On The House || Pepades

It wasn’t every day your secretary defeated a stage four demon, was it, eh? 

No! Not at all. And really, it turned out that the mayor’s office was actually quite boring most of the time-- nothing but meetings and phone calls and attending things. Hades liked this enough considering it used very little brain power that he could save up for more pressing matters, such as... the Order. Or the bloody demon in the woods.

But it was nice to mix up his routine now with an outing to Remy’s. After all, Pepa Madrigal deserved it. 

“It’s on Town Hall, so please, order whatever you’d like!” Hades said as they arrived and got seated. “It’s the least we can do.”

The Sun Will Come Out  || Pepades

“Clear skies, clear skies.” 

Pepa muttered the mantra to herself as she walked up the steps of Town Hall. She had not been back in the old building since she was employed as a receptionist, too embarrassed to face any of the janitorial staff who’d had to clean up the flood that sloshed through the hallways after she’d finished reading Atonement. She smiled sweetly at the new receptionist, hoping that the person had no idea who she was in relation to the inner machinations of Town Hall.

Pepa was here for a fresh start! It had been about a year since she’d last held down a job — Felix encouraged her to take a bit of a break, because getting her hopes up in the job search, only to mess up on the first few weeks was really affecting her mood. It was dark clouds and literal cold shoulders for days when she got those rejections. 

But it had been a year and Pepa had downloaded mindfulness apps and started doing yoga with Isa, and she was ready.

“Hola! I am here for the interview for the personal assistant job!” she said, knocking on the door of the Mayor’s office, as she clutched the folder with her resume. “Am I too early? I can wait outside, yes?”
