She was out of time.

A final lurch. Her body was back - she doubled over in pain - every nerve reconnecting, every sensation too loud and too quiet all at once. The interface ports force-ejected, the medical system pumping another dose of neural stabilizer into her - to bring her back. She was herself again, and she was still sick. ADDICT fell limp - falling to its knees in the sand, entire body cold and limp - a steel ragdoll. Short range comms were down - the surviving guardsuits would have to finish the mission without her.

Headache. Seizure?

No, just sleep.

Just sleep.

Then, sunlight.

The walls of a Kannazuki hospital - a window with the view of NEST-01. Her home - all urban sprawl and neon, stacked high to the sky - a pile of plates on the verge of collapse.

Her pilot suit had been removed, replaced with a drab hospital gown. A rat's nest of cables, IVs, and wires were connected to her - oxygen mask, intravenous nutrient fluid, neurological and biological monitoring equipment. Each piece looming over her like terrified family member, praying for a miracle. She must have been out for a while this time.

She blinked - difficult, but possible. She could even get her mouth and nose to twitch - maybe the recovery wouldn't be that annoying. She tried her fingertips, her toes. Little motions, faint twitches. Good, we were making progress.

Then came the big ones. Arms, legs. neck. Nothing. She'd be here for a while, probably a day or so before she could move on her own.

Her handler would be angry, again. Why wouldn't they? She was just a number - a tool to be applied when the company deemed it necessary. A last resort. Kannazuki had another HAZED, a better HAZED - the perfect HAZED, but ASTRAY was just one person. They couldn't be everywhere at once.

In another week they'd patch her up, adjust her meds, and then send her back out again, and the whole cycle would repeat.

She envied the OZM in a way, torn to shreds and discarded. At least when they broke, they were free. When she broke, they fixed her. She was too valueable, an investement. A bad investment, but the only one they were allowed to make.

She hated Kannazuki - she hated being sick, and she hated being a HAZED. She wanted to hurt them, the people and things that made her sick. But she couldn't escape it. Instead, she lived.

Every day she lived, every near-failure of a mission, every hospital visit, mile-long repair bill, and medication adjustment took resources the company couldn't afford to waste. Time, money, research - she would take it all, take everything she could.

Mutually assured torture - her final, defiant revenge.

Sephy forced a smile, closed her eyes, and returned to sleep.

Xavier was an Ouros, a minor spring deity of the mountain, son of Vincent, an aspect of Apollo and harbinger of spring.

Vincent worked for Persephone, responsible for melting the snows of winter and blossoming mountain flowers to welcome the goddess back from the Underworld.

The design of flowers had fallen to Xavier once he came of age, and he hated every moment of it. He held no love for spring flowers and found them rather boring. What was worse, the Queen of the Underworld paid them no mind, and even seemed to resent her time during the Time of Light.

Xavier didn’t blame her as he found all the spring gods and goddesses to be boring and insufferable.

He always wanted to question Persephone on her time in the Underworld, but Vincent had strictly forbidden it.

On the cusp of a new spring, someone was turning his bright flowers black. Xavier presumed it was some satyr or mischievous sprite. He actually rather liked these blooms, he thought they were beautiful in their stark darkness against the backdrop of an evergreen spring.

His father, however, bade him to investigate and punish whoever dared to tarnish Persephone’s welcoming blooms.

Xavier rolled his eyes but did as he was told. He kept vigilant watch over the bright flowers which had been the same as they had been for the past hundreds of years. He could not have cared less if the entire field burned away.

That was, until he saw a beautiful Lamped emerge from an Avernus, an entrance to the Underworld. From his hiding spot, he witness her turn all the bright flowers into velvety black.

He approached her and he was impressed that she held no fear, she even looked like she was daring him to admonish her. She was a tiny thing and he almost dwarfed her with his height.

She rather liked what she saw, this tall young god of spring with platinum hair and eyes the colour of the green moss that grew in the marsh next to the River Styx.

She said nothing, but turned to return from whence she came, her hand brushing against the flowers as she walked and left a trail of midnight blooms in her wake.

Xavier found he cared not what his father or even Demeter, paramount goddess of the Harvest in the High Pantheon, thought.

He followed her to the Underworld. He did not flinch at the sight of Cerberus, but he smiled when she gave the three-headed hellhound an affectionate pat on its third head.

He continued to follow her past all the rivers of Hades: Styx, Lethe, Archeron, Phlegethon, and Cocytus.

They followed the River Archeron, the River of Woe, until it ended at a field of black flowers in constant bloom.

She then led him to an orchard, where hung heavy and ripe black pomegranates. She leaned against the tree and smiled mischievously at him.

Her smile grew larger when he picked the fruit and tore it open. There in his hands, the fruit of the Underworld, watered by the misery of mortals, was the ruby red seeds that would trap any who dared eat it.

The juice ran down his hands like blood, and he contemplated his fate.

Persephone ate six seeds, and she was compelled to stay there six months out of the year. If he ate twelve, he would be there year round, forever.

Xavier ate the whole fruit, not wasting a single seed.

When he was done, she kissed his red stained mouth and he smeared the blood red juice across her face as he pulled her in flush against his body.

They made love under a starless sky and to the screams of the damned.

Neither held any shame when they were found in each other’s embrace under the pomegranate tree by Morticia, goddess of ghosts and death magic, and Gomez, her consort who had sacrificed his entire family to get her attention.

“My Deadly Viper, what have you done?” Gomez used the term of endearment, no real heat to his question although the presence of a spring god in the Underworld, now trapped forever, would cause problems with the Living world.

Xavier blinked, looking from his lover to her parents, realizing who she was.

Wednesday, goddess of Woe and punisher of the feckless and foolish.

She merely smiled and slowly brushed her fingers from his chest to his mouth, bringing attention to the red stains that denoted he had eaten the fruit of the Underworld and was hers.

They were considered married under the laws of the gods, and Vincent and Demeter threw fits, though there was naught anything either could do. Not only had Xavier eaten the fruit, but he had also done so voluntarily.

Both spring gods had threatened to turn the world barren again, much like Demeter had done for Persephone.

The young lovers were surprised when their Queen had stepped in and defended them. She would not allow the world to suffer just because two gods were throwing a temper tantrum.

Once she was done dressing down her mother and Vincent, she winked at the two young gods and was happy for them.

The imposing and frightful beautiful Queen of the Dead put Xavier charge of making dark, poisonous blooms.

Nightshade, Aconite, Oleander, Foxglove, all beautiful but deadly flowers that helped the swell of dead grow in the Underworld.

All made for his love, Wednesday.

Ya twisted my arm (jk). But a Aemond x oc story starting from slightly from the perspective of her mother. Some details that I think would be hades x persephone coded

- house [redacted] (I’ll think of a name lmao) is a stormlands house made up of our oc (I like the name annora but I also like having flower motif) her two younger sisters and brother, and her parents -Johanna and Omar

- their sygil is a narcissus blooming through rain. It sort of symbolizes how their house sits in the intersection between the reach and stormlands/dornish marshes. Much of their wealth comes from being around extremely fertile area and what grows there. Let’s say both team green and black go there (over house Baratheon) based on that wealth

- random but i sort of like the idea of house Baratheon feeling a bit slighted that Aemond didn’t come to their house. they are like daeron will marry whoever as a conciliation prize (daeron slays but you know what I mean)

- Aemond specifically came there for annora. Johanna instantly gets #bad vibes. Not even just the obvious war thing but just the way Aemond is looking at her daughter is NOT sitting right with her. So, she lies and says her daughter is betrothed to another. Omar, completely oblivious, is like no she isn’t????

- now I go back and forth between if this Aemond is charming enough to put the rizz on annora. On one hand, I think both book and show aemond have to work themselves up bc of insecurities. But ngl something about that probably bs account, bc it’s from mushroom, of book Aemond kissing all the Baratheon girls lives rent free in my head. Like why would he do that 😵‍💫😵‍💫

- a hot prince shows up on a dragon saying he wants to marry you, there is only one answer. She’s here for it. Johanna pulls Omar to the side and is like ummm our daughter could be essentially a war prisoner. Now I don’t think Omar is a bad dad, he loves his kids. But do I think he’s super smart? Probably not lol. He sees baby targs with baby dragons. He thinks about tides changing and stormlands houses swearing fealty to them

- the luke stuff happens in front of them. Johanna is mortified, annora is still like “but mom, he took his eye of course he wouldn’t like him ☹️”

- now I kind of like deviating from the book and show in the sense that no one really knows what happened to Luke. Pieces are arrax do not wash up. Did he die on accident? Did Aemond/Vhagar kill him on purpose. Did luke runaway? Who knows. Obviously people think Aemond did something but 🤷🏽��♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

- they still get married despite Johanna pleading to her husband to not let this happen. Annora and Aemond have a traditional westeros faith of the seven wedding BUT and here’s the kicker. Aemond wants a Valyrian wedding as well. I really don’t care about whole blood binding thing (If y’all want to pretend she has distant Valyrian blood go for it). I just like the idea of the blood being a similar motif as the pomegranates.

Anyway I don’t want this to be too long. Just in case I’m a glutton for punishment and actually do this. But yeah it spirals from there. Aemond descends further into madness as people think he is kinslayer. He probably puts a lot of energy/obsessiveness into his relationship bc of it. Very much ‘but you don’t think I’m a murdering psycho right baby 🥺’ while cleaning off his sword of blood. Johanna just wants her daughter back… it’s a mess y’all.

"Mama, look! I got these for you!"

Someone's extremely proud of himself as he comes running into the room trailing mud after himself. Muddy footsteps, muddy all up to his knees and elbows, mud also liberally spattered everywhere else.

In his hands is a small bouquet of a couple ghostly pale plumes of reed and a whole bunch of marsh mallows, with some of the stems trailing down quite far as Adonis apparently got tired of trying to neatly snap only the flowering tips of the tall herb off.

"Thanatos told me there were flowers in the marshy areas," he adds, lowering his voice as if this is a great secret. "I found a spot behind the palace!"

At least he didn't go running off far..?

Persephone turns, her pleasant smile briefly replaced by surprise at the sight of the boy running into the inner chambers. It seems that little Adonis was there, somewhere beneath all of the mud and muck that clung to him. Fortunately for them both, she had never been particularly afraid of a little dirt now and then, and she lowers to her knees to better receive her darling boy.

"Oh, did he now?" Her own voice lowers to that same conspiratorial tone, laughter playing throughout. Careful hands take the bouquet, the reeds and mallows that he had so diligently plucked for her. Thanatos would be receiving an earful, no doubt, for encouraging the explorative boy to go out into the marshes alone. But, no harm done, it seemed.

"Well, what do you say we find a nice vase for these, and then get you all cleaned up, hm?"

Sephy was tired.

She had slept 16 hours, but she was tired. She was always tired, this wasn't new, and maybe, sometimes, it wasn't annoying, but today it was. Today she had to work, she had to get up and do what the company told her to do, be their good little HAZED and kill anything they threw her at.

She got out of bed, pushing her stuffed rabbit to the side. Her stomach turned - too fast, had to slow down. Gotta remember not to go that quickly, throwing up on her bedsheets wasn't a fun way to start her day, and besides, she didn't have the cash to buy new ones again - rent was due.

The notification light on her phone blinked, probably her handler, a medication reminder, and a debt collector, if she had to guess. At least one of those were useful.

She fumbled around, looking for her medbag. The dim light filtered through the blinds didn't help any, but “bright lights” and “I just woke up” didn't mix - best case scenario she get a migraine, worst case scenario, a seizure. She found the autoinjector, pulled up the side of her nightgown, grit her teeth, and jabbed the device into her thigh.

It hurt.

It hurt.

It hurt so much, she wanted to cry.

At least it was better than being sick.

She changed - from the nightgown into her pilot suit, plugging in the neural adapters into the ring of plugs around her neck. The third-generation dive system was supposed to be safer. It was supposed to be easier. But it made her sick - she was the only HAZED that got sick.

Chapter I :

When he reached the base of Mount Olympus and had been face to face with Humans who had called themselves ‘Worshippers’- Hades hadn’t understood. However he had remembered how almost over night he had been gifted with a jolt of power, The hot flames he could conjure had turned from a resilient red to a cool but powerful blue- And he had understood, These Human creatures gave his siblings power in life and inevitably gave it to Hades in death.

He had even had a few short conversations with them, Careful not to touch them as he hadn’t wanted to bring their life cycle to an untimely end. They had asked him for his name, Which he had simply given them a shake of the head- They didn’t need to know he was one of the very beings they left gifts for at the bottom of a mountain. When Hades had made the decision to return home, The life surrounding him made him feel almost uneasy- A small disciple had tugged on his cloak.

Hades had turned to view the small creature, His brow raised at the thing in front of him- The small human smiled and spoke “It's okay to not like the name your mother gave you, Many people don’t- I don’t.”

This week was back to school where I live. The public schools are all virtual for at least this quarter. My nephews however went back in person as they go to a small private school.

You’d think being the goddess of the underworld would be living the life, but for Beverly Marsh, aka Hades, it was anything but. For starters, the poor girl was stuck underground for a good majority of the time. When she did come to the surface of the earth, it was only to collect the souls of the deceased every now and then when they couldn’t find their way to an entrance.

On this particular day, the goddess of the underworld planned to visit to steal some pomegranate seeds to plant a garden and make her dark city more colorful.

The girl ordered her servants to ready her carriage and watched as the skeletons rushed to do so. Knowing that her beloved Cerberus would listen to only her, she rose from her throne and made her way outside. Walking into the dark courtyard, Beverly was greeted by skeletons and spirits rushing about getting her carriage ready. She crossed to the black object and rested her hand against the side. She looked inside and admired the cherry red interior before turning away and raising her hand to her mouth, whistling.

In a matter of seconds, the ground was rumbling as Beverly’s pets came running. She grinned as three giant dogs ran up to her, butting their heads against her and happily barking.

“Yeah, yeah. I missed you too Cerberus.” She laughed as she pet the beasts. “Wanna go for a run boy?” When the dogs let out a loud excited howl, she giggled and patted each of their heads. “Alright, then fuse and let’s go, baby!”

With a bark, the three dogs pressed together and began melting into each other. To a normal person, this would be a disgusting sight. But being, the goddess of the underworld Beverly saw disgusting shit every day. She turned back to her carriage and waited for a servant to open the door. Once one did, she climbed inside and sat on the velvet seat.

“Thank you, Reginald.” She dipped her head and smiled when the spirit bowed and shut the door. She rested her elbow against the window sill, then jumped when a minute later the carriage lurched forward and began to move.

While the carriage traveled to the nearest exit from the underworld, the goddess busied herself with brushing dirt and dust off of her black and plum colored dress. Had to be presentable to the mortals after all.

Beverly knew she was close to the surface when she heard the growling of Cerberus and felt the carriage rumbling as the earth opened around them.

As the chariot emerged, light flooded into the interior. The goddess shaded her eyes with her arm and squinted, annoyed immediately. Her eyes needed time to adjust gradually, not be thrown immediately into sunlight.

With a groan, she lowered her arm and allowed her eyesight to adjust. She watched the countryside whizz by out of the carriage window. She knew the route they took would be marked with death until Demeter, or Mike, came and took the same path, healing the dead spots with his magic.

She began to lose herself in thought until she felt the carriage slow and eventually stop. She rose from her seat, opening the carriage door for herself and stepping down onto the rung, then onto the ground. The moment her feet touched the ground, the grass wilted and died. Bones from things that had died began to rise from the ground. A deer skeleton pulled itself from the dirt and reassembled, walking forward and bowing its head.

Beverly reached up and rested her hand on the creatures forehead between its antlers. She gave a soft smile and removed her hand before focusing back on the task at hand. As she left and walked towards Cerberus, the skeletal deer followed as well as a few skeletal rabbits and other various small creatures. She pet the three headed dog and kissed his nose.

“Stay, I’ll return in a minute and we can go back home.” The giant beast barked and laid down, wagging his tail. At that, she began walking towards a grove nearby where she spotted pomegranates hanging from the trees, as well as red apples. As the goddess neared the grove, she noticed the trees would wilt only for a second before returning lush and green only a mere moment later.

Beverly was amazed by this, usually only experiencing death. She traveled deeper into the grove, gray-green eyes wide with amazement as she touched plants and watched them spring to life. The girl stopped when she reached a clearing in the grove.

Light filtered down through the tree leaves, casting speckled shadows upon the ground and a figure that stood at the end of the clearing, underneath a large apple tree. Their back was turned to the goddess, and she sensed no danger from the being.

The girl was content observing the figure until she felt something raking up and down her back. She yelped loudly, lunging forward and whipping around. She was greeted by the skeleton deer from before, as it had decided to follow her. The ginger glared, prepared to send the creature back into the dirt until she felt something wrap around her wrist.

She quickly tugged, finding a leafy vine had sprouted from the dirt and bound her. She turned, a small ball of blue flame forming in her palm.

“You better let me go right-“ The words died in her throat when she was greeted by the sight of her captor. She was expecting either some stupidly brave mortal or an angry god/goddess, but she was greeted by probably the most scared looking human she had ever seen.

“You’re Hades...!” They cried, the vine vanishing almost immediately afterwards. Beverly extinguished her flame and rubbed her wrist.

“Yes? And what of it?” She glared.

The being came closer, cautiously. Their movements and habits at the moment were reminding Beverly of a frightened deer. It was kind of adorable, if she was being truthful.

“My friend.. Mother? Mom friend, told me of you.” They finally stopped at at least an arms length away and Bev nearly melted at how cute they were. They were short, chubby, and wearing a toga and a flower crown. She couldn’t help but feel completely safe around them immediately.

“Oh? I hope it was good things.” She gave a half smile and watched as the other shuffled their feet, almost bashfully.

“Well... They didn’t mention a few things but other than that, good things were said, yes.”

“Well I’m glad. What is your name?” She asked, raising an eyebrow.

“My... Mortal name or my ... God name?” They asked, blinking and furrowing their eyebrows.

“God? You’re a god?” Zeus blessed her upon this day. She had never met a god she didn’t want to kill immediately upon them opening their mouth, much less them walking up to her. So meeting a god and immediately having her chest be filled with warmth and her stomach be filled with skeletal butterflies was something new and welcomed into her life.

“Yes. I’m Persephone.” He smiled proudly, and Beverly swore she could feel the air warm up and the sun brighten.

“Persephone... Perseph- Mike’s friend?!” Beverly blinked, her jaw dropping. She had never paid attention to when Mike / Demeter would run his mouth about how proud of his friend he was and how he “couldn’t wait for everyone to meet him!” And now she regretted it.

“You know his mortal name?” Persephone looked amazed.

“I know everyone’s mortal names, it’s a bonus of being close to Bill.” She laughed, but stopped when she felt the other gods eyes on her. “Are you staring because you didn’t know Zeus’s mortal name or...?”

Persephone shook his head and hid his burning red face. “Oh! Yeah, sorry... Mike doesn’t really call anyone by their mortal names.”

“He’s an old fashioned dork, that much can be said.” The pair shared a chuckle, and Persephone nodded in agreement.

“That’s true. I think he still herds his sheep himself.”

As Beverly climbed into her carriage, she froze when she heard Persephone yell from behind her.

“Wait! Hades!” The goddess stepped down off the rung and turned, smiling softly to herself as she saw the god running towards her. When he reached her, she crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow.

“And what might you need, Persephone?” She asked.

“I want to come with you.”

His response caught her so off guard that her arms dropped to her sides, as well as her jaw.

“You what?”

“I want to come with you, I want to see the underworld.” Persephone gave a shy smile. “I never get to explore and see everything very often, and it’s not every day you meet the goddess of the underworld. I just... I’m tired of being-“

“Okay.” Beverly didn’t need to hear anymore. Truthfully, she’d accept any excuse to spend more time with Persephone.

“Stuck with Mike all da- Wait what you’ll... You’ll let me come?” The god was dumbfounded.

“Yeah, sure. Why not? I’m nothing if not generous.” She laughed, kidding. “Besides, having your company for a bit longer might not be so bad.”

Persephone flushed red at this, giving a smile. “Thank you.”

Beverly beamed and held her hand out for the other to take so she could help him into the carriage.

“Beauty before the Beast.” She said, giving him a playful wink.

When he tripped, she began laughing, and laughing hard.
