Because they go all the way back to when he was a history nerd and she was (only) “very intimidating”. Because he was there when she became “The Cavalry” and she was there when he became the Director. Because he held her as she fell apart and told her what he thought she needed to hear. Because she put together his team, watched over him in secret. Because cockpit chats. Because she was his right hand. Because she went back in the field to watch his back. Because we all know she was allowed to touch/drive Lola (and any of his toys). Because they’re lost without each other. Because they might’ve loved other people but they never trusted anyone as much as they trust each other (I’m looking at you, Roz). Because she saw him and she means everything to him. Also this hug? SO IMPORTANT. I mean look, Jemma has been separated from Fitz. Drama has gone down. They were both in danger. But no matter what is going on, the first thing she sees is Fitz. The only thing she cares about in that moment is being with Fitz, grabbing him, and making sure he’s really there. She needs that solid reassurance that Fitz is still there with her. She is starting to feel what she will prove later on in the series: Jemma Simmons will move heaven and earth just to have Fitz by her side.

Seriously, this episode is SO GOOD. It still keeps me on the edge of my seat, and I’ve seen it tons of times. It definitely rates a 12/10 on the TENSE SITUATIONS scale. Also 10/10 on the Philinda Giving Me the Sads. And of course 12/10 on the Fitzsimmons Hugs scale.

Our song for the episode is “Tusk” by Fleetwood Mack because honestly I find it to be a very tense song. Just like this episode.

So I finished Agents of SHIELD. I started rewatching two weeks ago and finished the last episode tonight.

I was sad. I’m glad Daisy got at least some kind of happy ending. I’m so freaking glad FitzSimmons got a happy ending with their daughter (!!!). I’m glad everyone else got a peaceful end (except Deke like wtf no one rly acknowledged his sacrifice???)

I was so happy. After Endgame, I was very distraught about Daniel Sousa. I dearly loved him and Peggy together. As much I know Peggy loves Steve, it sucked that he went back to be with her. She had moved on. She had healed. AoS gave me a lot of closure with that. We got to see that Sousa would not have been able to be there for Peggy. He would have died. She would have been heartbroken, but she had Steve instead. Not only that, but Sousa got the happy ending he deserved. Though I still want to know what happened to Jack Thompson.

I was nostalgic. It was very weird rewatching in the past couple of weeks. I saw the first season and a couple episodes of the second before life got crazy and didn’t have a chance to keep up. I wasn’t nearly as immersed in the MCU as I am now, so the storylines involving aliens were lost on me. (Now I was watching with excitement because I recognized Kree blood and other things from other movies.) I vividly remember pieces of the first season. I remember hearing about it when it was announced and being so excited to watch it. I remember shipping Skyeward and FitzSimmons so hard. I remember being disgusted when I found out May and Ward were sleeping together. I remember being absolutely outraged when Ward turned on them (I was still reeling from Winter Soldier and remember actually yelling in anger.) I remember when I low-key shipped May and Coulson when no one else did.

This was a great ride. Thanks to the whole cast and writers and producers for a great show. It truly showed an entirely different side of Marvel that I thoroughly enjoyed.

we really could have had it all if not for the fucking fact that not only was every single season was up in the air but even when they were given 2 EXTRA SEASONS after writing a backup series finale in s5, it was cut to half the usual amount of episodes they were used to and ultimately by then the writers already dug the grave for that relationship (a literal grave as they actually killed him for real that time)

Fitzsimmons: My otp. I really love them together. They compliment one another really well and I love how they support each other and can still be honest. They can be a bit blinded to the world because they care so deeply for each other (like Jemma jumping through space even though the rest of the team felt it better to wait and Fitz being completely focused on bringing Jemma back at the start of Season 3), but at the same time they love their team and I love that they work together to protect those they care about. I think that they deserve the love they get. I love that they never try and tear the other down but always support each other. I just love them a lot. They’re the best.

Philinda: I love Philinda. They are definitely the mom and dad to me. I do love that they had their moment together, but I also wouldn’t have minded if they were kept platonic. They have such a wonderful mutual respect between them and I love how they respect the relationships they had before one another. I wish that if they had given them more time as a romantic couple or have kept them platonic. It just felt like they weren’t given enough time to develop that side of that relationship. But at the same time, I think there is a message that is supposed to be taken from that. Still, I want more for them.

Mackelena: UNDERRATED!!!! There is so much mutual respect, so much love, and so much agency between these two! They care so deeply for one another and work on their relationship. They work to learn more about the other, work to learn for the other. They are also honest with each other and don’t let things fester. They bring up issues in a loving and caring manner and never cast blame. They are also such a power couple. They are strong individually and even stronger together. They make each other better and I love that. They deserve more credit!!!

Huntingbird: Huntingbird is iconic. I think that their relationship gets misunderstood. They don’t fight with hate and they don’t break up because they suddenly despise each other. They love each other deeply but are never reliant on the other. I think that they are both strong individuals that respect each other’s space. They also listen to one another and work beautifully together. I love that they make each other laugh. I wish that they had been brought back and/or had gotten their own show!!
