#perlesjournal #perlesaerie Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit!!!** First utterance on December 1, 2023 for good luck. In the blink of an eye, this year is in its final days; the days grow darker; solstice and Yule are a breath away. Then voila 2023. A 7 year in numerology, which is pivotal in numerology and symbolizes a period of introspection, change and evolution. The energy is instead asking us to look inward this year. You will need authenticity to have a harmonious life. 🔮 **NOTE: "Rabbit rabbit rabbit" is a superstition found in Britain and N. America wherein a person says or repeats the word rabbit aloud upon waking on the first day of a month, to ensure good luck. #luck #superstition #ritual #rabbit #december #instabham #iphonephotography #timephotooftheday #timeflies #writersofinstagram #thursday #ritual #solstice #yule https://www.instagram.com/p/Cloit2JLdW7/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#perlesaerie One moment it's 11:45 p.m. on a Saturday night, and in the next, it is 12:45 a.m. Sunday morning. I moved my watch & stove clock forward, so I won't forget later at bed time and oversleep on the morrow. My iPhone and computer manage on their own. Strange thing, time. There are days that pass in the time it takes for an ordinary three, and others pass in the seeming blink of an eye. But, as we have only the clock to tell the time by, there’s no real way to prove how interminably longer one day is from the other. I’m reminded of Einstein’s train, and some days I feel as if I’m on on that train and holding on for dear life. #photooftheday #clock #daylight #time #spring #perlesjournal #bohostyle #art https://www.instagram.com/p/Cprd1ySsaG_/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#perlesaerie It’s 8:30 at night and I hear someone run up the stairs and quickly run back down, the front door closes noisily and the screen door slams before I can open my apartment door. I really feel for Amazon delivery folks. Also grateful that they climb all my stairs and deliver to my door. Counting the 22 steps up the the building front door, the two flights up that’s 42. I call it my daily stairmaster. #photooftheday #perlesjournal @amazon #apartment https://www.instagram.com/p/CpjV9LWLuuQ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#perlesaerie All dressed up and ready to go out the door this morning. Then pressed pause. Have a dental appointment today postponed from last Monday. Last week it was at 11:30. Forgot that rescheduled for today at 2:30. Just got my summer Panama out of the closet. It’s old (maybe 10 years), but doesn’t look half bad. So some leftover fried chicken in the oven and a scoop of potato will join the chicken on my plate. Happy Monday y’all. #photooftheday #chicken #perlesjournal #monday #lunch https://www.instagram.com/p/CpdLibZrCRe/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#perlesaerie I love Instagram. It's my oasis. I neither post nor follow folks that post political or depressing stuff of any kind here (that’s for Facebook). I follow positive friends and pages both local and around the world: artists & photographers, foodies, readers, writers, gurus, women of the road, travel, boho style, chefs, restaurants, various cat sites like Bodega cats, pokey pot pie... (I love the cat’s, especially since I lost Jazzmine). And I keep my feed as positive as I can as well. Just sharing the minutiae of my day, art galleries I visit, insights, books I’ve read, poetry I’ve written or read, my morning #perleswalkabout, pictures of whatever strikes my fancy, recipes, etc. #nopolitics #photooftheday #oasis #bohostyle #lifestyle #perlesjournal https://www.instagram.com/p/Cpc6tkmrtdK/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#perlesaerie It’s the last day for a freebee at Penzy’s Spices in Homewood. (Coupon - pic 4). So after watching Today and Sunday Morning, I turned to the Sunday marathon of NCIS on ION. I’ve seen them all, so I don’t have to give my complete attention. Meanwhile I’ve emptied my spice, etc cabinet to see what spices I actually need. Going to need the new ladder to reach the top and the back of these deep cabinets. It’s a beautiful day. So. A perfect day for a trip to Penzy’s and then stroll around Homewood and popping into some of the stores. Also need to pick up a book I’ve been waiting for at the Library. Book 4 in a favorite series. Might even pick up lunch. Then maybe not. I just ate leftover pizza from Saturday, and I still have leftover @publix fried chicken and a fresh spinach salad from Friday I’ll save for late lunch or dinner. I’ll lunch out for next week when I go new iPhone shopping at the Summit. Yup. It’s time. Happy Sunday y’all. #perlesjournal #perleskitchen #shoplocal #spices #sunday #photooftheday https://www.instagram.com/p/Cpay9yJvcZ5/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#perlesaerie My typical lazy Sunday is usually spent at home. Journaled after brief #perleswalkabout then put on the coffee and sipped it in the balcony while journaling. At 7, I tuned into the Today Show then CBS Sunday Morning. Worked on my ToDo list during commercials (heaven knows commercials are long enough to write a novel). Very few red check marks on my list. Just lost a lot of my get up n go since mom’s passing. Working on it. Turned the page on my kitchen calendar as I can see next month from todays date. A lot of events already inked in. The trees are heralding Spring and I am so ready to see the world in bloom again. Now if someone would just put Putin out of commission. 🙏🏻 #perlesjournal #sunday #journal #luckygirl #ritual #bohostyle https://www.instagram.com/p/CpJVUAarGdm/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#perlesjournal Rainy, grey Saturday morning. The kitchen drain that appeared to be cleared although draining slowly yesterday, is now clogged beyond budging. Called landlord. It’ll be cleared by afternoon. Ran to @marketatpepperplace to see if anyone had fresh eggs before buying less than fresh for the same price @publix - no luck. So. Stopped in at Midtown Publix on way home. Pleasantly surprised to find Picard Season 3 opening episode for free on Roku - Pluto. Unfortunately the rest will only be streamed on Paramount. Guess I’ll have to wait til it hits library on DVDs. Meanwhile clogged sink gives me excuse to ignore chores which includes mopping that I put off yesterday. Happy Saturday y’all. #photooftheday #perlesaerie #farmersmarket #shoplocal #urbanlife https://www.instagram.com/p/CpGHmRor_to/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#perlesaerie My view as I read @janetevanovich latest book, Going Rogue before it’s due back @homewoodpublic Library. Always a fun read. My couch backs on the French doors into my studio which is perfect as I open them so I can enjoy the view as I read. Although my living room has window and a windowed door, the huge awning out front obscures the view unless I’m actually out on the balcony. I think it was put up in 1938 when this place was built and before the trees grew large enough to protect from the setting sun. I love this apartment, but if I owned it, the first thing I’d do is remove that awning. Anyway. Back to my glass of wine and adventures of Stephanie Plum and her sidekick Lula while the oven cooks my dinner. Not really hungry, so dinner is my favorite @stouffers Spinach soufflé with garlic toast for scooping. Mañana y’all. #photooftheday #reading #windows #perlesjournal #spinach #books #home https://www.instagram.com/p/Co51IHSrefP/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#perlesjournal On one of this morning’s shows I heard that Staten Island’s Groundhog, Chuck (Charles G. Hogg), did NOT see his shadow on Groundhog Day and predicts that we will have an early spring, which agrees with my prediction. That contradicts, Punxsutawney Phil who saw his shadow, predicting six more weeks of winter. But. The fact is over the years, Chuck is 80% accurate as opposed to Punxsutawney Phil’s 39%. Here’s hoping Chuck and are right this year. Enjoying the apricity of these chilly weekend days. #perlesaerie #spring #groundhogday #winter # https://www.instagram.com/p/CoS_VrTvnaj/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#perkesjournal Since the Birmingham Zoo never bothers to wake Jamie Bill up from his winter’s nap, I walked outside on this cloudy rainy day and did not see any shadows much less mine. So even though Punxsutawney Phil did see his and predicts 6 more weeks of winter, I’m going for early Spring. #perlesaerie #instabham #groundhog #punxsutawneyphil #photooftheday https://www.instagram.com/p/CoKvcgUrbxd/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#perlesaerie Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit!!!** First utterance on February 1, 2023 for good luck kicking off my birth month. One year shy of three quarters of a century - wow. And the Chinese year of the Water Rabbit promises to bring just that - luck. It promises a year of positive changes and artistic endeavors. As it’s the Chinese year of the Water Rabbit, here’s a bit of lore. Whereas many in the west see the man in the moon, other cultures see a Rabbit. The Moon rabbit or Moon hare is a mythical figure in East Asian and indigenous American folklore, based on pareidolic interpretations that identify the dark markings on the near side of the Moon as a rabbit or hare. I’m going w rabbit this year. The rabbit is the symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity in Chinese Culture, thus 2023 is predicted to be a year of hope. **NOTE: "Rabbit rabbit rabbit" is a superstition found in Britain and N. America wherein a person says or repeats the word rabbit aloud upon waking on the first day of a month, to ensure good luck. #luck #superstition #ritual #rabbit #february #wednesday #photooftheday #instabham #time #timeflies #celtic #perlesjournal https://www.instagram.com/p/CoHxsDILG-h/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#perlesaerie Time to change the water, trim the dead leaves, drooping blooms, and 1/2 to one inch off the bottoms from last week’s bouquet. I don’t have the heart to toss the still pretty tops of the droopy ones, so into an Asian bowl face up next to the bouquet. Nice to see across the room from my perch in the couch. Or even thru the open French doors of my studio desk. They’ll all eventually be cut very small and buried in the large pots in my back steps to enhance the soil for my spring plantings. Already saving seeds where I can and buying when I can’t. Right now. More coffee. Later y’all. #photooftheday #flowers #perlesjournal #compost #garden #urbanlife #bohostyle #apartmentdecor https://www.instagram.com/p/CnzbjRjrcHD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#perlesaerie It’s a cool rainy grey day. A hug a mug day. And although I usually take my coffee black, today I made my first mug a chocolate one. In one mom’s favorite mugs. A few heaping Tbs. of Chatfield’s unsweetened chocolate from @goldentemplehealthfoods, a scoop of Collagen, a Tbs. of @eastabogabeecompany honey whirred w immersion blender til a bit frothy. Perfect rainy hug-a-mug Sunday morning alternately, reading @nytimes and watching CBS Sunday morning. My Sundays are for the most part slow and lazy. In Italian- Dolce far niente. #photooftheday #perlesjournal #sunday #newyorktimes #morning https://www.instagram.com/p/CnuJMtlrGz3/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#perlesjournal 2023 is the Year of the Water Rabbit celebrated by 20% of the world’s population. Because the Yin Water element is associated with the color black, some people call this the “Year of the Black Rabbit.” The Yin Water element represents sensitivity, intuition, and, in its most positive form, the way of inner peace. The rabbit is the symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity in Chinese Culture, thus 2023 is predicted to be a year of hope. We could all use use a little looking forward to a little peace and prosperity. In the Chinese culture, the rabbit is known to be the luckiest out of all the twelve animals symbolizing mercy, elegance, and beauty. #photooftheday #newyear #perlesaerie #chinesenewyear #celebrate https://www.instagram.com/p/CnsqNuurj2i/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#perlesjournal Happy Friday the 13th. Do you have friggatriskaidekaphobia or paraskavedekatriaphobia - fear of Friday the Thirteenth? Or just triskaidekaphobia - fear of the number thirteen? You’re not alone. It’s not so much a fear these days as a superstition handed down through the generations. No one knows exactly why 13 or Friday the 13th particularly is unlucky. In numerology, the number twelve is considered the number of completeness. Consider the things that come in twelves: months in a year; hours in a day; tribes of Israel, apostles (Judas was the 13th). Thirteen obviously throws off the whole and bad things happen. Historically, 13th Street and 13th Avenue were often omitted in street numbering; the 13th floor is still skipped in many tall buildings.* As if the not naming a floor 13 belies the fact that it is 13 carrying another label is somehow safer. Personally, I have adopted it as a pseudo holiday. I don my all black attire, patted my black cat (for the 18 years of her life) on the way out the door and wish everyone a Happy Friday the 13th. * Note: The Otis Elevator Company reports that 80 to 90% of the elevators it has installed in skyscrapers and large hotels do not have a 13th floor button. #fridaythe13th #superstition #perlesaerie #blackcat #elevator https://www.instagram.com/p/CnXo4-hP9C0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
