i see a lot of people say that like oh people who like it dont listen to REAL prog metal or that its 'metal for ppl who dont like metal ' which is super gatekeepy and cringe for one but also like i listen to haken and moon tooth and animals as leaders and caligula's horse and i love all of those bands but also there's something about petrodragonic apocalypse that's so goddamn catchy and awesome. like i love haken, i love fauna and aquarius, but i dont like. headbang rock out to them, walking faster and resisting the urge to belt out their lyrics, nor do i really feel the same connection to them except for a few songs (and tbh i think thank you scientist is my favorite 'prog metal' band)

idk whjy i just keep coming back to it and vibing with the album even tho there's theoretically "better" music
