watching Pen15 for the first time, specifically the slumber party episode in season 2, and the visceral flashbacks I’m having are almost more than I can handle 😳

like…. the absolute toxicity that is a 3-way friendship between middle school girls. it’s all coming back to me.

oh also the school dance. and the pool party. and the fights with their moms. and yeah basically the whole show is phenomenal and I think anyone who has been through middle school should watch it lol

Can there be a petition for a remake of freaks and geeks, since season 2 is impossible as it was cancelled, but can it actually be good and not shit with bad writing like other coming of age, American highschool shows, with bad jokes. With more characters and storylines too please. Also no stupid outfits that adults think gen z wear just regular clothes depending on the character,and no characters that look 30. Something like the show Grand army but more comical or like Pen15(ik Maya and Anna’s actors are adults) or even the A24 film Eighth grade or mid90s‼️🙏🧎🏾‍♀️🧎🏾‍♀️🧎🏾‍♀️(I’m actually begging and frothing at the mouth) (also If they want to include references to modern society like tik tok and pop culture can it be written in well)

The shows that were nominated include HBO’s fantastic Barry, Netflix’s brilliant Russian Doll, and newcomer PEN15 from Hulu.Ĭheck out the full list of WGA TV nominations below. On the comedy side, Fleabag was not nominated, but this was no snub-the series is ineligible because creator/writer/star Phoebe Waller-Bridge is not part of the WGA. The show was completely shut out from the WGA nominations. The biggest surprise in the drama category was the lack of recognition for Game of Thrones, which won the Best Drama Series Emmy award for its divisive final season. The David Fincher series feels a bit like an underdog and the excellent first season was essentially ignored by awards voting bodies, but thankfully the show’s also-excellent Season 2 drew notice from the WGA. Critical darling Succession also made the Best Drama cut, and I was pleasantly surprised to see Netflix’s Mindhunter singled out for the show’s second season. Chief on the list is HBO’s Watchmen, which has been scoring critical raves for each episode as it also proves to be a ratings hit for the pay cable network. The Writers Guild of America announced TV nominations for the WGA Awards today, and some excellent television programs made the cut.
