Extra notes: this was written a few months back, some nine months after the official end of the event. when i got back into dp i went back to unfinished prompt fills to try to get some done. this is one of the ones i finished,

Since becoming half ghost, Danny has gained a greater appreciation for the color green. Constant exposure has changed his previous indifference into admiration, an acknowledgement of the beauty of it.

It’s also something he’s learned to fear, and to treat with great respect.

Danny sometimes forgets that Phantom has green eyes. He’s spent over fourteen years seeing blue every time he looks in the mirror and it’s rare that he ever comes across one in ghost form, or even a full color photo close enough to see make out his face. Sam and Tucker and even Jazz have told him, more than once, that his green eyes remind them of the ghost portal.

Maybe it’s a ghost thing, his newfound appreciation, fear, respect of the color green. Maybe it’s ingrained in the instincts of his ghost half. His eyes are ghost portal green; his ectoblasts are ectoplasmic green; his ghost form bleeds green in the off chance his injuries are punctures or slices instead of burns or bruises.

Green is the color of the Ghost Zone. Not the only color, of course, but by far the most common. There’s purple and black and sometimes blue, but when he thinks of the Ghost Zone, he thinks of green. He assumes it must be all the ectoplasm, but then that just makes him wonder why ectoplasm is green. Why? It could have been any other color and it would have made just as much sense.

Danny’s always wondered why his ectoblasts are green, but Vlad’s are that weird pink color. Does anyone else have pink ectoblasts? He’s seen blue before, he thinks, but outside of the ice powers he shares with those of the Far Frozen, he’s never seen it again. Are there other colors? Are there purple? Orange? Pariah Dark had red ectoblasts, Danny thinks, though the exact memory is so distant to him now he can’t remember a detail that small.

Is there a reason? Is there some explainable, justifiable reason that Danny’s energy is green and Vlad’s is pink? He can probably ask someone like Frostbite or Clockwork, but Danny is almost too embarrassed to ask at this point, like he should have been able to figure it out before now.

Whatever the reason is, Danny just knows that green has become one of his favorite colors.

Now for today’s theme, “Season 4″, I thought it’d be interesting to draw out this one idea I always had for a potential Season 4 episode... one involving Valerie coming into contact with the ghost of her own mother. For a ghost hunter who was once so adamant about eliminating all ghost kind... something like this is surely gonna shake up her internal views in more ways than one...
