You watched your uncle Robotnik and Gerald walked away together, planning to sneak into GUN and steal the final keycard they needed, leaving you, Stone and Shadow.

“I have avocados in The Crab. Let’s go make guac!” Stone chimed, both you and Shadow turned your head to look at him.

“Revenge guac.” Shadow responded, his brows furrowed watching as Stone slowly helped you back into the sewer drain.

You were warned about Shadow, he was dangerous Robotnik had told you. Robotnik was somewhat caring when it came to you, he wasn’t harsh nor rude, he saw you as a responsibility but not a burden. He was kinder around you, maybe he saw a bit of himself, being all alone in a world that tended to abandon.

Whatever it was, you knew his warnings were usually right, but having been around the hedgehog for a while you honestly didn’t believe your uncle. Shadow, although seemed tough, you could tell there was more behind the persona and all the walls he’d put up.

Stone walked over to the island in the middle of the Crab, preparing the avocados for the guacamole he planned to make.

You took the opportunity to show Shadow around. Being the youngest of the bunch you didn’t have many friends and this was a chance to make a new one.

Quickly you walked in front of Shadow, a bright smile on your face highlighting the innocence in all your features, it was eerily reminiscent of someone.

“Come, I wanna show you around!” You told Shadow, grabbing his gloved hand unannounced, making him slightly more on guard. Stone looked up from the guac he was currently working on, he seemed happy; smiling at the two kids.

Shadow didn’t say much as you dragged him to your room, he just looked at you. Watching as your hand gripped onto his, he couldn’t help but hold on as well. Fearing that if he let go he may never find it again.

As he watched you near the closed door, he couldn’t help but take in all that you were, your demeanor, your way of speaking, your bright attitude, it was just like hers.

“This is my room!” Your hand started letting go of his but his grip only tightened. You looked down at his hand and back up at him as his eyes scanned the small room. You only smiled at his gesture, not feeling the need to point it out.

As you guided him around still hand in hand you saw his eyes checking every corner of the room, “It’s small,”

Your sudden laugh catches him off guard, his head quickly turning to see your free hand covering your mouth, “Sorry sorry! It’s just that’s the first thing you say to me?” You jokingly tell the hedgehog.

He watches you for a little bit longer, his eyes widening. As he stares up at you, all he sees is her. It wasn’t physical, it wasn’t that you looked like Maria, no not at all, it was the fact your personality towards him resembled her so much.

You weren’t afraid, you approached him and didn’t see him as a weapon or some type of lab rat. It was like he was really a person around you, like he was capable of caring again.

Shadow didn’t say much, and that was okay, you could do most of the talking anyway, you enjoyed being able to finally talk to someone.

You sat Shadow down on the floor, letting go of his hand so you could show him some of the toys and games you owned, knowing he lived 50 years in the past you wanted to keep him up to date on all the newer stuff that had come up. While you were grabbing some items you decided to also play a movie, it would be cool to show him the new films they’d come out with.

He silently watched you hurry around the room, dropping strange toys onto him. He felt some weird string toys get stuck in his quills.

You heard him rustle around, seeing him pull out your worm on a string, “Very colorful,” he grunted, as he tossed the toy in the pile in front of him.

All you did was smile as you sat in front of him, describing each toy and how they worked, as the latest Godzilla movie played in the background.

It was ironic really, back then Godzilla was a monster and now he was a friend protecting the people from the other monsters.

He no longer sat with Maria watching movies and playing games, now he sat with you. Oh how things really have changed.

Ok so throw back to Ep. 56

When bronze entered the book and only encountered that rustling. He himself states that either Buddy/Nox wasn’t there, or left the book.

The rustling in the bushes could have just been ambience ORRRR Buddy/Nox could have spotted him and left quickly! Bronze would recognize him right away, so it TOTALLY makes sense that he would leave. However, he didn’t show up at all when Deacon was Ridin’ Solo. So he probably either has a direct link to Silver, or Chase himself. If Violet is linked with Silver, Buddy/Nox prob skedaddled the moment he saw our peanut butter boy.

The book shown in EP. 61 shows a bunch of lines and junk (including Buddy/Nox's moon) with Violet's key presumably in her spot? Which could connect her to Silver? Idk

Another thing, I’ve been thinking about :

What role exactly Buddy/Nox has... When Chase first wakes Silver in Ep. 9

We can see here that Chase says purple key and villainess and Silver confirms. I saw someone in the comments mention that he has the moon on his back to mirror Goldie, so maybe he is the villain key? Like, for masculine roles while Violet is for feminine roles. He does mention that he’s never been the hero…

Some more food for thought,

Look at how sad he is here in Ep. 13 :( Chase has no idea that he’s saying that to a fellow key who probably knows Silver better than Chase does.

A few panels earlier Buddy/Nox calls her an “it” so I wonder if he was somehow turned into a key after they were separated, and never met her? Or he could just be throwing Chase off. He seems genuinely surprised when Chase tells him off.

And Next,

This episode had me thinking of Buddy/Nox bashfully asking Violet to make him outfits for each story LOL. I love when we get peaks into his shy personality. He has a snooty persona he keeps putting up, and I hope in season two we get to see him show more genuine pieces of himself :’)

And then we get to see more of his facade crack as he sadly reminisces after the kiss. Not a cute moment like Chase, but a realization that he’s fallen deeper than he should have. And it’s getting in the way of his goals. Their goals.

And finally,

Looking back at some of the other episodes, Buddy/Nox lets himself indulge in Chase sometimes. When he calls him a little idiot, strokes his hair, tries (badly) to idk seduce? him. Its making my mind RACE! Was he aware of his feelings? Did he look forward to seeing Chase in the books? Did it give him a sense of normalcy and make him feel human again? Did he feel a sense of dread when he realized that he likes Chase, or chose to ignore the reasons he shouldn’t and let himself indulge? Or push his feelings deep down and not once mention it to Violet?

summary of the persona 4 golden anime audio drama: boo!

Adachi is in this one. Thank god. I put this under a read more cause there's quite a bit to describe.

This one takes place before Naoto joins the Investigation Team so no one knows she's a girl yet. At Junes, the gang are telling Marie about their class trip to Tatsumi Port Island: Visiting Gekkokan, going window shopping, going to Club Escapade (Yukiko has no fucking clue what happened at Club Escapade and Chie tells her its for the best lol).

Marie also wants to make memories, so Rise suggests they figure out something to do with her. But they already went to the beach, the shrine festival is already over, there were fireworks, etc. Rise wants to go to an onsen, but Yosuke is a bit too overly enthusiastic about the idea, and Chie vetos it because "it's too hot out" (I'm fairly sure the implication is that Chie actually vetoes it because of Yosuke's reaction to the idea of seeing Rise at an onsen as Chie is still in her "compare herself to every girl" arc, but she just says it's cause of the weather).

Yukiko's suggestion of something cool and hot is a test of courage, which everyone except Chie is on-board with. Yu suggests they do it at Tatsuhime Shrine. The group recounts how there's been reports a woman in a white kimono, the cries of a fox, and bugs, but the shrine gets rejected cause of how narrow it is. Teddie wants to do it at Junes, but Yosuke refuses. Chie tries to get out of it by saying they don't have a place to do it, but Yukiko then suggests the school. Since Marie is willing to go, Chie gives up and agrees.

At school the next day, Yu tries to invite Naoto, but Naoto is busy due to the case with Kubo. When Naoto asks why Yu even asked, Yu replies that it would be fun if Naoto came along too.

At night, Yu explains that Naoto isn't coming (Kanji is disappointed). Yukiko thinks that Yosuke is going to lockpick the school gate open, like in spy movies. But Mass Destruction starts playing, and it turns out that Yosuke left it open earlier during the school day, referencing what Junpei does when SEES finds Fuuka in Tartarus in Persona 3. Yu begins to call Yosuke, "Brilliant!" a la Mitsuru, but he gets cut off by Yukiko going "Normal", as she and the others were hoping for the spy movie route. No one is impressed by Yosuke except Yu, who now quotes Akihiko, telling him "Good job" lol. (Yu is quoting what Mitsuru and Akihiko say this to Junpei in P3 when he leaves the door open. I think English put C'est magnifique for Mitsuru and Oui good job for Aki?)

For the test of courage, the group will split into pairs, visit all 3 levels of Yasogami High, and stick talismans at the ends of each hallway. They get paired up as Rise and Yosuke (Rise wanted to be with Yu, Yosuke is psyched), Chie and Teddie, Yukiko and Kanji (Yukiko tells him they're going to discover the Mysteries of Yaso High, and Kanji is like "wtf"), and Yu and Marie. Each group takes turns entering the school, 5mins after the last.

Yosuke and Rise enter, and Yosuke is hoping that Rise will cling to him (like, "kyaa sempai i'm scared >w<!!!"), but Rise is totally chill with this as she once filmed something at a school at night time for a program and it seemed haunted/cursed. Yosuke assumes it was just a set, not a real thing, and Rise gets upset he doesn't believe her. Meanwhile, Chie is terrified walking around with Teddie, and wants to go back to the entrance. Teddie messes with her / scares her by saying that if she goes outside and waits for the others, she'll be all alone, and ermmm insert a lot of muffled unintelligible screaming during which Chie gets afraid and tries to get into Teddie's bearsuit but I can barely make out the dialogue over the two of them yelling at each other lol.

At Shiroku Pub, Dojima is drunk as hell and bitching about Naoto, saying that Naoto should be in school instead of helping the police. Adachi gets a bit "well, ahkstually" and brings up how Naoto literally goes to Yasogami High, and Dojima gets pissed lmao and is like no you dipshit why is Naoto allowed to work on a murder case despite being a high schooler. Adachi brings up how Naoto is this super genius and they might not have caught Kubo without their help, which reaaaaally just pisses off Dojima even more. He tries to pour himself another beer, and ends up spilling it. Adachi tries to spin this into a positive, saying that they will have free time. Except "free time" also pisses off Dojima, so Adachi pivots into how he can spend his free time with Nanako. But instead of talking about Nanako, Dojima invites Adachi to come over for dinner, Yu will cook, etc. He begins to say something like, "the four of us..." before passing out (fairly sure Dojima was trying to say "can be a family"). Adachi then gets a call from someone about a "suspicious person at Yasogami High". He attempts to get Dojima to investigate this, but Dojima is out cold. Adachi finds this all giga annoying, as Adachi always does, but he suddenly gets the bright idea to pawn this off on someone else.

Back at Yasogami High, Yukiko and Kanji are near the music room, and Yukiko asks if they can go in so she can "confirm something". Kanji's brain turns into a romance anime and he's very excited at the idea that Yukiko might confess to him. However, it turns out she wanted to go into the music room to see if one of the Seven Mysteries of Yasogami High -- the one about Mozart having shining eyes in the music room (see: the portraits on the wall in P4 Arena) -- was true or not, and Kanji is like, "...oh". She then tries to see if the other mystery about the Midnight Piano, a self-playing piano, is true or not, when she taps a key on the piano to see if it plays back. Kanji says the word "kanji" (meaning feeling), and this causes Yukiko to do her hyena laugh because "Kanji said kanji", and she presses random piano keys while cackling. The two hear someone outside of the music room, but when they open the door, no one is there. Kanji thinks it was nothing, but Yukiko chases after this person, and Kanji loses track of her.

Lastly, Marie has no idea what's so great about this, so Yu decides to show her.

Yosuke and Rise are hanging their final talisman when Yu suddenly calls Yosuke. Yosuke asks what's up, but Yu doesn't reply and does mouthy breathing over the phone while telling them "b-e-h-i-n-d-y-o-u", then Marie suddenly comes from behind and spooks both Rise and Yosuke, and they start screaming. Marie instantly understands why this is fun, and Yu takes her to scare the shit out of Teddie and Chie next.

Teddie and Chie are "walking" around with Chie clinging to Teddie. They hear footsteps, but Chie doesn't think it's the others cause they don't hear any voices. Marie spooks them by going "I curse--", and Chie begins screaming. Yu calms down Chie, and Marie complains about not getting to finish her sentence ("I curse you"). Yu suggests Chie finally let go of Teddie. Now free from Chie's grip, Teddie reports on how Chie's warmth caused him to see the pearly gates.

Kanji is still looking for Yukiko, but instead finds Marie who moves around a skeleton and goes "I'M A SKELETOOOON", and Kanji is like, completely unphased by this. (Yu thought it was a good idea, but it just didn't have impact.) Kanji asks them if they've seen Yukiko, who ran off chasing a shadow. Yu goes with Kanji to look for her and sends Marie to go wait with the others.

Before returning, Marie begins composing a poem:

You are a reaper who harvested my heart then vanished into the darkness. I am an artist who wanders through purgatory in search of my stolen heart. A ghost, as happy as she is sad. If I must wander forever, then so be it. I'll climb these infinite 13 flights of stairs and dance an endless waltz. You embrace me with eternal darkness itself. And so I sleep in your arms, as a Forever Dreamer.

(The "embrace" is "arm/arms", but it seemed too repetitious for poetry to puts arms on 2 consecutive lines? Also the 13 stairs is most likely because of the superstition about "13 steps to the gallows".)

After, Marie hears someone near her, and thinks Yu might be eavesdropping on her. She gets embarrassed and begins chewing him out by calling him a stupidshittyassholejerkface ghost and telling him to go climb some endlessly looping 13 stairs himself lol. But when Marie goes and investigates, she finds........

Elsewhere, Yu and Kanji have found Yukiko when they hear Marie yelling for someone. The three run over to her, and find Marie and an unconscious Naoto.

Back at Shiroku Pub, Adachi receives another phone call, and we learn that Adachi is an asshole who tricked Naoto into going to Yasogami High alone at night by saying the report about the "suspicious person" was possibly related to the murder case. Adachi tells the other person on the phone that he'll be going over to the school shortly, and hangs up after replying with a bunch of "Yep, uh-huh, yes, sure, yep, yeeep", calling all of this shit annoying. Instead of going to the school, he orders another beer from Shiroku.

Back at Yasogami High, everyone apologizes to Naoto who calls them a bunch of morons. (In JP fandom, this is Naoto's popular line from the King's Game part. Akechi even gets to say it in Royal lol.)

Naoto recaps to why they came to the school: After receiving a call about a suspicious person at the school, Naoto was walking around while waiting for Adachi, but LOL Adachi was drinking and he never showed. But Naoto heard Yukiko playing the piano, and thought it might be one of the Seven Mysteries of Yaso High about the Midnight Piano (this was the funniest fucking thing to me cause it means that Yukiko didn't just make up the seven mysteries shit, it was actually a real thing lmao. I thought from Kanji's reaction that it wasn't a real urban legend in town or w/e).

Naoto tried to convince themselves that this needs to be ahem scientifically investigated, but then Yukiko started laughing, and Naoto ran the hell away, meaning that Yukiko really did hear someone moving around earlier. Then Yu and Marie began scaring people, and Naoto heard all of them screaming while trying to convince themselves that there's absolutely no way there are ghosts or spirits at the school. Finally, Naoto heard parts of Marie's poem: "...reaper... darkness... purgatory... sad... ghost..." Naoto thinks it's the voice of some deceased person, and that there really is a spirit there. Then, Naoto hears Marie again: "wander forever... 13 stairs... eternal darkness... sleep... forever..." Following this, Naoto can't take it anymore, and collapses.

Back in the present time, Chie tries to play it off as hey everyone's okay, so it's fine, and Naoto is like, NO??? NO IT IS NOT FINE??? Seeing how livid and pissed Naoto is, this just confirms for Yu that they reaaally need to get Naoto to join in on whatever they do next time.

I'm coming here to say. Taco does NOT gaf about her health. I picture her getting shot someday for some reason and kicking and screaming when the others try to drag her to an hospital or medical room. She is huffy and stubbornly insist that she is fine and she does not need their foolish help. She would not relent until her body practically forces her to relent. I think pickle is like carrying her all panicking like ''WE NEED TO GET YOU MEDICAL ATTENTION NOW'' and taco despite everything being so angry and answering him with ''I'm sorry pickle...IS THIS OUR GUNSHOT WOUND?!?!'' because the man is like insanely worried for her and her health and is practically DRAGGING her, to get medical help. she is annoyed by the moment but when she is like on the hospital bed thinking she finds it sweet that he still didn't left her to die. Taco thinks lowly of herself so, I feel she does not truly understand pickle kindness when these stuff happens, she brings it up to him and pickle looks at her with the most concerned face ever because taco he may be bitter and resentful but he does not want you DEATH taco. I'd like to think this is a bit of the moment they slowly begin to find a bit of a more common ground. There is a lot to be understood they could never be friends again, but, they slowly begin to look out for each other more often. There is something I love and its pickle looking out for knife to find him trying to get a dissociated taco out of her room to eat something, its a bit of, looking at the vulnerability taco displays in post-canon that makes him frown and perhaps just put some pillows in the couch so she can rest more comfortably.

I feel, pickle is pretty scared or at least shaken up by earthquakes, so like after the finale if an earthquake hit taco would be worriedly pacing onto the woods and all her thoughts are pickle and if he's alright, and before she knows it she sneaks into the hotel and places some warm tea on his door. This ends up becoming an habit, everytime there is an earthquake, taco will sneak into the hotel the best of her abilities and place a cup of tea right under his door, and pickle finds out it was her in post-canon when an earthquake hit and she placed some tea on his table and he finally connects the dots (especially because the one leaving tea at his doorstep didn't left any, because she already gave him tea after all.) when questioned about it I imagine taco reluctantly confirms it and tries to leave but hears a quiet ''thank you.'' coming from behind. They may never be the same again but, that doesn't mean they have to hold onto that heartbreak and resentment forever. (as a fun fact I'd like to think they both would team up to mess with OJ and OJ fucking hates it.)

Reiner!” You yell out from behind him.

“No, y/n I don’t want to hear it!” He barked back, his anger rolling off of him in waves. You groan in frustration. Reiner has been on edge and it’s been causing a strain in your relationship. The constant shifting of personas does nothing but cause confusion in every conversation and no matter what you do, he will not allow himself to open up to you.

“I’m trying to protect you.” He says, using the same excuse which in turn agitates you because you can’t seem to understand why he won’t allow you to be there for him. This was the 5th fight this week and things didn’t seem to be getting better.

It was hard, you all have been together for so long but after everything happened, he changed. He has been way more reserved and gets upset at the smallest things. And intimacy levels have been through the floor. Of course it doesn’t help that your body has been screaming for release for days now but, you were trying to remain patient in hopes that you all could rekindle that flame. However, every time you think you’re both doing good, another fight breaks out and you’re back where you started. Lately it feels like things will never get better and honestly, you’ve reached your breaking point. Especially since that deep dark side of you gets so aroused every single time you see him angry. The heaviness of his breath. The way his nostrils flare. The hardening of his already sharpened features. It was tearing you apart from the inside out and enough was enough.

SG is a very simpler visual novel with a... very questionable reason to exist to begin with, but even with that it surprises you with a very beutiful story of self development and young love in the modern times. The multiples endings all of them are EMOTIONAL DESTROYERS, even the obvious joke-shouting-super edgy ending 1, but just 'cause all the care and love you have for the characters, you feel it in a more deeply way and you suffer watching them like this, giving you strenght to do the best ending possible and. . .oof, that destroys you too, but in a different way

All and everyone of them talk about ona (1) thing that they like and never shut up about it, you can be talking about anything else and- OH here's comes trish to talk about her worm. . .again, or sage and their cooking, or fang and their band. . .i get it, they're character traits and you need to use them but... i don't know these people, i don't know at all these characters at all.

In the first hald of the game you need to at least try to tell me something about them, their relationships, their past and problems, give me a reason to give 2 and a half shit about them... and they try, but everytime they talk and seems to be about to give some context they start to just talk about that one and only thing they like, leaving me with nothing to work with

And that's the problem of volcano high in general to me. Is obvious there's a story, there's a background to these characters and there's real context to almost every conversation they have. . .but we don't know it, we can't see it, we don't KNOW these people and is frustrating. After the 2 hours i just shuted down my brain and every time this happend i just go "oh yeah,some cute experience we don't know about them)

The two musical montages (there's 2 right?) With photos of the group living their lives and interacting with each other. . .they're very cute and seems to be fun, but we don't live any of this. Fuck sake i WANTED TO BE SAD in the ending, i wanted to feel the characters and their lives sliping away at the end

See al these beutiful and impactful moments? Well. . .i'd love to see them, to live them with them

But we don't. They're just a bunch of PNGs passing by at the end as the music continues. And that upset me a lot...

And what upset's me the most. . .you know why i care so much about the characters? Why i need to know their lives and feel something in this story?

It's to sad and so unfair, volcano high obviously was made with a lot of heart and they OBVIOUSLY cares about the characters a lot more than almost anyone in both fandoms, just the "memories" from above show it. But with the game story and characters as they are right now. . .i don't want to compare them so much, but honestly without NG being so important i wouldn't finished volcano high

And about the story itself? Well... is very rushed to say at least

As i said earlier they spent too much time trying to made us meet the characters (but without letting us know them)

To sudenly introduce the meteorite plot and. . .it feels zero important. Yeah it drives the characters to the harsh decisions they're making and how they interact with each other, but for half the game the meteorite is just there in the background and just mentioned over here and there as a reminder. Just to sudenly be the most important thing in the world at the last hour and half of the game.

Before that all the plot is about fang,the band and the battle of the bands (wich i hardly care about at this point)

But. . .fang and the band? Here they made it a very good work

Yeah, fang talk almost exclusively about the band as is their (1) personality trait, but still they manage to make me feel and understand how important is this to them, and. . .wow, i really felt how fang was feeling reed and specially trish leaving them behind and not taking the band seriously (and still having fang at the edge with promises of being a team but without helping them AT ALL)

I mean, there's no problem with reed and trish don't seeing the band as something more than some fun friends time after school and wanting to make something else for their life. The problem is they seeing fang talking 24/7 aboud the band their future together and openly taking life decisions about it and never saying "hey pal, i think you should focus more in a solos career, we don't want to live with the music but we're still friends" or something like that. . .and they do

Trish says this to fang. . .in the battle night, just in the most important night in fang's life, just to say that she's leaving the band in this very important moment and taking choises she never discussed with fang (as fang did talk with trish about theirs)

And the story insist on pointing out fang as the bad person here, who makes all the bad choises and burn all the bridges with everyone. . .but they doesn't

Even at the end with everyone crying and yelling each other, is fang who talk to everyone and says they're a horrible person and you can blame everything on fang because. . .reasons? Idk because with all the choises and talking options we taked at this point, we clearly made fang a very patient and caring person, but still there's one and only way the story was made and was with fang being constantly a bitch with everyone, so it doesn't matter if you take the bad or good options to talk about 6 hours, the dialogues are all about the bad ones almost constantly. And that's fucked and unfair for my dude fang the pterodolphin, i love them so much

But. . .not everything is bad with volcano high

The background arts are beautiful and very colorful, a lot of cute dettails and i love them

The characters? Well. . .it's weird, i love them a lot and they're very unique, in the special images and animations they look soo good

But in the normal gameplay...

They look kinda derpy all the time, and the few animations they constantly use for everything get repetitive after a short while (take a shot everytime trish does the eyebrow rise grin animation, tell me how you died)

The art style in general of the game is very cute and i love it, but for the in-game animations they needed some more time to make them. . .feel alive and les akward

And the music?

I can see where all of this came from, if that leaked script is real it just makes soo much sence about how the final product ended,i can see every original plot being planted as seeds in the final game but never having the chance to grow or even blossom, just a little sapling in the dirt, and that make me so sad. . .

Even with all of that,they managed to launch the game,and leaving out all the controversy i think the game got very descent sales and everything was kinda worth, i really hope they don't give up again with this type of story

But Ko_On and cavemanon are full of talented people and they deserve a chance to grow and shine by themselves

You'd think someone with expertise in deception who makes a habit of putting on a persona of amicable NPC would make a point of never showing his hand at any point, but in reality hes an open and shut book constantly wearing his heart on his sleeve. He almost never hides his feelings around people hes invested in interacting with (read: the companions), and the only feelings he makes a point of hiding are his anxities relating to the Urge, and the occasional embarrasment+indignation+shame at not having the knowledge or skills to perform a basic domestic task.

The one exception to this is when Minthara joined the party and he tried (poorly) to hide his overwhelmingly blatant crush on her. She had just gotten out of a horrifying situation that violated her autonomy and trust and now is forced to ally with a bunch of strangers she had once been in conflict with who she knows don't fully trust her because of it, and he doesn't want to burden her with attending to his own feelings and affections when it shouldn't be her responsibility. He wants to give her the space to come to her own conclusions and feelings, especially because she's been denied that freedom for so long, and he doesn't want Minthara to feel like she has to cater to his affection just to stay safe and secure in camp. Thankfully she doesn't know him well enough to pick up all his tells, but everyone else in camp immediately sees hes head over heels trailing behind her like a lovesick puppy. He isn't subtle LMAO

tldr if he is Experiencing Emotion. youll know. and if hes hiding it, you can bully him to find out LOL

A generic doppleganger would really struggle with Dirge's particular brand of body language (slightly unnerving in a way difficult to pin down or isolate, a combination of a tendency to loom, slip inside personal bubbles, and a general bhaalspawn aura of unease), so really itd take about as long as someone finally noticing they don't have a general underlying anxiety.

Orin however grew up with Dirge and is a deadringer for his body language, where she in particular slips up is his personality. The person he is now doesn't make logical consistent sense with the person Orin knew him as and the end result is always someone harsher and crueler than how he actually is. She just can't square that circle because she relies on the image of Dirge in her mind to cope with the things shes done and the person she is now. So that'd be a tip off.

In the hypothetical of something somehow managing to otherwise perfectly replicate Dirge, all someone would have to do is leave something ajar or off center. Dirge compulsively and fastidiously organizes things and is constantly adjusting things to be on center and facing forward, and its just one of his minor OCD symptoms that helps him with feeling in control, so unless a doppelganger snagged his mental illnesses to boot, just watching him walk by an off center mug would be a massive red flag.

Besides that, Dirge is so unhinged and weird there isn't really much you could get him to talk about or say that'd tip anyone off. Hes JUST a freak skfjsmfhsjfn

Dirge goes back and forth between them because the only time he's invested in a conversation enough to be either, is when he's talking to a companion. And then he just flips back and forth because he LOOOOVES social interaction with them, he is going to get such a good grade in Conversation. He loves listening to his friends talk and he loves talking to them, and he enjoys being a chatterbox with them (yay! autonomy and opinions yippee!!) and he loves when THEY'RE being chatterboxes because at the end of the day he is a shelter dog watching his favorite person come home from work. He just enjoys interacting with them and will flipflop to whatever makes it go on longer+more enjoyable. I think he does tend to come OFF as a talker tho because of how often he has to go prying to make people open up, but getting him to be quiet really is just as simple as opening up your own mouth to talk over him.

The fact that Kenny feels like a realistic guy to you is just so <33333333 the absolute JOY that it brings me. I feel like I don't see enough depictions of him going into his flaws, not just his struggles. Kenny is a very kind-hearted guy, he's very empathetic and he is a huge softie and awesome friend, but the circumstances of his life I see in various instances have made him apathetic to lots of things he deems out of his control, and, on the flip side, hyper-controlling of the things he feels like he CAN control.

"From Dusk Til Casa Bonita" is one of those instances; he's obsessed with keeping Karen safe (probably because no one has ever taken care of him in the way he needed), and he goes to great lengths to even control her social circle without letting her know HE'S doing it (she doesn't know KENNY is her guardian angel!!). This is such a nuanced flaw that makes perfect sense for Kenny and his background and everything life has thrown at him, and I love exploring these less-than-ideal aspects of him and play with his twisted morality, even if it's fueled by love. Idk i could go on and on about Kenny's morals, I'm so happy that's something that stuck out to you in the fic <333

About Butters-- "he's like a caged animal when he's around kenny" is SUCH a good way to put it. I can't get too deep into his character for now bc his pov in the story carries an inherent spoiler for chapters that aren't out yet🤭🤭🤭 But yeah, in the scenes we've seen him in he wasn't prepared to see Kenny AT ALL so he's stuck in a limbo between the happy boy he used to be when Kenny was around and the twisted, unhinged and ruthless person he is now. Zero attachments to anyone, beaten and chewed and spat back out by life. It's one step away from the actual Vic Chaos in we see in canon

and "CAMERAS??? TASERS??? SCAMMING??? ECONOMY WRECKING??? THIS IS WHAT CHAOS WAS MEANT FOR" I FUCKING KNOW RIGHT?????????? Butters has so many skills that in my opinion, if used well, are INFINITELY more scary than any physical damage he could cause. He's shown to be an insanely smart guy, with a knack for everything statistics, networking, money, technology, ... These are modern ways we see large-scale crimes in real life nowadays, and no one is ever prepared for them. Im aware that Loki's design is based on a aready existing military pattern, expecially one used on ships, so its not too far fetch that they used it on a 'water' themed palace. But also feels like they are just teasing us at this point 🥲

Ik it could just be a funny easter egg, but my 2 cents its that its related to how unstable the metaverse is right now.

You know, like when you dream and you see things that are an mix of things you saw in real life, but they make no sense. Thus Whale Loki is born lol

Huh, I actually didn't even consider it might be Loki-related when I first saw the trailer! My first thought was that star pattern you see in some of P5's UI:

But you might be onto something about it looking a bit more like Loki's pattern than the stars... not to mention the- wait, does it have horns, too, even??

I reopened the trailer to double-check that the red stuff coming off the whale actually is part of it, since it's reminiscent of Loki's red braids as well, but as it was turning I noticed it appears to have horns coming off the top of its head (it's upside-down in this screenshot), too!

I think you were right the first time, this feels much more like it's intentionally Loki, and less like coincidental dazzle camouflage. What the heck is going on with this whale??

Metaverse instability is possible, though I'd argue we don't even know if the Metaverse is unstable, so it's sort of a shot in the dark. Let's look back at where we've seen this whale before... I'm pretty sure it's only been in Chapter 3?

We first saw the whale swimming through the waters of the third Palace, towards the start of Chapter 3, the night after Katayama was posted as a phantom and forbidden from interacting with students outside of class, and just before we see it confirmed that Katayama is the Rush Rider. The transition during the cutscene seems to connect the whale to all the copies of that Mementos boss that we then see spawn in Mementos.

We then saw what looks like the whale's silhouette again in the 3.2 trailer, but this time it appeared to be swimming over what might be Mementos instead? It's then immediately followed by another shot of those boss guys spawning in Mementos. Granted, we haven't seen this in the game yet, so these two shots might not actually be shown back-to-back in the proper cutscene.

Since the Palaces are accessed from within Mementos in this game, it's not super weird that the whale might be able to leave the Palace... or maybe getting rid of the Palace by changing Katayama and Akashi's hearts will set the whale free? Either way, I can at least imagine how the whale gets out there. I'm not sure what the watery-looking filter over Mementos means, though, but it's interesting because right now I kind of associate the ocean the most with Wonder, given his Persona awakening and his Velvet Room.

But I really think it means something that the Loki whale was in the third Palace first and foremost. And as I was grabbing those screenshots and writing out the context for its other appearances, thinking about the whale while doing so... I think it might be inflicting something like a weaker Call of Chaos on Katayama and Akashi??

I feel like that's a wild thing say, but it could explain two currently inexplicable pieces of information revealed by the plot: 1) basically everything about the Rush Rider; like Katayama said: "lately whenever she gets on her bike, her body feels hot and her head gets fuzzy. She admits she doesn’t even remember biking onto a train, like in the video on Magatsushin", and 2) why, in Wonder's vision, Akashi snaps and stabs Riko, when that's extremely out of character for him, and also wouldn't make sense for him to do if he just had no desires left.

As we know it from P5, Call of Chaos let Akechi drive people's Shadows berserk, leading to the breakdown incidents- incidents where people suddenly do reckless, usually violent things- which the victims then wouldn't really recall after the fact. That aligns suspiciously well with Katayama and Akashi's strange actions, and we've only seen the whale in their Palace. This whale was barely on my radar half an hour ago, but now that I've typed this whole response out, I'm totally convinced that this is the whale's doing, somehow. So, thanks for bringing it up!

Still no idea why it exists in the first place, or what it might mean if the whale will be roaming free in Mementos after the Palace is gone, though...

Thoughts, explanations, and all that shit i had while writing my latest oneshot

Stand up comedians do NOT make good kidnappers - Robin_The_Robiner - Batman - All Media Types [Archive of Our Own]

SO first up the name. Where did it come from? God knows. I started this fic like ages ago, wrote Steph's first section, and then promptly forgot about it for three months only to come back and scribble the rest out. I dont remember how i came up with the name, but i still think its hilarious so,,

Who is Cassowary? This universes Robin, duh! Since Damian was the first, i thought he'd go for a more intimidating bird. These birds have really sharp claws, and leave wounds similar to those of a blade. Huh. Who do we know who is really good with a sword? Exactly 😎

Writing Steph was hard because I don't know her very well, so I may have projected onto her a little bit (hence the excessive death jokes 😅). I hope it came across that Steph is a detective, like Bruce, but that she's doesn't lazer-focus on that stuff like him. Thats why she focuses on describing Junior at first, not the room she's in or the fact she's chained up. She knows these things, but she only brings them up when relevant. What good is wallowing over being chained up when you could be making fun of your kidnapper, huh?

I'm a bit worried that i didn't make it obvious enough that there is time between Steph's and Bruce's sections. Thats why when we finish Steph's third bit, she's shitting on Junior for dressing like the Joker, but then in the final bit, she's aware that it's Tim. The parts aren't happening at the same time, or right after the other. I hope that was obvious, but im not sure.

BRUCE'S BIT!!! I saw a post once saying that Bruce separates his personas very hard, and i really liked that. When he's talking about Batman, it's only referred to as Batman. When he's having more emotional thoughts, it's Bruce. And, of course, when he's dealing with Crystal (who i don't know very well so probably wasn't well written MY BAD YALL), he's Brucie. The guilt is in all of them, though. Fun stuff!

A big part of Stephanie and Bruce's relationship in canon is, from what i can tell, tense because of the way he treated her when he first met her. BUT in this fic, it's a bit lessened because Steph chalks his shittyness to the fact that he recently lost a son. Also, i think in canon a big part of why Bruce refused to get close to Steph was because of how she reminded him of Jason, which obviously isn't a problem in this universe. Bruce and Steph are still tense, but this time she has the eldest kid on her side pretty easily, cuz Damian feels guilt over Tim LOL

The death!! It's not overly explained, but I do have Tim's death all planned out and shit. It's a mix of the Joker Junior scene from Batman Beyond : Return of The Joker, and then also a little bit of canon. Instead of Bruce being out of Gotham, like in the film, it's that they have an argument. Similar to Jason and Garzonas situation, in how Bruce is angry at the thought of his partner killing, but more so using the Boomerang arc from canon (Tim wanting to kill his Dad's murderer)

Junior's mental state is wild. I'm not writing him with any particular mental illness, mostly because I'm not at all knowledgeable enough to portray something correctly. Instead I'm basing him off of Joker Junior's intro scene, and also me during some of my darkest moments! It's not Pit Rage (i don't lie how much the fandom pushes that onto Jason, similar to the Tim-Doesn't-Sleep idea in which it wasn't canon but then it got popular and was made so, i think) and instead just a extremely traumatised 17 year old!

The teaparty scene was put in there because I wanted Tim to have a hobby that he could share with his mom (because god knows everyone hates Janet because they mess up her character and only look at fanon) and that also can be used to show his mental state. Hence, collecting figurines, and playing with them! Yippee! Thanks to my pal Leo over on discord for suggesting this hobby!! (it was originally stuffed animals but I thought Batburger toys would work better)

Damian and Duke both were the first kids, instead of Dick and Barbara. Instead of Batgirl, we have Batkid, and then instead of Oracle, we have Signal. Damian is Shrike, because that is the most common hero name I see for him and I couldn't think of another. I may go back and change it to Nightwing, because I like the meaning of the name, but it would come from Superboy (Jon) instead of Superman in this universe, so maybe it comes later on? Not sure. need to think on that!!

Drake Manor was, in canon, only bought after Jack woke up from the coma. But, i decided to take the fandom route in which the Drakes always lived there, simply because timeline wise it works better for me. Also in canon, Jack doesn't need the wheelchair by the end, but for my fic, he's not out of the coma long enough for that. I also added a fun basement which defo doesn't exist in canon, so just turn a blind eye to that!

If you saw the original post, you'd know that Bruce was supposed to find Steph through a series of taunting clues. I changed my mind though, because I'm not good at clues, mysteries, or cases. So, a gift with the address is sort of dissapointing, but who cares?

Steph's feelings about Tim are sort of iffy. A really popular headcanon is that Jason was Tim's robin, and thats not true. I'm pretty sure Tim just,, didn't care about Jason? Idk exactly how he felt, but whatever. Steph doesn't hate Tim, in this fic, she just sort of hates how he was as Cassowary. Bruce is full of guilt and won't say a bad word about him, but has plenty of criticism for Steph, which leads to a sort of resentment. He was Cassowary though, so there is also some adoration in her heart. Basically, she switches how she feels about him depending on the situation.

Jack and Robin. In this universe, Jack doesn't know Tim is a superhero. Tim does still take a break, but it's to spend time with his dad after he awakens, not because he's threatened. Dana also (unfortunately) isn't around in this fic, so Jack has more time to spend with Tim. It's sort of a win-lose situation though. More time with Tim so they get closer, but without Dana to calm him, Jack's little bouts of fury are stronger (remember how he fucking ripped out a TV??) so their relationship is more strained, which is why Tim does go back to being Cassowary, just for a bit, before his dad dies.

Hints are sprinkled in Steph's bits that tell on Tim's identity. Not many, because I'm really bad at hints and subtlety, but there are a few. Mentions of shock burns (the electrocution duh), Zesti instead of tea (which is Tim's canon favourite drink, not coffee!!), and his wish that Steph stops being a hero.

Tims motivations are a reverse of Jasons canon ones. Jason forgives Bruce for not saving him, but is mad he wasn't avenged. Tim forgives Bruce for not avenging him, but is mad he wasn't saved. Aint that fun? Thats why instead of beating her up, Tim kidnaps Steph for three days to resemble the three weeks he was held captive before he died. Yippee, allegories! (i think that word isn't right, but i can't think of the right one??!! english is HARD)

He also gets to spend time with everyone which is a bonus! So if you're friends or dating, expect big dinner parties. As rowdy as they can be they're actually quite chill once everyone's had some of Carlos' special in their belly (we all rubbing our tummies like 🤰🤰🤰 after that food baby kahsisbsj)

-ON that, he's very family oriented. Because of his upbringing and how he was raised to his personality, but yeah-man's had to fight for his family from day 1 p much. So big protective older brother vibes here. He'd definitely make a good dad!

- I think his ideal type is someone whose not afraid to stand up for what's right. Assertive and forthright are bonuses, but at the end of the day he seeks someone whose moral compass aligned them with the good of people, or someone who cares about community, and others. Someone who, if they see something wrong, won't just look the other way.

-I think also he comes from a background that's very community centered? So the whole individualistic culture of America and Western cultures would be a bit,,,strange. He grew up poor so could not be him betting the chance to eat on huge amounts of money. Like he's desperate but he thinks gambling is a scam. Bc it is kshsidjd.

★A mirror of sadness: depression, grief & isolation★

After reading this post, I feel like I've been slapped lol he's really more than I gave him credit for, which is why I'm going to add something I learned while I was studying how to write better but whatever... let's get into it.

There's a thing called Foils, Simultaneous contrast and doppelgangers which I'm starting to study in Literature.

So, the thing with Yoosung is that he's there to allow the others shine too. As it's expressed by @yooseven-heaven , he's our mentor, but also, it is important to the whole game in a different way.

You'll see, foils are "opposite" characters. That are there to highlight others either by flaws or skills. So in a way, Yoosung is Jaehee foil. If he was hardworking (or if he lets us know he is hardworking) Jaehee suffer would never be as meaningful as it is, so in hindsight we would never understand Jaehee enough for us to point it out to Jumin. Because his behavior was quite deplorable with her.

But he is not Jumin either, if he was to be as skilled, rich or smooth as the others, the others wouldn't shine through. And also, it is thanks to him that we are told not to overwork ourselves. Several times during the whole game. So if you feel down you just have to look at him for some encouragement. And yes, Zen tells you that too. But he is one of those who doesn't do as its told. He drinks beer, doesn't even eat properly. Let me remind you it's Yoosung who actually eats better than Zen lol so, in a way, Yoosung existence helps Zen to tell us we should eat properly and sleep when its needed... or play games! Ironically I can see a bit of a parallel with these two though I have yet to acquire these endings (i'm too much of a coward lol)

Anyways Jaehee is so busy she can't actually say anything because of that. He also helps the player (at least it has helped me several times lol because I don't want to be like him and complain all day about stuff.) to get over everything faster.

Plus, if you look a bit into his past we are told that he was actually an excellent student, quite popular among girls too and he even rejected several girls under the impression that he would be able to date them in college. And then maybe he would but Rika's death happened. So he would definitely be a great boyfriend material at that time but not after that. What happened to him was basically, depression. But who wouldn't get depressed after all that? Even the song says it so: I miss Happy Rika

What if Happy Rika doesn't only refers to Rika but Yoosung itself?? Just a thought.

Now let's talk about Simultaneous Contrast. And because I suck with explaining these concepts i'm gonna leave a quote I heard from a great video analysis on Jane Austen characters, the video itself and an image where i'm summarizing everything up:

So on one side we have Jaehee, Zen and Jumin who are always working and on the other side we have Yoosung. In middle we have Seven. Who is really hardworking too, but also tends to lose a lot of time playing around. Now keep in mind that while I did say he was trying to mirror us (since we're the ones who are playing the game and so is he) he also has his own persona to add to this mix so it's not disappearing entirely under that mirror.

And this is why Yoosung is important as a character and can stand his own ground.

(Sorry I didn't went into a lot of detail with all the depression and mourning but those things are heavily triggering for me right now so I won't be able to fulfill it properly. Maybe I'll come back from time to time and add a line or two if I can gather my thoughts.)

Thank you!! You know.. I'm feeling a bit random, so I let a random number picker choose which f/o to answer for, and i got a secret one (🤡). I don't think I have spoke about him here before, but I guess it kind of fits the theme of popcorn and balloons, lol.

🍿 — your perception of them and their perception of you?

Bunny - Sees him as intense and kind of terrifying, but can also pity him at times as well. His behaviour can be extremely unpredictable, which leaves her on edge when she is around him. He has defo made her cry by accident from one of his outbursts, and probably felt kind of bad after and tried to calm her down, lol. She can see he is kind of a sell-out, though... so she does pity him and puts up with a lot of his terrible behaviour because she feels bad rip.. Help her. She understands its a toxic back and forth, but can't out her foot down to save her life.

🤡 - Oh God, very chaotic, mixed feelings. On one hand, she is one of the only people who is actually trying to be genuinely nice to him and understand him, while most just write him off as a bad egg (which tbf, after all the atrocities he's committed... she is being a fool for turning a blind eye). But at the same time, seeing pity from her riles him up and he does get pretty annoyed that she perceives him like she feels sorry for him. So he can be kind of snappy, then kind of regrets it... I think he kind of wants to have a genuine connection to her at times but his cycle of bad behaviour prevents it.

🎈— what is your most precious memory with them?

Bunny - Going to the carnival together! It probably felt like the most normal day out together that they had, which is rare for them. But she didn't know that behind the scenes, he was pulling strings to make it work out. (E.g. getting his henchmen to rig carnival games so that she wins, or straight up threatening workers with violence, stealing from food stalls, ect, ect.) deep down he just wanted her to have a good time, and didn't want anything to risk ruining that.

🤡 - When he convinced her to join his TV show as an assistant act. That is when she took on the persona, Bunny The Clown. He worked very hard on her costume and makeup so that they matched, so seeing it all come together while they were on air for the first time made him feel like he succeeded at something that he always dreamed of.

🌱 — how do you make up with each other after an argument?

Bunny - Tbh she is rarely the one to do this because he is usually the one doing wrong, lol. But if she does feel like she is in the wrong, she will try to make it up to him by helping him with his projects, like his TV show, assisting with performances, ect. Anything in general that he is passionate about. Honestly, he can play up the 'hurt baby' act pretty well when he wants to and tug at her heartstrings. He will say things like "I'm  a sellout" "nobody wants me here" "I should just give up on being someone" and that will usually be enough to reel her him and help him. so she will end up running around after him doing a bunch of chores by the end of the day. And uhh... sometimes that involves illegal activities too. she will get roped into some kind of heist or other terrible situation against her will, because things just kept escalating, and she was stuck in the middle of it.

🤡 - As I said earlier, his snappy personality can at times upset her or make her cry, or avoid him all together. Usually when this happens he will suddenly start acting all nice. Definitely love-bombs her with gifts, shows up at her apartment and sweet talks her. Stuff like that.

My Thoughts on Persona 1 (PSP)

Hello again! Sorry it's been a while... got busy with University stuff, so lets continue where I left off, in the last few posts I talked about I was introduced into Persona through the Persona 2 Duology, and how I think they are some of my favorite JRPG's of all time now. So after I completed it I really wanted to check out Persona 1, because why not right? So let's just get right into it!

So I really loved this game, I had a really great time with it, which I sort of expected, I liked the P2 Duology a lot and I can stomach old JRPG's. A few things I would like to mention before I talk about what I thought is that I played through both routes, AND that I used a patch to restore the PSX soundtrack. Now it's not that I don't like the new soundtrack by Shoji Meguro, I think it's really good, I just wanted to play the game with the old one because I heard it was really good (and it IS REALLY GOOD but we will get into that later).

So what did I think?

So like always I'm gonna start with what I disliked first and then talk about all that I loved about it.

Exp Distribution

I Thought it was a little annoying that exp was distributed more to the characters that did the most damage, On paper it's an interesting concept, but I think all it did was raise the levels of one party member while leaving all the others were left in the dust. I found myself purposely sandbagging some characters so that there would be an even distribution. (But honestly the game is easy enough where you don't have to worry about it much).

SEBEC True Ending Requirements

I'm not going to say what the requirements are but it felt like something you just flat out need a walkthrough for, you know what I mean if you went for the route.

Difficulty Spikes near the end

I'm not sure if this is me just being trash but I found both the final bosses of the routes to be pretty difficult, if not long. My strategy basically boiled down to "have Boy with Earring and another character gun them down until they die in 30 minutes".

The Recruitable Party Members

This is moreso a problem in SEBEC but I don't think that the game makes it very clear that you can pick your extra party members. Like in SEBEC, most people are going to end up with Brown because, why would you say no to him joining unless you had knowlege that you could get other party members? In SQQ its not that bad because it literally tells you to form a party I believe.

This is the team I took for SEBEC, I actually knew you could get different party members so I chose Elly because I wanted to see how she was like before Eternal Punishment.

Demon Negotiation (Again, Again)

Yeah, i'm talking about it for a third time. But I won't dwell on it for too long, because it's basically the same issues I had with Innocent Sin's negotiation, too many options and it sorta just feels like guesswork.

Things I Liked!

The Soundtrack

Like I said earlier, I used a patch to put the PSX soundtrack back in and HOLY SHIT some of it is really good. Deadline is one of the best boss themes I can think of, every single dungeon has a good song. If it's not catchy, it fits the mood or vibe of the dungeons perfectly. I love the character themes a lot, I love when JRPG's give characters themes because I feel like the themes reflect the characters really well. It's such a shame Hidehito Aoki passed, this is one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard and he should have been proud.

(Correction: The soundtrack was made by multiple people and not just Aoki, but still his work on the soundtrack in amazing!!)

The Gameplay

I actually really like the gameplay, I know its a big joke to say "Persona 1 is the walk into walls simulator but i felt like people were making it out to be much worse than it actually was. Going through dungeons felt smooth once you got used to it (this was also my first dungeon crawler where it is in a first person perspective).

There is also the actual in game combat where I think its pretty alright as well! I actually like the grid system, I know some people say that "oh it's just the Final Fantasy row system" and I think it has a lot more depth to that. There were a lot of times when I had to consider characters placements for things like their guns, melee, or magic usage because different placements are better for different things.

And similar to the P2 Duology, I loved the customization of the character due to the fact they can all change their personas! I love customization in RPGs in general and I had a really fun time customizing and building each character. But I think this is further enhanced in P1 due to the fact that you can actually choose what party members you want in your party as well. Its a pretty cool way to increase replayability, and I had a fun time planning out my party to try out most of the characters in the two playthroughs that I did. (The only character I never ended up using was Reiji because I was already locked out of his unlock method when I realized, but its okay cuz I like Elly more probably).

The Story

I think the story is really good, especially SEBEC. Maki is certainly the star here, I sort of considered her the real main character for most of it. I Think the dream world and her progression as a character was really human, especially Pandora, which I don't want to spoil. Aki is also a cool recurring villain and so is Kandori. Kandori especially is badass, this is probably me being affected by his appearance in Eternal Punishment.

And not even mentioning the Snow Queen Quest. I was completely blown away by the fact how the game just has another entirely different story to it that is almost as good as SEBEC, it really makes you wonder why it was cut from the original. It has this "Cave Story has a 4th ending" vibe to it (If you know, you know) that I really vibed with. I think the concept is so cool as well, uncovering this secret that you were never even supposed to know and trying to save Ms. Saeko, and then learning her relation with the Snow Queen, I was really invested. I already really liked Yukino and this cemented her as one of my favorite characters in Persona. And I loved at the end it explained how it connects itself to SEBEC so they are both canon. The towers and what they represent are really neat as well.

Overall, I think its a solid time no matter what route you pick. Again my only gripe is getting the true ending in SEBEC is a little strange, but trust me its worth it, just put up a guide once in a while.

Guns (and how broken they are)

Okay yeah this is a strange one but hear me out, Guns are really broken, but also really fun. I liked how every character had a solid method of doing multi-hit damage, and I was a but sad how the Persona games that followed this never had this again. It was funny having a little powertrip when equipping charm bullets. But eh, it sorta balanced out by having some of the characters have pistols, or shotguns, which generally weren't great. I usually took those characters and focused them to be more magic oriented, i liked the uniqueness of each character. Not to mention how having a few great gun characters for the final bosses are basically necessary.

The Vibe

Finally, There is something about this games atmosphere that I feel like is unmatched. I talked about the atmosphere in Eternal Punishment but this is a different feeling. Thanks to the PSX music it really felt dreamlike, which is fitting due to a majority of SEBEC's setting being mostly in Maki's mind. Experiencing and exploring Maki's ideal world gave me a feeling I can't really describe, it felt "off" but also at the same time, comforting, you really have to play it to understand it (Which you should!). And then SQQ's Ice Castle has this almost oppressive vibe, seeing the school almost barely recognizable under the snow. Seeing how all the kids are living and surviving this situation, it was cool.

I Love this world map, its so awesome (And the music is so dreamy).

Conclusions

I really enjoyed my time with this game, I didn't enjoy it as much as the P2 Duology or even P4 (which I played after). But I do have a lot of respect for this game, it has a lot of good ideas and I think it executes it pretty well. Persona is such a strong series of games where even if I think this is the weakest Persona game, this is still one of the best RPGs ive played in recent memory. It was such a joy to not only see where this series started, but also just to see these characters that I fell in love with when I saw them in Eternal Punishment. And then just experiencing the story and the atmosphere is worth the playthrough alone. This is going to be a game that will stick with me for a long time, and I really do recommend it. Don't be intimidated by people saying it's "outdated" or a "walking into walls simulator" because I think it aged well. And with that I have talked about the entire original Persona Trilogy, personally I couldn't ask for a better introduction to the series, albeit a bit unorthodox. I eventually did get around to trying the newer games as well with Persona 4, which I also fell in love with.

I do plan on writing about Persona 4 and the rest of the modern games (when I finish Reload and 5), but for now I think my next post will most likely be about Shin Megami Tensei IV as I am playing that right now and spoilers, it might be one of my new favourite RPGs (coming up on my first ending I think, definitely on law, things are a little 'blasted' right now). But with that, please give Persona 1 a try, it definitely deserves to be recognized and praised. I believe it's an underrated classic.

Summary: On one side of the coin, you're this super serious and sneaky agent that will get the job done at any cost, and do it efficiently. On the other side of the coin, you're super sweet and playful that loves to sing and dance.

The mission is simple: get to the control center, download all the files they have, and delete them off their servers. Sounds easy enough, right? Well, it would be except for this building is highly guarded and will definitely have ten times more guards than you have people on your team. Your goal is to get those files and delete them, Wanda is responsible for getting the civilians out of the building safely, Sam is securing the perimeter from the sky, and Bucky and Steve are tasked with taking down the guards when they come after you.

Wanda stands at the front of the building and uses her magic to connect with the people inside. Her magic influences them to leave no matter what they are doing and people start to leave the building immediately. You, Steve, and Bucky walk into the building and push past the people who are trying to leave. The first three floors don’t have any guards waiting. The higher you go, the more they come out like insects.

When they start shooting, you three duck behind two of the desks quickly. The elevator is on the other side of the room which you need to get to to reach the control center. It’s on the top floor and there is no way you’re climbing up all those stairs.

“What do we do?” Bucky asks.

“You two take them down. Cover me. I’m going to the elevator. You have the shield. Use it to take the bitches down.”

“You got it. Go now.”

Steve throws his shield at five of the soldiers who are knocked down by the impact of the shield while Bucky starts shooting. You jump from desk to desk and flip over two of the soldiers elegantly. Years of gymnastics finally come in handy, and you’re silently thanking your mom for forcing you to go to those lessons. One of the guards aims his gun at you but it’s knocked out by Steve’s shield before he can shoot.

You take one of your knives and expertly throw it at the elevator button so that the handle of the knife bounces off the button. You flip over two more soldiers and catch the knife before it can touch the ground. You turn swiftly and fling the knife into one of the soldier’s necks who tries to come after you. The doors to the elevator open just as you reach it, and you quickly press the button for the top floor.

“Okay, I’m in the elevator,” you say into your earpiece.

“Perimeter looks good. Keep doing what you’re doing, guys,” Sam says from above.

The elevator stops at the top floor and when the doors open, the two guards posted at the door to the control room turn to face you. They raise their guns to shoot at you but you’re quicker than they are. You cartwheel over to them and push up on the ground so you fling yourself at the guard on the right. You kick the gun out of his hands and cling to him from the front, turning him so that he’s in between you and the other guard. You take your other hidden knife and stab him in the head, and you jump off his body before he goes crashing to the ground. You kick him in the chest and send him flying into the other guard. You grab the first guard’s gun and shoot the second one twice in the chest and once in the head for good measure.

You walk into the control room where there is a man sitting at a desk. He looks like the kind of man you’d call to come fix your computer if it stopped working. You know, someone who works at Best Buy and all they want to do is tell you everything about the latest model they have in stock. He jumps at the sound of you kicking the door in, and he raises his hands in surrender.

“Move,” you say and motion with your gun.

He slides away from the desk immediately. He must have been taken hostage to help these guys do whatever they needed to get done on the computer. You set your gun down knowing he isn’t going to be an issue and grab the flash drive Fury gave you from your small pocket. You plug it into the machine and begin the process to download all of the files. As you wait, you turn to the man who hasn’t taken his eyes off you since you barged in.

“Please don’t kill me.”

“Don’t worry, kid. You’re safe for now.” Once all the files are downloaded, you remove the flash drive and wipe their entire hard drive. You pick your gun back up and approach the young man who shakes in his seat from fear. “Get up.” He stands up and you fix his tie, glasses, and hair. “You’re a smart kid. You should get away while you have the chance.”

You pat his shoulders and leave him alone to fend for himself.

“I got the files. Get the hell out of here now,” you say to your team.

“Roger Dodger,” Sam says.

Your team gets the hell out of Dodge and returns back to the compound where Fury is waiting.

“Your flash drive,” you grin and toss him the small device.

“Nice work. I’m impressed.”

“That easy,” you wave him off. “Alright, I will be taking a long bath. Don’t disturb me.”

You break away from the group before anyone can say anything and immediately head to your room. You’ll take a bath eventually but you need to check your social media notifications like you do every day. You have thousands of comments waiting for you on YouTube, three times that in likes, and that’s only covering one social media platform.

Apart from being a deadly assassin/spy for the Avengers, you’re a passionate singer who has a large following. You love singing and dancing and have made good money off it, and people seem to love the cover videos you do online. It’s how you started off which turned into you writing your own music. You don’t have a lot of songs to call your own, but you’re learning every day how to be a better songwriter and performer. 

Soon, you hope to have an album out.

There are a lot of comments online asking you to sing and dance to “Show and Tell” by Melanie Martinez. You absolutely love her and all of her music so this is something you’re excited to do. You’ve watched that music video and the K-12 film hundreds of times so you’re confident you can copy the dance that goes along with this song. You’re going to be playing the actual song by her through your speakers so you know how to stay in sync with the music, but you’re going to remove the audio and replace it with your own cover of the song. You always make your own spin to the songs you cover but your followers seem to love it.

You change out of your Avengers outfit and into something more child-like like the puffy pink dress you have. Wanda gifted you this when she held a pink-only party a few months ago. Once you’ve completely changed your look, you set your tripod up where you want it and begin the song.

Steve had just gotten out of the shower when he heard music come from your room. You don’t have a bathroom in there, so how are you taking a bath and listening to music in your room at the same time? He puts a thin shirt on and sweats before going to find out what’s going on. He knocks on the door but the music is so loud that you don’t hear him. His curiosity gets the better of him so he slowly opens the door to give you time to stop him if you’re paying attention.

“Y/N?”

He peeks his head in to see you dancing with a pink dress on in front of your camera. He smiles widely at the sight of you doing a complete 180 in personality. The woman he fought with today is a deadly assassin that kills when promoted, but the woman in front of him now is nothing but a huge sweetheart. You turn to face your door to continue the dance when you notice Steve standing there. You gasp and quickly turn the music off to confront him about the sudden intrusion.

“What the hell?”

“I’m sorry. I knocked. I can leave if you want me to.” Your cheeks heat in embarrassment. No one should know this about you. Your reputation might be tainted if people see you as something soft and loveable. “Don’t be embarrassed. This is cute.”

“It’s not cute,” you groan. “I have a large following that loves these videos. They don’t even know I’m with the Avengers. I love to sing and dance, and sometimes I perform in small settings like bars for decent money. We see such gore and bad things every day, and this brings joy to a lot of people. I use my skills to hurt people so this is something I can do to make people happy.”

“You don’t have to explain yourself, but I think this is amazing. We all do things to counteract the bad.”

“What do you do?”

“Help as many people as I can. Can I sit and watch?”

“Okay,” you blush.

You start the second verse over again so you can resume your dancing, and Steve takes a seat on your bed out of view of the camera. People would freak the fuck out if you had Captain America sitting on your bed, and that’s not the kind of publicity that you need right now. Steve watches as you resume dancing and he can’t help but think how different you are compared to how he normally sees you. 

Not many people know this side of you, and he feels special knowing he’s one of those very few people.
