That post about Percy and Annabeth being best buddies is why I don’t like they’re dynamic at all in HoO. Because they do lose that. That fun banter/ back and fourth verbal sparring that made their relationship/friendship so fun in PJO barely exists in HoO. All they do is like. Cuddle. And kiss. And I mean. I get they’re a couple now so it’ll be different to an extent, but it’s like they’re characters did a complete 180 in the sequel series

Yes, finally somebody that acknowledges this.I mean I don't hate their dynamic in HoO and I love them as a couple, but honestly my favourite fanfics of these two are the ones where they act like besties.

I get that they didn't see eachother for over a year but WTH Rick?Where is my fav friendship at?It kinda looks like Uncle Rick (along with the fandom) forgot that Percy and Annabeth had a past together beyond just being eachother's crushes

I really hope we will get more of their old dynamic back in the new book, especially now that Grover is also there.

I'm sorry I don't post a lot on tumblr, I'm more active on my Instagram. Anyway, I think I didn't post it here but those buddies are Jasiper and Percabeth's sons : Logan Grace and Luke Jackson. So here are some fun facts about them : ● Luke is one year younger than Logan. ● They are best buddies since they are 4 y.o ● Most of the time they do some shity pranks together. Everyone always think that it's Luke's idea and he led Logan in it but it's almost always the opposite. Logan is usually so calm that it's difficult to believe so Luke is the one grounded all the time. ● Logan is dating Luke's twin sister, Alexandra. So Luke is convinced that if they were both gay they would be dating. ● Luke always still Alexandra's clothes (even crop tops) but she still Logan's t-shirt herself so it could happen that Luke end with Logan's tee without knowing My next post will probably be about Percabeth's twins or maybe Caleo's child, Esteban. Finishing their trek through high school, Percy and Annabeth head out to college on the West Coast. Following canon, they both go to New Rome for college.

Even though it's been a year, Percy and Annabeth haven't been through proper counseling from their trauma. Not just from Tartarus, but the Titan AND Giant War. Healing together was working, but for how much longer???

Freshman year proves to be a challenge. Annabeth highly prioritizes her schoolwork, along with holding on to a job. Percy, still cares about school, but isn't as concerned as Annabeth. He always tries to find time with her, but her schedule always keeps her busy.

Soon, flashbacks from Mount. St. Helens, Battle of Manhattan, Percy's disappearance, and Tartarus plague their minds. They see their friends die again and again whenever a fight occurs outside of New Rome. When they do see each other, it's quick, and Annabeth soon notices something.

She can't be with Percy anymore. She wants to be, she does. But, whenever she's with him, her mind takes the two of them back to Tartarus. She loved him so, but couldn't do the flashbacks and nightmares anymore.

The recurring trauma began to take a physical and mental toll on Annabeth. Dark lines cup her eyes, she was WAY too moody, and her grades seemed to drop. She would get little to no sleep most nights, especially if she saw Percy or monster fights that day.

Ultimately, by the end of Freshman year, Annabeth broke the ice. With her schoolwork, job, trauma, and stress with Percy, she couldn't take it anymore. The breakup was almost a bloody battle. She cried, Percy cried, he tried to get close but she ran out. She destroyed something permanent. What a hypocrite.

For the next year, Percy and Annabeth slid by each other like a middle school couple after a breakup. Annabeth managed to balance out work, school, and therapy. She smiled again, found time for things other than work, and missed Percy.

Percy, on the other hand, dropped. He refused to take counseling, knowing he'd have to tell someone. Who was he going to express his problems to that wasn't Annabeth? Much like Annabeth Freshman year, Percy dropped.

At parties or activities when all of the Seven were invited, Percy and Annabeth avoided each other like the plague, well when Percy showed up. If they ran into each other, they said their greetings followed by their goodbyes.

It wasn't far into their third year when they got close again. It was almost like their first five years of friendship, yet over the course of Junior and Senior year. They skipped the rivals stage, and entered the acquaintance stage. That soon became friends, to bestfriends again by Senior year.

Everyone thought they began dating again, but they always denied it. With Annabeth back, she slowly coaxed Percy into her habits of counseling, fun, and work. It was an easy pattern sliding the other back into the mix for both of them.

They found times to study together, train together, work togehter, and eat together. They basically lived together, despite it being against New Rome's rules.

By graduation, they were lovers once again. They healed away from each other, thought they lost each other, but you can't lose something permanent.

Annabeth was bored.

Utterly bored.

She was scrolling through her phone as she laid on her stomach on Piper's bed while Piper was sitting on the floor with her back leaned against it, also scrolling through her phone.It was the weekend after their midterm exams and they were (finally)relaxing after a long,excruciating, week of exams. They decided to do something fun but less energy-spending activity. But here they were , locked in each other's world with their phones, not even having exchanged anything more than a greeting when Annabeth arrived at Piper's house .

And that was two hours ago.

Annabeth groaned and flopped around so she was now laying on her back.She was mindlessly scrolling through her tumblr ,instagram and whatnot,refreshing every 2 minutes for new updates that never seemed to come. She was just about to give up and go pester piper when the said girl spoke out for probably the first time in the last hour.

“My for-you page is clogged with these videos,” piper says to no one in particular. Annabeth looked over to find Piper having her Tik Tok open. She rolled and flopped around again so she was laying her head near Piper's shoulder so she could peek over it.

“What videos?” 

Annabeth wasn't a big fan of Tik Tok, but she did keep up with the trends,thanks to Piper and her girlfriend Shel. Annabeth set her phone to the side and leaned forward with her elbows and placed her chin on her palm ,as her best friend tilted her phone so Annabeth could also get the view.

“Oh this new trend I saw the other day” Piper played one of the videos and Annabeth found herself leaning forward. The video begins with a song she vaguely recognizes  as electric love  (she is pretty sure she heard it on the radio recently).

“It's this trend where a person kisses their bestfriend/crush unexpectedly to see their reaction.” Piper explains as the video goes on. Annabeth watches it with a frown as the chorus begins and the girl kisses her best friend and he immediately wraps his arms around her and kisses her back. No.That looks way too easy. And convenient.And staged. And she says as much .But Piper only laughs at her.

“Of Course it looks fake, Beth.What more did you expect from this platform? Half the stuff here is staged and fake.that goes without saying.”Annabeth knows this, but she feels personally offended by the video.It couldn't be that easy to kiss your best friend, could it?they definitely are already a couple, the people in the videos.In all other cases the stakes are pretty high.you could lose them for all you know. But she finds herself bringing her hands to the phone and swiping up ,to see more of these and swats Piper's hand when it comes to push her away.

“Hey watch on your own phone.” but she lets her watch anyway.

Annabeth scrolls through about 10 videos before she stops. Most looked staged ,but there were a few that looked genuinely caught off guard like the one where a girl tried to kiss their friend and the other girl almost pulled away at first.Some even pushed their friend away.Those were hilarious and realistic.at least that's what she thought. Definitely they cannot be true, right? Her frown only deepens as she thinks more about it.Annabeth was in her own dimension until Piper nudged her.

“Hey, whatcha thinkin’ about?” Piper asks.

Annabeth hesitates before answering ,carefully choosing her words or else Piper would figure it out pretty quickly.

“Even if these were real-which they are not-how do these people go on with it? I mean, it's your best friend, sure,but what if it doesn't end well and it becomes awkward between them?or worse lose them because of a stupid challenge?”

Piper looks at her skeptically ,eyes a little narrowed “I mean ,yeah i see where you are coming from, but you just have to trust your gut instincts.Kissing them  out of nowhere isn't the best way to announce your crush ,but you have to have trust in your friendship” and her eyes widens and she breaks into a devilish smile “ you are not planning on kissing me, are you?” she asks, wiggling her eyebrows at annabeth. 

Annabeth lets out a laugh and pushes her shoulder. “ I have a feeling shel wouldn't like that very much” she teases back.

Piper shrugs and waves her hands dismissively  “ she probably already knows ” piper looks at Annabeth with a grin and dangerous glint in her eyes and suddenly the smile leaves Annabeth's face and her stomach drops “ But I figured you wouldn't want to kiss me anyways. You have a certain other best friend who would love to kiss you.” Piper winks at her. Oh god. Annabeth feels heat rising up her neck.Piper knows.She tries to act innocent( but she knows she is failing miserably).

“ What? I don't know what you are talking about.” 

“Oh come on Annabeth, cut the act .Seriously, you guys are the densest people I have ever known in my life , and I have seen a lot.” Piper rolls her eyes playfully at annabeth.

“It is very obvious that he likes you and you like him,but neither of you refuse to take any step forward.Literally anyone who has met you guys for the first time assumes you are together.Anyone with eyes can see it, except you two cause you both are too stubborn to act on your feelings.I am honestly fed up with you two skirting around your feelings”  

Annabeth sighs. “It's not like that piper.he doesn't like me like that” piper gives her a pointed look. “What? You don't know it. Percy has always been an affectionate person in general. I don't really know if he like likes me, or he is just being nice and sweet.” 

“You think he kisses Grover's cheek in goodbye and pulls Jason into his lap during movie nights like he does to you?”Piper looks at Annabeth amused.

Annabeth is about to defend herself saying yes -percy did kiss grovers cheek in goodbye once but piper cuts her off.

“You know what?Maybe you should do this challenge !”

It takes time to resiger what Piper said ,but as soon as it does Annabeth's  jaw drops open and she stares at Piper incredulously .

“Absolutely not! Nope, nada, uh huh, I am not doing that!” she gestures wildly at Piper's phone.

“ You and I both know Percy is not going to make the first move. So I say be a feminist and make the first move yourself.”

 Annabeth pauses and- “thats not what feminism means.” 

Pipers looks at her exasperated “ Oh my god, that's not the point , you dimwit. Point is maybe you should do this challenge maybe the fates are giving you an opportunity , you don't even have to record it, just go kiss him and declare your love for him”

“I do not lo-”

“You're missing the point here”

Annabeth sighs again. She knows there is no way out of it if Piper is set on something. And maybe like Piper had said , what if he did like her ?Maybe that could lead to something.something she has been wishing for for a while .Annabeth felt tingles in her stomach at that thought.her phone pings and she looks over just in time to see the flash the screen saver but the photo is tattooed to her brain, a picture of her and percy cheeks squished to each other , beaming at the person who was behind the camera and holding up bunny ears for each other, it’s a couple years old picture, but the memory is fresh as ever. She looks over at Piper with new found determination.

“Okay,” she tells herself mostly “I will think about it” Piper's face splits into the biggest grin she has ever seen on her, and whoops punching the air.

“Attagirl! That's the spirit!” oh boy, what did she get herself into?

                                                       ------------------

And that's how she ends up in front of percy's house a week later, in front of his door , waiting for him to come out so they could do their monthly routine, where they simply hang out the whole day ,just the two of them together. Senior year had been a pain and spending time with friends was a luxury so percy and annabeth had come up with this plan so at least they could have a day for themselves ,an escape from the outside world’s chaos in their own abode.

She is sweating profusely, rubbing her palms on her jeans repeatedly ,suddenly nervous about what she was going to do today.

She had texted Piper early that day saying she was going to do it today. Piper had told shel and both of them had cheered and given their word of advice .(“I am rooting for you ,Annabeth.i know you can do it.Go get the boy!” shel had told her this morning. She just blushed and ran out of the place as soon as possible.) She also decided to record it, then if this were to go terribly wrong( which has about a solid 35% chance as annabeth estimated the previous night), she could just point at the camera and say it was all a prank and laugh it off and hence no damage done. Yeah .sounds like an absolutely foolproof plan on paper.

 No .This was such a bad idea.

She is just about to backtrack when the door swings open.

“Annabeth!” he says as he pulls her in for a tight hug. She sighs into his shoulder  hers sagging against his hold and wrapping her arms around him , returning the hug, previous thoughts leaving her mind.he pulls away and looks at her adoringly and the nerves come to her rushing back.

“I have missed you so much,Beth.At Least we get today for ourselves !Come on, I have plans for us today! He bounces on his toe looking entirely too adorable and intertwines their hands and pulls her towards his car before she can even get a word out. 

Her mind is reeling ,oh no, she didn't plan for this. Plan was to hang out in his apartment and kiss him unexpectedly in the safety of his house and declare her love for him if it didn't go well it could buried within the four walls .but now she has to endure public humiliation after rejection.she probably stopped dead in her tracks looking shook because percy turns to look at her concerned.

“Beth? You alright?”

Nonononono-

“Yeah I am good. Are we not hanging out in your home?” she asks him tentatively.

“Oh. I thought we could go out today, you know, ‘cause we always hang out inside. And also I thought we could go for a swim since the weather is good. It's been ages! And yes I grabbed your swimsuits too.do you want to stay inside? we can do that if you want though.” he says earnestly , still looking at her worriedly. She just notices the bag slung over his shoulder.

“No! I am alright! Let's go” she replies hastily with a real enough smile.how could she deny him when he looks like an excited puppy going for a walk,bouncing on his heels. He was also sweet enough to change his plans for her.she doesn't know what she did to deserve this boy, but she thanks every god above. She tugs on his arm when he doesn't move ,pulling him towards the car ,while every part of her asks her to accept his offer.

“Don't slack, seaweed brain. We don't wanna be late to your plans ,do we?” He smiles brightly at her before rushing forward to open her door and Annabeth's heart swoons with adoration for this boy.he does things like this and leaves her wondering if it means anything.but then again ,he was brought up by sally jackson , he probably does it for everyone. 

They spent their car ride catching up,cracking jokes- laughing and singing offkey to songs playing on the radio.( “you sound like a dying sea gull!” “ well i am glad someone finally noticed my talent” and they broke down into giggles all over again).She forgets about the impending task and lets herself get lost with him in their own bubble .He takes her to the book store before going to the pool, and let’s her get the books she asks for.They goof around for a bit and the owner shoots a amused look at them and had told them they looked cute together

( which left Annabeth blushing to her roots, but Percy,ever the charmer, had handled it smoothly, beaming at the old lady and thanking her. He didn't correct her ,she noticed.).He held her hand the whole time back. No wonder everyone thinks they are together.

 Ride to the pool was silent , sometimes either of the humming to the music playing faintly.her nerves were taking over again ,so she distracted herself by turning to look at him,taking him in, memorizing the curves in his face, his sharp jaw cuts and high cheekbones.long eyelashes that almost reached his cheeks,framing his ever alive beautiful sea green eyes.he looked insanely beautiful(probably not a term he would agree with).handsome? yes. But he also looked beautiful  as the sun made his already tan skin glow, his pink lips that looked tempting as ever. She realized too late she was staring at his lips for a little too long. But thankfully he didnt seem to notice.she ducked her head to hide her blush.get a hold of yourself annabeth,she chided herself

Percy has been her best friend ever since she could remember. She has known him even before she knew how to walk or talk.they were just babies when they met each other, and sally had told them enough stories about when they had first met when sally and her dad were strolling through the park and had bumped into each other and later realized they were highschool friends. That day their baby self didn't want to part ways .According to Sally they both had giggled and pinched each other's cheeks and played the whole time while the parents caught up and were absolutely heartbroken even at the idea of leaving(It was also apparently the most adorable thing sally has ever seen till date and has a picture of them hugging from that day.even annabeth wonders till date how two 8 month olds could hug from their carriers?! But proof was case in point). Sighing both parents had exchanged numbers to set them on playdates and assured several times they would see each other again. Ever since ,they have been the ultimate duo. From kindergarten to bossing around in elementary school to the awkward middle school phase . Now after almost seventeen years of knowing him ,he was probably the best person she has ever met. He loved and cared like second nature ,and was fiercely loyal to anyone .Why must he be so perfect? But he is not.she knows his flaws ,just like he does hers.

She was brought out of her reverie as Percy opened her door and held it open for her to slide out.He pulls her inside excitedly and she laughs at his childlike excitement. After they went inside they parted ways to change into their respective clothes ,and Annabeth was left alone with her thoughts.

The pool was percy’s uncles private pool, so they had their own privacy.She didn't know why,but she felt this was the place.it was now or never, even though she could do it later when they reach home that night, but she suspects she would fall asleep in matter of time and she is not able to wait anymore, just wanting to get over with it already..Her breathing picks up as she takes her phone out of her bag and makes a makeshift stand to hold her phone. She hides the phone by setting her backpack in front of it,so it's not obvious.Percy usually takes a shower before stepping in the pool so she gets a solid 10 mins.She calms her breathing and prays to all gods above this would work out. She hits record and goes to change into her own .

 When she came back Percy still wasn't out, so she took her time in getting into the water.it was cold enough for a warm day, not overbearingly so. She was just contemplating jumping when she felt someone’s presence behind her,and realized with a jolt what was about to hit her,but before she could brace herself she was pushed into the pool. She came out sputtering ,hair sticking to her forehead , ready to kill him by just her glare ,but Percy was clutching his stomach laughing at her .He jumped in after her and tried to get to her ,but she kept moving away from his reach, biting back a smile.

“Oh c'mon beth, I am sorry ,but it's not my fault you fall for it everytime” he gave her a lopsided grin that she loves .She pretended giving in, moving towards him innocently,but percy knew her well so he narrowed his eyes at her ,just like he predicted she brought her hands from back splashing his face with water. But since it was expected he swam away,which left her splashing the air. 

“Oh, it’s on, bethy” her stomach fluttered at her childhood nickname but she pushed it down. They splashed each other for a while, Percy almost choking on the water as it rose up his nose and she slapped the life out of him in the process of getting the water out( “jesus! gentler ,wise girl” “you cannot even take this?!”).

After a while they were huddled together in the corner ,just floating on the water.she had her head on his shoulder soaking in the moment as he leaned against the walls of the pool,his hand holding her up by an arm around her shoulder.

“Hey, you have been quiet today. Anything bothering you?” he asks ,tapping her temple.

She is quiet for a while,her heart beating so fast she is sure he could hear it without even being in contact with her.Her skin burns at the places they tough,and it takes everything in her not to stare at his torso. Everything in the air feels different today, a weight on her shoulder,waiting to be lifted .

“Nothing,” her her head still leaned on him,staring into space,”I am just happy to be here.with you”.she lifts her head to look at him and finds him already looking at her.Her heart threatens to leap out of her throat.he is already looking at her, like she hung the moon,his eyes shone with something akin to love. His gaze fell on her lips and she couldn't help staring right back at his. Something was pulling them together, like they were each other's gravity. In a daze ,she noted, he leaned forward and brushed his lips on hers, electricity coursed through her body.The love she had for him felt like an electric jolt induced to her body.

Not able to keep it anymore,she rushed forward and pressed her lips to his .He didn't hesitate to reciprocate the kiss. And she was finally kissing kissing kissing- her best friend.his lips were soft against hers and moved with sync as if they had already practiced it. Her lungs were burning up from the lack of oxygen but she couldn't bring herself to pull back.she poured every emotion she had in that kiss.

He pulled back and rested his forehead against hers.she didn't open her eyes yet ,but there was a smile gracing her lips.

“Hey” Percy nudged his nose against hers.she only hummed in response.

“Can you look at me ,please?” He pressed a kiss to her nose and one to each of her eyelids to get her to open her eyes.her eyes fluttered open to be met with his own green eyes.

“I kind of like you” his breath was hot on her lips but she managed to keep herself from kissing him senseless.

“You do?” she asked, biting her lips.

“Mhmmm” he only hummed, pressing a kiss to her cheeks.

“Well,that's good ‘cause I kinda like you too.”

“Well I'd hope so,or else the kissing part would have been a little awkward,don't you think?” he replies with a lopsided smile to which she can't help pressing her own.Annabeth feels on cloud nine from all the adrenaline and she never wants the feeling to go away.

Later that night,they are curled up on his apartment couch watching a random moving running in the background.(Sally had almost cried when she saw them holding hands when they got back and yelled “dear lords, finally!” to which Percy shot her a scandalous look.) that's when she realized she forgot something.she almost smacked her forehead in realization. 

She removed herself from him to pick her bag,he looked at her confused.Realisation once again dawned on her that she had not explained to him yet

“Oh I recorded us making out, it was actually this trend piper told me a week ago, kiss your best friend to see their reaction.” percy's eyes widened before he laughed so hard he fell out the couch.

“What's so funny?”she asked him, her turn to be confused.

“No-i-it's just- oh my god” he barely replies before rolling with laughter again.

“What are laughing at” she crossed her arms at him, now she felt insecure.

“Oh beth,c'mere” he whispered, pulling her into his embrace on the floor where he settled after his fall .She laid next to him on the floor and he pressed a kiss to her curls.

“Jason showed me the same trend about a week ago.Traitors,they all planned this to make us pop” annabeth's jaws dropped.piper -that sneaky little-

“Hey we are together now, that's what matters right? Let's not kill her, let her be.”

She pouted and he leaned forward to kiss her lips ,once twice before pulling her up and leaning against the couch as she curled back to her position she was in earlier. 

“Did you get the video?”he murmured into her hair.

She tried turning on her phone,but then realized it was not turning on-it was dead.oh.then it probably didn't record the video. She felt another wave of disappointment wash through her. She looked up at him pouting once again.He laughed at her antics before kissing her to which she responded eagerly, she felt the same spark and hoped it would never go away.Thanks to the trend.

“It's fine, baby, do you wanna go to sleep for today?”her heart fluttered at the term of endearment.

“But I put a lot of effort on this.I even made a makeshift holder!” he laughed again before moving to kiss her. They kissed for a while before they fell asleep next to each ,legs and hands tangled together,on the small couch.

Later that morning Piper received a screenshot of Percy and Annabeth kissing by the pool with a caption- “ apparently he likes me too ❤”. Piper forwarded it to the group that went wild with the revelation,many replying with variations of “finally!”.
