Commissions Open!
It's been a really rough few months so I was quiet for a bit, but I'm now in a better position to do art, so I'm beginning the process of advertising again.
I'm currently only accepting traditional work, not digital; my primary medium is watercolour, but I can do pencil or pen drawings too, and I'm open to mixed media. I prefer not to draw humanoid characters. If you want the physical item as well as a scan/photo of your commission, we can discuss that during consultation.
I work for £10 (gbp) an hour, with additional £1 charges for backgrounds or additional (more than 2) characters. (some current exchange rates: £10 gbp = $13.04 usd = €11.85 eur)
You can see further details for anything regarding my art commissions on my carrd:
(Or, if you want to do a smaller, low-stakes request on ko-fi, pay what you want and I'll adjust the time spent on it accordingly)
Examples of my work:
Editing to add a note that the above examples range from around 2-6+ hours, with only the pink unicorn, the wyrm and moony (first image) being 8-10+ hours of work. I can't remember how long the moony pencil sketch took exactly but probably only 1-2 hours. How many hours you choose in advance will change my method of painting, such that it's the highest possible quality for the allotted time

"Ronin tattoo artist."
Out of the many cliques you’ll likely meet in jail, tattoo artists are unsurprisingly the most artistically gifted. I sat down with one to discuss his passion for drawing and what inspires them. Dana McAllister has been putting pencil to paper for most of his life, beginning at six. The first drawing he ever did was of a cat he drew as a gift for his grandma. Dana says that her words of encouragement inspired him to continue drawing. His talent followed him through adolescence to his first run-in with the law. As part of his “sentence,” Dana was forced to draw a picture to discourage people from committing theft. Unfortunately, that was the first of many times he would get in trouble, leading to him getting locked up on more than one occasion. Dana says he continued to work on his craft in prison, performing tattoo work on many inmates there. “Tattooing in prison is a pain in the ass as it’s essentially one person covering every aspect of a shop- from doing inventory to managing supplies to designing tattoos to handling business aspects. Dana says it’s a lucrative hobby that helps him escape trouble. Because he doesn’t receive financial assistance from anyone on the outside, drawing things for people keeps him paid, which proves a good use for his talents. What helps is that his fellow inmates trust him completely with his work, which gives him carte bleach, free reign over his work. Among the many tattoos he’s done in prison, gang-related and facial tattoos are his least favorite to draw, he says, because they get people in trouble at work and put their safety at risk. You’d be surprised to learn that Dana has never worked in a tattoo shop before, despite his love for it. Dana says he’s never done it professionally because of money and a lack of appreciation for the shop setting. This article compares him to a Ronin, the masterless samurai free of serviette or bondage. In that regard, Dana has no “master” he operates independently. He admits he doesn’t get along with people, which is necessary in a shop setting. He would prefer to ship over the apprenticeship, which would be another obstacle to walking in a tattoo shop. Dana says that when he gets out of prison, he would like to work in a respectable profession to make his daughter proud. Despite that one regret, he admits that he would’ve made more money working in a shop; he seems to be well off crafting postcard designs for his fellow inmates. It’s a slick and easy way of getting by without receiving help from the outside, turning tricks for trade. As we close out my interview, he offers up these words of advice for aspiring artists: Don’t take art too seriously; there is no wrong art, and do not be afraid to try new mediums.

Terms of service:
General terms of service:
The prices listed above are all in the context of pictures of art. In case you want the physical piece, I need to be notified before starting the commission. The price of shipping will also be added to the final price, after all the add-ons (such as 25% for another character), so it doesn't affect the price of the piece, and only covers the shipping cost.
All drawings may or will include a subtle signature that you may not remove or change.
Prices are subject to change based on factors such as demand.
I have the right to reject any order that I do not feel comfortable drawing for any reason.
“Extra Detail” will be evaluated based on the amount of additional, complext objects, and doesn’t inherently concern the character’s design (unless the design is overtly complex)
“Detailed bg” referrs to a background that portrays a full scene, and/or includes complex patterns.
Unless the piece is of a private person, I am free to post the final drawing to my social media. (I'll still ask you if you mind, but just as a disclaimer)
After the exchange is fully realised, which means I've received the previously agreed upon amount of money and you receive the piece, you are free to use it for whatever purpose you may want (such as putting it up in your home, getting it tattooed, using it in some kind of video, etc) excluding selling the piece (unless the commission is meant for that purpose from the start, in which case there will be appropriate paperwork filed that concerns the specific situation, and how the piece/design may be used), but if you share it, be it privately, or on a public forum, I must still be credited as the original artist. That means being explicitly mentioned by name, and (on platforms that enable it) providing a link to my pages, both in a way that's visible and clear to an outside person.
Payment:
The full amount is to be paid through PayPal.
Commissions can be paid either 100% upfront or split 50% upfront and 50% after sketch approval, depending on what's been privately agreed upon. Pencil-only pieces are to be paid upfront fully.
Don't send me any payment before I have agreed to give you a slot and requested you to send me the payment. I am not responsible for any issues such as loss of money due to currency exchange in a case of a refund, where I am not to blame for the refund.
If for some reason I'm forced to cancel the commission after not fully finishing it, I'm entitled to receive payment for the work I've already done (for example if the piece was meant to be in watercolours, but I've already finished the sketch, I'm entitled to receive the payment for a full sketch)
Upfront payment is non-refundable (once I start the commission) unless I myself cancel the commission.
I am not responsible for your, or PayPal's mistakes in the process of payment. If the mistake is on your side (such as sending the money to the wrong person, despite being provided the correct link), that unfortunately will not count as payment, and I will still need the money to be sent to me. Cases of issues with PayPal will be handled individually.
If after being informed of the price you voluntarily pay a greater amount, that will be seen as a tip (which is greatly appreciated), and will be nonrefundable. That is due to payments having to go through currency exchange, which takes a cut of the money, but any sincere, immediately noticed mistakes will be handled individually.
I always make sure that I know exactly what you want out of the commission, before any payment occurs, just in case we find out that I cannot provide the service you want after all. If you send me money before I explicitly tell you to, it will be seen as a nonrefundable donation by default. Such donation will not equate to me having to do the commission. This disclaimer is of course only meant to protect me just in case, and in most situations I will treat premature payment as normal payment, and proceed with the commission, or try to refund you.
Process:
I will notify you when I have started on your commission and you, therefore, lose the rights to a refund
At any point of the process you can contact me to have a civil discussion about details of the order - I'm human too! Just be nice and understanding and I'm sure we can find a compromise, whatever it is.
While I'm working on your commission I will make reviews with you to make sure I make it just right for you!
The amount of reviews depends on the complexity of the work.
During the reviews, you will see work-in-progress and these images will be of lower quality than the final piece.
The time it takes to finish your commission can vary, from 1 week to 3 months or even more (particularly in bigger pieces) depending on factors such as the complexity of the commissioned piece and the workload in my personal life.
If anything comes up that will slow the progress of the initially estimated delivery time I will let you know asap.
Once the piece is finished you will receive a picture or several of the final piece in the best possible quality I can provide (at the very least not worse than what I post on my social media).
If you want to receive the physical piece I will notify you when I send it and provide pictures. You will also receive good quality images before I ship the piece.
My part of the exchange ends once I send the piece, and I am not responsible for what happens to the piece when in shipment.

The Brothers and Dateables With a Tattoo Artist MC
My own MC was a tattoo artist before she came to the Devildom, so I thought I’d write up some head cannons with a tattoo artist MC.
MC is gender neutral!
Mammon
Nobody can convince me that the “Brothers Under a Pact” squad wouldn't be the first ones to get tattoos from MC, and Mammon would definitely be the first
Definitely likes to brag about it too
Don't remind him that there are countless people in the human realm that you tattooed before him or he will pout
People tend to think that Mammon is cheap and would try to talk you into giving him free or cheap tattoos, but he couldn't stand to be like that towards you especially regarding something that you’re so good at
Our first man works his butt off every time he wants to get some new ink from you
Likes to give you a big ole tip every time
Gets fidgety when he has to sit still for too long so you two have to take breaks often
Prefers small/medium sized tattoos rather than really big ones
One time after he started getting tattoos from you, he was at a modeling gig and they tried to make him cover them up with makeup, he quit and that magazine went bankrupt not too long after...dont fuck with the avatar of greed
Once your shop starts taking off in the Devildom, he and Asmo try to convince you to do a shoot for Majolish(They definitely didn't pull some strings to get Majolish to do a whole segment about you and your business)
Beelzebub
The second brother to get a tattoo from MC
Refuses to get any food related tattoos: he doesn't want to accidentally take a chunk out of himself when he gets blinded by his hunger
This man has a very high pain tolerance and sits like a rock while you're tattooing him and you love him for it
He definitely needs snack breaks during longer sessions though
Has a memorial tattoo for Lillith over his heart that matches with one on Belphie
While making this list I was randomly blessed with the mental image of Beel with abuncha old school American traditional tattoos and you can pry that headcannon from my cold, dead hands
Mammon likes to brag that he has the most tattoos from you, but Beel might give him a run for his money, he doesn't mind Mammon’s bragging most of the time though, so he just lets him believe whatever he wants this time
Simeon
But Simeon has never been all that great at following the rules that they set for him
The first of the dateables to get a tattoo
He wasn't actually planning on getting a tattoo at first, but one day he overheard Luke trying to scold you for all of your tattoos(definitely before the incident with Beel and Lucifer in the underground tomb) and that was the only push he needed to jump on the “tattoos from MC” train
There is a lot of rhetoric in the Celestial Realm about how “Your body is a temple and you should not mark it”
He’s still not willing to stray too far from his roots though, so he’d probably get something with vaguely religious undertones
Absolutely delights in the shocked look on your face and the sheepish questions on whether angels are allowed to do this
Once he’s finally convinced you that you're not damning him to fall by tattooing him, the process goes by very easily
He is very easygoing and open regarding designs and he handles the pain very well
He absolutely loves to show his tattoo off, even when he goes home to the Celestial Realm and receives his reprimands from Michael
Leviathan
The third brother to get a tattoo from MC
Didn't want to get a tattoo at first, all of that physical contact and pain on top of it? No way
But then Mammon, Beel, and even Simeon all got one and he got jealous
You're HIS Henry, why are THEY the ones who get to wear your art? He might’ve been able to deal with his dumb brothers, but SIMEON TOO?
You gotta sit down with him and have a nice long chat about it, making sure this is something that he would actually want to do and not just his envy talking
Spoiler alert: It was definitely just his envy talking
He realises that he is actually oddly attached to the idea of getting a tattoo from you now though, so he comes up with designs and draws them on himself until he is certain that he won't regret it
Would get something tiny and probably gaming related
Definitely very squeamish about the pain aspect but the design that the two of you came up with is very simple and small, so he is able to make it through without fainting
He absolutely loves his new tattoo...but he is never doing that again
Belphegor
Fourth brother to get a tattoo
Has wanted to get one ever since Beel showed him the tattoo he got in memory of Lillith, but things were very...not good...between the two of you at that point
Finally worked up the courage to at least ask if you would be okay with it after the two of you made a pact
Beel, forgetting his super high pain tolerance, told him that it getting a tattoo doesn't hurt at all, so he was in for a big surprise when he went under the needle for the first time
Whiny at first, but he manages to stay very still for you
Has a memorial tattoo for Lilith over his heart that matches with one on Beel
Will definitely start to doze off during long sessions
Convinced Satan to get a matching Anti Lucifer League tattoo with him(definitely doesn't try to convince you to get one too)
Make sure that he does not, under any circumstances, actually fall asleep while you're tattooing him. He did once and he rolled over in his sleep, almost ruining an entire tattoo
Ever since that time, Beel has come with him to his sessions so you could focus on your work and he can focus on keeping Belphie awake
Satan
Gets his tattoo not long after Belphie
One of those people that think every tattoo needs to mean something so he takes forever trying to pick out something that he wants
Would probably get some sort of quote or design inspired by his favorite book, something that really resonated with who he is as a person
Was somehow convinced by Belphie to get an Anti Lucifer League tattoo
Does he regret it whenever he realizes that he now has a portion of his skin dedicated to Lucifer of all people? Possibly, but he definitely won't say anything about it to you
Loves to look at you and just admire your tattoos, asking the stories behind each and every one of them that he can see
He might be a bigger fan of literature than the fine arts, but that doesn't mean that he has any less of an appreciation for your work
Definitely pulls some strings and gets one of his friends who owns an art gallery to display some of your work there
Can set you up with all the connections that you need to make your mark on the Devildom art world
Lucifer
The last of the brothers to get a tattoo
In the beginning he has no intentions of getting a tattoo, he does have alot of respect for your talents and how hard you work for them though
As an art lover and artist himself, he will most certainly commission you from time to time and hang your work in his study
He won't admit it, but seeing your art and thinking of you when he's stressed with work is very soothing
He eventually decides to let you tattoo him only if it’s in a place that is easily covered by his clothes, considering how he dresses that leaves you with pretty much his entire body to work with
Sometimes when he has some time off he will grab a sketchbook and join you if he finds you in the common room working on a design, you share a comfortable silence, with the only sounds be the crackling of the fireplace and the scratching of pencils on paper
The kind of person that wants a tattoo but has no idea what he actually wants, but hes picky as fuck so he will turn down every single idea that you give him for weeks
He is lucky that you love him
Whenever you two talk about placements, if you mention anything on his back to cover up the scars from his wings he will almost back out entirely
Almost
Afew months later he’ll put his pride aside come back, admitting that your ideas would be perfect and that he wants to go through with it
During the session he has way too much pride to admit that he was feeling any pain
That is until you have to start going over the scars
As soon as the needles hit scar tissue he starts to fall apart; tears, shaking, the whole nine yards
It takes you quite a few sessions to finish since he cant handle such long sessions on that portion of his back
The summer after his new back piece is finished, he goes with you and his brothers back to Diavolo’s beach, this time he takes his shirt off in front of everyone for the first time since the fall
He wears your art with such pride that he lets everyone keep the memory, he even lets Asmo keep the pictures he took of all of them up on Devilgram
Diavolo
Wanted to be the first to get a tattoo but Barbatos said no
If you want to continue your career in the Devildom for the duration of your stay, he will buy you a building to work from and any supplies to get started since you had to leave your stuff in the human realm
Diavolo has rooms in the castle filled with the art that he's collected over the years, so when he sees that you're an artist he gets so excited
Before he finally gets tattooed by you, he buys a lot of your artwork and hangs it up around the castle
It takes a few years to propose the idea again to Barbatos in a way that wont make the butler’s hair fall out from stress, but he finally relented under one condition: it has to be in an area that is still hidden while he’s in his demon form
He decides that his legs would be the perfect place to indulge in your artistic talents while also keeping Barbatos’s controlling side at bay
Hes another one that knows he wants a tattoo but no clue what he wants to get
Unlike Lucifer though, he is a true open canvas
He truly adores your art so he wholeheartedly trusts you with his body and knows that he will love anything that you do for him
He knows that this is most likely very nerve wracking for you considering his position so he tries to reassure you and make the process very easy for you
You still put everything into designing him something fit for a king
He’s the type to prefer large pieces that span over entire sections of his body rather than abuncha small/medium sized ones
Another fidgetter, he’s really not all that accustomed to pain so he doesn't have a high tolerance for it
Likes to treat you to dinner at Ristorante Six after each of his sessions
Tips like the absolute king he is, you could probably pay a couple months of rent back at your apartment in the Human Realm just from his tip
Once his tattoo is finally finished and healed, he will find every excuse that he can think of to invite you and the brothers on outings to places where he is free from scrutiny to wear shorts and show off your artwork
Barbatos
The last of all of the boys to get a tattoo
It was a complete shock to everyone when he came to you and asked if he could make an appointment to get tattooed by you
“Everyone” being you, Diavolo, and Lucifer because nobody else knows that it happened and he would like to keep it that way
Another member of the “I’ll get one as long as it’s somewhere nobody will see” club...so basically not his face
Before the two of you get to talking about designs, you expect him to go with something small and simple, maybe an elegant little teapot or something along those lines
Then this man comes to his consultation and throws you for a loop talking about a sleeve
Very picky, he has high standards for himself and what's on his body
Knows exactly what he wants but does his best not to stifle your creativity during the design process
You learn ALOT about just who lurks behind Barbatos’s mild-mannered butler facade during his sessions, he’s surprisingly upfront and honest whenever you have him under the needle
Solomon
Can't get a tattoo
This man has pact marks for 72 demons all over his body, there is simply no more room
Any open space he has is being saved just in case any other demons *cough* Lucifer *cough* ever decide to come around to making a pact
Collects your flash and hangs it up around his room
If you take Diavolo up on his offer to set up a shop in the Devildom, he will make sure to tell all of his pact-mates about you, hype up your work, and get you a lot of business in the door
Sometimes he will commission art from you and use magic to make your art temporarily appear on his skin over the pact marks
Once you become a sorcerer and have a better grasp on your magic, he helps you experiment in creating magical inks and enchanting tattoos
Asmodeus
The only one that actually doesn't want to get a tattoo
He doesnt think that tattoos would fit in very well to the image that he has for himself
And not being able to show off every inch of his beautiful skin while its healing is a no from him
Since he likes to test out his new makeup and skincare products on you, sometimes after he has had his way with your face he will let you draw on him with skin safe markers
would definitely be a wimp about the pain
Will spam pictures to his Devilgram of his fancy new temporary tattoos and you drawing on him
Will definitely try to bring you some of his flings to get his name tattooed on them, you will have to reprimand him every single time and eventually he will stop
If you're not the type to keep up with social media, he’ll offer to keep up a Devilgram account for your shop
If you're ever attempting to draw and you have a very specific pose in your head that you can't find a reference for, he will not hesitate to get up and start posing for you
Luke
He is baby and cant have any tattoos until he's older
His mind frequently bounces back and forth between the whole “your body is a temple” rhetoric that he was taught growing up and “wow that's so cool!”
After Simeon got his tattoo Luke became a lot more enthusiastic and curious about your job though
Will occasionally ask if he can have one of your flash sheets so he can color your pictures
These very often end up on the fridge in Purgatory Hall
Sometimes they even make their way to the fridge in the House of Lamentation too
Will this make the brothers jealous? Yes. Do you care? No.
Luke loves you and looks up to you so much that he goes through a little phase of wanting to copy you, yourself and the entirety of Purgatory Hall can expect loads of temporary marker tattoos

Do you have any headcanons you have been dying to talk about but haven't had the opportunity to?
(Also, I would just like to say that I'm still completely baffled over how gorgeous that family portrait turned out to be. Hope the necromancers are treating you well.)
The service is acceptable, they're quite good at making sure all organs are in place. Thank you for the concern (and I'm happy you liked it, thanks again for letting me borrow Mary!)
Without further ado, an assortment of random hcs, both abt the characters and the maidens:
All three sisters have an affinity for art thanks to Alcina, but they prefer to work with different mediums
Bela goes for the classics, oils or acrylics on huge canvases. Cassandra lacks the patience for it so she likes quicker mediums like inks. Daniela experiments a lot but has a slight preference for colored pencils
When Miranda figured out that the mutation gave Alcina superhuman healing she went through a series of....experiments to test how far that healing goes. It was as much hell for her as you'd imagine
Nicole is the only maiden that can drive well and is the kind of driver that swears like a sailor at people that drive like idiots and would even throw hands. Thankfully for her 5'2 ass, Cassandra takes care of the hands throwing
The "village" is more like a small, self sufficient town. I got inspiration for how it is in my AU from the old part of Braşov
And it's very closely monitored by Miranda. Anything that comes in, be it a shipment for something, technology or some idiot wandering in, goes by her
It's also a lot more functional but my hcs on how the village works can be a post in and of themselves
Cassandra's hounds are more often than not part of the less... conventional hunts
Everyone knows that the moment you hear barking accompanied by giggles you may as well sit down and pray
Vast majority of the dungeon prisoners that get turned into food are actually outsiders that got shipped there one way or another as per Miranda's requests
Still developing her, but Alcina's maiden is named Esteria, is older than her both literally and figuratively and is the ice to Alcina's fire so to speak
Alcina doesn't really have any rules for the girls in regards to clothing so they end up wearing anything from pjs to fancy Victorian dresses around the castle
Not at the same time mind you. You can walk in a room and Daniela is in a fancy dress, Bela in sweatpants and a nirvana shirt and Cassandra in jeans and a button up
Still on the girls, they know multiple languages bc of course they do (same with Alcina ofc). They can speak with varying degrees of fluency german, french, italian, hungarian, some russian, english ofc and romanian is their first language.
They tend to have a bit of a language preference tho. They could start arguing and Cassandra is yelling in german at Daniela, who's replying in french while Bela is mumbling in italian abt how they're idiots.
Cassandra was born in Austria, not that she remembers it. But Heisenberg can't figure out why her accent is slightly off when she talks in german
Cynthia, the cook, is particularly good at cooking human meat. She found this talent after deciding to get revenge on her husband by cooking him up and serving him to his friends. Which Alcina found marvelous

Hello! I've oredered a bullet jornel but idk how to make it so pretty
hi anon! well firstly i just wanna remind u that ‘pretty’ is 100% subjective when it comes to these things, and i have to say that i especially notice it in regards to bullet journaling - i always feel like everyone’s spreads look miles better than mine, but people seem to like my bujo posts just fine :) so what i’m trying to say is, don’t focus on how pretty your journal is, focus on the process - do what feels good, let your creativity run wild, try new things etc. i assure you you’ll start liking your spreads more and more as you go and get a hang of it :)
here’s just a couple tips you might find helpful:
discover what medium you like best - what type of pens? gel/ballpoint? maybe markers or crayons? do you enjoy adding printed photos or stickers? it’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the options you see on studyblr, but remember that you don’t need fancy stationery to make ‘pretty’ spreads :) i usually just go for a black gel pen, a pastel marker for my accent color, sometimes i add some washi tape, but that’s it - i prefer a pretty minimalistic look to my spreads
draw inspiration from others’ bujos - ofc this doesn’t mean copy them completely (unless they say it’s alright if you do, most will if you ask them beforehand!), but you can find layout ideas and handwriting styles etc. by going through the #bujo or #bullet journal tag here on tumblr, you can also go on youtube (amanda rach lee is my fave bujo youtuber, her videos are lovely if you’re just starting out, as she does explain her process well) or instagram (again, amanda posts lots of doodle tutorials that you might like there). you can also see all bullet journal posts i’ve reblogged by searching ‘bujo’ on my blog.
when you first start out, i think the most important thing is to play around with different spreads and layouts so you can find what works best for you. do you prefer vertical or horizontal weekly layouts? do you enjoy making playlist spreads? maybe quote pages or memory collages? remember that your bujo can be anything you want! a practical life planner with a hint of art, an artistic outlet with zero functionality, do what you want and what you want only. don’t think you have to make a certain spread just bc loads of other people are making them in their own journals. i, for instance, have come to realise i have absolutely zero use for a year at a glance spread. it does look lovely, though :)
most importantly: try not to hold yourself to a too high standard. i know. it’s not easy, but toning down on perfectionism will free you and allow you to focus on journaling for the fun of it, l'art pour l'art and all that :) additionally, you can use a pencil to sketch your spread before going in with a pen, just so you can easily fix any spacing mistakes you might make
Lastly, you might also find this post by @journalsanctuary helpful
and here’s a list of some studyblrs who post their bujo spreads frequently if you want to check their work out (i find their bujos inspirational myself, so): @jeonchemstudy @study-van @museeofmoon @starrystvdy *these clearly aren’t all of my faves, just a couple i can name off the top of my head atm* + @merostudies who hasn’t posted in a while, but their spreads are drop dead gorgeous and @saltwaterstudies who doesn’t post as frequently, but i love his spreads all the same :)
@ everyone: if you also post your bujo frequently, feel free to reply to this so others can discover your blog through the notes xx
#if you have any more questions you can always send me another ask!:)#bujo#tips#anon#sabrinas mail#sabrinas masterposts#i guess lol#studyvan#jeonchemstudy#saltwaterstudies#heyzainab#starryvstudy#just gonna tag some more mutuals in case anyone else finds this helpful/useful:#medustudies#stuhde#heystasia#myhoneststudyblr#uglystudies#athenastudying#serendistudy

Spells to breakup a couple
To breakup a couple
Throughout everyday life, one is forever discontent with whatever they have. Some of the time you are with somebody and you don't feel it's acceptable however unexpectedly when you separate you understand that you need a similar individual back. In any case, at that point what occurs next that individual is as of now comparable to somebody and is glad that way. Hence around there, you need to go for a spell to separate a couple quickly. Rule/Guidelines & A bit about me
To start, I’ll share my rules. My rules are simple;
Please read what I will and won’t make content of before requesting something.
If you’re a minor, don’t interact with my sexually explicit content. I’d like to keep my blog and non-sexual content free and open to everyone.
Read my trigger warnings and use caution. My writing, unless stated otherwise, tends to be very unpleasant, realistic, and triggering. It can be harmful so please please use caution when reading my content, and don’t force your way through it.
My ask box is always open, please be kind.
You can submit anything you wish, as long as it isn’t straight porn. I find pornographic content of real people uncomfortable and I do not wish to see it.
Now that the rules are out of the way, here’s what I will or won’t draw/write for:
Art:
I’ll make art in most any medium you wish, whether it be digital, painting, ink, pencil, or a paper craft. I’m pretty open to making art and experimenting with different things.
The only medium I don’t do it sculpting. The materials and tools are expensive and hard to get for me and, while I would love to be able to try it, I just don’t have the resources and money for it.
I’ll make art of most anything, whether it be a real person, a fictional character, an oc, an object, or even a scenic picture. The only thing I draw the line on is art of real people who’ve done horrible things.
Writing:
I’m open to writing many things on my own but I limit what I write for requests. The writing I do on my own is a form of venting or self-indulgence and, as such, I can’t always make content of the same quality for a request regarding the things I write for. As such, the things I’ll be listing will be relating to requests and not my writing as a whole.
These are all subject to change as I’m constantly changing interests.
Since I first wrote this post I’ve added quite a few characters on each list and removed some as well.
I won’t write requests for anything relating to: feet, piss, or vomiting fetishes, pregnancy, rape, abuse, self-harm, drug/alcohol use, torture, and really just anything that could be harmful.
Other than that I’ll write for most anything else.
The characters I’ll write for:
Creepypasta: Jeff the Killer, Jane, Homicidal Liu, BEN Drowned, Dark Link, Eyeless Jack, Clockwork/Natalie, Hoodie/Brian, Masky/Tim, Bloody Painter/Helen, Puppeteer/Jonathan, X-Virus/Cody, Rogue, Hobo Heart
Boyfriend to Death: Rire, Sano, Cain, Ren, Damien, Akira
Possible additions to come: Degrees of Lewdity
Art Masterpost List
(I’m still setting up my writing content so a writing masterpost list isn’t available yet, but it is in the works. I’ll post it when I’ve got more varied works out)
Now, if you’re still with me, here are some things about me:
My name is Valen, or Val. I’m a 21 yo genderfluid panro ase. I accept any and all pronouns, though I prefer he/him or they/them pronouns. I’m working to become an artist and creative writer.
I’m a pretty open person and a good listener. I have zero shame. I’m not very social in person, in fact I’m quite shy and anxious around new people, but online I make a point to communicate with others. I enjoy having active followers and making conversation, don’t be shy, feel free to converse. If I call you “love”, it is a form of endearment and a sign of friendship, nothing more, nothing less.
I’ve been in the creepypasta fandom for years. Even when I felt less of a pull to it, I was still reading things here and there. It’s been a form of comfort to me and has inspired quite a bit of my original writing works. The character that’s had my heart from the beginning is the beloved rat man, Jeff the Killer. I don’t know what it is about this man that’s got me so devoted but he’s got my full heart.
My intro to the btd fandom was fairly recent in relation to other fandoms but I grew hooked fast. So far I’ve loved most all the characters but my favorites would have to be the emo sadists Sano and Cain, as well as the sweet bois Akira and Ren. My favorites of the four is constantly changing
Feel free to talk, request, and enjoy my content~💜

@chaotic-archaeologist, prepare yourself for a similar fate. As asked, here they are, this is currently what the affliction that is fountain pens looks like for me. I’ve made a new post to avoid hijacking the original.
It’s not all the pens or inks I’ve ever owned, but this is what 2-3 years of collecting has generated. I have friends with three times as many pens, so in some regards I’ve been spared, but 12 pens is still a lot in many regards.
I’m gonna cut this off since I know long text/picture posts can be a pain to scroll through, but click the keep reading if you’re interested in a breakdown of what each pen is and more pictures.
In general I really like Japanese fountain pens, particularly from Pilot and Sailor. I’m also partial to Pilot’s inks, which is all of the ones pictured. The bottom row of inks are part of their Iroshizuku line, based around colors in Japanese landscapes and nature. I also like rather large pens, since they’re more comfortable in my hands, which also happen to be pretty big and clunky. Some of the pens here are actually very small but I still like them a lot, so that’s not a hard and fast rule.
My favorite ink is the green on the far left, although I love having four different types of blue (Blue, Blue Black, Cerulean blue, and Moonlight blue). The purple and red are also very pretty to see, and the bamboo charcoal black on the far right is a nicely expressive dark ink.
It started out innocently enough, a medium Pilot Metropolitan (2nd pair from left). Then I had a Jinhao that I eventually gave away because it wasn’t really a good fit for me. I also had several brands of ink, but found myself drawn to Pilot’s in particular. I don’t write with the Metropolitan a lot anymore, but it is an excellent gateway pen and has a nice heft to it.
The fifth pair from left was my graduation gift to myself, a Pilot Falcon, which has a soft medium gold nib and writes in a way I really can’t do justice by describing. The rollerball paired with it was produced I think in the 80′s or 90′s, it was the closest match I could find.
After that came the Lamy Al-Stars (3rd from left), though I still don’t know if I like or hate the way they look. After these pens I realized I in general prefer the classic styled pens, especially in dark colors like black and burgundy (not that I currently have a burgundy pen, but I have my eye on either a Platinum 3776 or a Sailor 1911). But the rollerball writes very well and I usually reach for them when I’m traveling.
I wouldn’t use a fountain pen in the field for a variety of reasons but I do like to have one wherever I go. I also wouldn’t be heartbroken if I lost them in the same way as I would with other pens.
The first pair of pens in the picture came after the Lamys, they’re Sailor Hoshizuku (Stardust) and they have a really gorgeous pattern that does look a lot like the night’s sky in person. The Nib is also very pretty.
The last pair in the picture are from the 1940′s, with a really interesting vacuum-fill mechanism. The fountain pen has a two tone gold nib and the matching pencil uses .9mm lead. I was at an antique market and struck up a conversation with a gentleman selling a bunch of antique pens, and showed him the ones I was carrying. He offered me the Sheaffers for a very low price that was far too nice of him. I didn’t expect either to work since they’d likely been sitting in someone’s drawer for decades and because the vac-fill is not something you can repair yourself, but amazingly they both worked immediately after I cleaned them up.
Most recently I found the middle right pens. They’re the most expensive ones I’ve purchased, although as in many things I hunted for months to find a good deal on them. They’re from Pineider, an Italian company that’s been making paper for several hundred years. The resin looks incredibly nice in person, with swirling patterns. I think bright blue has become my exception to preferring more reserved pens.
Pictured in the background is one of my watches, my only quartz piece. That collection is probably a story for another time, although that collecting began even earlier than my interest in fountain pens started.
I haven’t shown the paper because that’s a nightmare to photograph for someone with as poor skills as me, although I have a fair amount of fountain pen friendly paper.
The collection is large for a non pen person, but notout of hand like other collections can be. Part of that is because I really do plan the purchases out months ahead of time, looking for just the write (hehe) pen to get. The next one will be burgundy and from Sailor or Platinum (the third of the big Japanese pen companies) as I mentioned, and most likely after that I will get a larger Pilot pen, probably in black with a gold nib. It’s not the most exciting style for some people but I love the classic and formal pens the most, it fits me quite well.
I’m happy to answer any questions about these pens or fountain pens in general (or really anything watch, lifting, grad school, or archaeology related I suppose).
If you’ve made it this far reading congratulations, here’s where it ends.

Inspiration is Motivation - Prologue
Fanfiction | Artist!Taehyung x SingleMom!Reader
Genres: Fluff, Romance, Humor, Smut
Rating: G (for this chapter)
Word Count: 2.385 words
Chapter Warnings: none
Your brows furrow at the earlier statement of your best friend, Hanna.
"Believe me, it'll help you to relax for a few hours and I'll take good care of Ty."
You have no doubt about the latter. Hanna might be that stereotype single woman who likes to go out for a couple drinks every so often, but she is a reliable caretaker and one ridiculously good cook. Based on this, she was an absolute blessing the last two times she watched over your son. However, you still feel a little uneasy about her suggestion.
"I don't know... Tyler is kind of stubborn and moody lately, how could I leave you both alone for nearly four full hours? Not to mention that I can paint at home if I want to, I don't need to go to some weird art course..." you try to defy yourself. The idea of entrusting Hanna with your five year old son for so long worries you. Just the thought of it causes a bad feeling to spread throughout your body. Hanna just rolls her eyes, however. "Listen. I already signed you up for that course this Saturday. It's supposed to start at eleven, won't go past three in the afternoon and you can calmly come back home to Tyler and me having a great time without setting your apartment on fire."
You can't fight down the amused giggle at her statement before you sigh. "Hanna, I really don't-..." you begin, only to be interrupted mid-sentence. "Yes, you do want to try it. I'll be here at 10 this Saturday and you can either go to that course or stay here with us and bathe in my judgment."
And here you are, two days later and sat on a chair in front of an empty canvas and an A3 sized sketchpad, surrounded by strangers who, just like you, are waiting for the course to begin.
You take this time to inspect the equipment provided to you. Brushes and pencils of rather good quality, however accompanied by a cheap, fizzy eraser. The watercolor paint seems decent enough. But the big bottles of acrylics and oils on the desk in the middle of the room, accessible for everyone in it, clearly are not top-notch quality. That of course does not mean it is bad per se, you just might have expected something fancier in the art department of the local Community College.
Your train of thoughts comes to an abrupt stop when you hear someone opening the big wooden door and entering the room, a deep but smooth voice wishing you and your fellow course participants a good morning. The slender figure who just stepped into the room makes your eyes grow wide the second you lay your eyes on him. He is tall, with model like features, facial as well as bodywise. His fashion sense clearly is a little extravagant, for he wears a way too oversized dress shirt with a pair of what almost seemed to be pajama pants of some sort, and a matching beige colored beret topping his head. The big round glasses topping his nose make you curious. Does he need them to see? Or were they simply added to this retro outfit because they fit the vibe?
"I'm glad you all made it here on time, unlike myself" he then speaks while rummaging in the bag he has just placed on top of the desk in the front of the room. You hear quiet giggles erupting from two slightly older women in the back. His lips curve into a handsome smile, not even needing to show the whites of his teeth to make you doubt the existence of a man with such impressive visuals. Yet, you feel kind of stupid for the way you swoon over his looks like a teenager, despite being a grown woman with a child waiting for her to return home.
The young man claps his hands together as if to catch everyone's attention, even though he already possesses the full concentration of everyone in this room. "Now, I'd like to start by introducing myself, if that's alright by you."
He swiftly turns to the chalkboard behind himself and writes down what you assume to be his name.
"My name is Kim Taehyung and I teach traditional art at the local University. But as you can tell, I'm also hosting art courses like this one once a week, while also working as a hobby freelance artist. So I guess you could say that art is my passion."
There it is again. That charming smile of his as he tends to the attentive group of people in front of him. "But enough of me, I think we're all here to improve our skills, so how about we start with some easy warm ups to get creative first?" You notice everyone responding by nodding or already flipping over the cover of the massive sketchpad in front of them to reveal a blank page. Imitating your 'classmates', you flip open your sketchpad and face Mr. Kim again.
He begins by instructing everyone to warm up their wrists by drawing circular shapes of several sizes and shading them to your heart's content to make yourself familiar with the medium you're using. Another hint of his is to try the different art materials provided to each one of the participants and see which one you'd preferably work with today.
A couple minutes later, you can tell Mr. Kim valued his participants' individuality. Only giving a rough theme for the artwork you are supposed to create, he left everything else to you. "Warm Autumn" was the theme he came up with and your mind immediately drifts off into what you would like to call your ‘creative mode’. Images of brown leaves, soft breezes of air and fluffy fabrics of knitwear come to your mind. Thus, you begin by settling on a color palette in warm brown, red and yellow tones and soon start by sketching an idea.
Mr. Kim does no longer talk to the whole course. Instead, he begins to slowly walk around the classroom and take a look at everyone's approaches on the topic. Usually, you'd get so engulfed in your works that you would blend out most of your surroundings. However, Mr. Kim's presence makes it hard for you to fully concentrate on the sketch before you like you usually would. You don't even need to look up to know where Mr. Kim currently stood at, while he gradually comes closer to where you are seated at.
The sound of his steps approaching you slowly sends shivers down your spine, just like the feeling of him standing right beside you, wordlessly examining your sketch. You can't keep from glancing up at his face as his gaze remains locked on the paper before you, an approving look surfacing on his face. He then glances at your face, his eyes meeting yours immediately as he leans down a bit to speak to you with a quieter, low voice. "Nice choice of motives. Do you have an idea for the final composition already?"
You feel your cheeks heating up as you mumble out a shy "Um, kind of", unsure of how to feel about the genuine interest Mr. Kim shows. It's been a while since someone other than your son Tyler had commented on one of your works. The young artist next to you smiles. "You're a fast one, huh? I like that. But let me know if you need anything, alright?" His voice is just as unique as his appearance. And the more you get to hear of it, the more you come to like the sound of it. Nodding your head with a smile, you thank him before he smiles back and moves on to the next participant of his course.
By the end of the course, you have created a piece you are rather proud of - the motives assembled in a harmonic way, adding to the calm and welcoming atmosphere of your painting. Throughout the creation process of it, Mr. Kim came around every once in a while to praise you for your ideas or help you improve parts of your piece in ways you wouldn't have been able to think of yourself. You have actually truly enjoyed today. At the end of the course, Mr. Kim gives his final speech in which he thanks everyone for participating and gives some last advice before sending everyone home with their final artworks. You had just put the materials you had used back to where you got them from, ready to pack your things to leave, when Mr. Kim approaches you with a gentle smile. "(Y/N), am I right?" He addresses you, your heart seemingly skipping a beat at the way your name sounds when spoken with his smooth voice. "Yes, that would be me" you say, turning to him with faked confidence. In reality, something about this Kim Taehyung makes you feel like a shy teenager again. He smiles apologetically as he asks "Do you perhaps have a minute or two to talk? If you're not in a hurry to be somewhere, that is."
To be honest, you want to apologize and leave right now. Tyler is waiting for you at home, after all. And so is Hanna. But your head nods on it’s own accord before your mind could stop it from doing so. What are a few minutes anyway, right?
"Great! Actually, I was curious to see how your piece turned out. To be honest, I didn't really get to look at it yet," he then says as he regards your artwork which is still on the easel at your seat. Examining it interestedly, he chuckles. "You're really talented, you know? This can't have been the first time you’ve painted something like this."
Your lips curve upwards in a bashful smile. "Ah, well actually... It's kind of my hobby. It's just that I haven't had much time to pursue it recently..." you answer. A soft humming noise resonates in his throat before he faces you again. "Are you interested in modern art too?" He suddenly asks, catching you a little off guard. "Modern art?" You repeat, to which he nods. "There's an art exhibition at the City Hall next friday. The main focus of it lays on contemporary artists and most works shown there are paintings and sculptures, rather than installations or anything like that. But I have a feeling that you might like it." You aren't sure where he was aiming at with this information, but you appreciate it. Mirroring his friendly smile, you say "It does sound interesting, yes. But I'm really busy lately, I'm not sure if I'll be able to go."
Mr. Kim seems understanding as he nods. "Well, if you do make it, maybe we'll meet there." He responds, making you nod slowly as you mumble a barely audible "That'd be nice." You want to ask him if there'd also be works of his exhibited there, remembering that he introduced himself as a freelance artist earlier, but the sound of your phone vibrating in your pocket interrupts you. "Ah, sorry" you then say, quickly looking at your phone to see messages of Hanna coming in. It’s nothing serious, just questions about whether Tyler still takes naps after lunch or not, since he apparently got a little energy boost after having eaten well. But it is urgent enough for you to decide that it is time to go home now. "I better get going now. Today was really nice, thank you. And thank you for telling me about the art exhibition, too. As you said, maybe we'll meet there." You speak as you collect your belongings and art piece, Mr. Kim nodding calmly and smiling as he wishes you a nice day before you leave.
On your way home, you keep thinking about today's events. About the fun you have had while painting for the first time in months and the useful help Mr. Kim had offered. The giddy feeling you got whenever he would lean in to talk to you quietly with that soothing deep voice of his. You have really had a great day, even if you still feel a little awkward for being so affected by the male's looks and kind words. But who could blame you, if said artist looks like a piece of art himself?
Arriving at home, the first thing you notice right after opening the front door is the welcoming scent of warm pancakes coming from your kitchen. Peeking past the doorframe, you smile at the sight of your best friend and son pouring dough into a frying pan together, your little son giggling in excitement.
"Hello you two" you greet the diligently working duo and laugh when your son immediately comes running to you to hug your legs and welcome you back excitedly. Crouching down to meet his eyes, you then give him a kiss on his cheek and smile at him. "Did you have a nice time with Hanna?" You ask, your smile widening when Tyler nods eagerly. "Yes! Hanna knows so many fun games for two! We played hide and seek too!” You give Hanna a glance, relieved to see her smiling just as happily as your little son. For some reason you’re always worried that he might be a little too challenging for her sometimes, but seeing her reaction to his happy storytelling, you have no doubt that she adores your son almost as much as you do.
Getting up to greet your friend properly with a short hug, you then look at the pile of pancakes on the kitchen counter. "Someone seems to be hungry, huh" you comment, Hanna rolling her eyes as she speaks, avoiding the topic. "How was the art course?"
You can feel Tyler leaning against your legs, silently requesting your attention. Picking him up to hold him close, you then begin to tell Hanna about the building, the people there, the fun you had when painting something from start to finish for the first time in ages, and in the end you thank her for having made this possible. Yet, a very specific detail you keep to yourself for now - Kim Taehyung.

What other career supplies that possibility? So who got the last laugh? Well, van Gogh did, obviously. He's for life celebrated as one of the greatest human beings to have ever lived. Okay for somebody that never made a cent in his own life time. However in the age of the Internet and the globally marketplace, artists don't have to starve any longer. I'm not depriving, and I'm making money doing what I enjoy. I can also function anywhere, whether I'm on holiday or traveling to unique areas. I love that the most regarding it. I can do whatever I desire and also wherever I desire, as well as publish a paint for sale from Ibiza, Paris, London ... or Omaha. I wouldn't patronize anyone. As well as you won't either if you operate at it and also treat as a means to provide beauty to the globe and make money for it!
The purpose of this article is to take the secret out of the procedure of paint. This short article is just written to obtain you started. I'll create extra in-depth strategies later on. However this short article will certainly establish you on your means to trying out and having fun with paint. Inevitably it's like anything in this globe. Before you have the expertise, it's complicated. Once you have it, it's very easy! Knowledge is power, and also this sensation certainly applies to paint. The technological facets are the very easy component. Anyone can do it. You eventually could be as capable as Monet with method. We humans can do whatever we make a decision to do! Deciding WHAT to paint is the tough part. It takes technique and also a however focused need to develop one paint after an additional. For whatever factor, I loved it the minute I began. And I never looked back. I love it today as high as I did over 16 years back. I never ever have "writer's block" either as to what to paint. I simply paint from my experiences in life. So do not think too hard on it. Paint that apple resting on the table, or repaint the tree in your very own backyard, repaint your girlfriend in an unusual way. But paint something that implies something to you, that's all that issues. Make it fashionable, make it fascinating. If it's abstract, bear in mind that abstract art has actually long been the most desirable. It's an expression of the private, make it one-of-a-kind. For those who desire realism, take a picture. What's amazing is that as soon as you do it, you understand it's the utmost getaway into joy. Instantly you neglect your issues for that period of time. You have control, and also nobody can take it far from you once you are proficient at painting. The procedure is addictive. However like anything, you have to BEGINNING! And as soon as you do, look out ... you'll be addicted.
OK, let's start. Step one ... supplies. You need a level brush, a follower, a small detail brush and a couple of Filberts. A filbert is a rounded side brush that lets you navigate the paint quickly without going outside the sides. Inevitably get brushes that you like however, and also make them function. Followers permit you to mix, for instance. I utilize followers a lot and also it's just how I graduate color throughout my photos. Every little thing I repaint is by hand ... no airbrushing or aides. I want it to be an expression of me as well as no one else. You likewise need an oil painting medium to blend with the oil paint to make it much more fluid, and also to speed up or reduce the drying out process. Whichever you like. Most likely to the art store and do not be afraid to request aid ... they'll love helping you! A tool is merely an additive fluid which raises gloss, makes it stream easily, maintains the coating in time, maintains it from yellowing. I personally like Galkyd and Galkyd Lite. If that isn't readily available, get a medium that appears like liquid amber as well as is sort of thick. Do not buy watery looking mediums ... too tough to deal with.
The lite variation of Galkyd is merely thinner. I utilize it more than the other. I enjoy it. Paintings I did 16 years ago making use of Galkyds look as immaculate as the day I repainted them. You'll additionally require a canvas as well as some paint. I buy a tube of red, eco-friendly, blue, purple, yellow, brown, white and black. I favor what's called Ivory Black and also a soft blending white as you'll include white to a great deal of various shades to lighten versions. From these basic shades you can make any type of unique color by blending them in combination's. Be imaginative as well as experiment. And don't hesitate of color, due to the fact that shade is the most preferred in museums! The bright paintings are traditionally the group faves. As for shade selection from these standard colors, mix red and white to make pink, mix yellow with green to make lime green, white with blue to make light blue, white with black to make grey, and so on. Utilize your good sense as well as have fun with it! You'll additionally require pencils, an eraser as well as some Turpentine or Turpentine replacement. Keep your brushes taking in it in a plastic mug to maintain them clean and also ready for your following shade selection ... and also to keep them from drying.

My name is James Gurney, and I was born in Glendale, California and raised in Palo Alto. I’ve loved drawing since I was a kid and taught myself drawing by reading books by my child heroes, Norman Rockwell and Howard Pyle. By the time I was in high school, I had learned how to do hand-lettering and made my very first income by designing wedding invitations.
After high school, I attended college at UC Berkeley. I majored in archeology, as I always found it fascinating, and though I graduated with an archeology degree, I always wanted to be an illustrator. So I packed up all of my belongings into a tiny car and headed down to the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, never having seen the place.
I had read old books about the French Academy, and I somehow imagined art school would be this hushed atmosphere with high ceilings and north windows and plaster casts of Greek gods, with the walls covered with academic studies. It was not like this at all. It was shiny and corporate and minimalist. The emphasis was on product design, abstraction, and “concept” illustration, whatever that meant. I wanted to dissect cadavers! I wanted to make pictures that told stories!
I left school for the summer and never came back. I think I was dizzy from all the marker fumes and art theories. I wanted to see America. I said good-bye to all of my friends, loaded my backpack with peanuts, and sketchbooks, and jumped onto an open boxcar eastbound from the LA freight yards.
All summer long, I slept in graveyards and on rooftops and sketched portraits of gravestone cutters and lumberjacks. To make money I drew two-dollar portraits in bars by the light of cigarette machines.
My first real art job was doing engraved line illustrations for ring ads in the newspaper. It was a start, but it didn’t pay the bills. My big break was getting a job painting backgrounds for an animated film called Fire and Ice, co-produced by Ralph Bakshi and Frank Frazetta, and released in 1983. It was a marathon of painting, because I had to paint about 600 paintings in a year and a half.
The best thing about the film work was the feeling of living inside my paintings. When I saw my pictures projected on the screen with action and music, it really felt like I was inside the world I was painting, not just looking at little flat rectangles. Howard Pyle always talked about jumping through the picture frame and breathing the air you just painted, and that was the first time I completely experienced that feeling.
Next, I started painting fantasy book covers and working for National Geographic as an archaeological illustrator. When I started there, National Geographic still sent its artists and art directors to meet the archaeologists on location. On some of my first assignments I had a chance to see Rome, Tarquinia, Cerveteri, Norchia, and Populonia for an article on the Etruscans. We visited some newly discovered tombs with an archaeologist named Rick Bronson. The archaeologists and paleontologists were always incredibly helpful, as was the National Geographic staff, which includes full-time art researchers.
Later, I stopped doing freelance for a couple of years to focus on writing and illustrating a book that would become Dinotopia: A Land Apart From Time. The idea for the book grew out of my love of archaeology and lost worlds, but the idea of combining lost worlds and dinosaurs came a little later.
One of the reasons I wasn’t too obsessed with dinosaurs as a kid was that most books showed them as evolutionary failures, dull-witted cold-blooded sluggards. When I took a fresh look at dinosaurs as an adult, I quickly discovered that many scientists now regarded them as dynamic, warm-blooded creatures who had more in common with birds than with reptiles.
Any kind of imaginative realism: paleoart, concept art, wildlife art, or historical painting is totally different from a still life because you start with a hazy mental image and you have to provide the convincing details in stages. I’m thoroughly old-school. I start with small thumbnail sketches in pencil or watercolor. If it’s an architectural subject or a dinosaur, I’ll build a maquette out of any material at hand.
Most of my paintings try to make the impossible look inevitable. I like to think beyond a single work of art and imagine things from many angles, or imagine how they would look in a thousand years. What would happen if an object were picked up by an alien culture and used in a different way? Such leaps of imagination are what an engineer is doing all the time, and most science fiction people aren’t too far removed from that kind of thinking.
My Watercolor Supplies
I have a 12-color set of full-pan watercolors and a small, changing set of gouache. I keep a several different brands in play at any given time, and combine colors from more than one brand in any given painting. I use a heavyweight, medium-textured watercolor paper for all my water media paintings and sketches.
My preferred watercolors include a Schmincke Horadam 12 Color Set, Holbein (gouache), M. Graham (gouache), Winsor & Newton (gouache), Shinhan Pass (watercolor/gouache hybrid), Richeson (casein).
For brushes, I use a Winsor Newton series 995 flat, Winsor Newton long flat bristle brush #8, Richeson short-handled travel set and Richeson “Grey Matters” brush set.

Conclusion
I would advise anyone beginning to draw and paint to forget about style and to draw and paint as naturally and faithfully as possible, especially at the beginning. I think it’s a mistake to dwell on developing a personal style, because sometimes the style gets in the way of really seeing.
Though, there’s no doubt that it’s a tough time right now to make a living as an illustrator. But that can change. We have to win back the public by coming up with new ways to tell stories with pictures. We have more resources at our fingertips than any of our artistic ancestors ever dreamed of, and there are unlimited opportunities if we can just try to rise to the high ideals and standards that they came before us.
Illustration is a proud calling. We should never forget how lucky we are to be able to conjure dreams out of thin air.

This summer, two events in Star Wars comics became my primary source of recreation - Hope Dies, in the main, and The Catastrophe Con, in Aphra. Now that both have concluded, summer feels well and truly over, and I’m compelled to look back at why these comics played such a significant role in keeping me palliated and docile within the machine entertained.
There’s something about experiencing a comic live, when there’s a wait between issues, when the covers and solicits are both the doorway to the latest developments and to future speculations (covers don’t have the same impact in a trade paperback), when the imagination still has the time and space to imagine what sort of composition it is in which one finds oneself. While the experience is similar to reading an updating WIP or fan-comic, it also could not be more different. There are strict temporal and material boundaries, for one: fixed update schedules, page budgets, studio-set limits on what characters can be used in what way. Issues tend to be structured to do one thing you expect while introducing some new thing to keep the appetite whetted for the next issue - around cliffhangers, I guess, if the cliffhangers are also conceived of as major and minor twists (huge generalization, please take all of this with a grain of salt, I’m basically speculating aloud here and will probably regret it greatly after posting). All of this affects what one is given to read and how one reads it.
[The comparison to fanfic is deeply flawed, since comics are ultimately mass-produced consumables whereas fanfic is ... the product of consumption plus some measure of active interpretation? Idk, I vacillate on whether fanfic is not itself just a more involved way of keeping its readers and writers permanent consumers or whether it does have the potential to open a sort of space for critical thought and action regarding ourselves and society - I used to think the latter, now am increasingly unconvinced.]
Anyway, keeping in mind that comics are products of the culture industry and designed to be just unsatisfying enough that you want to consume the next issue and the next and the next and ... something that does possibly fragment them a little is the collaborative process. Franchise novels are by their very nature interpretations of a text (here: Star Wars), interpretations stamped with the mark of authenticity after having been subjected to various controls, but they present the façade of coming from one author (one authority). Franchise comics are also canon-stamped interpretations of a text, but an additional interpretative process is reflected in every panel, since these comics tend to be written, pencilled, inked, and then colored by completely different people. (If you look at the Director’s Cut of the original Darth Vader #1, you can compare Gillen’s script to Larroca’s panels and see something of that communication process.) Each panel is the witness to a set of interpretative decisions, and I think that contributes to my vast preference for comics over novels in a franchise setting: they model active interpretation - or is it a kind of interpretative lack, a kind of gap between word and image? - even before the reader gets to them. The kinds of discussions we’ve been able to have here around Darth Vader especially would speak for the “gap” as a powerful incentive to thought - the gap between issues, the gap between word and image, the gap created by a medium that does not have the space or desire to hand-hold, to narrate every step from a to b, that uses image to imply those steps, thus creating new gaps for interpretative energy to fill, etc.
Enough pretentious rambling. Let’s be real, I was sucked in very obviously for purely consumerist reasons - Vader was going to be in both, of course yours truly was going to buy all the comics. That I also liked these two events because the creative teams (Gillen and Larroca, Spurrier and Walker, to name only the authors and pencillers, respectively) tend to produce interesting tensions on a page was more of a bonus, probably, than anything else.
Spoilers from here on out.
It was fun to imagine where these comics could go while they still had room to follow my Id. I’ve learned a lot about myself in the process - what assumptions I tend to make, my severe limits and biases as a reader, why I care so damned much about issues that promise meetings between a dark father archetype and some daughter archetype (I’ll say it aloud: I lack a positive relationship to not only my own father, but pretty much every male authority figure in my life, and am using Vader and his daughter/daughter-surrogates to work this through. Arrogance, much?). I’ve learned not to get my hopes up anymore, that this is a gap I have to bridge on my own.
Which is not to say that the events were disappointments, on the contrary. Hope Dies developed rhymes from Vader in ways I really enjoyed thinking about, bringing together a daughter (Leia) and her surrogate-mirror (Trios) in philosophical and physical conflict, showing Vader at his weirdest and worst, at his most controlling and at his most blind (to his daughter(s)), at his most controlled (precisely when you think he’s off the leash he’s shown lashed to it). I loved it, and think it will hold up even better with a little distance, when read all together as one piece. Trying to describe the experience, I’m inclined to say it was like reading the next book of an epic poem - or the next stanza of one long poem - there were poetic qualities to the experience, in other words.
The Catastrophe Con felt more like an enjoyable puzzle where all the pieces are given in staggered spurts at the start and the race is to put them together correctly before the minor and major twists are revealed. I had fun with that, failed miserably of course, but learned a great deal about how comics can be written in the process. Like - the spores. What do the spores do? They keep Aphra in the jail and indirectly bring a host of different agents to the jail by messing with her escape plan, thus setting up the final conflict. They bring out her greed. They create something of a mystery to keep readers invested. They drop clues about Lopset. They remind her of her mother so she can reflect aloud on the theme of choice versus necessity, on categorial versus hypothetical ethics, a major theme in Aphra comics that will also explicitly structure the next arc. And they invoke the Force, and thus can keep Vader distracted so that Sana can rescue Tolvan. Which, I mean, is a way of putting the joke on Vader - he misses something essential because he runs off to deal with an empty spectre. Is that what I thought the spores would do at the time? In some ways yes, but mostly no. One could ask the same question of the Bor - what does it do? One could argue that it establishes lore (recasting Bodhi's torture, giving us new information about Aphra's electric tattoos) and gives Aphra a way to escape. But it also serves as the means of bringing out Aphra's capacity for great love and infinite selfishness at the same time, highlighting how decoupled her emotions are from her self-preserving actions, contrasting her with characters like Vader and Triple-Zero. The Bor is a powerful tool in that sense.
All of which is to say: these comics did something in my life, and it was a definite experience to open myself up to the process in this way, an experience worth thinking about and learning from for the future. Time now to go out into the world and do something active with it. /end of navel-gazing

In the Shadows of the Rising Sun: Chp 4
Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3
Bit longer chapter this time. I hadn’t intended it that way but here we are.
Chapter 4: Cheap Food Among Friends
Word Count: 2,379
The spare key clicked and Chise poked her head into the apartment. The center room and kitchenette were bare as she knew them to be but tonight she would take no chances. She slipped inside, locked the door behind her, toed off her shoes and deposited her book bag against the coffee table in a single fluid motion. She considered drawing the curtains on the glass doors leading to the mini awning but decided that the fifth floor facing away from the road was far enough from prying eyes. The apartment was stifling enough without cutting out natural light.
One last scoping glance around the room, all clear. ”Ok, you can come out now.”
Her dim shadow cast by the overhead light began swirling and ribboning into the air. The blackness fell away leaving Elias’ thin hunched over form towering in the apartment room. A loud thud sounded as Elias stood upright allowing his horns and parietal bone to become very acquainted with the ceiling.
”Are you ok?!”
He rubbed the top of his skull. ”I’m fine. However...” the shadows enveloped his body once again leaving him as liquid darkness for just a second. When it stopped Elias stood before Chise exactly like before except now he stood only a head taller than her.
”Wow.” He was just full of surprises now wasn’t he? He cocked his head
”Is this better?” He asked eagerly.
”It’s perfect.” Chise nodded, “Wait here for a moment, I’m going to change out of my uniform.” She secured a change of clothes from her small cardboard box where she kept the few things she owned and stole into the bathroom. She returned briefly in her Capri jeans and an oversized tee that almost hung to her knees. No one ever took the time to decipher her correct clothing size but too large was undeniably preferable to the other extreme.
Elias had settled next to the coffee table, and for once Chise was grateful for the lack of furniture in the cramped little apartment. The main room just barely had enough space to accommodate the coffee table and her futon when it was laid out. There had been a television in the center room when she first arrived, however, Reina had moved it into her own room along with almost everything else of ‘value’.
Elias pointed at her shin where her gauze was in need of changing. ”How are your wounds?”
She sat on the opposite side of the table and shrugged. ”Better today, they were mostly just little scrapes. I only had one big cut.”
Elias nodded. ”Good.”
Elias sat quietly, placing his hands on the table his gaze never leaving Chise. She rested her elbows on the table and drummed her fingers. She waited for him to say something...and waited...and waited…and-. Chise swallowed awkwardly and shifted a little to avoid his gaze.
Now what? She honestly hadn’t considered what she would actually do if Elias came home with her. Chise could count on one hand the number of times she had someone over to visit. Well, she could count on less than one hand actually.
The silence finally broke when her stomach growled, prompting Elias to shift his head like a curious puppy. Pink bloomed in Chise’s cheeks as she laid her hand firmly over her noisy tummy. ”Sorry! Oh, uh, are you hungry? I can make us dinner.”
Elias made a huffing noise almost like a chuckle. ”That sounds good.”
Thankful for the interruption, Chise rose for the kitchenette, Elias trailing behind her. She reached for the cabinets before stopping. ”Is there anything you want in particular?” He shook his head. ”No, anything will do.” She hoped he actually meant that.
The cabinets were about as full as one could expect from a home whose occupants avoided being home as much as possible; a half-full box of granola bars, a loaf of bread, cereal and three packages of cup ramen. Deciding the ramen was closest to an actual meal, she seized two packages. Fortunately, there were a half dozen eggs in the fridge that could make the dinner a little more substantial.
Elias watched intently as she heated the stove while pouring water into the cups and depositing them into the microwave. The microwave whirred quietly as she monitored the eggs, two for Elias and one for herself. After both cups were warm and drained, she slipped the over medium eggs atop of the noodles. She placed the cups and two forks, figuring that there was little chance Elias would be able to use chopsticks, on the table. She lastly set two mugs of tap water next to their ramen before sitting down and muttering ‘Itadakimasu’ under her breath. Elias resettled at the table, staring at the cup in front of him.
Deciding to lead by example, Chise slowly began her meal, breaking the yolk and twisting her noodles into a spindle on her fork. She looked to Elias and gave what she hoped was an encouraging grin. He took his fork, his entire hand curved around the handle with the prongs sticking out near his thumb, and gingerly poked at his food. Gold egg yolk bled against the prodding utensil as Elias tried to mimic Chise’s actions. His elbow bent awkwardly to the ceiling while he churned the ramen in the cup, finally securing a bit only to fling it off as he tried to bring it to his mouth.
“Sorry...” he muttered as Chise cleaned the sticky food before it could stain. She shook her head gently.
“It’s ok, here give me your hand.” She spread his fingers and placed the fork between his middle and forefinger, securing it with his thumb, in the same manner she would hold a pencil. “Try holding it like this.” He flicked his wrist experimentally before making another attempt. After some clumsy maneuvering, he managed to gracelessly drop the noodles between his open jaws. “What do you think?”
He swallowed throatily without chewing. “It’s very salty but good.”
They spoke very little during their humble dinner. Except for a few small mishaps, Elias quickly mastered the fork as the noodles rapidly disappeared behind his bone jaws. Chise wasn’t far behind, all but devouring her ramen and ignoring decorum as she slurped the leftover juice.
Empty cups cluttered the table as they contentedly sighed in unison. As Chise cleaned the table she noticed her eyelids had suddenly grown very heavy. Her gait was sluggish and tired as she tossed the styrofoam cups in the bin. She stifled a long yawn as she sat next to the coffee table once again. How strange, the sun had only just set.
Gaining her attention with a grunt Elias said, “Thank you for the meal. That was the first I have eaten in a while.”
Oh, so that was it. Pathetic as it was, the tub of noodles was the first meal she had managed to finish since… she couldn’t remember when. Chise had grown so accustomed to the constant sharp ache of her stomach squeezing empty space she had completely forgotten what a full belly felt like.
It was then that she finally noticed the apartment was truly empty save for herself and her odd guest. She could see and hear nothing scurrying along the floor or walls. Even the shapeless ones that seemed to perform no function but to gurgle and take up space were nowhere to be seen. No yokai, no monsters, no demons, nothing.
It was so…quiet.
Keeping her dictionary on hand, Chise said “Elias can I ask you something?” He nodded. “Those… things, like the one that chased me yesterday, do you know what they are? Why no one else can see them?”
Elias seemed to contemplate her words for a moment before answering. “Where I am from they are called fae creatures, or neighbors when they are not openly hostile.” He paused while she thumbed the dictionary until receiving the ok to continue. “They are creatures that exist beyond the veil of ordinary mortals. In order to see them a human must have a connection with that veil. But that connection means that the fae can interact with that human as well.”
Her brows knitted together. “So… I have that connection?”
“Yes and one of the strongest connections I have ever seen.” His eyes regarded her curiously. “I am surprised you do not already know this. The magic you performed earlier was quite impressive.”
“Ma-magic?” She blinked and consulted her dictionary; yup mahō, he had definitely meant magic. “What magic?”
“You warmed our meal without any fire.” He stated matter of factly.
“Warmed...you mean the oven? That isn’t magic it's electricity. It just human technology.”
At this, Elias looked very taken aback. His head swiveled around the room as if something that had just been out of sight decided to reveal itself. “Japan is even more different than I thought.”
“Wait, are you saying I could do that? Magic?” Despite herself, a small flutter of wonder rose in her chest.
His studious gaze fell on her again. “I believe so.” He said slowly. “But I would not recommend it if you are inexperienced like you say. If you are not careful it can be dangerous.” Bone fangs clacked and clicked against each other. Maybe it was her imagination, but Chise could have sworn she saw his shoulders tense.
“Why is that?”
“Because your body is so weak.” The fluttering froze. “All sleigh beggy are like that.”
The frozen hummingbird sitting in her rib cage crashed to her stomach and shattered, seeping ice through her veins.
Long tresses of scarlet trailing like ribbons swam just outside her vision. because...so weak...even a baby is stronger...late at night a tiny girl has wandered where a single fluorescent bulb illuminates a narrow hallway. A man is kneeling there and in a few words and a pat on the head, he is gone. Lonely nights and days follow as clothes begin to hang looser and looser. Before long even she is failing, taking step after step leaning and reaching and-
Chise gasped sharply as her thin nails drew pricks of blood in the muscle of her forearm.
Pressure squeezed in her throat and breathing became difficult. Hurriedly and without much thought she excused herself to take a shower and rummaged her night clothes out of her pathetic little box, just barely acknowledging Elias’s reply and finding sanctum in the bathroom.
She hadn’t meant to slam the door.
Chise breathed deeply but found her lungs incapable of holding the air as she tore off her clothes in a furious hurry. Water pattered loudly from the limescale coated facet and she lingered under the torrent long after she was clean and rinsed. The water scalded, she could run it hot on these weekend retreats when Reina could not scold her for using it up, until it ran cold from overuse. But still, she lingered shivering and desperate for the sensations outside to distract her from the ones within to no avail.
She was terrified. Not of the inhuman creature sitting just outside her door, but of the feelings and uncertainties thrashing within her. It had been easy to operate on a high when could just act and not think. But her old wounds had torn open so suddenly, so violently, she could no longer tell past from present.
Her arms wove around her chest in a sad subconscious hug to stave off the cold. Why had she dared to think that she could forge a friendship when her mind and body were so pathetically fragile? She almost longed for the time when she was angry, alone and numb; only feeling alive when terror or pain shot through her veins. At least it had been simple.
Eventually, she exhausted her heart and stepped out, numb and dripping, on the cold linoleum. Her scrapes from yesterday and pricks from today needed attendance and she bandaged them absently. After she had meticulously dried and dressed she walked out of the bathroom uncertain of what she would say or do.
Her eyes fell on Elias facing the only window at the back of the center room and at once her nerves calmed. She knew exactly where she was again.
An anchor in the storm. A perch.
Chise walked quietly, her feet padding beside him as she kneeled beside him mirroring his posture. The sky was clear and dark, the clouds retreating on the horizon having decided they had overstayed their welcome. His head had tilted up searching high into the night sky that was always quick to greet the earth on short winter days. A few bright stars dotted the dusk waiting for their brothers and sisters to join their shift.
A thought presented itself to her. “What are the stars like in Lapland?” A considering rumble resounded in his throat.
“The constellations are the same but their positions are slightly different. Some nights the moon and stars are bright enough guide by.” His gaze fell to the blaring neon and yellow lights where the city’s heart lay “I have never seen anywhere humans make enough light to dim the stars.”
“The city is really bright.” She agreed.
“Almost as if the stars reside on the ground instead.” He hummed.
Stars sitting on the earth. Two lonely little stars sitting in an apartment. What a funny notion.
She hummed wistfully. “The sky unobstructed by human light, stars as far as the eye can see.” She shifted to wrap her arms around her legs lying her head against her scrawny and scarred kneecaps. She no longer remembered the searing pain that seized her just moments ago. Her eyes were heavy but she did not think that fatigue was the culprit. “I’d like to see it someday.”
Elias turned to stare at her, only one red eye visible from the angle of his skull. Something was different in the light of his eyes from when she first met him in the forest. Something she couldn’t place.
On some foolhardy instinct, perhaps an ache to assure herself that he was real, her hand cautiously curled around his. Chise could not meet his eyes.
Claws encircled fingers. “I hope that you will.”

July BoxyCharm thoughts
July‘s theme was Road Trippin and everything in this box was supposed to be something you could take with you on a road trip. Since my June box was so good I knew that the July box was going to be rough simply because I knew it wasn’t going to compare. However, this box ended up being better than I thought it would in comparison so let’s talk about what I got in my July Boxycharm and what I thought about it.
First up and my least favorite item in the box is the Note Cosmetics Luminous Silk Compact Blusher in Desert Rose. This blush is sort of a dusty peach color and it's very pretty but it’s also very pigmented on the skin. For me, since I prefer to build up my blushes, that’s not a good thing. Since I am very fair, Pigmented blushes tend to make me look clownish which is why I prefer to build up my blushes. I found myself having to use a very light hand applying this and really blending it in for it to work for me which is why I just didn’t really like this blush.
The next item I’m going to talk about and my second least favorite thing in the box is the Crown Brush Fuego Eyeshadow Collection. It’s not that this isn’t a good pallet. The shades are fairly pigmented and blend well, it’s just that this looks so much like a lot of other things I have that I like much much better. I mean, if you’re starting out and you don’t have a lot of warm shadows I think this would be a nice pallet to add to your collection. However, if like me you have a lot of warm pallets already it just seems like more of the same shades in a formula that isn’t as great as some of the ones I already own.
Next item in is the Farmacy Beauty Bright-on mask. This mask turns from purple to green when you rub it in and it supposed to remove impurities and build up while improving skin’s brightness, texture, and tone. I do like the feeling of this mask when it’s on. It has a slight cooling feeling and I do feel think it improves the brightness and tone of my skin but I don’t think it removes impurities and build up. That’s why this is in the middle of the pack. I like the mask but I don’t really think it does everything it says it does.
The next item and my second favorite item in the box is the Chella Beauty Eyebrow Cream. The packaging of this is a little deceiving. It looks like it’s going to be a regular eyebrow pencil but when you take off the one end it’s actually a brush and when you remove the bottom part it’s a cream. That alone had me intrigued but after using this, I have to say I’m impressed. It applies really well, the brush works nicely, and it has really nice staying power. The shade name did make me worry a little bit because Tantalizing Taupe sounds pretty light but it actually worked out really well for me and my medium brown hair. Definitely would consider buying this.
The last item and my favorite item from my July box is the Wander Beauty Unlashed Volume and Curl Mascara. The wand for this mascara has a slightly curved bristle brush which I find separates and lengthens my lashes the best. The formula was also nice as it did not smudge or flake off during the day. Mainly, I just really liked how my lashes looked using this mascara and I would consider buying this.
Overall this month wasn’t a bad month in regards to items I just think that June was such a home run that the July box kind of didn’t have a chance to live up to that. However, I did find a couple of really good product so I am pretty happy with my box.
Those were my thoughts on my July BoxyCharm next up will be my June and July favorites so until then.
Later weirdos,
Snow
