Page 11. ---- By V.V.M. --- TWO men, charged with housebreaking and theft, pleaded not guilty in city police court today, and asked for a jury trial. They are accused of gaining entrance to a house and breaking open two children's banks from which they stole small sums of money in coppers and silver.

Chief witness at the preliminary hearing will be a nine-year old girl who told police she saw her "Uncle Harry" strike matches on the wall of her bedroom and then walk away with her bank.

Part of the testimony given against a man charged with drunk driving was that of two policemen who visited his home ten minutes after being informed by radio that his auto had been involved in an accident.

The auto which they had been told to look for was standing outside the house with dents in both the front and rear night fenders. There were also streaks of yellow paint on the fenders.

When the policemen attempted to interview the accused he ordered them out of the house, they said. He rose to his feet, asked them whether they were members of the Gestapo, then fell forward on his face. His son had to assist him in getting back to his chair. He was, the policemen testified, drunk.

Magistrate R. B. Graham found the man guilty and imposed the usual penalty of seven days in jail with suspension of the driver's license for six months, and impounding of the auto for three months. Defense counsel announced that the conviction would be appealed.

Lex Luthor is admittedly, a very petty man. A very petty man who absolutely despises a certain kryptonian. So what if he made a clone- the alien got mind controlled practically every other week, could anyone blame him for being concerned?!

He’s more than a little annoyed that said clone was stolen from Cadmus, even though they had assured him repeatedly that they knew what they were doing. Trying to steal Gotham’s cryptid’s child was not a good idea- even he knew that! So of course they take the clone and the kryptonian discovers said clone and… rejects it. Huh. He should probably take advantage of that. 

But he is a petty man. 

If the alien is going to reject the child then he’ll just have to prove to be the better father. He’ll of course be the best father, if only to shove it in the other’s face. Really, how hard could it be?

i actually made myself sad thinking about how when my gran got married, she wasn’t allowed to open a bank account in her name. and then how when her husband died, she had to learn to open a bank account for the first time and balance a chequebook. all things she was never taught to do and never allowed to do until she was in her mid fifties.

then i remember how when i told her i was in a serious relationship in my early twenties that even though she was pretty gone with alzheimer’s she had a moment of absolute clarity and very sternly told me not to let him anywhere near my bank account.
