Penang Tales : Dining with The Most Beautiful Scenery in Penang (Part 2)

This is Part 2 of our Penang Trip. Both my sisters came back from USA and Australia respectively for a short break. We went to Penang to visit our mom's side family and had a simple family wedding dinner ceremony of my sister Skye (  @skyemak  ) and her husband, Victor.

Here we traveled to Armenian Street in Georgetown and visited some tourist attractions there ie Hock Teik Cheng Sin Temple, Khoo Kongsi, Famous Murals like the Bicycle Mural, and did some shopping. Then for lunch, we went to Restaurant Taman Emas opposite Penang Girl School for their laksa (It's really delicious but I've tasted better). Then we went to Straits Quay and had Nyonya Dinner at Nyonya Breeze. It was great!

We spent the next day at Penang Hill. Visited many attractions within the Penang Hill, my sister Skye went to The Habitat with Victor. The rest of us chilled at David Brown at the top of Penang Hill. Then we gathered and headed to Hickory at Penang Hill for Lunch. It was the most memorable experience. Scenery of Penang is most beautiful there. The over a century old structure is very well maintained and clean. Food was amazing. It was quiet. I think not many people know about it. Or many just don't want the trouble of stopping in the middle of Penang Hill as the Funicular Railway train only stops by there once every hour and we had to let them know in advance each travel, and call them again 5 minutes prior to the departure time.

My sister had her simple wedding dinner for family at Starview. It was delicious and cozy.

Mình ở Penang rất ngắn ngày, nên book khách sạn ngay trung tâm George Town để đi bộ xung quanh ăn uống, thăm thú cho tiện. Mình ấn tượng với Penang rất nhiều bởi đây là Malaysia mà mình dự định sẽ được nhìn thấy sau 4 ngày di chuyển khắp KL. Penang khá giống Hội An, nhưng rộng hơn rất nhiều, mỗi góc đường lại có vẻ gì đó khác nhau, người dân lại rất ít nên dù chiều tối, sáng hay trưa đường xá cũng khá vắng vẻ. Ăn uống ở đây khá rẻ và dễ ăn hơn ở KL nhiều.

Mình ăn #dimsum ở Tai Tong Restaurant vào chiều tối sau khi checkin khách sạn xong. Ăn sáng (ăn trưa luôn thể) ở Toh Soon Cafe, ăn bánh mì nướng vừa mềm, vừa xốp rất ngon, rất rẻ, 2 người ăn 2 phần bánh mì, 1 ly cafe, 1 ly trứng hấp và 1 phần cơm nắm mà chỉ khoảng 55k (RM10). Buổi chiều ăn #laksa khá ngon cũng trên cùng con đường đó. Vì không có nhiều thời gian nên chủ yếu đi dạo, ra cảng Chew Jetty nhưng vì ra buổi đêm nên chả có gì. Tụi mình có ghé qua Kek Lok Si Temple nhưng vì trời mưa cũng lớn nên k chụp ảnh được chỉ đi quanh phía trong tham quan và treo bùa cầu an ;)))))

Nói chung có thể vì ít thời gian, có thể vì thời tiết, ở Penang chả kịp chơi gì. Nhưng đối với mình đây thật sự là nơi đáng để đi khi tới Malaysia. Không khí mát mẻ hơn, con người thân thiện hơn, đồ ăn cũng ngon hơn nữa. Mình cứ thế đi bộ quanh quanh, lâu lâu quay sang nhìn góc đường là như thấy cảnh một nơi khác 😉😌

Penang Tales : Food, Heritage, and More! (Part 1)

Both my sisters came back from USA and Australia respectively for a short break. We went to Penang to visit our mom's side family and had a simple family wedding dinner ceremony of my sister Skye ( @skyemak1454 ) and her husband, Victor.

Our cousins in Penang always welcome us with super warm treatment and hospitality. We had an amazing dinner at Maple Palace Chinese Restaurant when we arrived, it's really highly rated on Google, go check it out. Food was super delicious!

We stayed at this Holiday Apartment in Pulau Tikus called Codrington House. It's really huge and cozy! Super convenient, huge parking, and it's in the middle of so many attractions and famous food places.

The next morning we had a huge breakfast of many famous Penang dishes that my cousins brought to our apartment. We certainly ate too much. Then we headed out to Cheong Fatt Tze - The Blue Mansion. Very nice historical place. They even shot part of Crazy Rich Asian there, and many other movies and dramas. Worth it.

Then we went to a famous Nyonya Kuih place called Moh Teng Pheow Nyonya Koay. Very delicious!

It was just a random dinner with friends and found this good ramen place where you can get unlimited ramen refill for FREE! 哥哥の拉面Kyodai Ramen Restaurant located in Kimberly Street Penang does surprised me with their food where you can have extremely fluffy Tamagoyaki cook upon order and many sides available. We ordered Tonkotsu Ramen, Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen and Kyodai Special(spicy) Ramen. They are all priced around RM25 per bowl and we were very satisfied with the food.
