We also see lots of graffiti and street art as we walk the streets of the Lower East Side and visit an independently-owned small record shop and community center on Forsyth Street, Commend. We also check in with multi-media artist and musician, Peter Missing, founder of Missing Foundation before finishing up watching The Undead perform at the WASTECREW Party in Tompkins Square Park. in Tompkins Square Park. “CURRENT OBSTRUCTION”

Bronx-born artist, poet, musician, and activist Peter Missing rose to fame during the anti-gentrification movement of late-80s Manhattan, creating the iconic "Party's Over" logo seen all over the Lower East Side, founding the influential band "Missing Foundation", and helping organize the 1988 protest against the Tompkins Square Park curfew. Having spent several years living in Germany, Missing has works in more than 30 museums in the U.S. and Europe and until 2011 ran a Berlin gallery. In 2016, and timed to coincide with Lower East Side History Month, Missing and his frequent collaborator Cyril Mazard painted this 20-foot long mural at Houston and 2nd Ave. in the First Street Green Art Park . Included at one end of the mural is a large version of the upside-down martini glass "Party's Over" logo used so often to signify community resistance to being displaced, a concern Missing feels is still relevant today.  @petermissing  @fsgpark
