my only take is that i do think the 9-1-1 fandom suffers severely from parasocial attachment but not just in the sense that we’re too invested in the actors that we like but also in the sense that…we should not care so much about tim minear (or many writers/directors/actors that we don’t like). i don’t…think that the vitriol people have for him is anymore normal or healthy or beneficial than, for example, people acting like oliver stark is their best friend and taking every word he says as gospel.

Please let me live in a universe where Disney and Lucasfilm stood by their cast and gave The Acolyte a second season, despite all the hate and backlash from *that crowd* just like Amazon did with The Rings of Power.
Is Disney not embarrassed that Amazon, of all companies, had the courage to stand by its cast members, defend their right to exist in The Rings of Power, and took the risk to renew the show? Both shows and their casts faced similar backlash and hate, but only one company believed in its show and told the racists to fuck off. Now, their show is even more popular and getting great reviews.
The Acolyte would have been an even bigger success in its second season because it was the kind of show gaining popularity through word of mouth. I promise you, all the romance fans would have been fully invested and bought all the merch for season 2. They just needed to give it a chance.

Perfect 10 Liners' Wardrobe Department Deserves a Raise!
Every episode of Perfect 10 Liners, I write that the people behind the scenes deserve raises, but episode fourteen really solidified why because this show has always had wild shirts like Kong's "I'm an excellent driver"
Tumblr media
But look at what shirt Gun is wearing as he tries to convince his friends nothing is wrong even though he is breaking down. It's a smiley face, and I'm pretty sure the text under said "Good."
Tumblr media
And of course Faifa's "Gentleness Shows Strength" shirt was obvious since it is exactly who he is as a character as he is always gentle with Gun and his strength when dealing with Yotha.
Tumblr media
But while Newton was talking to Yotha about Yotha being the bravest of the brothers to attempt love and not being selfish with Gun, Yotha's shirt said "Treat Yourself Well" over his heart.
Tumblr media
And at the same time, Gun was making future plans with his mom to meet Yotha as his shirt warned him to "Focus on Staying in the Moment"
Tumblr media
In past episodes, the shirts have also told us what about the boys, like when Gun fell asleep at the table in his "RELAX" shirt but woke up to Yotha sitting with him which prompted Yotha to share his feelings with Gun in his "HUMAN" shirt.
Tumblr media
And like Yotha's shirt telling him to "See the Future" as he looked at Gun.
Tumblr media
Or Gun's shirt stating that he is "Happy Every Day"
Tumblr media
But this episode's shirts continued to narrate Gun's declining mood as he tried to put on a fake smile, like this one said "you're going to be okay" after Yotha refused to eat with Gun.
Tumblr media
And finally, when Gun ran to the bathroom to cry when Yotha said he wasn't sure if he loved him, Gun's shirt said "MOOOOD"
Tumblr media
So dearest wardrobe department, I see you out here giving the characters the shirts that go along with their stories and tell us there emotions and thoughts.
Tumblr media
Like Arm's "Always Forward, No Turning Back" shirt when Arc asked him if they could have sex, and he responded by kissing him back.
Tumblr media
I SEE YOU and I hope you spent your paycheck on the nicest things, that your cardigans never snag, that your glasses never smug, and I pray that you know you are doing your job so damn well.
Don't settle for a pizza party. You deserve a raise.

Crying because Disney+/Hulu did The Artful Dodger so dirty by not marketing it properly and it could and should be getting the same amount of praise and love as Bridgerton or My Lady Jane, but instead they were stupid and most people don’t even realize it exists.

Favourite thing about tumblr is that it’s our space. I really enjoy Bluesky but there’s always this little voice in the back of my head going ā€œbut what if David Jenkins sees this? What if Rhys Darby sees this?ā€ And it’s nice to have somewhere to retire to where they can’t see me 😌

Charlie Vickers being proud of that one interviewer for pronouncing Morfydd Clark’s name right was so cute. We love a supportive bestie who always gets his friend’s hard-to-pronounce name right and encourages others to do it.

I can't read Janeway/Chakotay if Tuvok isn't there with the same energy of a passenger in the backseat putting his foot on Chakotay's chair and slowly increasing the pressure so Janeway doesn't notice but Chakotay does. Bc. He should have been in the front seat. And Janeway's the one who asked "Do you mind getting in the back, Mr. Tuvok?" and he said it was fine, absolutely fine, and she thought nothing more of it but everytime Chakotay glances in the rearview mirror he can see that man's eyes staring back at him. I know people cast Tuvok as the wingman in Janeway & Chakotay's tragic love story but I think it'd be way funnier and perhaps even MORE tragic if anytime Janeway tried to softlaunch the idea of Chakotay as a romantic interest Tuvok conveniently had a memory about her and Mark Johnson to share. Do You Remember when we all went to the Recreation of The Ancient Olive Garden, Captain? And you said you two were Mates of Each Other's Soul? That just occurred to me for some reason. Anyway, what were you saying about Chakotay? After Mark Johnson is out of the picture for good, Tom teases that Janeway & Chakotay would make a good couple and Tuvok, serious as a heart attack and with a dire warning in his eyes/tone (insulting the captain is a grave offense) says that the captain would Never do something like that. She is a woman of morals. She is a woman who holds herself to a high standard. She would Never. And Tom never brings it up again and Janeway is both touched by Tuvok's belief in her and...something else. Something that feels like being doomed. Tuvok doesn't even dislike Chakotay at this point, it's not about him at all - it's All about Janeway. Like, personally I don't think Tuvok would be that personally invested in Janeway's romantic life one way or another (they seem to me like they'd be uncomfortable talking in depth about that kind of thing) but if he's going to be invested wouldn't it be so funny, so intriguing, for him, as the only member of Voyager who has pre-existing history with Janeway, to represent the Past. The things Janeway wants to return to, what she fights to keep alive - and this is shown to us the audience through Tuvok reinforcing and nurturing her belief that she should NOT become romantically involved with her first officer? Janeway has standards for herself...and Tuvok will Ensure she lives up to them. Because he believes in her ability to do so. They are 'in this together', are they not? They will assist one other, will they not? Like always.

Fight for The Winchesters
After news of cancellation, the cast and executive producers of The Winchesters gathered on social media to fuel the already burning fire that's been lit beneath the SPN Family. Samantha Highfill of Entertainment Weekly spoke with the leads and co-captain of this ship to offer what valuable lessons they mined from their time on the show.
Check out the article below, keep tagging #SaveTheWinchesters across all platforms, and never stop fighing.
Excerpts from The Winchesters interview:
Yes, [The Winchesters’] potentialĀ isĀ massive, even after theĀ show's cancellation by The CW, because [Jensen Ackles] and the cast have already launched a #SaveTheWinchesters campaign to find the story a new home. "There's a lot of story to tell here and there's a huge fan base that is very actively engaged and willing to support it," he says. ... It's a passion that Ackles saw the instant he tweeted out the news that the show had been canceled. "They are fired up," he says of the fans. "I love that about this fandom. I love that they are so passionate about this world and this universe and these characters that they are willing to go to the mat for a show like this. I think that speaks volumes, especially to those who are willing to listen and have the power to do something about it."
Nida Khurshid "Continuing the legacy of the hugely successful show,Ā Supernatural, has not only been humbling and thrilling but also a way for me to represent my heritage proudly through the character I get to play. Fighting for what you believe in whether it be saving the world from monsters or standing up for your friends, I believe our show can inspire that sense of courage and direction to fight for what's right in a world that needs it."

I’m starting to get kind of frustrated with all the negativity about the newest episodes of tlovm, so I’m throwing my two cents into the pile.
Now, to be entirely fair, this is coming from someone who hadn’t seen all of c1, but I have been loving the new season. Sure there are some things that aren’t perfect, but it hasn’t made my enjoyment any less.
Why is one of the big complaints I keep seeing about one scene outlining a bit of Ripley’s backstory? It’s not meant to make us feel bad for her, it’s to show the parallels between her and Percy. Both lost their family and people to a powerful force, both let vengeance consume them, but in the end they chose to go down separate paths. Percy gave up on his need for vengeance; Ripley chose to let it continue to consume her - Ripley is what Percy could have become.
In a similar vein, Percy showing mercy towards Ripley and trying to give her an opportunity to move past her vengeance is him continuing to move past his. He offers her that opportunity because that’s what Vox Machina did for him and he wants to give her that same opportunity.
Also, the chances of Percy being perma-dead are probably not that high. It’s such a massive change that affects everything else so heavily that I don’t think that’s something they’re going to do. But of course they’re not going to instantly try to resurrect him. Resurrection has been shown to not be as commonplace in this version of the story, and the only time it was attempted the only reason it succeeded is because a deal with the goddess of death was made. It is really unfortunate that it meant that Percy was absent from the Thordak fight, but I understand why it was done that way.
One grievance I do have is that they killed Kash cause I love his character and it surprised the hell out of me when it happened. However, I do also understand from a plot standpoint why it was done. If the only people dying in a huge stakes battle are just nameless soldiers, then it’s just not realistic no matter if shock value is a factor or not (still want them to bring him back, though, even if it don’t think it’s going to happen).
Having Scanlan not be dead-dead so soon after Percy was probably the right choice in my opinion. It would have just be treading on the same plot idea, so they’re obviously changing it and mixing it up like some of the other instances where a character should have died but didn’t.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but you can’t forget that this is a different medium to share the story so changes are going to have to be made - they said that going into the release of the first season years ago. These are decisions that are being made by the people who created these characters and their story, meaning what’s being changed most likely has a purpose.

"Aren't we so funny and original for pointing out our own bad writing (which we're now claiming to be a fully intentional, stylistic choice, I guess) in our finale? Being self-aware means that the thing we're self-aware of is no longer a problem, right? The joke is that our writing isn't stagnant, the characters just don't change."
Did I... understand that right?
Also, if poking fun at the Nandor/Guillermo shippers was the point of the Newhart parody (and kind of half the entire finale?), why were they the only ones given an actual ending? Their ending is also an (intentionally, because they've established that the show's writing is very intellectual) ambiguous (further plot tease?) in both dialogue and narrative.
And as for the rest of the cast, what are we supposed to think of Nadja, Laszlo, and Colin? The plot with the monster and his bride? Nadja Doll? Did Nadja Doll speak at all this season? Not to mention The Guide who for some reason is MAGA? Help? There's no implication of what any of them will do after the finale. Was that the point??

i feel like im not making any sense but does anyone else feel like there are stories that let u run with them and ones that spell everything out for you
#im reading that post that says artists are directors of audience reaction and not its dictator:#'you cannot guarantee that everyone viewing your work will react as you are trying t make them react. a good artist knows that this is what#allows work to breath. by definition you cannot have art where the viewer brings nothing to the table ... this is why you have to let go of#the urge to plainly state in text exactly how you think the work should be interpreted ... its better to be misinterpreted sometimes than#to talk down to your audience. you wont even gain any control that way; people will still develop their opinions no matter what you do#im thinking abt this again cuz i was thinking maybe the thing that lets adventure time work so well the way it does is cuz it doesnt#take itself too seriously that it gives the audience enough room to fuck with subtext and then fuck with them back yknow. i think it was#mentioned somewhere that they werent even planning to run with the postapocalyptic elements that are hinted in the show but changed their#mind after the one off with the frozen businessmen and dominoed into marcy and simons backstory. on the other side there are stories that#explain too much to let the story speak for itself and i think it ends up having to do more with the crew trying to lead ppl in a certain#direction than expand on what they have and i see a lot of this with miraculous. like when interviews and tweets are used as word of god in#arguments and it becomes a little stifling to play around with it knowing the creator can just interject. u can say its the crews effort to#engage with its audience but it feels more like micromanaging. and none of this is to say there ISNT room for stories that spell things out#theyre just suited for different things. if sesame street tried abstract approaches to themes and nuance itd be counterproductive#a lot of things fly over my head so i need help picking things apart to get it- but it doesnt have to be from the story itself. ive picked#picked up or built on my own interpretations listening to other ppl share their thoughts which creates conversation around the same thing#sometimes stories will spell things out for you without being so obvious abt it that it feels like its woven into the text. my fav example#for this might be ATLA using younger characters as its main cast but instead of feeling like its dumbed down for kids to understand why war#is bad its framed from a childs point of view so younger audiences can pick up on it by relating to the characters. maybe an 8 year old#wont get how geopolitics works but at least they get 'hey the world is a little more complicated than everyone vs. fire nation'. same for#steven universe bc its like theyre trying to describe and put feelings into words that kids might not have so they have smth to start with#especially with the metaphors around relationships bc even if it looks unfamiliar as a kid now maybe the hope is for it to be smth you can#look back to. thats why it feels like these shows grew up with me.. instead of saving difficult topics for 'when im ready for it'#as if its preparing me for high school it gave me smth to turn in my hands and revisit again and again as i grow. stories that never#treated u as dumb all along. just someone who could learn and come back to it as many times as u need to. i loved SU for the longest time#but i felt guilty for enjoying it hearing the way ppl bash it. bc i was a kid and thought other ppl understood it better than me and made#feel bad for leaning into the message of paying forward kindness and not questioning why steven didnt punish the diamonds or hold them#accountable. but im rewatching it now and going oh. i still love this show and what it was trying to teach me#yapping#diary
