The Red Thread: Chapter 148
The Library of Pastaxandria has recorded for its shelves: Chapter 147 of The Red Thread.
Ship: Matt Murdock x F!Reader
Chapter Summary:
“I gotta say, man, most people wouldn’t choose a kitten scarf to try and intimidate someone,” Spider-Man said cheerfully, his voice light and airy as he rose. The motion was so unnaturally fluid that alarms started ringing in Matt’s mind almost immediately, the hairs on the back of his neck rising. Even with the noise of the A.C. unit disrupting the silhouette, there was no missing the coiled power and strength in front of him, which would make sense if this was the man who’d been throwing dumpsters. But instead of dropping into a fighting stance, Spider-Man just… shrugged casually and waved one hand towards Matt’s face. “But hey, if your thing is cosplaying a bank-robbing grandma, you know, you do you. Not what I’d go with, personally, but I was never much of a fashion guy.”
Or: in which Matt and Peter have a talk and you try not to swear.
Wordcount: 6,626
Warnings for this chapter: brief mention of blood but other than that, you’re good to go!
Read me on AO3 because that’s where penguins hang out

Daredevil & Spider-man Fic Recs
This list will include all ratings and tags, so read at your own discretion! :)
Daredevil in the Tower by FuhkinIero - Rated T
Daredevil shows up at Avengers Tower asking for Spider-Man's help in finding Deadpool, and Peter has a lot to explain to the Avengers. Ft. Matt lecturing Tony, Identity reveals, and team red shenanigans
avocado socks and burnt pancakes by aloneintherain - Rated G
“Oh, my GOD,” Karen said.
Peter blinked at her. Karen blinked at him, mouth hanging open. Matt sighed, and said, “Peter. Mask.”
Said mask was still in the kitchen, where Foggy had wrestled it off of the young vigilante earlier, armed with disinfectant and cotton buds and a vicious need to nurture dumbass super-humans.
Peter sank low on his haunches, until only his huge eyes and fluffy hair could be seen over the top of the couch. “Whoopsie.”
Devil's Food Cake by Biromantic_Nerd - Rated T
One chance encounter that leads to another that, along the way, leads to Foggy choking on his coffee.
Matt sighed. "Yes, Foggy." He replied in an exasperated tone. "This is my teenage child that I've never mentioned having before today."
Foggy shrugged. "Well," He stared at Peter thoughtfully, "You never know with you nowadays."
How (Not) to Meet New People by aloneintherain - Rated T
“Why is there a teenager in our office?”
Foggy stood in the threshold of the office, mouth slightly agape, most likely wondering if he’d walked into the wrong building. The kid waved at him, smile huge under a blooming black eye and spilt lip.
“Foggy,” Matt said, far too calm for someone who was in the presence of a beaten, bloodied, teenage stranger. “This is Peter.”
The Devil and the Unknown by phoenixyfriend - Rated T
The boy doesn’t approach him as Daredevil. Not at first.
“Hello, Mister Murdock, you don’t remember me, nobody, um, remembers me—no, no, that sounds dumb.”
“Hi, Mister Murdock! I’m Peter Parker, and I kind of stopped being a person, a few months ago, and you helped me once and I was hoping you could help me find out if I still have a social security number? No, that’s worse.”
“Hi, I’m Peter Parker. You don’t remember me, but you helped me once, and I know you help people who are in… weird situations. There was a wizard involved. I don’t know if I’m legally a citizen anymore, and… no, that doesn’t… heck.”
i hear, said the blind man by momentofmemory - Rated T
Before Peter can finish his sentence, two things happen.
First, a red and black billy club comes flying from the rooftop and incapacitates the ninja about to turn Peter into a shish kaspider, and Peter thinks holy shit I’m going to meet Daredevil.
Second, the ninja’s sword careens towards the weapons crate and slices clean through one of the power cores, and Peter thinks holy shit I’m going to die.
A Floor Away by Merely_Specters - Rated G
Peter Parker moves in a floor below Matt Murdock.
piercings versus healing factors by orphan_account - Rated G
“Dude, can you even get a piercing?” Ned asks suddenly, looking between the two of them.
“Sure, why not?" Peter asks, tilting his head in thought. "Pretty sure May had a daith and lip piercing when she was younger. Plus she has a helix now,” Peter offers.
Ned gives him a look and grabs a pin from his backpack before stabbing it, lightly, into Peter’s hand.
Dude what the hell.
“Watch,”
After a few minutes, the intention became clear.
“What if I got tetanus or something,” Peter mutters, running a finger over the now healed skin.
“Don’t you have like a super immune system too?”
Definitely not the point but yeah.
“So, still wanna get a piercing?”
Ah. Damnnit.
---
Peter wants to get a piercing, he decides. The only problem is that his healing factor seems to disagree with him.
Spider Season by Selador - Rated M
Peter Parker is Ben Urich's intern at the Bulletin. He's alright, as far as interns go. Bad coffee, but he fights crime bosses who want Ben dead. That wins a lot of points with Ben, that's for sure.
A Different Kind of Mask by aloneintherain - Not Rated
“So, you remember the plan, right?” Matt whispered. The sirens in the distance picked up, the sounds of the police officers on foot growing louder.
“You’re blind and I’m just a scared teenager,” Peter said back, nodding. “Got it.”

Summary:
“Holy shit, you're strong!" Parker couldn't help but gasp impressed when the hand at his mouth finally dropped.
Matt's entire body moved to brace up against his own, and then the masked man's fierce growl was in his ear.
"I don't have time or patience for games tonight. Who are you?!"
The warning growl accompanied by the show of strength sent pleasure sparks down his spine. Parker swallowed hard. It was cruel how worked up that small action made him because this was the absolute worst time to get a boner. Weeks of no contact with anyone was catching up with him… Maybe he can deflect with humor. That's worked in the past right?
"Uh, dude, I think it's pretty clear I'm Spider-Man. Or did the red and blue spider suit not give it away?"
The masked avenger tilted his head to the left.
Tumblr media
"Is that your idea of a clever blind joke?"
Parker’s jaw dropped, and the eyes on his mask widened.
"Oh shit, you're blind!?"
Matt pointed to the blindfolded eye holes on his mask.
"Obviously. Just as obvious as the fact you're not Spider-Man, because he knows that."
And evidently, you know about Peter, but not us. Parker would put his hands up in surrender, but Matt was still holding them.
“Okay, okay you're right, I guess I’m not technically-"
The hand around his wrists squeezed threateningly.
"Quiet! I don't tolerate assholes in my city and I don't appreciate you impersonating my friend. You have three seconds to convince me you're not better off squashed bug boy."
"Bug Boy. Nice. Haven't heard that one in a while."
The grip on his wrists got tighter, unamused, beginning to crush his shooters and render him almost powerless. "No, hey, please don’t break those, I know Peter too, okay?"
At the mention of this arachnid variant's true identity, the man dropped his hands in favor for holding Parker's chin tight in his fist.
"Don't lie to me, I'll know. I can always tell."
Parker tried to pull back his hips before Matt could feel how much he liked that but the whole motion was executed in less than a fourth of a second. Parker's heart started to pound, not because he was lying, but because the heat from Matt’s muscular body was now touching him in every possible place and he was holding his face, ordering him to answer him, scratching every one of Parker’s submissive kinks and making it only a matter of time until he leaks through the suit...

(part one >HERE<)
Part TWO of…. three?
aka: the Unstable Molecule Suit
Once more, as always, I say—
closeups under the cut:
—🕸️—
the unstable molecule suit... i posted the blue one already (f4 suits post) but the rest is new.
context: in 2015 (when peter and co are in their late 20s) johnny will design a special fantastic four suit out of unstable molecules (third gen) for peter, but they didn't get around to giving it to him right away cause life stuff, man-spider, other shit... (which reed uses as an opportunity to test some (stealth) features since no one's wearing this one)
Tumblr media
(this was my first concept doodle for this before putting it on my shiny new spidey bod template i made recently)
(updated to lesbian reed version)
"Blue" (all the unstable molecule suits have codenames for voice commands lol)
Tumblr media
check those milky white lenses... i particularly like that look actually. hard for me to draw but looks good
Tumblr media
Peter gets a pop of red on account of being spidey lol (everyone else's soles are black and white) - you can see the blue is smooth and matte but the black is slightly textured.
Tumblr media
i decided beside all the white glowing in the dark that they're reflective as well. you know, for safety.
and cause it looks cool
anyway
in 2016 Johnny dies. lol. and it's after that when the family gives peter his suit, after johnny's will and so forth... so peter never wears the blue one in the end (at least not more than once or twice), just the white/black ones... (actually he mostly mains the black version, mourning etc.)
reed designs the FF suits mostly by himself and if johnny weren't dead he would say they're fugly (there's no accounting for taste i guess):
"FF"
Tumblr media
Here's the basic white and black version. Chose to go the glossy latex-look route for the blacks cause I think it looks nice, added a honeycomb texture on the white to make it look Cool and Futuristic (lol) This white version is the "off" version, aka, no stealth whatsoever. It's just the basic suit mode to replace their blue suits after Johnny's death.
Tumblr media
shoes… split color soles for fun.
Tumblr media
and all the white bits on this reflect too, again, for "safety" aka i just think it looks cool and it makes them hard to photograph.
lmao
anyway the black version:
"Stealth"
Tumblr media
This is this universe's version of the stealth suit, and if anyone knows me they know two things about me: 1) I hate Dan Slott's writing and 2) I think the Big Time neon suit is sexy. So some of the logo design here is inspired by the logos Ramos designed for the Big Time stealth suit, which I think matches the aesthetic well. In the full version you can see one of the major things i took from the big time suit (aside from lighting up) for both black and white versions of my FF suit is extending the spider's legs to the tops of peter's thighs, as well as parts of the back logo.
Tumblr media
feeties again.
Tumblr media
Aaaand here it is, me 100% on my bullshit: obviously this is drawing directly from the Big Time suit, in being shiny black and lighting the fuck up, but in my case I adjusted the colors' purposes very slightly. So, when unlit, in its most mild stealth mode, it's just regular old reflective white, and it only moderately cloaks the wearer, mostly just making it a tiny bit easier to sneak. ironic considering it is hi-vis reflective but I love irony i guess.
red (...tbh, orange, really) is audio damping/muting which is basically exactly what it was in slott's comic, though it has mild visual cloaking.
green is the opposite and is mostly visual cloaking/invisibility, but has mild audio damping as well...
and the biggest difference here is the blue-white glow. afaict in the comics that just means it's like... off... lol but in this case i'm assigning it a special function which is as a radar/radio/sonar/etc. scrambler and signal jammer, so... signal cloaking.
three kinds of stealth!
also i didn't draw it but, like the big time suit, peter's mask allows himself to hear and see himself (actually not entirely true, he can't hear anything when it's red 90% of the time, reed's still uh... ironing some kinks out) and the suits use contact mics instead of traditional mouthpieces to help w/ comms in this regard... (not that it works when signal jamming is on)
Tumblr media
the others also have goggles like the ones felicia has in the big time arc, that can be... materialized via the magic of unstable molecules lol and those do basically the same thing as peter's lenses.
the difference is mostly just that reed designed it instead of peter (but i'm sure peter is poking around in there anyway, and later on pete will be designing and coding his own suits into the unstable suit without reed's assistance no problem) (he took a programming class in college, you know)
(oh i also made a mod of the black one for the PC version of Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, which is on the nexus: link
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(it glows)
(i modified the chest logo slightly for this mod and i think i actually do like that shape better so i might update my timeline drawing to reflect that)
—🕸️—
SO
red and blue.
obvs the furthest left red and blue is just his standard suit, I put that there for comparison, and included the emergency mask w/ aluminized lenses which is also on the first post with his handmade suits of course
Tumblr media
But there's also an updated version Johnny designed that's very very similar to Peter's handmade suits:
"Classic"
Tumblr media
This updated version coded into the unstable suit is a slightly sleeker and slightly modified design w/ opaque high-tech lenses (w/ an internal HUD) but otherwise almost identical. One major difference is that it's totally seamless, and also the spiders are slightly different as well.
i just used a halftone brush to slap some texture on there, it's not a specific kind of fabric i had in mind or anything...
Tumblr media
slightly different boots too. This design is actually basically just my previous/usual design I've used a lot for Peter, which you can see all over in my miscellaneous spidey fanart, with the arms and the boot shape and stuff, and i figured unstable molecules was a great excuse to bust it out again...
Bonus reflectivity:
Tumblr media
And then is Civvies.
Tumblr media
This is just regular civilian clothing for the suit to take the shape of when not in use etc. Johnny designs and coordinates the entire outfit down to the socks and underwear, for Peter, around the time he designs the blue suit for Peter. (aka like 6 months before he dies)
The watch serves essentially the same purpose, being a way to disguise the suit very discreetly in a way that lets Peter wear it at work, walking around etc. with any outfit he wants.
It's a Baume & Mercier Clifton Complete Calendar – starburst blue face (10057) – introduced in 2015 at around $5000 which... for a fancy watch is not too bad but is still $4990 more than Peter would ever willingly spend on a watch. Luckily it's low-key enough that it doesn't scream "I'M WORTH FIVE GRAND"
well technically it's a bootleg anyway since it's a techy fantastic four contraption inside, but it LOOKS like that watch and it's a nice match for peter's sense of style.
Tumblr media
Now, anyway, wrt to the lining in the leather jacket, you may be thinking, hang on a second that secret spider and color scheme looks familiar—
Tumblr media
No biggie it's just the jacket Peter gets gunned down in (you know, to death)
I would say I'm not doing that plot but technically that would be lying.
It's not the SAME but I'm def drawing some inspiration for later in Peter's life from this—but not until he's 49, and right now he's only 28 lol. So until then it's just a snazzy leather jacket his dead best superhero friend gave him posthumously.
Which brings Peter's leather jacket count up to I think... possibly 4 by his late 20s? 3 or 4, I'm not sure. He had the symbiote able to become a leather jacket at 17/18 but iirc he replaces that with a real moto jacket at some point... he has a shearling coat which is a leather of sorts, and he has flash's ESU letter jacket (wool and leather) by this time for sure, which flash gave him because peter's the one that graduated and flash stopped wearing it after dropping out freshman year like ten years before this lol
anyway
Tumblr media
I think it's quite handsome. Normally Peter's not this uhhhh Hip and Fashionable, with the acid wash jeans and whatnot (typically wearing like, slacks, khakis and sweaters) but Johnny is much more stylish than him while still getting into Peter's kind of foxy bad boy underlying aesthetic.
Obviously it's fairly low profile externally since it's meant to be worn as real civilian clothing, so it can't have a bunch of spider-man crap on it if peter's going to wear it with his face exposed.
I drew some inspiration from racing-styled jackets since Johnny is the one who designed this outfit in-universe, so that kind of shape and cut made a lot of sense to me. General color scheme and, as mentioned, the spider embroidered onto the lining. is based off of Spidey's last stand though.
Tumblr media
Acid-washed jeans, chelsea boots, more Johnny influence on taste here... well partially. I think Peter would like chelsea boots since they are understated, slip-on, and cover his ankles. Less relevant when it's all unstable molecules cause he doesn't have to worry about things like red tights or quick-changing his shoes after this, but, it's one of those things I think becomes ingrained in his style as he grows up.
Also every piece of the civilian outfit can be worn individually, combined with other real clothes etc., it's just convenient to have a whole outfit on standby.
The red briefs are Calvin Klein. just... fyi.
oh i just noticed i forgot to color in his leg scar on this one lol oops
anyway
"Super Slut"
aka...
the latex thong:
and peter's tits
Tumblr media
Johnny thinks this is SO FUNNY and then he DIES before he has a chance to actually laugh about it.
even though it's a dumb joke this whole thing just makes peter kind of emotional lol.
Anyway you can also see that Peter has some remnant fuzz on the nape of his neck and part of his back from The Curse of the Man-Spider which is set almost exactly a year before Peter gets the gen 3 Unstable Molecule suit(s).
The happy trail and chest hair was always like that though.
Tumblr media
A fun benefit of including this joke outfit is that I got to draw Peter's gnarly burn scar (which i also tossed onto the lineup w/ peter's fire resistant suit).
He ALSO has scars on both sides of his ribcage from Man-Spider btw
Tumblr media
from the auto-amputation.
they look kinda like bellybuttons.
anyway that's it for the basic unstable molecule suit-suite :)
part 3 will show peter's later unstable molecule costumes that he codes into the suit himself, which are mostly black...
it's like. two suits. but i haven't drawn it yet. i'll toss a link into the comments when i do.
post three (Peter's suits after his aunt dies) is >HERE<

Season Three - Lavender Haze
tags: @americaarse @dusstory @ironprincessstranger @johnmurphys-sass @astrobees @mayasaurus--rex @woowwwee // three // five // masterlist
Pairing: Matt x Reader, Dex x Reader
Word Count: 9,303
Summary: Betrayal and reunions. For Exodus, seems one can’t exist without the other. All relationships are tested when it all turns into something bigger.
You and Karen took a seat at one of the pews closest to the side door. You were waiting for either Sister Maggie or Father Lantom, knowing one of them would be the best bet to talk to about Matt. He knew at least one of them would’ve sworn everyone else to secrecy, but they would talk to you.
They were always willing to talk to you, but you never quite knew if it was for your sake or Matt’s.
The idea of seeing Matt again, inside a place you so frequently visited. To know he was right there the entire time, the thought let the red haze tease your vision. You dropped your head and closed your eyes and to anyone else, the sight would’ve looked like you were praying. Rather, you were trying to settle the sparking heat of anger that was urging you to take off your jacket.
“Sister Maggie?” Karen said suddenly, leaving your side and your attention snapped up. All remnants of the red gone.
“Can I help you?” She asked politely, but you seemed to steal her attention as you stood by Karen’s side. “Y/N.. It’s nice to see you inside finally.”
You gave a polite smile in return.
“Still doesn’t smell like cinnamon but…” You gave a small shrug. “We were actually hoping that Matt Murdock was here.”
She shook her head slightly. “No, he’s not.”
“Right.” You said with a small nod. “I wasn’t so sure anyways.. Thank you.”
“Y/N, wait.” Karen reached for you.
“No, it’s fine. I can do it without him. Just.. Text me where to go and I’ll handle it.”
“Y/N.” Sister Maggie called behind you.
“Thanks for your time, Sister. I’ll see you next time.”
“Will you wait for just a minute?” She insisted. You sighed heavily and cursed yourself mentally before you turned to face her. “It wears you out, doesn’t it? Trying to save him from himself.”
“Considering I’ve only seen him once and he didn’t really care to talk or explain anything, it’s not like he wants me around right now to begin with. And it’s funny when you think about it. He used to be the one trying to save me from myself … You know what he told me? That I’ve already mourned Matt Murdock so I shouldn’t care. How can he tell me I shouldn’t care?”
“When someone in need tries to push you away, you have to find the strength to hold on tighter… Everyone in Matthew’s life has abandoned him, even me. He needs someone who’ll stand by all his struggles and be there to pull him through on the other side. You have to keep pushing back, Y/N.”
“How can I do that when he won't come near me?” You shrugged with an exhausted sigh. “He’s intently visited everyone that mattered before Midland Circle except me.”
“You’re a smart and stubborn girl, Y/N. I’m sure you can find a way.”
Karen picked you up later that night. She refused to let you go alone so you climbed into the backseat with your duffel in hand. As she drove, you changed in the backseat. She told you what her plan was, for her to go in first as a buyer and make sure Evans was there. And even though you didn’t like the idea of her going in alone, you knew it’d be less dangerous than if you showed up in your mask. Instead, you found a decent vantage point to watch her go in after slipping one of your comms mics into her pocket, then you clicked your mask and implant to watch her venture inside.
The hand on your shoulder was the only thing that took your focus away.
You instantly dropped to the ground. Sweeping their legs from under them, you yanked one of the knives from your belt and raised it above your head to throw. When you turned to find a target, you found Matt laying on his back with hands up in surrender.
“Тебе повезло, что я тебя не убил. Опять же.” You groaned and bit the blade as you hauled Matt up. (You’re lucky I didn’t kill you. Again.)
“Yeah, missed you too, Y/N.” He said with a small smile.
“Sure doesn’t seem that way.” You mumbled. “Besides, that’s not what I said.” You rolled your eyes and flipped your knife idly before tucking it away.
“I know.”
“You do understand that we still need to talk. Right? About all of it. You owe me that much.”
Before he could answer, you heard a male voice in your head. Listening carefully, you heard Karen say his name and a tight, almost threatening response.
You hurried into the room with Matt on your heels. You got to the room just in time as Karen threw an elbow at the person behind her. You yanked the man you assumed was Jasper by his shirt collar and threw him into Matt.
Two more men came after you two so you ran at the first one. You slammed into him and wrapped your arms around his shoulders as something to hold on. You kicked out hard at the second one’s chest and used the movement to throw your legs back and your torso forward to slam the first man to his back. As you stood, one of the men went to get up so you threw a knee against his temple and he fell flat. You looked over at Karen, who offered a silent nod that she was okay.
“You knew his last known address and that he’d probably be here.” Karen said to Matt. “What were you waiting for?”
He turned his head to you but you scoffed slightly and crossed your arms. Either he was waiting for you to say something or you were what he was waiting for.
“You knew we’d come?” She kept going.
“I’d hoped.” Matt answered.
“But you couldn’t have come to me?” You said angrily. You moved to Matt, still knelt by Jasper’s side, and forced your foot against his chest, pushing him to his back and leaning your weight forward to keep him down. “You didn’t want to just talk to me?”
“I didn’t know if I could get to you.” He tried but you leaned forward more and he groaned slightly.
“I may not read heartbeats but I know when you’re full of shit.”
“How was I supposed to try? When Fisk has the FBI in his pocket.”
“Because we live together!” You said angrily. “Because I never was! Because I was at that goddamn church every day!”
“He could’ve had eyes on you the whole time. How was I supposed to know?”
“You never even tried!” Your voice broke as you yelled.
You felt a hand on your arm and turned quickly, only
to see Karen with a concerned expression. Her eyes darted between yours and you knew by the colors lurking in your peripherals that your eyes were reflecting that bright, hot red. You gave in and let her pull you off Matt but once you were clear, you turned and slammed your fist through a nearby picture frame.
“I’ll help you, but after that, you need to help me and Foggy. The FBI is all over us and-“ Karen tried to explain quickly but you could feel her worry for you.
“You want me to turn myself in.” Matt cut in as he stood, rubbing the spot on his chest where your weight had been. You knew it didn’t hurt him. He was still built too well for just your weight to hurt.
“You talk to Foggy?”
“No, but it’s the smart move.. Sure, I’ll do it. I’ll turn myself in.” He turned towards you. “To you.”
“What?” Your brows raised quickly and you pushed your mask to the top of your head as if you wanted him to fully see your expression. “I’m not supposed to be involved with your investigation. It’s the one conflict of interest I can’t get around.”
“I won’t do it if I’m not turning myself in to you.” He said simply.
“They find out I’m anywhere near you and I’m done. Everything I’m working on is thrown away.”
“I thought you were an elite spy?” He tried to joke.
“It doesn’t matter. Even if you turn yourself in to me, I would still have to hand you over to Ray. It’s not my case.”
“Wait, what if they’ve figured out you’re… you?” Karen tried.
“Ray would’ve been hassling me a little more to figure out me if he knew anything.” You waved a hand, wincing as you felt the small glass shards shifting in your knuckles. Matt made a move for your hand but you crossed your arms, unintentionally pushing the broken pieces deeper into your skin.
“The mask doesn’t do me any good if I'm a wanted man either way.” Matt shrugged. “Besides, if the FBI figures out who I am, maybe I’ll get lucky and they’ll lock me up next to Fisk.”
“Да, хороший пентхаус в президентском доме для Кухня дьявола ада.” You snorted to yourself and Matt chuckled. (Yeah, a nice penthouse at the Presidential for the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.)
“Foggy said you were different, that you had changed. I thought it was bullshit but..”
“You’re acting a lot like me, Devil Boy.” You warned as you repositioned your mask. “Remember when I told you that you were gonna become just like the one person you didn’t wanna be?”
“Whatever.” He scoffed and you had the desire to kick him in his teeth. “We can’t take his statement here. Fisk’s lawyers will say it was coerced.”
“We’ll take him to the Bulletin.” Karen answered. “We get him on record in front of witnesses.. Besides, my editor is gonna wanna hear all this with his own ears.”
Matt yanked Jasper up and threw him into a nearby chair. You collected a bright yellow ball of fear in your palm and pushed it into his chest, watching him jerk awake in sudden terror. He moved to get out of the chair but you shoved a foot against his chest and forced him back. You held that position, leaning your weight forward as Matt came to your side.
“It’s your lucky day. We’re gonna give you a choice.” Matt began. “Option one- I call the FBI and Fisk has you killed before you can tell ‘em how you got out of prison.”
“Trust me when I tell you that Fisk will be able
to reach you, even from his penthouse.” You threatened, your accent tinting your voice as you leaned away. “Even with the FBI watching him.”
“Option two- you tell this nice reporter the truth about what you did for Fisk and I’ll let you run someplace Fisk will never find you.”
“I can’t.” Jasper shook his head.
“Cool. Option one.” Matt shrugged and made a move but you shot your arm out to stop him. You shot him a pointed look and he simply pressed his lips together in a line.
“If I talk, Fisk kills my son!” Jasper panicked. “We had a good life before the neighborhood went down and I got myself put away… Left my son without a father and this is what he does with his life.”
“What makes you think Fisk would need you to talk to kill either of you?” You countered simply. “If that man feels even the slightest bit threatened by what you know, he won’t hesitate to kill you both.”
“If Fisk stays out of prison, a lot of innocent people are gonna die.” Karen said, a dark tone in her words. “So you can either tell my paper the truth and we let you and your son run far away or you can go back to prison and I print the story like you talked anyway.”
“You would lie and get us both killed?”
“In case you haven’t noticed, she’s pretty well protected.” You gestured to yourself and Matt.  “The way I see it, you are the one that needs our help.”
“If you three hadnt-“
“Shut up.” You groaned and leaned away, moving your foot off his chest. “What if I can guarantee your son gets out of town before anything happens?” You offered and you felt his panic slowly drop as he looked at you with wide eyes. “People in this town owe me some favors so I can have your son out of town tonight and you can follow right after you’re done. New names, new lives in a new place.”
“You would do that?” He asked gently. “I thought you didn’t give chances.”
“I’m not doing it for you.” You said honestly. “It’s a limited time offer that I will not extend again. I have no problem putting a bullet in your head if you back out or you take too long. Do we have a deal or not?”
The next morning, you and Foggy sat in the conference room as you waited for Ray. Your foot tapped quickly under the table and all you could think while Foggy and Ray talked was how different Matt really was. He was so much darker, so lost in his own head. You’d never seen him so miserable. Whether he wanted to admit it or not, whether he said it out loud or not, that thick slime of misery trailed behind him like footprints.
It was like he had forgotten everything about who he was.
Did you do that? Had your influence broken him?
No, you had been apart too long. There’s no way it was your fault.
“My client’s ready to submit to questioning.” Foggy explained before turning to you. “Under the condition that she’s the one to bring him in and is present during all interrogations.”
“She’s not allowed on this case.” Ray countered easily. “Conflict of interest.”
“I have a witness lined up that can help provide information on Mr. Murdock’s innocence.” You said honestly.
“Sounds like I’m being jerked around, Y/L/N.” Ray sighed. “You know you’re not supposed to be anywhere near this. I tell Hattley and you’re done.”
“What she doesn’t know won’t hurt her.”
“It’s too personal for you, Y/N.”
“It’s less about Murdock and more so about getting Fisk locked up again. I will hand Murdock over to you immediately, I swear. As long as he gets into your custody, does it really matter who he turns himself in to? I’m just there for the witness statement. Anything else that happens is out of my control. Besides, I’m the only one he knows isn’t playing Fisk’s games. I’m the only one at this bureau he trusts. Why not capitalize on that while you can?”
“You’re a real pain in my ass, you know that?”
“Yeah, it’s a running theme with me. Are we doing this or not? Cause if Murdock gets away, when he’s literally being handed over to you, that’s not on me. I’m sure Hattley will have a field day with that.”
With a heavy sigh and realizing you had him in a corner, Ray agreed. A weight lifted off your chest but a new one settled on your shoulders. While you made good on your end with Jasper, having called Natasha and asked her to help get some ducks in a row so the kid was out of town before the prior night ended, you were now worried about taking his statement. Fisk had to have eyes on Jasper
to ensure something like that didn’t happen, that he didn’t open his mouth.
You knew something was coming. As someone who grew up knee deep in the blood of people who didn’t keep their mouths shut, you’d be lucky if you got two words out of Jasper before a bullet shut him up for good. Especially if a certain FBI SWAT sniper was involved.
Having returned to his hidden dwelling under his church, Matt was conversing with Sister Maggie and thinking. Every time he had spoken to Y/N since his return from the dead, it hasn’t been from him reaching out. It had been a matter of circumstance. But that didn’t stop one of her sentences from bouncing around his brain.
You never even tried!
The apartment was closer than the basement after he got out of the river. Karen brought her along when they confronted Jasper Evans. As far as Matt could control and despite the way it hurt, he wanted to keep her away. He didn’t try to reach her. In fact, he actively tried to stay away from her. Because he knew, no matter what was going on or who was trying to kill him or arrest him, he wouldn’t want to leave her side again once he returned.
Her life was going great without him, for the most part at least from what he understood. Whoever she was sleeping with. Her position at the FBI. No one trying to kill her. No secret to keep. Friends who cared about her. She had almost everything she ever wanted, everything she deserved.
Though, and he couldn’t admit it out loud, he was hoping there was still a part of her that wanted him.
Admittedly, he noticed something different in her demeanor. Something darker, empty. She didn’t feel quite the same but maybe that was due more to the change in Matt than her. Or that was a result of processing the grief and trauma from Midland Circle on her own.
As caring as Foggy and Karen could be, they just wouldn’t get it. The only person that probably would was Frank, and neither of them had heard from him in a while.
Despite it all, despite the protests in his head and all logic he had left, he wanted to be with her again. To feel her touch against his skin, more than while she beat on him - though he’d admit he deserved it. He wanted her sleepy voice, muttering some old song or just talking about whatever thought she had.
What he wouldn’t give to have his Y/N back.
“This have anything to do with a certain fiery one with a couple scars that visits us?” Maggie teased with a knowing smile.
“Y/N.” He said her name softly, like a secret only he knew. He smiled as he thought of her, coming all the way inside a place she didn’t care for just for him. “Yeah.. I’m meeting her.”
“She’s lovely. Temperamental, but lovely.”
“She is.” He chuckled lightly.
“She knows you’re Daredevil.”
“She does. Took a while of her fighting beside me for her to figure it out but….”
“But she sticks around? Sounds like a keeper.”
Matt couldn’t hide the grin.
“Yeah, she’s… She’s definitely more than a friend.” He agreed. “I really do love her.”
“Nice to hear you used the f-word and the l-word.” Maggie continued with a smile. “And to see you reconnecting.”
“No, we’re not..” He tried to explain but the wrenching feeling of his chest cut the words off. He had to remind himself to keep distance, to make it easier on Y/N. “She’s just helping me… I gotta turn myself in to the FBI and Y/N is the only one I can trust.”
“Trust?” She nodded in thought. “Trusting someone usually means you care.”
“I do.” He agreed sadly. “I care about her more than anyone but.. I can’t just waltz back into her life like nothing happened. She wants answers and I can’t give them to her.”
“Can’t or won’t?”
“I can’t give her the answers she deserves.” He clarified before he cleared his throat, hoping to clear the growing tightness, and redirected the conversation. “I’ve been falsely accused. Gotta clear my name.”
“You mean Matt Murdock’s name.. If you’re leaving him behind, what does it matter?”
“My life is complicated enough without being a wanted fugitive… Besides if they look too deep, they’ll figure out me and then they figure out Y/N/N. I’m doing this to protect her.”
It had always been to protect Y/N.
“Y/N/N…” She smiled slightly, seemingly proud of what she heard. “Careful, Matthew. Someone might think you’re still a bit soft under that hard exterior.” She joked
lightly as she left.
Something about the day felt off as you sorted the duffel from your trunk. It was a looming anxiety and it wasn’t coming from you. It was stemming from a distant source. Lonely. Cold. Afraid. Panicked. It was the feeling of someone who had lost everything, who was at the end of their rope. Teetering the ledge, willing to plummet rather than be saved.
It sent a shiver down your spine but you pushed the sensations away to focus on the task at hand.
You doubted you’d have time to change into the full suit, so that and your pack, you left in the bag. You had access to a mask and a pair of Bites in your glove box. Under your shirt, you wore the discreet vest and fit your holster with one of your own guns, rather than your bureau issued piece. Your badge was in your jacket pocket and two knives sat at your back, tucked safely into your waistband. You slipped a couple discs into one boot and a smoke bomb into the other. Satisfied with your simple collection of gear, you grabbed your bag and headed to pick up Foggy.
“How do you feel?” He asked as you drove with the radio low.
“He hasn’t explained shit to me.” You said simply. “He’s avoided every real chance at a conversation and he’s definitely different.. He reminds me a lot of myself and I don’t like it. It doesn’t feel right.”
“Just give him some time. You are probably the one person that he can’t hide from for long.”
“It took him how long to admit to me he was Daredevil?”
“And it took how long for you to admit you were Exodus?”
“Are.”
“What?”
“I am Exodus.” You turned to him at a red light. “She’s not just gone because I don’t wear the suit as much.”
“Regardless.” Foggy said carefully, taken back by your words.
The determination was easy to recognize. There was no mistaking your intent. Exodus would never be the past for you, and the time without Matt - the way you let that side of yourself handle the fallout from Billy - was more than enough to recognize that you were more the vigilante than anything.
“Matt’s not a criminal.” He continued as you drove. “FBI won’t have anything and it’ll expose Fisk. We all win.”
“Once this all blows over, I don’t think I’ll keep this job much longer.” You confessed.
“I thought you liked the FBI.”
“I do but it seems like.. Every path I take, I end up in the same situations. I always end up in a fight that puts the people in my life at risk… I don’t know, maybe it’s better if I take off again. Keeps everyone safe.”
“No.”
“No?”
“You don’t get to leave again.” Foggy said simply. “I’m still trying to get Matt back. You can’t leave.”
“Fog, c’mon.” You tried as you parked. “I have no place in the world.”
“No.” He shook his head firmly. “You don’t get to go anywhere. Your place is here, with me and Karen and Matt. End of story.”
You smiled slightly as you got out of the car. Despite everything, your own lies and secrets and selfish behaviors, Foggy refused to turn his back on you. Nearly everyone had abandoned you, some you admittedly turned your back on first but still. No matter how hard you pushed, Foggy pushed right back into his spot.
That’s why he was your best friend.
You two walked into the Bulletin and the Foggy found Matt before you did. You stopped at the end of the hall and felt your heart jump to your throat. You felt Foggy’s hand on your elbow and you glanced over, catching his concerned expression.
“You okay?” He said softly.
“Yeah, uh.” You nodded and gathered yourself. “I’m just gonna call and check in with Ray.”
“Y/N.” He gave a small frown.
“It’s not like he’s gonna talk to me anyway.” You offered a sad smile. “Sooner this gets done, the better it’s gonna be for everyone.”
“Sooner you talk to him, the better it’s gonna be for you.” He softly insisted.
You let out a sigh and watched Matt’s head turn. His eyebrows raised slightly and you knew he was listening to you. Your heart rate or breathing. Maybe he was listening for your voice. Either way, you gave him nothing. Your pulse and breathing were as steady as ever while you quietly left to another room. You felt Foggy’s demeanor fall as he went to sit with Matt.
Your conversation with Ray was short and sweet. It was clear that he wanted some sort of confirmation that you had Matt and Jasper, but you gave him neither simply
for the fact that you couldn’t guarantee who was listening on his end. All you asked for was confirmation that his team was en route and that was exactly what you got.
Their conversation suddenly fell when you got back.
“Ray’s getting his team together. They should be here in less than ten.” You said simply, standing behind Foggy’s chair.
“Are you sure you wanna do this?” Foggy tried.
“You sure this FBI agent can be trusted?” Matt turned his head to you.
“He just wants the truth.” You said honestly. “He’s a good guy as far as I can tell.”
“Then yeah, I’m sure.” He nodded.
“Y/N.” Foggy turned. “Say something.”
“He knows.” You looked to Matt, shutting down the sharp pang in the center of your chest. “He saw everything at the prison. That’s why you’re under investigation, why he put a spotlight on you.”
“Are you?” He asked, a worry in his tone that he tried to push away. “Under investigation.”
“Not yet, but I’m sure the SAC is looking for a reason.”
“Y/N…”
“Matt.” You said sharply, maybe sharper than intended, but that didn’t seem to bother him.
He smiled slightly but the expression quickly fell away.
“What happened?”
“You mean how you died?.” You said flatly. “Well you pretended to at least. Or did you mean after that?”
“You know what I meant.”
“And yet you still don’t get it. Death doesn’t happen to you. You’re not the one dealing with the fallout. Death happens to everyone around you, to the people left standing in the rubble of that building wondering how the hell are they supposed to go on without you. And your death happened to the people that couldn’t even talk about it.”
“You’re right..”
“Don’t just agree with me.” You said angrily. “Argue with me. Defend yourself.”
“You wanna have an argument in the middle of the Bulletin?” His brows raised in accusation.
“I want you to show that you give a shit. I want you to acknowledge the fact that you don’t care about getting hurt, and you sure as hell don’t care when it hurts someone else.”
“You know I didn’t want to hurt you, Y/N/N.”
“But you did.”
“If there was another way, I would’ve-“
“There was.” You cut in sharply. “You could’ve left when everyone else did.. No one was recovered from the rubble because they couldn’t get deep enough. So as far as I’m concerned, there was no way out and you made it by some grace of your God. You didn’t have to stay down but you did. But you won’t admit that you were wrong.”
“At the time, I thought-“
“So where have you been?” You cut in again, not wanting to hear an excuse. “It’s been a very long time since you’ve been home, Matthew.”
“I thought you’d be safe.”
“So you were trying to protect me?” You laughed.
“I’ve always tried to protect you.”
“Well you didn’t. You left. You left like I was never a reason for you to stay.” You felt the sting in your chest grow sharper, begging for the attention that you weren’t giving it. Instead, it manifested as a waver in your voice as he stood and made a move around to come around Foggy’s chair.. “You left and I just let you. So really, it doesn’t matter how we choose to remember what happened between us. Because I know two things. One, that I was good and I loved you. And two, it just wasn’t enough.”
“Y/N, you’ve always been enough.” Matt tried but something over his shoulder caught his attention.
A wave of panic washed over you, disappearing as suddenly as it came, so you took a few steps to try and see something. Along with the panic you felt an empty sadistic pride, pride in the pain caused and a complete lack of empathy. What really worried you was the familiarity of that lack of empathy.
“Matty?” You tried, looking down the hall to where that feeling came from.
“Screaming.” He said simply, moments before the light cut off.
“Он сломал его..” You said to yourself, realizing your fake offer to help Fisk wasn’t needed and that’s why he didn’t take it when you offered. (He broke him.)
“What?” Foggy jumped up. “What does that mean?”
“It means that this just went from bad to worse. Get to Karen, get as many people as you can, and get out of here.”
“Go help him. I’ll handle this.” Matt said, trying to push you to follow Foggy.
“Not a chance.” You pushed him off. “You can't handle this on your own. Trust me.”
Matt grabbed your arm and gave a small squeeze, feeling for the usual material of your vigilante top.
“You’re not dressed for this.” He said lowly as you yanked your arm away.
“Neither are you.” You countered in the same quiet tone as you pressed against his abdomen, revealing not the hard pad of his suit, but the firm feeling of his muscles. He gave a small groan when your hand hit a still healing wound. “Unless the Devil suddenly fights in a suit and tie.”
“Y/N.” He tried.
“You’re gonna need me.” You said simply. “Keep him busy till I get there. And try not to die.”
You hurried out to your car, striping out of your FBI jacket and button-up. You threw the clothes in the back seat which left you in your vest from Melvin, your under arm holster, and a short sleeve black workout top underneath it all. You grabbed the mask and Bites from your glovebox. You hesitated at the Bites when you realized that the brace was too easy to recognize.
It was meant to absorb kickback from pulling a trigger and impact from hits, but if it truly was Dex, he would know it was you. It left your wrist vulnerable but you couldn’t risk it. You noticed your gym bag was still on the floor of your backseat. You dug through it for your wraps and quickly secured them into place, You threw the brace  in the back with your clothes and fit the mask to your face before rushing back into the building as you slipped the Bites over the wraps.
You threw the door open to the office space Karen was supposed to be when you saw him. Across the room, a familiar frame was sporting a very familiar look. He slowly turned to face you and it felt as if all the blood in your body drained out.
You expected to stand against Dex. From the second you knew Fisk wanted him, you didn’t have high hopes that you could keep him on your side. The man was a ticking time bomb from the start, and without you to keep the timer from running, it was a matter of time before you two were opposing forces.
But the fact that he wore Matt’s suit was what made you stop in your tracks.
“Thought you were dead.” You called across the room, watching his head tilt as your accent laced your words. “Been a long time, Red. I was starting to get lonely. Where’ve you been?”
He said nothing as the door was thrown open behind you. You watched as Dex smirked and pulled his arm back, a baton in hand. He launched the weapon across the room and you were quick to step in front of whoever came in after you, arms up to block your face as you braced for the impact. But the impact never came.
Lowering your arms, you saw the baton was caught by Matt. You released a small breath of relief before you shoved Foggy away. While the two boys were locked on each other, you took the chance to find a new angle.
You knew Dex was always better at a distance. He was strong but ricochets and projectiles were his strong suits. All you had to do was get in close. You were fast and precise enough that he shouldn’t be able to touch you for a while but the new problem was that Matt was in the mix.
Once there was an opening, you moved in. Matt had hit Dex hard enough to have him stagger back so you attacked from behind. You used the desk as footing and jumped off, hooking an arm around his neck as you swung yourself over his shoulder. Your fingers had closed around the material of the suit and yanked him with you, your momentum strong enough to throw him to his back. You landed on your knees and so you spun yourself and saw him pushing himself up to his elbows.
You planted both hands flat against the ground and kicked out sharply, slamming both heels against the side of his head. Once he hit the floor again, you pushed yourself through a backwards tumble and pulled a knife from your belt.
Dex turned to you and you could feel the anger from his glare. You offered a wink, which only seemed to piss him off more, before moving in first. You swiped for a familiar gap in the suit but he caught your wrist while his foot kicked out the back of your knee. He forced you to the ground and twisted your arm outward. You let out a yelp before dropping the knife to your other hand and slicing upwards, catching a space between the plates of his arm.
He dropped his hold which let you fall to the floor. Matt helped you to your feet and put his hands on either side of your head. You nodded quietly and waved away his concern so he could take over the fight.
You moved out of sight, pressing your back against the side of a desk while holding your blade between your teeth as you rubbed the aching joint. You shook your head quickly, collecting yourself enough to let your anger take control. You felt it burn through your veins instead and you rolled your shoulders to break it up before turning to peek over the desk and see what the boys were up to. Matt had knocked Dex down and you took your shot.
You slid across the top of the desk and hooked your ankles around Dex’s neck. His hands landed on your hips as he lifted you so he could slam you back against the desk. You coughed roughly but kept your hold, jamming your Bite against the exposed skin of his neck. He fell to his back, but with your ankles still locked, you were dragged down too.
You landed on top of him so you twisted your hips and leaned a knee against his throat. You freed the other foot and planted it beside his head for balance. You grabbed either arm and held them outwards, leaving him struggling under your weight.
His flailing was slowing when you were tackled off. You two rolled for a minute before Matt was on top of you.
“The hell is your problem?” You angrily pushed him off.
“You don’t even know this guy.” He reasoned breathlessly.
“You think that’ll make a difference to him? I wasn’t even gonna kill him.” You scoffed and turned to find Dex. “Yet.”
As soon as you did, you barely had a second to get your arms up. The butt end of a baton slammed into your forearms, forcing your own limbs against your face. You staggered back into Matt and you tasted blood in your mouth from how the impact slammed your teeth together hard enough to catch a piece of your cheek.
Dex slammed into you, tackling you into Matt and knocking air out of your lungs. Your head smacked the desk before you rolled over it and you could see Dex’s feet on the other side when you landed. You twisted and kicked the edge of the desk to hit Dex in the stomach.
You crawled under it and between his legs before he could stand fully. You reached under and hooked your fingers around the holster strap. You yanked him down and turned to get your feet against the ground. You pushed backwards and as you were rolling, you shifted your arms to grab his. You fell back and flattened his arm before kneeling on it. With a sharp red glow at your Bite, you lifted the weapon to fire.
You heard Matt getting closer so you lifted your other wrist to ensure he wouldn’t stop you again. Opting for a blue glow against your newly returned partner, you fired both weapons at either man. You hurried back to your feet, punctuating your success against Dex with a swift kick to his jaw, before you made a beeline for where you saw Foggy go in.
When you heard the slam of metal on metal above you, you turned and saw the light fixture coming down. You dropped to a knee and lifted your arms, wincing slightly as the spark scattered across your exposed arms and the corner of the metal scraped your forehead.
You grabbed the metal frame and turned back, seeing Dex giving you a proud smirk as he came around the nearest desk and grabbed a handful of things from the organizer. He kept eye contact with you as he flung them at Matt, who had just made it behind an overturned desk. You gripped the frame tightly, jagged edges digging into your fingers. You rushed him quickly, momentarily distracting him from Matt. You swung the frame at him, knocking him to his back. He hurried to reach for your ankle but you jumped over, changing the grip on the frame to slam it downwards against his chest. His body jerked with the impact and he groaned as you dropped the metal on him. You made a face to yourself and moved to find Matt.
“You probably just pissed him off more.” He mumbled to you.
You gave a quick shrug and waved him off. You heard Dex yank something off a desk but Matt turned the corner to steal his attention before you could. You shook your head in disappointment as Matt was launched into the desk behind him so you went the other way.
While Matt and Dex were playing a cat and mouse game, your fingers slipped into your boot for the smoke bomb. You’d be able to see through it with your mask. You figured Matt would be fine, considering you’d seen him fight through worse. Dex was the one you needed it to be an issue for and if your train of thought was right, it would be. You moved the device into your front pocket as you crept through the office space to get to the room.
You stopped when you heard the clatter. Glancing over your shoulder, you saw a shelving unit on top of Matt and Dex slammed his boot down to knock him out.
You looked between a now-unconscious Matt with scissors sticking out of his chest and the door to your friends. Your hands began to shake slightly as you felt that familiar heat of rage crawling up your spine. You tapped your mask to see through the door, finding there was something blocking it along with four bodies huddled in the corner. With a sigh, you stood in front of the door and faced Dex again.
They’d be alright as long as you kept him focused on you, so you took all of Dex’s rage and enjoyment from the prior events and redirected it to be focused solely on you.
“Finally… You learned how to have a little fun.” You spoke simply to egg him on, slipping a hand behind you for a knife - realizing you had dropped your other one - as you feigned ignorance. “What happened to you?”
He answered with a quiet chuckle.
“What now? You try to kill me too? Is that how you treat the woman you love?” You toyed with a pout.
His head cocked to the side before a smile took over. You realized then that Dex didn’t quite know the story of Exodus and Daredevil. Fisk clearly knew, willing to use it as leverage to break you at work. But he didn’t tell Dex everything. It made you wonder exactly how long Fisk planned on using Dex, because that was an easy man to snap.
Maybe you didn't need to break Dex for Fisk. Maybe you needed to break his trust in Fisk. And destroying trust seemed to be one of the things you did best.
You both heard the sirens at the same time and you let out a sign of relief. You had been so focused on keeping Dex away from Jasper and your friends, on ensuring Matt got out alive, you had forgotten that Ray and his team were on the way. All you had to do now was stall for a few more minutes  so you left the knife where it sat at your back.
You reached into your pocket and threw the smoke bomb at Dex’s feet. Once the gray cloud erupted and your lenses adjusted, you pushed through it to slam your knee against his chest. The action forced him back against one of the temporary cubicle walls. He swung a left hook but you caught it, using it as stability to flip over and kick across his jaw. He swung a kick to your stomach as you landed but you spun to avoid it, meeting him with a roundhouse of your own that threw him to the closest desk.
You hurried around the desk as he was pushing himself
up. You put your hands on the back of his head and dropped to a knee, slamming him back down. As you turned away, the edge of the desk jammed into your hip and you were knocked to the floor. You were quickly pinned under Dex’s body weight as one of his hands looped around the strap to your vest. The other landed hard jabs to your face, hits that you were barely able to squirm away from.
You began kicking your foot, trying to knock one of the shock discs out of your boot. You tucked your knees up and shook your foot, turning your head away from his hits in time to see the circular device slip out of your boot. You squeezed your knees together around his waist and threw yourself to the side to put you on top. You leaned and grabbed the disc quickly. You held the tech between your fingers while you pulled your wire between your hands. You pressed the wire against his throat and his hands came around your wrists in a panic.
He coughed and thrashed beneath you but that only
made you press harder. You saw the drops of blood fall from your lips and land against the helmet, red on red to match the color of your vision. You pressed down harder and watched the dark bruise sprout across his throat.
His hands disappeared from your wrists and gripped the straps of your vest. He threw you over and you rolled until your side hit the edge of a cubicle wall. You groaned sharply as the impact vibrated through your old rib injury. You were getting to your hands and knees when a heavy kick slammed into your stomach, making you collapse again.
Another kick that knocked the air out of your lungs.
A third kick that made you cough sharply.
He threw a fourth kick but you turned to catch his foot. You yanked hard and he fell to his back. You slipped the disc under the top edge of your wrap near your knuckles and got up to a knee. Dex was making his way back to his feet so you used the cubicle as leverage to haul yourself up. Once Dex faced you, you threw your entire body weight into a hook that jammed the disc against his jaw. The shock jolted up your arm and you felt the joints throughout it lock up as Dex cried out. He fell to the floor with small convulsions as you felt yourself wobble slightly on your feet. You blinked hard and shook the vertigo away as your vision cleared of the manic haze.
You moved back to the door and as you were reaching for the handle, you heard a metallic clink just before you felt a sharp pain in your hip that caused you to cry out. Looking down, you saw your own discarded knife buried to the hilt at the bend of your leg. You fell against the wall, unable to support your own weight as Dex came over with a smug smirk. He used his foot to push you away from the door before breaking in.
You groaned loudly as you pressed your hand around the wound, moderately scared to try and take the blade out. Instead, you wobbled to your feet and used the door frame to hold yourself up just as you heard the gunshot. Your head snapped up and you saw Dex moving closer to Karen. You noticed a body on the floor from the corner of your eye. You turned slightly and realized it was Foggy. The sight made your knees buckle and you gripped the doorframe even tighter. Nudging the side of your mask with your shoulder, you gave it a second to load. You saw there was a heartbeat and you let out a soft sigh of relief. He was alive.
If he hadn’t been, you wouldn’t have hesitated to end Dex then and there.
“Hey!” You called out and his movements stopped, head turning slightly towards you. “You’ve gotta do better than that if you want me dead.”
“Hello, Karen. It’s nice to see you again.” Dex told her calmly and the sentence puzzled you.
Your moment’s confusion allowed him to get a hand around your throat and force you out the room, coughing and gagging as his grip grew tighter. You heard Karen calling for you but you took the concern she directed at you and moved it towards Matt, though you ensured there was enough fear in her to keep her from moving until you had Dex’s sole attention. Dex pulled you closer before slamming you into the wall behind you.
He forced you back again and again. You grabbed at his wrist and tried to push your Bites against his neck but he recognized it and slammed you before you could.
“I wasn’t gonna kill you.” He said lowly.
Head bouncing.
“But he said you would get in my way.”
Air forced out of your lungs.
“All for that guy.”
Back slamming.
“All because you love him.”
Rib burning.
“What happened? I thought you were gonna make this fun.”
He threw you to the floor and you coughed roughly, turning to the side to try and give yourself space to move while your throat burned .
His foot forced you to your back and he slammed it down on the Bite you were trying to aim, which so happened to be the one that needed the brace. You winced loudly and he reached down for the knife in your hip. Once his eyes left yours, you reached the other hand for the gun under your arm. You stole Frank’s old move that he used against Matt and pressed the gun against Dex’s forehead.
When you felt the blade move, you pulled the trigger. The loud bang reverberated through the otherwise quiet room, rivaling the sharp cry you released as the blade shifted back to its first position.
He fell off of you and you moved as best you could to Matt and Karen. You reached them and pushed both their heads down while Dex staggered out the room, holding his head and falling occasionally.
“Y/N.” Matt mumbled, reaching for you.
“Yeah… I’m here.” You replied quietly, taking his hands in yours.
“Your leg.”
You offered a small smile, feeling some of your anger and pain melt into a soft sort of sadness. Almost like longing. “Your chest… Are you okay?”
“Are you?”
“Get out of here, okay?” You tried, looking towards the stairs and your lenses showing you Ray’s team coming. “I’ll find you when I can sneak away.”
“No.” He held your hand tighter, a desperation in his touch that made you soft - if only for a second. “No, I’m not- not leaving you.”
“Matt, you have to.” You brought his busted knuckles to your lips. Matt quickly put his hand at the side of your head, pushing his fingers into your hair, and pulled you to him to bring your lips to his. Behind your eyes, things turned a misty lavender when you felt Matt’s thumb running gentle patterns.
“I love you.” He mumbled against your lips. “I’m so sorry I hurt you.”
Something deep in both your chests seem to snap.
“What about that guy?” Karen asked when you two separated, panic clear in her words.
“I’m gonna kill him.” You said simply, giving a determined tilt to your head.
“Y/N.” Karen tried as you stood.
“Nadeem and his team are coming. Just hang tight till he gets here.” You patted her shoulder.
She reached for your hand but you pulled away. You hobbled to the stairwell and braced yourself as you yanked the knife out. A loud yelp left you before you gritted your teeth and forced your anger down, literally. You took the anger bubbling inside - anger at Dex for betraying you, at Matt for nearly getting himself killed, at Ray for not getting there in time, at Fisk for stealing your partner, at yourself for falling so far behind in Fisk’s game - and directed it down to your joint so the wound would heat itself while you wiped the blade against the exposed bottom of your shirt. The burning made you close your eyes tight and ground your teeth so hard you thought you’d break them. When your leg no longer stung, you pushed yourself up and kept going with your bloody knife gripped tight.
When you threw the door open, you saw Dex climbing the railing. You kicked Ray’s gun from his hand and slammed your shoulder into his chest to send him tumbling a few stairs, rendering him unable to follow or attack you, before vaulting yourself over the side. Both feet collided with Dex and you two tumbled down the stairs. When you two finally landed, with you on top with a knee against the center of his chest, you jammed your knife between the protections of his suit and he shouted loudly in pain.
“I’m leaving you alive to deliver a message.” You threatened, grabbing him by the chin to force him to look at you. “Tell your boss that I’m coming for him. And when I get to him, he’s as good as dead.”
“You’ll never get the chance.” He coughed.
You smiled slightly and twisted your knife, making him grab your hand in a panic.
“Try me.” You yanked your blade out and took off, hooking a wire around the bar before jumping the railing.
When your feet hit the ground, you flicked the wire to release it. You tucked it back into place and hurried back to your car, checking your surroundings before changing back into your original shirt and jacket. You wiped the blood off your hands and face as best you could and tucked your accessories under your seat before making your way back to the building.
You went right back up to the floor you left Karen on and found Ray in the room with her. Evans’ body was on the floor while two agents talked over him. An agent was checking on Ellison. Foggy was on Karen’s other side and Ray grabbed your arm to pull you aside. Your eyes didn’t leave your friends and they caught your gaze as you pulled. They both gave short nods that they were okay, but their concern for your well-being was more prevalent.
“Where the hell were you?” He asked tightly.
“Are they okay?” You asked instead, finally breaking eye contact to look at Ray. “My friends, Nelson and Page. Are they alright?”
He looked over his shoulder and sighed before facing you again. “Yeah, they’re fine. Nelson’s probably gonna have a black eye but other than that..”
“I was trying to help evac the lower floors while I waited for you.” You lied easily. “I couldn’t figure out what was going on and then- ” You gestured to the cut on your forehead.
”Ah shit. You good?” His eyes flicked between yours to gauge your awareness.
“Yeah, just knocked me down for a few seconds. I got up here as soon as I woke up. You see anything?”
“Yeah… Daredevil and his little girlfriend did this.”
“I saw a red suit but I thought I was hallucinating.” Your brows furrowed. “I would think those two would want Fisk locked up again more than anyone. This would’ve been the ticket to do it.”
“Maybe.” He nodded. “But how much you wanna bet they wanna be the ones to do it?”
“I doubt it matters who does it.” You made a face to yourself. “They don’t seem like the type that need the glory and the headlines.”
“I don’t think all of this was part of their plan. Not the girl’s at least.”
“What do you mean?”
“Cause she went after Daredevil. And not in a ‘my partner’s leaving me behind’ kind of way. It was like she was trying to take him down.”
“If Daredevil’s gone off the rails, she wouldn’t hesitate to stop him.” You agreed. “She’s probably the best qualified if we’re being honest. She can track him, contact him, and beat him better than any of us can.”
“Question now is why'd he snap.”
“If he snapped.”
“What do you mean?” His head tilted in interest. “You don’t think he’s lost it?”
“I’m from Hell’s Kitchen, right?” You explained and he nodded along. “I’ve seen this guy work. I’ve seen both of them work. This?” You gestured around. “This isn’t how they work. Not even the girl.”
“What are you trynna say?”
You glanced around, noted the puddles of blood from reporters. The trashed office scene. Pencils and pens stuck into the bottom of overturned desks. Shattered computer screens and fallen lights. Torn papers and loose cables. You sighed and turned back to Ray.
“I don’t know.” You lied. “But something doesn’t feel right about this.”

A/N: here’s hoping tomorrow we have a little more Matt in our lives. If not imma blow a goddamn gasket.
Pt. 1 Guessing Game.
Pt. 3 The Test
DD Masterlist
Tumblr media
Matt knew you finding out about his being Daredevil could only cause trouble. There was no other way around it. You knowing had been trouble of the highest order, and you find newer, weirder, ways to prove it every day. Trouble of the highest order. Your jokes only got worse and more frequent, but when you meet all his vigilante friends, putting them in their place seemed to be your new favorite pastime. You first proved it with Spider-Man.
Stumbling in at four AM should mean waking you, but for some reason, you were awake. If he had to guess, you were reading over court documents that he told you needed reading three months ago, and you were just now reading them, but that didn’t matter. Matt could smell the sleep on your skin, the melatonin your body was producing changing your normal functions just enough to give him a sense of your sheer exhaustion. your tiny cold shivers even though the apartment was fairly warm, your tear stained cheeks from yawning, your glacial typing speed, the signs radiated from where you sat. You smelled of him, his shampoo and body wash, his shirt he wore to laze around the apartment yesterday, your deodorant and perfume that you always insisted on wearing at all times, it screamed of comfort, a radiating beacon of calm nestled into his couch and all he wanted to do was bury himself in it. Instead, he carried with him a half dead Spider-Man and an open wound you were gonna probably need to stitch. They had just finished stopping a robbery at a butcher in the seedy end of Hell’s Kitchen, but they hadn’t managed to catch the bad guy, who was insanely good with a knife. He roughed them up pretty bad, and this is how they appeared to you after that fight.
“Well holy shit!” You cried out when you noticed them, clutching your chest, shocked. Your heart rate had skyrocketed, you were blushing, and your blanket had fallen to the ground. So, if Matt knew you like he thought, It wasn’t the fact that he was injured, or that Spider-Man was injured either he presumed, it was probably because you were- “I’m like… half naked, so if your little vigilante buddy doesn’t have your same proclivities, I’m gonna put on pants and brb.”
“I’m sorry!” Peter groaned and smacked a hand over his eyes. Matt dropped him on the couch and flung his mask in the general direction of his trunk.
“Don’t apologize, Matt is always-“ you paused, registering Peter’s tone of voice, his countenance that you hadn’t really picked up on before. “Oh my god. Matthew Michael Murdock, is that a fucking child?” Matt cringed and he could feel Peter do the same.
“Uh… no?” Matt tried, knowing that there would be no way to fool you into belief that Peter was a big boy superhero, who could lift a truck with ease if he wanted, now to you he was a tiny little baby who you would attempt to adopt like a stray cat.
“You’re a shit liar, and your whole life depends on it.” She grumbled grumpily, and Matt smiled even though he should be irritated. He was in fact, not a shit liar, you were just really good at reading him, and it gave him some sort of warm fuzzy feeling in his chest.
“No ma’am, he’s not lying! I just turned 18!” Peter tried to butt in helpfully, but he really was only making it worse. You groaned and Matt winced.
“This is so wrong. You, spider boy, take your hand off your face, you’re bleeding there and we got no idea where your hands have been.” You barked, pulling a first aid kit from under your sink and marching to the couch. “Move sexy, you’re next.” You said smacking his ass and making Peter giggle. He rolled his sightless eyes again, and went to the bedroom looking to shower and change while you sorted out first aid and clothing for Peter, he was starting to realize that you were totally gonna adopt the kid, and he wasn’t ready to be a vigilante father. A shower would help him organize a strategy to get you to back off, but he also forgets that you’re a lawyer too. Should have given up while he was ahead. By the time he got out, Peter had his head in your lap and was laughing through a wince as you stitched up a cut near his hairline.
“So, you recognized him bec-“ he was cut off by you snipping the last of the thread and gesticulating wildly.
“Listen kid, that ass don’t quit! Wether it’s jeans, a dress suit, the devil suit, the black suit, the new one, and god help me if he’s in his stupid silk boxers, it’s like a homing beacon. Round, perfect, and don’t get me started on his thi-“
“Baby! He’s 18!” Matt blushed and Peter only laughed harder.
“Yeah, and I’m teaching art history, Martholomew! High schoolers are all about that shit!” You tapped twice gently on the table, giving him your little winking signal to tell him you’re joking, it instantly made him smile. Everyone has a gift, yours just so happens to be cutting tension.
When you were in court, that smart mouth and keen wit of yours was a killer weapon, often winning you many a case, but when you used it to talk people out of their gloom, it was a beautiful bloom of spring, and Matt was thrilled to be the one that got to hear your musings on a regular basis. You made the smallest of phrases poetry, the finest of details something so titular to a sentence he forgets exactly where your point began and his ended. You were a true wordsmith. He loved it even more when you became a real comedian with those talents, only you having the ability to pull from him such belly laughs that left him in tears for hours from just one off handed joke you barely thought about. Your mind fascinated him, and he hoped to spend his whole life exploring its depths. Right now though? Right now he needed you to stop telling the boy wonder about how hot his thighs were.
“Our father in heaven woman-“ Matt grumbled and you gasped.
“Mattnelius!” You smacked a hand over your moth and chest. “That sounded very close to Blasphemy! And with a child present! You should be ashamed! I’m so sorry for his behavior Peter! Go shower, I’ll find you clothes.” You patted his arm and shooed him from your lap.
“No it’s okay, I’ll ju-“
“Baby we can’t-“
“Boys, I swear to fucking god if you don’t do what I tell you right now I’ll call Foggy, and that girlfriend of yours!” Matt and Peter both straightened up immediately. Peter rushed to the bathroom with a squeaked ‘Yes ma’am!’ and Matt sat next to you with his wound exposed. He sat in silence as you stitched his cut closed, fidgeting with his fingers.
“Honey, he’s not a cat we can’t just-“
“Mathew Michael Murdock, if you say I can’t keep Peter I will go work for Landman and Zach so fast it’ll make your head spin. Now, go get the extra sheets and pillow for the couch while I find the kid some clothes. That’s an order Batman, before Robin goes Jason Fuckin Todd.” You snapped and kissed his cheek aggressively.
“Yes dear.”
The next person you met was Frank Castle, and it was… something. Matt can confidently say that this one was the meeting he was most dreading, it wasn’t like their meeting was ever a good thing, so why would he expect him meeting you would go any better.
Frank was in town hunting down a terrible criminal, Matt knew that. Matt also knew that when Frank hunts somebody down, it’s usually quite explosive. What he didn’t expect, was for his mark to be your client. That client so happens to be the Butcher who’s shop he and Spider-Man stopped someone from robbing. Now that he thinks about it, it was probably Frank. Which means that Butcher probably wanted to eat your liver with a side of Fava beans and a nice Chianti. Yuck. He heard over the police scanner that shots had been fired in the vicinity of the offices of Nelson, Paige, and Murdock as he was out patrolling, and he remembered you saying earlier that you needed to sign and print some paperwork to get back to the judge on your current case. So when a description approximating Frank Castle then came through over the scanner, he booked it to the office. He vaulted in through the window, and there was your client, unconscious in your office, with a bullet wound. Matt would have expected you to be shook up about the whole thing, but instead he heard a shouting match go down.
“No you asshole, I didn’t know he is a fucking serial killer! I’m not omnipotent! Why don’t YOU tell ME what the fuck is going on, because APPARENTLY you LOVE playing God! I mean seriously Castle, what in the name of John Wayne do you think you’re doing? This isn’t the Good the Bad and the goddamn Ugly! You can’t just judge, jury, executioner someone in my goddamn office! Now there’s a fucking bloodstain on my rug, and I’m gonna have to talk to cops! I’m a lawyer and I’m dating a Vigilante Frank, I fuckin hate cops!” Frank’s heart was thudding at an unnatural pace, and he was rooted in place. He was terrified of his tiny girlfriend, and honestly it was hysterical. He couldn’t help but giggle.
“What the fuck Red?” He growled out as Matt stepped over to the unconscious man and proceeded to stop the blood flow so the man didn’t actually bleed out. “Why did you let your girl take him on as a client, are you fucking insane?”
“No, Castle we didn’t kn-“
“IM FUCKING SORRY? Did you just call Matt crazy? Didn’t you shoot him in the fucking head when you first met him?” She fumed and there was an electrical zapping sound, and he felt Frank flinch away from youu. That’s when he noticed that the burnt flesh smell wasn’t coming from the Serial killer, it was coming from-
“I’m sorry, but baby, did you tase Frank!?” He laughed.
“Yeah, that’s why the fucking riddler here isn’t dead!” You huffed, kicking the now groaning criminal in the head to knock him back out. “I don’t have the time to fill out the goddam paperwork! Now take your buddy Deadshot here, and get the hell out.” You grumble and pick up your phone.
“What are you doing?” Matt tilted his head as you dialed 911.
“Calling the cops Mathew, if I don’t, it’ll look suspicious, and I don’t really want to go in for questioning for my involvement in the murder of an ex client!” You growled, throwing a stapler at Frank that he caught with ease and placed on a filing cabinet.
“Ok Castle, let’s go” Matt grabbed his arm and forced him up the fire escape to the roof of the building.
“No fucking way, I’m going back and-“ He started, but you had just hung up the phone.
“If you don’t get out now, I’ll hand you to the police my godDAMN self, and I’ll make sure I tase you unconscious if I have to lock DD in a closet to do it!” She half shouted, Matt couldn’t see it, but he just knew Frank stood there and glared menacingly. Or well, he did until you flashed your taser at him again.
“FUCK! FINE!” He flinched, crawling out the window.
“Have I told you I love you lately?” Matt grinned, pulling you to him with a sweet kiss.
“No, in fact, you have not.” She huffed and pushed him towards the window. You didn’t have to have super senses to hear the cops pounding up the stairs to your floor. “You owe me Batman, now get out.”
Matt meandered his way to the roof, where Frank was still mumbling and pacing watching his target being loaded into an ambulance while handcuffed to the stretcher.
“Now he’s gonna get a cushy fucking hospital stay, when he could be dead.” Frank grumbled, swiping a hand down his face. “I’ll tell you what though, that old lady of yours? She’s…”
“A keeper? Crazy? Super hot? Yeah,” Matt nodded, crouching on a ledge to hear you and the officers better. You were fake crying, he grinned, you were amazing. “I know.”
“Yeah, that. Seriously though, that taser hurt like a bitch. She’s wild.” He shook his head with a chuckle. “Real set of balls your girl. Tell her I said thanks, and if she gets in my way again I’ll-“
“You’ll what, get tased again? Because sure as fuck aren’t killing me!” She laughed from behind them and Frank flinched. “Now get the hell off my roof, do you need first aid?” When he shook his head no, she reached in her pocket and pulled out a gun.
“It was under my desk, be glad I saw it before they came in. I swear to God Murdock, if you say anything you’re sleeping on the couch.” She grumbled and stomped downstairs.
“Jesus red, she’s a-“
“Goodbye Frank!” Matt laughed, rushing towards a robbery happening two miles away.
Two weeks later had been kidnapped by vampires, and it had everything to do with, you guessed it, that serial killer cannibal you got arrested. Yes, Vampires, Matt could hardly fathom that outcome, let alone take on an army of the undead with just his blind ass and a 17 year old. So, Spider-Man called in the troops. Since everyone loved Peter, and everyone was curious about the woman who tased Frank Castle and lived to tell the tale, they all decided to be helpful without being dicks and Matt was truly grateful. He forgot though, that just because they behaved didn’t mean you would.
You were honestly ok, sure, you were surrounded by a bunch of people calling themselves the hand, there were fucking Vampires apparently, and they kept referring to Matt’s super hot and tragic dead ex girlfriend, but you could handle all that. What you couldn’t handle, was that you had to be in court to plead a very big fucking case that could actually earn you money, and you’re stuck HERE! Damn it all to hell, you told Mathew that the vigilante shit was fine if it didn’t fuck with your day job and now here you were, letting it fuck with YOUR day job. What a bummer. Then came the drugs.
Your mouth can only get you out of so much, and unfortunately, these ninjas were entirely unwilling to speak to the Deposition before risking your drug tests for work. At least they were fun drugs! Clearly, they were going to try and knock you out, but your lovely boyfriends buddies reached you before you got enough in your system to make you pass out. So, instead, you were subjected to very vivid and colorful fight sequences, like your brain was trying to put you in a Tarantino film without all the feet. It was Moonknight who removed the IV, and once he did, he was immediately shot three times, but instead of dying bloodied and broken in your lap like you thought he would, he got back up and kept fighting, the bullets falling to the ground as he went. He kept swirling and smashing heads, ridding the room you were in of Vampires and attempting to free you in the meantime, in moments of downtime you got to introduce yourself a bit.
“Shit dude, you’re like… invincible. DD, has gotta learn that one.” You laughed.
Moonknight cocked his head in your direction and you smiled with a nod. “Sorry I haven’t got you free yet hermosa! Little busy, but when I free up you’re Prioridad número uno!”
“Spanish? Cool, and no worries MoonBoy you keep doing the thing, I can wait. I’m not helpful at the moment anyway, can’t stand and WOAH! You can pull a knife from your chest!? Badass! Devilman needs to know the name of your suit guy.” You gasp as he pulls moondarts from the suit and starts slashing.
“Bueno, yeah, you’re definitely la novia then. My suit guy is an Egyptian god so I’m not thinking he’d like that Hermosa.” He winked and you laughed.
“Ooh cool, so you’re a pagan then? I can dig it.” You nod sagely, though with all the drugs, it doesn’t look it. Jake thinks you look more like a broken bobble head. He can’t help but appreciate the fact you’re not freaking out though, that was impressive.
“No, actually I’m Jewish, or well, Marc is Jewish.” He shrugs, “Same body different people.” He has no goddamn idea why he told you that but your mouth forms an ‘o’ like you get it perfectly and you smile. All the while, Jake is still killing vampires left and right while chaos reigns around them.
“Like the movie with James McAvoy uh… SPLINTER! That’s right, splinter. NO WAIT! SPLIT!” You proclaim with a snap of your fingers. “No wait, that’s probably offensive, that guy in that movie was an asshole. You seem chill. The idea is still there though, multiple people, one brain. Very fun.”
“Si, ¡Exactamente! Damn, nobody has ever gotten it that quick.” He muttered and Steven took over the body, having cleared an opening to get you out of the fray or handed off to the next person.
“Right darling! Let’s get you out that chair here-“ He cut your bonds easily and heaved you to your feet and instantly you almost face planted. “Shite, sorry!” Steven hissed balancing you again, “forgot about the whole being drugged thing!”
“New accent! This must be personality two, Hi personality two!” You smiled and patted his shoulder, missing the first pat but landing the second.
“Yes, it’s Steven, and you just spoke with Jake. Nice to meet you too dear.” He chuckled, throwing you over his shoulder and sprinting towards the stairs. He made it all the way there, slashing and punching and kicking as he went, before he had to set you on the steps to continue smashing heads.
“Sorry sugar, gotta go!” Marc plopped you on the stairs and turned to keep killing vampires.
“That’s ok third person I’m pretty sure is named Marc, I can crawl.” Marc was astounded to see you start taking the stairs on all fours, wandering towards the next vigilante that would inevitably pick you up and move you down the line. Daredevil said you were tough, but knowing and following an abstract objective while stoned wasn’t exactly what he was expecting.
“Goodbye I guess, don’t die.” Marc grumbled and nailed a vampire between the eyes with a moon dart making a wet thud as it struck home.
You, still off your ass on whatever they gave you, crawled slowly up the stairs. You flinched as bodies flew past your head and made sickening thuds on the stairs. “Oof, that had to hurt.” You muttered as one dude hit a railing hard enough to break his spine. Then, two doc martens thudded into your line of site and you looked up, very nervous. “Please don’t be a villain, please don’t be a villain, please don’t be a villain…” you slowly follow the length of the legs and are relieved to see, “Jessica Jones!”
“Hello.” She smirked, and reached down with one hand, snatching you up by the collar and setting you on your feet. “You look like hell, I know all about that.”
“Hey Jess- wow you’re strong as fuck, kinda hot!- please don’t wait no-“ she let go and your knees buckled, you started to fall and you felt a hand reach out and hold you up. You looked to see that that hand belonged to Luke Cage and his other hand was lashing out to throw a vampire over the rails of the platform you were on. “Sorry! I got drugged and I’m not so ready to use my legs yet.” You sighed flopping your head down to stare at your useless, traitorous, appendages.
“S’fine.” Luke said, shoving you away from the fray so you just flop into Jessica’s waiting arms again.
“Horn head said you were chill, but not freakin out while we all fight vampires and you’re on drugs… that’s pretty badass.” Jessica mutters, quickly shoving you back to Luke as she throws a wooden board through a man’s chest. You spark with pride at her compliment. Jessica Jones, super powered PI is impressed by your level headedness. Sick.
“Thanks Jones, your pretty cool yourself. ON YOUR SIX!” You yell and Jessica tosses you to Luke, taking out the scary vampire that almost chewed her face off.
“Thanks for looking out.” Luke grunts catching you under one arms and smoothly pushing you to sit on the wall behind him.
“No worries Mr. Cage!” You mumble. He throws the last two vampires in his way over the rails and then sits next to you to watch Jessica work.
“We’re past formalities, call me Luke.” He stretched his hand out and you just stared at it, limbs still numb. You feel like Westley after Miracle Max brought him back from being mostly dead. It was exhausting.
“God, sorry, I would? But it’s not gonna work right now.” You sigh, Luke nods and puts his hand down, staring at Jess once again. “God, you look like a love sick puppy. You good there?” You flop your head in his direction and he nods.
“Yeah, I just. You guys make it work, why can’t we?” He shakes his head and gestures at Jess and you are bamboozled. Really? Relationship troubles? You’re fighting Vampires, this is life or goddamn death here, the Dr.Phil shit can wait…. Then you think, you know what? Fuck it. You kinda get it. There’s something about an apocalypse that makes people question their lives.
“Can I be honest?” You’re not slurring every other word now, so it must be wearing off. “Matt and I work because we communicate. Now, if I understand Jessica like I think I do from Matt’s stories of her, she is like trying to talk to an errupting volcano. Explosive, hot, and rapidly cooling to immovable rock. You gotta figure out how to be volcano proof. That seems like an impossible task, believe me, I get it. Getting Matt to communicate was like trying to get a camel through the eye of a needle. Hah, bible reference, I gotta remember to tell that one to Foggy. Sorry, not helpful. All this to say, I learned that it’s not hard to pass a camel through the needle, if you make it big and obvious, and unable to over look. It works even better if there’s an oasis on the other side, if you catch my drift, but it’s not impossible, just incredibly inconvenient.” You then pat Luke’s shoulder and nod him back over to his lady love, who was kicking major ass.
Luke processed your words with a nod, honestly? The advice wasn’t bad, it was weird, but accurate. Maybe Matt’s crazy girlfriend was right. Eye of a needle? He could work with that. Then he decided to help Jess before she shoved the needle up his ass for leaving her stranded.
You continued to crawl your way through the chaos, watching the various vigilantes do their various duties around you. The next run in was with Danny Rand. You could tell he was annoying from the jump.
“Hello, can I help?” Danny reached out his glowing fist and punched a vampire through a wall (which was cool), then hoisted you to your feet. “I’m Danny Rand, The Immortal Iron Fist, defender of K’un-Lun, Master of-“ Then you shoved him out of the way of a vampire who wanted to cut his speech super short by putting him in an early grave.
You groaned, “Jesus that was close, you’re mouthy, no offense, I am too. Can I be honest? I’m on a lot of drugs, we’re in a life or death battle with magic vampires, and it’s hard to concentrate when you keep saying shit nobody understands. Learn to shut the hell up. Cool glow hand though, you seem nice. Promise I’ll be less of a bitch when we meet again.” You promptly reached your hands above your head in a grabby motion and let Peter swing you to a balcony nobody could access, you let him set you up with his backpack, which apparently had water in it, and you sat and waited for the battle to be over.
You watched the various hero’s fight, and you were honestly impressed. Now out of harms way, you could truly appreciate how fucking cool your boyfriend was. All the people around him had crazy super powers. A dude who can’t die, a kid that can climb walls, two people with super human strength, and a guy that had a magic glow stick for a fist. All those powers, and your boyfriend still chose to go kick as much ass, if not more, than they were. It was kinda hot, no, let’s be honest. It was very hot. Eventually everyone stopped fighting, Vampires dispatched, regular humans headed to jail, etc. you watched as Matt visibly began to tense again, the panic hitting when he remembered he hadn’t talked to you yet.
“I’m up here baby.” You muttered, rolling your eyes at your lack of ability to help, tapping the metal railing to give him an accurate location. Then he began scaling shelves and running towards you at top speed. “Hey, I’m drugged up, I can’t move. I’m totally numb.” You huff. “It’s ok though, it’s working it’s way out of me but I got no idea what it is.” He bundles you into his arms, and you breath him in, leather and cinnamon, your favorite.
“Oh thank god.” He grumbles burying his face in your hair as you finally manage to flop your arms around his neck. He stood and slung you onto his back, climbing down to where all the other vigilantes stood below you waiting on Matt. “Sweetheart did you meet-“
“Yup! Moonman, not a pagan, is secretly three people, can’t die.” You began pointing them out in turn, “Jess, PI, super strength, super hot. Luke, Bar owner, super strength, needs to work out his love issues. One punch man, glow hand, talks too much. Spidey, my baby, stray cat energy.” You nodded, drug induced loose lips be damned, you were proud of yourself. The vigilantes giggled at their descriptions in turn, even Danny found humor in your little rant. “Did I get em all?”
“Yeah baby, that’s everyone.” Matt laughed, kissing your head and giggling into your hair.
“She still hasn’t met Deadpool!” Danny shrugged, and Matt went rigid.
“Iron Fist, you gotta learn to keep your trap shut.” Matt mumbled.
“Oh god, them in a room would be torture.” Jess groaned.
“I don’t know, I quite like the idea. Sounds like a gas.” Steven shrugged in the Mr. knight suit.
“Sorry DD.” Danny grumbled.
“Oh, He has to meet Robin DD.” Spider-Man chuckled.
“Robin?” Jessica questions, looking at Spider-Man with one unwavering raised brow.
“We call her Robin, because the first time she met DD and figured out his identity, she told him that if she had known sooner she could have been the Robin to his Batman.” Peter grinned and looked at the still giggling couple that was attempting to patch each other’s wounds while denying they needed help, you know, like self righteous vigilantes.
“Ah,‘that’s adorable.” Steven muttered, tying up hostages and making sure their undead friends were gonna stay down this time.
“Yeah, it’s pretty sweet.” Luke nodded, helping Danny drag a mountain of a man to a corner while Jessica and Peter catalogued all of the chemical materials and evidence they could with their Cameras.
“She said I was mouthy.” Danny pouted, and all of the other hero’s in the room dissolved into laughter.
You two were lightly bickering back and fourth as they continued with cleanup and waited for their hostage to wake for interigation.
“DD, I’m fine.” you groan again as he feels at the wounds on your hand and forehead. He knows what you’re saying, but he can’t help but take in your racing heartbeat, the slight stench of fear, the terror trembling off you in waves. You put up a great front, and in the heat of the moment you’re a force to be reckoned with, but now that it’s all over, Matt can tell that leaving you alone while he does his duties to the city would be a grave mistake.
“I know! I know. I’m just-“ he fretted and you cut him off, but subtly clutch his hand tighter.
“You’re just full of nervous energy and ready to beat that guy you need answers from to a pulp. I get it. Go.” You roll your eyes fondly and stand, Matt holding out his arms to catch you as if you were a three year old just learning to walk, and you wobble immediately sinking back to the ground and leaning against the wall. The drugs haven’t fully left your system, it’s clearing up, but it’s not gone yet.
“No. Not while you’re injured, it will have to wait till Peter or Jess can take you ho-“ then his whole body tensed and his nose scrunched as if something just hit his senses with a crowbar and a man in a red and black morph suit—No shock there—with two Katanas and a gun busts into the now relatively calm warehouse.
“Alright! Who do I gotta kill. Point me in the way of Nosferatu, Daddy has some silver bullets and a deer park bottle of holy water, and I’m ready to interview with a vampire this bitch!” He stands, one katana and a bottle of water with a crudely drawn cross on it raised in presentation, at the entrance to the warehouse. When he comes in, He is the most absurd thing you’ve seen all evening, and there’s a guy with a glowing fist in the building. You all pause for a moment just staring at this absurd display of ineptitude, but Matt senses Deadpool assessing the situation, taking it all in, and Matt senses him shift his attention to you, and his muscles relax a bit and a grin stretched the terrible deformed muscle at his mouth, causing his skin to creak. Then, as Matt suspected, you are instantly thrown into fits of giggles. Your in full blown belly laughs, he can hear the way you struggle to breathe through your laughter, senses your abdominal muscles contracting, he can smell the salt of your tears as they run down your face, and for a moment he forgives the lunacy of Wade Wilson, and appreciates just how wonderful it is to hear the sweet sound of your laughter. He is thankful for the subtle loss of tension in your shoulders that Wade has so easily caused, just by being him. Then he smells old enchiladas, stale blood, and gunpowder and is reminded all over again why it is he avoids Deadpool at all costs. He’s an assault on the senses, and he’s a dumbass. If that weren’t reason enough, the man is hardly ever on the right side of the law, or decency, and to top it all off, he’s really fucking annoying. However, in this moment, Wade is sending clear signals that he is ready and willing to be his ally. Maybe Matt would need to rethink his stance on the Mirk with a Mouth.
“Fuck me, I haven’t laughed that hard in a while, and I just met a guy whose superpower is that he punches real good with just one fist.” You giggle into Matt’s ear and he can’t help but chuckle a bit as well, using this as an excuse to bury his nose in your hair, attempting to cover up the stench of Deadpool’s disgusting suit. “Who the hell are you, and how do we become friends? Also, they fuck the vampires in interview with a vampire, they don’t kill them. You’re thinking of Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.” You laugh brightly and thrust you’d hand out to be shaken. Matt resists the urge to smack that hand away from the bacteria infested glove, but is genuinely thrilled to hear the rustle of a glove being pulled from a hand as Deadpool receives your handshake.
“Well that’s easy pretty lady, you don’t fuck with me and I, won’t fuck with you. So are you the crazy bitch who tased Frank Castle or is DD here in for a few million Hail Marys?” Matt is baffled. Honestly, he is. Deadpool came in ready for a fight, and in a need for ardent chaos, and he was actually startled at how collected and calm he was in bantering back and forth with you. Totally at his ease in the steady, witty banter. It’s like you had stopped him in his tracks. Matt kept a close ear on your conversation as he began to help the rest of the group.
“So does he wear the horns when you do the deed, or do they only come out for birthdays and anniversaries?” Deadpool sits cross legged beside you, which is when Wade silently shoos him away. Why should he deal with all the boring stuff when there was a beautiful and interesting woman he could be talking to.
“Oh Mr.Pool, a lady never sucks and tells, but that Mask is pretty hot. The suit does nothing for his ass though.” You scrunch your nose and shake your head, and Wade snorts a laugh while Matt walks away to go deal with the rest of the group.
“He got a nice ass under all that pleather?” Wade huffs.
“Like you wouldn’t BELIEVE man. He’s honestly the sexiest man I know.” Matt shakes his head at your ardent praise with a big silly grin, and Jess bumps her shoulder with his with a breathy chuckle, handing him an unknown chemical for him to identify.
“Well, you’re in the company of absolute beauty now, you wouldn’t even believe how hot I am under here.” Matt can hear Spider-Man chuckling now and shaking his head, and he hears Moonknight mumble about what a lie that was.
“Oh really? Well, secret identities be damned, let’s get a peek at that face huh?” You laugh, and Matt hears the rustling of Fabric as Wade pulls off his mask. He can hear Danny hiss and feel Luke cringe as Wade’s face is revealed. He notes with pride that you never flinch.
“Oh god, Ha! You look like an Orc’s terrible premature love child with the corpse of Ryan Reynolds.” You laugh for a second, then stop when you realize Wade is staring at you slack jawed. “Oh! I’m sorry was that rud-“ you begin to fret, but Wade cyst you off with a boisterous laugh of his own.
“That is the funniest shit I’ve heard all day.”
You and Wade kept up the conversation, while the others began to clean up and categorize evidence. When it came to Vampires and the supernatural, the police were no help so the whole of Justice squarely rests on those who had the power to handle it. They were all biding their time and waiting on their hostage, they had officially gotten everything squared away, Spider-Man had called SHEILD to dispose of the Vampires, and now they sat in comfortable conversation, waiting for backup. When Matt began to hear their hostage stir, he alerted the others, and then they Started bickering over who should do what. It was getting pretty heated until you spoke with a finality that meant business.
“No! Webs can take me home, Moonknight and DD can handle the interrogation, Deadpool and Iron Fist can wipe out any stragglers (because I’m pretty sure some of them are playing dead.), Jess and Luke can handle shield, and then the spiderling can swing back here to help you finish the mission.” Your instructions were met with whining and protest (except for Matt, who knew better than to argue when you meant business), but you weren’t having it. “Oh! I’m fucking sorry, did I ask for all the whining? Or are you all a big group of superpower wielding toddlers!?” You snapped and everyone looked either impressed or properly chastened.
“No you’re right.”
“I guess we can-”
“I’ll get to use my holy water after all!” Came the murmur of replies.
“Good, now hop to it. Take me home spider boy!” You reach your arms out to Peter and he swings you up and out of the building leaving the rest of the hero’s to their own devices. About forty five minutes later, Peter comes back as they plan out what to do about the rest of the vampire problem, and what next steps need to be taken to solve it. All in all, it takes about two hours for Matt to make his way back to you, and when he does, you’re fast asleep. The shield agents reassured him that you just needed to sleep off whatever they gave you, and his other vigilante associates all complimented him on having an amazing girlfriend. His chest was swelling with Pride over how well you took things, and how much they admired you. You truly were an amazing woman.
You were sleeping so peacefully, Matt almost elected to take the couch so he wouldn’t risk waking you. He changed, and decided you would be more mad if he didn’t come to bed. He slips in next to you and preens when you wrap an arm around his waist and sling a leg over his hips. He nuzzles into your hair and cuddles you close, grinning at how wonderful you are to be lying there next to him. “Hi Angel, you ok?”
“Yeah Matty, ‘m fine. Just sleepy s’all.” You yawn so hard your eyes water, and Matt ‘awes’ placing a soft kiss to your crown.
“Well I’d say so, it’s not easy being Robin.” He huffs a laugh and you kiss him just below his collar bone.
“Oh yeah, I’m tough shit, might just graduate to Nightwing.” You mumble.
“Sure, sweetheart, whatever you want.” Then you mumble something into his chest he doesn’t quite catch, and he asks you to repeat yourself.
“Nah, I’ll stay Robin, I could never ditch my Batman, I love him too much.” Matt’s heart swells to bursting and he almost tears up at the weirdly sweet sentiment.
“I love you too Robin, I love you too.”

hello!!
could i possibly request a matt drabble/headcannons with a reader who has spiderman powers?? love your work xx
✨join the celebration!✨
Ooh yes
This isn’t super romantic?? Or?? I don’t even know what this is but it’s cute
So consider this: Matt knows about Peter, right? But does he know that Peter accidentally opened up a portal to another timeline?? No. Does he know Strange keeps fucking around and finding out? Maybe, but it doesn’t effect Hells Kitchen so he doesn’t care
Someone accidentally opens another portal to another timeline, and out spits you, your universe’s Spider Hero, right in the middle of Hell’s Kitchen
He pretty much immediately knows you’re there because you give off the same feeling that Spider-Man does
But you smell different; your webbing sounds different. You’re just…it’s different and he doesn’t understand why
Until he meets you ofc
And then he realizes that it’s not Spider-Man-the annoying-guy-that-doesn’t-stop-talking
But it’s Spider-Man? Spider Person? Spider something, but your heartbeat is slightly off. And your voice is clearly not as grating as Peter’s is
More importantly, you don’t talk a lot. Well, no. You do. You’re probably just as annoying as his Spider-Man but you have a legitimate reason
You end up explaining that you fell through a portal, having been in a fight with your universe’s Dr. Strange who happened to be evil and got stuck here
Matt doesn’t initially believe it but then considers the absolute shit show things have been since the Blip, he just…he runs with it, honestly
He offers to let you crash with him because??? Where the fuck else are you gonna go
Jokes that he’s blind so you can off your mask in peace
“Wait, are you also a lawyer?”
“…why?”
“There’s this blind lawyer in my Hell’s Kitchen! Except he’s an asshole. People use him to sue superheroes.”
Matt considers taking on cases to sue the Avengers but decides against it
You two spend a solid week trying to get you home before Matt suggests he take you to Strange
There’s not a single fucking brain cell between you two I’m sorry
“Why didn’t we think of that a week ago?”
“I was distracted by the whole blind, leather wearing ninja thing you have going on.”
Matt comes to the conclusion that he’d really rather have you around than his Spidey, mostly because you are clearly an adult
You’re also pretty (he assumes, at least). Your voice is soft, and confident. And you’re funny, which is nice to have around
But he really just likes you
So when Strange promises he can open a portal with careful prep, Matt insists on taking you out one time before you go
“You’re asking me on a date, before I go back to my universe?”
“It’s a good excuse not to call me?”
It’s cute. You’re won over.

Can you do a Spider Devil (Spideydevil?) Matt/Peter hurt-comfort using the prompt “I didn’t know where else to go.” or “Are you afraid to die?” in TASM 2 after gwen dies. Or just a spideydevil/Spiderdevil story in general. I loved your other one and I love your spiderfist stories.
I'm always down for spideydevil, but my mind always wants to smoosh different universes together (well, for most marvel stuff my brain does that). Anyway, sorry for the wait :) and I apologize for the angst (no I don't).
Matt knew long before he walked into his flat that someone -no, Peter- was on his couch. As he opened the door he amended it to Peter is curled up on my couch. It wasn't totally unusual for a fellow masked hero to show up unannounced, but Peter usually shot him a text first.
And Peter never showed up in his costume.
"Pete?" Matt cautiously approached, taking in the way his friend's arms held his legs to his chest. He smelled like sweat and adrenaline, a mix of dirt and a blood- and salt. Tears.
He was awake, his breathing coming in shallow rasps and his heart rate was erratic. But he didn't answer Matt's cautious call.
"Hey," Matt tried again as he stood awkwardly in front of Peter.
Peter drew a few shaky breaths and lifted his head from his knees. "I didn't know where else to go."
The words were thick with emotion, Peter sounded so lost, so utterly broke, and Matt didn't know how to respond. He wanted to pull his friend into his arms and whisper sweet nothings, tell him everything would be okay, that he was safe- and loved.
Instead, he sat a safe distance away, resisting the constant urge he had to touch.
Not that his self restraint mattered; the moment Matt’s back hit the cushion Peter was across the couch and wrapped around his side. He could feel the wetness where Peter's head rested on his shoulder and Matt snaked an arm around to hold him close, to make him feel safe.
Still in the dark about what had Peter so distraught, Matt could only hold him and wait. His heart constricted as he felt another tremor against his side. How long had he been in love with this man? In love and hopeless to do anything about it, doomed to only be friends, colleagues, watching from the sidelines as Peter fell in love with a beautiful woman. How long?
How long, indeed. Was it the moment Peter walked into his Econ class, radiating the type of brightness only a freshman could? And how he never lost his eagerness, even surrounded by jaded students like Matt? Maybe that was the beginning of his downfall. Was it the day Peter showed up to his dorm with coffee and pizza at midnight when Foggy and Matt were both sick and studying for an exam? It could have been the first time he fought side by side with Spider-Man since meeting Peter and recognized Peter's heartbeat when he held him close as they swung  over the city. That had been a friendship changing revelation, afterall.
Looking back, he couldn't pick out a single moment which made him fall in love, but he did know the moment he had actually realized it. It was the last final of Matt’s spring semester and he was feeling good as he walked out of the exam room. Foggy was in exams the rest of the afternoon, so he made his way to Peter's dorm- and his own doom.
He'd met Gwen before, seen her around the campus, so he recognized her easily enough as the person standing in front of Peter as he approached. She'd been introduced to him as Peter's friend from highschool, but, judging by the way her lips were pressed against his, she now seemed to be more.
How embarrassing that it took the dark tendril of jealousy to realize his feelings for Peter. No one ever accused Matt of being good at self reflection.
Peter shifted and sniffled, pulling Matt back to the present. His hair was soft in his fingers- just when had he moved his hand to Peter's head? Matt continued to softly card his fingers through Peter's hair, feeling guilty for taking such a liberty even if it seemed to help Peter relax.
"Are you afraid to die?" Was not what Matt was expecting Peter to say. But the hoarse words hovered between them, demanding a response Matt wasn't sure how to give. Was that what had Peter upset? A close call? They had those daily.
He wanted to ask, demand, yell and curse, until he got an answer from Peter. But, his friend, his love, seemed so fragile, ready to break completely, into so many peices he may never be put back together completely.
So, instead, Matt was honest. "Yes." He hesitated before continuing, "But I'm more afraid of losing those close to me."
He meant for it to make Peter feel better, loved, and safe. Instead, Peter pressed his head harder into Matt’s shoulder and openly wept, a heartwrenching sound echoing through the quiet apartment.
Matt held Peter until his breathing evened out and his body relaxed as sleep claimed him.
_______
He made coffee at 9am, hoping the smell would rouse Peter. His back was a little stiff from the few hours of sleep he managed on the couch, but he paid it no mind, his thoughts too focused on Peter.
He felt Peter get up before he heard him, and pressed a mug into his hands as he entered the kitchen.
"I'm glad you can't see how shit I look." Peter held the mug with both hands and leaned against the counter. "Sorry for… this. For last night."
Matt shook his head, he didn't have the heart to tell Peter that he could feel the moisture on his cheeks. "I'm always here for you, Pete. Do you want any breakfast? I think I still have some eggs."
He pushed down the urge to demand answers, ask who he should direct his rage toward for Peter's state the night before.
"I… no." Peter turned towards him, his heart rate spiking. As words began to tumble out, so did fresh tears. Peter haltingly told Matt the events of the previous night, and as his story continued, began to include Gwen, Matt could only listen as a cold pit formed in his stomach.
It took all of Matt’s willpower to remain where he was, to not close the distance and pull Peter against him, hold him so tight he couldn't ever leave, couldn't continue to tell him this horrible story. He didn't, couldn't. Peter wanted to, needed to, tell him. And by the end of his retelling, reliving Gwen's death, Peter was a blubbering mess, and Matt’s willpower broke.
He couldn't fix it, couldn't turn back time or raise the dead. He could only hold Peter close, his heart heavy as he sobbed into his chest. There was nothing Matt could say or do to heal Peter's pain, and he briefly wondered if even time could. Peter lost the woman he loved, and clearly blamed himself more than the villain- and Matt couldn't say he would feel any different if their positions were flipped, if it had been Peter falling and Matt hadn't been enough.
All he could do was helplessly rub circles on Peter's back, hold him close, and whisper nothings into the top of his head.

in which adrien is a science teacher and has to pay his karma by babysitting a teenager that has his exact same humor when he was 15.
Chapter 2 of Chat Noir Is My Science Teacher is up, friends :D
Ch. 2. Mr. Deep
In which Matt is baby and Adrien begins to pay his karma for being a lil shit when he was younger, with interest.
When Matthieu braced himself for the day, the last thing he expected to happen was learning that Mr. Dupain-Cheng, his science teacher, was none other than his idol, Chat Noir.
Yes, Mr. Dupain-Cheng, the dorky teacher who laughed at his own bad science puns and had a themed t-shirt for every day of the week. Mr. Dupain-Cheng, the man who thought grading with “You Tried” stars and cat stickers was funny. Mr. Dupain-Cheng, who was so gullible he didn’t notice when students wanted to distract him from giving a lesson by asking him about his wife because they knew he could rant about her for hours. Mr. Dupain-Cheng, the only teacher that replied with an ‘ok :)’, a meme, and the signature, ‘Sent from my cat-phone,’ when replying to a well-thought email. That Mr. Dupain-Cheng.
How could this be possible? He was so... so uncool .

He was so... so uncool .
When Matt thought about who Chat Noir might be under his mask he always pictured someone bold and dashing, maybe one of those cool guys that worked in those crazy science startups. Someone brave, fearless... not a father of two who, Matt was pretty sure, screeched one time a flying cockroach somehow crawled from one of the sinks in the lab. He pictured someone like Barbara Keynes or Peter Parker.
They were witty and mysterious. Mr. Dupain-Cheng was too nice to be a superhero.
“Matt!” Timo tackled him into a hug as Matthieu and Mr. Dupain-Cheng joined the rest of the class. Ladybug had finished handing out autographs to his classmates and had already left. “Are you okay? Did you see the Akuma? It was so sick!”
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Matthieu muttered, as Mr. Dupain-Cheng pointedly put as much distance between himself and Matt. He called the class’ attention to continue their museum visit.
“You’re in danger, kid.” His teacher’s words still resounded in Matthieu’s head. “For your own safety, lay low until I decide what to do with this, okay?”
He didn’t give Matt a chance to ask any questions, to say anything. He basically wanted him to ignore this, to act as if he had just found him practicing some obscure hobby outside school.
As they walked, Matt trained his eyes on the back of his teacher’s head, the blond, messy mop of hair towering over the group of teens.
“Hey, Timo?”
“Yeah?”
“Mr. Deep is, like, a nerd, right?”
“Yeah, he’s pretty cool,” Timo said, his attention more invested in his portable video game console than in the conversation. “He knows, like, all the animes.”
“That’s not cool,” said Matt.
“Of course it is,” Timo said, finally peeling his eyes off the screen. “We like that stuff.”
Timo had a point, Matthieu had to admit.
“And remember the time he helped me solder that motherboard we used for the robot competition? That was pretty cool.”
“I... suppose.”
Timo shrugged, blissfully unaware of Matt’s current crisis. “I keep telling you, man,” he said, returning to his videogame. “Mr. Deep is the coolest teacher at school.”
After the field trip, Matt went home stuck in a contemplative trance, wanting to decide what the revelation was that truly bothered him: the fact that Chat Noir’s civilian persona was absolutely nothing like what he had pictured, or that Timo was right and the reason why he disliked Mr. Dupain-Cheng was actually because he looked up to him, and that he embodied the complete opposite of everything Matt was taught to be.
The more he thought about it, the more it made sense, to be honest. As any self-respecting fan, Matthieu knew Chat Noir’s career by heart. He had seen those old clips of him as a teenager, cracking witty jokes and one-liners in the middle of battle. It kind of made sense that he’d grow up to be the kind of man that was unapologetically chaotic. Besides, those memes and punny cat stickers he liked to grade with? Suddenly it seemed all so obvious. It was almost as if Mr. Dupain-Cheng was flaunting the truth in front of everyone, knowing no one would peg him as the kind of man who was a superhero. It was all in the same way no one seemed to understand how on earth such a whacky dude would end up with one of the most successful designers in Paris.
Matt suddenly shot up from the comfort of his bed as he contemplated his thoughts.
Ladybug. Weren’t Ladybug and Chat Noir a couple?
Oh my god, is Mr. Dupain-Cheng cheating on his wife with Ladybug? Or backwards? Wait... Isn’t that famous designer his wife? What’s her name, MDC? No, that’s the brand. Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
Wait.
Does his wife even know? Oh, no... Poor woman! Wait... what if...
Matt gasped. “She’s Ladybug. She has to be.”
He paced around his room, his thoughts going a thousand miles an hour. “I can never let Hawkmoth akumatize me ever again,” he screeched, grabbing handfuls of his hair. “Oh my god!” he shrieked. “Okay, Matt, breathe. Breathe. Just... Think. Okay. This can be good, right? This can be good.”
He kept pacing around.
“Okay, Matt. Okay. You just figured out that Mr. Deep is Chat Noir and his wife is Ladybug... Cool, it’s all cool,” he said to himself in a pitch heightened by the sheer panic that coursed through him. “It’s okay, it’s—.”
He suddenly stopped dead in his tracks as inspiration struck. He gasped excitedly and immediately got on his knees to reach under his bed.
“Of course!” he exclaimed, pulling out a small corkboard he kept hidden under the bed. The board was an indulgent little project if he did say so himself. It wasn’t related to any of his school activities, which is why he had to keep it hidden. Goodness knows what his parents would do if they found out he had been wasting time investigating who Hawkmoth might be.
This wasn’t bad, this was great!
I can help him! Matt thought excitedly. I can help him and Ladybug track Hawkmoth down!
He took a few shots of it with his phone to then ferociously kick it out of view, back under the bed again, when his mother entered his room.
“What are you doing on the floor, Matthieu?” Mrs. Magan, a middle-aged woman with stern eyes, said to him.
“I... lost a coin.”
Mrs. Magan frowned, not making much of the excuse. “Dinner is ready.”
Matthieu let out a silent sigh of relief as his mother turned around, then quickly followed after her, knowing better than to have her remind him a second time.
I can help him, he thought again excitedly. I can be his sidekick!
—-
Matthieu was not one to be late for school, but the day after discovering Mr. Deep’s identity he decided to be extra early, just to make sure he’d be able to talk to him in private. There was always the risk that he’d be late of course, but now that Matthieu knew the reason, he could hardly hold it against him.
Matt was lucky enough to spot him in the Chemistry lab when he arrived. He peeked through the small window on the door. it seemed he was grading papers.
He grinned and immediately went in, hardly being able to contain his excitement.
“Good morning, Mr. Dupain-Cheng!” he exclaimed enthusiastically, causing Adrien to jolt and knock some of the paper sheets to the ground. Matt rushed to pick them up before Adrien had the chance to do so. “So listen, I have thoughts ,” he said as he put the papers back on the desk and fumbled with his backpack to produce his phone. “I was up all night updating my Hawkmoth board, and I was thinking—I was thinking that maybe, you know this philanthropist, Lila Rossi—”
Adrien could only stare dumbfounded at how fast Matt rambled before he even caught the drift of what he was saying. Once he registered it though, he jolted once again.
“Shh!” Adrien hushed at the teen, frantically looking around himself to see if anyone was in the vicinity—even though the door was closed.
“Matthieu, what are you talking about?” he hissed.
“I wanna help you track Hawkmoth!” Matthieu piped with a bright smile, reaching into his backpack again to produce his phone. “Last night, I was thinking, ‘Hey, maybe this happened for a reason.’ I’m pretty good at this whole deduction thing, you know? I’m at the top of the class in almost all subjects and I have like, all the badges possible on the Ladyblog. Also, look, I have this board that I made about all the possible suspects because if you look at the akumatizations there’s a real pattern, and I’m thinking that whoever Hawkmoth might be, has some stuff to work through, because oh my god. Oh, like, this person he—”
“Matthieu, keep your voice down!” Adrien interrupted him. “No! I can’t let you do that. What happened yesterday was an accident, kid. Okay? It’s best if you just... If you just try to pretend like you don’t know anything while Ladybug and I decide what to do. This isn’t a game, Matt. You are in danger. If Hawkmoth ever lays hands on you, there’s no telling what might happen. Stay. Away. From. This.”
Undeterred by the ominous delivery of Mr. Dupain-Cheng’s warning, Matthieu beamed at him. “Don’t worry, Mr. Deep! I’m good at keeping secrets! I—”
“No. It is out of the question, Matthieu. This is dangerous and I—wait, what did you just call me?” Adrien said, suddenly catching the nickname.
Matthieu grew red in the face and smiled sheepishly at his teacher. “Mr. Deep... You know, ‘cause you’re always, like, going off these crazy deep tangents about the physics of akumas and stuff and—Oh my god, that makes so much sense now! Do you study them in your free time? Oh, wow! Do you and Miss Ladybug have a secret layer? Like Majestia and Knight Owl? Wait, actually, don’t answer that. Sensitive information, am I right? Oh! Also, I think Mr. Deep really fits you because you always give us this weirdly specific and deep life advice? And I don’t know how you do it but it’s always on point? Also, your name starts with a D...”
Adrien looked at the boy, shocked, and frankly a little scared that a kid could talk so much, so fast. There’s only one other person he had ever known whose mouth ran like a broken faucet if she was given the chance.
Wait , Adrien thought. Did... did he just pun with my name?
A part of him was flattered, another was surprised, a third one was slightly insulted.
The kid punned with my name. I’m his teacher !
“Matt!” he exclaimed, interrupting Matthieu’s spoken stream of consciousness. “No. This is final. Stay away from this. I don’t want to have to repeat myself. It is final.”
Again, unfazed by Adrien’s effort to act seriously, Matthieu beamed at him. “Don’t worry, Mr. Deep. I’ll prove you can trust me! I would not trust me, too, if I were you. But I’ll prove it! You’ll see.”
The bell rang, and with it came a thankful end to the conversation. At least on Adrien’s side.
“And don’t call me Mr. Deep.”
“Okay, Mr. Deep!” Matthieu said, beaming at him as he made his way out of the classroom. “Oops! I mean, Mr. DC.”
Adrien sighed, glaring at the boy and feeling some sort of karmic entity laughing at him. He knew exactly what Matt’s energetic yet jesterly energy reminded him of: a sixteen-year-old version of himself whose favorite pastime was seeing how much foolery he could get away with before Ladybug decided to murder him in cold blood.
“It’s your karma,” Plagg muttered quietly before his students began pouring into the classroom. “Kid’s your spitting image. Though I gotta say, he blabbers as much as Spots.”
“Oh, shush it!”
“You know you have to tell her soon, right?” Plagg muttered from inside Adrien’s overshirt. “The more you delay, the deeper your grave.”
“I said shush.”
The little god snickered. “Someone’s in trouble.”
Plagg was right, though. Adrien had to tell Marinette about this. It was already bad that he didn’t tell her the moment it happened. She hated it when he did that. But in his defense, he knew she had a tough day at the label and he didn’t want to freak her out. He hoped that excuse would be enough. Plagg had laughed at him when he asked for his opinion about it.
Yeah, he was in trouble.
There was no way but through, he knew this. That didn’t mean his legs could tell the difference between an honest conversation with his life partner and the visceral fear for his survival that was elicited at the image of said conversation. He felt them buckle as he casually leaned against the kitchen island, trying his best to act natural.
The kids had been put to bed and there was thankfully no Akuma in sight. At least not yet.
Marinette sighed with relief as she swiftly undid her hair and reached into the fridge for a bottle of wine. If Adrien hadn’t been so terrified by what he was about to do, he’d allow himself to swoon at her.
Witnessing Marinette shed the tiredness of the day as she swapped into comfortable clothes—usually loose shirts and yoga pants— and poured her drink of choice was one of his favorite things to watch. It didn’t matter that they had been living together for a little over seven years now, he’d never get tired of watching her exist.
“You want some?” Marinette said as she stood on her tiptoes to reach the shelf where they kept the wine glassware.
“Yeah, sure,” Adrien said, then continued speaking after thanking his wife for the wine. “You’ll never guess what happened today.”
“What?” she said, clinking her glass against his before taking the first sip.
“A kid punned with my name.”
Marinette chuckled. “Really? What did he call you?”
“Mr. Deep.”
Marinette snorted as she took another sip from the glass.
“He said it’s because I like to go on deep tangents and because my name starts with a D. Kid can’t pun to save his life.”
Marinette smirked at him. “You’re one to talk.”
He dropped his jaw. “I can’t believe you just asked me for a divorce, m’lady.”
Marinette rolled her eyes and smiled, walking past him on the way to the couch. She placed her wine glass on a small side table and pulled out a sketchbook from one of its drawers. She busied herself reviewing her work while Adrien gathered the courage to nudge the conversation in the direction it needed to go.
“M’lady?” he said from behind her.
“What did you do,” Marinette replied immediately, as she flipped through the pages of the sketchbook.
”I— why do you always assume I did something?”
Marinette turned around and mocked him, then gave him a knowing smirk. “It’s in your tone, Chaton. You can’t lie.”
“I am an excellent liar, I’ll have you know.” He stopped himself from bragging further, seeing as Marinette frowned.
“What is it, Adrien? What happened?”
Adrien’s palms were sweating with anxiety. He gulped. “First of all, I love you and you know that, right?”
“Adrien,” Marinette said, her voice hitching up her tone.
“It’s nothing bad . I mean, it’s a ‘could be worse’ sort of situation.”
“ Adrien !”
“Hypothetically speaking, imagine... what if, er... one of the wielders accidentally revealed himself to someone who, uh, someone who absolutely shouldn’t know? Hypothetically speaking.”
“Adrien, what did you DO ?” Marinette screeched.

Marinette: Iron Man’s Minion: Rising
Over 30 people sent me ask requesting a sequel. I usually don’t do sequels. Its messy and rarely as good as the first. Hoepfully, you like this.
Tony just sighed at sight four kids and his robot picketing his workshop. Rhodey just looked overly pleased. The sun was had rose. He had just finished up for the day. Only to be met with… whatever the hell this was.
Honestly, he hadn’t thought they were serious. At least he didn’t think Peter was serious. Peter was the sweet one; 90 percent of time, he followed Tony’s rules to the letter, never giving too much problems.
…Harley, on the hand, liked to start shit.
“What we want?” Harley called again.
“No curfews!” The other three, Peter, Riri, and Marinette yelled.
           Riri liked to instigate.
As for Marinette, Tony was certain at this point, she just wanted to see the world burn.
“When do we want it?!”
“Now!”
Dummy beamed loudly. A little sign in his claw.
Tony pinched his nose, “I swear to god, Harley.”
Harley smirked, “He says our sugar intake should be limited. I say we want candy. I say Sugar High and Die.”
“Sugar high and Die!”
           Dummy beamed again.
Tony glared at his firstborn, “You can’t even eat.”
“Unlimited lab access!”
“Yes!”
“Breakroom for Interns,” Harley sniped. “We are not Avengers. We shouldn’t have to share with Avengers.”
“Not my Pop tarts!” Riri shouted, a big grin on her face, framed by her wild dark curly locks.
Marinette was having the time of her life, “Death to Baby monitor protocols!” Ever since it was revealed she was Ladybug, Tony put her on the same restrictions at the other teen Heroes. Karen watching her from her new, Stark approved, mask.
The others went nuts. “Death to Baby monitor protocols!”
Rhodey looked smug, “Karma.” He said easily. “For everything you ever put me through at MIT; you have to deal with four versions of yourself.”
Tony narrowed his eyes, “Okay time for the big guns,” He spun around. “PEPPER!” He yelled. “Jarvis get Pepper.”
The kids looked at each other and braced themselves.
“We will not go quietly into the night,” They all said together. “We will not vanish without a fight!”
“Oh my god,” Rhodey said, looking like a five-year-old on Christmas morning. “They’re doing the speech from Independence day!”
“We're going to live on!” The kids said, dummy beeping with them. “We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day
“PEPPER!” Tony screamed again.
First thing, Tony said when the redhead arrived, “Pepper, the minions are revolting. Do something!”
“Well maybe if you didn’t call them minions,” Pepper suggested just looking so done with the world. She could just barely believe Jarvis when he told her the interns, and teen heroes, were protesting. “And why is Rhodey holding a sign?”
Tony huffed, “The twerps called him Uncle Rhodey with those big puppy dogs’ eyes. And he went full traitor!” He explained. “Those things should be weaponized. Fix this!”
Pepper sighed and walked to Harley, the one with the megaphone was usually the leader. She smiled, “Lets negotiate.” This would be easy and over quickly. They were just kids, messing with Tony.
Marinette stepped forward, “Sure,” She smiled pleasantly. “After our lawyer gets here.”
“You’re what now?!!” Tony shouted.
Pepper eyed the bluenette approvingly. “Bring it on!”
Matt Murdock had no idea that when Spiderman called to ask him to his lawyer and defend his rights, that he was talking about Peter Parker’s rights as an intern. He was on the avengers’ roster and most knew he identity. Foggy was confused but elated to test his wits against the force that was Pepper Potts.
The two lawyers sat across from Tony and Pepper. The kids and Rhodey, who Stark called traitor every time he spoke, sat beside them. They were in a conference room at a large table.
Matt began, “Our clients have made their requests very clear. Most of which are easy to employ and some would say are their rights.
“Their minions,” Tony stated. “They don’t have rights.”
Pepper placed a hand on his shoulder, “Never say that again,” She said slowly.
“All employee should have a breakroom,” Foggy stated. “Even interns. It’s non-negotiable.”
Pepper nodded, “Agreed. They will be given their own breakroom; that Jarvis will ensure only fellow interns will have access to.”
“That means Tony can’t go in,” Peter laughed.
“You little shit!”
“Baby monitor protocols are too extreme,” Matt said.
Pepper pinched her nose. “As a hero yourself, Mr. Murdock, you must understand that we in good conscience cannot allow minors, even superpowered minors, to perform their heroics without proper supervision.”
Riri slammed her hands on the table, “I was a little late for curfew and you sent freaking Thor to track me down,” She said accusing to Tony, who looked completely unrepentant. “Thor. A god.”
“Alien,” Rhodey and Tony chimed.
“I snuck out one time,” Peter glared. “And the Avengers crash a house party.”
Pepper winced. That had been a PR mess. “Tony will limit his use of GPS tracking provided all parties adhere to the rules and regulations they originally agreed to when they began their mentorship under Tony.”
“You mean when we sold our souls to the man,” Marinette snipped.
“The-The man?” Tony looked flabbergasted. “No! What?”
The meeting went on for another thirty minutes. It was nearly adjourned when Pepper inquired if there was anything else.
Marinette looked Tony dead in the eyes, “Karen no longer reports to you.”
The other kids blinked in surprise before grinning.
Tony leaned back in his seat, and nodded solemnly, “So its war you want.”
“Oh my god,” Pepper and Matt groaned.
Foggy and Rhodey looked far too entertained for their own goods.
Eventually it was agreed that Karen would report that if they were in any danger and agree to disclose if the young heroes were fine or not. Plus any messages they wanted to relay. Pepper didn’t budge on the candy issue; citing parents had enforced a healthy diet rule on the summer internships. Instead, the kids got a pool table to the breakroom and unlimited healthy snacks for the fridge provided at Stark Industries expense. But they would not dictate what the kids bought on their own.
Marinette had been living at the tower for a month. One morning she decided to make herself her favorite dessert; chocolate and mint AND chocolate and raspberry macrons. She made little over a dozen and had left them in the fridge, a clear ‘Do not Touch’ sign on them.
When she finished with Tony and the other interns for the day, Marinette washed up and rushed to the kitchen to get snacks so she could start binging watching Batman the animated series. However, when she got to the kitchen, opened the fridge, she saw her beloved snacks gone.
Marinette eyes narrowed and she hissed. She marched into the living room and saw the plate she had used lying on the coffee table. The avengers sat watching TV. Marinette picked up the plate, “I made macarons for me. I left them in the fridge with a sign that said do not touch. Someone obviously can’t read. Who did it?”
The heroes shared looks. No one answered.
“I’m not mad,” Marinette promised. It was lie. By the looks on their faces, they knew a trap when they heard it. “I just want to know the truth. I know it can’t have been Tony or Bruce, because they were with me in the workshop. Natasha is out with Pepper. So…”
           Nothing.
Thor shifted uneasily. Bucky blinked innocently at her. Steve gave her a boy-ish grin. Clint looked vaguely terrified. Sam kept eyeing the window like it was an exit. Scott looked seconds away from calling for back up.
“Oh,” Marinette nodded. “It’s like that. Fine then.” With that she marched out of the room in a huff.
When she was gone, Bucky sighed, “She’s going to make us pay for this.”
“One of is just going to go missing,” Sam nodded.
Clint shrugged, “Sorry, Scott.” And went back to watching TV.
“Yea-What?” Scott yelled. “What do you mean Sorry Scott? Why is it me?”
The next morning, the heroes woke up to find… things missing. Steve couldn’t find his shield. Bucky’s arm was gone. Thor’s hammer was missing and would return to matter how much he called for it. Clint’s was missing his custom arrows were. Sam’s AI redwing had vanished. And as far Scott, well…
No matter how much they searched, they couldn’t find their missing stuff.
They all arrived back at the living room, wondering what the hell was going on. They figured one of Tony’s cleaning bots had gone haywire… Again. But that didn’t explain how no one realized it happening. Maybe it was Loki. Still they decided to talk to Tony first. Natasha was with him, and thoroughly amused at the sight of the ruffled men.
The genius had looked confused, “No. My bots are all up to date. They didn’t even clean last night.”
Thor nodded, “Then it was my brother. I shall have to speak with him at once.”
“Wait,” Steve said looking around, “Where’s Scott.”
…And as for Scott? Well, he was missing.
Bucky’s eyes narrowed, “She has him.”
“Well shit,” Clint said. “I was just joking yesterday.”
“I’ll miss the little dude,” Sam whined.
Tony looked around, “What are you? No!” He laughed. “Marinette? Frenchy took your stuff? You’re the world’s greatest heroes! She is a fourteen-year-old girl, you know that, right?” He chuckled. Lil Dominator strikes again.
“Natasha,” Steve sent pleading eyes to the Spider.
“I’ll talk to her,” The Black Widow sighed, “But she’ll never respect you if you don’t fight your corner.” With that, she left to speak with Marinette.
Natasha came back ten minutes later looking rather disgruntled, “She said no.” She told them. “Something about macrons and vengeance. And feeling her wrath. I think you created a supervillain.”
“No,” Tony chimed in. “No supervillany anything. Until she’s twenty-one. It’s in the minion’s contracts” He had made sure to add if after they threated to riot of the good grade addendum; anything lower than a B, and patrol is cut. “She’ll stick to her word.”
“Your interns have contracts?” Clint asked.
Tony just shrugged, “They do now.”
“Let’s all go talk to her,” Steve suggested. “We’ll apologize and everything will good again.”
This caused Tony to cackle. “Yeah, okay!”
The heroes found Marinette on the roof with the other interns. The avengers and the minions eyed each other.
Marinette spoke first, “I want three dozen macrons from the French bakery on 8th street, near Franky’s deli; all chocolate. Then you get your things returned.”
“You can’t just,” Bucky began. “That’s blackmail.”
“Its extortion,” Riri corrected.
“Marinette, how about…” Sam started but Marinette cut him off.
She crossed her arms, “This isn’t negotiable.”
“Where’s Scott?” Clint asked. “How do we know he’s alright? We want proof he’s alive.”
Peter leaned toward Harley, and whispered. “Hey, it sounds like they think we kidnapped him.”
Harley leaned back, “That’s because technically we did. I think we’re a crime syndicate now.” (Peter yelped, “What?!). “Shhh. Just go with it.”
Marinette pulled out a walky talky, and headed it to Clint.
“Hey Scott, you there, over,” Clint asked into the radio.
“Help!” Scott’s voice screamed from the radio. “Giant hamster. Giant mean hamster. Oh god why?”
“He’s name Sir Grumpy paw,” Riri said brightly. “I have to keep him here now. He tried to take out my mom’s cat.”
Bucky just looked at Steve, “Can we just get her the damn macrons.”
“No!” Steve said. “We can find Scott and our things.” He promised. “You’ve gone too far,” he told Marinette.
The bluenette grinned, “Oh captain, I’ve only just begun.”
Steve stalked off with the other guys trailing behind him.
An hour later, Thor was missing...
“She took out a god,” Clint yelled. “Anyone could be next.”
Sam used the radio to try and communicate teammates.
“Good spirits, friends,” Thor said. “I shall conquer the vile beast Sir Grump Paws. And return victorious.”
Bucky was gone by the next hour. “What the fuck is wrong with this hamster?” The greatest assassin in history yelled once they contacted him via radio. “Who taught its fatass how to glare.” It went quiet. “Stevie, I… think it understand English. Shit.”
“Marinette took out the Winter Soldier,” Natasha said with raised eyebrows. “Impressive.”
           Sam went after that.
“Oh god, oh god, oh god,” Sam just kept repeated. “We’re in a maze. Plastic tubes. We’re running. It’s after us, Steve. The hamster is after us.” It went quiet. “… I think it ate Scott.”
Steve sighed, “Can you just talk to her?” He pleaded with Tony, “Clint’s freaked out.”
“Can’t,” Tony said. “Contract. Tony Stark cannot interfere or choose sides in an event of a Minions vs Avengers war.”
“Damn it,” Clint shouted. “This isn’t a war. This is an execution. They’re taking us out one by one, man.”
“Shouldn’t have at her macrons,” Tony smirked, proud of his minions. “She knows it was you by the way.” He told Clint. “She knows you were the one to take them.”
           Clint gulped.
He went missing ten minutes later.
“Cap,” Clint’s voice came from the radio. “We’re going to do it. We’re going after Sir Grump Paws. It’s time. We can’t live like this, not under his reign. That monster has to be stopped. If we don’t make it, just, just… Tell our story. Tell Nat, I’ll miss her. My sister and her kids, they get all my stuff”
Steve just looked up at the ceiling, and just looked so done with the world. He got up and went to find the interns, “What are you demands?”
An hour later, he came back with four dozen macrons, a dozen cupcakes, sticky cheese, peppers, and a pound of gummy worms. He sat the goods on the counter. Natasha, Tony, Rhodey, and Happy looked stunned.
“You… surrendered?” Tony asked perplexed.
“Captain America doesn’t surrender,” Rhodey stated.
Happy shook his head, “You can’t give in, Cap. I know these rugrats. You gotta set boundaries.”
Steve just shrugged, “Eighty percent of our team is missing. They just want junk food.”
“It’s a good trade,” Marinette said as she led the other interns, including Pepper’s intern MJ and tech Intern named Ned, into the kitchen. She held the Captain’s America shield proudly.  Peter carried Bucky’s arm. Thor’s hammer floated behind Riri, carried by Plagg and Trixx. Harley had redwing and Clint’s arrow. The kids placed the weapons down on the table.
However before they could grab the goodies, Steve crossed his arm, “Nope. My friends first!”
“Right behind us,” Riri said.
Suddenly a squeaky voice was heard, “I have vanquished the dreaded foe, Son of Rogers.”
           Everyone looked down.
In five different hamster balls, were the missing avengers, looking like they just fought a war?
“Why are they tiny?” Tony pinched his nose.
Mj shrugged, “How else were they supposed to have gladiatorial death matches with a hamster?”
“Oh, of course,” Tony said sarcastically. “Silly me.”
It took the tiny avengers half an hour to get back to normal. Hamsters were added to the tower’s banned list.
Fury showed up later that day. He glared at the interns, Stark’s minions; Ladybug, Spiderman, Iron Heart, and WarIron, “I’m here to talk to you about the Avengers Initiative.”
“No, you’re not!” Tony yelled from wherever he was.
Marinette woke up a few days later; thirsty. She saw it was close to midnight so she decided to rush to the kitchen to get a glass of milk. As she headed to the kitchen, she saw something out the corner of her eyes that had her quickly backtracking.
In the dining room was Loki, Bucky, Tony, Natasha, Rhodey, Clint, Plagg, Wayzz, and Trixx siting around the table, playing what looked to be poker.
“The girl who tormented by brother and the avengers,” Loki said approvingly. “With a rodent.”
           Marinette nodded, “Deal me in.”
           She’d sleep when she’s dead.
The next day, Steve and Pepper would both find themselves knocking on Marinette’s bedroom door. One to get an arm back. The other the keys to Tony’s Lamborghini. Only to find Thor already there requesting his brother’s helmet back.
Gambling with Marinette was added to the Tower’s banned list.

The Troubles Are Lurking in Queens - Pt.1
Of Arrogant Lawyers and Cheerful… Spider Vigilantes?
Pairing: Matt Murdock x reader        Word count: 1860
Type: Two-shot, reader insert
Warnings: swearing, mention of attempted assault and a gun and a knife, pregnancy, adorable Peter Parker aka your friendly neighbour Spiderman
Summary: When an arrogant lawyer demands his paperwork right now or better yet this very moment, you’re a good wife to Matt and decide to deliver the documents yourself – for your husband’s mental health sake (and for the sake of the meeting he’s running to).
The catch is the said lawyer has his office in Queens – and whoever said Hell’s Kitchen was the least safe place in NYC was clearly lying.
Tumblr media
You were staring at barrel of a gun. And your first thought was: the universe is punishing me for falsifying legal documents.
It happened approximately like this:
“Mr. Davidson-” Matt murmured, massaging the bridge of his nose, giving up the struggle of tying up his tie with one hand. Though that might have had something to do with the fact you snatched the said hand away to do it for him.
“I understand you would like to have the-"
You couldn’t make out a word, but the male voice on the other end sounded downright outraged. This Mr. Davidson had been pissing you off for quite a while; he was the opposite counsel on one of Matt’s cases and he was making everything difficult in the line of paperwork, well-aware Matt was going to dismantle him.
He. Was. Indescribably. Arrogant. Which was something you just couldn’t stand and it drove you up the wall.
“I just don’t have time right— no, I do not have a messenger boy on my disposal just to deliver the documents to you, you can be sure as-" You covered Matt’s mouth before he could swear, gaining a look as grateful as frustrated and wounded.
Oh yeah, you would love to even send this guy to hell and back just to kick him back down there, but Matt had a professional image to maintain. He inhaled deeply.
“Mr. Davidson, I’ll even deliver you the document myself-"
“With coffee and ‘go fuck yourself’…” you hummed as you finished the tie, causing the corners of Matt’s lips twitch.
“-but I just can’t do it before noon.”
Matt listened to the man’s raised voice for a while, grinding his teeth.
You felt really sorry for Matt. And what did a good wife do when feeling sorry for her husband? Helped him.
“I can deliver it.”
Matt shook his head, covering the phone. “I need to print it in non-braille version somewhere and sign it. I don’t have time for that-"
“I can sign it,” you shrugged. Matt’s eyebrow shot up. “What? I saw you sign stuff more times than I can count. It will be fine.”
“That’s a fraud.”
“It stays in a family. I’ll be signing by my own last name.”
Matt’s features softened at the note, but he didn’t change his mind. “That’s still a fraud, sweetheart.”
You pointed at the phone wordlessly; the man on the other end of the was so caught up in his monologue, enchanted by listening to the sound of his own voice, that he didn’t even notice no one was responding.
Matt pouted in an ‘okay, you have a point’ way. His eyebrow furrowed with concern – of course it did. He always worried about you, sometimes for a good reason, however, lately… ever since you two had found out you were going to be parents, a new life growing in your belly… well. Matt was anxious and downright paranoid.
“You would do it?”
“Sure. I could use a walk.” Oh, you could. You might be having a day off, but sitting on a couch all day might actually kill you.
“It’s in Queens.”
“...and a subway ride.”
He still seemed to struggle.
“-are you even listening to me?!”
And that did it. Matt cracked. “Of course, Mr. Davidson. You’ll have the documents before noon.”
“Now was that so hard?”
Matt inhaled sharply and you quickly took the phone from his hand.
“Mr. Murdock put you through to me. I’ll deliver you the documents. It was a pleasure to deal with you, Mr. Davidson,” you chatted sweetly and ended the call. Matt was watching you, pressing his lips together, clearly holding back a smile.
“You’re a mischief.”
He kissed you forehead lovingly.
“Me?” you asked innocently. “I was perfectly polite. He was being a dick. Now, you mean the papers for the Howard’s case, right? Speak fast or you really will be late for your meeting…”
That was how you found yourself on your way to Mr. Davidson’s office in Queens, two copies of whatever paperwork with yours/Matt’s signature and the bloody Google maps app that wasn’t counting on alleyways. And you had about four extra pounds just in your belly, so you really wanted to count any shortcut in.
On a second thought, maybe God was not punishing you for the little fraud with the signatures but for your laziness.
Now you were staring at a barrel of a gun, four pounds of living growing mass of your baby in your belly and you really didn’t know how to fight the mugger off. The memory of Matt’s voice reminding you the first rule – run from the danger – was shushed by a dreamed voice of his that was telling you to just give the thug your fucking purse, because running was not an option in your state and situation; on top of everything, Mr. Davidson’s ‘now was that so hard?’ mocked you and you mentally yelled YES.
“Are you deaf too? Give me your fucking bag!”
“Okay, okay— just… just don’t shoot! I’ll give you my phone and wallet, but I have some legal papers I can’t-”
He shot into air and you jumped, your instinct screaming at you how to disarm him – Matt had taught you how, you had actually done it before, because you fucking lived in Hell’s Kitchen, the most dangerous area in NYC, Matt had taught you for a reason. But another instinct – not to take any risks and protect your baby – was much stronger. You gulped, feeling tears gathering in your eyes.
“Please, just— just don’t hurt me.” Don’t hurt the baby. “Here-"
You barely managed to extend your hand with the handbag when something white curled around the gun – more like cocooned it – and pulled the weapon away.
Both you and your assailant gasped.
“Fuck.”
“Up here, bad guy!” a cheerful male voice called out and you fought the urge to look up, not wanting to leave the still dangerous man out of your sight.
Good thing you didn’t; he pulled out a knife and lunged after you.
You barely dodged the knife and caught his forearm. He seemed surprised at your defence, but let the knife fall, trying to catch it with his free hand. You listened to your first instinct – you deflected the knife before he caught it.
You managed to kick his knee and then his both legs were suddenly tied together with the strange white-- thingie and the thug was pulled away, cursing.
You blinked in shock, looking in the direction he was being dragged. A strange man of not so strong built, dressed in blue and red costu— armour, it must have been an armour, because he was obviously stopping a crime in a dress-up, which made him a vigilante. And as a vigilante wife, you knew vigilantes were in fact not wearing costumes, but armours.
“What kind of a douche attacks a pregnant woman?!” he demanded exasperatedly and with one motion of his wrist, the mugger’s hands were tied too. “Coward!”
And he knocked him out, tossing him aside, looking up at you. What kind of a mask was that? The strange eye area-- and was that a spider emblem on his chest?
He took several steps towards you and you instinctively stumbled back.
This guy might have saved your ass, but he was still a stranger, shooting some white sticky substance from his wrist and he was wearing a spider themed cos- armour and it was really creepy. Which said something considering your own husband was lurking at night dressed like the Devil himself.
“Hey, it’s okay! I’m not gonna hurt you! I promise!”
He held out his hands, showing you they were empty and that he meant no harm. Jesus, he was so thin. Was he even a man? Was he a kid? Like, a teenager? His voice sounded like it still some masculine changes to go through.
“Who are you?” you asked cautiously. ‘How old are you?’
“I came to help! I’m just your friendly neighbour Spiderman!”
The who now? “I’m not... from the neighbourhood. I’m-"
“-BLEEDING! Oh god, oh god. You really showed the guy, but you’re bleeding. Oh god, oh shit— now that’s more money to the swear jar-" the kid, and you were now sure he was a kid, started panicking and you had no idea why, because-- oh.
Your hand was bleeding.
“Oh.”
“Oh god, I have to get you to a hospital-"
You froze. “That’s not necessary-” You didn’t have time for a hospital now. You needed to deliver the stupid papers; your hand had to wait, it didn’t look too deep, you’d be fine. Though it did kinda hurt, how had you missed that?
“What?!” the kid squeaked. “You’re bleeding! I should have done better, oh no-"
You felt a ridiculous urge to comfort him all of sudden, so you crossed the distance, boldly caressing his arm.
“Hey, no, you did great-"
“But you’re bleeding, miss— madam? I should probably go with madam-"
You pressed her lips together so you wouldn’t laugh at his babbling. Had he noticed your ring? Maybe it was your growing belly.
“It’s alright, Spiderman. You saved me from getting shot and mugged, that’s wonderful.”
He looked up. “So you’re not mad at me? Why don’t you want me to take you to the hospital then?”
“Because-"
“Of course! Karen, call mister Stark!” he blurted out, delighted he found a solution.
“What?!”
You wanted to ask who Karen was and where she had been hiding, but Stark’s name kinda caught your attention more urgently. Call Stark? You would hope he was talking about a different Stark, but this kid had some sort of a suit and was playing hero, so-
“It’s okay, he’ll help-” the boy was quick to reassure you, poor kid not having  clue why you did not want to see Tony Stark in the slightest.
“No!”
“He’s a good guy!”
“I don’t need-"
“Oh, Mr. Stark! Thank god. I have a woman— no, not a girlfriend, I mean-- no, not an experimental intimate stuff mentor-"
You almost choked on your own spit. Now you had no doubt he was talking to Tony freaking Stark, because he would make a remark like that. Wonderful. You hadn’t been interacting too much with Tony; in fact, you had only met once, the meeting being pretty intense, with blood, kidnapping and stuff.
“An injured one! She was almost mugged and she’s pregnant and she’s bleeding— from her hand!” he explained exasperatedly, gesturing wildly with his hands. “And she wouldn’t go to the hospital and she’s saying it’s not necessary, but-”
There was a short silence and you wondered what Tony was saying, where, when, how and WHY had he recruited a kid and what the hell was all this.
You checked the time, finding out you really needed to go.
“I’ll show you how she is. Karen, initiate a video call-"
“No! Wait!” you yelped, lunging after a non-existent phone, desperately wanting to stop him. Oh no, please, you so didn’t have time for Tony Stark. You were sure that if Stark saw you, he would recognize you and-
“Mr. Stark is saying I should definitely bring you-"
-and would want you to come.
You raised your hands in defensive gesture. “I’m walking away.”
You looked around, gathered your handbag and stuff, spun on your heels-
“No way! Mr. Stark thinks you need medical attention-"
“I’ll make sure he needs medical attention unless I’m walking away.,” you growled loudly, more annoyed than anything else. “I really need to deliver these papers-"
“Oh! Where?! I’ll drop them off for you, madam! Maybe it’s even on our way! Where do you need them?”
You were so stunned you stuttered an address.
“Great! Let’s go!”

The Kids of Bare A Pop Opera playing “among us”
Cause my friends and I are obsessed with this game and someone had to do it.
When Among Us becomes popular at St. Celia’s, the kids can’t get enough of it. They play it underneath the desks in class, at lunch tables, hide it from father Flynn during mass, some are even brave enough to play during Sister Chantelle’s play practice. But the wonderland gang’s favorite way to play Among Us is in Tanya’s room together on Thursday nights, with popcorn, blasting music, and a ton of laughter. It becomes an unofficial tradition of theirs.
Peter: Favorite color to play as is cyan with the crown. Awful at being the imposter, SO SUS, even when he is crewmate. The gang always wins whenever he’s the imposter cause its so easy to tell. Likes getting tasks done better than voting. Favorite task is the ID code and shields. Him and Ivy usually team up, if one of them finds out the other is the imposter they wont say anything. He bought the pet option just so he could have a kid with him cause he thinks its a really cute option. Him and Tanya always chat each other song lyrics to early 2000s songs before the game and sometimes in ghost chat.
Jason: Favorite color to play as is lime with the cowboy hat. Great imposter, can easily convince the gang to turn on a crew mate, usually Nadia, but he’ll pick Peter sometimes cause he thinks its cute to watch him get all defensive and anxious at everyone, which makes Peter look even more sus. Also refuses to kill Peter as the imposter because Peter always gets so emotional over who is going to take care of his kid when he’s gone and Jason doesn’t like it when Peter’s sad. Prefers calling emergency meetings and voting to completing tasks, but still puts in an effort to get them done. In the first round, Lucas and Jason will travel together in order to not get killed off, after that it’s everyone for themselves. Favorite task is the “simon says” one.
Ivy: Favorite color to play as is pink with the flamingo floatie or the sprout. Scary good at being the imposter. She’s really good at shifting the blame onto other people and make the gang accuse each other while she sits back and watches them vote each other out. Likes chatting and voting better than tasks. Favorite tasks is the self scanner one. Sometimes she can get the gang to believe Peter isn’t the imposter just to help him out, but he’s kinda hopeless. Peter will do some of her tasks for her in return by giving him her phone. Her and Tanya are a fierce and manipulative team as imposters, people have a hard time trusting the two of them together after playing. They’ll usually do matching names too.
Nadia: Favorite color to play as is black with the plague mask. Average at being the imposter, usually people can tell if it is her because Ivy is the first one killed. She is merciless with sabotages however, the gang can never catch a break as she chooses one after the other. Very diligent about getting tasks done. Always the first one to complete her tasks. Her favorite one is clearing the asteroids. She likes the chat room and the tasks a lot. She is the only one to not trust Jason with his accusations and is sometimes successful in convincing the group he’s full of shit. Her and Matt will defend eachother if they’re accused of being imposter, unless they really do think the other is the imposter.
Matt: Favorite color to play as is red with the egg or the cheese. Meh imposter. Not as bad as Peter but pretty sus, usually vents with someone in the room on accident. Always the first one to die. It started as a coincidence but now its kinda become a running joke that he never makes it to the end of the game.Really good at figuring out who the imposter is first try and has helped the team win a lot that way. Prefers tasks over voting and the chatting. He always finishes all of his tasks no matter what, his favorite is putting the ship on course. HATES emergency meetings, he gets so annoyed whenever someone calls them.
Lucas: Favorite color to play as is brown, he usually chooses a different hat each game but his favorites are the beanie and the knife. Ruthless imposter. Goes on a killing spree. Doesn’t care as much about sabotaging, just kills and vents at every chance he gets. Pretty good at strategically using venting but gets caught killing often. Him and Nadia are the best imposter team. Between her sabotaging and his killing, they are unstoppable, the gang always loses first round if they are picked together. Gets super bored as a crew mate. Usually calls a bunch of emergency meetings just so he can stir up drama and vote people out, but sometimes just does it to annoy Matt. His favorite tasks are the really easy ones like fueling the engines cause he dosnt have enough patience for actual mini games cause he’s super paranoid he’s gonna get killed. Ghost chat is always lit if he’s dead tho.
Tanya: Favorite color to play as is purple with the devil horns. Plays imposter very smartly. Pretends to be super innocent in the chat and is a master at venting and killing without getting caught. The one thing that always gets her is she accuses innocent people and when they are ejected and not the imposter people know it’s her. Calls emergency meetings only when necessary but has a lot of fun as a crew mate. She’ll follow people around to get them nervous, usually Matt. Watches the security cameras like a hawk. Never gets a single task done. When she becomes a ghost she usually goes around and watches other people play and gets mad at people for not voting out the imposter.

Note
its about 2am and i read your polycule stuff and now i have heart palpitations thank u very much. it has filled a void i've been silently hoping for but never expecting and if you happen to decide that you will play around in your own little verse space and do more of those drabbles, i will eat that shit up so quick
Oho
Well you are in luck anon.
Because I wrote a short one the other day for the discord.
The prompt was: Peter and Sam being smart together, which my brain translated as ‘Peter being an asshole trying to get information out of Sam and Sam smiling at him tenderly while telling him to get fucked.’ ❤
---------
Sam apparently hid his suit from everyone, which Peter found ironic given that it was an invisibility suit and he lived with a blind dude.
Matt said that the suit tasted like batteries which was not unlike the time he’d told Wade that he smelled like depression and cocaine.
That is to say: invasive and unhelpful.
Peter decided that he was going to get actual information out of Sam.
Sam loved him. He said so. Jokingly. Directly after they’d fooled around and Peter had offered him a coffee for the road. But like. It was still a declaration, no?
Shut up, Johnny, no one cares about your opinion.
The goal here was to wheedle information on the suit out of Sam.
 --
It didn’t come.
Sam laughed and told him Peter suit was made of hopes and prayers and then asked him about cacti.
He was a cunning and wily adversary, since that way definitely lay a Wikipedia time-suck that took up most of Peter’s afternoon.
 --
Peter thought that maybe his charm could make it happen this time. He coaxed Sam east of Chinatown and wrapped arms around his waist and set his chin on his shoulder and told him to give up the suit.
It made Sam laugh really hard, which was a sign that the charm was working.
But then he leaned back into Peter’s grip and whispered in his ear that he’d give up his secrets only on pain of death, so keep going.
“You’re not that pretty,” he said tenderly, playing with the ends of Peter’s hair. “So I imagine we’ll be here for a while.”
Rude.
Rude as hell.
 --
He tried to go through Hannah, but Hannah blinked at him and asked him who the fuck he was. Once he’d explained that he was her sibling’s kinda-boyfriend, she was so scandalized, she slammed the door and called Sam there and then to demand to know why he hadn’t told her of any kinda-boyfriends.
Hannah then emerged from the apartment again and pointed a finger at Peter and said, “Break his heart and I’ll break yours,” while Sam tried to talk her down on the phone.
So that was a bust.
 --
He decided that he needed to think smarter, not harder here.
He located Blondie. He gave him the job of going into one of the baby Peters’ verses and locating a baby Sam to interrogate for information about the suit.
Blondie said he was on it.
He came back really quick, too, and then introduced Peter to a six-year-old.
Gwen laughed her ass off at him.
He told her to watch her back and then hunkered down to ask this teeny, tiny Sam what his feelings on invisibility were. Teeny, tiny Sam told him that this was a Pokémon move, which Peter already knew. So that wasn’t helpful at all.
He told Blondie thanks for his help, but no thanks.
 --
“So it’s batteries,” Peter said, following Sam around the office.
Foggy loomed menacingly over the copy machine. Sam shooed him aside and took over standing by, collecting the papers it spat out.
“Everything runs on batteries, Peter,” Sam said, shaking his head.
“Right, so you’ve got an electric pulse going through. How do you distribute it evenly? What material are you using? Is it a superconductor? Are the batteries powering a cooling system?”
Sam blinked slowly at him and snatched another page off the copy machine.
“You wanna know what it is?” he asked.
“Yes. Desperately,” Peter said.
Sam waved him in close. Peter leaned in. Sam waved him in even closer.
He got right up against Peter’s ear.
“None of your fuckin’ business,” he said.
He pulled back and nabbed another paper with a smile.
“Any other questions?” he asked.
Uh. Dinner?
“Delighted to,” Sam said.
 --
 Mirrors.
It had to be mirrors.
“Yeah, man, he goes out as a human disco-ball every night and fights crime,” Johnny deadpanned. “That would totally work.”
Peter dumped him off the couch and took his place to lean over it and address MJ and Ned.
“Mirrors,” he said.
“Probably not,” Ned told him. “Invisibility is more likely achieved through manipulating light than mirrors, Peter.”
How? Explain.
“Oh, well, it’s probably a filtering system,” Ned said. “But it could be some kind of material that he’s made that uses the spectrum of light that we can’t perceive. It might be actually reflecting, now that you mention it. Kind of like a mirror, I guess.”
Peter stared.
“I didn’t pay attention in Wade’s torture class,” he said. “Do you think I should call him to re-book or?”
“Or you could just drop it?” MJ said. “Sam’s tech is Sam’s tech. Leave him alone and ask him about fuckin’ willow or something like you always do.”
Peter huffed.
“But science, Michelle,” he said.
Her gaze stayed flat.
 --
“Okay, so I respect your defense of your ideas,” Peter said. “Like, a whole lot. But I just want to see it. Please?”
Sam lifted an eyebrow.
“Me in the suit,” he said.
“I’m dying for it,” Peter said.
“You just want to see me in the suit. That’s all,” Sam said.
Yes, pretty much.
“Okay, sit there. Don’t move.”
Holy shit.
Yes.
 --
The suit was black with white stripes that went in some kind of pattern that Peter didn’t understand. He swore that they moved every time Sam did.
Sam held his hands out to the side.
“Suit,” he said.
“Hot,” Peter said. “Come here.”
“No, you’ll steal my trade secrets,” Sam sniffed. “You stay over there.”
Peter whined and made himself as sexy and charming as possible. He patted a leg seductively.
Sam’s mask was unreadable, but Peter saw him roll his eyes anyways.
“I hate you,” he said, coming over to sit on the designated thigh.
Yes. Science.
“Babe, you’re so sexy when you’re hiding intellectual property from me,” Peter crooned into his hair.
Sam leaned back against him and laid a hand on his shoulder.
“Don’t call me ‘babe,’” he said sweetly.
“Or what?” Peter hummed.
Then blinked. Because he had no Sam.
O…kay?
No ‘babe.’ Message received. Where the fuck—
“Boo.”
He shrieked.
Sam laughed. Peter clutched at his chest.
“How did you do that?” he asked as Sam climbed over the couch and sweetly draped his legs over Peter’s.
Sam took off his mask and wiggled his black-gloved fingers.
“Magic,” he said. “Now you, sir, owe me dinner.”

☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆
❝ the most powerful people in New York and you were a part of it ❞
☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆
The abject horror one feels when coming across a dead body is one no one ever talks about. The stench, the sudden realization of how fragile life is. If said dead body is mutilated, violated, eyes left open to stare into the unlucky person to come upon it, it’s even worse.
But (Y/n) was left in a worse situation. The feeling of their dinner wanting to leave their stomach the same way it entered caused them to cover their mouth, trying to hold it back. The array of bodies strewn about in the warehouse caused them to shut their eyes and pinch their nose.
No one ever talked about how a body releases everything, and I mean everything, when they go onto the next life.
Now (Y/n) knows why.
“Holy shit,” Peter murmured, plugging his nose. “The smell, I didn’t realize the smell—”
Tony shushed him, his head turning back towards the two teenagers. He should have known that this small takedown of a few crimelords should have been left to the police. But when he saw his name on one of their weapons, he couldn’t help but want to investigate. Now he regrets it because even on missions, he’d ensure that (Y/n) and Peter would never see dead bodies. And now they were seeing more than they should.
Tony’s hand gripped (Y/n)’s shoulder, giving them a small squeeze then looking back over the railings onto the first floor where the bodies laid.
The lights on his armor dimmed and (Y/n) looked up at him with a tilt of their head.
“Something’s wrong,” a voice spoke out, a group of footsteps sounded throughout the warehouse. (Y/n)’s eyes widened and began to back up on the catwalk they were on, hiding from the voices.
“God, this is disgusting,” a woman spoke out.
“You’re telling me, Frank Castle, did this?” A man in a hoodie asked.
“Yes, but this group, they wouldn’t be his MO,” another man wearing a red armored suit responded. “Luke I’m going to need you to—wait.” His mouth parted, and he tilted his head. Unbeknownst to anyone else, his eyebrows furrowed as he continued listening into his surroundings.
“We’re not alone.” The man turned his head upwards.
“Daredevil, right?” Tony was already over the railings, hovering in the air above them. The HUD on (Y/n)’s domino mask they wore had instructions over it: ‘Do not show yourself until I say so. I know you’ll do it, but don’t do it.’ (Y/n) and Peter exchanged glances in which Peter only shrugged.
“Or should I say, Matt Murdock?” Tony pointed his finger at the man in the suit, his helmet promptly coming off. Matt tensed up, his jaw clenching. His fingers parted from the eskimo sticks he held then regripped it.
“Great, now we’re dealing with superheroes,” the woman sighed, walking away.
“Isn’t that Jessica Jones?” (Y/n) murmured towards Peter. Peter inched forward, peeking over the railings then looked back at (Y/n). He nodded his head. (Y/n) lets out a silent grunt of approval then slowly sat down, wanting to hear their dad’s interactions with them.
“I’m sorry,” Tony gestured towards her and his eyebrows furrowed. “Rosie the Riveter, from what I could tell, what you guys have done in the past few years could deem you as heroes.”
“Look, this isn’t something you could blast your way through, Stark.”
“Oh, so this is something you could, punch your way through, Mr. Luke Cage is it?”
“Okkaaayyy,” (Y/n) called out, jumping over the railings and ignoring the dead bodies below. “Dad, they’re on the same side as us, they might know more than us.” They landed with grace in front of the adults and then promptly jumped back up, tapping their mask that uncovered their face. “(Y/n) Stark, but you probably already knew that.”
Tony began protesting (Y/n) but they just ignored him after putting their hand out to shake the hands of the others with a smirk on their face. (Y/n) didn’t even notice Peter landing next to them until he did a two-finger salute.
“H-hi, Spider-Man, nice to meet you guys,” Peter stammered out. “I’m usually in Queens.”
(Y/n) rolled their eyes then turned around to face Tony who’s helmet already came off. His face full of exasperation and the wrinkle lines could probably very well be from the stress from taking care of his kids.
“I swear to god,” Tony flicked the back of (Y/n)’s head lightly, “you’re both going to be the death of me.”
(Y/n) giggled, trying to make light of the situation before turning back to the others.
“We’re on a bit of a time crunch, so please, if you could just get out of our way.” Jessica leaned on one of her legs, her voice slightly desperate. (Y/n) arched a brow at her. Peter raised his hand in the air and everyone glanced over at him. “Just talk, kid.”
“You know, if you work with us you won’t have to deal with the illegality of being a vigilante,” Peter spoke up.
“So what, we’d be Avengers-in-training?” A man (Y/n) and Tony recognized as the heir of Rand Enterprises, Danny Rand. Tony had meant him once, with Pepper.
Luke scoffed, “No thanks, we’re not—”
“Heroes?” (Y/n) interrupted. “Don’t you guys already have a nickname?” (Y/n) glanced up at their dad who clicked his tongue and began nodding his head, gesturing to (Y/n) then back to them.
“Yeah, yeah, the Defenders, right?” Tony asked. “Rhetorical question but you guys need us,” he turned around, looking over the dead bodies then back up at the catwalk he was at minutes earlier, “just as much as we need—”
(Y/n) frowned and everyone exchanged glances wondering why Tony would just stop talking, he loved hearing himself talk.
He was even frozen in place, his hand raised to the side and his foot just hovering over the ground.
There’s a certain gut wrenching feeling you usually get before the bad thing happens, in movies, in real life. Usually you just look away, ignore it, and wait for the next scene. But in this situation, in this world that (Y/n) lives in, you gotta look. You gotta watch to find out what the next move is.
(Y/n)’s gaze followed their dad’s, wondering what Tony was looking at.
“Don’t look up!” Matt shouted, pushing both teenagers’ heads down. “Don’t look at her.” He held both of them there.
“Oh my,” an alluring voice called out. (Y/n) suddenly felt at peace and almost wanted to fight against Matt and look up to see who the voice belonged to. “I never would have thought I could catch one of the big ones.”
“If you can,” Matt murmured towards the two of them, “Change your masks to see in infrared.” He slowly let go. (Y/n)’s mask covered their eyes, and they blinked, suddenly seeing everything in infrared. They looked up and saw a woman who radiated no heat but her eyes, her eyes were burning hot.
Jessica and the others had on goggles with the name Rand on the side, their fists were held up, prepared to fight the moment they saw Tony’s helmet come back online.
“Mr. Stark?” Peter called out, his voice wary.
The woman laughed, weaving her arm through Tony’s arm and hugging it tight. “I’m afraid Mr. Stark isn’t able to come to the phone right now.”
“What did you do to him!?” (Y/n) demanded, pulling out their bo staff. Jessica grabbed their arm and held them back.
“Not now, kid,” she said. (Y/n) tried shrugging her off but her grip just tightened. What they didn’t realize was another man walking out from above, a skull painted on his chest and two assault rifles in his hand.
“Alright, honey,” the woman wrapped her arms around Tony’s neck, “Let’s get out of here. And Frankie, be a dear and take them out for me?”
“Wait, dad!” (Y/n) called out, reaching their arm up towards him as he flew up and blasted a hole in the roof.
“Watch out!” (Y/n) was jolted out of their daze from Tony seemingly under the woman’s control when Luke grabbed them and set them behind him once the man, Frank Castle, began raining bullets down on them. Matt, Jessica, and Danny dove behind a car that was set in the warehouse.
Peter launched himself up onto the roof using his webs. Then pointed it towards Frank.
“That’s unfair, you can’t use guns on unarmed people!” His webs hooked onto the two guns and he yanked it back. Frank stumbled forward, grunting as he lost his balance. He wasn’t able to react fast enough when Peter launched two webs beside him only to catapult into him, knocking him out the moment his head slammed into the wall behind him.
(Y/n) gripped their bo staff, their knuckles white and waited before the shooting stopped. They watched as Peter jumped back down with a webbed-up Frank Castle in his arms. (Y/n) turned to face the other adults and their mask came off, their face red with fury behind their eyes.
“You better tell us what the deal with that woman was because she just kidnapped my dad, Tony-fucking-Stark and we’re helping whether you like it or not.”
***
“So you’re telling me,” (Y/n) rubbed her forehead, “that Adeline Trost, the woman who took my dad, can control people when she makes eye contact with them.”
“Yes, and that’s why we don’t want to call in the Avengers,” Matt replied. At this point, he was unmasked, relaxing in the confines of his apartment. (Y/n) glanced over at Peter, who still wore his mask, and then over at the others who sat spread out. Frank Castle was webbed to a chair, making him incapacitated in case he’s sitll under her control.
“Well, when one of us is compromised, we have to alert the others,” (Y/n) sighed, burying their face into their hands. They let out a frustrated groan and leaned back in the chair.
(Y/n) didn’t want this, they didn’t want to be the one making the call but they were an Avenger, and a higher ranking one than Peter was. At least, that’s what they both saw (Y/n) as.
Peter fiddled around with his hands, tapping his foot against the ground. He watched (Y/n) let out another frustrated groan and though they just seemed exasperated, he knew that they were worried about their dad. Naturally, he was too. But (Y/n) had probably lost him more times than the two of them can count combined.
“No,” a new voice spoke up, his voice gruff. “If she ends up controlling them, the whole world will be at risk.”
Chairs scratched against the floor as everyone stood up. Frank sat still though, as still as he could. He looked up, his face was bruised up and littered with cuts and scars. If he had powers, he’d be a force to be reckoned with; he still was.
“Are you still…” Danny’s arm was outreached towards him, cautious in case Frank could break out of the webs, despite it being extremely strong.
“Under that bitch’s control?” Frank asked, his head tilted. “No.” He shook his head. “I’m not and Murdock over there can tell you I’m telling the truth.”
(Y/n) looked over at Matt, their eyes narrowed at the lawyer. Matt’s face was relaxed, most likely listening to Frank’s heart.
“He’s telling the truth, you can unweb him,” Matt assured. Jessica walked over behind him before Peter could make his way over and ripped open the webs. Frank shortly stood up, letting the webs fall to his feet. He groaned as he rubbed his neck and dusted the webs off of himself.
“Woah,” Peter murmured and looked over at (Y/n) while pointing towards her, “she’s strong.” Jessica rolled her eyes and walked over to the fridge and took out a beer.
“I’m taking this Murdock.” She raised the beer then took the cap off and began chugging. Matt didn’t respond, knowing he couldn’t deny her.
“So what’s the plan?” Luke crossed his arms, looking back and forth between (Y/n) and the others.
“Alert the Avengers and,” (Y/n) raised a hand up in the air before anyone could protest, “let them know that Tony’s compromised and to not trust him. I’ll let them know that I can handle it too.”
“And you’re sure they’d trust his kid and Spider-Kid?” Luke nodded towards Peter.
“Spider-Man, it’s Spider-Man,” Peter whined.
Jessica cocked a brow at him, “You’re a kid, Spider-Kid.” (Y/n) stifled a laugh, patting Peter on his back before taking out their phone.
“I’m sure,” said (Y/n) and walked away from the group to call Rhodey.
***
Rhodey walked up to Frank, who was significantly taller and more toned, despite Rhodey actively being War Machine and a Colonel.
Frank stared down at him, adjusting his stance and his fingers fiddled around against the palm of his head rhythmically.
“Look, Colonel,” Frank started, “with all due respect, this is one of the jobs that the Avengers can’t take up. Might as well be well below your paygrade.”
Rhodey scoffed with a smile, placing his hands on his hips, the whirring of the mechanics surrounding his legs filling the quiet room. Everyone watched with silent, observant eyes. You could literally cut the tension in the room with a butterknife. (Y/n) knew they were in deep shit when Frank glanced over at them from the corner of his eye.
“This is a job that’s already been taken up by the Avengers,” said Rhodey. “When one of our own is compromised, we’re involved. I could call in the authorities right now and have you arrested. All of you.” He pointed at the other four. “But I won’t, even if I should.”
Jessica groaned, walking towards a chair and falling into it. “I need a fucking drink and I blame you, Stark.” (Y/n) ran their hand through their hair nervously and walked over towards Peter, hoping to find comfort near him.
“Can we stop this?” Luke asked, desperation laced in his words. “The longer we take on finding a way to work together, the longer it takes to take down Adeline. Frank, you need to learn how to be a team player.”
(Y/n) draped an arm over their stomach, their other hand going up to the side of their face, taping on their mask to let it go over their face and watched Tony’s vitals that the two of them setup for each other. A way to make sure the other was safe in a situation like this.
They pursed their lips, tapping their fingers against their side, ignoring what the others were talking about and just watched Tony’s heartbeat across the screen.
That’s all (Y/n) wanted, for their dad to be back and safe and alive. They’ve lost him too many times, too many near death counts. This can’t be the one where they truly lose him.
***
The streets were nearly empty of civilians. Buildings were destroyed and, despite ‘the Defenders’ wanting to keep the Avengers out of it, the Avengers became a part of it. But with the Avengers becoming a part of it, the risk of them falling under Adeline’s control increased.
The plan was to bring Adeline out in the open, have the Avengers as secret weapons in case the plan went south if the Defenders (and Colleen, she didn’t want to be left out) got stuck in control and to have Wanda use her powers to invoke her worst fears and to read her mind.
But what they didn’t expect was Adeline being able to counter Wanda’s powers and she worked backwards, bringing Wanda down to her fears and then putting her under control. One by one, the Avengers who were there, Rhodey, Steve, Sam, and Natasha, fell straight into her control.
Leaving the misfit heroes (not that they’d ever call themselves that) with the two Avengers-in-training to take out Adeline and bring them back. Which brought the block they occupied in Manhattan to be destroyed.
(Y/n) slowly walked up to Tony, ignoring the sounds of protests behind her. The Defenders, miraculously, brought a few of the Avengers back to their side, aiding them in the fight against the others, especially  Wanda. They all helped each other up, leaning on each other for support as they watched (Y/n) confront Tony.
His mask was off and his eyes were dull as he stared into (Y/n)’s eyes. His gauntlet was pointed straight at them, one repulsor blast and they’d be done for. But Tony was hesitating.
(Y/n) tapped the side of their mask allowing the nanotech to show their face; allowing themself to be vulnerable even in the case that Adeline appeared. But they didn’t care, they just needed to get their dad back.
“Dad, it’s me, it’s (Y/n).” They smiled but choked on a sob when they heard the whir of his repulsor. Until Tony cracked a smirk and he grunted, using his other hand to pull the one pointed at (Y/n)’s face back down.
Tony yelled, falling to the ground, his face scrunched up in determination. The ground hit (Y/n)’s knees, landing next to him and grabbing him by the shoulders.
“Hey kid,” he breathed out, placing his hand on her shoulder as he stood back up. The glimmer in Tony’s eyes coming back and (Y/n) knew he was back. His helmet covered his face and (Y/n)’s mask followed. “You in infrared? I don’t want you to fall und—”
(Y/n)’s arms wrapped around him, despite the bulky armor.
“How do you always get caught up in this shit, dad?” Tony hugged back, the mouth of his faceplate slightly tapping the top of their head as if it was a kiss.
“I don’t think I’d be me if I didn’t get caught up in this shit.” He pulled away, glancing back to the fight. “How’d you even pull me out?”
(Y/n) shrugged, “I just looked you in the eye. We got Frank out by knocking him out really hard too, and the others.”
“Sounds good, now how do we deal with the Adeline chick?”
“Already got her,” Jessica said. The two Starks turned to face the powered woman who held a woman with her eyes covered. Jessica shoved her down at their feet, her hands tied together. Both of the Starks’ masks came off, showing their face.
“Well, that was easy.”
“For you, maybe.” Luke spit out a mouthful of blood, walking up to them, limping. Others trailing behind.
Steve grabbed his helmet from the ground, holding it to his side. “You guys did good, you know. Not a lot of people could say they went toe-to-toe with the Avengers and survived. We could use more people with your abilities.”
“Yeah well,” Colleen sheathed her sword and held her side, leaning on Danny for support.
“We’re not heroes,” Frank finished for her.
“No matter how much you guys deny it,” said (Y/n), “you guys are heroes. You worked with us, saved us, helped me get my dad back and defeated the enemy. You’re my hero.”
“We should cap this conversation for another time.” Natasha gestured towards Adeline squirming on the ground and then towards civilians making their way to watch a large group of heroes interacting with each other.
“Sure, but I’m tossing it in the ocean because I’m not down to join a band,” Jessica began walking away, despite her wounds. “You know where to find me though, if you need me.”
They all watched as she walked off.
“She’s always like that, don’t worry,” Matt brought up with a slight smile.
“She acts cold, but she’s warm-hearted. A bit blunt at times,” Luke added.
(Y/n) rolled their eyes as the adults began to talk about trying to recruit the others to be Avengers. Peter inched his way over to them and (Y/n) looked up at him.
“This is pretty crazy, isn’t it?” Peter asked.
(Y/n) nodded their head, “It’s like a crazy crossover special episode. Pretty badass.”

Jasonsgrayson’s Guide To All Things Spideytorch
Hi guys, I know I do rec lists sometimes, and I wanted to do one for Spideytorch since I just got into it and a lot of the fics on AO3 are really great. Theres a ton of fics here, of all shapes and sizes and ratings, and in no particular order as always, so take your pick.
Above the cut are my all time favorite spideytorch fics, below the cut are a mess of totally awesome fics that you guys should really take a look at.
If you want to save some time just look at any of Traincat’s and lamujerarana’s spideytorch stuff. They’re amazing.
Kind, Sober, and Fully Dressed by Traincat Rated M - 8,685 words Is this my favorite spideytorch fic of all time? Yes. Is it one of my favorite fanfics of all time in general? Also yes. Are the Johnny Storm sex tape related events of this fic cannon? Yes they absolutely fucking are. Read it, I beg of you.
"Pete, my man, my completely platonic best bro," he muttered to himself in the voice he reserved solely for mocking Johnny Storm. "Come over and watch my maybe sex tape! Fun times! Just two guys hanging out -" he slammed the bathroom door maybe a little harder than necessary "- watching the one guy's celebrity sex tape! Good clean fun!" Mrs. Moretti downstairs banged on her ceiling with a broom. Everything was coming up Parker tonight. -- Or, in which Peter proves himself tragically unable to take a hint. Post-Amazing Spider-Man Digital #17, aka the time Johnny asked Peter to watch his sex tape.
Lost and Found by Traincat Rated E - 8,154 words Is it another fake relationship fic? Yes. Is it my second favorite spideytorch fic? Also yes.
“A field trip?” Peter said. “Just a little family outing,” Sue said, passing him a knife. He took it and obediently started helping her cut the crusts off a small mountain of sandwiches. “We thought you might like to join us.” “I mean, it sounds great,” Peter said. “But work is a little swamped and somehow whenever I take off with you guys I always manage to go missing for two months. My landlady does not love it.” “We really could use the extra set of hands. Also,” Sue said, “someone needs to keep an eye on Johnny.” Peter groaned. -- Peter's spider-sense starts acting up on a Future Foundation field trip. He and Johnny, recently returned from the Negative Zone, have to pretend to be married. These two things are related.
Work Song by Traincat Rated E - 50,953 words I will never get tired of this one, I’ve read it so many times it’s one of my absolute favorites. Basically Peter is Johnny’s sugar daddy.
Peter Parker has his company, more money than he knows what to do with, and the echoes of a ghost in his head. Johnny Storm's lost his family, his home, and is clinging to the remnants of his old life. -- "I’m here with you. That’s not nothing, right?” “No,” Peter agreed. It definitely felt like something, all the way up here with Johnny so close they were almost touching. Peter looked at him, at the full lips set in a slight frown, the sharp curve of his jaw, the way his hair fell across his forehead. He fit all the dazzling lights around them, warm like sunshine even in the middle of the night. “Beautiful,” Peter said before he could stop himself.
River Eyes by perissologist Rated M - 22,749 words I love it because Noir is my shit, especially when it’s done this freaking well.
If Jonathan Storm was the movie star Betty said he was, he looked the part: Hair like spun gold in perfect curls atop slender features, with eyes bluer than the Hudson in midsummer. “Normally I’d ask what a dame like you is doing in a place like this, but”—Peter cast a glance up his guest—“you’re not exactly a dame, are you?” Storm flashed a weak smile. “I can be, if you want.” Peter raised an eyebrow. Storm turned beet-red. “I mean. I’m. I didn’t mean that.” Storm huffed and shoved out a hand. “Johnny Storm.” --- It's 1933, Peter Parker has just shut down a Nazi eugenist and lost one of his oldest friends, and life in the big city is as joyless and hardscrabble as ever. Then Johnny Storm, movie star with a soul made of sunshine, walks through Peter's door, asking for his help. The rest, as they say, is history.
Eight Arms to Hold You by metaphoracle Rated T - 15,071 words I love it because it has Namor the Sub Mariner and fake relationships and Atlantis, and a really lecherous octopus, and really what’s not to like?
When Spider-Man’s best friend Johnny Storm asks him for help in tactfully declining a marriage proposal from the King of Atlantis, Namor the Sub-Mariner, the only solution is for him to volunteer Daily Bugle photographer Peter Parker to pretend to be dating Johnny at the Engagement Banquet in Atlantis. Sure, it’s technically lying to his best friend about who Peter Parker is, but the important thing is that Johnny won’t have to marry Namor, and if Peter gets some photographs of Atlantis to sell, what’s the harm? Peter thought the most difficult thing about this scenario was going to be making sure Johnny didn’t figure out Peter is actually Spider-Man. Having to pretend he wasn’t actually falling in love with his best friend never crossed his mind. Featuring fake relationships, forced (almost) marriages, identity porn, traditional Atlantean clothing, and amorous cephalopods.
Keep Throwing Things and Slamming the Door by Traincat Rated T - 7,817 words I think I’ve read this one a half a dozen times already, it’s so good/funny. She-Hulk’s in it, and she is fabulous.
Waking up in a stranger's bed is not how superhero Johnny Storm planned on spending the morning after the night before. From now on… A) No more secret hookups with Peter Parker—he's the last man on earth Johnny'd want to share a room with, never mind a king-size bed. B) Maintain a professional persona at all times. After all, he's a photographer for New York's #1 Superhero Bashing Rag and Johnny's perfect tabloid fodder. C) Keep friends close but enemies closer. Easier said than done, with She-Hulk away on her honeymoon and Spider-Man avoiding him.
The Boy From New York City by Traincat Rated E - 84,499 words I really love this one. Of all the fics on this list I would say this is a spideytorch must read, a true classic.
Central City, California is beautiful, but it’s not where Johnny wants to be – and he’s not who he wants to be, either. Inspired by the recent return of Spider-Man, Johnny convinces the newly minted Fantastic Four to return to the Baxter Building, the site of the incident that gave them their powers. But not everything is what it seems, and worse yet, Spider-Man wants nothing to do with the Human Torch. In the wake of Gwen’s death, Peter has finally put the mask back on, but nothing’s the same as it once was, and the thrill has gone out of Spider-Man. The Fantastic Four’s arrival only makes everything worse. The Human Torch is good looking, he’ll give him that much, but Peter has no plans of making friends. A series of strange attacks and a fateful encounter on the docks may not leave him much choice.
‘cause I can’t compete with your boyfriend (he’s got 27 tattoos) by Traincat Rated T - 13,495 words Who doesn’t love a high school au? I know I do.
The thing was, Peter was stuck with Johnny forever, basically. The super glue of unintentional friendship. It was cosmic, fated, and incredibly annoying. Johnny Storm might have been a handbasket of bad decisions and personality defects wrapped up with an incredible smile, but he was Peter’s handbasket of bad decisions -- of which Daken was still the worst one Johnny had ever made, and Johnny had made some truly bad decisions. -- Johnny dates Daken, Peter has a crisis, and everything works out okay in the end.
All That We Were by paramountie Rated G - 10,298 words Here’s a super cute stuck in an alternate universe kid fic, if that’s your thing (It sure as hell is mine).
“What do you think the deal is anyway?” Peter asks. “My money’s on dreamscape.” “Twenty bucks says it’s an alternate universe.” “Nuh-uh, pal. It’s a dream for sure. Or a nightmare.”
The Spider Prince and the Morning Star by Traincat Rated M - 24,337 words Every ship needs a great fairytale fic, and this is a phenomenal fairytale fic. It’s sort of a Beauty and the Beast/Eros and Psyche tale and I loved it so much.
“Folks like to say there’s a monster that lives in the forest,” Old Swenson said the next day when Johnny told him his story. Johnny worked in his shop, when Swenson could afford to pay him. He fixed things, clocks and broken carriages. Johnny wasn’t good for much, but he had a hand for repairs. “And that it’ll grant you wishes, for a price. Folks will say anything, after a drink or five. Don’t listen to that kind of foolish talk, Johnny.” When Johnny makes a deal with the monster that lives in the woods – himself for his sister’s happiness – he doesn’t expect the giant spider to take him to a beautiful castle, or to reveal himself a cursed prince. There’s only one catch: he’s only a man in the darkest night, and Johnny can never see his face.
Better in Picture by weekend_conspiracy_theorist Rated T - 12,218 words I love this one, it’s freaking hilarious. It really uses Matt, Foggy, and Peter to their full comedic potential.
In which Peter Parker has no interest in sleeping with Matt Murdock, no matter what anyone seems to think.
you keep me hanging on by lamujerarana Rated E - 19,031 words Here’s a great friends with benefits to lovers fic, because there must always be at least one.
Johnny, reeling from his breakup with Medusa and the loss of his entire family, turns to Peter for comfort...that eventually involves casual sex that isn't so casual for Johnny, since he just so happens to be in love with Peter. Everything becomes incredibly complicated. This story takes place between the events of Inhumans vs X-Men #6 and Uncanny Avengers v3 #20.
Always Glad You Came by aloneintherain Rated T - 13,290 words Mistaken Identity or boys being dumb, take your pick.
Spider-Man is a relatively new, controversial vigilante, and Johnny has a crush the size of the Empire Building. The Four - operating under the assumption that Spidey is an adult - do not approve. “I just happen to think Spider-Man's cool,” Johnny says, matter-of-factly. “A hero can think another hero is cool without making it weird. I admire his aloofness. And his badass-ness.” “His aloofness,” Ben repeats, chuckling into his mug of beer. It’s roughly the size of Johnny’s head. “Yeah, sure, I bet that’s all your admire, right?”
When Peter Met Johnny by Measured Rated T - 14,437 words A paparazzi fic!
Peter takes up additional paparazzi work to pay the bills, which inevitably leads to an angry flaming man, a broken camera, an accidental friendship and a whole lot more than he bargained for.
Tied to the Wait and Sees by Mizzy Rated T - 14,283 words This is hilarious, poor Johnny’s trying his best.
Johnny Storm's in love. With Spider-man. Except no one seems to even believe Johnny when he tells them. Everyone thinks he's totally joking. What a buzzkill. Even his bff doesn't react supportively, which is rude, disrespectful, and completely awkward when Johnny walks into a time anomaly and wakes up in the future married not to his beloved Spider-man, but to Peter Parker. Huh, no wonder Parker reacted so badly to the news.
Say You Will, Say You Won’t by Traincat Rated T - 15,563 words Peter in this one is hilarious, it’s perfect characterization.
Johnny Storm found him on a Friday afternoon, wearing the kind of beseeching look that filled Peter with dread. “I need to ask you a favor,” he said. “No,” Peter said, swinging away. -- Peter and Johnny get married, really-not-really.
Tales From The Black Pages by Traincat Rated T - 19,019 words A soulmate words fic, because, again, there must always be at least one. And it’s a really great one, too.
Peter Parker was born with his words. Johnny Storm's been sure his will be said sarcastically since he was a child. Everything else more or less happens according to plan. A first words soulmate AU.
Weaving Spiders Come Not Here by Mizzy Rated T - 13,809 words Mistaken identity or boys being dumb, I think I can guess which one it is.
People are treating Peter oddly. Really oddly. It turns out they're being nice to him because they think his boyfriend cheated on him. …with Spider-Man. It's honestly quite tiring pretending to be jealous of yourself.
Peter Parker’s Guide to Secret Identities by coocoocachu Rated T - 93,789 words Johnny is a teen heartthrob, enough said.
“Oh wow, it’s the Human Torch, Johnny Storm.” MJ whispered to Peter. Peter just hummed back. Maybe it was a little childish to be upset but he totally had that thing with the weird mutant moth under control last night. Peter leaned against the wall while MJ milled around talking to people trying to figure out what the big scoop was here. ‘There always has to be a reason for an exclusive, Peter!’ she had said. Yeah, Peter thought, and the reason is Johnny Storm loves the attention. Peter fiddled with his camera. Action shots were more his thing, particularly somehow managing to take action selfies of himself as Spider-Man or a few of his supercharged enemies. Pictures of egotistical superhero’s shirtless? Not really his area.
stranger danger by I_mNotYourEnemy Rated T - 10,600 words Mistaken identity or boys being dumb 3: Grindr Identity
pete is this a bad time to ask who this is?? Hothead Is this not Grindr Peter? pete nope Hothead Ahhh fuck Sorry for the unsolicited dick pic pete that’s alright, ive seen worse -- In which Johnny gets a username wrong, Peter gets a dick pic, and MJ gets a headache just thinking about the situation.
Turn Me On, Turn Me Off by blue_jack Rated E - 5,158 words Honestly the summary speaks for itself here.
“I have. A vibrator. Stuck. In my ass,” Johnny said, enunciating clearly and concisely while staring him straight in the eyes, and Peter didn’t know who was blushing harder, but he was sure they were in a race to see who could match the color of his mask first.
Flip a Coin - Choose Both Sides by the_overlord Rated T - 10,993 words Johnny is president of the Spider-Man fanclub. Just- that’s it.
Wherein Johnny Storm gets given a wrong number and ends up the President of Spiderman's fanclub. Things get a little more complicated from there.
Tanglewood Tree by amaronith Rated E - 6,901 words Another fuckbuddies to lovers au.
but love is a light in the sky, and an unspoken lie, and a half whispered prayer Or: what happens when Johnny becomes fuck buddies with the guy he's been in love with for years.
let the choir bell sing by gottalovev Rated E - 16,457 words Another fake relationship, this one set abroad in Venice.
Johnny and Spider-Man are on assignment at the Carnival of Venice, and asked to be present at an influential politician's costumed party. When he becomes worried that said politician wants to match him up with his daughter, Johnny announces he's secretly married to Spider-Man. They can totally fake being secret husbands for a few days! Not a problem, not even when they have to share a bed. After all, they are good buddies; it's not as if Johnny would have to sleep with someone he has a crush on, like Peter Parker.
Stay With Me - by oneshinyapple Rated E - 2 works - 29,958 words total This is a great verse which is also part of the Like Gravity verse, which I haven’t read all the installments of.
Movie nights, fighting alien dinosaurs, and falling in love with your best friend — one of these may be a worse idea than the others.
A Melody That’s Calling Your Name by gleesquid Rated T - 32,731 words Another great high school au.
When a boy gets trapped in the Baxter Building fire, Peter must make a quick choice: let the boy die terrified in the flames or gain his trust by showing him what's underneath his mask. In the end, it's no choice at all. But when that same boy shows up on the first day of senior year, Peter finds himself caught in a spiraling lie. The next thing he knows, he's got a boyfriend, he's starring in a musical, he's going to rich kids' costume parties, and he's realizing that maybe there are worse things than having someone know your biggest secret. You'd think high school couldn't get any weirder than a radioactive spider bite, but that's just the Parker Luck.
hang a shining star upon the highest bough by lamujerarana Rated E - 15,386 words A lovely little Christmas fic for that time of year
The first time Johnny and Peter meet up at the Statue of Liberty on Christmas morning, Johnny's kind, thoughtful, and supportive to Peter at a time when Peter, still mourning the loss of Gwen Stacy, really needs it. Peter doesn't know how he'll ever pay him back for that, but he's sure going to try. Or, Peter tries his best, throughout various Christmases, to be there for Johnny when he needs it.
take my medicine, treat you like adrenaline by gleesquid Rated E - 2,763 words The one and only Spiderverse fic on this list, for when you’re in that Peter B. Parker mood.
“Every time I even think about dating again, it’s like, ‘oh, there’s MJ’s nose,’ or ‘hey, she has MJ’s eyes.’ I don’t know how to not see her in everyone. I don’t know if I want to.” “You ever figured you’re maybe barking up the wrong tree?” Peter furrowed his brow. “Explain.” “Well, ya know.” Harry sipped his martini. “There’s a larger dating pool out there than you’d think. With people who will not remind you of MJ.” Or: After the divorce, Peter tries for a rebound.
Save a Horse-Adjacent Alien by Traincat Rated E - 3,915 words Poor Johnny made a terrible actor.
He was minding his own business, sitting in a movie theater in Queens, snacking on popcorn and wondering how many times he could make fun of Johnny Storm’s hair before Aunt May asked why he was so fixated, when the trailers ended, the lights went out, and Johnny appeared on the screen. Peter’s mouth went dry, and it wasn't because of the popcorn. Maybe it was the distance the movie gave him, Johnny up on a screen instead of right in front of him, warm and bright and frighteningly human. Maybe it was how endearingly terrible of an actor he was. Maybe it was the lighting. It was, Peter thought, probably the cowboy boots.
Bring That Summer by pommenade Rated T - 15,070 words Ahh social media, get’s you every time.
Juggling the duties of Spider-Man as well as his life as CEO of Parker Industries was easy. Peter Parker had years of practice. Add in a clandestine relationship with Johnny Storm and things got a bit more complicated. Add in Johnny's Instagram account, and suddenly Peter's life is impossible.
Educational Purposes by Traincat Rated E - 5,510 words A sexy little married fic
“I just,” Johnny said, flicking his gaze up at Peter through his eyelashes. He pressed the pen to his bottom lip and lowered his voice, pornographic. “I really need to pass your class, Professor Parker.” Peter snorted. “Cute, Johnny.” “Please, Professor Parker?” Johnny continued, and suddenly Peter realized that he wasn’t just joking around. “Isn’t there anything I could do to improve my grade? Anything at all?”
