I love the idea that Bruce takes the Batfam on hikes outside of Gotham, and puts up with the arguing over who goes in what car, packs everyone's favourite snacks, will race with the other car if enough passengers in his egg him on. Bruce generally stays ridicuously quiet while the kids jabber enough to alert everything living in the woods near them but will weigh in once the kids debate who's strong enough to wrestle a bear, chime in on unsolved hiker cases, build fires, and carry anyone that gets tired, all while sneaking awful pictures of them.

#One of the kids usually peels off the rest of the group and quietly joins him at the front #Bruce has to beg and plead that none of them climb stupidly #There was one funny occasion when Jason broke his ankle and Bruce carried him back (Jason was utterly unamused and annoyed)#Damian loves the hikes and informs them of every animal and plant in the vicinity (and pretended there were leeches once when Steph took a #dip in a lake)#Duke becomes the flashlight when it gets dark at everyone's insistence and has a phenomenal spooky story voice #Cass and Dick have silly contests to give Bruce heart attacks by going off trail and scaling the side of the mountain #Tim has to be pried off some technology and sunburns awfully even on cloudy days. He's also the only one ready for the ticks #Babs and Alfred join when the hikes are wheelchair accessible or take a more scenic drive up and meet them at the top/at campgrounds #dc comics #batman #bruce wayne #batfamily

Does anybody else think about how Minthara is probably a very slow eater when she's with the group? About how she holds her plate, not eating anything. About how she watches, and waits for someone else to randomly drop dead. About how she doesn't start eating until after everyone has finished because it's the only way she can know for sure the food isn't poisoned.

Or about how sometimes she will secretly throw out the plate, completely paranoid about the food being poisoned. In which she silently prepares her own food in the background or eats the camp rations she gathered herself. Where she microdoses herself and her lover, not necessarily because they might return to Menzoberranzan, but because she thinks one of the other companions might poison her and her lover. Where some nights she has to insist on cooking besides the camp cook for the night or cooks entirely herself as it is the only guarantee that the food isn't poisoned.

Cause I think about it a lot.

I have so many thoughts about why this arc is SO GOOD #But the short version is like #It is an arc about Fjord and identity and power and self and agency as he faces the truth of his patron and faces a rival warlock #But it is ALSO about Fjord grappling with those things bc he is ALSO processing grief and sadness and a search for direction and purpose #and grappling with disappointing disillusionment in how the world and people in your life (including maybe yourself) isn't what you thought #and about coming to resolve he has the agency and strength to not allow these things to deter him from purpose and place in the world.#And—this is why this is a PHENOMENAL arc—so is the rest of the Nein. Individually and as a group.#All of them are grappling with feelings of grief and sadness and disappointment and directionlessness and helplessness #just the grand malaise and relentless shapelessness of what living often is #They also as individuals and as a group together also find that resolve and strength to carry on and find self and purpose and direction #They all begin to process the very same things in their own lives and in their shared experience as The Nein. #tmnt #i could talk about this for hours but it pisses me off so bad when people ON MY OWN POSTS are like ooh splinter is neglectful he suuucks #shut up you idiot everything he does is for them he would kill himself in a heartbeat for them #the fact that they even survived past infancy in their circumstances is a testament to phenomenal parenting by any realistic human standard #it's just that a) it's a show about the ninja turtles so of course they're going to have a lot of unsupervised escapades #& it's not fair to read THAT much into his absence b) they are older kids at this point & it's perfectly reasonable for a group of 13-17 y/#s to go to the grocery store without a chaperone and c) his strained relationship with his grandpa heavily informs his approach to parentin #so he thinks that smothering too much at this age will drive them away & he wants to encourage their blossoming independence as much as #possible because that's what he craved at that age #and it's so clear in every flashback that he was a constant nurturing & encouraging presence in their childhood & he misses the days when #they really relied on him hence piebald #and he WANTS to spend time with them he really does. he begged to be in their family band he has to excruciatingly hold himself back from #following them on their adventures at times but again he doesn't want to smother them at this age so he finds other outlets #remember when he bought a 20$ cup of lemonade from raph & leo because he didnt want them to be sad that they got no customers in their #Sewer lemonade stand #he loves them more than anything he's just weird and autistic about it okay. shut up. Absolutely love that every clone still working with the Empire that Crosshair has a mission with all go AWOL immediately after interacting with him. It draws him unwanted attention from the Admiral because it looks like he’s the key in the other clones getting radicalized and leaving to fight against the Empire instead of for them, but really it’s just because Crosshair doesn’t hesitate when they do to follow a clearly despicable order, clarifying that the Empire really isn’t the Republic they all fought for and that it isn’t peace they’re maintaining.

He’s not some rebel or otherwise, he just makes such shitty decisions that the other clones are like oh yeah the Empire is fucked up im out. That’s so fucking funny to me, actually.

What are the boyfriends discussing? Something to do with the team, probably, and how Gen tends to make competitive situations worse due to his lack of social graces-ending in fights between the Knights.

Guren is the only responsible one, which is probably why he’s the one in charge, but he has his moments of temperament too

Anyway you have no idea how cathartic it is to make fanart for a show I loved back in the day, especially since I wasn’t that good of an artist back then. Now I actually feel like I can make stuff that I can be proud of for it-and it feels wonderful seeing how far I’ve come

The next couple of days will probably be a Tenkai Knight overhaul-just because I’ve missed this show and wished there was a second season that focused on the characters as teenagers-with Guren trying to balance the conflicts of a very diverse group in terms of personalities as a leader, and everyone dealing with the changes of growing up while also still dealing with an alien civil war.

It probably wouldn’t have been as gay as I’m gonna make it for however long I end up making this stuff, but I’d like to indulge in the potential this show had for a while
