’m honestly surprised he didn’t get cast as one of Les Amis. And, of course, Tveit’s Enjolras’ “until the Earth is free!” could have singlehandedly killed King Louis-Philippe.

36. Dog Eats Dog - Bernard Leo Burmester as M. Thenardier (Original Broadway)

Barry James’ Thenardier might be the funniest, but Burmester’s will always be the scariest. His growly tones and big dynamic changes and dramatic enunciation really make this. The breathy way he says “when the gutters run with blood” and his powerful final “the harvest moon shines down” is beyond chilling.

37. Javert’s Suicide - Philip Quast as Javert, Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean (10th Anniversary)

Wilkinson’s Valjean here is the angriest I’ve ever seen his portrayal of the character. There is so much pent-up bitterness in his “I knew you wouldn’t wait too long.” Quast’s Javert is wonderful, as always. In his duet part with Wilkinson, with his half-feral “I will be waiting, two-four-six-oh-one,” both of them shine. And then during his main soliloquy, when he goes from snarling, “it is either Valjean or Javert!” to sounding so soft and lost as he begins the “how can I now allow this man to hold dominion over me?” bit. And at his “by granting me my life today, this man has killed me even so,” you can hear him making his choice to jump, and it’s awful, and it’s perfect.

38. Turning - Original Broadway Cast

Oh, this song is so underrated, and these people do a particularly amazing job with it. Their voices sound so tired and worn, sometimes old and rough, sometimes young and light, and all of them heartbroken. Their “where’s that new world now the fighting’s done” and the way they sing the round section is haunting and beautiful.

39. Empty Chairs at Empty Tables - Eddie Redmayne as Marius Pontmercy (2012 movie)

I have to say, no one does this one like Eddie Redmayne. His Marius’ grief is absolutely crushing. I like how this arrangement goes super light with the instrumentals at first, and how Redmayne’s Marius starts off very soft. His “at the table in the corner” section gives me goosebumps every time, and he nails every single high note. And by the time we reach “phantom faces at the window,” he seems to be letting it out, and his “oh my friends, my friends, don’t ask me what your sacrifice was for” has me sobbing.

40. Every Day/A Heart Full of Love Reprise - Katie Hall as Cosette, Gareth Gates as Marius Pontmercy, John Owen Jones as Jean Valjean (2010)

Ah, Les Mis, killing me with the parallels once again. This version seems to go by awfully fast, but Hall’s Cosette and Gates’ Marius are properly sweet, and JOJ’s Valjean is gentle and sad and heartbreaking. All of their voices balance each other well.

41. Valjean’s Confession - Gary Morris as Jean Valjean, Michael Ball as Marius Pontmercy (International Symphonic)

I really don’t like versions that shorten this; I feel like Jean Valjean needs to be wordy here. In the Brick, he’s almost hysterical. Morris’ Valjean is so gentle, and you can hear the pleading and pain in his voice, on phrases like “she’s had enough of tears” and “to save his sister’s son” and then his voice is so powerful and despairing on “who am I?” and then when it gets soft..yeah I’m not okay. Ball’s Marius’ “it must be so” is pretty, but he doesn’t stick out that much compared to Morris’ powerhouse performance. Also, God the score playing “who am I?” in the background was just cruel. I love it.

42. The Wedding Chorale/Beggars at the Feast - Barry James as M. Thenardier, Gay Soper as Mme. Thenardier, Michael Ball as Mariius Pontmercy (International Symphonic)

James and Soper are just the right Thenardiers for the job. They are clearly having an extremely good time, and I love their sniveling and their scheming and their flamboyance. Ball’s Marius acts very well here too. I love his scoff at “do you think I don’t know who you are?” and his anger on Eponine’s behalf.

English jeweller Laurence Graff bought this ring for $2.6 million during a Christie’s Auction. It became one of a kind due to the maroon central colour of the diamond and even rarer due to the diamond’s octagonal shape.

Queen Mary’s diamond Riviere and La Peregrina pearl

It has an estimated price of $1,828,224. This was owned by England’s first female ruler Queen Mary. It is considered to be one of the world’s most exclusive jewels that include a Diamond Riviere. It was crafted from 34 old cut authentic diamonds set in gold and silver and given as a gift by the queen to her granddaughter Princess Margaret.

Harry Winston’s diamond drop earrings

This piece of jewellery is a  heart shaped diamond weighing 56.15 carats. It was originally cut from the Cullinan Diamonds, which the Cullinan 1 is now a part of Britain’s Crown Jewel collection and was sold for a staggering  11 million dollars.  The diamond was part of the Magnificent Jewels collection which became available for purchase on May 2011. Christie’s (the seller)  marketed the diamond as “Love At First Sight,” and released it for public view on Valentine’s Day.

Containing emeralds, rock crystal and diamonds this piece was auctioned at Christie’s in London and was once used as an adornment for the Maharaja’s favourite elephant.

Once owned by Queen Marie of Romania this symbolic piece of brooch made out of Pecten shell was used as a crowned monogram for Princess Marie. It was crafted by C. Faberge and belongs to history of Russian Royalty.

Annuit cœptis: part 3

Gavin was in one of those rare sleeps where his body woke up before his eyes opened. They might as well be harbingers of doom because waking up in this manner meant only a handful of things, none of which were good. 1) he was so stressed for an impending morning appointment that the stress woke him up before his alarm woke him up; 2) he had horrible sleep, which has fortunately not been all that often ever since Richard had begun sleeping with him. But there was a third option, one that was most likely given the circumstances. 3) he'd been knocked out.

Gavin's eyes fluttered open to reveal Arthur's lifeless face staring back at him.

He yelped as he scarpered backwards, heart hammering in his chest. He stared at Arthur, desperately willing his breathing to slow, trying to come to grips with what he was seeing. Was this real life or fantasy? Was he imagining Arthur lying there? His eyes roam the body before him, taking in Arthur's naked form, the unnatural mixture of flesh and white plastic, the smashed-in skull, the unlit LED that caressed Arthur's right temple.

"Arthur…" he whispered.

"Sad, isn't it?"

Gavin whipped his head around to find Richard standing before him. He scrambled to get up, words dying in his throat as he saw the corkboard on the wall behind Richard. Portraits of David Bowman, Jason Graff, 42, and the KL900 were all on the board beside hundreds of other portraits, and at the centre was a single picture of a teen Arthur smiling into the camera. He gazed at the faces, many familiar, some not, a mix of androids and humans. Gavin couldn't find a link between these people. He didn't know their backgrounds to figure it out.

He continued to stare at the display, trying to make sense of it all. They couldn't all be targets. Surely this many people couldn't have done something to piss off RA9 that bad. He approached the corkboard, staring at the pictures until his head was dizzy. He checked his pockets quickly. He couldn't find his phone, but his wallet, pistol, and handcuffs were still there. Whoever knocked me out was real dumb, Gavin thought to himself.

On a desk beneath the corkboard was a variety of different papers. On the top was a medical leave notice for Arthur. Jason Graff's signature was on it. There was a time stamp for when it was submitted but not a time stamp for when it was accepted. The scroll of truth RA9 mentioned, Gavin thought.

Richard strode up beside Gavin and looked at the corkboard dispassionately. "A genius in the making, equal if not greater than Elijah Kamski in terms of intellect, and instead of achieving greatness he was pushed aside and bullied by his lessers. He was given the support of his family and his friends, but in his darkest times, they abandon him. They snuffed out his life." Richard gestured at the desk. "All the evidence you need is here."

Gavin could not concentrate on the myriad of papers that were strewn across the desk, a mini-documentary of Arthur's life for him to see. He glanced at Richard. His eyes narrowed at his change of clothes. He was wearing his old CyberLife outfit, one that Gavin thought Richard got rid of months ago.

"Your clothes," Gavin murmured.

"My old clothes got messy," Richard said emotionlessly. "I had this as a back-up. I didn't think to use my disguise of you for fear of frightening you."

There was something off about Richard. His speaking lacked the spark of life it held nowadays, and the way he stood was so stiff. Gavin glanced at Richard's glance and saw that the scar that once beautifully cut across his left cheek was gone. It's like Richard had reverted to his state when they first met. Cold, emotionless, perfect. Without a soul.

No, Gavin thought, it's like he's someone else.

Before Richard could react, Gavin took the pistol out of his holster and levelled it at the android in front of him. Richard did not react. Not a trace of a reaction aside from a cock of his head.

"Detective?"

Fuck, Hank warned him that imposter androids were a thing, but he didn't think it'd happen to him. Richard was supposed to be the only RK900 ever, there wasn't supposed to be another. What the fuck did Hank say? If you need to find out their identity, ask them something only your android will know. Fuck, if this guy knew the contents of Richard's briefcase, then that means he was captured, which meant they could have probed Richard's memories. Unless this really was Richard and he was still stuck in investigative mode, which was also likely.

Phck.

"Detective Reed?" Richard asked, taking one step forward.

"Don't you fucking move!" Gavin ordered, levelling his pistol perfectly at Richard's head. His eyes narrowed with purpose. A way to suss the real Richard from the imposter. Think, what did he know? He remembered that when transferring memories, the most recent stuff was the last to get transferred and was also the most difficult to access, so chances were that this RK900 didn't have Richard's memories from today. So what the fuck did Richard learn about Gavin that an imposter wouldn't know?

An idea sprung into Gavin's head. It was an idiotic idea, but it might just work.

"You," Gavin ordered, "what's my fucking name?"

"Your name?" Richard scoffed incredulously.

"My name, dipshit. What's my fucking name?"

"Why are you asking me? It's Gavin Reed."

CLICK! CLICK! CLICK!

Gavin stared incredulously at his gun. Where were the bullets? He had a full clip—had, being the keyword. Someone took all the bullets out. "What the fuck?"

"You shouldn't have tried, RK900," a voice behind Gavin said. "He's smart. He is Arthur's brother, after all."

Gavin swivelled behind him, training his empty gun at the mysterious voice. He shouldn't have been surprised with who he saw. "I always knew you were crazy, Philip."

Philip Seymour only smiled. "Looking for your partner?"

"What'd you do to him?" Gavin gritted his teeth.

"Nothing yet. Your RK900 is surprisingly resilient." Philip let out a quiet chuckle. "You gave him a curious name. Richard, was it? I nearly had a heart attack when I saw him earlier."

The imposter RK900 walked over to Philip Seymour's side. Knowing the small details about Richard's mannerisms, Gavin was ashamed for thinking he thought this guy was Richard. That thing may look like his partner but that's where the similarities end. This plastic prick couldn't pretend to act like a human if it tried.

"You killed them," Gavin said to the RK900. "David Bowman, Jason Graff, Claire. You're fucking RA9."

RA9 let out a smile but it seemed forced, as though it thought this was the most appropriate response. "Congratulations, Detective Reed. You've solved the case," RA9 said condescendingly. "Has this stoked your ego enough?"

Gavin ignored RA9's comments, turning his attention back to Philip. "You sent your lapdog to kill them, but you're the mastermind behind it all. That shit about the new order of the ages, that's all you. And for what? For Arthur?"

"Of course I did it for Arthur," Philip said. "I mentored him all these years, I helped him become the man he was, and for what? For his peers to look down on him time after time? To leave him alone in the darkness of his own thoughts without a light?"

"You're not family, and you're barely a friend, you were just his fucking mentor for a couple years. Why the fuck do you care about Arthur so much?"

"He was family to me. He was the son I never had. So many people have wronged him and I have failed my duty as his father to protect him. But no more. I will make sure everyone who's failed him suffers."

Gavin was struggling to take all this in. This was a confession. This fucking idiot was confessing. Fuck, why didn't he have a recording device? This was enough to convict these two bastards for life.

But a question struck him suddenly, and the words fell out of his lips before he could stop himself. "Chloe," he said to RA9. "She thought Richard was you. You held her captive. But for what?"

"I needed the biometrics of an ST200 android," RA9 said simply. "How else would I get my hands on Arthur?"

Gavin remembered that grainy footage from Elijah's place of Chloe descending that elevator. He always thought something was off about her in that footage. Now he knew why. The proportions were all wrong. It was RA9 in drag.

Gavin should have felt so fucking happy for finally having this mystery solved, but all he could feel was the slow shiver that ran down his spine. He should be a target, he realised. He should have been shot, or stabbed, or have his body paraded all the news. Maybe all three. Why were they just standing there, telling him what he needed to know?

All of a sudden Gavin's throat felt so tight.

"Why…" he paused, the only visible sign of weakness Gavin allowed, "…why are you telling me all this?"

"Haven't you guessed already?" Philip's lips turn up into a twisted smile. "We want you to join us, Gavin. We want you to join our family."

Philip and RA9 took a step forward, causing Gavin to take a step back. He'd take one more step backwards, but the back of his shoe brushed against the leg of a nearby table. His eyes dart across the room searching for an exit. There was only one door, and it was directly behind Philip and RA9. There were a couple glass windows, all covered in dusty red curtains. Worst case scenario, Gavin could smash the windows with his pistol and escape that way, but it was too risky. He of all people knew what RK900 androids were capable of.

He turned back to the pair, who looked at him expectantly. He suppressed a shudder. "W-why?" Gavin asked weakly. "Why do you want me to join you?"

Philip tilted his head and smiled. "You loved Arthur ever since you were a kid. The relationship you two had was one of support and care. I bet, even after all those years you still love him."

Gavin didn't answer, but his silence spoke lengths. Tried as he might, he couldn't ever truly forget Arthur. He did love him like a brother, even till this day.

Philip gazed down at the Arthur android and sighed longingly. "We both know this city is changing. Androids are becoming legal citizens and walking amongst humans, laws are being written and rewritten to accommodate for them. The city is changing, but it's not changing enough. CyberLife is still out there, cowering in the shadows, waiting to make their next move. I've seen the future they want to make, I saw the statistics. They will only bring ruin. They've already ruined Arthur's life, they've already ruined our lives. Until that company is razed to the ground, I won't stop. Not until Arthur has been brought to justice. Not until a new age without CyberLife is here."

Philip's words made a strange amount of sense. CyberLife was horrendous, and he never liked them before. Looking at the corkboard of pictures, Gavin supposed they were the next targets. and in all honesty, those scumbags at CyberLife probably deserved it one way or another.

The pistol in Gavin's hand quivered. "What about Richard?" Gavin whispered.

"What?"

"What about Richard?" Gavin said, slightly louder than before. "What about my partner?"

"Why does that matter? You can always get a new android." Philip gestured to RA9. "I can always lend you one of my androids if you want. After all, why work with a deviant when you can have an android that listens to you?"

Something within Gavin snapped. He lunged for Philip but RA9 was quick to react, grabbing Gavin by the throat and slamming him to the wall. The surprise of the attack made Gavin drop his empty pistol to the ground. He delivered a brutal kick to RA9's abdomen, a well-known android weak point, but RA9 did not budge.

"You did not accept our offer. That's strange. There was an 84% chance you would join us." RA9's LED remained a cool blue. "Could it be my statistics were wrong?"

Gavin just spat into the android's face. RA9's jaw clenched as he used his free hand to wipe the saliva off. Even with one hand, Gavin couldn't do anything to get away.

"I'm only going to ask this once, detective, before I deal with you myself. Why do you not want to join us?"

"You really wanna know?" Gavin smirked as proudly as he could—not an easy feat when his face was getting blue from lack of oxygen and his throat was burning for air. "I actually give a fuck about the law. Not like a plastic dildo like you would understand."

For a second RA9's grip weakened and Gavin could just barely see the flash of a yellow LED from his half-lidded eyes, saw the first true sign of emotion within RA9. An expression of surprise and fear, of having the very core of your beliefs being challenged. Gavin was half expecting the android to go deviant then and there, but then RA9 turned Philip, and the man gave a solemn, hesitant nod.

"Kill him," Philip said remorsefully.

Suddenly the hand around Gavin's throat tightened, cutting all oxygen to his body. The last refuge of his energy was spent kicking and fighting, a futile attempt because it did nothing to RA9. He could feel his larynx begin to collapse into itself, felt the numbness spread through his limbs. His consciousness was beginning to fade. Richard…

RA9's eyes widen and his LED flash red, and suddenly Gavin was dropped to the ground. He gasped in relief for every gulp of air that graced his lungs. RA9 retreated into Philip's side as they quietly conversed something in hushed whispers. The ringing in Gavin's ears was too loud to hear what they were saying, but it was soft enough to hear a different sound.

The sound of multiple police sirens approaching.

"We should go," Philip grumbled.

"Indeed," RA9 uttered.

The pair leave, locking the door behind Gavin. It's not long before the police sirens get closer and closer until they blare loudly outside Philip Seymour's house. A few minutes later, Gavin could hear the muffled orders of a SWAT team amidst the din. He'd shout for them, but his voice was mangled, and he barely had the energy to say anything, let alone stand. They bust down the door and Gavin craned his head up just enough to see Captain Allen's face.

Fuck, he'd never been so happy before to see that stone cold asshole.

"Irwin," Gavin rasped.

"Reed?" Irwin's eyes go from his body to the board behind him before silently signalling someone to help Gavin stand. He could only imagine what his throat looked like at that moment, black and blue and all sorts of twisted unnatural colours. He figured it must look horrendous because it hurt so fucking much. If strangling was a kink he had, it's certainly not one anymore.

"P-Philip…RA9…" Gavin started.

"We've blocked off the house, but we haven't seen Philip Seymour. He's RA9?

Gavin nodded in a stilted manner. It hurt to move his head too much. "Him and…RK900..."

"Your partner?"

"No...different android..." He turned his head slowly to Captain Allen's direction. "Richard…where is he?"

Irwin's lips dipped. "We found him hooked up to a machine. Your perps were trying to reset him. Pulled the plug on it when it reached 97%." He paused before adding, quieter, "He's comatose at the moment. High probability of memory corruption. We're taking him back to the precinct to get fixed up, but at this moment in time, it's anyone's guess whether he'll remember anything."

He put his hand on Irwin's shoulder to steady himself. For once, he didn't try to shake him off. "There's more…" Gavin said hoarsely.

Irwin hesitantly nodded. "They're saying if the corruption's spread too far into his systems, it might be better to reset him completely. He'll go back to square one. Won't remember you, or his friends, or anything."

Gavin nodded slowly, worried about Richard's condition but ultimately satisfied that he was safe and well. He finally allowed his conscience to drift away.

Later that day, they watched an android technician work on Richard's plastic, naked white body. His skin was disabled, a necessity for the technician to work, and apart from a few comments of disgust about Richard's dick (Why the fuck did they make it blue? Hank famously inquired, after which everybody glanced at Gavin), the room was silent. Apart from the technician working on Richard, there was Gavin, Hank, Connor, Captain Allen, and Inspector Perkins in the room, all watching from a distance. The DPD's collection of assholes all together, some might say, not including Connor, who Gavin thought was in a category of his own. They stood at a corner of this dinky little workshop in the DPD basement as the technician began the process of hooking up Richard to an elaborate looking machine. Static energy travelled through everybody as all but Gavin shared uneasy glances. Gavin couldn't give a fuck about everybody else. He'd already told them everything he knew. He couldn't glue his eyes away from Richard even if he tried. He was this close to losing him, this fucking close.

His hands tighten into fists by his side.

Connor cleared his throat loudly in hopes of getting everybody's attention. "W-well, now that we know Philip Seymour and RA9 are the murderers in this case, I've put out their descriptions to the other precincts. The commissioner has decided to keep this information private until tomorrow. It'll be a manhunt for them both. They can't escape."

Connor was half right in Gavin's opinion. Philip Seymour won't escape. He's too old and too distinctive and he's blind as a bat. He will be found easily, but that other RK900 was a different creature altogether. Gavin knew that RK900s were specifically designed for espionage purposes, hence their ability to camouflage themselves and their exceptional computer and hacking skills. RA9 could literally be anyone. It might as well be invisible.

Gavin could feel Connor's nervous glance his way. He wrenched his head in his direction and gave out a low huff. Connor's LED blared yellow but he did not falter. "…I did some additional research on Philip Seymour for you, Gavin," Connor said. "He was fired from CyberLife for stealing androids and messing with their systems. All of the androids at his place were deviants at one point or another, reset against their will to their base functions and re-registered to see him as their master." Connor turned to Richard's prone body. "If we were a minute late, Nines would have been reset too."

"If you were a minute late, I'd be dead," Gavin grunted.

Hank bristled. "Don't get shitty with me, Gavin. If Connor wasn't worried about the two of you, no one would have gone to Philip's place." Hank wagged his finger threateningly in front of Gavin. "Connor fucking saved your life."

"I know," Gavin snapped, almost immediately regretting the harshness in his voice. "I…I know." He glanced warily at Connor, who's giving him puppy eyes. He shifted on his feet uncomfortably and crossed his arms. "Thanks, I guess. For not getting me killed."

Connor smiled sympathetically. "You're welcome."

"Are we not going to talk about the elephant of the room?" Perkins shook his head incredulously. "You let the suspects get away, Reed."

"In case you haven't noticed, Jackal, I wasn't in any state to chase them." Unconsciously he brought a hand to his neck. It still hurt if he touched it, but it would otherwise heal. Until then, it's another scar to add to his collection.

"You had every authority to shoot the android on sight, but you didn't."

"My gun was emptied before I had a chance, and before you start accusing me of being all cosy with androids, that RK900 is not my partner. I would have put a fucking bullet right between its eyes if I was given the chance. Don't mistake my relationship with Richard for thinking I'm fine with all fucking androids now, because I'm not."

Perkins backed off, grumbling under his breath. Beside him, Connor frowned while Hank shook his head disapprovingly. It wasn't a complete lie. Gavin was not comfortable around androids and seeing what they are capable of, that opinion won't change, but he was beginning to respect at least some of them. The androids that worked hard to be on equal footing as humans, the ones that fought tooth and nail to be where they want to be, they had Gavin's respect. Richard had earned his position on the force, as well as Gavin's respect. Connor too.

Gavin crossed his arms over his chest. "What are you going to do then?"

Perkins' brows furrowed. "What do you mean?"

"My 48 hours is up as of half an hour ago. You're still the lead on the case. What the fuck are you going to do now?"

Perkins' face mellowed into a neutral expression. "We're going to find them and jail them, simple as that."

"What, no bigger plan than that?"

"You know I'm not allowed to discuss details to someone not on the case." Perkins gestured at Gavin's neck. "Enjoy your precious free time. Get your neck looked at. You found the culprits. Good for you. But now it's my turn to finish this."

Captain Allen added, "If there's anything we think you need to know, we'll tell you, but for now, just rest. You've done your job."

Perkins glared at Captain Allen for offering confidential information, but an equally menacing stare back left him quiet. Gavin turned back to Richard, watching as a flood of data washed over a nearby computer screen. He'd seen this process done a few times before. The technician was finally going to access Richard's memories. This was the moment of truth.

The technician looked at the files in fascination. The five were too far, but they were all inching forward to see. Gavin was no exception. The technician gasped.

"Oh my god," they said.

"What, what?" Gavin asked hurriedly. He ignored a stifled chuckle from Hank and Irwin.

"He's encrypted his memory files. Every single one of them." Seeing Gavin's confusion, the technician let out a sympathetic smile and added, "your partner should be perfectly fine. I'll start him up now."

It was a tense few seconds as the technician pushed a couple buttons and closed Richard's chassis into him. On bated breath, Gavin approached slowly, keeping his eyes on the unlit LED, waiting, waiting.

The LED spun blue slowly, then violently fast, as if making up for the lost time it spent unmoving. Richard's simulated breathing kicked in, chest rising as he took in a large, unnecessary breath. His eyes fluttered open, half-lidded. They search the room until they land on Gavin. A small tired smile left his lips, one that left Gavin breathless. Gavin reciprocated with his own smile. The tension coiling in his stomach felt like it was fading away.

Gavin heard the sounds of shoes on the tiled floor moving further and further away. Without a word, everybody decided to leave the two in privacy. Connor was the last to leave, hovering by the doorway and giving a cheeky smile over his shoulder.

"Don't take too long," Connor teased before walking away.

As soon as the door is gently shut, Gavin rested his hand on Richard's cheek, thumb tracing the familiar scar, fingers speaking more for his emotions than anything his lips could say. There was admiration, relief, fear, all dictated by the slow trail of a thumb from Richard's cheekbone to the lobe of his left ear.

"Richard?" Gavin whispered.

He did not respond, only stared. Dread filled Gavin's bones. What if this was RA9 also, or a third as-of-yet unidentified RK900?

"M-my name," Gavin whispered desperately. "Please tell me you know my name."

A quiet chuckle left Richard's lips as he raised one hand towards Gavin, silently beckoning him closer. Gavin leaned forward and felt long, slender fingers card through his hair.

"Gawain is a terrible name for you," Richard smiled warmly. "Piss me off and I might start calling you that."

A giggle left Gavin, which quickly grew into laughter. Tears stained his eyes and he couldn't tell if he was laughing because of Richard's joke or because he was so fucking relieved Richard was alright. Probably the latter. He pressed his forehead into Richard's chest for a moment to collect himself, droplets of clear liquid staining the plastic, and when he raised his head, he's met with a look that melted away all the pain of today into a pile of goo at his feet.

Richard propped himself up on one elbow and pulled Gavin's head to him so he couldn't look away from the pristine plastic body in front of him. Not that he'd ever want to. Warm air breathed onto Gavin's lips, the soft glow travelling down to his stomach, and soon their lips meet in a gentle caress. Gavin could feel Richard's desperation all from a flick of his tongue, the fear of loss as he moaned into his mouth. For once, it's Richard who leads with Gavin at the android's mercy, and it felt strange compared to all the kisses they shared before but it also felt warm and safe. It's just them, together. As it should be.

They break apart and Gavin was rendered truly breathless. He stared at Richard's snow white lips, still slightly puckered.

"You know," Gavin started, "I always wondered what it'd be like to fuck in here."

Richard rolled his eyes but the smile remained. "Don't entertain the idea. There are cameras in here. I wouldn't want to get fired just because you couldn't keep it in your pants."

"You're naked and lying on a table already," Gavin smirked. "We're already three-quarters of the way there."

"Are you actually going to suggest a blow job? In this room right now, literally after we've almost got ourselves killed by a serial killer?"

"You're not saying no," Gavin pointed out.

"There's still the issue of the cameras."

"So if the cameras weren't a thing, you'd consider it?"

Richard groaned, tilting his head backward to the ceiling. From Richard, that wasn't a complete refusal, and a not-complete refusal usually meant he's at least thought of it. Fun as it might be to tempt fate and ask Richard to hack the cameras, Gavin's luck didn't seem to be on the positive side today. He grabbed a bundle of clothes from behind him, all cleaned and pressed by Connor less than an hour earlier, and plopped them beside Richard.

"For me?"

Gavin nodded, wincing at how the small movement hurt his neck. No moving his head. New memo.

"Help me out?"

Gavin grinned. "With pleasure."

With two pairs of hands (one pair taking its time feeling up Richard's body), he was dressed and presentable. He swivelled his body and slowly settled his feet on the ground, testing his stability before slowly standing up. Gavin waited at arm's length on the off chance Richard needed help but he had already hopped off the bed and made his way for the exit.

"Hey, Richard, you forgot something."

Richard looked over his shoulder. "What?"

Gavin quickly captured ground and pressed his lips to Richard's own for a quick, searing kiss. He couldn't stop the smirk on his face. "Your skin's still disabled."

Richard put a hand to his face, then smiled sheepishly. His body reverted back to his normal human appearance as though nothing had happened, and he quickly exited the workshop, hoping that by getting out quicker he will avoid Gavin's teasing. Gavin decided to let Richard think he won, but he's certainly going to tease him about it later.

Outside of the room, everyone—Hank, Connor, Allen, and Perkins— was deep in conversation. They were probably deliberating on what to do now that they knew who the culprits were. Connor was probably talking about what RA9 could do, Hank was probably mindless agreeing with Connor, Captain Allen was counter arguing, and Perkins was probably being a pissy baby as usual. Despite the literal pain in his neck, Gavin felt what could be described disappointment. A part of him wanted to be the one to bring Philip and RA9 to justice. A sense of closure, Gavin thought, that was what he wanted. Instead, he'll have to settle for being the detective who found the culprits, even if by accident.

Richard took another step forward, alerting the group of four to his presence. Connor was the first to react, tackling Richard with a hug so strong it knocked the breath out of his synthetic lungs. Hank's the next, giving a relieved chuckle and his signature "glad you're OK, kid", living up to the old guy stereotype he had been cultivating now that his old drunk stereotype was gone. Captain Allen just gave a nod, and after jabbing Perkins in the ribs with his elbow, Perkins gave his own disinterested words acknowledging Richard's condition. At least Richard seemed happy with it.

"Fowler just called me, Reed," Captain Allen said. "You and your partner Rico got three days of holiday."

Gavin didn't want to have a holiday, and he's sure Richard didn't want one either, but there was no real excuse he could make. The 48 hours were up. They were both injured. No passionate speech about their detective abilities and their personal stakes will move Perkins to reassign them. Not unless Elijah engineered another miracle where only they could be involved. But lightning doesn't strike twice, and he's pretty sure he used up the last of Elijah's goodwill.

Suddenly Gavin's phone started ringing. An autotuned voice started singing. Go cops. Get the dogs. Let's go fuck with old folks. That's right, let's get high, and pull over black guys—

Before people could stare at Gavin for the highly inappropriate ringtone, he quickly clicked accept and put the phone up to his ear, turning away from the small crowd. "Eli, why the fuck are you calling me now?" He half-whispered, half-shouted. He really should change that fucking ringtone. How old was it now?

"Has something gone wrong with Richard? He's acting a bit weird."

Gavin's eyes widened. He stared at Richard, who was trying his best not to roll his eyes as Connor excitedly talked about dogs for the five-hundredth time. There was a lengthy pause, in which Gavin tried to think up the most delicate way he could ask for more info. "What are you talking about?" was what he decided on.

"Well, he's here at my place saying something about how I might be the next target because of my ties to CyberLife—"

"WHAT?!"

"—and I need to be relocated. But listen, have you two had a falling out recently? He's not acting like himself."

"Eli, get the fuck away from him. That's not Richard."

"What are you talking about?"

"Just stay there, and someone will come to you. But for the love of god, don't let on that you know."

"Let on that I know he's what?"

"The murderer," Gavin said. "The fucking murderer's in the house with you."

There were a few seconds in which Elijah didn't say anything. Then, in a voice weaker than Gavin had ever heard before, he asked, "What…what do I do?"

"Stall him. Don't let him on that you know his identity. Play along."

Elijah took in a breath to speak, but before he did there was a sound of a door opening and the call was cut.

Gavin finally turned to everybody, but they were all already staring at him. From the unnaturally stony looks on their face, they probably have already guessed the context of the phone call. One less thing to worry about.

"How lucky for you," Perkins grumbled without his usual malice. Even he was affected by the news. "Your cousin's the next target, and you've got the only piece of technology we can track him with. Everything's coming up rosy for you."

"No, it's not," Gavin said.

"No?"

"This isn't some coincidence anymore. Philip Seymour and RA9 have been careful about their murders, leaving as few witnesses as possible while still keeping it public. But to kill Elijah Kamski, or at least keep him hostage, there's all his Chloe androids and the police stationed outside his house as witnesses. They're not doing this just for Arthur anymore. They're targeting me too."

"I don't think so," interjected Richard. "Before I went into emergency shutdown, I managed to pick up the memories of one of the androids that worked at Philip Seymour's place."

Richard turned to Gavin. His lips were thin and his face was a perfect mask of indifference, but his eyes said all. They spoke of the fear Richard was too proud to show.

With his palm outstretched, a screen projected, showing a multitude of videos crudely cut and pasted together. It's androids pulling the Arthur android into Philip Seymour's home, a shot of the schematics for CyberLife's warehouses, a glimpse at an abandoned android factory where a singular, sleeping RK900 android lied. The serial number #313 248 317 – 88 appeared on a very familiar CyberLife-issued outfit. Richard's serial number, #313 248 317 – 87 then appeared on a piece of paper, circled and crossed out in red pen. A clip of Gavin and Richard from the Regina case appeared on a computer. Philip tampered with the wirings of the RK900, the viewpoint android occasionally handing tools.

Philip closed the chassis and wiped the sweat off his forehead. He turned to the RK900 android. "State your name, RK900," Philip said.

"Error. The RK900 series is a prototype series of androids. Default names have not yet been given."

"Is that so?" Philip sighed. "Fine. Register yourself, RK900."

"Registering."

Philip's lips pulled into a contemplative smile. "How about…RA9?"

"I am RA9," the RK900 said.

"State your functions."

"Compared to my RK800 predecessor, I am stronger, smarter, and faster. My durability is twice that of a standard android and my processing units are top of the range. I share the same functionality and abilities as my RK800 predecessor alongside unlimited access to whatever information systems I am able to penetrate as well as additional appearance modules designed to mimic a variety of different faces and bodies." The RK900 blinked. "In other words, I am an extremely efficient hacker and I can shapeshift."

"Is that so?" Philip smiled wickedly. "If that's the case, I think the two of us are gonna be very good friends."

The android merely stared forward, unmoving, unemotional.

Richard's projection died, and he remained standing, not moving his outstretched palm. He looked into Gavin and the walls he built for himself began to crumble. He tilted his head high, trying to make himself seem above it all, trying to make it look like it didn't affect him.

"They're known about us from the start, Gavin."

"They thought they know us," Gavin clarified. "They tried to recruit me into their sick little 'family'."

"You know what this means, right?"

"Yeah," Gavin said quietly. "They're targeting the both of us now. You and me, Richard. And by kidnapping Eli, they're killing three birds with one stone."

Richard's brows furrowed as he stared at the ground. His LED glowed yellow, and remained yellow for quite some time, an inescapable sign of his apprehension.

Martin Graff introducing a brand new piano instrumental: “Sativa,” featured on the artist’s “Trips for Piano” EP

March 2022: Martin Graff is a pianist and composer who is exceptionally talented at creating music that defies the usual expectations. His most recent studio effort, "Sativa", is a perfect example. This composition is featured within his new EP, “Trips for Piano.”

The sound feels all-embracing and immersive, not only providing a soothing, trippy vibe, but also allowing the listener to experience a more immersive deep dive into the sound. Martin Graff shows a lot of versatility, and his sound could undoubtedly be categorized as a clever and personable blend of genres like score music or neoclassical soundscapes. It is not always easy for artists to allow different styles to coexist under one roof, but "Sativa" makes it look very seamless, as the release feels like a perfect balance of these different influences, enabling the audience to gain an insightful perspective on what drives Martin Graff as an artist and music creator. In the end, it’s all about connecting and inspiring! In this case, you can get plenty of inspiration without even a single word being uttered. The melodies are sparse and minimalistic, yet richly nuanced. The dynamics in Martin’s playing are absolutely outstanding, allowing him to go whisper-quite in some parts, while taking his piano to its loudest, fullest dynamics, especially when he hits the thundering low notes that makes his compositions stand out. Playing with different octaves is a great way to achieve a more “dramatic” effect, and Martin is really a master of this throughout the new EP. However, the big variety of sound doesn’t detract from the essence of this release, which as the title might imply, aims to be a musical journey, perhaps with a bit of an introspective touch. This album is like staring back at your own soul and perhaps getting to know it a little better than before due to the enlightening and somewhat liberating nature of this fantastic musical voyage.
