Brief summary of Phantom (show): masked guy lives under Paris Opera House (or just a parisian opera house) and makes demands of the people running the opera, sabotaging stuff and killing people if they don't comply. Demands include making his favourite chorus girl who he's been training the prima donna, and putting on a performance of the grand opera he wrote about Don Juan. Man is extra as hell and loves to make an entrance.
He kinda gives me fanon Tim vibes, honestly
The show is a 6/10 imo, but worth seeing for the opening alone
So here me out here's my pitch for my tim x phantom thing - tim meets the phantom when he's in Paris and they have a wild romance but eventually Tim has to leave choosing gotham over the phantom leaving him heart broken then the events of phantom of the opera happen and the phantom is forced to leave Paris making his way to gotham where he finds tim tim seeing the phantom in such bad shape buys a theatre bc he knows the phantom needs one like its his natural environment to thrive he needs to like be under a theatre and then tim and the phantom get closer but the phantom finds out tim is dating kon or Bernard he can't really figure out which one and idk love square happens

DPxDC prompt: Danny is Chronos' first child.
Well, not his first child biologically, to be completely honest.
It just so happened that the Phantom very often helped/helps/will help Clockwork at different times and his presence next to the titan required an explanation.
And the opportunity to call Zeus a little brother is worth a lot, right? So when the Ancient came up with this idea Phantom did not resist just to have such a pleasant bonus from their cooperation.
However, in the time of the gods and heroes, such a solution was not a problem. But in modern times, when Phantom tries to attract as little attention as possible in order to graduate from university, such relatives are more likely to cause a lot of problems.
~~~~~
Wonder Woman: Uncle Danny?
Superman, who wanted to chase away a teenager serenely strolling through still smoking battlefield, turns to Wonder Woman, who is waving affably at excactly this guy.
Well, Fenton honestly happened to be in Fawcett City by accident, and it just so happened that by chance it was on this sunny and cloudless day that the villains decided to cause riots worthy of the attention of the founders of the Justice League.
Danny: Diana! My dear, it seems like we really haven't seen each other not for a long time! In what century was it? Ah, I honestly, I barely remember it... The speed at which children grow up defies the laws of time. I mean, look at you! Your mother must be so proud. How's Dad? Still not paying child support, arrogant bastard?
Wonder Woman: Oh, uncle, please. I'm all grown up now, don't worry about me.
Danny: Hm, well, let's get back to this question later. I didn't want to embarrass you in front of your friends. Anyway, would you like to introduce them, little princess?
Wonder Woman: Of course, meet Kal El, Batman, and Shazam. The rest of the guys have already returned to our base. Would you like to...
Danny: Ooh, you're talking about, um... What do you young people call it? The Justice League, right? During my youth, the heroes rarely united and mostly performed all the feats alone. It's good that you help each other, kids.
Danny flies up a little to pat Superman and Batman on the head.
Under the Diana's gaze full of hope that they will get along with her uncle, the men do not move.
In the background:
Red Hood and Robin who used to hang out with Danny near the Lazarus pits: *sounds of seagulls dying of laughter*
~~~~~
Flash: So you're Diana's uncle?
Danny: Yes, call me Danny.
Flash: Cool, cool...
Danny: What does the temperature have to do with it? Do you need ice? Let me make some for you.
Flash: No, it's like,um, I didn't know that Zeus has a younger brother with that name. So, it's good to know?
Danny: Hmm, thanks. Many people tell me that I look quite young, hah. But actually I'm his older brother, so...
Flash: Older? Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to disrespect.
Danny: No, it's all right. It's "cool". I rarely appear on the pages of your human myths and legends, I know it. After all this business about Chronos devours his own children, my father punished me for a long time. So, yeah...It's a funny story.
Flash: Punished for what? How?
Danny: Uh, sitting in a room at a time when there is no Internet or electricity is not fun at all. You see, I just didn't want a younger brother or sister because I was afraid that my parents would pay less attention to me. So, I made up this stupid prophecy and persuaded Gaea to tell it in order to remain the only child in the family. My father would never have thought that I would decide to kill him, that's why...Phah, it's just a bad family story. In 10 thousand years, we'll all laugh about it.
Flash: Yeah, that's... funny.
~~~~
Danny *is woken up by an emergency call from the League at three in the morning, although he fell asleep at two o'clock* (he gave his contact so as not to upset his niece): I knew this would happen! I knew it!
~~~~
Billy Batson *stands in his human form in front of the Justice League and doesn't know what to say*,*sweating nervous*.
Danny *enters the hall*: What's up, mortals, Diana and...Batman? My father said that there is something that I have to be here for. Oh! Well, at least someone in this family is also a shapeshifter. Have you decided to make a younger form so that your uncle doesn't feel lonely? What a good boy! Usually everyone is so afraid to seem like children, once they turn a couple of centuries old. Ah, youth~
Billy: Yeah, I decided to..experiment? and it seems I got stuck by accident.
Danny: It's okay, Uncle Danny will help you. Come on, let's go...
~~~~
Danny *teleports them to the Fawcett City*.
Billy: ....
Danny:
Billy: Hey, I'm still stuck!
A new portal opens and a man in a purple cape hands Billy a note. "Go to Constantine. P.S., my son always completes all assignments only by half, sorry." written on it.
Billy: Oh... OoOhHh!!!
~~~~
Meanwhile, Constantine, who is forced to do additional work: Son of a bi... beloved and respected Master of Time.
Danny: Yeap, that's me.
Constantine: Damn it. Couldn't you just let Batman adopt him like in other timelines?
Danny: And where's the fun in that?

Bats and Phantoms - Part 5
Part 4 | Masterpost
Jason and Phantom
Danny has noticed a pattern ever since he punched the Joker to death.
He's lost multiple things over the course of the past few weeks. Once, his laptop was smashed to bits during an attack by Bane (he really should have Tucker reinforce all his electronics). The next day, there was a new Wayne tech laptop on his counter.
When he visited his favorite cafe, his usual orders were paid for the next month. The barista refused to tell him who bought his month's supply of Living Dead. She was smiling a little too much in his opinion (he'd have to ask Tucker for a background check on Chelsea now. He liked her, but damn him if she was working with the crime lord.)
Danny knows very well that Gothamites either mug people or get mugged. And yet for the entire time, he hasn't gone through that BS... At all. It's almost nice.
He's done his best not to get caught up with the Bats, except for the fucking Red Hood. He tries to stay low, knowing that the Bats—especially Batman—was very strict on his no-kill-rule. Red Hood in the other hand... Unfortunately, he can't escape the bastard if all he wants to do is follow Danny around and gift him the most random shit. But if he's gonna deal with the Red Hood, then he's going to use it for good.
In other words, he was going to let the man feed him with godly food that he'd never been able to have. Danny's a decent cook but the Red Hood was almost godly when it came to cooking.
"You're never gonna leave me alone?" Danny doesn't even turn away from his laptop once he hears Red Hood slip into his apartment, shamelessly crawling through his window. He's so fucking sure there's a bunch of containers in his arms or maybe a reusable bag, but there's a bunch of containers. Filled with food.
"Someone's gotta keep you fed." Red Hood softly hums, passing Danny from where he was sitting on his floor while his dry eyes were watching instruction videos. By this point, Hood might be playing Tetris in his fridge with the containers. (Danny hopes there's chicken in there)
He doesn't move, doesn't want to.
Red Hood pokes his cheek.
Danny grunts in reply.
His cheek is poked again.
He might just bite the guy's hand off.
"Go away."
"Eat and then sleep."
"Perish."
"C'mon now, darling. You gotta take a break or whatever the hell you're studying for will go away."
"I will stab you."
But apparently, Red Hood isn't intimidated by his threats, already picking out one of the containers, heating it up, and then proceeding to make Danny suffer from the scent of something chicken. He's so hungry, he's sleepy, but he has exams! He has deadlines! A part of him wanted this handsome and sexy crime lord to pamper him but he'd drown in that contaminated ecto (Lazarus) than admit it.
And then his laptop is confiscated by a crime lord. Danny suddenly finds himself sitting on the Red Hood's lap and being forced to eat. At least the man isn't feeding Danny himself.
He was just enjoying the chicken casserole, sleepily trying not to stab a fork into his mouth while Red Hood has his hands on Danny's waist, caressing and cooing at him to keep eating.
The next day, he wakes up in his bed, tucked in, and the scent of freshly made coffee from his kitchen.
(God, his siblings are going to make fun of him for this)
Jason likes Danny. He'd actually tell himself that he legitimately adores the tired and unhinged college student. He wants that crazy little shit like he's gonna blow up the world if he doesn't. Because he wasn't just Joker's killer. Danny Fenton unknowingly became Jason Todd's avenger, the one person to actually avenge the second Robin. And he's just...
The infatuation would have been almost selfish, if not for the fact that Jason grew to actually fall for Danny after making sure the young man was okay. He's done his best to keep Danny away from the Bats. He didn't need Batman fucking this up for him.
Danny was so... strange. In a good and endearing way. He was dedicated to his studies, and tried to live his life but helped when he could. He's seen Danny stop by crime alley a couple of times just to help feed the kids, just to hand over blankets and what seemed to be his old clothes that nobody would be wearing. He was kind, and brutal if he wanted to be. Aside from the Joker, Jason had witnessed Danny almost drown a man for trying to kidnap a meta child in the same alley. The bastard was left for dead but survived when someone dragged him out.
Oh, Jason was in love. Horrifically so.
Honestly, he was kinda screwed at this point.
He's pretty happy that he doesn't share a class with Danny. If he did, he might not be able to focus on the lecture knowing that the very thing that calms the pits inside him was so close. The possibility of getting lulled into sleep was pretty high. But their schedules didn't even align and he barely saw Danny on campus. But he'd be lying if he wasn't trying to catch a small glimpse of him.
It's one of those days that he doesn't try looking for Danny when he's got some papers for Lit. But this was different.
Riddler is a maniac, even when he tries to be harmless. Anyone who failed to solve his riddles sometimes got blown up. Gotham U ends up becoming one of his targets. Jason just so happens to be there, waiting, watching, unable to operate out of his suit. The Waynes were not the Bats. They tried not to be to keep their identities face.
He needed to keep everyone away. He needed to keep them safe, even as Jason Todd. Fuck.
Riddles. Riddler liked his riddles, plagued the city with them. Barbara's voice is in his ears immediately, reciting Riddlers gods damned questions.
"I hold dreams cast by the desperate and bold,
My heart is silver, my whispers cold.
I’ve seen generations, yet I do not age,
A quiet witness to joy, love, and rage.
Though rooted in stone, I endlessly flow,
Reflecting the sky and the world below.
Look beneath where wishes sleep,
There lies a secret, dark and deep.
What am I?" Babs' voice is shaky, just a bit before she's hardened steel in seconds.
Jason cursed under his breath, trying to figure out the riddle. They weren't stupid. They've done this before and Nygma's Riddles were hard just for them, especially Tim and Bruce. But even so, Jason was raised by Batman. He could do this.
The words were complex, the poetic nature was irksome. But Jason took just a couple more minutes before he's identifying the answer.
"A fucking fountain. Gotham U has three of those." Jason responds immediately, sucking in a deep breath as he quickly evacuates his classmates and urges them out the building. "East, north, and south."
"Red Robin and Orphan en route to the south fountain. Robin and Nightwing to the east." Oracle quickly says, "Batman to north. Signal and Spoiler are evacuating everyone from the building. Hood, get out of there—now!"
No can do, Babs, he thinks to himself and goes running to the northern part of the campus. Batman can't do shit alone, even if he insists on it. They've learned not to let him.
He arrives before Batman, already rummaging through the fountain for the fucking bomb. If it was beneath the fountain then he'd have to destroy it, but if it was already attached to the water? Shit.
One second later, he's trying to find anything to destroy the cement, and then another passed. Jason is staring at a strange young man, white hair, green eyes—it reminds him of the descriptions of Wraith and Specter that Damian and Dick repeated. He blinks, meeting eyes with the maybe Ghost Hero. He flinched, looking into glowing Lazarus—a purer hue—eyes. "The bombs under the fountain?"
"Uh... Yes!"
The ghost nodded, phasing his hands through the fountain and a second later, he's dragging out a bomb. Fuck, it only had ten seconds to spare. Both of them stared at it, wide eyed as they panic on what to do. But the stranger doesn't seem to pay too much attention and proceeds to swallow the bomb.
"WHAT THE FUCK—"
An explosion—muffled and small—boomed through the courtyard and Jason stared at the smoke and flames covering the ghosts head. A coughing fit is heard through the smoke and the stranger is waving it away, whining about the horrible taste of burnt food.
Lazarus eyes look back at him, blinking before offering Jason a radiant smile. "Sorry about that! I'm Phantom, by the way. Was just passing by when I heard about the bomb." He offers Jason a hand, still smiling.
"Oh, uhm... Any relations to Specter?" Jason immediately asks, trying not to die from his own stupidity. Way to go Jay, immediately interrogating another guy that makes the pits all mushy and warm.
Fuck, fuck fuck. Was he going to fall for everyone that calms the pits? Fuck, he didn't want to cheat on Danny (Jayyoudelusionalidiotyou'renotevendating.)
Phantom tilts his head, before he's laughing loudly. "You've met my little sister?"
"No, but she saved my brother from a kidnapping."
"Is that so?" Phantom smiled, clearly amused. "Well then, I must bid you adieu. I can see that your city's knight has this all handled."
Just then, Batman drops just behind Jason. DAMNIT, B! GO AWAY!
Phantom just glances at Batman, amused before he takes Jason's hand and pressed a light kiss to it. Cold lips pressed against his hand and he's immediately blue screening. Fucking shit, this was the exact same scene he's read in those books about the heroine getting saved by the mysterious man who'd later on be her sexy enemy/lover. FUCK!
Phantom goes back to speak, but all Jason heard were a couple of trills and chirps, a language he couldn't understand but... It felt familiar.

The Wrong Robin Au (part five)
Previous | Master Post | Next
Danny sat back with a wince, watching as Bruce and his butler (The man introduced himself as Alfred) collected themselves. Jason's book was now sitting on a shelf, displayed for everyone to see. Bruce's desk was moved back into place, and the chairs were repositioned. There wasn't any evidence of what had just occurred.
"would you like me to get you a rag, young sir?" Alfred asked, turning to glance at Danny with a raised brow.
Danny lifted his hand and gently touched his nose, hissing when it stung and throbbed. Pulling his hand back, Danny found his fingers covered in blood.
Well, that was going to be hard to explain later...
"yeah, thanks." Danny finally agreed, moving his hand back to hopefully keep more of his blood from staining his hoodie. His ectoplasm was just begging him to heal it, but he held back, watching as Bruce turned to face him.
The man was no longer crying his little emo furry heart out or blinded with rage. Instead, he was standing still with a calculative gleam in his eyes. Danny just knew the man was going to do a background check as soon as Danny left. (Or when Danny wasn't paying attention, he was Batman after all. Who knows what he was going to do?)
It's a good thing there was nothing that connected him with Phantom. Besides the drop in grades and convenient absences, but that can be excused by the trauma of his accident and all the ghost fights. Otherwise, Danny would be screwed.
No one besides Jazz and Wes has been able to figure it out, and he'd like to keep it that way, thank you very much. He's retired now, or well, was retired. He might be getting back into the crime-fighting part again, but he was going to do everything in his power to keep from getting pulled back into ghost-fighting and dealing with the occult every day.
He could handle following Batman around at night and punching a few goons here and there, but the ghost fights? The world ending catastrophes? The annoying cult summoning? He didn't think he could handle it again. And sure, if there was no other option he would go out and protect the world. (It would be very shitty of him not to if he could do something when no one else could. He lived here too, you know.)
But that's not his job anymore. No, that's what the Justice League is for. (was for... He had forgiven them for not being there for him when it mattered. They were here now. So it was fine. No, it wasn't) They're the ones who are protecting Earth now. They're the ones who have to drop everything and help save the world. Not him. Not anymore.
Maybe he could think of this as a really shitty vacation? Then once he's sure Batman is stable and that Tim won't do something stupid, Danny could go back to Amity and figure out what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. Maybe he could even go to college?
"Why are you here?" Bruce asked, his calculated eyes still boring into Danny's head. Danny, having gotten used to ghosts popping up and speaking to him at all hours of the day, didn't flinch as he glanced back up at Bruce.
"To keep you from killing yourself, seriously dude. Did you not hear when I told you earlier?" Danny spat, pointedly wiping the blood off his chin.
Bruce barely even moved, but Danny could tell he had winced. Sensing people's emotions was going to become one of the more useful powers he had, wasn't it?
...
How long was his nose going to bleed, again? Didn't broken noses stop bleeding after a few minutes?
His core flared in annoyance, finally making him remember a very important fact.
He was half dead. As in his body doesn't heal or change without the influence of his ectoplasm. This means he's going to keep bleeding until he either doesn't have any blood to bleed or he lets his ectoplasm heal it.
Great.
That's not going to make Bruce suspicious at all. Nope. Definitely not.
Focusing on his nose, Danny let his ectoplasm rush to the area and start healing it, but held it back before it could do more than stop the bleeding.
Alfred entered the room not even a second later, "here you go, young sir. Just hold it there for a minute while I prepare my med kit."
Danny grabbed the rag handed to him and pressed it to his nose, ignoring the sharp pain. He watched as Alfred placed his med kit on the side table and started digging through it. After a few minutes, Alfred leaned back and pulled on some gloves.
"let me have a look," he demanded, turning to kneel in front of Danny. Danny sighed, removed the rag, and leaned forward to let Alfred get a closer look. The man clicked his tongue, but gently grabbed his face and studied the injury.
Bruce shuffled awkwardly in the background, looking like a child waiting to get scolded. Good. He was a grown-ass man for crying out loud, he should get scolded for breaking Danny's nose.
"Alright, this will hurt," Alfred said, moving his hands to gently rest next to Danny's nose. Danny, having dealt with many broken noses before, looked away from the older man and stared Bruce dead in the eyes.
With sure but quick movements, Alfred straightened his nose with a loud crunch. Bruce's eyes narrowed as Danny bit his tongue, keeping any other sign of pain to himself.
"There," Alfred sighed, "it was a clean break, so you'll only have to keep some gause on it until you go to the doctor. Master Bruce?"
Bruce grunted, before finally looking over to his butler. "I'm fine, Alfred."
"good," Alfred nodded, "then I shall put on some tea. In the meantime, I recommend you two have a civil conversation."
Danny leaned back, taking the wet rag Alfred handed to him, and cleaned his face. Now that his nose looked normal, Danny allowed his ectoplasm to start healing it. He didn't plan on seeing Bruce again anytime soon, so any bruises or swelling he should have, won't matter.
Alfred finished placing his medical supplies away and held his hand out for the rags, once Danny gave them to him, the man swiftly left the room. bruce will probably want to test his blood later now that Danny thinks about it. Well, that's definitely something Batman would do, Danny thinks.
Oh well, it's not like his blood would reveal anything. It's literally just his human blood. Now if he was bleeding as Phantom? This would be a whole other problem.
"Who are you and how do you know who I am?" Bruce grunts, stepping closer to Danny in an attempt to be intimidating. And it would have been if Danny hadn't just watched the man breakdown ugly crying not even thirty minutes ago.
Rolling his eyes, Danny leaned back in his chair and huffed, "I told you this already. My name's Danny. I'm here to keep you from killing yourself. And it's pretty obvious who you are if you just think about it." Because it was obvious. Once Tim pointed it out to him, that is.
He wasn't about to just tell Batman that though, Tim didn't deserve to have the man breathing down his neck just for being smart enough to figure it out.
Before Bruce could respond, Danny's phone rang once, twice, then stopped. Glancing at the clock, Danny found it was only six. This meant, it was either Sam texting him to figure out where he was (which wasn't likely, since he usually disappeared in the mornings) or it was Tim.
Grabbing his phone, Danny unlocked it and was met with a message from Tim.
TIM: thanks for listening to me.
Before Danny could send a response, another text came through.
TIM: when did you want to meet up and discuss a plan? DANNY: tomorrow, after you get some sleep. TIM: I did! I took a nap! DANNY: not a long one. TIM: I'm not tired though! DANNY: Then pretend to sleep or something, I don't care. Could you just make sure you sleep before I text you tomorrow? please, kid? TIM: whatever. you're not even that much older than me, you know that right? Danny: sure kid.
"Who is that?" Bruce suddenly asks, making Danny glance up at him.
Shit, uh... "The kid I'm babysitting later."
You know what? That works. And it's technically true.
Bruce just hummed, allowing Danny to turn back to his phone.
TIM: I'm thirteen! DANNY: Yeah? Well, I'm seventeen, almost eighteen. Anyone under the age of fifteen is a literal baby. which makes you? that's right. a child. and what do children need? Sleep. They need sleep, Tim. TIM: I'm not a child! and if you've forgotten; I still have all the evidence proving that you're Robin. I'm petty enough to release it. DANNY: Go ahead. If it'll make you sleep at night.
Tim left him on read after not responding for a few minutes. Bruce had wandered over to his desk to work on something, probably Danny's background check.
Sighing, Danny sent a text to Sam letting her know he'd be busy for the rest of the morning and to let Tucker know. Once that was done, he shoved his phone into his pocket and stood up. Bruce glanced at him for a moment before going back to what he was doing, leaving Danny to look around the office.
Pictures were hanging on the wall, books covering the shelves, and random objects covering everything else. Basically, Bruce's office was filled with all sorts of things. Things that could give Danny an idea of who Bruce was as a person. Something he was going to need to know if he planned to stick around and help him. which he was. because he'd promised Tim that he would.
Reaching out, Danny picked up one of the photos and examined it. It was Bruce, Alfred, and some boy Danny didn't recognize, though they looked eerily like him. They could even pass as his clone if you squinted.
"Hey, Bruce," Danny started, "Who's this?"

DP x DC: Let’s talk about the ghost of Gary Lester
You know, if the ghosts are still following around John Constantine, Danny Fenton would fucking hate the guy
Danny Phantom is a kids show, the morality of it is a lot simpler than the very dingy grey that Hellblazer is painted with. Sure Danny has moments where he has to learn to not use his powers for selfish gains, but let’s talk about the ghost of Gary Lester aka Gaz
Spoilers for issues 1 and 2 of Hellblazer, that’s right we’re going back to the beginning.
A little background on Gaz: childhood friend of John’s, dropped out of art school and started Mucus Membrane with John and becoming part of the “Newcastle crew” before the events at the Casanova club which he was present for. Sometime during the 80’s he became a heroin addict before the events of 88 that resulted in his death
Now what killed Gaz? Short answer is John. Longer answer is Gary accidentally unleashed an “African hunger spirit” on New York by deciding to ship a glass bottle with the thing trapped in it to John’s apartment in New York, resulting in it getting smashed in transport unleashing a threat of mass possession on one of the largest population centers in the world, a spirit that would consume its many many hosts resulting in the potential death of MILLIONS
John, putting the needs of the many ahead of the needs of the few, enlisted the help of Papa Midnight to trap the spirit in Gaz.
The sprit devoured Gaz from the inside, a process that lasted hours and hours of screaming before Gaz was devoured and the spirit devoured itself
Meanwhile John stayed by the entire time, there for every painful moment until the end. He did that, and he did that to his friend. There was a hell of a good reason for it, but he still did that to his friend
Yet John stayed the entire time
Gaz then joined the ghosts the followed John, becoming a reoccurring symbol for the price John’s friends pay
People around John get hurt, and it’s often his fault
And I think that’s what the truly interesting thing about Danny vs John. They both try to do good but others tend to pay the price for John. Meanwhile Danny would sacrifice himself long before sacrificing his friends. Danny hasn’t had to deal with quite the same moral choices John has, and I don’t think canon Danny is really at a place where he could understand what it’s like to make those choices
An older more mature Danny might, a very traumatized Danny might or might not, but base Danny would be unable to understand sacrificing his friend at all. Did it save millions of people? yes, but Danny is not the person that has had to make that difficult choice
And so literally learning this from the ghost that embodies John making that very choice would not endear John to Danny

Sew Me Up and Keep Me Whole
fanfiction
ao3
word count: 7603
Thanks to seeing how various injuries are treated as a member of the football team, Dash actually has a decent background in first aid and anatomy. He gets adopted into Team Phantom when circumstances keep leading him to be the one patching up Phantom after fights.
ohohohhoho
Dash was walking home after a football game. He was exhausted and was looking forward to going to bed tonight. Plus there was a ghost attack at the end of the game so it ran extra long while they waited for it to be over.
He turned into the park. It was dark in the park, but it made his trip home from the school faster. His dad would be even madder if he woke him up this late. He wanted to get back as soon as possible.
He got to the wooded part of the trees when he heard something. It sounded like voices.
“Tucker, you’re not doing it right.” Somebody whispered angrily. It sounded like Manson.
“Do you want to try doing this?” He hissed back. “I’m the only one who’s taken a sewing class. You didn’t think you should be reduced to something so ‘stereotypically feminine.’”
“-’s not ev’n a fem’n’n thing.” Was that Fenton? “Sewing is a b-basic life skill…”
“That’s not the point!” She hissed back at them. “My mom-”
Dash stepped through the bushes and past the tree separating them and fell short. That wasn’t who he was expecting to be there.
Phantom sat in between Foley and Manson, not Fenton. As he stepped through the bushes their heads snapped up to look at him. Phantom’s head groggily lulled to the side as he looked at Dash.
“Ha. Jus...what we need.”
Dash frowned. What?”
Phantom chuckled and closed his eyes.
“No! Don’t close your eyes!” Manson lightly slapped him. When he just groaned and leaned his head back against the tree behind him she slapped him harder.
“...Sam!” He pried his eyes open and glared at her. “Don’ hit m’..”
“You can’t fall asleep until Tucker is done with your stitches. If only he could just hurry it up.” Manson ground out.
“I’m going as fast as I can!” Tucker breathed out, his hand shakily pulling another stitch through Phantom’s injury. “I don’t want to leave an ugly scar or make it worse by not doing it well.”
Dash stepped closer to where they were sat behind the bushes. Manson shot another look at him. He could finally see Phantom’s wound and it was pretty gnarly. Foley’s stitches were holding it closed but they definitely weren’t pretty.
“Do you need help?” Dash asked apprehensively. “I’ve seen a lot of injuries during football practice. And I’m not squeamish like you, Foley.”
“Yeah? You know how to sew up wounds?” Manson spit out. “How is watching people get treated for wounds during practice the same as sewing up an injury?”
Dash held up his hands. “It seems like Foley doesn’t know what he’s doing either. I know how to sew already. Isn’t that like halfway there?”
Foley looked at Manson. “If he can get it done faster than me, why not let him? We’re gonna run out of time.”
“How can we trust him?” Manson glanced at Dash, worrying her lip.
“He is literally Phantom’s biggest fan except for maybe Paulina. Do you really think he’s gonna try to kill him?”
A blush rose to Dash’s cheeks at Foley’s comment while Manson kept studying him.
A few more moments went by before she looked back at Phantom. He smiled at her groggily.
She sighed. “Fine. Dash, get over here.”
His eyes widened, stunned that they actually accepted his help. He strode forward and knelt on the ground between Foley and Manson. Phantom looked up at him, the goofy smile still on his face.
“Funny that y’ur the one h’lping me.” He chuckled.
“Why’s that?” Dash asked. Phantom just shook his head and chuckled again.
“Here.” Foley handed him a pair of gloves. “We don’t know if his ectoplasm can irritate or damage skin. We haven't felt risky enough to try it out yet.”
“How often do you guys do this?” Dash snapped his gloves on and took the needle from Foley. Phantom smiled wistfully.
“I get hurt a lot.”
Dash hummed as he made his first stitch. “Well that’s not good.”
“Yeahh.. ghosts suck. And also bullies. They can hurt pretty bad sometimes too.”
Shame wriggled into Dash’s stomach as he made another stitch. What would Phantom think of him if he knew he was a bully himself?
Phantom hummed a wistful sigh as he watched Dash sew his wound closed.
“Y’know, ‘ur pretty cute.”
Dash’s brain stopped for a moment and spent a second processing what Phantom said. He felt like he was short circuiting.
“What?” Dash asked.
Tucker burst out laughing. “Man, you’re not gonna live this one down.” Sam shushed him.
Dash continued sewing Phantom’s wound closed as he tried to get his bearings. He never would’ve thought his hero would think of him like that.
“So.” He said, pulling the thread tight. “Are you guys friends?”
“We’r’ bes frie-” Sam covered his mouth.
“We help him with ghost fights. We don’t know him that well.”
“Oh. It just seemed like you guys are pretty close. He must trust you two a lot.”
Dash finished up his last stitch. “There we go. You’re all closed up.”
Phantom smiled at him again as Dash pulled off his gloves and put them in a bag Tucker held up to him. “Tha’ was s’much faster than Tucker.”
“Much cleaner stitches, too.” Sam said, leaning down to look at them.
“‘Thank you for trying, Tucker. We’re so grateful for you, Tucker.’” He mumbled out as he put all their supplies back in his bag.
“C’mon, Tuck!” Phantom lulled his head in Tucker’s direction. “You’ve stitched up so… so many stitches before now. I’d’d have bled out so many times over with-without you.”
“Thank you, D- Phantom.”
Dash pushed himself up off the ground and stretched. “Do you guys need help getting him back… Wherever he needs to go?”
“We can take him back to my house.” Sam stood up. “My parents are those people who go to bed at eight o’clock and get up at some ungodly hour for their office jobs.”
“Can you stand, Phantom?” Tucker asked him.
Phantom shakily tried to stand up. He only made it up part way before he fell back to his knees.
“Here.”
Dash bent down and picked Phantom up bridal style. He adjusted his hold on him until he was holding him comfortably.
“Okay.” Dash turned to look at Sam. “Lead the way.”
He followed behind Sam and Tucker as they walked through the trees. Phantom was much heavier than what Dash would expect from a ghost. He figured ghosts would be light as a feather since they could fly, but Phantom felt so much like a human it was uncanny.
Phantom leaned his head back into the crook of Dash’s neck. He took a sharp breath in as he felt Phantom’s breath ghost against his neck.
Dash looked down at Phantom and his eyes were closed, but after a few moments of Dash staring Phantom peeked an eye open.
He jumped and looked back up at Sam and Tucker. They were whispering between themselves, shooting glances back at Dash. Phantom chuckled.
“Thank you for helping us.”
Dash looked back down at him. Phantom already seemed to be more coherent than when Dash first stumbled upon them.
“Of course. You should probably thank your friends for letting me help you. They were pretty skeptical at first.”
Phantom shrugged. “They’re just looking out for me. They’re protective.”
“So you are friends?” Dash asked. Phantom looked at Sam and Tucker.
“Yeah. They’re the best friends I could’ve asked for.”
“Are you friends with the Fenton kid too?” Dash asked.
Phantom turned to look at Dash sharply. “The Fenton kid?”
“Yeah.” Dash nodded. “Danny. Hangs around with those two. Kind of a freak.”
Phantom frowned at him and turned away from him. “Oh. The ghost hunter’s son? No. Why would I be friends with him? His parents would tear me apart.”
“Oh. Yeah that’s true. Those three just never go anywhere without each other so I thought maybe he was in on this too. He’s a dork anyways.”
“We’re here.” Sam called behind them.
Dash looked up to see Sam and Tucker stopped in front of a set of stairs leading to Sam’s front door. Phantom suddenly jumped out of Dash’s arms and winced once his feet hit the ground. It set Dash off balance and it took a moment for him to regain it.
Phantom walked over to where Sam and Tucker were waiting.
“Will you be okay?” Dash called to him.
“Yeah.” Phantom said without looking back at him. “I’ll be fine.”
He walked away from Dash without looking back at him. The three of them walked inside the door and shut it behind them.
He stood there and stared at the closed door. A pit formed in his stomach but he’s not sure what happened.
He turned around and started the short trek home.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dash was walking in the hallways of Casper High. He was heading to his next class. He just wanted this day to be over with.
Up ahead of him he saw Fenton and his friends. He smirked and started walking faster to catch up with them.
“Hey, Fentoadally lame! Where do you think you’re going!”
He saw Fenton’s shoulders rise and fall as he sighed. He looked over his shoulder at Dash, an angry grimace on his face.
“Anywhere away from you.”
The hallways were starting to clear out as it got closer to the bell. He caught up to them and grabbed Danny by the shoulder, turning him around and slamming him into the lockers to their left. He glared up at Dash.
“What do you want, Dash?”
Dash sneered down at him. “I want to get my afternoon wailing in before I lose my chance and you disappear for the rest of the day like you did yesterday.”
Danny rolled his eyes. “And why does your wailing have to be on me?”
“Because you’re my favorite nerd to wail on.” Dash said as he pulled his arm back, ready to hit Danny.
“Excuse me!”
Something hit Dash in the back of the head. He hissed and when he turned around he saw Sam holding her boot in her hand, glaring at him.
“What the hell, Manson?” He rubbed the spot she had hit. “What’s that boot made of?”
“Steel toe.” Tucker said from where he stood, far away from the action.
“How’s it feel, Dash? Huh? Do you like getting hit? Do you want to know what it’s like to get beat up for no reason every single day?” Sam spat at him.
He took a step away from her. He already knew what that was like. He didn’t need to know what it would be like, just from a different person.
“Sam-” Danny tried stepping out from behind Dash to get to her but there wasn’t enough room for him to move.
“Why should we let you keep helping us with Phantom if we can’t trust you to leave our friend alone?”
“What?” Dash asked, incredulous. “How are either of these things related?”
Sam walked up to him and poked him in the chest. Distantly Dash could hear the late bell ringing. “Because how do we know you wouldn’t turn on Phantom? That if we relied on you, that you would actually be there to help him?”
“But Phantom is-”
“A person, just like Danny.” Sam said. “Just because Danny isn’t your ‘hero’ doesn’t mean he deserves to be a punching bag.”
Dash rolled his eyes. “Fenton just asks for it.”
Sam closed her eyes and shook her head.
“No, you know what? We won’t need your help anymore, Dash. We were doing just fine without you. We’ll manage.”
“I didn’t want to have to associate with you nerds anymore than I have to anyways.” Dash tried to ignore the pang in his chest at the idea of not being able to help Phantom anymore.
“You know, I’ve heard that Phantom doesn’t like bullies.” Fenton said from behind him.
Dash turned and frowned at him. “What do you know?” He shoved Fenton into the lockers one more time and walked away from them. He could hear Sam furiously whispering with Danny about something but Dash tried to tune it out.
Where did Manson get off threatening to beat him? That’d just make her a hypocrite, wouldn’t it? Doing the very thing she hates?
Whatever. It didn’t matter. She couldn’t make it so Phantom couldn’t talk to him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Hey, I’ll see you later, Kwan!” Dash said as he walked out of the Nasty Burger. Kwan turned around where he was walking the opposite way down the sidewalk.
“Yeah! See you tomorrow, buddy!” Kwan shouted back at him.
Dash smiled as he started his walk home. Kwan was always pretty good at cheering him up. He’d had a pretty bad week. Every time he’d gone to Phantom to try to talk to him he’d up and disappear or fly away before Dash could even get a word in. Sam and Tucker must’ve said something to him about what happened with Fenton.
He sighed. He’d probably never get to talk to Phantom again at this rate.
He heard some rustling coming from the alley he was coming up on. He paused just before it. Nothing good ever came from inside alleyways.
“Tucker, where are you- Danny, he-”
He could hear Manson’s panicked voice coming from inside the alley. He crept forward.
Dash looked into the alley to see Sam desperately talking on the phone. Phantom sat on the ground in front of her. She was holding a rag to his stomach.
“No, no I already have the supplies. I can’t-”
A tear streamed down her face. “Tucker, I need you. I can’t do this without you.”
Phantom’s eyes slowly opened. He tilted his head towards the end of the alley that Dash was standing in. He locked eyes with him, taking a deep breath.
“Sam..”
She looked up at him. When she saw where he was looking, she followed his gaze until her eyes landed on Dash. Her eyes widened. After a few moments of staring, she put her phone back up to her ear.
“No, Dash- Dash is here. He just walked up. He- He could probably help us again. Just one more time.”
Dash jumped. How serious was it this time that she couldn’t wait for Tucker?
“Dash, get over here!”
He jumped again at her call, but ran to them inside the alley.
“Can you stitch him up again?” She pleaded. “I know what I said, but I-”
“It’s fine.” Dash said. “I’m not that petty that I’ll refuse to save his life just because you don’t like me.”
She pulled a first aid kit out of her backpack and handed it to him. “You’re mean to me and my friends. I don’t want to be around you if you’re going to bully us.”
“Tch.” Dash scoffed. He pulled on a pair of gloves. “As if you aren’t just as mean to us. You go around antagonizing Paulina and forcing things that you want to do on other people.”
She rolled her eyes. “You literally beat people up and stuff them into their lockers. That is not the same thing.”
“Yeah, well-”
“As much as I love watching Sam tell it to you, can you guys hurry it up?”
Dash and Sam looked at Phantom. He had one eye squinted open and he was looking between them.
“Sorry.” Dash said. He threaded the needle and got started stitching up Phantom’s wound.
They were silent while Dash worked. His stitches were quick and soon Dash was done. He sighed.
“I actually used to be friends with them when we were younger. Before they met you.”
“What?” Sam turned to stare at him. “Why are you so mean to them then?”
“My parents didn’t like Fenton’s parents. Or all the nonsense they were spouting about ghosts. I’d come home and tell them all about it and they thought the Fenton’s were ‘corrupting my mind’ or something like that.”
Phantom turned his head to look at Dash.
“My parents told me I couldn’t be his friend anymore. And I told Danny that, but he didn’t get it. And he and Tucker were a package deal at that point. They were more inseparable than me and Danny had ever been. So I just… told them that I didn’t want to be their friend anymore. That they weren’t cool enough. I think I hit one of them. They didn’t go out of their way to talk to me after that.”
They sat in silence for a moment after that.
“Parents, amiright?” Sam said quietly, as she looked at Phantom. “My parents are like that. They try to get me to stop being friends with Danny all the time but I argue too much with them for it to ever stick. Or I don’t tell them when I’m hanging out with Danny.”
“At least you have that luxury.” Dash looked at the ground. “If I don’t listen to my parents… Well, they like to use their fists more than their words.”
Sam covered her mouth.
Dash let out a short laugh.
“And now ghosts are real and they keep asking me all sorts of questions like they expect me to remember the things they told me were bad and wanted me to forget.”
Dash was startled when he felt a hand on his arm. He looked up and saw that Phantom was still staring at him.
“It’s not your fault.”
Dash shook his head and squeezed his eyes shut. He shifted so that instead of kneeling on his knees, he was sitting on the ground. He ran his hands through his hair roughly.
“It is my fault!” Dash ground out. “I didn’t have to treat them the way I did! I could’ve broken the cycle but now I’m just like my parents.”
“You don’t have to be.” Sam said. “There’s always time to change. Hell, admitting to how shitty you’ve been is a pretty good start.”
Dash sighed. Phantom looked like he was about to say something but he was interrupted by Tucker sprinting into the alley, out of breath.
“I’m here! I’m here. Did you guys get it figured out?”
Sam nodded and gestured at Dash. “He helped us out again. He really came in clutch there.”
Dash nodded and stood up. “I guess I should get going now. I don’t want to-”
“Wait!” Sam held her hands up in a stop motion. She stood up to look at him. “Do you want to join team Phantom?”
“What?” Tucker looked at her, shocked. “Why are you asking Dash to join the team? I thought you-”
“Clearly having another person around will be beneficial.” Sam interrupted Tucker without looking at him. “You’ve already helped us twice. You could even teach us to sew and stitch up wounds better.”
Dash looked between the three of them. He wasn’t a part of whatever they had going. Would they really be okay with him joining their team? Did they really want him to be a part of it? Or was it just a pity offer?
“Why would you want me to join your team?” Dash said quietly.
“You care more than I thought you did.” Sam said.
Dash laughed. That didn’t seem like a very concrete reason.
“Break the cycle.”
Dash looked back up at where Phantom still sat on the ground. He was staring at Dash.
“Break the cycle.” He said again. “Prove that you can be better. If not for us, just do it for yourself.”
Dash looked away. He nodded. That sounded like a good reason. Work to break the cycle his parents put him in. He nodded again.
“Okay. I’ll do it. I’ll join Team Phantom.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dash stood outside Tucker’s door awkwardly. Tucker said now would be a good time to come over so they could practice sewing. He hasn’t knocked yet though. He hadn’t been back here since they were all still friends.
He lifted his hand up and paused for a moment. Finally, he brought his fist down on the door and knocked twice.
“I’ve got it!” Tucker shouted from inside the house. He heard some shuffling and then a muffled, “Mom!”
Then the door opened, but instead of Tucker it was his mom. His eyes widened as her mouth dropped open. She looked behind her where Tucker was standing and then looked back at Dash. Tucker shrugged behind her.
“Why, Dash, I haven’t seen you in such a long time. How have you been?” She asked him.
He nodded. “Good, good. Things have been fine. How have you been?”
“Things have been good here.” She looked between Tucker and Dash again. “What brings you over after so long?”
“I, uh..” Dash stammered. They didn’t come up with an excuse. He really couldn’t tell her they were practicing sewing so they could sew up wounds.
“Class project!” Sam’s voice came from down the steps behind him. He turned to see her hurrying up the stairs. “We’re going to be working on our sewing today for class. Dash is going to practice with us.”
“Ohh.” Tucker’s mom nodded. “Well that sounds fun. Do you guys have any projects in the making?”
“We’re not quite there yet, mom.” Tucker said as he stepped forward. “We’re still learning so we’ll probably just be sewing squares of fabric together.”
She nodded again. “Let me know if you kids have any questions. I know a thing or two about sewing myself.” She smiled at them.
“Thanks, mom. We will.” Tucker waved them into the house and then closed the door behind them once they were both inside. “Come on, let’s go upstairs.”
He followed behind both Tucker and Sam as they made their way up the stairs. He hadn’t been here in a very long time but little had changed over the years. Except for maybe new photos that had been hung up on the wall.
They reached the top of the stairs and then Tucker pulled down the attic door and unfolded the ladder. They climbed up there and Dash had the fleeting thought that if they wanted to make him disappear, an attic would be a pretty good place to make that happen.
“Boo.”
Dash jumped as a voice spoke close into his ear and then laughter erupted from an invisible mouth.
“Oh that was good. I haven’t been able to get Sam or Tucker that good in a long time.”
Phantom dropped his invisibility and appeared in front of Dash. Dash chuckled nervously.
“Phantom, don’t be too mean to him. We’re trying to make amends, remember?” Sam called to them while she and Tucker dug through some box.
“Yeah, yeah.” Phantom waved her comment off. He looked back at Dash. “I gotta have fun with this whole ghost thing somehow though, right?”
Dash nodded. “I can’t say I would be so chivalrous if I had your powers. I’d probably be sneaking into the girl’s locker room or something.”
“Eh. It was exciting the first couple times but now the novelty has worn off.”
Dash’s eyes widened. Phantom went to spy in the girl’s locker room?
“Anyways.” Phantom drawled out. “What will I be doing today?”
Dash stared at him. “You’ll also be learning to sew.”
Phantom frowned. “Why?”
“If Sam or Tucker, or even me, ever get hurt during one of your ghost fights it might be useful for you to know. Or if you ever have an occasion where you’re alone and need to do it yourself, if you’re able to of course.”
“Are you gonna be like, our teacher?” Sam asked Dash.
Dash shrugged. “I can explain the basics but this is mostly just practice time.”
They got to work practicing their sewing. Sam and Tucker were working together on the other side of the attic while Dash worked with Phantom. They had cut up squares of fabric that they were sewing together. Phantom looked up at Dash as he pulled a thread through his two pieces he had in his hands.
“Why’d you learn to sew?” Danny asked. “It’s not something most guys pick up.”
Dash shrugged. “My parents liked to wreck a lot of my things growing up. They destroyed a lot of stuffed animals, but when they ripped apart the last teddy bear I got from my grandma before she passed away I decided I was going to take it into my own hands and fix it.”
“Oh.” Phantom’s shoulders dropped and he looked at Dash sadly. “I’m sorry they did that.”
“They’re not good people.” Dash made a couple more stitches on his own squares in his hands. “It hurt when I realized that.”
Phantom nodded. “Sometimes I worry that my parents are bad people. They want to hurt me but I know they’re not actually bad.”
“How are they not bad? You just said they want to hurt you.” Dash frowned at him.
“It’s more complicated because of the whole ghost thing.” Phantom shook his head. “They don’t know who I am.”
Dash’s eyes widened. “What? How can they not know?”
Phantom’s sad expression turned into a smirk. “I’ve got to keep some of my secrets.”
Dash rolled his eyes. “Okay, Inviso-bill.”
“Hey!” Phantom pushed his shoulder.
His skin tingled where Phantom had touched him through his jacket. They smiled at each other and Dash looked back down at the fabric in his hands. They worked for another couple moments before Phantom spoke again.
“What if we sewed them all together?”
“What?” Dash looked back up at him.
“The squares.” Phantom held up his small pile he had gathered while they were working. “We could sew all the squares we make together and turn them into a blanket.”
“Ohh. That’d be cool.” He turned around in his seat. “Yo, Manson. Foley!”
They turned around to face him. “What?”
“Phantom wants to turn our squares into blankets.”
“I like that idea.” Tucker said.
“Does your mom have a sewing machine? It might be easier to sew all the rows together with the sewing machine once we get that far.”
Tucker nodded. “Let me go ask her for it.”
He headed downstairs. Sam stood up and walked over to them.
“How’s your practice going?” She asked.
“Good.” Phantom held up his work so far. The stitches were getting neater and tighter as he showed Sam his progress.
As Dash was showing Sam his own squares, Tucker made his way back up the ladder to the attic. He hefted the sewing machine up onto the floor and climbed up with some extra fabric and some kind of stuffing. He let out a breath.
“My mom gave us some fabric and some quilt batting so we can finish turning it into a blanket.”
“How do we decide who gets to keep the blanket?” Dash asked.
Phantom looked at him. “I think you should get it. We can always make more if we’re going to keep practicing sewing. You should get the first one.”
“Yeah.” Sam said. “It can be a thank you for taking the time to teach us and practice with us.”
“Let’s get this bad boy finished.”
They spent the next couple hours practicing sewing the squares by hand and once they were all sewed together Dash took them to the sewing machine. They got all the rows assembled and the blanket put together with the stuffing inside. Dash stood up and held it up for everyone to look at.
Tucker clapped. “Great work everyone. Just, wow.”
Sam rolled her eyes.
Dash lowered it and smiled at them.
“Here.”
Phantom floated forward and grabbed the other end of the blanket and helped Dash fold it. Their fingers met as they folded it together. Phantom passed his end to Dash and their fingers grazed as he pulled away.
“Thanks.” They stared at each other for a few moments. Dash cleared his throat. “Well. I should get going. It’s getting kind of late.”
“Yeah. Me too.” Sam checked the time on her phone. My parents are gonna start calling me if I don’t get home soon.”
“Thanks for helping us out Dash.” Phantom called as Dash started making his way down the ladder. Dash smiled at him.
“Thanks for giving me the chance.”
~~~~~~~~~~~
Dash stepped out of the school. It was empty in the schoolyard. Dash had had to stay late to finish up a test with one of his teachers.
“Hey.”
Dash jumped at the voice beside him. Phantom flickered into visibility.
“Why do you keep doing that?” Dash pouted.
Phantom shrugged and held his head in his hand as he floated next to Dash. “It’s funny. Like I said, I can’t get Sam and Tucker like that anymore.”
“Where are they anyways?” Dash crossed the street in front of the school and started the walk home.
“They’re busy.” Phantom groaned and flipped onto his back midair. “They had some very important stuff to do and they said I couldn’t come with them.”
“So tragic.” Dash smiled and shook his head at Phantom’s antics.
Phantom laughed as he floated backwards on his back beside Dash, his arms crossed behind his head. Dash smiled as he watched him, a warm feeling growing in his chest. Phantom’s smile felt like the sun.
“I think they’re trying to surprise me for my birthday. It’s coming up soon.”
Dash’s eyes widened. “You still celebrate your birthday?”
Phantom shot a look back at him. “Yeah? Don’t you still celebrate yours?”
“Yeah, but you’re a ghost. Wouldn’t you celebrate your death day instead?”
Phantom scrunched up his nose and stared at a point from where they had come. “I try as hard as I can to not think about my death day. It was painful.”
“What was it like? Dying?”
Phantom turned to face Dash. He studied his face for a moment before he spoke.
“I-”
A roar sounded from ahead of them on the street they were walking down. A ghost turned around the corner of a building and stared down at them.
“Stay back.” Phantom said to him and flew away. He flew circles around the ghost's head and soon it was facing back the other way. It roared when Phantom shot an ectoblast between its eyes.
It swung at him again and again, its slow paws trying and trying to hit Phantom.
“You sure are slow!” Phantom smirked at the ghost and spun onto his back. “You fight like my sister.”
The ghost roared again and Phantom flew back to avoid the swipe but he didn’t move fast enough.
The ghost scratched Phantom across the chest as he flew back. Dash could hear him hiss from where he stood on the ground.
“That’s all you got, ghost?” Phantom held his fists back up.
As if taking that as a challenge, the ghost shrieked. It reared up for another hit. Phantom dodged the first one but wasn’t so lucky the second time.
When the ghost’s claws connected with Phantom, Dash could hear the sound of his suit ripping. The ghost spun and sent him flying backwards down the street.
“Phantom!” Dash shouted as he turned to look where Phantom had been thrown behind him.
He laid there on the ground. He was hardly moving. The ghost started closing in, not paying any mind to Dash.
“Hey!” Dash swung his arms in the air, trying to get the ghost’s attention. It finally looked down at him and paused.
“Yeah! Leave him alone!” Dash shouted. He stuck a hand into his backpack and pulled out that lipstick laser that Tucker gave him. He aimed it at the ghost and took a shaky shot.
It hit the ghost in the chest and it roared, charging at him. Dash took a step back but he yanked his backpack off, desperately digging out the thermos. He shakily pulled it out of his backpack just as the ghost was getting to him and he pressed the button.
The ghost loomed over him before it got sucked into the thermos. Once it was gone, Dash closed his eyes and let out a deep breath. Then his eyes snapped back open and he turned around.
Phantom.
He ran down the street to where Phantom lay. Phantom’s eyes opened as Dash got closer. Thank god.
“Hey. How bad is it?” Dash asked as he dropped down to his knees on the pavement.
Phantom hissed as he sat up. “Not the worst I’ve ever had. I’m not sure any of these need stitches.”
“Are you sure?” Dash studied his suit where it was torn. “I could literally hear your suit get shredded from where I was standing.”
“Yeah.” Phantom nodded. “I think a good chunk of things I need to have stitched up are because I kept fighting and tore them and made them worse.” He looked up at Dash. “Thanks, by the way. For helping me with that ghost.”
“Whaat? It was nothing.” Dash smiled at him.
Phantom laughed. “I could see you shaking in your boots from here.”
Dash crossed his arms and turned his nose up away from Phantom. “Fighting ghosts is a lot scarier without fancy ghost powers.”
“Yeah, but really, thanks.”
Dash looked back at Phantom. He couldn’t help it. It was the first thing he could think to do. He wasn’t going to just let a ghost get him when he couldn’t fight.
Dash was lost in thought for a moment before his mind wandered back to Phantom’s injury.
“Do you at least want that bandaged even if you don’t need stitches?”
Phantom nodded. “Yeah. It’ll help stop the bleeding.”
Dash dug through his backpack where it sat next to him when he dropped it. He pulled out his first aid kit.
“Gauze or giant band aid?” Dash asked.
Phantom looked down at his chest where the scratches were. He thought for a moment.
“Probably gauze. I think these are too long for a giant bandaid.”
Dash nodded. He pulled the gauze out and turned back to Phantom. He blushed.
“What?” Phantom asked.
The thought of Dash asking Phantom to undress was frazzling Dash’s brain. He only had to unzip the top part of his jumpsuit but he’d never seen Phantom in anything besides that before. What would he look like underneath?
“I need, uh, you to unzip the top part of your jumpsuit so I can wrap the gauze around your chest.”
Phantom looked back down at his chest. “Oh.” He unzipped the front of his jumpsuit and pulled his arms out. He looked back up at Dash.
Dash’s blush went all the way up to his ears and he tried not to stare but he couldn’t help it. Phantom’s skin was so different from other ghosts. He was so much more human-like than them.
Phantom held his hand out for Dash and he looked back up to his face.
“I can do this if it’s too weird for you.”
“It’s not weird!” Dash blurted out. “I just, uh- I don’t-”
Phantom grabbed the gauze out of Dash’s hand and started wrapping it around his chest. “That’s okay. Sam was kind of awkward the first time she had to do this too.”
Dash nodded, but he was disappointed. This could’ve been an opportunity to get close to Phantom. To maybe graze a hand against his skin. Feel what a ghosts skin would-
“Dash?”
He jumped. “Yeah?”
“I’m all done. Here.” Phantom tossed the roll of gauze back to Dash. He fumbled to catch it and when he did he stowed it back in his first aid kit.
Dash put everything back in his backpack and threw it back on his shoulder. He stood up and waited for Phantom to shove his arms back into his sleeves before he offered his hands to help Phantom up.
Phantom looked at them for a moment before he reached up and grabbed onto Dash’s hands. Dash pulled Phantom to his feet and then they just stared at each other. Dash’s grip on Phantom’s hands tightened. He took a step closer to Phantom but then someone shouted at them.
“Look! It’s Phantom!”
Dash looked up around him and was shocked to see how many people had gathered around them. Where had they all come from? Were they all watching the ghost fight from their homes?
“Phantom, who is this boy? Why is he helping you?”
“Is that your boyfriend?”
“Who would be crazy enough to date a dead person?”
The voices clamored around them and Dash felt like they were pressing in on him. Phantom glanced at him and let go of his hands and instead wrapped an arm around his side.
“Gotta go!”
“Wait, wha-!”
Dash yelped as he was pulled into the air with Phantom as he took off in flight. He’d never flown before. Not even in a plane. He squeezed his eyes shut and wrapped his arm around Phantom’s shoulder. The flight was quick and soon they were touching down on the ground.
Dash peeked an eye open and saw that they were standing in front of his house.
“That was fast.” Dash said, out of breath.
“Yeah.” Phantom smiled at him. “My top speed we’ve clocked so far is a hundred and twelve miles per hour. I can get anywhere in town pretty darn fast.”
“Dang. That’s cool. Kinda scary.”
Phantom smiled. “You get used to it after a while.”
They looked at each other for a moment before Phantom seemed to remember he was still holding onto Dash. He coughed and pulled his hand away and it drifted across Dash’s back, leaving a trail of butterfly inducing tingles.
“Well, I gotta go. I have things to do.”
Dash let out a nervous laugh. “How busy can a ghost possibly be?”
“Like I’ve said, I’ve got to keep some of my secrets.”
Phantom started floating up into the air.
“Aw, come on. We’re not close enough for that yet?” Dash shouted up at him.
He smiled down at Dash. “Not quite. Maybe one day.”
Phantom waved down at Dash and then he flew away. Dash’s heart fluttered and he waved back belatedly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dash was laying in bed. He was ready to go to sleep after such a long day. He could almost fall asleep right now.
He started drifting off but was interrupted a moment later.
Phantom flew through Dash’s bedroom wall and crashed onto his bed. Dash jumped up and stared at the boy that was suddenly next to him.
“Phantom?” Dash exclaimed.
He was curled up on his side next to Dash, holding his stomach.
“I didn’t… I didn’t have anywhere else to go. Tucker is out of town and the far frozen was too far away for this one- ah!” He clenched his stomach again.
“No, no. That’s what I’m here for. That’s why you guys agreed to let me join your team. So that there was someone else there to patch you up.”
Phantom shook his head. “This one’s worse. There’s a chance I’ll-”
A white ring appeared around his waist. Phantom tensed up and groaned before it disappeared again.
“What was that?” Dashed asked, staring.
Phantom shook his head. “You need to start stitching the wound up now. If we wait it’ll start bleeding faster. We can’t-” He tensed up again. Sparks flew around his middle. “We have to hurry.”
At Phantom’s plea, he hurriedly got up and grabbed his first aid kit from under his bed. He kneeled down and Phantom turned to his side to face him.
“Can you uncurl for me? I need to take a look.”
Phantom nodded and slowly pulled his arms away from his stomach. They were covered in ectoplasm. Dash gulped and studied the wound. It was deep. Ectoplasm was steadily oozing out of it. He pulled a pair of gloves on.
“This is pretty deep, what if I can’t-”
“Sewing it shut will help.” Phantom grimaced. “Once the wound is shut my healing abilities will have an easier time mending it.”
Dash nodded. “Okay.”
He took a deep breath and got started. Phantom flinched with every touch of the needle. Dash was halfway done when the ring appeared around his waist again. Phantom struggled to push it away, but it disappeared after a few seconds.
“Phantom.” Dash kept stitching the wound closed. “What’s happening?”
“I can’t keep it back anymore.” Phantom ground out. “When I transform, I’m going to start bleeding much faster. You have to keep stitching me up, no matter what.”
“What? When you transform? What does that-”
The rings appeared around Phantom’s waist a final time. Dash tried to keep his focus on stitching Phantom’s wound, but then the rings split. They revealed a very familiar shirt underneath them.
“I’m sorry.”
The rings finished traveling over the rest of Phantom’s body. Dash’s hands shook as the ectoplasm that was steadily coming out of the wound turned into blood. The pace increased and Dash got a glimpse at Phantom’s face as the rings went over his head and Danny Fenton was left in his place.
Danny met his gaze for a moment and then his eyes fluttered closed.
“Danny?” Dash whispered.
He didn’t move and Dash went back to stitching up the wound. He was almost done and he was hoping this would be enough. That Danny wouldn’t…
He shook his head. He couldn’t think like that. He had already seen the impossible. Danny wouldn’t die. He couldn’t.
He made his last stitch and cut the thread. He grabbed a bag and disposed of everything inside it. He was about to put the first aid kit away when he thought about putting a bandage on top of Danny’s stitches.
He pulled a bandage and some gauze out of the first aid kit and when he turned back around Danny’s eyes were already open, staring at Dash.
“You’re awake already?” Dash whispered. “I wasn’t sure- I was afraid that-”
Danny shook his head. “My healing powers are already working. It just needed help getting started. It can’t heal if it’s still bleeding so much like that.”
Dash let out a deep breath. “I’m glad to hear.”
A pause stretched between them and Dash looked down at his hands and saw the gauze and bandage he was holding. He held them up.
“Do you want these on there too? Would it help?”
Danny nodded. “They’ll help make sure I don’t bleed into my clothes.”
Dash nodded back at him. “Your shirt looks pretty bad too. Do you want one of mine?”
Danny shrugged. “Sure.”
He set the bandage and gauze down on the bed and headed to his dresser. He pulled out a shirt and turned back around to see Danny pulling his shirt off.
Heat rose to Dash’s face and the comments Phantom made that first time Dash helped him came to mind. Tucker’s laugh echoed inside his head.
Man, you’re not gonna live this one down.
Sam and Tucker must know. That’s why they were being so weird that night.
He sat down at the edge of his bed and looked at Danny. He peeled the back of the bandage off and put it over Danny’s stitches. He spread his hand out over it, pressing the edges down, making sure they were sticking to Danny’s skin properly.
“Can you sit up?” Dash asked. Danny nodded and pushed himself up, wincing.
Dash leaned closer to Danny and started winding the gauze around his torso. Once he was done, he looked up to see Danny’s face only a few inches from his own.
They stared at each other for a few moments before they both spoke at once.
“I’m sorry.”
Both of their eyes widened. Dash sat up.
“Why are you sorry? I was literally the one wailing on you for so long.”
Danny shook his head. “I lied to you. I never told you who I was. I could see the way you looked at me, but I didn’t think you’d look at me like that if you knew I was also Danny.”
Dash flushed. “You could tell.” He breathed out.
“Yeah I could.” Then he rolled his eyes. “And if I couldn’t, Tucker would’ve made sure I knew anyway.”
“Tucker knows too?” Dash whispered. He didn’t think anyone could see his developing feelings for Phantom. He thought they just would have assumed it was because he was Phantom’s biggest fan.
“Yeah. No offense, but it was pretty obvious. Especially if even I could tell.”
Dash groaned and covered his face with his hands as he leaned back onto his bed. He felt Danny lean over to look down at him. Dash opened his eyes.
Danny met his eyes. His eyes traveled down his face to his lips. He slowly bent down and pressed his lips against Dash’s. Dash closed his eyes again and after a few seconds Danny pulled away.
“It helped that I was looking for it, though.”
Dash smiled up at him. “You did call me cute that one time.”
Now it was Danny’s turn to groan. “I don’t even know what I was thinking. I hardly even remember that.”
Dash placed a hand on the back of Danny’s head and pulled him back down and kissed him again.
“Did Tucker ever let you live it down?”
Danny laughed. “No. Of course not.”
“I bet it’ll be even worse now.” Dash said against Danny’s lips.
“Oh, you bet it will.”
Dash kissed Danny one more time and gently pulled him down to lay beside him.
Theory time because I accidentally connected some dots (??) after reading E91 and I have no one to talk to about it —>
(No spoilers for fast pass, please if this theory is disproven in the next four episodes don’t spoil it)
Ever since episode 66 I have been wondering what exactly was the significance of Ashlyn’s dream, because the more you look at it the more obvious it becomes that it wasn’t a dream.
To sum up the episode:
After being drugged by Mr.Thomas, the next episode starts with Ashlyn being surrounded by her friends, most of which are playing video games. She falls asleep, and when she wakes up it’s dark and her friends are gone. She goes looking for them (acknowledging how strange the situation is) and finds them (including Logan) all inside a separate room. Before she can interact with them, a whisper catches her attention. She looks over to see a different Logan, one who is clearly hiding/peeking around a corner, warn her “that’s not us.” She looks back at her “friends,” all of which now have scary phantom faces. Then she wakes up in the lab in a panic and this “dream” is never mentioned again.
At first this comes off as a nightmare. Makes sense, Ashlyn was unconscious for a bit after a stressful event. Even the background of the chapter is grey and staticy, very indicative of a dream or flashback. However everything feels too linear, too real to be a dream. Ashlyn seems to be fully conscious, and a dream doesn’t explain why Logan specifically would be there to warn her about the phantom friends. I mean I love the guy but realistically if episode was completely irrelevant I fear he wouldn’t be in it.
Now I want to jump ahead to what Tyler and Aiden were talking about in E91. They both reveal they’ve been having dreams where a phantom version of themselves was trying to kill them.
Coincidence? I sure hope not because that would ruin the theory.
If Aiden and Tyler have been experiencing these dreams because they died, then why would Ash be experiencing something similar?
To explain this I propose a theory: there is a hidden, dreamlike world in between the real world and the phantom dimension, which contains the phantomified versions of real people. Here they aren’t quite human, but not completely phantoms either. This is where Tyler and Aiden are going, and this is where Ash and Logan have visited. Why tho?
Before I go into that, I want to highlight some things said early on in E66.
I think it’s safe to assume that the Logan who warns Ashlyn of her fake friends was the real Logan who was somehow in the dream with her.
And I suspect this wasn’t his first time in that realm, either. During their video game banter, Aiden complains of how good Logan is at the game. This doesn’t really matter, unless you take into account that fact that Logan supposedly hasn’t played before. The explanation? He has played it before.
Ashlyn does not realize her friends are phantoms, but Logan has (hence why he warns her from his hiding place). It appears that Logan has experienced this dream before, possibly so many times that he was able to master the “brand new” video game they were playing. It might work like a time loop, sending the kids though the same actions every time they visit.
Okay, so, if this is some third/subconscious dimension, then why are specifically Ashlyn and Logan the only ones experiencing this? I have a couple ideas:
1. It results after near-death or panic-inducing experience.
As far as we’re aware, Ashlyn only went to this “dimension” once, during the time she was being kidnapped. The drugs combined with her frantic fighting combined with her panic probably took a pretty big toll on her physical well being in addition to her mental. It makes sense that she might be in a weird headspace for a bit. As for Logan, I would like to point out that we are still missing crucial backstory details for his character. Maybe he experienced something when he was younger, or even at the start of the series that would cause him to go into panics resulting in dreaming about this “dimension.” Admittedly this theory has some problems.
- All of the kids have had many traumatizing experiences, why has Ashlyn only had this dream once?
- If Logan suffered from a traumatic event before being sucked into the rift in Savannah, why is he now experiencing this dream?
Theory 2: this dimension is where the kids go when they’re unconscious.
This one also has some major problems, but let me give the supporting evidence first. For starters, we’ve seen both Ash and Logan physically pass out within the Webtoon.
Logan went night-night as early as E22, which gives him plenty of time to experience this dreamworld before Ash got there. I also want to point out that both of these occurrences were from actually passing out, and not just sleeping. If this theory is to work then it must be from forced unconsciousness. However the plotholes for this theory are strong.
- We also saw Ben and Taylor knocked out in the same episode as Ashlyn, and it doesn’t appear that they had the same dream.
- If Logan has had this dream enough times to memorize hidden crawlspaces in a game, then he probably needs to spend a lot of time unconscious. That’s not good for his brain
Theory 3: the dream occurs depending on damage sustained from the phantom dimension.
This one doesn’t explain why Ashlyn has only had this dream once and specifically during E66, but it does solve a few issues regarding the other’s lack of this dream.
As far as I’m aware, Ashlyn and Logan have been directly injured by phantoms while the others haven’t. I’m pretty sure. (I also want to point out that when being tested in the lab for a connection, Logan was the one chosen to be nicked by the phantom, continuing the pattern that he’s been hurt by them while others haven’t)
Although not fatal, Logan sustained a pretty nasty scratch from a phantom in E22. It was so bad the scar existed in E32 and appeared in his shadow in E42. This implies it’s/he’s now heavily connected to the phantom dimension.
Ashlyn was also scratched way back in E10, then again in E73. Both were minor but left a scar and occurred during emotionally charged times. I don’t understand why a scratch occurring in E10 could result in a dimension hop in E66, but it could work in combination with the other theories. Maybe by being injured by phantoms, Ash and Logan were both “marked” and introduced to this in between-world. Then in times of great emotional or physical stress they come back to this dream because the fabric between dimensions is thinning.
This is about the extent of my thoughts but I do think I’m onto something. Let me know of any additions or contradictions to this theory
So many small details, which make TCF such an incredible story...
Remember back in the beginning, when Cale was getting his first Ancient Power, the Indestructible Shield? How On and Hong were there since the start, and how Cale told them to keep what they saw a secret?
Now, remember when Cale came to the tree for the last time, and was glad that the weather was foggy, because it would hide what was happening to outside viewers?
...I'm 100% convinced On created that fog on purpose. The clever girl figured out that Cale wanted to be unseenand could use some help. So, she created a fog cover for him on purpose. And that was before Cale took her and Hong in. She was already helping out.
It's a small detail, and Cale never realizes it, but it always makes me so happy to find little secrets in the background like that. And there are so many more to find, if you look for them.
Like that time Cale is in the Magic Tower, and the symbol on the wall is a star surrounded by five others. That implies that the Magic Tower was allied with the White Star before it fell. It never comes up again, but the detail is there, and it gives the entire Whipper Kingdom uprising so much more depth to it. Why wouldn't the bastards who experiment on people be allied with the final boss? It makes perfect sense!!
Or how Redika was the one to develop the new magic bombs, and by having Choi Han injuring him so much so early on, there are no more bombing incidents by Arm in the TCF timeline. I totally forgot about that one, and a fanfic had to remind me it was even a thing.
Or the fact that the White Crown, which consumes Dragon blood, left a phantom image upon the bone Dragon which Cale found in the swamp. It implies that the White Star had the Crown feed upon that Dragon as he killed him, and I made a whole theory how that battle left the White Star so injured he decided to break his plate on that spot and leave a piece of the Dominating Aura behind, to loose some "weight" from his over-burdened plate. And how it makes sense that the Dominating Aura would show Cale the glimpse of that Crown for a moment, despite it no longer being there, because the two are connected and the Dominating Aura definitely WANTED Cale to realize something was up.
Or that moment when the nobles are announced as they enter the meeting in the beginning of the story, and every named character plays a role later on: Antonio becomes an ally, and Karin becomes an enemy.
A tiny detail like Mayor Obante witnessing a Dragon's aura, and that Dragon being a "typical arrogant Dragon who tells everybody to kneel", who is later revealed to be Rasheel, and that description fits him perfectly.
So many wonderful details, some of which never come up again or for a long time... They all make this story so much richer.
I maybe missed it but what's your favourite thing about KaiShin as a ship and as separate characters? :3
kaito is kinda similar to me so that alone got me in a chokehold. goofy characters with angst backgrounds get me… GOD !! he cares so much for the people around him, and it shows especially in movie 27 ! ugh someone give him a hug
shinichi is a genuinely a good person, like yes he’s constantly lying to ran and everyone, but he’s got a good heart. his sense of justice is admirable too. the moonlight sonata case, shinichi’s new york adventure, the one with shinichi and heiji in the mansion when he asks heiji if he’s ever killed anyone, and uhhh i forgot what the other cases im thinking of 💀
egotistical, perverted phantom thief + egotistical, awkward detective = soulmates… i honestly can’t explain why i love kaishin, because all i think of when i ask “why do i love kaishin” all my brain gives me is “huehuehue silly guys…”😭
hey don’t just leave out literal god in the doise post without talking about it
Oh, you mean The Eye?
That is none other than "The All Seeing All Knowing Eye Of Ultimate Truth" . A mouthful , I'm aware, but don't worry they go by many other names- The All Knowing Eye, The Eye, Iri, Terry...
They oversee the Inbetween Spaces and the entities existing within them.
The Inbetween Spaces are a chapter of their own but in short its a place that exist ...well, between a lot of spaces : Between alive and dead, awake and asleep, Between realities themselves, between dimensions even between comic panels!
The Inbetweens is where all the personifications of different aspects of existence itself, various other cosmic entities, phantoms, ghost and many other metaphorical beings hang out.
The Eye is present everywhere at all times, in all timelines, in all universes. Despite being an ethereal entity beyond mortal comprehension, they're actually pretty chill. "Got unfinished business? Alright, take your time. Finish what you need to, the afterlife isn’t going anywhere. But remember, you can't cling to the past forever, or you may lose yourself!"
Even though the Eye is generally laid-back, they are not lenient! They keep a watchful eye on all spirits and vengeful ghosts, making sure they don’t terrorize the living too much and that the rules are respected. ((Like: "If you got killed by someone you cannot spoil who did it.That's just cheating! They have to figure that themselves" (This is especially unfortunate when your killer is pretending to be you..))
The Eye is genuinely caring and helps people move on—basically, the best (and only) therapist of the Inbetween Spaces.
The problem? Being literally everywhere and in every moment means the Eye gets easily distracted. Any attempt at therapy usually turns into a yapping session about some semi-related topic.
The Eye has been around in my works for a while. They first appeared in that one comic with Ghost Peppino
In the background I already made a bunch of stuff with The Eye. Here’s one of my unreleased comics that does a pretty good job of showing what's the Eye about.
The Eye showed up to try to get Peppino away from the metaphorical TV but got carried away when talking about other people who suffered unfortunate demises.
#dead man walking au#Pizza tower OC#The All Seeing Eye#wow looks like I got carried away writting this
Nine (or so) People You'd Like To Get To Know Better
I love tags games and it's goddamn tag game time again! Thanks to @jackdaw-sprite for tagging me in stuff for me to mess around with!
Rules: Answer the 4 questions and tag 9 people you'd like to know better.
Last Song: YouTube is playing in the background and this is what it played from my mix: For Honor by Peyton Parrish. I am so in love with his songs for real for real! Viking Metal my beloved.
Currently Watching: I'm not currently watching anything new BUT I am rewatching Buffy: the Vampire Slayer and Angel: the Series! I think I'm going to start watching Supernatural and/or Doctor Who again soon.
Currently Reading: Other than all the baller fanfic dropped during Invisobang? I'm not reading much original stories right now, between school, work, and fandom! But the last thing I read was Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao! And I will recommend it until my dying breath. Enjoy the summary!:
The boys of Huaxia dream of pairing up with girls to pilot Chrysalises, giant transforming robots that can battle the mecha aliens that lurk beyond the Great Wall. It doesn't matter that the girls often die from the mental strain. When 18-year-old Zetian offers herself up as a concubine-pilot, it's to assassinate the ace male pilot responsible for her sister's death. But she gets her vengeance in a way nobody expected—she kills him through the psychic link between pilots and emerges from the cockpit unscathed. She is labeled an Iron Widow, a much-feared and much-silenced kind of female pilot who can sacrifice boys to power up Chrysalises instead. To tame her unnerving yet invaluable mental strength, she is paired up with Li Shimin, the strongest and most controversial male pilot in Huaxia. But now that Zetian has had a taste of power, she will not cower so easily. She will miss no opportunity to leverage their combined might and infamy to survive attempt after attempt on her life, until she can figure out exactly why the pilot system works in its misogynist way—and stop more girls from being sacrificed.
Current Obsession: There's a few that I'm rotating between currently!
Peyton Parrish's music
Jonathan Young's music
Miracle of Sound's music
Buffy: the Vampire Slayer and Angel: the Series (specifically Wesley Wyndam-Pryce)
DC x DP prompt
So i have seen the Damian and Danny are twins and Danny's fave bat is Red Hood and threw them in blender and this is what I got lmao.
It's basically the same, Damian and Danny are twins, but this time? This time they are tied when it comes to power/standing in the League.
Danny might be a little faster on his feet, but Damian doesn't hesitate in life or death situations, Danny might be a little better at first aid, but Damian obeys their Grandfather's every word. Like overall Danny is tiny bit better than Damian, but it doesn't matter bc he doesn't kill.
Anyway long story short, they both are send on different missions to kill some guys. Damian kills the guy, Danny doesn't. And Danny really tries but he just can't. Danny knows this would be death sentence if he returned, so he runs away. (He can meet jezz and she just goes, ok this guys my new bro, and the fentons just accepting it)
Idk how but somehow the league thinks he's dead, and it somehow works out the same as before, but now Damian has ✨brother Complex✨.
Anyway time skip few years and Damian is in Gotham, Danny is half dead and all that stuff. But something happens (could be the fentons finding out about Phantom, or just some ghost king stuff) and Danny needs to go to Gotham. He already knows Abt the bats and especially Abt red hood.
Now allow me to explain more Abt Danny's weird relationship w red hood. Bc Danny grew up in the environment he did, he really blamed himself for being too weak to kill some random guy. And one day he learns about red hood, who kills (or killed) the people he deems as irredeemable (or just bad, but it could be specifically misinformation like this). And Danny, the literal king of ghosts (like he can appreciate it from the revenge side of thing), a child who was taught murder was okay and sometimes needed, but also not able to kill someone himself, Danny really loves this guy, but also really hates himself for not being able to be like him.
Tbh i think this is more of a background or a story than a prompt itself but i hope it can count. My thought process also went to Bruce and overall his reaction to another kid who also desperately wishes to be like his (most fucked up? Murderous? Ghoul Files: Cumulus
Welcome to my little series of ghoul character sheets. The Files are basically little living documents of how I headcanon/characterize each ghoul. I've made one for every ghoul (yes every ghoul) and I'll be slowly uploading them alphabetically by era just for the hell of it.
Find the rest here!
Also pspspsps @holleringhollowfolk its baaaaack
Check out her design here!
Name: Cumulus
Element: Air
Pronouns: she/her
Powers: can throw her voice to make it sound like it’s coming from a different direction/all over, use airflow to lift small objects, she can’t fly but if she jumps off a high place she can float down, create gusts of wind, create small clouds.
Love language (giving): big physical touch person, words of affirmation and acts of service are her go to, though.
Love language (receiving): gift giving and quality time. She just loves her pack! And she feels so loved when she gets trinkets from them and she gets to be with them!
Pairings: She’s almost never seen without Cirrus around. Even when the two are with the whole pack. She’s also really close with Sunshine and Aurora and usually goes straight to them if Cirrus isn’t/can’t be around.
Influential Others: Mountain is someone who helped her a lot when she was first summoned. She was struggling real bad with getting used to life on earth and her role as a band ghoul, but Mount was there, along with Cirrus, to support her. Copia also means a lot to her because he was so gentle and so patient with her and was even willing to go through the trouble of summoning another ghoul if she found she didn’t want the pressure of band life. She loves her earth ghoul and her silly little human more than words could describe.
Kinds of People Liked: She just loves people! Like literally, she finds humans so fascinating. Though, her favorites are the ones who don’t take life so seriously, those who can just laugh at the mistakes they make. She doesn’t like to get bogged down by constant self deprecation or the bleakest outlook on life.
Kinds of People Disliked: Generally speaking, there are very few people Cumulus doesn’t like. She tries her best to see the good in everyone! However, if you’re the type to try and take advantage of that constant kindness and patience you may disappear soon. Also people who can’t see past how someone looks. Sorting people into a category based on weird arbitrary societal standards is an immediate turn off.
Time in the Pits: Cumulus was Cirrus’ mate in the Pits. Because of that she was kind of the co-leader of the flock. In a way. The others respected her and anything she had to say, but it wasn’t like she was going around with orders. Though, she’s had to break up her fair share of fights and chase away scavengers. The only real thing she was in charge of was the hunting pairs. Air ghouls hunt in pairs rather than parties and it was her who organized them. When the light of the summoning took Cirrus she didn’t hesitate to go after her. She didn’t want to know what a life without her was like. Forcing her way through nearly killed her but it was worth it to make sure she didn’t lose her heart.
Sense of Humor: Puns. She’s going to find a way to make a pun out of even the most obscure things. She also likes to purposefully act like she doesn’t understand memes/uses memes wrong just to watch the others groan. Especially loves to do it to Phantom, Aurora, and Swiss.
Basic Nature: Cumulus is the most supportive ghoul you’ll meet, though sometimes this does result in chaos. She’s going to encourage every little thing her pack does so she can take so many stupid videos and pictures of them. She’s going to be there for them when they need her. She may also embarrass them subtly but totally on purpose from time to time. She’s just a big affectionate, goofy ghoul.
Compulsions/Habits: When she’s really stressed she has a bad habit of unconsciously pulling out her feathers. She also needs background noise when she’s working, like she’s tried working on little projects quietly when Cirrus gets migraines and she just has trouble focusing without.
Fears: The sky with no clouds…it’s too open. Snakes, she’ll puff up her feathers and trill if one gets near her.
Attitude Towards Own Body: She’s attractive and she knows it. Like she’s not flaunting it unless she’s in a mood…but like she knows she has the goods. This definitely influences the type of clothes she wears when out of uniform.
Sees Self As: She’s always been the second half of a pair. She’s never been the star of the show and she likes it that way. It makes her life easier. That’s why when people say she’s cool and she’s their favorite or something else along those lines she’s touched. Confused and a little flabbergasted, but touched nonetheless.
Hobbies: She crotchets. She actually does a lot of crafty stuff. She can knit, sew, crotchet, cross-stitch. She loves making art! She loves that it’s something she can do Topside! Also baking, ghouls have weird sweet teeth and she provides for the pack…mostly to stop them from stealing from the kitchens.
Pastimes: She likes to go on walks around the Abbey and the surrounding land. She’s only second to Mountain about the layout and the flora and fauna in the forest. She also very much likes hanging out with Aurora and doing makeup, skin care, hair care etc. while telling the day's gossip. There’s a reason why she’s the abbey information broker. She likes to people watch and listen to what goes on.
Collections: She collects preserved bugs! Out of all the little creatures on earth, she is most fascinated with bugs. She has some framed butterflies, amber scorpions, necklaces, and mounts. Aurora refuses to go in her room unless everything is put away minus the butterflies.
Reading Materials Preferred: She likes those very obviously fake news magazines. Like how everything is over dramatically talked about is funny to her.
Most Prized Possession: A quilt she made that is composed of each of her packmates shirts. Everytime they get a new member she goes back and alters it to add them to it. She takes it literally everywhere, she can’t sleep without it. It’s how she keeps them close even when they’re not there.
Favorite Colors: Baby blue, silver, lavender
Favorite Foods: Fruits! Oh she loves fruit so much, bring her a little bowl of fruit if you love her. She really likes those fruit, cream, and granola bowls. Her absolute favorite thing though is strawberry shortcake cupcakes.
General Likes: warm weather, floral perfumes, romcoms, sherpa fabric
General Dislikes: getting dirty, sand, wearing her glasses, beige aesthetics
Is Seen By Others As: Just as fierce as Cirrus but in a different way. She uses her silver tongue to get what she wants and it’s a little scary but also. It's Cumulus. What are you gonna do say no to her?
Typical First Impression: Soft and caring and kind and level headed. Just as fluffy as her namesake.
Morning Routine: She gets up just a bit before Cirrus, going to the kitchen to get her coffee ready before she’s awake. She’ll try to help Swiss and Mountain with making breakfast but she can’t cook for shit, only bake, but she’ll happily hand them ingredients. When she gets tired of that she writes lovely little notes to put in lunch bags or books or guitar cases for the pack to find throughout the day.
Evening Routine: Do not talk to her until she’s had her evening shower. After that she curls up in the common room with the pack writing in her journal while they wait for dinner to be made. Last thing she does before going to sleep is throw on her face mask and put curlers in her hair.
Strongest Character Trait: Her strongest trait is how easily she can let stuff roll off her. She’s a bit clumsy, she gets so excited in the groupchat that she usually has tons of spelling mistakes, she gets excited when she sees her packmates and runs at them and smothers them not caring who sees. She never cares who sees. She didn’t always love her life Topside, and now that she has learned how to, she’s not wasting anymore time. So what if she types a message that can only be deciphered by Cirrus? It makes the others laugh and she loves it.
Weakest Character Trait: She can’t keep her mouth shut. I say this with affection, but Cumulus cannot keep quiet when she learns something. Nobody ever tells her when surprises are given out. There’s not necessarily malicious intent, she just gets excited and needs to tell someone before she explodes. The only exception to this seems to be when someone comes to her to vent. Not a word will be spoken to another when she leaves that room.
Mental/emotional blocks: Even after all this time Lus struggles with feeling like she doesn’t belong. Sure she wasn’t sure if touring was for her in the beginning, but now she couldn’t imagine not doing it. Since she wasn’t originally in the plan she worries one day she’ll be told she’s not needed. That one air ghoul is enough. She was terrified when changes for the Reimperatour began happening. What if she was asked to stay behind just like Aether?
Chores/other job: Cumulus is a shepherd for the flock of Ministry sheep! She occasionally helps with the cattle, but the sheep are hers. Shearing season is her favorite because she gets to collect all the wool and help spin it into yarn.
Long Term Goals: She wants to hone her skills with her fiber arts enough to create a tapestry for the Ministry. Even though Copia is Frater now, she’s still worried about the rest of the Clergy's perfectionist tendencies. She is not going anywhere near them until she creates something worth that meeting.
Present Problems: Honestly, besides her occasional bad day, she doesn’t really have any problems in her life that are so persistent that it heavily impacts her. Though, when she does have those bad days, go check on her with a warm bowl of soup to offer.
One Line Characterization: Cumulus is a goofy, good natured ghoulette who loves this new life she was given.
Room description: Cumulus’ room is very neat and orderly. Her bug collection is on full display all over. Honestly besides that and some other small decoration her room doesn’t look lived in. That’s because she usually sleeps in Cirrus’ room. Her assigned room is more like a glorified storage unit than an actual room. She really only uses it when she or Cirrus is sick, she’s spending the night with another ghoul(s) that’s not Cirrus, or when she’s crafting. Her potted ranunculus sits next to Cirrus’ flower in her room.
Summoning: She clawed her way out of the Pit when Cirrus got surrounded by the light of summoning. She didn’t even hesitate to throw herself into it before it disappeared. When she finally made it Topside she was weak, drained from forcing herself through. She passed out before Cirrus could even say her name. She was very reserved for a very long time until Mountain started slowly introducing her to the inhabitants of the Ministry. She fell in love with humans and learned to fall in love with her new life.
NSFW
Favorite position: She just likes to be really really close with her partner. She likes to either have them on her lap or her on their lap.
Dom/sub: Soft dom. Ohhh she is going to take such good care of her partner. She’s going to bend them over and coo softly and praise them the whole time.
Risk: Ask and you shall receive but it’s not her go to. Besides public sex she fucking loves public sex.
Kinks: Tit-fucking and nipple play. She just likes her boobs being played with. She’s a little too into cockwarming and edging, she just likes to hear her partner beg just a little bit before taking such good care of them. Humiliation, but not for herself. Loves to watch her partner make a fool of themselves just for her. Blood. She really likes blood. It’s a little concerning how much she likes blood.
Aftercare: She is going to bundle up and just absolutely shower her partner in praise and kisses. She does keep snacks and water nearby so she doesn’t have to leave if someone gets hungry or thirsty. If any toys are used she does try to clean those immediately before cuddle time though.
Noise level: She's talkative but not noisy. She's constantly praising and checking in. When she does make noise, it’s very quiet and breathy.
Surprise: Lus has a massive toy collection. Like bigger than Swiss. She absolutely loves using toys. She will use multiple. She really likes her strapless strap ons though.
Here's that little quick piece I promised in my last post. Here is the chronological start of my planned multiverse. Though it all really started when My KP fic and how a part of that started event in cigarettes and valentine's.(my life is strange and Dr who crossover) now it's all got away from me and I digress. big thanks to the danny phantom and DC fandoms for giving me a great anchor point. Anyway like I said when I get out of the hospital I'll work on getting everything else updated. Here's the fic:
The long road of how starting a fight with superman over clone parenting eventually lead to Danny Phantom become God:
Danielle “Dani with an I” Phantom, the clone of Amity Park’s local ghost vigilante Danny Phantom, decided to start a clone support group. Dani had experienced firsthand the struggles and challenges that came with being a clone, and she wanted to create a safe space where clones from various backgrounds could come together and share their experiences.
Word spread quickly, and soon, they gathered at one of Danny’s safe houses he loaned to Danielle. She also had help so each member only had to go to a specific room at a nearby community center. Her father’s ghost abilities and Mama Sam’s Magic would take care of the rest to turn the doors into temporary portals that would bring each member to the safe house. Among the members who arrived were Linda Danvers, a clone of Supergirl, Conner Kent, a clone of Superman, and Jarro, a Starro clone.
Danielle welcomed everyone with a warm smile. "Thank you all for being here today. I created this little group so we can share our stories, support each other and just be there for each other. Being a clone can be difficult. I know that as well as anyone. Let's start by introducing ourselves, I'll go first.”
“I’m Danielle Phantom but you can call me Dani, that’s Dani with an I, and I am a clone of Danny Phantom. I was created because some fruit loop wanted Danny as a son and when he couldn’t get that he made me and then tried to get me to kill my original and his parents. Obviously that didn’t work out and now Danny and I are on really good terms!”
Jarro floated gently in the air before psychically speaking "I'm Jarro, a clone of Starro. Being a clone means constantly battling stereotypes and misconceptions. People assume I'm evil because of my origin, but I strive to prove them wrong every day."
Linda Danvers raised her hand and spoke next. "I'm Linda, a clone of Supergirl. Being her clone makes me feel as if I’m constantly living in the shadow of my original. People expect me to live up to her legacy, but I'm still figuring out who I am as an individual." Linda received many nods as they could truly empathize with her on living in the shadow of their original.
Linda Danvers took a deep breath, her eyes softened to reflect her vulnerability. "Being a clone of Supergirl has been a constant struggle for me,"
She paused for a moment, gathering her thoughts. "The truth is…I'm still trying to figure out who I am. I have my own dreams, desires, and flaws. It's hard to escape the comparisons and the feeling that I'm somehow a mere shadow of my original"
Linda glanced around the room, meeting the compassionate gazes of her fellow clones. "I often find myself wondering if I'm destined to live in her shadow forever. But being here with all of you, hearing your stories and struggles, gives me hope."
She continued, "I don't want to be defined solely by being a clone. I want to be Linda Danvers.."
Conner Kent could definitely understand how Linda felt. Conner’s stomach turned as Linda’s words hammered in the truth of his own relationship with the man of steel.
Danielle reached out, placing a reassuring hand on Linda's shoulder. "Linda, you're not alone. It can be a lot to remind ourselves and the world that our worth isn't determined by the circumstances of our creation. But that’s why we’re here, so we can support each other.”
“Thanks,” Linda smiled at Danielle’s reassurances.
Conner took a deep breath, his voice tinged with a mixture of sadness and anger. "I... I'm Conner Kent, a clone of Superman," he began, his gaze fixed on the ground. "But my relationship with Superman has been anything but what I expected. Instead of acceptance and guidance, I've faced rejection."
He looked up, meeting the eyes of his fellow clones. "Superman has never treated me as an equal. He sees me as a flawed imitation, a violation against his bodily autonomy. He constantly compares me to himself, highlighting how I will never be him. I’m not him, I’m me. My own person. I just wish he could understand that, it’s not like I asked to be created.” Conner’s voice rose with rage until he slumped back down, his voice damping in his own personal defeat.
A surge of anger coursed through the room. Danielle Phantom's expression hardened. "No one deserves to be treated that way," she said firmly.
"Conner, you are more than just a replica. You have your own strengths, your own worth. You don't need Superman's validation to prove that."
Linda Danvers spoke up "Conner, your value isn't determined by Superman's actions or opinions. Honestly it sounds like he is being a dick about the whole thing,"
Jarro joined in. "No one has the right to treat you as less than who you are. Conner, you should be treated with respect and dignity as any person would expect"
Conner’s eyes glistened with gratitude. "Thank you all. Your words and support mean more to me than you can imagine," he said, Danielle looked at Conner, "if you want me to do something about it, I can try to talk to my dad," she offered.
Conner looked at Danielle, confusion in his eyes. "You can do something? Like what?" he asked,
Danielle smiled mischievously, knowing exactly what she meant but choosing her words carefully. "Let's just say my dad has his ways of dealing with situations," she replied,
Linda, sensing the unspoken desire, arched an eyebrow and leaned closer. "Danielle, what are you thinking?" she whispered.
Danielle chuckled softly before responding, her voice barely above a whisper. "Let me talk to my dad, he might have a unique perspective on this situation."
Jarro floated closer, his curiosity piqued. "What are you saying…," he started, only to be interrupted by Danielle's raised hand “I have a feeling that my dad might be able to provide some guidance or at least offer a... different perspective."
“After all my dad, Danny Phantom has experience being the one cloned and he doesn’t like it when clones are treated badly, no not at all.” Dani shook her head silently laughing at what her father’s ‘talk’ with Superman would most likely entail.
As Danielle revealed her secret, a collective gasp filled the room, followed by a mix of surprise and awe on the faces of Linda, Conner, and Jarro. Linda was the first to find her voice. "Wait, you mean to say that Danny Phantom actually adopted you as his daughter?" Danielle nodded, a warm smile spreading across her face. "Yes, he did. After finding out about me, he took me in and treated me as his own. Danny has been an amazing dad to me. He provides love, and support, just like any other parent.”
Conner's eyes widened with astonishment. "That's incredible."
Danielle's smile turned somewhat sheepish. "It honestly is incredible. Sometimes, though, he can be a little overprotective.”
Jarro floated closer, intrigued by this newfound information. "A protective father, huh? I guess I know how that feels. My adoptive father is like that as well."
Conner gave a soft smile. "Your bond with your dad is inspiring. It gives me hope that not all clones have to face rejection and mistreatment.” The “like me” at the end of Conner's sentence, went unspoken.
“Exactly, and I’m sure my dad can talk some sense into Superman.” Dani grinned.
anyway enough of that time to post about shalem again. the amount of people shalem is known to interact or have some kind of connection with is abysmally small so it's hard to vary the dynamics you put him into unless you pull in people you can't prove even know he exists because doctor is too much of a real character to just throw at him in whatever way you want if you have any academic integrity. which i do even though my life would be so much simpler if i didn't. and of everyone who's known to know him the only ones who really know anything about him beyond being a pleasant coworker are phantom and doctor which limits your range even further.
i think shalem would very much like to be pursued (with intent of forming a positive interpersonal relationship of some form) both for complex reasons of like external observation and verification of something worthwhile and identifiable underneath the unremarkable pretense and for very simple reasons of he doesn't like when it's quiet around -> i think he just gets lonely easily (moe). but he's also kinda doomed to being the one who has to do the pursuing instead because nobody will realize what he wants + what there is worth wanting about him if he doesn't take initiative at some point. and he's too scared to take that initiative in most circumstances because he doesn't trust himself, both in that he doesn't trust that what he wants is good for anyone and that he doesn't trust that there actually is such a thing as "himself" for others to see and connect with to begin with
-> which means if he were to actually be pursued in such a manner i think he's going to be a deer in headlights for a while the moment it becomes clear this pursuit extends beyond the barrier of superficial pleasantries. that's not an interaction he's actually prepared for, and he's bad at improvising lies, including to cover up that (he fears) there's nothing there. you can see some of that when iris brings up the crimson troupe ticket, he was very eager to have this tea party with her and melantha but freezes up when they want to seriously know something that touches on his background (and by extension his "self"), even though they don't even realize that's what they're asking him about.
but despite his hesitancy to take initiative the glimpses we've seen of what he's like outside his assigned personality suggest that this hesitancy is one of those imposed traits and he's actually pretty decisive, like, if something needs doing and noone is doing it he's the one who will sigh and finally fucking do it. he ran away from the troupe because the situation was fucking stupid and someone had to do something. he got phantom out of there because the situation was fucking stupid and someone had to do something. he's going to kill the audience in his head because this situation is fucking stupid and he's gotta do something. it's just a matter of how bad things need to get before he breaks character to be like "this is fucking stupid why are we letting this happen" and finally does something about it. which is just another way in which he's doomed to have to do the pursuing himself, he quite literally is just the kind of character who has to swallow his fears and get it done his damn self. he tries very hard to be someone meek and his life would easier if he was but he's not and he knows he's not. he's not good enough at acting for that.
i love that the episode about secrets comes immediately after the episode about fear. because if dean's fear is of losing his family and being alone, then this scene carries incredible meaning for him.
because secrets keep people apart. they're a rift in a relationship, a gap that can't be crossed. that gap leaves an uncertainty in the relationship, a lack of trust, a space separating two people. if dean is afraid of being apart from his family, then secrets are a threat to his security.
and to that end, dean's shock at the notion that sam hasn't told dean everything implies that this isn't a normal occurrence for them, that it's typical for sam, at least, to be open and honest with dean. if that's the case, then sam's college excursion has changed his attitude toward his brother, put some distance between them that dean clearly doesn't like and, based on the scene and what is later revealed about his character, has a hard time coping with.
this is the first time dean really makes an attempt to exert control over sam. he puts his foot down and tries to take the reins, and importantly this happens immediately after the security of his relationship with sam is threatened (or at least, he perceives it to be that way). this becomes a recurring theme throughout the series, so these early signs of this behavior pattern become retroactively strengthened through hindsight.
it's an interesting follow-up to phantom traveler, because now that seeds of doubt and conflict have been planted in dean's mind, his sense of security is breaking down and his fears are growing. sam is trying to put himself in harm's way, which could kill him: dean could lose sam in a very physical way. sam is keeping secrets from him, which is keeping them emotionally distant: dean could lose sam in an interpersonal way. his fear of losing his brother is being dangled twofold in front of him, and the threat of losing his dad is looming over them in the background.
the ground is crumbling under dean, and so he reacts the only way he knows how: by trying to take control of the situation, to protect his family and keep them by his side.
#liveblogging: supernatural#spn1.05#dean winchester#the first (second) time around i was so focused on sammy i missed soooooo much of dean's early characterization#now that i'm seeing it i'm so enamored with the storytelling#the way these traits are slowly being introduced naturally and organically#and i already know that these traits are going to become worse over time as the series progresses#right now it's just hints of what's to come. i think that's really awesome. great storytelling. amazing phenomenal showstopping etc#spn posting#.txt#spn1
