gotta geek out over the sheer craft of sunny’s writing for a moment because the way they just effortlessly introduce gut-wrenching and pivotal pieces of character lore and backstory, whether it be 4 or 12 or 16 seasons in, in a way that just feels so natural, like “oh, of course this thing happened in the past,” like a puzzle piece clicking into place, is just next-level.
i think always sunny should try to have an episode entirely dialogueless in season 17, like the x-files' Rm9sbG93ZXJz (that's the episode title ok)
mostly because it would be an extremely funny response to the whole Most Words Per Minute In A Sitcom thing, but also because they all have great facial acting and i think they could actually pull it off
(Obi-Wan as the intrepid reporter on his last day at work before getting married and moving upstate, insisting he won't miss the job at all and is actually looking forward to being a stay-at-home husband for a while, thank you very much. Anakin as both his editor/boss and ex-husband, throwing one last juicy story his way, ostensibly as a 'one last hurrah' present but not-so-secretly mostly to try to convince Obi-Wan to stay and get back together. There's a murder suspect, Anakin gets Obi-Wan's fiance 'accidentally' arrested, they uncover a sinister plot involving crooked cops and politicians...and obviously Obi-Wan and Anakin get back together. Obviously. )
(In fairness this could also work with the roles reversed. But I like Anakin as the jealous ex.)
I’m super into comedies and writing and all that stuff, and I prefer more sophisticated humour (and generally English over American shows), so despite iasip being one of my all time favourites, it’s rare it actually makes me laugh - so I would like to document the only two times it’s actually made me burst out laughing:
s11e5, mac and dennis move to the suburbs: the scene when they’re talking about the old black man in the storage room makes me lose it every time. it’s so so so funny to me for reasons inexplicable
s10e6, the gang misses the boat: when charlie and dee are in the diner and charlie accidentally yells out beak when trying to order. i can’t explain this one either but i cannot keep it together when i watch it.
