Most of my cats have lived to see their mid to late teens and pass away in the home or with the assistance of my vet because of age or cancer. Twidget just passed at well over 16 and Oscar was in his late teens. (see #oscar in my history). Roxy passed from complications related to her diabetes for which she took insulin daily.

We are near no major roadway, we have no "endangered wild life" for them to cause damage and they are all fixed with shots etc.

They are pets but some, to an extent, are working cats. They keep the mouse and rat and pest bird population under control which keeps my chickens, horses and llama safe from the diseases those things can bring into my yard.

All of my current cats were either feral or farm rescues, meaning they spetd all of their early years outside in much more dangerous conditions. If they could not go outside some would be intolerable.

I appreciate your concern and for city dwellers I would agree, cats should be inside away from danerous dogs, people and traffic. I won't be keeping all my cats inside. They are not city cats. They are spoiled and cared for, loved and fed but they will continue to patrol my land.
