In honor of spooky season, here's a spooky crossbreed!
Pokemon Crossbreeds: Will-Ó-the-Wisp
Will-Ó-the-Wisp, also spelled as Will-o-wisp in Unova, is the name for a Phantump/Trevenant with a father that's a member of the Litwick Line. The breed was named after the fairytail of the same name, which arre ghostly flames found in forests.

Phantump
Tumblr media
Will-Ó-the-wisp Phantump have gained the illusion of a flame on their head, which can help them lure more people into forests.
(I don't normally put shinies, but I like this ones shiny)
Tumblr media
Trevenant
This breed of Trevenanr have gained Bioluminecent leaves that help then lure away intruders. In their neutral form, they have gained leaves that take the shape of Chandelure's flame. They're most feared in Ballonlea, Galar, with there being many myths of them being evil fairies made stronger by chandelure. However, these pokemon are just protective of their territories and have a kind nature.

A very cute Crossbreed request on The Ranger Base discord.
Bonsly/Phantump
I imagine this one became a Grass/ Rock type, with the wood around its body becoming petrified wood, allowing it to tuck inside and hide.
It doesn't have the ghost type but it has access to a couple moves.
It also likes to pretend to be stumps in the forest and make creepy child like noises to scare travelers.
They are incredibly shy when discovered.
Like shy toddlers!
The weepiness of Bonsly
The child-like habits of Phantump
Bontump!
The Shy Stump Pokemon!

Uhm.. shoot.. uh-- OH SHIT IT'S ALREADY RUNNING-
ahem, Hello Rotomblr! This is Sots/Star, a humble Rotom requesting your help. I have a lost, uh, thing, in my hands. My uh. My wings, actually. They've been here for a year and have avoided all types of social media as long as they could but now's the time, so, hello! The, uh, thing, in question, is Battan, a very young, "vessel", they say. They have shown behavior like a bug-type pokémon but are actually the farthest thing from that? Hold on- I'll get you guys a picture.
Tumblr media
That's them, right there! They were laying in the grass here. They REFUSE to EVER go ANYWHERE without that uh, knife, thingy. They call it a nail though, but.. c'mon. Side note when they appeared they also somehow brought a whole Xurkitree with them? We named it Spark. Actually-
Tumblr media
After like, two months, I decided to get them a trainer ID- Except, they thought it was a Zorua-Phantump crossbreed posing as a human trying to get an ID so they denied us. So we drew our own and literally nobody has questioned.
Our friends include, of course:
Spark, the Xurkitree (I don't know)
Vespa, the Ribombee (female)
and Ghostling, the Shedinja (genderless)
plus ME! (I forgot)
Battan can type, but again, they were just- too shy- hold on.
(...)
..frhrggh, hi i am battan
Apparently they didn't quite speak, uh, any coherent language? They did try to write in their own in the card, but we figured it out.
Hopefully we find them a way back with all you guy's help.
\and i said: I WILL NOT HAVE ANOTHER ROTOMBLR BLOG>
\i had another. i made a faller hollow knight oc>
\anyways hello! ooc section. as you all know this is BOB, gloriously cringe as usual. this is one of my older oc's, one who's mute (cause hk) and prefers to speak in sign language or writing, so they usually either write very simple or they need star's help>
\ily all, gonna reblog like three ask games to get this started with star just wanting to have fun>

Log #05
Officer Jenny brought a hurt sobble to me, she told me that it was tangled in a trap wire and she wasn't sure if the pokémon hospital had enough room with the upsurge of cases. I have some instruments here that I can use to heal it, but it will be a long process. I am not a doctor nor a nurse, so I can only do some basic first aid. I'll need to take a course on this the second I am able to.
Jellowl seems to be curious about the sobble, and I can't blame him, I don't think that I've ever seen one up close either. It's pretty far from home. I've heard of piplups sometimes getting lost and swimming to other regions in their confusion, but never this one. Misuo region does have some members of the lacertidae family, but most of them hibernate during the winter... None of them are water types. This specific pokémon, however, does not hibernate and as such would not survive over the winter on any wild area.
I'll need to see if I can set up a water tank for this fellow and possibly build a greenhouse-like structure for future, I don't think that this specific sobble is strong enough to travel back to Galar with how small it is. The stress of being moved like that could prove to be fatal to it.
The sobble is around 15 centimeters tall (as opposed to the usual 30) and weights approximately 2 kilograms, quite possibly a recently hatched pokémon. I'll need to contact professors Magnolia and Sonia to ask them about this pokémon and what it'll require for living. But one thing is sure.
It can't be let into the wilderness.
Though it's possible that it might adapt and it may even be able to crossbreed with local pokémon of the same family, I wouldn't risk it without it being monitored. I'll be holding onto this fellow as well and caring for it, not as a professor, but as a trainer, and learning all I can about its species.
I might be able to help it feel more at home if I were to capture a scorbunny, however season based fur change may confuse it.
I need to see Leon, Piers, Raihan and Sonia ASAP, I don't know nearly enough about Galarian pokémon to trust myself to take good care of this sobble without their help. I am also supposed to be receiving some help from a trainer who has expressed interest in becoming a professor himself. He'll be arriving from Unova next week to study under me as an assistant with his partner pokémon, Phantump.
His name is Silver Clover from what I've gathered and he's friends with Cyan and Cyane, the grass gym leader duo that is usually staying anywhere but in their respective gym. It also appears that Crimson, fighting gym leader, may also know him along with Thistle, the fairy gym leader.
According to Professor Juniper, Clover is a bit shy boy and very gentle while working with pokémon, which is apparently why she encouraged him to study under me as I was apparently the same. Whatever that means. We only met very briefly when I was a trainer myself during my little study trip to an Unovan science exhibition, so I am not certain that she knows that much about me. Then again, the science types tend to talk to one another a lot, professor Magnolia or Professor Sycamore might've told her about me.
Either way, having a pair of extra hands will be very helpful in the long run, and we may be able to do more in depth investigations regarding these pokémon appearances once he learns how to deal with the native pokémon.
And who knows, maybe Clover is exactly what the sobble needs. I can only hope.
Professor Joshua Alder, signing out.

Note
Wait I just realized does crossbreeding Pokémon change their shiny colors? Like with the knight gardevoir are their shiny colors like the originals or are a mix between the two?
Crossbreeding does change shiny colors, and it depends. Sometimes it's a cross between the original, sometimes it stays the same as the purebred shiny, and sometimes it's different.
I don't show the shinies often because I forget, but here is shiny Will-Ó-Wisp Phantump

As an artist how do you make pokemon crossbreeds? since I am thinking about making some.
Thanks for asking! I'd love an excuse to talk about the process.
1. I find the pokemon I want to make a crossbreed of. I have a full Google docs list to keep track of names and ones I want to do and all of that, since a lot of the fun for me I'd coming up with names for them
2. 99% of the time, the art is traced. I used to draw earlier crossbreeds freely, but they were supposed to be quick design practice and I would end up spending too long on them, so I started tracing them
3. I love crossbreed art, and while I don't want to throw anyone under the bus, I always felt like a lot of the crossbreeds felt "too-fusion like." What I try my best to do is find small traits to fit in with the existing design, while not changing it too much. While I sometimes let go of that for the sake of fun (when I made the slurpuff and raochu crossbreed), I usually keep that ruleset. An example would be this Cadenza Lapras (primarina father)
Tumblr media
Lapras already has spikes, so to make it look more like Primarina, I made them sharper, like the spikes on Primarina's tail. It also has a more pointed snout, like Primarina.
And this sprinting scorbunny too (yamper father). While a dog and rabbit aren't that similar, both yamper and scorbunny have the same yellow, pointed ears, eyes, and other similar features. So, I made the scorbunny's fluff connect like yamper, gave it the paw markings of yamper, turned its tail into that of yamper, and made it stick its tongue out like yamper.
Tumblr media
I recommend keeping the color scheme similar, but that can be difficult when they have wildly different color schemes. What I try to do then to make up for it is add more traits of the father pokemon, so whole it looks similar at first glance, you can tell it's different. I did that with Clanging Noivern (jangmo-o father)
Tumblr media
If the pokemon seems too different, they finding smaller traits to use. Right now, I'm making a Gastrodon with a Phantump father and they seemed hard, but I was able to find similar traits; such as the wisps in the designs and making their shell look like a tree a bit.
4. Other than that, process follows art stuff. Sketch over the official art to add differing traits, and then outline it in black. My outlines are messy since again, these are more breaks for my other art (I have an Instagram where I post some of my art btw, I don't post much art on my main tumblr), but outline whatever way you want
5. Do what you want! These are just the rules I follow that I made for myself! These are just supposed to be fun stuff and shouldn't be polices
6. Send me the crossbreeds. I want to see them
7. Hope these helped! I'm not the best at explaining my art process
