"it's raining."

the voice comes from beside you, where hyunjin has been sitting for the past couple of hours while you work on your respective assignments, sharing headphones and feeding each other gummy worms and almond pepero's every once in a while, your head softly nodding along to the music from his lo-fi playlist.

when you glance out the window, it's too dark to watch the sky, but you do catch a glimpse of the downpour thanks to the light from the streetlamp below.

you hum in agreement without much enthusiasm, turning to peck his cheek quickly before diverting your attention back to your laptop.

hyunjin huffs out a griping noise, shrugs off his earpod and scooches closer on his chair to rest his head on you. "hey, let's call it a night," he says, nuzzling his face into the junction between your neck and your shoulder, pressing his full lips against you, over the material of his hoodie that you've stolen borrowed.

"are you done with your paper?" you ask.

"no, but it's raining."

your boyfriend loves the rain; there's something so charmingly idyllic about the rain and he's nothing if not a romantic. he loves it even more when he gets to spend the moment with you, with the two of you nicely tucked together in bed or on the couch as you listen to the sound of the shower outside pattering against your window.

you only chuckle, kissing his forehead to appease him for now. "i'm not done with my article," you say. "you go to bed first. i'll be there in a second."

"let's go to bed now," hyunjin whines, drawing out the last word like an overgrown child. two bargaining hands slide around your body until they're clasped together on the other side of your waist. "it's the perfect time to cuddle."

"fifteen minutes and i'll be done. i just need to finish the nut graph and i'll be right there, okay?"

"nut graph," he echoes, giggling to himself as if it's the first time he's ever heard of the term. then he clears his throat, like he suddenly remembers that there's something much larger at stake here. "that's not a second. what if it stops raining?"

"then it stops raining." you shrug, reaching for a pepero stick to munch on while you keep your gaze on the laptop screen again. "it won't kill you, y'know."

"you don't know that." another pathetic mewl escapes his mouth. "come onnn, i need my cuddles."

"well, we're kind of cuddling right now."

though if you're being honest, your train of thought kind of kicked you off and left the station the second hyunjin started slotting himself against your side. you're just doing this for kicks, because sometimes it's entertaining to tease your boyfriend and watch him be dramatic for a minute. it's endearing, how he whines about not being able to snuggle with you like it's the worst thing that could ever happen to him. it's a bit of an ego boost as well, to know that this godlike man would turn into a puddle every time he's needy for your attention.

"this is not cuddling," he says, his arms tightening around you and for a second there, you wonder if he would actually carry you over his shoulder like a potato sack and take you to the bedroom himself. "come on, let's go to bed. this is your tax."

"this is my what?"

"your tax," he repeats, pinching the material of your (his) hoodie between two fingers. "for wearing my clothes. pay up."

rolling your eyes in playful disbelief, you open your mouth to shoot back a retort but you're promptly cut off after the first syllable makes it out when hyunjin does exactly what you were picturing a minute ago - he fucking picks you up and throws you over his shoulder, in true potato sack fashion, while you squeal in shock.

"hyunjin! the nut graph!"

he only pats your butt in response to your helpless wiggling. "it'll still be there tomorrow."

his long strides carry you to the adjoining room in no time. before you know it, you're already gently laid on the bed while hyunjin settles on top of you, his arms encircling your frame as he throws one of his legs over both of yours. he sighs, clearly content with himself, the soft puff of air escaping his lips to tickle the skin of your neck.

you have no choice but to concede; you're already here anyway. you turn in his hold until you're hugging him back comfortably, carding your fingers through his soft hair to keep his head close to you.

"needy little monster," you complain, no bite.

hyunjin doesn't care about witty comebacks. he won, he got what he wanted. so he just pushes himself up the bed, crossing the few inches it takes to reach your lips. "love you," he giggles, showcasing a grin that makes his eyes turn into adorable crescent moons before he's kissing you tenderly. oh, so delicately.

outside your window, the rain only falls harder.

“Hey? You listening?”

You snap back from your trance to look at Joshua. “Huh?” For a second, you rack your brain trying to remember your previous conversation.

“Right… Well, I’m gonna go. You seem… occupied.”

He starts to stand, bringing his box of pepero with him. You were quick to grab his arm. “No no no! I’m sorry! I’ll listen this time~” you whine.

Joshua looks over to the couch where Jeonghan and Dokyeom were talking. He knew exactly why you were distracted. “You get one more chance.” He says sitting back down.

“Yay~ Here…I’ll even sit this way.” You say, moving the dining chair so it was facing away from the living room and now in your friend’s direction. Joshua laughs and nods, starting his story over.

As he talks to you, he notices Jeonghan glance in your direction a few times. He assumes that Jeonghan was wondering why you moved your seat.

Joshua knows all, being a close friend of both you and Jeonghan. He knows that you both have feelings for each other, but he doesn’t plan on telling the other party. It would ruin his entertainment. He loves to tease you about it, but he especially loves that he gets to mess with Jeonghan.

“Wanna play a game?” He suddenly brings up.

You blink at him a couple times. “Where did this come up all of a sudden?”

Joshua shrugs pulling out a stick of pepero, a sly smirk on his face. “Pepero game. I’ll buy you ice cream if you get at least a centimetre.” You scrunch your nose in distaste. “Gross.”

“You won’t do it?” He teases fiddling with the pretzel in his hand. “No I’ll do it, I want ice cream.” You cave. Joshua then places the one end in his mouth and gestures for you to do the same.

You sigh and take the other end. Joshua glances to see Jeonghan staring daggers at him. The game begins and you start inching closer. You retract your lips more as he draws near.

Joshua chuckles as he sees Jeonghan move in his peripheral vision, getting up from the couch and walking in your direction, leaving Dokyeom to watch TV by himself. Joshua fakes a cough, purposefully breaking the pepero.

“Josh? Need some water?” You ask with the pretzel still between your teeth. “No, I’m good. You won’t be getting your ice cream though.”

“Heyyy no fair! It was your fault it broke. That’s cheap!” You bit off your end, letting the piece fall in your hand. There’s at least three centimetres left.

“Rematch?” Joshua asks fishing out another stick. “Yeah! No cheating this time! I want two ice creams for this.” You bargain taking it from him and placing it in your mouth.

“Ok deal, but since I suck so badly at this game.” He pauses. “We should have someone play in my place.” You see him look behind you. “Jeonghan, did you want to play?” Your heart sinks in your chest. “I saw you walk over while we were playing so I just thought…you know.” Joshua shrugs at him.

You start to get tense, not expecting him to be so close. Jeonghan’s eyes widen as he realizes the situation he stepped into. It was a trap and he wasn’t impressed, but Jeonghan hates to lose.

“Yeah I’ll play. Do I get ice cream too?” He takes the seat behind you. Your palms are sweating hardcore. You subtly try to wipe them on your pants. “Of course.” Joshua says with a smile.

As your friend, he does feel bad for putting you in this position, but he was planning to get you ice cream regardless. You will thank him later, he predicts. “Ok, so one centimetre, whenever you guys are ready.”

You turn to Jeonghan with the pepero in your mouth. Trying your best to look him in the eye, you give him an apologetic smile. As always, his looks start to give you butterflies.

Jeonghan smiles back at you before taking the other end. You start to move in first, wanting to get it over with. Your body was burning at this point, wanting nothing more than to run far away.

Back in the living room, Dokyeom has his phone out recording the whole thing, biting his fist to try and muffle his excitement. As you get closer, your hair starts to fall in front of your eyes, so you pause.

Jeonghan notices and carefully sweeps your hair back and tucks it behind your ears. You both make eye contact for what feels like forever. Jeonghan starts to move in, taking a few nibbles.

You were so close, you start to feel his breath on your mouth. Jeonghan looks down at your lips then back up to your eyes. Both of you in your own world, no one notices Seungcheol sneak up behind Jeonghan giving him a push forward.

The shock causes you both to bite down. Jeonghan’s lips crash onto yours momentarily. You were quick to pull away and cover your mouth, your face likely now red from embarrassment. Jeonghan quickly stands up to chase after the oldest.

You notice the piece fell on your lap. Picking it up, you place it on the table in front of Joshua. “Here. That’s definitely less than one..” Joshua was not expecting that, and he feels a little bad seeing how quiet you got. He pats your head and gives you his card.

“I’m so sorry. I didn’t hurt you did I?” Jeonghan comes back and quickly scans your face. His hands come up, but he quickly rethinks touching you so comfortably. You shake your head at him. “My mouth hurts a little but I’m okay…Look, we get ice cream now.” You wave the card at him.

“Oh, we’re getting more than just ice cream.” Jeonghan glares at Joshua before taking your hand and leading you out the dorm. You grin at your interlocked hands, feeling less stress.

Jeonghan holds the car door open and gestures you inside. You fiddle with your phone as you wait for him to settle in his seat. You watch as he adjusts his mirrors and can’t help crush on him a little more.

You get startled by the tap on your window. It’s Seungcheol. Jeonghan narrows his eyes at him, but decides to roll your window down.

“I’m really sorry about a while ago. I hope I didn’t hurt you.” You keep your face neutral at his apology before tugging his beanie down to cover his eyes. “You suck Seungcheolie! But I forgive you.”

He shows you his gummy smile before looking at Jeonghan. “I want her back before 10pm.” Jeonghan laughs before rolling the window back up.

At the cafe, you were perfectly content snacking on your cold treat. You notice Jeonghan steal glances everytime you take a bite.

After taking another scoop, you try your best not to shake as you bring the spoon up to him. He blinks at you for a few seconds.

“If you don’t eat it, it’ll melt.”

He lets you feed him before sitting back in his chair, a pink tinge now on the tip of his ears. He lets out a cough before asking. “Want a bite of mine?”

You laugh as you scan the variety of desserts in front of him. Joshua was not going to be impressed when he sees the bill. “I’ll try that one?” You point to one of the cakes.

As you were about use your spoon, Jeonghan beats you to it holding out a portion to feed to you. “Thank you…”

“Good?” He asks watching your face for a reaction. You smile giving a nod. Scanning over his other desserts, you start to laugh a bit at how excessive it was. “Do you have a favourite one?”

There was a devious smirk on his lips as he contemplated on answering.

“Probably that pepero from earlier.”

I didn't plan to draw my self-ships for 11/11 yesterday but— here are some headcanons of Itoshi Rin, Tsukishima Kei, and Yeon Hajun if they were to do Pocky/Pepero Day

Rin: this isn't typically his tradition to do pocky day with you, however the jaded emo player is curious of how people do on Pocky Day (mainly his head revolves around soccer so). You eventually pick a pocky for him which is matcha for you guys to share. Simply, Rin is rather fine with the treat, hopeless enough you can't drag Rin to do the pocky game with you or else he'll be taken a back!

Tsukki: definitely, oh yes, this salty blonde wouldn't go down about the pocky game though. But, he usually buys his favorite, you guessed it "strawberry" pocky. This man's obsession with his favorite fruit can make you linger into second thoughts. Tsukki was the one who wanted to try this pocky game with you, until the moment it gets too sweeter. Lucky enough for him it's a winning tease to give you a kiss over such a treat. But in hindsight, he rarely does this to you as it's too common to do a pocky challenge. He prefer to share a stick or two with you.

Hajun: do I even need to make a good scenario for this Korean rapper? Hell, this oppa even though Pepero Day is always celebrated by couples in South Korea. Hajun can tell by how many monthly holidays does couples celebrate this. Much to say, he isn't interested. Pepero Day is just a normal thing, he even compares how similar pepero is to pocky day. Despite living in a different country and adjusting to the cultures in Japan — if he were to celebrate pepero day with you Hajun takes his efforts on another level. No cheesy pepero game for him, he will give you your fave pepero box in a heart shape instead for you to eat with a small note on. Probably, he will eventually share some peperos with you, but no pepero game. It's just not for him.

During Pepero Day, Nergella would buy one of each box of Pepero Coolie sticks for herself and few for her cousins. Each box have a member of the PPGs on the front, at the Korean Convenience Store because it is now avaliable in America in this verse. Nergella would give a Original Pepero Cookie Sticks to Destiny and for Bea either Blossom box or Buttercup box. Nergella would buy another pack of Almond Pepero Cookie Sticks to gives to Reynash because his mom is on the package.
