Does anybody else think about how Minthara is probably a very slow eater when she's with the group? About how she holds her plate, not eating anything. About how she watches, and waits for someone else to randomly drop dead. About how she doesn't start eating until after everyone has finished because it's the only way she can know for sure the food isn't poisoned.
Or about how sometimes she will secretly throw out the plate, completely paranoid about the food being poisoned. In which she silently prepares her own food in the background or eats the camp rations she gathered herself. Where she microdoses herself and her lover, not necessarily because they might return to Menzoberranzan, but because she thinks one of the other companions might poison her and her lover. Where some nights she has to insist on cooking besides the camp cook for the night or cooks entirely herself as it is the only guarantee that the food isn't poisoned.
Cause I think about it a lot.

I love the idea that Bruce takes the Batfam on hikes outside of Gotham, and puts up with the arguing over who goes in what car, packs everyone's favourite snacks, will race with the other car if enough passengers in his egg him on. Bruce generally stays ridicuously quiet while the kids jabber enough to alert everything living in the woods near them but will weigh in once the kids debate who's strong enough to wrestle a bear, chime in on unsolved hiker cases, build fires, and carry anyone that gets tired, all while sneaking awful pictures of them.

Damon keeps being shown with a red apple in both a lot of the promotional material as well as the opening intro, which feels very intentional considering the way this game takes a LOT of inspiration from the bible. The red apple represents temptation, in case the temptation of committing a murder to escape alive. Eva, just like Eve, was the first to bite the apple. And after her, her only other companion followed suit.
Damon's animal motif is the snake. Manipulative. Conniving. Untrustworthy. A traiter and a deceiver. Motivated by self interest. He's the snake, the root cause of the reason humanity was banned from paradise. He's constantly depicted holding the apple, never biting into it, as if still contemplating about whether to give in to the temptation of it all.
My biggest prediction for Damon is that he'll be the last murderer. That he'll perform the final kill and escape at the expense of all of them, the very way he accused them all of being predestined to do from the start.

hi! i was intrigued by your tag that said San of ateez was not just born to dance but also forced to. would you mind explaining what you meant? thanks!
hi! i can definitely have a go :) maybe "born to perform and incredibly also forced to perform" would have been more apt in hindsight, but i still think the dance thing is applicable.
re: born to dance, the sort of general kpop sphere fan-perception of him as a dancer is something that's interested me as far as i've seen during my limited time knowing ateez because i've seen a lot of (usually ateez anti-minded, admittedly, but it's interesting that they bring up the Same Criticism every time) people criticising him for being an over-dancer and then similarly a lot of people, including fans of the group, say that while he's a good performer, his technique as a dancer is something that's lacking a little. like - no matter whether they like or dislike ateez/san, there seems to be at least a semi-common line of thinking that's repeated over and over again about san being heavy on performance but ultimately not as polished technique-wise.
and it's just interesting to me because san's technique as a dancer is something that stood out to me when i started watching ateez performances properly, and it's also something that i've seen actual dancers highlight as one of his strengths. i think a lot of people fall into the trap of thinking that if someone is a particularly incredible performer, it must be to hide the fact that their actual dancing is in some way lacking (or vice versa for other people - "x is technically incredible, but they have no stage presence/their vocals are lacking"), and then when they hear it applied to someone (e.g. san) they just repeat it without really thinking to challenge it, but with san i don't think that's the case at all.
i was actually really surprised when i learned that he didn't really have any dance training to begin with, because it just looks like something he's meant to do. like, this guy was born to move. him having a background in martial arts makes more sense though, because his bodily control is insane. his isolations are incredible, he's ridiculously flexible, and sharpness in dance is always enjoyable to watch but more than that the thing that gets me about san + dancing is just how fluid he is. there are plenty of examples but watch any it's you performance and ifl it's kind of obvious what i mean here.
i also like that he pulls from a wide range of styles. kpop, from what i've seen so far, is a hiphop heavy genre when it comes to the way male idols dance, and i just think it's really neat to see someone like san who clearly borrows from a massive range of styles and does it all incredibly well.
on the perform aspect, i don't think i need to go into too much detail re: born to perform, because the guy gives his everything onstage and embodies every single song in a way that's immediately immersive. i don't think he's actually forced to perform in the standard sense - it's part of the meme sentence i was parodying - but the thing that fascinates me about san is just how different on-san and off-san seem to be.
like, if i only watched ateez performances and not any of their other content or lives or social media accounts, i guess i could sort of see how the more common fan-perception of san is formed. but he's just so different off-stage in a way that's more dramatic than most of the other guys, at least to me. it goes without saying that they're all incredibly multifaceted because i'm talking about real people here, but for people like yunho, or wooyoung especially, or jongho, i feel like there's a pretty cohesive identity formed between their on-stage and off-stage personas because every complex aspect of their personality is in some way advertised everywhere. mingi meanwhile more seems to match the vibes of whoever he's in front of at least from what i've seen, and then san gives me such powerful whiplash that i'm like wait, this is the guy people are portraying like that? i'm getting something completely different! and now even when i see san the onstage performer, i can't quite separate him from san the offstage idol, so i still can't quite see the more common fan* perception in full.
(*a lot of this comes from western/english speaking fans, and obviously, korean culture/masculinity/everything else is something that's inevitably going to be completely different to western culture/masculinity/everything else, but even looking at it through a western lens i'm still surprised by how differently i read things)
it's just something i've noticed re: celebrities but especially idols - they get assigned a persona or a set of traits that then become canon and unchangeable with no room for anything else at least for Some People, and then it becomes part of their idol persona, and then everything they do gets read through that lens. it's a bit like wooyoung + the feminine perception to bring in another example of a perception of someone in ateez that i don't fully see personally.
ANYWAY. i'm not even sure if all this makes sense i'm Very Sorry lmao. and i'll not go into the specifics here re: san and his Everything from my perspective because i've already been typing for a while and ALSO i'm very new to ateez and still trying to get to grips with everything so i'm fully expecting my understanding of everyone to evolve 100000 times in the next few months, but tl;dr i love san, i love his dancing, i love the way he performs, i want to bite him about it

[blows a kiss out to sea] for the Mighty Nein pirates arc
#I'm!! I have so many thoughts about why this arc is SO GOOD#But the short version is like#It is an arc about Fjord and identity and power and self and agency as he faces the truth of his patron and faces a rival warlock#But it is ALSO about Fjord grappling with those things bc he is ALSO processing grief and sadness and a search for direction and purpose#and grappling with disappointing disillusionment in how the world and people in your life (including maybe yourself) isn't what you thought#and about coming to resolve he has the agency and strength to not allow these things to deter him from purpose and place in the world.#And—this is why this is a PHENOMENAL arc—so is the rest of the Nein. Individually and as a group.#All of them are grappling with feelings of grief and sadness and disappointment and directionlessness and helplessness#just the grand malaise and relentless shapelessness of what living often is#They also as individuals and as a group together also find that resolve and strength to carry on and find self and purpose and direction#They all begin to process the very same things in their own lives and in their shared experience as The Nein. Simultaneously and together.#It's an arc about Fjord and self and agency in the face of disappointment and grief and disillusionment.#It's an arc about the Nein—individually and as a whole—and self and agency in the face of disappointment and grief and disillusionment.#It's SUCH a strong arc bc ALL of them are taking the same internal journey—structured around Fjord's very externalized version of it.#And it's got incredible vibes (pirate warlocks of a leviathan!) and some GREAT set pieces. And every NPC in the arc is iconic as is Twiggy.#Anyway. In my feelings about this arc. I said this is the short version and yet.#Critical Role things#CR meta

he literally sews his kids stupid little outfits from scratch does anyone even fucking care
#tmnt#i could talk about this for hours but it pisses me off so bad when people ON MY OWN POSTS are like ooh splinter is neglectful he suuucks#shut up you idiot everything he does is for them he would kill himself in a heartbeat for them#the fact that they even survived past infancy in their circumstances is a testament to phenomenal parenting by any realistic human standard#it's just that a) it's a show about the ninja turtles so of course they're going to have a lot of unsupervised escapades#& it's not fair to read THAT much into his absence b) they are older kids at this point & it's perfectly reasonable for a group of 13-17 y/#s to go to the grocery store without a chaperone and c) his strained relationship with his grandpa heavily informs his approach to parentin#so he thinks that smothering too much at this age will drive them away & he wants to encourage their blossoming independence as much as#possible because that's what he craved at that age#and it's so clear in every flashback that he was a constant nurturing & encouraging presence in their childhood & he misses the days when#they really relied on him hence piebald#and he WANTS to spend time with them he really does. he begged to be in their family band he has to excruciatingly hold himself back from#following them on their adventures at times but again he doesn't want to smother them at this age so he finds other outlets#remember when he bought a 20$ cup of lemonade from raph & leo because he didnt want them to be sad that they got no customers in their#Sewer lemonade stand#he loves them more than anything he's just weird and autistic about it okay. shut up. Shut the fuck up#not really relevant but his room is so baller i'd spend all my time here if this was my room. minifridge and everything
