I was into little kids shows for a long time since my host has younger siblings. But probably Dora was my favorite for the longest time, and she definitely is an icon.
Also, please reblog and share for a family with 2 young children in desperate need.

My Personal DBD Wishlist
So Dead by Daylight released the Year 9 roadmap, and Jesus Christ there are a LOT of licenses coming to DBD for this year and the next, so I wanted to share my personal wishlist for licenses, concepts and ideas that I want to go to DBD. Keep in mind, this is all my opinion and none of this is stuff that I think is coming, they're just things that I'd like to come, y'know?
A Second Silent Hill Chapter
Now this might seem pointless since we already have plenty of Silent Hill characters in the game, but we also have plenty of Resident Evil characters so let me dream. Personally, I'd want an outdoor Silent Hill map, showing the foggy streets. For Killer, I'd either want Walter Sullivan or Claudia Wolf, though depending on the killer power, it would work to have Claudia as the killer (to tie with Cheryl more) and have Walter be a Legendary. As for a survivor, I feel like Henry, Eileen and Harry are the only ones that could really work, since I don't think Vincent or Angela would suit the game very well. Similar to how Legion received Robbie the Rabbit cosmetics, I think perhaps Nurse should receive a Silent Hill Nurse cosmetic and maybe Hag could get a Sakura Head cosmetic. Again, this is all a personal wishlist so I doubt this will ever happen but it's fun to pretend.
A Second Saw Chapter
Yes, we're doing this. So for a map, I'd go with the Catacombs from Saw 5, where the Fatal Five's games occurred. That way we would be able to explore multiple trap rooms, just like how Gideon's Meat Plant goes through multiple trap rooms from Saw 1-3. It wouldn't have to be an exact replica, the Meat Plant map sure isn't, so some other locations could even be thrown in there like the Glass Coffin room. As for characters, I'd personally go with Mark Hoffman as the killer, and either Jill Tuck or Peter Strahm as the survivor (or maybe both.) I think having a full-blown new chapter might be a little too much, especially considering that Mark and Amanda would act the same way, so a second idea would be that Amanda receives a bunch of Legendary cosmetics changing her to the other apprentices (Hoffman and Lawrence), with the only issue really being that those characters also wear pig masks, but to that I say Legion all has the same mask, yet there's four of them so hush. Tapp could get Legendary cosmetics that change him to Jill or Peter, or hell even Adam and Matthews could get in on the action.
A Second Evil Dead Chapter
So Evil Dead is one of the most iconic slashers of all time and it was completely ROBBED in DBD. Sure Freddy was kinda screwed over, and the TCM chapter didn’t even come with a survivor or map, however Evil Dead personally means more to me and it just sucks to me that they could only get AVED Ash, and not the iconic Evil Dead 2 Ash, or hell, even AOD Ash would’ve been nice. In my dream, hypothetical second Evil Dead chapter, I’d give Ash an Ultra Rare that turns him into AOD Ash. I’d also include a killer, either Evil Ash or Deadite Cheryl, and I’d either add Mia as a new character, or make her a Legendary for Ash. If Deadite Cheryl was the killer, I’d include Ellie and Linda as Legendaries, and if Evil Ash was the killer I’d probably give him a Baal skin.
An X Chapter
I think an issue with DBD is the lack of modern horror licenses. Sure we have Stranger Things, but that’s already over 5 years old. We haven’t gotten any modern characters beside them. Granted, there isn’t a lot of iconic horror films releasing nowadays that aren’t reboots or sequels, so that’s hard however X is an iconic and new franchise. Pearl as the killer, Maxine as the survivor, it’s perfect. You could argue Pearl being younger would make it confusing between her and Maxine since they look the same, however if Pearl is given animations that look unique enough, she’d be different enough to Maxine to not confuse them.
More Resident Evil Legendaries
So with Silent Hill, I wanted another chapter despite the abundance of content however with Resident Evil, I feel like we don’t really need entirely new characters. Resident Evil already has 2 killers and 4 survivors (4 killers and 9 survivors if you count Legendaries) whilst some licenses don’t even get 1 killer (Evil Dead my beloved.) Despite this, I still do wish for more content. Resident Evil just has so many iconic heroes and villains that are great for killers and survivors, however to include all of them would take up like 20 chapters and by that point it wouldn’t be fair at all to the other licenses who get nothing. I personally really hope for Lady Dimitrescu and her Daughters to come as Legendaries, the only issue being that I can’t tell who they should replace. In my head, I can kinda see Dimitrescu being a skin for maybe Plague but the power doesn’t fit that much IMO. Same problem with Dimitrescu’s daughters, I’m just not sure who they could be if not new characters. It’s simple for characters like Barry, Sherry and Ashley to be introduced, just make them skins for Leon and Jill, but it’s way harder to introduce new unique killer skins. My other bet would be to have Lady Dimitrescu be a skin for Nemesis, and have her daughters as the zombies, but that feels like too much work.
A House of 1000 Corpses Chapter
I’m not even sure what their powers would be or if there’d be a survivor or not, but I’d want the Firefly Family in this game, asap. I’d either have their chapter come with 2 killers, Captain Spaulding and Baby Firefly, with them both getting legendaries that change them to Rufus and Otis respectively, similar to Legion. Again, not sure on power, since they’re just regular killers, but I’d want Baby and Otis to be more psychotic and quick, with Spaulding and Rufus being slow heavy-hitters. Instead of the house, I’d have the gas station as the map, with most of it being outdoors but including a small indoor area with the front registers and the dark ride. It would be similar to the Greenville map.
A Junji Ito Chapter
This one is a bit of a unique one, since very other one here has a movie or game models to base themselves off of. Junji Ito has manga and anime, with irrelevant live action movies, so if they added anybody they’d have to make them fit the style. Although Junji Ito is my DREAM chapter, I didn’t think it would work… until now… Since Castlevania recently got added, they adapted the video game/anime designs for DBD and they look amazing. Not only are they anime-ish but also fit DBD’s art style, but they look good and not uncanny/bad. My point is, now I 100% believe they could add Junji Ito characters with no problem. My dream would be a mix of multiple stories, so Tomie would be the killer, Kirie/Shuichi would be the survivors and we’d get legendaries of characters like Souichi and Fuchi.
A Fatal Frame Chapter
This is one of those ones I highly doubt is going to happen, but I would love it either way. I'd go with the Silent Hill route where we get a map, a killer and a survivor with the survivor getting multiple Legendary cosmetics to account for the magnitude of popular protagonists in the franchise. I'd personally have the default be Rei Kurosawa since she's arguably the most popular protagonist, and she would come with Legendary cosmetics that turn her into Ruka, Yuri, Mio, Miku, Miu and Misaki. The killer could be Sae Kurosawa, though honestly any of the ghosts could work as the chapter's killer. As for a map, I feel like the best one would be Minakami Village, however again, any of the maps could work, hell maybe they could even do the Saw route, where they merge a bunch of locations into one map. The killer could have a new unique item, similar to how Sadako comes with tapes, or Xenomorph comes with turrets, the killer could come with cameras.
Springtrap
Yeah, yeah, very original I know. The truth is, I'm a huge FNAF fan and have been for a long time, and even though Springtrap is not my favourite animatronic in the series, he's definitely the most popular and the only one who could really work as a "main killer" (especially since the other animatronics have mostly become "good guys.") Of course, they could always bring in Legendary cosmetics to turn him into Freddy or something, but for now, Springtrap works the best and a lot of people want him so why not? Edit: YIPPEE!!
Elvira
I know survivor-only chapters are less fun than killer-only chapters since survivors are basically just skins, but shut up. Anyways, we’ve already had celebrity cameos, with Nicolas Cage, who is technically a horror actor but isn’t strictly known for horror like some better characters. DBD is branching away from horror nowadays, but I’d still love to see horror themed celebrities make appearances. Elvira is the biggest one I can think of, known was an iconic horror legend for being a gothic host for horror films. Her connections to horror would make her great for DBD, as she would have lots of comedic lines relating to these slashers she’s now with, similar to Nicolas Cage.
A Proper 2v8
So they recently announced 2v8, however it's only with the original 5 killers and a select few survivors. I understand they want to test the waters, and also they are adding new things and gameplay mechanics to their mod, however, I personally just want a regular 2v8. Two killers, 8 survivors, just that. No classes, no weird new mechanics, just regular DBD with double the characters. Of course some things would have to be changed so that it's not unfair, but not to the point of it being a completely different thing.

The Disney Showman (Unexpected Musical) — PattyCake Productions music video
youtube
Nostalgia can be a powerful force. The Greatest Showman portrays P.T. Barnum as a dreamer who wanted to entertain people above all else. There is a very similar air to the general perception of Walt Disney. Both men were, of course, much more complicated than their public personas, but the parallels were too strong for the PattyCake guys to resist. Especially since both Tony and Layne had worked at Disney World, performed on Disney cruises, and collaborated on projects with the company at large. So combining the Showman music with a visual retrospective of Walt's life was a perfect fit.
Details:
title: Unexpected Musicals — The Disney Showman
performers: D.J. Muto, Paul Kaleka, & James Keaton (Walt Disney); Eli Jacobson (Roy Disney / featured vocals); Jonathan Timpanelli & Joey D'Angelo-LaJoie (Robert & Richard Sherman); Olivia Adkins (Snow White model); Amy Garton (Julie Andrews); Isabella Muto (Shirley Temple); Jacob McAlister, David Kotary, James Berkley, Domenic Servidio, Chadd Winston, & Eduardo Marques de Oliveria (animators); Alexander Browne (animator / Mouseketeer); Rachel Copeland Evans, Gizelle Pagan, & Darlene Chudinski Henry (Mouseketeers); Brad Pettit (Mouseketeer / chimney sweep); Jason Tibbs, Michael Rundy, Matt Hudson (chimney sweeps); Lauriel Marques de Oliveria, Grace Flaherty, & Sonia Roman (inkers & painters); Hannah Laird, Tony Wakim, Layne Stein, & Lilly Kolb (featured vocals)
original songs / performers: "Rewrite the Stars", "A Million Dreams", & "Come Alive" by the cast of The Greatest Showman (2017); "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" by James Baskett in Song of the South (1946); "I Got No Strings" by Dickie Jones in Pinocchio (1940); "You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly!" by Bobby Driscoll, the cast of Peter Pan (1953), & The Jud Conlon Chorus; "Mickey Mouse Club March" by the cast of The Mickey Mouse Club (1955)
written by: "Rewrite the Stars", "A Million Dreams", & "Come Alive" by Benj Pasek & Justin Paul; "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" by Allie Wrubel & Ray Gilbert; "I Got No Strings" by Leigh Harline & Ned Washington; "You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly!" by Sammy Cahn & Sammy Fain; "Mickey Mouse Club March" by Jimmie Dodd
arranged by: Layne Stein & Tony Wakim
release date: 2 March 2018
My favorite bits:
combining the Disney fanfare with instrumentation from "Rewrite the Stars"
young Walt sketching Oswald the rabbit, followed by adult Walt creating Mortimer Mickey Mouse
the newspaper headline noting that Disney's first studio failed at the start of "Come Alive"
those extremely perky Mouseketeers
Tony and Layne doing their best faux-Cockney accents for the chimney sweeps' vocals
showing footage from the actual parks
elder Walt coughing as he walks away, a somber sign of the lung cancer that took his life
returning to young Walt still dreaming of ♫ "the world I'm gonna make" ♫ that we've just seen
Trivia:
The actors playing young Walt Disney and Shirley Temple are siblings.
James is yet another of Tony's fellow alumni from the "Beetlejuice Graveyard Revue" show at Universal Studios, having played BJ himself for many years.
The subtle special effects makeup that transformed James into Walt was created by Andy Wright at Makeup and Creative Arts, and was applied by Rick Underwood.
This video was filmed on location at the MBS Equipment Company warehouse space in Orlando, using some of their lighting equipment. There is also additional footage from both Disneyland and Disney World.
PattyCake garnered some praise from several of their fellow former theme park cast members in the YouTube comments for both the accuracy of the behind-the-scenes imagery and the celebration of the Disney legacy.
As they did with their "La La Land" video, PattyCake highlighted their attention to detail with a series of "Double Take" posts on social media, comparing shots from the video with the iconic moments they had recreated.
As a bonus, the thumbnail for the video itself is a recreation of a photo of Disney that was also used as the cover art for PBS's episode of American Experience about him.

now that ABOM issue 1 is published, i can post my contribution :] please do not repost unless you clearly credit me!!
here’s an obnoxious explanation of all my choices that is probably way too much information :
I find the most interesting aspect of the monkees to be their era of deconstructing the image that TV & studio execs had so carefully crafted. in the process of preserving this image, these execs had created somewhat palatable characters, caricatur-izing (sorry.) elements of the casts’ real personalities. the artists themselves were given an illusion of control over their brand, rarely getting the opportunity to publish the art that they made themselves.
ANYWAY.. tying this all into my piece .. i wanted to make something dedicated to frustrations felt by all members of the monkees. Peter is in the front, making strides toward the edge of the chessboard; the monkeemobile flooring it to stand in his way. I wanted the image of a monkee crushing something that was a major symbol in the show itself. what’s more iconic than the monkee mobile itself ?! my hope is that this shows autonomy on peters part, his true self contradicting this false image created by execs-- no longer a pawn for them! of course peter was the first to quit, which is why he is taking the lead. Mike was next, buying himself out of his contract in order to publish his own music and take control of his artistic career. even throughout the brainstorming process for this, i knew i wanted to put mike in his flashy (but fabulous) nudie suit. to me its such a foreshadowing of what he would go on to do in his solo career and with the first national band. i had to CONTAIN MYSELF because i didnt want mike to have a whole bunch of detail and not fit in with the rest of the subjects.. Mike is looking straight toward the audience, realizing he would like to pursue creative projects that would not be possible working with the monkees™ and everything that they symbolize. Davy looks for the edge of the chessboard, contemplating whether or not he should leave. Micky, wearing his outfit from Head (1968), holds a remote control. This is all in reference to the imagery seen in the film; he finally has the option to change the channels for himself. I actually used a screenshot from the movie to get his face & hair right. I think in the 2 years filming the show micky started embracing his curls, but the only references from a upward angle were when he was straightening his hair !!!! I ended up using the scene where he blows up the Coke machine, a satisfied smirk on his face. what an appropriate scene. finally the chessboard, white rabbits & wind up toys. I don’t think I really need to explain that aside from mentioning that the image of the wind-ups is from 33 1/3 Revolutions Per Monkee (1969). I think this was the last official monkees thing Peter was in (outside of future reunion tours). The television special echos the themes already present in Head, so i felt like it would be a nice addition. And it shows the monkees as pawns versus having full autonomy. WHICH BRINGS ME TO MY LAST POINT ONE MORE THING ITS QUICK I PROMMY okay perpective ! I wanted to do an upward shot because First of all its fun but more importantly . it shows the cast themselves have outgrown their characters :] now who knows if ive succeeded in any of the things i attempted but at least i had fun :] and feeling like charlie iasip pepe silvia is healthy every once in a while...
#OKAY THATS ALL IM SORRY...#ive been putting off posting this because i know id get way too into putting an explanation Sigh im off a coffee.#listen i draw pictures because im too wordy and i overexplain#i could talk about color too but well. i need to stop talking.#also had to size this down do that i could post on here so sorry if its blurry. blame tumblr#a barrel of monkees#barrel of monkees#ABOM#the monkees#head 1968#33 1/3 revolutions per monkee#michael nesmith#my art#peter tork#davy jones#micky dolenz#fanart#ok to rb

illustration artist legacy
I was talking about illustration Illustration artists. But this time, I decided to speak about them. I decided to go with some British illustrators from the 35. images of British illustrators, and my top chosen illustrator is Beatrix Spotter. I chose Beatrix Potter as my top 1. One of the artist's legacies I wanted to chew on is because she made her dream come true to existing and publishing her favourite book of her little illustrations of animals, how she studied the anatomy of animals, and how many times she visited areas and places I hope if I talk about illustration artists of the British one, I could also one day on my next journey I could talk about the studio siblings in the future I know that studio nibbling doesn't have any British out. But I was so inspired by the studio Gibbling and also interested in checking out the studio Gibbling shows in future theatres in London. Interesting how was Mizayaki, as an illustrator being, succeeded. And how much time are the culture and foods and his mind being plotted out, and his inspiration is very, very visual and realistic. So I hope one day I can begin in 2 years' work, but today I will speak about Beatrix and the work such a matrix spotter is. The illustrator and her father are photographers, so her experience comes from her father's illustrations. She's really enjoyed working or sketching on the farm or having her own farms and also enjoyed the fact her family has so many rabbits and dogs. She's also enjoyed landscape sketching, so often she does those types of artists who like to sketch iconic places. She's more likely to sketch like Lance, more like an impressionist with her illustration, and then like an iconic place to sketch and expand it. Expanded more. It would be more like an impressionist if I compare what she likes with fine art. It was interesting how the animals looked realistic. The work also uses watercolour and ink; I think she also uses calligraphy and Lino um pan. So she made it very, very impressive. Printings and paintings. It was so realistic, and it had no pencils or drawings outlined with ink and watercolour. It was very, very interesting. She was really focused on the animal's shapes, like in life shovings, when I learned about imagining everything as abstract or as the shape I was. Imagined everything as abstract or shaded. I checked her books. I could only read some of her stories of Peter's rabbits and her animal kingdoms. But I really liked the squirrel story. I also brought a little book about the squirrels. The squirrels are my favourite animals. I checked out Instagram because I could see so many rabbits on the Instagram pages. Unfortunately, I don't have any area closest to me. I could check out Rabbit. So I just checked out the 4U pages videos of rabbits and imagined those little pom poms. It is like I closed my eyes and opened it, and I will see those little bunnies. It looked like a circle and was oval in shape. So, I was playing with my mind. It was like circles and oval shapes. It really has to be simplified. I also turned in my mind. It's like a geometrical shape. My favourite animal is the squirrel. I checked out those little scrolls, and it looks like I am taking photographs. I plan to upload them to my social media. I even made a digital collage, bringing them onto the same page, like those little squirrels. If I could close my eyes and open them again, my cheque the squirrels, I would imagine the little squirrels is like, um. Very, very straight-edged oval shape and. created like a little circle and had those little arms. It's also a little oval. This comes as arms, feet, circles, and triangles. The little. Nails That's how I imagined the level squirrels
The watercolours and the Aquarius are really, really enjoyable to use. I still experiment with them in my independent time. I even last year and um also my college years I was playing mixing them, playing with the colourful like to be playing with them, understanding the outstanding of the colours last year of the live drawings I was creating. one of the models out of watercolour was so enjoyable. I was step by step. They started understanding that by wishing for the life of your wings, I could also do more watercolour work and gain more knowledge of the layers and applications of watercolour. And the quality. So, I also started to use Arabic gum for making. The paint watercolour paints are more permanent, and when I use watercolour, I much prefer watercolour paper to use. Sometimes, if I use watercolour, I like to use single pages of cartridge paper because that's much easier. After all, it is always marked on the u,m t, he, and her pages, and sometimes it is. It was enjoyable experimenting with watercolour. I like to use black ink, which is water-resistant, and the calligraphy pen is still playing around. How can I make it using my own technique? Ink: I started to be along the water-resistant ink and began to make a great effort with the water-solid ball inks. And it was like I was so proud of it. It was like working at some point, and I started improving with it.

a dumb bitch. literally the entire plot of season 1 could've potentially been avoided if he WASNT SO STUPID AND JUST TOLD BLOOM THE TRUTH. was the cause of all of bloom's sad montages when she goes home to earth. needs to kick diaspro OUT of his life for good i get he feels bad where she's concerned but my dude. you have miss BLOOM PETERS!! appreciate her more!!!! still love him tho. he's an idiot but he's MY idiot and i will ultimately defend him and his poor choices bc he tries to give kiko (bloom's pet rabbit) a "man to man" talk (4kids dub) and he gave us iconic lines like "*wakes up from being dead for 5 minutes* bloom... you're AWESOME. will you be my girlfriend?" and then thanking her when she says yes (4kids dub) and OF COURSE: "you left the door.... WIIIIIIDE OOPPPEN" (rai english dub) sidenote: i laughed so hard when bloom's dad banned him from their planet in the second movie like GOD they're all so dramatic 😭
beefcake. 6 year old me's biggest crush. peak man shit right here. GET YOU SOMEONE WHO TREATS YOU THE WAY BRANDON TREATS STELLA. like my GOD. in season 2 when he's being forced to marry that one queen and he screams at her that he can't marry her bc he's in love with someone else and then when they're at stella's princess ball and she walks in and his JAW LITERALLY DROPS AND SKY HAS TO CLOSE HIS MOUTH FOR HIM. also that one episode in season 3 where stella gets put under a spell that makes her "ugly" and she, the girls and brandon go look for a way to break it and flora had put an illusion spell on brandon so he'd just see the old stella but then when stella is crying bc she doesn't think they can break the spell and she doesn't want brandon to leave her bc she thinks he only loves her for her looks but then he reveals that flora's spell wore off hours ago so he's BEEN seeing her and tells her he loves her not for her looks but the beautiful person she is inside....... set my standards way too high. also he's a really good friend and doesn't feel the need to be a jealous menace (minus season 4 kinda) like riven and sky can be. he KNOWS he's hot
the biggest moron in the entire show but you know what? it WORKS for him. i love him despite his dumbass jealous tendencies. i get it, he's scared the person he likes will eventually see how awful he thinks he is so he covers his emotions by being a giant jerk. but my dude, my guy, sometimes you gotta let yourself be vulnerable :( you can't always have these huge walls up and push away the people you care about!!! him recognizing his mistakes in season 4 in regards to musa and him trying to better himself was GOOD and RIGHT and they threw it away and i'm still upset about it lol also in season 3 when he saw musa and nabu together for like 0.2 seconds and he IMMEDIATELY got on his leva bike to go wherever the fuck they were to beat the shit out of nabu only to get his own ass beat and then become bffs with nabu is one of the funniest moments in the whole series ps he and bloom would've made a great couple and i'll die on this hill !!!
he has the biggest dick of the entire group i just KNOW it. he's smart, kind, considerate and is constantly in awe of his equally smart girlfriend. he NEVER tries to talk down to her or hold her back. and he rips his glasses off before going in for the kiss so he gets extra sexy points for that. he's literally so unproblematic i can't think of a single one of his flaws. except maybe when he wasn't understanding that tecna wanted him to see her as more than just a tech buddy but we all know he's been simping for that woman since he met her he's just bad at expressing it sometimes
KING. SHIT. god i love him so much. the way he's introduced as a pacifist in season 2 but in the SAME EPISODE we see him using force to defend flora and ONLY flora as his hair blows beautifully in the wind and he makes sure she's ok before leaving. IM STILL SCREAMING ABOUT ITTTT. also he draws so. you know. that's hot. he's on thin fucking ice after his haircut in season 4 tho... never forget what they took from us!!!!
HES SO UNDERRATED IT MAKES ME UPSET!!!! like cmon he's a WIZARD!!!!!! he has questionable taste in being besties with riven but i'll let it slide bc he's the only guy who is fairly competent in a fight even tho everyone else actually goes to a whole ass school that's supposed to teach them how to be heroes and fight. i feel like they could've used him more when fighting valtor bc hello... that's the only other wizard we see lmao basically i'm sad he was introduced so late into season 3 and that..... THAT.... happened in season 4 :( he deserved so much better
#i dont know the guys post season 4 very well so i dont have any opinions on them lol#but i hope everyone enjoys me shoving winx club content down their throats <3#also i know that nabu isnt technically a specialist but.... whatever#long post#kenzie's winx posting#kenzie.txt

Translation of Peter’s French radio interview by @theoriginalcollectorglitter12! thank you so much!
Peter says he will present the songs that have influenced his new album. The Jam - English Rose. Magnificent, that's the right word. Listening to him touches me a lot. How do we relate it to our album The fantasy of... in fact we stung, borrowed lyrics from The Jam, like "yes, I'm wearing a mask". When we wrote in Etretat, Frédéric Lo often played this song, we even thought of doing a cover, and he also played songs by David Bowie - Little China Girl. The first time I met with Frédéric Lo, was to do a cover of Daniel Darc, Inutile Et Hors d'Usage. I think I prefer my version, because the melody stands out even more. I met Frédéric Lo once in Paris, in a bar, I remember very well his leather jacket which stank and his tattoo of the man with the golden arm. We sang and screamed a Happy Mondays song in the bar and we were asked to leave... (Frédéric Lo then told Peter that Daniel Darc liked him a lot, and Peter was moved). I admit that Jarvis cocker was a god for me when I was 14,15 years old, he is a hero of the people in England and a sacred dancer. He’s a kind of an icon. We crossed paths 2 or 3 times, but these are not very interesting anecdotes: once he dropped off his children at school, and I was passing by in a taxi and I shouted "hey Jarvis", he lifted his head without saying anything... Peter says the group October replaced the group Dexys Midnight Runners because their singer insulted David Bowie on stage during their first act and they were therefore fired from the tour. Then Peter talks about the neighboring house in Etretat, and says that she belongs to the family of the drummer of the group October, but that he does not know if it is true, and therefore does not know who is the drummer of Talking Heads. So we were in Etretat writing and recording songs, and on very rare occasions we would go out, but we had very little social life because there was confinement (lockdown). There was a bar in Le Havre and on the wall a painting of a guy in a tank top, long legs and an accordion at his feet. I thought he had a good look, it was Marc Minelli. I wanted to listen to a song that captures all that Normandy represents for me, outside of any rock or pop context. This song, my wife's grandmother sang to her when she was a child, it's the only version I found... (Ma Normandie - Les Devanautes) if I'm not mistaken, this song is about a hunter who went in pursuit of a rabbit and who gets lost in the mist. The Charming Man is the kind of song that forms the cornerstone of why I wanted to sing, dance and even stay alive, and Frédéric Lo likes to play it when it's time to pass the time, or calm his nerves. Peter says the Clash song was written by Mick Jones when his childhood friend, who was doing robberies and heists, was released from prison. It's a song about friendship, it's also a very beautiful melody. Mick Jones produced two Libertines albums and the Babyshambles album, and I wanted to work with him again. When we made the list of our possible contacts, there was Mick Jones and Terry Hall from the Specials. I wrote him a letter, to which he never replied: "So Mick, if you listen to this show, stay free and stay in touch". We still have to talk about David Bowie, because this song "Heroes", this chord progression, Frédéric Lo has it, I wouldn't say stolen, but "upcycled". It didn't work out, but there is still this feeling of saying that we too could be heroes and write such great songs. I remember exactly when we had a rather heated debate on Oasis and I told you (Frédéric Lo) about the cover of "Heroes" by Oasis, and you played me on the guitar an imitation of Liam Gallagher playing David Bowie.

The World of Peter Rabbit and friends is my childhood and my special interest, so I was so excited to finally watch Peter Rabbit 2.
Here are some of the highlights:
Thomas is literally the best character. He's a bisexual disaster, infodumps about printing, loves his wife, loves his rabbit children. I could write an essay on how he is the perfect man. I want to marry both him and his wife and live in the country together with all the animals. That's the dream.
Since I love the original books so much, everytime I saw a returning character, I freaked out. Literally every five seconds I was like:
Peter rabbit walking through wet cement while a squirrel sings Boulevard of Broken Dreams? Cinematic masterpiece.
Protect the Tailor of Gloucester at all costs. Give him all the sausages.
I am still not over the filmmakers killing off Peter's mother. His father died in the original, but not her. Josephine was a queen. An icon.
Mrs Tiggywinkle does not fear death. Death fears Mrs Tiggywinkle.
Benjamin Bunny is totally ok with his cousin hooking up with an older man. But a criminal? Definitely not!
Jeremy Fisher is literally a king. Words cannot express the love I have for this frog. I would die for him.
Fun fact: In the original books, Flopsy and Benjamin get married and have babies together. They are cousins.
All the hidden references to the books!! Ginger and Pickles Shop! Piperton pets! The tailor of Gloucester! I love the little details!
Pigling Bland is still the distinguished gay he's been since 1913. All he needs now is his lesbian girlfriend Pig Wig so they can laugh and judge others together. Please. I miss her.
I'm still clinging onto the hope that Mr Bouncer will appear one day. Him and Tabitha Twitchett.
Speaking of Tabitha, does she know that two of her kittens are in a gang??
And Tom Kitten??? Why are you in a gang with Samuel Whiskers???? Remember when he literally tried to eat you???
Johnny Townmouse mentions having a wife and lots of babies. I guess his long distance relationship with Timmy Willie didn't work out. What a pity.
Those are all the thoughts I have for now. Knowing my obsession, I will probably make more lol.

SPG Kazooland Master Post
Kazooland is the alternate dimension in the Steam Powered Giraffe Universe. This post contains various facts and tidbits mentioned by David and Bunny Bennett about it on tumblr and the official SPG websites over the years. Please feel free to share more information in the reblogs!
Kazooland was named for the mentor of David Bennett, Bunny Bennett, Jon Sprague, Erin Burke, and Bryan Barbarin, Mr.Jerry Hager's mime persona: Kazoo the Mime
By 1897, Peter Walter had unlocked the power of Blue Matter and subsequently, created an alternate reality he dubbed Kazooland.
Excerpt from The Story of the Cavalcadium
The Cavalcadium tried to make a permanent portal to Kazooland in their building, based on Peter Walter I’s studies.
The Cavalcadium was wiped from existence in an instant, and it took Peter a few months to realize it had simply vanished. Time and space itself left a void to forget it ever was.
The Cavalcadium building now exists in the seams of Kazooland, and acts as a hub to many other parts of the dimension. A few doorways even exist on Earth.
Current link to the map of Kazooland: https://www.thecavalcadium.com/Kazooland.html
Information available about Kazooland as late as 2014
Asininia* The dark kingdom of Ignatius Becile. Long having taken refuge from Earth, the black-handed Becile has built a giant city which is depleting Asininia of its natural resources and precious rock candy veins. His aim is creating an unstoppable army of candy-powered automatons to consume the universe.
*name is derived from “asinine”
The 8th Dimension of Absolute and Infinite Terror The only persistent door to the terrible 8th dimension. Its history is unclear but it is indeed locked and guarded by Jumbo, The Pink Whale With A Top Hat.* The 8th dimension is notorious for being the place of fermenting nightmares and evil Lovecraftian Beasts.
*Jumbo can be found in the album The Vice Quadrant, guarding Commander Cosmo and The Necrostar
Horroria
A jagged mountain range of ash and death, which is primarily a refuge for monsters. A couple of human settlements exist, but the majority of inhabitants of the continent are Vampires, Werewolves, Demons, Zombies, Witches, Cultists, Poltergeists, Man-Eating Hamburgers, and Hamburger-Eating Men.
Hypexion V
A presumed alien homeworld of the Hypexions; thin bipedal humanoids with a sweet tooth.
Ironically Foreboding Shaped Islands
The Chaos Sea marks these bodies of land as a legend, but time travelers and fortunate explorers speak of adventurous sailors, pirates, and buried treasure. It is believed the famous Captain Albert Alexander was the first to have sailed the Chaos Sea, yet only stories remain.
Lola
The Hypexion Moon infested with the diabolical Moon Worms. The Moon Worm Queen is held responsible for eating a chunk of Hypexion V before she was destroyed, but a newly born Moon Worm Queen is the talk among the stars. The talking stars of course.
Lotsasand
An ancient dust land belonging to the ancestors of the Kingdom of Set. Though primarily a land for the outsourcing of dust and camels, the age old tales of Jackal Men, Living Mummies, and Scarab People still invoke questions of mysticism in even the most skeptical of skeptics.
Meh
An icy northern land of Snow Queens and Mystical Creatures. Many a wise pipe smoking old bearded man tell stories about this enchanted place, but few are listened to.
Merveille
Merveille is the remains of the once great Circus Empire, which exploded eons ago and left a watercolored land of saturated imagination. The inhabitants are mostly the Speechless Ones, also known as Mimes. It is often described as a tangible dream, and artists from all over the multiverse have tapped into its presence for inspiration and escape.
Cities: Bip
The capital of Merveille was named after its founder, and is a favorite spot for vacation for Peter Walter VI. It was also in Bip that the Great War of 1823 was ended by a mysterious mime with a magical kazoo.
New Pieland
Once a paradise of wilderness, pilgrims from Old Pieland settled here declaring it New Pieland after their former continent was completely devoured since it actually lived up to its namesake. It was quite literally a giant land mass of flaky crust with a warm gooey appley interior.
New Pieland is home to many American immigrants and many other multiverse settlers. Humans, Robots, Clowns, Cat People, and Vleeds are just a few of the races you'll find in the melting pot which is New Pieland.
Cities: Biscuit Town
Biscuit Town is a famous small mining town in the eastern part of New Pieland. It is home primarily to clowns, wizards, and talking animals. Biscuit Town has been run by Walter Robot The Jon until recently, and was the first town in New Pieland to elect a robot for Mayor. Currently, in the Jon's absence the Mayor's Assistant Boft is struggling with the encroaching rogue nation of Asininia, a resource-hungry super kingdom of mad scientists and candy-powered androids. Preferbia This large sprawling landscape of suburbia is a metropolis of 1950's ideals, where the beautiful residents are protected from the ravages of time by a blue matter rich force field over the city. Created by a visionary man from Earth after slipping through an interdimensional rift, Howard Lloyd saw the potential of the unstable rift and created what some have called the 1950s utopia of mankind. Those who enter the city rarely decide to leave the prospect of eternal youth, but some do choose to escape Preferbia's roving gangs of fish mutants and frequent attacks by the Hypexion Moon Worms.
Snornia
Snornia is the last remaining haven for mystical beings. It is cut off from the rest of the world by a vengeful Dragon God, but those who have seen it speak of a fantastical world of magic and danger, with princesses in towers, dexterous elves making shoes, and six winged warlocks. Humans who find ways to enter usually do so to train to become wizards or dragons, but many are eaten by the Dragon God, and even more give up and sail to Party Island.
South Adventurica
A largely unexplored tangle of constantly transforming jungles, swamps, and plains unbound by any mappable record of time. Adventurers have sought to unlock the continent's mysteries for years, and its surprises still continue to surprise avid surprise seekers. Dinosaurs, giant insects, carnivorous plants, elementals, Forgotten Gods, Bobby Darin, and Santa Claus are all said to live here, but the only proof of their existence are the ravaged journals from explorers of the past...
And that captured dinosaur amusement park off the coast.
Verk
A rainy settlement of time travelers from the 1890s. It is separated from the world by an ethereal mist of aether called "Henry's Breath," long believed to be generated by the fat ghost of England's Henry the 8th. Most settlers began traversing the aether via multidimensional travel from when Colonel P. A. Walter I discovered Blue Matter in 1896, but all matter of being from the multiverse seems to have leaked through to embrace knowledge, Victorian style, and to tinker with steampunk abominations.
Cities: Dandyton
The Capital of Verk is a bustling city of inventors, scientists, airship pilots, alchemists, airship pilots, ghosts, and airship pilots. It is home to the Verk Dandy Candy Factory, many airships, and the Verkian Rift, a dimensional hub to countless other realities.

Prior to the 2013 Walter Robotics Expo, an accident occurred while 26 y/o Peter Walter VI accidentally sealed a Blue Matter Rift that he was trying to open for high speed inter-dimensional travel between Earth and Kazooland. The result was an explosion that singularly hit Peter Walter VI in his face. He now wears an iconic keyhole mask to hide whatever the results of the explosion may have been.

sapphicsecrecy's favorite books!
hi! today I thought I'd give a quick summary of my favorite books as a way for you to get to know me better and maybe find something of interest. let me know how you felt about any of these! I'd love to talk about them.
1. the secret history by donna tartt
yep, no surprise here. richard papen, in a twist of fate, is thrust into an elite group of college students who find themselves spiraling into a dionysian madness of sorts. complete with relentless male gaze, drunk shenanigans, and a bacchanal gone awry. engaging, gorgeous writing, with a fascinating cast of characters.
2. coraline by neil gaiman
for me, this is a childhood favorite, both in film and book form. young coraline jones stumbles upon a small door in her family's new flat, which leads to an identical flat, except everything seems better. that is, until it's not. charming, unsettling in the best way possible, and one of my favorite fictional worlds.
3. alice in wonderland by lewis carroll
okay, okay, another childhood favorite. curious alice, chasing a peculiar white rabbit, stumbles down a rabbit hole headfirst into a world of absolute madness. alice in wonderland has my favorite imagery of any franchise (playing cards, flowers with heads, tea time, living chess pieces, etc). classic and whimsical.
4. house of leaves by mark z. danielewski
to avoid giving too much away, the basic premise of the story is that a young family moves into their new home on ash street, and find that the house is bigger on the inside than on the outside. a semiotician's dream, and a book that genuinely navigates like a labyrinth.
5. vicious by v.e. schwab
different from my standard tastes, but a bit of a staple in the dark academia community. vicious is about victor and eli, two brilliant former friends seeking revenge against one another for the follies of their youth, and the events that secured their extraordinary powers. an abundance of moral ambiguity and existential crisis wrapped in an adult fantasy. also an adorable found family.
6. lost boy: the true story of captain hook by christina henry
a retelling of the classic tale of peter pan, in which jamie, our main character, becomes peter's best friend, and eventually his greatest enemy. there's a delightful cast of characters here, with just enough of the macabre to stand out against other retellings. peter is the chilling villain in this part "lord of the flies" and part coming-of-age story. engaging and appropriately brutal.
7. the wasp factory by iain banks
I was careful not to label the list as recommendations, and this book was the main reason why. meet 16-year-old frank, a troubled and likely sociopathic boy who spends his days wreaking brutal havoc on local wildlife, receiving frightening calls from his older brother who has broken out of a psychiatric hospital, and falling into obsessive, meticulous patterns to cope with it all. not for the light of heart, but wry, sardonic, and frustratingly endearing in its tone.
8. the song of achilles by madeline miller
another retelling, this time centered around the lives of patroclus and achilles up until the trojan war. the writing in this book is dazzling, with a great mlm relationship. in classic homer fashion, it is a tragic and moving depiction of two iconic greek figures. I cried like,, four times while reading this. also a dark academia must.

After making her screen debut in 1989, Sandra Oh has enjoyed a remarkable career in both film and television. Although the versatile talent and 12-time Emmy nominated actress is best known for her iconic roles as Cristina Yang on Grey’s Anatomy and Eve Polastri on Killing Eve, Oh has also worked with some of the finest movie directors, including Alexander Payne, Steven Soderbergh, Mina Shum, John Cameron Mitchell, and more.
RELATED: Killing Eve – 10 Best Quotes From The Show
As fans continue to enjoy Oh’s new hit Netflix sitcom The Chair, it’s worth recollecting her best movie moments for those who want to see more of the talented actress on the big screen.
10 Defendor (2009): 6.8
Peter Stebbings’ dark offbeat superhero comedy Defendor stars Oh as Dr. Ellen Park, a psychiatrist who gives hilarious facial and verbal reactions to the outlandish story relayed to her by Arthur Poppington (Woody Harrelson), an ordinary man moonlighting as a vigilante crime fighter.
Cut from the same genre-bucking, irreverent cloth as James Gunn’s Super, once Arthur confesses his secret life to Dr. Park, she convinces the judge to go easy on him and allow him to continue his heroic activity. When tragedy strikes, Oh shows how much heartfelt pathos she can portray by attending a touching ceremony for her patient.
9 Under The Tuscan Sun (2003): 6.8
Written and directed by the late Audrey Wells, Under the Tuscan Sun is a delightfully uplifting rom-com about Frances (Diane Lane), a writer who ups and leaves her life in San Francisco to live in Tuscany after discovering her husband’s infidelity. Oh plays Patti, Frances’ best friend who encourages her to travel to Italy.
RELATED: Sandra Oh – 10 Best Roles, Ranked (According To Rotten Tomatoes)
In addition to the gorgeous locations, breezy tone, and rich cinematography, Oh adds complexity to the story as Patti, a lesbian expecting a child even after her lover Grace (Kate Walsh) has left her. It’s Patti’s visit to Tuscany when she’s nine months pregnant that helps Frances find the courage to pursue true love despite the painful past.
8 Double Happiness (1994): 7.0
Oh made her feature film debut in Mina Shum’s must-see coming-of-age tale Double Happiness, in which she plays the lead role of Chinese-Canadian Jade Li. The intensely personal semiautobiographical drama shows how divided Jade is between her traditional Chinese upbringing and her modern Canadian lifestyle.
With a natural performance by Oh matched with the authentic, well-observed writing of Shum, the movie is a universally relatable tale of a person grappling with their own identity while trying to appease the expectations of loved ones. In her first film performance, Oh won the Genie Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role, proving what a titanic talent she has been from the start.
7 Rabbit Hole (2010): 7.0
John Cameron Mitchell’s Rabbit Hole is a bruising account of a family dealing with the death of a young child at the hands of a teenage driver. Nicole Kidman gives a memorable and towering performance as Becca, a mournful mother who begins to find solace by interacting with Jason (Miles Teller), the driver who accidentally took her son’s life.
Although she has a smaller supporting role, Oh plays Gabby, a fellow grieving parent who helps Howie (Aaron Eckhart) deal with his loss at the group therapy sessions he and Becca attend. With profound empathy for Howie, she becomes instrumental in his healing process.
6 Meditation Park (2017): 7.1
Twenty-three years after working with Mina Shum for the first time, Oh reunited with the filmmaker for the sweet-natured drama Meditation Park in 2017. The story concerns Maria Wang (Pei-Pei Cheng), an aging woman in the throes of an existential crisis upon suspecting her husband’s infidelity. Oh plays Maria’s daughter Ava, a mother of two who encourages Maria to reconcile with her estranged brother ahead of his wedding and break free from her husband’s hold.
RELATED: Asian-American Movies to Watch If You Loved Crazy Rich Asians
As another trenchant glimpse at the immigrant experience and a statement about the importance of women finding their own voice, Shum’s film is tender, touching, and triumphant.
5 Hard Candy (2005): 7.1
David Slade’s Hard Candy is a deeply unnerving glimpse at a predatory pedophile (Patrick Wilson) getting his just deserts when a teenager (Elliot Page) tricks, traps, and tortures him in his apartment. Oh plays the man’s neighbor, Judy Tokuda, admitting she only took the role due to her working relationship with Page, a fellow Canadian she worked with on Wilby Wonderful the year prior.
With most of the action set inside the inescapable apartment, the visceral terror of the violence that Hayley (Page) exacts on Jeff (Wilson) is met by the suffocating sense of claustrophobia, making for a really upsetting experience. However, the hugely satisfying conclusion helps atone for the squeamish and uncomfortable moments of carnage.
4 Last Night (1998): 7.2
The most unheralded of Oh’s top films happens to be Last Night, a mordant pitch-black comedy about the impending apocalypse and the rag-tag band of Canadians with differing views on how to react. With the end of the world set to strike at midnight, Sandra (Oh) tries to make it out of her stranded position in Toronto and reunite with her husband, Duncan (David Cronenberg). One bad thing after another ensues.
Weird, wild, and ultimately winning, Last Night boasts writer/director Don McKellar’s signature brand of dark humor and anarchic energy. As such, the film has become an unforgettable cult classic among those who’ve seen it.
3 Raya And The Last Dragon (2021): 7.4
With great respect and honor for the rich historical traditions of Southeast Asia, Raya and the Last Dragon is one of Disney’s most beloved recent animated movies. Sandra Oh lends her voice to the commanding role of Virana, the Fang chieftess and mother of Raya’s main rival, Namaari (Gemma Chan).

With a moving story, spellbinding animation, and characters never before seen, Raya and the Last Dragon continue to soar in the hearts and minds of viewers.
2 Sideways (2004): 7.5
Directed by her then-husband Alexander Payne, Oh demonstrated her hilarious comedic chops in the indie darling Sideways, a character study of a failing writer at an existential crossroads. The boozy road trip follows Miles (Paul Giamatti), an uptight novelist, and his lecherous pal Jack (Thomas Hayden Church), as they hit Santa Barbara wine country on a tasting tour.
Praised for its excellent performances and light tonal touch between comedy and drama, Oh gives a standout turn as Stephanie, a cool sommelier who has a steamy love affair with Jack (whom she does not know has a fiancee). When she finds out, she goes absolutely ballistic in one of the movie’s funniest moments. The story is so sharply penned that it won an Oscar for Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay.
1 The Red Violin (1998): 7.6
Despite playing a bit role as Madame Ming in the fifth and final chapter of The Red Violin, the ambitious epic ranks among Sandra Oh’s most well-received movie to date. The film traces a famed 17th-century Violin from its creation in Italy to its auction in modern-day Montreal, and all that the instrument endured in creating some of the most beautiful music the world has ever heard.
Praised for its sumptuous set decorations and costume designs, Oscar-winning original music, intelligent story, and a throwback style of filmmaking that calls to mind the grand epics of the past, the resonance of The Red Violin is still felt today.
