Los Hombres de Paco, sometimes I just go around the Internet trying to see if someone out there still remembers it/is talking about it only to realise that it only finished in like 2021 and I was just too gay that I abandoned it when my gays ended (read: they killed Silvia after her and Pepa got married sigh)
Pepa and Silvia gave my 10 or 11 yro brain a lot of good things to think about lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay Tumblr, tell me about the weird TV show that you discovered at just the right age that you imprinted on it entirely but doesn't get talked about very much
Bonus points if you binge watched it in a fugue state in the dead of night so that you sometimes wonder if you dreamed it, if you caught only part of it or watched it out of order, if it was weirdly horny, or if it was made in Canada.
Mine, which meets about half those bonus criteria, was HEX. I watched it on the SciFi Channel (I think) in the mid-2000s, I have described it as "Rosemary's Baby plus Smallville plus English boarding school," the full synopsis would take SO MANY content warnings, it's the first place I learned the word "nephilim"...
But literally none of that matters because the only thing I imprinted on is my beloved Thelma the Lesbian Ghost
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She's a lesbian, she's a ghost, she was the only reason I watched the show, I WISHED I had her outfits, that's it, that's the whole post.
What was the equivalent of Thelma the Lesbian Ghost in your own teenagerhood?

Hugo *falls through ceiling*
Giovanni, not even phased: Hi Hugo.
Hugo, laying on a pile of rubble—his head resting on the floor, completely: Hi Giovanni.
------------------------------------------------------------
Hugo, quieter: That hurt.
Cesare: Hey I'm back from the market—WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!
Cyriacus, standing in the center of a strangely neat pentagram drawn on Casita's floors and holding a melting candle in one hand, and a book in another: You told me to satanize the house!
Cesare: Sanitize! I said sanitize! Clean this up before Abuela and the padre get here!
------------------------------------------------------------
Princesa: You can trust me! Let's not forget who pulled you out of that river when you were 12!
Fuega: Let's not forget who pushed me in.
------------------------------------------------------------
Miguel Jr *jumps from the second balcony of Casita in a bubble shield, bounces, and breaks something*
Arlo, on his last fucking straw: THIS IS WHY MOM DOESN'T FUCKING LOVE YOU!
Camilo *laughs loudly off screen*
------------------------------------------------------------
Arlo: Here’s a fun Christmas idea. We hang mistletoe, but instead of kissing, you have to FIGHT whoever else is under it.
Zoey: Arlo no.
Miguel Jr: Mistlefoe.
Zoey: Please stop encouraging him.
------------------------------------------------------------
Arlo: I trust Zoey.
Miguel Jr: You think they know what they're doing?
Arlo: I wouldn't go that far.
------------------------------------------------------------
Arlo: Oscar! My face is on fire!
Oscar: Arlo! Are you ok?!
Arlo: Oh yes, I'm fine. I just said that to make sure you'd come in here quickly.
Oscar: But your face is on fire.
Arlo: Yes. It's much faster than shaving.
------------------------------------------------------------
Oscar: Please, I'm begging you, go to a doctor.
Arlo: I'm sorry is this OUR stab wound? Stay out of it.
------------------------------------------------------------
Arlo: Listen, I can explain…
Zoey: You’re making $500 and you’re only gonna pay me $100?
------------------------------------------------------------
Miguel Jr: You’re getting 100 dollars? I’m getting $20!
Avila: You guys are getting paid?
Marcelo: Ma'am, this is a Wendy’s.
------------------------------------------------------------
Someone random: Wow, are you guys twins?
Marisol *stares at Mariana*
Mariana *stares back*
Marisol and Mariana *scream  in sync* YOU STOLE MY FACE!  *runs away in opposite directions*
------------------------------------------------------------
Hugo: Marcelo, how are those chicken strips?
Marcelo, looking at Hugo's blackened chicken strips: F%#K YA CHICKEN STRIPS.....F%#K ya chicken strips!
------------------------------------------------------------
Rick: You fight like my sister!
José, being a smart ass: I've fought your sister, that's a compliment!
------------------------------------------------------------
Princesa: There is no better feeling than someone playing with your hair. Or running her fingers down your back—
Leta: Unless you thought you were alone.
Oscar: And now, the weather.
------------------------------------------------------------
Renata: Get a real job! And some pants!
Marcelo, who was just walking past: annnnd that's enough of this game.
Vera, grumbling: I am wearing pants. You just have a stupid power.
------------------------------------------------------------
Five year old Sofia *running around during the family barbecue, something shiny in her hands*
Camilo, drink in hand: what you got there, Sof?
Five year old Sofia *smilingly widely* A KNIFE! *runs off*
Camilo *spits out his drink, drops it, and rubs after her* NO!
------------------------------------------------------------
Tito, 15 years old: Yo, how much money do you have?
Amada, 5 years old: 69 cents.
Tito: AYE, you know what that means?
Amada, sad: I don't have enough money for chicken nuggets.
------------------------------------------------------------
Miguel Jr: Hurricane Katrina? More like Hurricane Tortilla *throws tortilla into Marcelo’s face on accident*
Marcelo, as the tortilla slides slowly down his face: I hate you.
------------------------------------------------------------
Claudine: AHH! Stahhp. I coulda dropped mah croissant.
------------------------------------------------------------
Mason: Mothertrucker, dude, that hurt like a buttcheek on a stick.
------------------------------------------------------------
Cesare: Glendale, can you read number 23 for the class?
Glenn: No, I cannot.... What up? I'm Glenn, I'm 19 and I never fucking learned how to read.
------------------------------------------------------------
Fuega, trying to come out to Ligera: Hey, I'm lesbian.
Ligera, having stayed up all night making shadow puppets with her friends: I thought you were Colombian.
------------------------------------------------------------
Juan: WHAT ARE THOSEEEEE?
Javier: THEY are my crocs!
------------------------------------------------------------
Belinda:  In my defense, I was left unsupervised.
Elmira: Wasn't Silvia with you?
Silvia: In my defense, I was also left unsupervised.
------------------------------------------------------------
Rachel, not in the least bit sorry: I think we're gonna have to kill this guy, Cornel.
Cornel, soberly: Damn.
------------------------------------------------------------
Emilia: You have to apologize to the town!
Oscar: Fine. 'Unfuck you' or whatever.
------------------------------------------------------------
Carlos: WHOEVER THREW THAT PAPER, YOUR MOM'S A HOE!
------------------------------------------------------------
Amelia, shoots up in bed in the middle of the night: Oh my god, they were roommates.
------------------------------------------------------------
Rory: This Bitch Empty, YEET! *Throws bottle*
------------------------------------------------------------
Gigi: Mason stop...Mason stop...You're gonna get in trouble. Mason.

Get to know me
I was tagged by @optiwashere !
Three ships: forever and always a Queensquad (Mara Sov/Petra Venj/Sjur Eido) truther. Yeah I know Sjur is still dead and hasn't canonically met Petra but hey death doesn't seem to stick in Destiny. Ikora/Eris, also from Destiny. And from BG3, Shadowheart/Nocturne — it just writes itself!!
First ever ship: oh lord so idk how much of a thing this was outside of Spain but Pepa and Silvia from Los Hombres de Paco? It was the first time I saw wlw in Spanish TV when I was like... 14? Not older than 15. It was a watershed moment for baby dyke me.
Then Silvia got murdered the day of her wedding with Pepa and... Yeah.
I think it's important to mention that gay marriage just got approved in Spain when that episode was aired.
Last song: Absolutely Absent by Selofan.
Last movie: Fuck, I don't remember the last time I sat down to watch a movie. Probably rewatching A Fistful of Dollars with my dad.
Currently reading: idk if it "counts" but I'm reading a manual for a wargame, A War Transformed. I'm also awaiting the release of Exordia by Seth Dickinson with bated breath.
Currently watching: The Fall of the House of Usher
Currently consuming: vegan pad thai on my lunch break
Currently craving: for an elegant solution to this recurring problem at work to manifest itself before me (and maybe another coffee)
I'm gonna tag @seventhscorpio @xivu-arath @growsgardengrows @mxsovereign and @linka-from-captain-planet if they wanna do it. Or don't.

Luimelia was the Bomb I love their chemistry and the raw emotions that come out of their scenes together, especially the time where Amelia was forcibly committed to a mental institution and when they were broken up but still in love with each other. They can't seem to catch a break, idk if it's typical of telenovas where everyone has to be suffering but it's so stressful to watch it sometimes. I didn't know you were also into them, only knew you through NCISHI. Too bad that fandom was extremely toxic.
Way back when I realized I was gay I loved pepa and silvia of los hombres de paco. And then during the pandemic I started watching a TON of telenovelas featuring wlw! I also started learning Spanish for the first time as a result which gave me such a huge sense of purpose during a challenging time.
But yeah I ADORE luimelia. I think they're both so funny and I love how neither of them can hide their passion and love for each other. Lots of courage, lots of sass, lots of love between them. Have you seen #Luimelia? It's a modern spinoff focusing on their characters. It has two seasons--definitely thought the first season was the best, but in general it's a really creative, thoughtful show. It's on atres player premium with english subs afaik.
Also, I really wasn't an active participant in fandom until kacy got me talking with lots of awesome people. But I have lurked and been in fandom spaces for over a decade at this point. My point being, I didn't really engage with luimelia fans beyond just looking at gifsets and reading comments on youtube videos...sucks that it ended up being toxic tho!

For this installment, Waldemar gets a new “origin” to his cursed lycanthropy. We follow him to Tibet in search of the mysterious and elusive Yeti; instead, he finds a string of monsters and madmen to best before finally facing the Yeti himself: two cannibalistic cavewomen, the villainous Sekkar Khan, and his ruthless bandits. Blood, nudity, and the Wolfman – what else do you need? Maybe, more Yeti? Join the crew as they revisit this misbegotten and misunderstood Naschy gem.
At the time of this writing, The Werewolf and the Yeti is available to stream under one of its titles on Tubi, Plex, and Shout! Factory TV. It is also available on Blu-ray from Scream! Factory as part of The Paul Naschy Collection II. how did Casita expand itself ?
Tumblr media
Ooo!
I’ve been dying to talk about this.
So first, I wasn’t sure how to go about Casita expanding. I mean from everything I’ve read regarding the future of Casita in fics most people just have it continue on like it did when Pepa and Julieta had kids. But I wasn’t exactly sure how I would phrase that/go about it.
I mean there are six grandkids and sure, in other aus and maybe even in canon if things were to go on, not all of them might want kids. But what about the ones that want kids, if any? What if more than two of them did? How would the house stretch on to continue that? How could they all fit into one floor?
Then I got to thinking further than that—got to wondering—how practical that scenario would actually be?
Would Casita just keep expanding that floor, even if it got so long that the residents got disgruntled?
So I spoke to my friend, @igetthedisneybox, about it and they suggested a possibility that I quite liked: each time one of the grandkids has a child with their partner (or in some cases, like Antonio’s, adopts a child) they are moved to their own floor.
I like to think that this is because Casita threw in the towel on expanding the 2nd floor any further after Félix’s brother, Gabriel, returned to the Encanto with the remaining members of Pedro and Alma’s pre-encanto families—Raimi (Alma’s younger brother), his daughters (Beatriz and Miranda), Rosa (Pedro’s mother), Benito (Pedro’s brother), and Faustina (Pedro’s adoptive niece)—in tow. At that point Isabela had met Bubo and Luisa had met Ryder, Dolores was dating Mariano, Camilo was starting to have the free time to date, Antonio was allowing his animals to roam around the house, and Casita has set Mirabel and Miguel up as magical penpals. Anyone with eyes could see the possible futures that were being laid out.
So the house, upon receiving six new residents in just one day, just went ‘nope’ and decided that when the first great grand kid was born a new floor would be added for that section of the family.
And it did.
------------------------------------------------------------
The first floor holds the kitchen, the bathroom, the dining room, the courtyard, Alejandra’s statue, the cleaning/storage closet, the laundry room, Bruno’s in-between the walls’ room, the guest room, and the main family room.
The second floor holds the rooms of Rosa, Alma, Benito, Raimi, Faustina, Beatriz, Miranda (and later on, Gabriel when they marry), Pepa, Julieta, Agustín, Félix, the new nursery, and the stairs to Bruno’s room—as well as the rooms of Bruno’s ten adoptive children, but we’ll get into that later. As well as all of their pets.
The third floor holds Isabela, Bubo, their private family room, and their four children—Arlo, Zoey, Miguel Jr, and Avila—as well as Isabela’s potato people and the children’s pets.
The fourth floor holds Dolores, Mariano, their private family room, and six of their eight children— Princesa, Elmira, Oscar, Fuega, Ligera, and Leta—as well as their pets and Dolores’ balcony. It will later hold Juan and Javier too when they get their own doors.
The fifth floor holds Luisa, Ryder, their private family room, and their five children—Tito, Emilia, Belinda, Silvia, and Amada—and their pets.
The sixth floor holds Camilo, Mina, and their five children—Amelia, Sofia, Carlos, Hugo, and José—as well as their pets and private family room.
The seventh floor holds Mirabel, Miguel, their private family room, and their five children—Marisol, Mariana, Marcelo, Vera, and Renata as well as their pets.
The eighth floor holds Antonio, Dayana, their pets, and their family room. It will later hold Giovanni as well when he gets his door.
The ninth and final floor includes the attic, an additional door to Bruno’s tower with his family room attached, and the partner’s room—which is kind of a man cave but gender neutral: I just thought that those who married into the family should have their own space since they don’t get their own rooms or gifts. It’s just a place for them to lay low, cool their heads, and shoot the shit because they deserve it.
------------------------------------------------------------
The floor layouts:
1st Floor: Across from the main entrance and past the courtyard is the area that holds the kitchen, the dining room, and Bruno’s in-between the walls’ room.
Halfway to the kitchen on the left is the closet/storage area that holds the cleaning supplies and that week’s chore list. Across from the closet is the door to the bathroom.
The room on the left of the closet is the laundry room.
Across from that door is the guest room and beside that door is the main family room.
In the center of the courtyard is Alejandra’s statue.
By the stairs past the kitchen is Alma's study.
2nd Floor: On the left side lies the rooms of Rosa, Alma, Benito, and Raimi.
Alejandra’s statue in the courtyard lines up with Raimi’s window so he can look at her.
Alma’s room is the second closest to Pedro’s portrait—second only to Rosa, Pedro’s mother.
On the right side lays the rooms of Beatriz, Miranda and Gabriel, Julieta and Agustín, Pepa and Félix, the stairs to Bruno (we’ll be right back to that), Faustina, and then at the end of the hall right next to the stairs that lead to the third floor is the nursery.
Back to the stairs that lead to Bruno’s room! Alongside the stairs are platforms that rest the doors of each of Bruno’s children.
On the left wall rests the rooms of Rory, Mason, Claudine, Cyracius, and Cesare starting with Rory at the base leading up to Cesare. On the right wall rests Gigi, Glenn, Rachel, Rick, and Cornel starting with Gigi at the base leading up to Cornel. Bruno’s room rests in between Cesare’s and Cornel’s.
3rd Floor: On the left there is a single door leading to the family room.
On the right lies the doors of Isabela and Bubo, Marisol, Mariana, Marcelo, Vera, and Renata.
At the end of the hall there are the stairs to the fourth floor, which is across from the stairs that lead to the stairs leading downstairs.
4th Floor: On the left there is a single door leading to the family room.
On the right lies the doors of Dolores and Mariano, Princesa, Elmira, Oscar, Fuega, Ligera, and Leta.
At the end of the hall there are the stairs to the fourth floor, which is across from the stairs that lead to the stairs leading downstairs.
When the twins (Juan and Javier) get their doors, they will eventually be added to the floor.
5th Floor: Across from the stairs leading downstairs are stairs leading to the sixth floor.
On the left wall is a door to Luisa's private family room.
On the right wall lies the doors of Luisa and Ryder, Emilia, Tito, Belinda, Silvia, and Amada.
6th Floor: Across from the stairs leading downstairs are stairs leading to the seventh floor.
On the left wall is a door to Camilo's private family room.
On the right wall lies the doors of Camilo and Mina, Amelia, Sofia, Carlos, Hugo, and José.
7th Floor: Across from the stairs leading downstairs are stairs leading to the eighth floor.
On the left wall is a door to Mirabel's private family room.
On the right wall lies the doors of Mirabel and Miguel (It used to be located where the old nursery used to but Casita moved it after her and Miguel had the triplets), Marisol, Mariana, Marcelo, Vera, and Renata.
8th Floor: On the left wall there is the door to Antonio’s private family room.
On the right there lies the doors of Antonio and Dayana. Giovanni will be added to the floor once he gets his door.
Across from the stairs leading downstairs there is a final set of stairs leading to the ninth floor.
9th Floor: When you step off of the stairs on the ninth floor, there are only two doors at first glance.
A strange green door with little rats with glowing green eyes on it that leads to Bruno's vision tower and his private family room which is on the right—and a door with everyone who married into the family on it that periodically updates whenever someone joins the family.
Camilo's ex-wife, Yanamaria, can still be seen on the door, though her face is scratched out. Casita could have just removed her from the door all together but she's petty.
Across from the stairs is a butterfly window.
And finally, a few feet away from the stairs and a few inches away from the railing to the courtyard on the ceiling is a pull string door to the attic which is basically just another storage space.
------------------------------------------------------------
Notes:
The courtyard space along with the railing can be seen on each floor.
The door of each great grand kid appears on the second floor until their ceremony is over. Once the ceremony ends the room is moved to the right floor.
There are secret passages on every floor— several being short cuts to the bathroom.
Everyone loves guessing how Casita will decide to expand next. Camilo likes joking that it'll start sprouting mini houses.
Each of the family rooms look different—each of them being more suited towards the family their for. Except for the main family room which is big enough to fit everyone and looks like the old one Casita always had. Each door is decorated by the family and looks different than the last.
Each floor has different decorations/pictures. I like to think each floor has at least one family picture on it.
And finally, some of the kids have secret passages in their rooms. Whether it's to the rest of the house like with Marisol, to a secret casino like José, or to their twin’s room (though please remember that this isn't a constant for every triplet/twin. Just Amelia and Sofia & Juan and Javier if I remember correctly).
Thanks for the ask!
