Slice of Life (3) Masterlist
part one, part two
a six to a nine (ao3) - danhoweiis
Summary: phil has some doubts about his new haircut but dan helps to reassure him in his own way
all night revival (ao3) - Fictropes
Summary: now there’s half a bottle of gin missing from the shelf.
and my heart's already sinned. (ao3) - gesticulationbubble
Summary: Phil had put the idea in Dan's head. A baking video like never before. He should've known he'd regret it, based on how quickly Dan agreed to it, and the smirk that immediately appeared on his face. But it was too late to back out. Especially now that he was standing in the kitchen, feeling embarrassingly stupid just thinking of Dan all dressed up for him.
This was a bad idea. This was DEFINITELY a bad idea.
(Or, Phil asks Dan to dress as Sister Daniel for their return to Halloween Baking. Chaos ensues. Also Dan has feelings (tm) about his uncloseted freedom and Phil loves him for it.)
Chips (ao3) - philsmeatylegss
Summary: Dan struggling with the concept that all healthy couples should fight.
dan buys a skirt (ao3) - baroquen
Summary: Dan is thinking about buying a skirt. Phil thinks this is a very good idea.
Dan and Phil vs the Pantomime (ao3) - cafephan
Summary: Phil surprises Dan with tickets to a Christmas pantomime.
Gentle (ao3) - Lesbianphan
Summary: Phil doesn't really look at photos of their faces that much. Truthfully, there's only so many gifs and videos of people pointing out how utterly hopelessly in love you and your partner look at each other that you can actually absorb into your brain. Phil's brain feels like mush sometimes, with the amount of feeling right there, displayed for the world to see. This livestream was special though - in so many ways, - and he found himself transfixed by the animated images of Dan's gentle touching of his face, feeling some kind of cosmic shift happening on screen, the realization on the tip of his tongue. Just a fluffy thinkpiece on their current content, and all the little moments they decided to share with their audience these past few months.
happy twink death (ao3) - possumdnp
Summary: Phil celebrates his 37th birthday.
I'd like to hang out with you (for my whole life) (ao3) - bunnyslipper
Summary: Mornings in the forever home (featuring the golden pig)
In Case I Never Said (ao3) - ahappyphil
Summary: “I think you’re my soulmate too by the way”
it's amazing that you care (ao3) - danhoweiis
Summary: phil is having one of his dizzy spells whilst dan is on tour in america
late night talking (ao3) - theloveofbees
Summary: it surely wasn’t the weirdest thing phil had caught dan doing in their thirteen years of knowing each other, but it was up there.
or it's the summer before dan's tour and they talk on the floor of their office.
mischief in our eyes (ao3) - dizzy
Summary: Random scenes throughout the filming of the 2023 Halloween baking video.
Naughty! Do Not Eat (ao3) - talentisntgenius
Summary: Why Dan Had To Call an Ambulance but it's parent!DnP
pancakes + syrup (ao3) - indistinct_echo
Summary: “Are my nostrils deceiving me?” Phil asks, still out of Dan’s line of sight.
Dan blinks, looks down at the pancakes, now almost ready to be flipped, and then back at the Phil-less space. “No?”
pyjama week (ao3) - possumdnp
Summary: Dan and Phil enjoy a relaxing day during their annual Pyjama Week.
The Re-Birth of Gamingmas (ao3) - Ippyhaj
Summary: Dan and Phil go out for coffee and Phil convinces Dan to re-open the Gaming Channel.
They fade to nothing when I look at him (ao3) - phasamtasie
Summary: Arriving in the kitchen Phil made himself his one cup of coffee he allowed himself on weekend days and stared out the window lost in thought, so it took him a few seconds to register why the light had seemed so much brighter than usual at 8am. With childish delight he saw that it had snowed overnight, and not just the usual UK dusting where one could still see the grass underneath but a proper snow, coating everything outside in a bright white.
OR
Dan and Phil go sledging.
to be known so deeply (ao3) - kissthemisfits
Summary: Seasons change, summer ends.
too soft for all of it (ao3) - theloveofbees
Summary: phil loves dan, and he loves dan's hair.
loosely based on phil's tweet on 26 march 2023.
We balance each other out on the seesaw of life (ao3) - natigail
Summary: Phil had dragged Dan to Isle of Man after his return home from tour. The sea air would do him good (even if it gave him hobbit hair) and he could be surrounded by Phil's family (who were his family too). He hadn’t actively planned to drag him onto a seesaw on a playground but it turned out to be a precious moment all the same.
we never change (ao3) - nivi_chip
Summary: different decade same laundry problems
Welcome home! (never leave that long again) (ao3) - natigail
Summary: Dan comes home from tour and stumbles right into Phil’s arms. He is more touch starved than he’d realised.
What are the odds? (ao3) - spacedaisjes
Summary: What are the odds that youtuber-duo Dan and Phil choose the same restaurant as you, at a table close to yours, on the exact day you decide to go out for dinner instead of bringing takeaway to your hotel room like you had done the previous nights. I'm guessing the odds are slim, but they surely aren't zero, regardless of how much I suck at maths.
However, what I do know is this; Odds are that Autumn indeed did book a flight to London in early March. They could've gone to Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, somewhere she had not been before, but fact is that they chose London. And they are grateful that they did.
when... (ao3) - dizzy
Summary: A fic about hypothetical future dogs.

Note
we always want your predictions!!!!
ok here we go! pls note that these r mostly based on vibes, various stats i decided to focus on, n the occasional wishful thinking, and depending on how things go on the day itself + game order, selection, etc, this prediction order could totally change!
10. red ravens
pls do NOT kill me. i know tommy n phil r amazing. i also know that wisp isn’t too bad. but also there’s something so haunting that 3/4 players in this team placed 36th, 37th, and 38th last event. w tommy getting 18th iirc, but he wasn’t the strongest member of his team last event. also tommy has just been so unlucky this season. idt its a guaranteed last place but i think they have potential n almost everyone else is predicting violet as 10th which i disagree with
9. lime liches
the only reason i’m placing them 9th is because of illumina. i don’t know how good geenelly is at minecraft or how much she’ll improve before the event but as a new player who in my mind doesn’t seem to be very cracked plus ryguyrocky who’s not played a single s2 mcc + hasn’t played in almost a year + usually places 20th on average + puffy whos roughly on a 30th placement type beat… sorry :(
8. green goblins
hbomb n grian r both very good but imo mmm you know how certain players have certain strengths that if they are w a player w Different strengths the combos really good?? hbomb n grian have similar strengths and that could turn out great or work against them bc there isn’t anyone there to make up for their shared weaknesses. geminitay did great for her first event but i don’t see her or niki (who tries her best but things just don’t usually work out :( im sorry) hard carrying to dodgebolt or out of the bottom five
7. violet vampires
this team has two players of interest to me. smallishbeans and seapeekay, two players who have proved that they can reach top 10 when teamed w S tiers. now they are teamed with each other. and also theorionsound and solidarity, the former who gets bottom 10 usually n the latter who is wildly inconsistent where placement is concerned. we’ll see how they end up doing ig!
6. cyan centipedes
ranboo and wilbur were a duo who played very well together last event, getting 9th and 12th place respectively. will they be able to replicate that? we’ll see, but i don’t know how far they’ll get w the captain’s curse (sorry king 😔) looming over their heads and this event only being sneegsnag’s second, wherein he was 34th last mcc
5. blue banshees
i was about to say it could genuinely be any team’s game from this placement onwards and i mean it still could bc pete is pete but 5up has been placing lower than i imagined (26-31st), dantdm hasn’t played in a hot second and is also about mid 20s in placement, plus pearlescentmoon is usually placing bottom 10, so i don’t know how things’ll work out
4. aqua abominations
okay so hear me out: yes punz and ant r a cracked duo. but this team reminds me of mcc16 aqua, which was fundy, ant, 5up, tubbo. ant is ant, punz is a little better than fundy depending on what events ur looking at, and shubble is somewhat like 5up, except she’s played more events that have way more inconsistencies in placement. but they are somewhat equivalent. gumi is new, and she only has one event under her belt. she was 35th i think, which is great, but tubbo is usually placing 10-20th on average. and aqua came 4th in mcc16 iirc so this team could pop off n get higher or end up placing around the same as this
3. mustard mummies
ok so… i thought long and hard about this. this team and all the teams i placed top 3 kept bouncing around and changing places. so take this w a pinch of salt. i could change my mind again literally at any moment. my process is i look at individual stats, i think about the dynamics, i look at past events and what happened and patterns etc etc. and this is what i think. for now. once again! could be anyone’s game. so sylvee in this team is so interesting. bc her last event she was teamed with sapnap and she got 17th, her best placement ever. but also that was partially due to her insane survival games damage pot play from the fountain, and while that was very cool, SG points are mad nerfed now. prior to that her average placement is like 30th thereabouts. could she replicate that placement n do even better? maybe. odds are though i see her placing like about 25th. tubbo n scott r interesting. i think they could each pull anywhere from 10-20th and w sapnap as a teammate they could get about 15th. very much either here or there. the thing is though scott’s very good at build mart n that usually pulls his score up if it gets played but this isn’t a very good build mart team. this is a very different team from those that scott has been in these past few events and it could affect his placement bc of it. he’s still a very good support player though. but like hey. you never know if sapnap might die 3 times in a row in SoT again (do NOT kill me but also like that’s my point he can be a little reckless when it’s a bad idea to be reckless and since this was last event n one of his teammates from that event is still with him… yeah) like final thoughts if we’re directly comparing to mcc17 rr is that depending on the game george beats out scott in some areas n scott beats george out in some areas so ultimately george = scott somewhat as a teammate, sylvee is slightly better than gumi, and tubbo n sapnap r tubbo n sapnap
2. fuchsia frankensteins
OKAY HEAR ME OUT. i know this is unpopular n feels very biased n subjective but please listen. here’s the thing: there are very few s tiers in this event. quig is not in mcc for the first time in ever, fruit is not in this one for some reason, leaving only dream, sapnap, and pete. here’s the thing about mcc17 dream: he would’ve been 2-3rd place individually if not for the SoT disaster (which was not his fault n had nothing to do w his skill n how he played it was just. sigh) AND he literally didn’t even get to play PARKOUR TAG. a free guaranteed first place for him. OR BATTLE BOX. which he could pop off so hard in on a normal day. remember the tnt play he was bridging up to do in sky battle? the man w insane bow aim who shot him out the sky is now his right hand man. ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN. people say ‘dream is dream’ for good reason. this is HALLOWEEN. he is the defending first place halloween champ for a reason. he has the sky battle most kills record. HE COULD DO IT AGAIN. maybe break his own record. maybe he’s feeling silly. guess what. fruit isn’t in this mcc. who’s the fastest speedbridger now? dream. exactly. he’s gonna bridge at 7.75 blocks per second n get that fuckin first place bonus fuck u fuck all of u. he’s gonna get a fantastic ace race placement too n this time they will not skip battle box n he will USE those leaf blocks. now george. he’s been crazy. he was the best mechanical player on his team in mcc16 n he got fucked by the big SoT disaster of mcc17 n he still came 13th both times. this is a testament to how consistent he has been in s2 post mcc14. that was a cultural reset ok. it changed qnfwt forever n for the better. look at quackity in mcc15 that was literally his one chance to show how he could change n now he will do it again just even better. think about dream’s leadership, coaching, n training skills n how that boosted all his teammates. he literally managed a back to back win he is the ONLY s2 b2b winner. he literally got KARL to become a top 25 player imagine what he could do with AWESAMDUDE who already plays way more minecraft than karl to begin with. he’s a HUNTER in manhunt for god’s sake. YOU DON’T KNOW. this is the one instance where sam being a new player could pay off rather than backfire. WE REALLY DON’T KNOW. im putting them 2nd because I BELIEVE,, but also could be anyone’s game. but i believe in magic n miracles n the spirit of halloween
1. orange oozes
again, i went back and forth like crazy. people are a Little more scared of this team than they should be. but also they could possibly be very right to be scared. gizzygazza is meant to be the nerf here, they’re like bottom 10 usually, mefs is the next most inconsistent one, his point average is real high bc he went crazy in mcc6 when he was teamed w dream. otherwise i’d say he has 15th place potential, maybe even somewhere around 10th if tapl n krtzyy pull him up enough. tapl n krtzyy are tapl and krtzyy. they have similar levels of Go Crazy potential, could really end up bringing it out of each other if it all goes well!
#ask#long post#mcyt#mcc#i didn’t proofread this just gonna hit send#feel free to lmk what u think uwu

“Humans are [add text here]”
Chapter 3: A Wild Crow Father has Appeared
Phil wasn’t expecting to be returning to Planet A112 so soon but Wilbur had sent a distress signal and that was the Dream Team Craft’s next stop.
The planet itself stood as a port market place. There were many of these planets around the galaxy, but it was probably the more popular ones for criminal ships and such. Poachers and Scientists alike came here to get supplies to take the biggest beasts in the galaxy, Humans.
Phil never understood the appeal, but both of his sons had gained that sort of adventurous aspect that he had lost so many celestial years ago. He assumed the only reason people ever chased the creatures was to fill their pride.
That was the exact reason Techno had joined the poacher ship three years ago. He only returned when it had crashed three months ago. To this day he has yet to reveal what horrors had gone on the ship.
Wilbur had another reason to go after the infamous creatures. His crave for knowledge was eating him up as was for most scientists. He joined the Dream Team Craft only six months ago and was already heading back to the SBI Craft.
Techno was pacing around the marketplace studying different weapons and supplies. Phil had been standing off to the side, leaning on one of the building walls. Every once and a while he would check his communicator to see where Wilbur was. Thankfully he had turned on his location so Phil could easily watch as he made his way through the maze-like market.
“Is he getting close?” Techno asked running low on patience.
“He’ll be here in two minutes or so.” Phil bit his lip, “You can head back to the ship, I don’t mind waiting for him.”
“I am not leaving you. Prime knows what Wilbur brought back this time.” Techno replied. Wilbur always had a knack for bringing back things he found interesting. This wasn’t the first time he had left the SBI Craft. This would be the 37th since he turned 14. Now he was 24 and the Craft had been designed to handle whatever he brought back. There was a holding room fit for literally any species, a mechanics room full of technology he gained an interest in. A garden and a gardener which was also retrieved by Wilbur. And of course Wilbur’s pride and joy, the laboratory.
“If you want mate..” Phil said, shaking his head.
Not even two minutes later he saw Wilbur coming from the middle of the crowd. He was carrying what looked like a hurt child.
“Well this should be interesting.” Techno mumbled as he spotted Wilbur.
Once the phantom saw them he strode over and they made their way over to him.
What do you have this time mate?” Phil asked, curiosity filling him to the brim with questions.
“Someone I can’t explain till we get to the ship.” Wilbur states with a tone he had never heard from his son.
After a second of standing awkwardly they had come to a silent agreement to head to the ship.
It took less than five minutes. Wilbur was half sprinting to the lab before Techno’s assistant had even registered that Wilbur was back. Phil gave a quick greeting to the gardener and assistant before following Wilbur to the medical part of the lab. He almost fainted when he saw what was laying on the medical bed.
“I know it looks bad, but I couldn’t help myself.” Wilbur said apologetically, “I know you’re gonna want answers but I really don’t have a lot of time before serious damage is done to him. I’ll explain after I fix him up.” He glanced up with a face full of sincerity.
Phil sighed pushing aside any fatigue and collecting his thoughts. “How can I help?” He states without an ounce of shown-fear in his voice.
Wilbur took a moment before answering. Prime the silence was loud. “Keep everyone out of the lab, and set up another room.. that would be great.” Wilbur said. The worry in his voice was apparent, but Phil said nothing of it. Instead he started on the tasks that came with being the captain of the craft.
——————
He woke up to LED lights blinding him. Tommy blinked a bit before sitting up.
He was sitting on what appeared to be a hospital bed. An IV was attached to his wrist and there were strange alien restraints attached to his legs but not to his wrists. That would be a mistake if he knew how to take the sticky black cuffs off. Which he didn’t. Plus he was too weak to attempt.
He swung his legs over the edge of the bed and looked around. The bed was pushed into the back corner directly across from a window. There was no glass or plastic covering the window, only a shiny force-field looking thing. The window also was the length of the wall. To the right of the window was a little slot and shelf, clearly used to deliver food. To the left of the window was a place for a door. The only thing was there was no visible door, just more of the light blue painted wall. To the left of the space was a bunch of shelves with a bunch of weird toys, games, books, and puzzles. Across from that was a card table and two comfortable chairs. At the end of the bed was a bench looking thing in which the lid lifted up.
All in all the room was clearly used to keep people occupied while keeping a close eye on them. The inhabitants of the ship had prepared it so it could withstand most things. The furniture in the room had been nailed to the floor. The chairs could move either closer or farther from the table with whoever was sitting down using a strange contraption. None of the toys on the lower shelf could be eaten and all games and puzzles were on higher shelves. The books were also all hard covered. There were even plastic bookmarks in a small container next to the shelves. The window was clearly impossible to get through and looked like it would absorb whatever you threw at it. The food shelf had three mechanisms that wouldn’t be easy to get through. There were no vents or places to hide. It was very apparent they had done this sort of thing before.
The last thing Tommy looked for was a light switch. By some sort of luck he spotted it. It was a weird sort of dial thing that was right by the IV stand. It was currently at 100 and he then dialed it down to 35. It was dim enough to sleep but bright enough to see everything clearly. Not even five minutes later he fell into a deep sleep.
——————
“YOU BROUGHT A HUMAN?!” Tubbo yelled, fluttering his wings furiously, making him hover ever so slightly.
Ranboo swiftly put his hand on Tubbo’s shoulder pushing him back onto the ground. The enderian shifted anxiously making Techno ponder if he was also gripping Tubbo to keep himself grounded. Phil stood near Will expectantly. Wilbur shifted from foot to foot and rubbed his arm, yet kept his head up to look at everyone. Techno was leaning against his security desk, side eyeing the now asleep human.
“I knew you were stupid, I just didn’t know you were this stupid.” Techno stated without a hint of remorse. Wilbur scoffed before attempting to collect himself.
“I couldn’t just leave him there! It was a mission built for researching humans. Meaning they would be doing nasty experiments for prime knows how long!” Wilbur snapped, with a seriousness Techno hadn’t seen since Wilbur brought back the other children on the ship, “He is a kid. Not an adult that had nowhere to go and was doing prime awful things. He is a kid with no family, no home, and barely making it through the day. I read through his file and he has gone through awful shit. I wasn’t gonna let him die in misery too. If you don’t want him on the ship, then I will get myself my own ship.” Wilbur threatened with a tone not to be questioned. Techno took a moment to think through Will’s response before coming up with an answer.
“He can stay. As long as you keep him in line and take care of his rations. He is not to leave his room until we make sure he can do no damage. If anyone wants to visit him, you are either outside the window or I am present. No excuses.” Techno finished satisfied with his answer. Phil may have been the legal captain of the ship, but when it came to rules Techno was always the one to make them.
Phil nodded in agreement. The two children nodded aggressively, both of which clearly had no intention of going near the human’s holding cell. After a minute Wilbur nodded.
“Fine. If those are the rules I will comply.” Wilbur said, “I need to adjust some things, I will assume Techno will be coming with me?” He asked reluctantly.
“Yes.” Techno bluntly said.
“So be it.” Wilbur snapped. Techno just brushed it off as they headed towards the lab cells.
——————
Tommy was running through the forest on the edge of town.
It was his favorite trail and the only one his parents let him go on alone. Which cost a long series of promises and supplies he had to go with.
Usually he would be running on the trail for fun but this time it was a sprint home. He didn’t know what was wrong but he knew something was wrong. Especially when he saw the blue and red lights light up the evening sky.
“I didn’t do anything you bastards!!” His dad yelled over the sirens. They had him in cuffs repeating the Miranda rights to him as they pushed him into the back seat.
“What’s going on?” All Tommy could manage his throat was tight and he was struggling to hold back angry tears. He caught one of the officers' attention. She smiled softly.
“He got caught doing something bad to his wife.” She said sadly.
“What did he do?!” Tommy cried even louder this time tears slipped down his face. At this point the officer got more serious.
“I am not obligated to say.” She bit her lip before continuing, “Why don’t you go back to your parents?” She replied softly. This was the first time Tommy got angry, not annoyed or that childish angry. The kind of anger that makes you wanna burn the world down. It was a quick flash but enough to make him snap.
“You took my dad…. What did he do to my mom?” Tommy answered coldly. His answer clearly shook the officer.
“Aw kid, I- .. I am sorry.. he killed her.” Tommy already knew the answer. He shouldn’t have been surprised, but he was. He heard someone scream from far away. Maybe it was him, maybe someone else. They pushed him through a series of questions all of which he could barely answer. His mind was somewhere else. He couldn’t calm down. Everything was too much.
He woke up in a cold sweat. Tears were running down his face. His breath was rapid and uneven. He hadn’t had a dream like that for a couple of months, granted he barely slept. After a few shaky breaths he calmed himself enough to grasp where he was. He wiped the tears just in time for the spot where the door was to open.
In stepped Wilbur along with a really tall alien. The tall alien stood in front of the door as Wilbur rushed to Tommy’s bed. Tommy lost control of his breathing, barely calming down.
Wilbur grabbed his hands to which Tommy snapped his head towards the alien. “I want you to breathe with me okay?” Wilbur said softly. He moved Tommy’s hand to his chest and started taking deep breaths. After a minute Tommy managed to even his breath to Wilbur’s pattern. “Good, good. I am gonna take off your IV since you don’t need it anymore. After that I can get you some food and water, then we can talk alright?” Wilbur said, keeping his tone soft and slow. Tommy rubbed his eyes and nodded.
Wilbur took his arm, there was a small pinch then the IV was off. Wilbur quickly left and came back after about two minutes. Within those two minutes Tommy got a better look at the other alien.
The alien had light pink ruff skin with neat pink hair tightly braided. They were wearing a puffy cream shirt that was tucked into dark brown pants, which were tucked into black boots that went up to their knees. Their knees bent backwards and the boots were shaped weirdly, like they were built for hooves. They had hooves where their hands would be, that somehow had thumbs. They also had tusks poking out of their mouth. Along with blood red eyes that had white pupils. Their ears poked out of their hair and were both torn and pierced with gold earrings. They also had a gold chain necklace with a stone that resembled an Emerald. They also wore a black belt with a gold clip. Attached to the belt was an alien sword leaning against their right hip, on the other side was what resembled a gun.
Tommy swallowed down food that was threatening to come up. He waited patiently for Wilbur to come back, trying his hardest not to stare at the other alien.
“My name is Techno. He/him. Same with Wilbur and most of the crew. The only one who has other pronouns is Ranboo who goes by he/they.” Techno, stated bluntly. Tommy collected himself before responding.
“I am Tommy Innit, er- he/him.” Tommy finished with a shaky voice.
Luckily the awkward tension didn’t last long as Wilbur practically sprinted through the door, shoving Techno out of the way. He pulled a tray that was neatly folded out of the wall and put a glass of water and some food on a plate.
“Some parskey with hatatoes. It tastes good I promise.” Wilbur explained. He then went to grab something he left outside and sat at the card table. He put two plates down and Techno joined him. The door closed after that. There was no button or anything, it just closed. Tommy was a little baffled by it but looked towards the food put in front of him.
It was a white meat, similar to chicken, with a brown version of mashed potatoes. He looked over to the other two who were talking in a different language while eating the same food. With that Tommy decided it was okay to eat. Just like what it reminded him of, it tasted like chicken and mash potatoes with small differences. Like the meat was dryer and more salty and the potatoes were a little sour. Either way it was still good. He then drank the water. There was no odd taste this time so he assumed it wasn’t drugged.
Once he finished he attempted to listen in but was only met with a series of strange sounds. He gave up and pushed the tray away. Almost too quickly he fell into a deep sleep. He didn’t even notice when the visitors took their stuff and left.
——————
Ranboo poked at his food glancing up every once and awhile. The two crew members had returned from the human’s room and decided to finish their food with the rest of the crew. Everyone sat in a tense silence.
“So,” Phil clapped his feathered hands and turned towards Wilbur. “What do we know about the kid?” He asked.
“His name is Tommy Innit, pronouns he/him. He is 14 and was living on the run for six months. No family according to him and he’s allergic to nuts.” Wilbur answered.
“From what I can tell he isn’t super dangerous, just fearful. He already trusts Wilbur, somehow. Though I think it is due to Wilbur saving his life. It will be harder for the rest of us to gain his trust.” Techno added. Ranboo swiftly wrote the responses down, making sure to keep major notes.
The rest of dinner was uneventful and everyone awkwardly washed dishes and went to bed. Assumingly to sleep. Everyone except Ranboo that is. He couldn’t wash dishes due to his biology and he didn’t really sleep. Every time he tried the void would wake him up or he would go into a half-conscious state that the crew deemed as enderwalking.
So for what felt like the hundredth time they stayed awake laying in bed. This time however their mind was racing with thoughts. Traveling through situations that used to seem impossible before the human boarded the ship. Still curiosity was eating their insides.
With a half made up mind Ranboo shot up in bed. They stalked over to where the human was being held and peered into the window.
Almost instantly the human sat up. After yawning and getting into a position he was comfortable in he just stared at Ranboo making them incredibly uncomfortable.
“Who are you?” The human asked, Ranboo couldn’t remember his name.
“Oh! Uh, I am Ranboo.. I am kinda like an assistant, I-I guess.” Ranboo said, fidgeting with his fingers.
“Ah cool. I am the biggest man! Tommy Innit. You should be grateful to be in my presence.” The human practically flowed with confidence making Ranboo question if all humans were like this. He shook off the questions and turned back to the human who was now playing with the light monitor.
“So… what was your planet like?” Tommy asked, startling Ranboo a bit. “I-I mean you don’t have to answer of course.. just wondering..” the human stuttered. They took a moment to go through their thoughts, narrowing down what they could.
“I guess it was peaceful.. in a way.. no one really fell out of line. It was unified, creating a peaceful haven. It wasn’t like people couldn’t fall out of line it’s just they didn’t want to. M-most of them were content with the way they were… but if there was something wrong they would absolutely take any measure to destroy it.” Ranboo finished bitterly, trying to shake off his old hurt of how they treated him. “W-what about your planet?” Ranboo asked.
“Ah.. Earth is interesting to say the least… We don’t all follow the same rules. Monday After Harding Park PGA
By ED TRAVIS
A few random thoughts about the PGA Championship.
The weather for the 102nd PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park, which is sandwiched between San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean, was distinctly un-August like with the high for the week only 68 degrees.
Puffer jackets and hoodies were more in evidence than short shorts and sandals. The cool, wet playing conditions with, at times, significant wind gave everyone problems.
The pretournament story lines included Brooks Koepka trying for third consecutive PGA Championship and Dustin Johnson looking to cement a spot in the World Golf Hall of Fame. Collin Morikawa spoiled both hopes with a final round 64 in this, the first and only major of the 2019-2020 season.
Morikawa beat golf’s best with a simple if not old-fashioned formula. Not the longest by any means off the tee (T40) he was first in driving accuracy, hit more than 70% of the greens (51 of 72 for T7) and was an astounding 8.076 strokes gained putting better than the field.
So much for bomb and gouge.
Tiger Woods playing to win major number 16 proved teeing it up only once per month does not work and finished in a tie for 37th. His previous outing had been the Memorial in July; however, he will be playing in two weeks at The Northern Trust. Woods’ driving and iron play was adequate (mediocre?) but a 49th in strokes gained putting was anything but stellar. Winners may get away with average play in one aspect of those three but never in all of them.
Without fans on the course television ratings were spectacular even considering early round action required purchasing a subscription to ESPN+.
Speaking of the coverage, the combination of anchor Jim Nance and Nick Faldo was measurably strengthened on Saturday by Phil Mickelson visiting the broadcast booth. Some are calling it Lefty’s audition as a color commentator but do not look for him on a regular basis. He enjoys playing too much and is often competitive. Besides since he is the golden age of 50 the PGA Tour Champions is always an option.
The abbreviated 2019-2020 season has four more events ending with the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club ending on Labor Day. The 2020 U.S. Open (Sept. 17-20) and 2020 Masters (Nov 12-15) will be part of the 2020-2021 schedule giving the new season six majors.

Post-AGT Appearance 1088: American top 40 with Ryan Seacrest June 28
My agent would insist I say nothing publicly about the protests, riots or other political matters. I’d be doing safe old timeless routines in discreet private and outdoor settings, biting my tongue. The songs would keep sinking slowly, with Forever’s getting closer every Day hitting 27 June 28. 66 country. The duet version would finish 89th country. Impossible, improbable, unlikely but True would sink to 37th and Seacrest would find one more relevant recorded quote.
Seacrest: As you know Post-Malone’s Circles broke the record recently for most weeks in the top 10. Where will it show up in this week’s countdown? we’ll find out later in the show. But that’s not the only song that’s been on our list a long time, coming up is a song that first qualified for the countdown on the weekend of October 5 last year. I can not tell a lie. Before the song was released co-writer Phil Cole recorded comments I might use as it climbed and fell on the chart, and one of them predicted a long shelf life.
PBC: This song is buoyant!
Seacrest: And here it is one more time, number 37 in this week’s countdown:Impossible, improbable, unlikely but True.

How Many Republicans Won In Tuesday's Election
Arizonas Attorney General Dismisses Claims Of Voter Fraud And Says Trump Is Very Highly Unlikely To Overturn Bidens Lead In The State

The Republican attorney general for Arizona has defended the election process in the state against criticism from the president, saying that people voted for “Republicans down-ballot, but they didn’t vote for President Trump”.
Mark Brnovich dismissed claims of voter fraud from Donald Trump and his campaign team, adding that there was “no evidence” to back such an assertion in Arizona.
Appearing on Fox News, Mr Brnovich also said it was time to accept that president-elect Joe Biden has won the election, saying “there are no facts that would lead anyone to believe that the election results would change”.
In Arizona, Trump campaign attorneys have alleged that Maricopa County incorrectly rejected votes cast by in-person voters on election day, and they have called for the sealing of evidence which, they say, supports this claim.
But a judge in the state on Tuesday agreed with elections officials who urged the court not to do so because the public “has a right to know how flimsy the plaintiffs’ evidence actually is,” the Arizona Republic had reported.
When Fox host Neil Cavuto sought a response from Mr Brnovich over the recent dispute, the attorney general said that the number of ballots which are being contested is less than 200, so even if these votes are flipped, the chances of Mr Trump making a comeback were “highly unlikely.”
New 2020 Voter Data: How Biden Won How Trump Kept The Race Close And What It Tells Us About The Future
As we saw in 2016 and again in 2020, traditional survey research is finding it harder than it once was to assess presidential elections accurately. Pre-election polls systemically misjudge who is likely to vote, and exit polls conducted as voters leave the voting booths get it wrong as well.
Now, using a massive sample of “validated” voters whose participation has been independently verified, the Pew Research Center has . It helps us understand how Joe Biden was able to accomplish what Hillary Clinton did not—and why President Trump came closer to getting reelected than the pre-election surveys had predicted.
How Joe Biden won
Five main factors account for Biden’s success.
The Biden campaign reunited the Democratic Party. Compared to 2016, he raised the share of moderate and conservative Democrats who voted for the Democratic nominee by 6 points, from 85 to 91%, while increasing the Democratic share of liberal Democrats from 94 to 98%. And he received the support of 85% of Democrats who had defected to 3rd party and independent candidates in 2016.
How Trump kept it close
Despite non-stop controversy about his policies and personal conduct, President Trump managed to raise his share of the popular vote from 46% in 2016 to 47% in 2020. His core coalition held together, and he made a few new friends.

Nj Primary 2021: Ciattarelli Tops In Gop Governor Contest With Some Tense Democratic Legislative Races
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy will face former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, the most moderate of the four Republican candidates who ran in Tuesday’s primary, in November’s general election.
The party line was the big winner in legislative races, with all the incumbents or well-known candidates who were backed by the Democratic or Republican parties beating equally well-known candidates who were not endorsed. This includes Democratic Assemblyman Gordon Johnson, who will likely be the next state senator in the 37th District in Bergen County.
Partisan voters chose their candidates for governor, state Senate and Assembly and county and local offices, voting Tuesday in large numbers in person for the first time in 18 months.
Polls closed at 8 p.m. across New Jersey, with some places reporting a robust turnout, although primaries tend to draw fewer voters. Four years ago, just a quarter of the state’s registered Democrats and Republicans voted in a hotly contested primary. A Rutgers-Eagleton Poll conducted in late May and released Tuesday said just 22% of registered voters knew Tuesday was Election Day, though once told when the primary was, more than half said they planned to definitely vote.
This year, Murphy breezed to the November ballot without primary opposition as two Democrats who had filed both were disqualified for not meeting the signature requirements.

Justices Prepare For Major Lgbt Rights Case As Trump Threatens To Bring Election To Supreme Court
Justice Amy Coney Barrett is due to confront her first major arguments at the Supreme Court on Wednesday morning, even as President Donald Trump is threatening to bring a case over the previous night’s election to the panel.
Trump said in an early morning address to supporters that “we’ll be going to the U.S. Supreme Court, we want all voting to stop.” The president did not provide more details, and the nature of such a possible case was unclear. The top court generally hears appeals of lower court decisions.
Trump had for weeks suggested he would contest any outcome that was not a victory and pressed to get Barrett, his third Supreme Court nominee, confirmed before Election Day. NBC News has not called the race, and votes continue to be tabulated.
Despite the prospect of a contested election, the court has a normal — if important — day of business scheduled. At 10 a.m. ET, the justices will hear arguments in Fulton v. City of Philadelphia, a major LGBT rights case.
The dispute concerns a Roman Catholic adoption agency that is arguing that Philadelphia’s decision to exclude it from the city’s foster care system because it will not work with same-sex households is unconstitutional. Philadelphia has said it is simply enforcing its laws against discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation.

Election 2020 Results: Michigan And Wisconsin Called For Biden As Trump Begins Legal Battles
The coverage on this live blog has concluded. For up-to-the-minute coverage on the election, visit the live blog from CNBC’s U.S. team. Read our previous coverage here.
It is the day after Election Day, and the race between President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden is still up in the air. Several states remain uncalled. Trump, however, was able to successfully defend big states such as Florida, Texas and Ohio, according to NBC News projections. Biden, meanwhile, was projected to be the apparent winner in Wisconsin and Michigan. Trump tried to claim victory, but millions of votes were still outstanding, and NBC had not called the race yet. Democrats were projected to hold onto control of the House, while the balance of power in the Senate remains in question. Republicans won key Senate races in Iowa and Montana, according to NBC.
‘we Are Not Enemies’ Biden Says He Expects To Win Calls For Healing After Brutal Election
Democratic nominee Joe Biden said he expects to defeat President Donald Trump when all the votes are counted and delivered a call for healing and unity in the wake of the brutal election.
“We are not enemies,” Biden said in a speech delivered from Wilmington, Delaware, on Wednesday afternoon.
“We’ve faced hard times before. So once this election is finalized and behind us, it will be time for us to do what we’ve always done as Americans: to put the harsh rhetoric of the campaign behind us, to lower the temperature, to see each other again, to listen to one another, to hear each other again,” Biden said.
“To unite, to heal, to come together as a nation. I know this won’t be easy. I’m not naive, neither of us are,” Biden said. “But I know this as well: To make progress, we have to stop treating our opponents as enemies. We are not enemies.”
“We are campaigning as Democrats, but I will govern as an American president,” he said.
Opinion:tuesdays Elections Were Good News For Progressives And Establishment Republicans
An earlier version of this op-ed incorrectly stated that the Club for Growth supported Michigan state representative Lynn Afendoulis in the Republican primary for Michigan’s Third Congressional District. This version has been updated.
Tuesday’s five-state primary elections told us a lot about the state of the American electorate. The results hold good news for progressives and establishment Republicans alike.
Democrat Cori Bush’s defeat of 20-year incumbent Rep. William Lacy Clay was only the tip of the progressive iceberg. That’s not to make light of her victory. The Clay family had represented seats anchored in the city of St. Louis since 1969. Her win shows that even long-entrenched Democrats can fall prey to a challenger from their left. That’s a pretty important message even standing alone.
arrow-right
But it did not stand alone. Progressive “Squad” member Rep. Rashida Tlaib easily turned back a primary challenge from Detroit City Council President Brenda Jones, whom Tlaib defeated by only 900 votes in 2018. Progressive Jen Richardson nearly defeated the party’s preferred candidate, state Rep. Jon Hoadley, in Michigan’s 6th Congressional District despite being outspent nearly 15 to 1. And another underfunded progressive, Eva Putzova, punched above her weight against moderate Rep. Tom O’Halleran , who won with only 59 percent of the vote in Arizona’s 1st Congressional District. The message to incumbents is clear: Move left, or risk moving out.

Ossoff Defeats Perdue In Georgia Handing Control Of Senate To Democrats Nbc News Projects
Sahil KapurLauren EganAlex Seitz-Wald
ATLANTA — Democrats have swept both seats in Georgia’s critical runoff elections, NBC News projects, giving the party control of the Senate and removing a major roadblock for President-elect Joe Biden.
Democrat Jon Ossoff defeated Republican David Perdue in Tuesday’s election, NBC News projected Wednesday afternoon, while the network earlier called Georgia’s other race for Democrat Raphael Warnock over GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler.
Biden will now enter the White House on Jan. 20 with his party in control of both chambers of Congress, allowing him to confirm his Cabinet and judicial nominees and giving him and a chance to advance his legislative agenda, which would have gone nowhere as long as Republican Senate Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., remained in charge.
The results are a rebuke of President Donald Trump, whose supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol Wednesday to try to stop Congress from counting the Electoral College results. Trump’s ongoing attempts to overturn the election results overshadowed the runoffs and some Republicans worried his attacks on the integrity of the election depressed GOP turnout in Georgia.
North Carolina’s Vote Count Will Be Largely Unchanged For Next 8 Days Election Board Says
North Carolina, a crucial state for President Donald Trump’s path to victory, won’t update its total vote count until Nov. 12 “with very few exceptions,” the North Carolina State Board of Elections said, NBC News reported.
Officials said in a public meeting that the count will largely stay the same for the next eight days because most county election boards will not start checking absentee and provisional ballots until they hold previously scheduled meetings.
The county officials cannot legally move those meetings sooner even if they wanted to, NBC reported.

Special Election: What To Know About Tuesdays 11th Ohio Congressional District Primary
Two of Ohio’s 16 congressional districts are currently vacated, which means voters in those districts will decide on who will fill those seats for the next year.
While the general election for the two races is in November, the field of 13 Democrats and two Republicans will be whittled on Tuesday. The top Democrat and Republican in Tuesday’s special election will vie for the open congressional seat in the November general election.
Trump Campaign Seeks To Get Involved In Supreme Court Fight Over Pennsylvania Ballots
President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign asked the Supreme Court to let it join the fight at the court over Pennsylvania’s absentee ballot deadlines.
Jay Sekulow, an attorney for the president, wrote in a filing submitted to the justices that Trump has a “direct, concrete stake in the outcome” of the case that was distinct from the interests of the state lawmakers and Republican Party of Pennsylvania that initiated the suit.
In the case, Republicans are suing over the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s extension of the deadline for elections officials to receive absentee ballots in order for them to be counted. The state court extended the deadline to Nov. 6 from the previous deadline of Tuesday.
The Supreme Court rejected the Republican challenge in a 4-4 split on Oct. 19. On Oct. 28, the justices refused to decide a second GOP challenge before Election Day but left open the possibility of a ruling favoring Republicans after Nov. 3.
Justice Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed onto the bench too late to weigh in on either decision but her presence on the court is thought to favor the Republican challenge moving forward.
The case at the Supreme Court is just one of the many legal battles that the Trump campaign is pursuing in the wake of Tuesday’s election.
Trump has claimed for weeks that he might not accept defeat and would challenge a loss in court regardless of the circumstances.

Stock Futures Point To Higher Open On Wall Street As Traders Await Election Results
Contracts tied to the U.S. equity market pointed to strong gains when regular trading begins at 9:30 a.m. in New York as election results in key battleground states trickle in.
Futures tied to the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 hinted at the most robust gains as traders crowded into large technology companies known for safe returns in times of uncertainty. Those futures rose 3.3% as of 7:40 a.m. ET.
Dow and S&P 500 futures rose 0.5% and 1.45%, respectively.
Additionally, some viewed the potential for Republicans to hold onto the Senate as a positive for Big Tech and communications companies since higher capital gains taxes from a unified Democratic Congress could have weighed on the high-growth sector.

Democrats Weigh Next Options As Senate Republicans Filibuster Voting Rights Bill
“They don’t even want to debate it because they’re afraid. They want to deny the right to vote, make it harder to vote for so many Americans, and they don’t want to talk about it,” Schumer, D-N.Y., said on Tuesday. “There is a rot — a rot — at the center of the modern Republican party. Donald Trump’s big lie has spread like a cancer and threatens to envelop one of America’s major political parties.”
Vice President Kamala Harris, who has been tasked by the White House to work on voting rights, presided over the Tuesday debate in the Senate.
The legislation is cosponsored by 49 Democratic members of the Senate. The one holdout, Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., said Tuesday he’d vote to begin debate after receiving assurances that the Senate would consider a compromise version that he has said he can support.
“Today I will vote ‘YES’ to move to debate this updated voting legislation as a substitute amendment to ensure every eligible voter is able to cast their ballot and participate in our great democracy,” Manchin said in a statement, while adding that he doesn’t support the bill as written.
“We’ll keep talking,” he said after the vote. “You can’t give up. You really can’t.”
Schumer said the vote was “the starting gun, not the finish line” in the battle over ballot access and vowed that Democrats “will not let it die.”
He told reporters on Tuesday that the state-led system held up well in the 2020 election.
It has been rejected by top Republicans as a nonstarter.
‘a Disaster’: Impeachment Could Sideline Senators In 2020 Presidential Campaign
The fact is what we’ve seen in election after election since Trump has been in office is Democrats outperforming prior performances — and that strength has been rooted in the suburbs. Remember, Republicans lost the House in 2018 because suburban voters turned on Trump and the GOP — and Republicans haven’t fixed that problem.
4. Governing still matters
Kentucky is a state Trump won by 30 points. So this should have been a layup for any generic Republican candidate. But Bevin is no generic Republican. He picked fights with all kinds of constituencies in the state.
We’ve seen it time and again — take Kansas, for example — that when a governor governs ideologically, they wind up in political trouble. And the opposite is true, too. The three most popular governors in the country are Republicans in liberal states: Charlie Baker in Massachusetts, Larry Hogan in Maryland and Phil Scott in Vermont. That should be a lesson that the GOP pays attention to.
5. Kentucky likely does not mean much for Mitch McConnell’s and Trump’s chances in the state in 2020
Sure, Bevin was unpopular, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is unpopular in his home state, too. And, yes, Trump was not quite able to drag Bevin across the finish line Tuesday night.
Tight Election Adds To Retailers’ Uncertainty During Already Uncertain Holidays
Retailers have faced nothing short of whiplash this year. And now, one day after Election Day, they face another threat during the all-important holiday season: Americans who may be distracted or anxious as they await results. That could deal a blow to consumer confidence, when retailers would rather shoppers to be centered around gift-giving and decking their homes with holiday decor.
Greg Portell, lead partner in the global consumer practice of Kearney, a strategy and management consulting firm, said the delayed results “will absolutely pause consumer spending.”
“Consumers have been on a great run of spending coming out of the lockdowns,” he said. “We were looking at a great holiday season. All of that is on pause until we see some clarity on who is going to win.”
If history is a guide, at least a temporary drop in spending is likely, according to a recent survey from Adobe Analytics. Adobe found online sales dropped 14% the day after the 2016 election, when Donald Trump was elected to office. They dropped 6% the day after the 2018 midterms, the firm’s research showed.

In Georgia Runoffs Dems Are Running Hard On Health Care Republicans Not So Much
Why are these elections so important?
In determining control of the Senate, the results will put one party or the other in charge of the legislative agenda. A Democratic sweep would result in a 50-50 Senate with soon-to-be Vice President Kamala Harris being the tiebreaking vote in the chamber.
While there still is a 60-vote threshold to get legislation through, it would be much easier to confirm Biden’s Cabinet picks and judicial appointments than if Democrats were in the minority.
Democratic leader Chuck Schumer, who would be presumed to be Senate majority leader if Democrats took control of the chamber, would be in charge of what goes to the floor, including, if it came to it, items like doing away with the filibuster entirely or adding justices to the Supreme Court.
If Republicans won, though, GOP leader Mitch McConnell would be able to largely thwart much of Biden’s agenda.
Trump Endorsed 75 Candidates In The Midterms How Did They Fare On Election Day
Editor’s Note:
This post has been updated to correct the win percentage for President Trump’s endorsees and also to add races which were called after the initial post was written.
All midterm elections become referenda on the sitting president, and this one was no different. The New York Review of Books even cited UCSD election scholar Gary Jacobson’s assertion that “a sitting president has never been as central an issue in a midterm election as Trump is in 2018.”
So how should we interpret what this means for Trump? The first is to see how his candidates did on Election Day, and to compare how they did with other national figures. Here at Brookings, we kept track of all the House and Senate candidates who were endorsed by one of the following major political figures: President Trump, Vice President Pence, former President Obama, former Vice President Biden, or Sen. Bernie Sanders. We then calculated how the candidates they endorsed performed on election night.
As we can see from the bar graph below, Trump endorsed 75 House and Senate candidates, of whom 42 or 55 percent won. With this rate, Trump performed better than Vice President Mike Pence, for whom nearly 50 percent won, but fell behind Obama’s and Biden’s endorsees. Sanders does the best, as his endorsees won 70 percent of the time.
Four Democratic Incumbents One Republican Ousted In Virginia House Primaries
In a night full of upsets, five challengers ousted incumbent Virginia lawmakers in Tuesday’s primary election, including a Trump-allied lawyer who unseated seven-term Del. Charles D. Poindexter and a left-leaning newcomer who bested centrist Del. Stephen E. Heretick .
arrow-right
Del. Ibraheem Samirah was narrowly defeated by Irene Shin, in an unusual race where the Democratic establishment backed the challenger.
And Dels. Lee J. Carter and Mark H. Levine both lost their runs for reelection while simultaneously pursuing unsuccessful bids for statewide office — an unusual dynamic created by a delay in Census Bureau population data that affected the timing of redistricting and the House primaries.
Carter, a self-described socialist who was running for governor, lost the House race to small-business owner Michelle Maldonado, a political novice. Levine, who was seeking the nomination for lieutenant governor, lost his House race to Alexandria Vice Mayor Elizabeth Bennett-Parker, who accused him of treating his constituents as an afterthought.
See full election results from the Virginia primaries
In the 79th District, Nadarius Clark, 26, framed himself as a progressive alternative to Heretick, 61, whom he attacked for accepting money from Dominion Energy and voting against bills to ban assault weapons, end qualified immunity for police officers and empower localities to make decisions about Confederate statues.
“We need someone young who can carry on,” Wilma Welch said.
Trump Who Now Claims Fraud Got More Votes In Detroit Than Most Republicans
Donate
Donald Trump may have alleged election fraud in Detroit, but he received more votes for president than any other Republican in years in the city.
In a speech Thursday from the White House that claimed wholesale fraud nationwide in his election against Democrat Joe Biden, Trump blasted Detroit and Philadelphia as “two of the most politically corrupt places in our country — easily.”
“I wouldn’t say Detroit has the best reputation for election integrity,” Trump said.
Trump made the claims, without citing evidence, days after he significantly improved his performance in Detroit from 2016, while Biden did worse in the city than previous Democrats.
In Tuesday’s election, exit polls nationwide showed African-American voters backed Joe Biden with 87 percent of their vote.
In Detroit, which is 79 percent African American, Biden got 94 percent.
That’s less than Hillary Clinton got in 2016 and less than Barack Obama got in 2008 and 2012. Clinton won by 235,000 votes in Detroit while Biden won by 234,000.
In fact, Trump got 12,654 votes on Tuesday — 5,000 more votes in Detroit than he got in 2016 and far better than Republicans John McCain and Mitt Romney back when the city had tens of thousands more residents and voters.
Don’t blame fraud: Dwindling suburban support lost Michigan for Trump
“It sounds like grasping at straws,” said state Rep. Sherry Gay-Dagnogo, D-Detroit, who won a seat Tuesday night on the Detroit Public Schools board of education.

Democratic Insider And A Republican Backed By Trump Win Ohio House Races
The victories by Shontel Brown, a Democrat supported by the national establishment, and Mike Carey, a Republican endorsed by Donald Trump, provided a lift to the leadership of both parties.
A Democratic candidate backed by the party establishment and a Republican endorsed by former President Donald J. Trump won two primary races for open House seats in Ohio on Tuesday, an assertion of dominance for the leadership of both political parties as they face questions over unity in their ranks.
In a Democratic primary in northern Ohio, Shontel Brown, who vowed to be “a partner” with the Biden administration and Speaker Nancy Pelosi, prevailed over Nina Turner, a party outsider who openly rejected the idea that Democrats are more effective through conciliation and compromise. Late Tuesday, Ms. Brown was leading by over five percentage points, and Ms. Turner conceded the race.
And in a Republican primary near Columbus, Mike Carey, a newcomer to elected office who was largely unknown before being endorsed by Mr. Trump, easily beat out 11 rivals, many of them with much longer records in Ohio politics.
Between the two races, the Democratic fight for the deep-blue 11th District around Cleveland and Akron was the most closely watched as a national bellwether. Prominent Democratic politicians and money from national interest groups cascaded into the district over the past several weeks, leaving a trail of ill will and weariness in their wake.
Democrats Got Millions More Votes So How Did Republicans Win The Senate
Senate electoral process means although Democrats received more overall votes for the Senate than Republicans, that does not translate to more seats
The 2018 midterm elections brought , who retook the House of Representatives and snatched several governorships from the grip of Republicans.
But some were left questioning why Democrats suffered a series of setbacks that prevented the party from picking up even more seats and, perhaps most consequentially, left the US Senate in Republican hands.
Among the most eye-catching was a statistic showing Democrats led Republicans by more than 12 million votes in Senate races, and yet still suffered losses on the night and failed to win a majority of seats in the chamber.
Constitutional experts said the discrepancy between votes cast and seats won was the result of misplaced ire that ignored the Senate electoral process.
Because each state gets two senators, irrespective of population, states such as Wyoming have as many seats as California, despite the latter having more than 60 times the population. The smaller states also tend to be the more rural, and rural areas traditionally favor Republicans.
This year, because Democrats were defending more seats, including California, they received more overall votes for the Senate than Republicans, but that does not translate to more seats.
However, some expressed frustration with a system they suggest gives an advantage to conservative-leaning states.

Voting Legislation Blocked In Senate As Republicans Unite For Filibuster
Sahil Kapur
WASHINGTON — Senate Republicans filibustered debate on voting rights legislation Tuesday, putting Democrats in a predicament about how to advance their high-priority bill.
The vote to advance an amended version of the “For The People Act” split along party lines 50–50, short of the 60 needed. All Democrats voted to begin debate and Republicans unanimously voting to block the bill.
Before the vote, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called the bill an effort to respond to restrictive voting laws in GOP-led states like Georgia, and said the procedural vote was simply to allow debate and an amendment process that will shape the eventual bill.
Raphael Warnock: I Cant Wait To Get To Work After Winning Georgia Runoff
But the fate of the larger progressive legislative agenda remains very much in doubt, given the Senate’s filibuster rule and the narrow size of Democrats’ majority.
“If we have a Senate that is divided 50-50, that makes it very hard to do some of the things you just suggested like recognizing Puerto Rico as a state,” Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., a close Biden ally, said on CNBC.
Schumer will face immense pressure from the left flank of his caucus to reform or eliminate the filibuster, but opposition from moderates like Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.V., has made it clear that that idea is basically dead on arrival.
With the filibuster in place, Republicans can block most legislation , imperiling many Biden priorities, from immigration reform to statehood for the District of Columbia.
“The only viable path to enacting D.C. statehood is bypassing the filibuster — a Jim Crow relic that has been used to block hundreds of racial justice bills,” said DC statehood activist Stasha Rhodes.
There is one major exception to the filibuster rule for budget bills, which can through a process known as reconciliation that only a requires a simple majority, and Democrats are discussing ways to take full advantage of that rule or expand it.
The split chamber will put Harris in an unusual position as she is expected to take a more active role as president of the Senate, which is typically a mostly ceremonial role.
Ossoff will get to serve a full six-year term.
The Next 2020 Election Fight Convincing Trump’s Supporters That He Lost
In Alaska, incumbent Republican Dan Sullivan’s double-digit margin could tighten with mail-in votes still out and only 74% of the votes in as of Wednesday, so put an asterisk next to that one, but that was supposed to be a 3-point race.
There is going to be a reckoning — again — within the polling industry. Survey researchers are already combing their numbers for patterns of what went wrong.
Some theories at this point include:
Early voting: Surveys having too many people in their samples saying they would vote early. The pollsters had a tough time adjusting for that, because there’s no historical trend to go by.
Democratic overresponse: Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents seem to have been more willing to talk to pollsters, and pro-Trump Republicans just didn’t want to participate as much because of their deep distrust of and disdain for the polls and the media.
This is not the idea of a “shy” Trump voter. While survey researchers — Democratic, Republican and nonpartisan — all found people, especially women, less willing to say they are Trump supporters to their friends and families, there is little evidence they aren’t telling pollsters they support the president.
The bigger problem may be Trump supporters simply not wanting to participate at all. That would seem to make sense, considering the consistent underestimation of Republican vote, especially in Republican-leaning states.

Only the top 30 on the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup points list are eligible to play at East Lake in Atlanta.
In order to qualify, Woods – who has struggled with injury and form since claiming his 15th major at the Masters in April – needed to finish 11th or higher at Medinah, but was tied for 37th after a closing 72.
“Last year culminated in a pretty special moment for me and it would’ve been nice to go back there,” Woods said. “But I’ll be watching the guys on TV.”
Thomas now leads the points standings after a 10th PGA Tour victory that was secured thanks to four birdies on the back nine.
England’s Tommy Fleetwood was tied for 11th on 13 under with Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy two shots further back.
Earlier in the day, five-time major winner Phil Mickelson almost missed his tee time after lightning set fire to the roof of his hotel.
The American had been evacuated from his hotel, but managed to retrieve his clubs from his room in time and eventually carded a 71 that left him at five under.
“Kind of a funny deal,” he said after his round. “There were 10 fire trucks. I got in my car and left and couldn’t get back. The roads were closed and the hotel was closed.
“But things cleared up pretty quickly. I was able to get back in and get my stuff. It all worked out great – except my score.”
