Following Kimmy’s shenanigans after she’s rescued from a doomsday cult in Durnsville, Indiana. I’d intially watched the first season and a half to two seasons and then finally finished the series once I heard about the ‘interactive’ made-for-netflix movie. The opening scene to the song that becomes the theme to the scene at the Today Show was fantastic. This show felt like it was of the same universe as 30 Rock (if a bit more surreal) but that might only have been because of #TinaFey, #JaneKrakowski, and #RobertCarlock? After watching it all I can’t really picture anyone else playing Kimmy, Titus, Lillian, Jacqueline, Xanthippe, The Reverand… I thought the first season was the best; the last three seasons, while still humorous could get a little tedious and problematic (the yellow face, even though Titus’s play seemed awesome, the depiction of Jackie Lynn’s Lakota family and ancestors though that seemed to make fun of her more than them, and the men’s rights activits near the end, the whole Redskins thing) Kimmy’s attempts at slang (“Urethra!” “Hashbrown No Filter”) Titus’ use of the photobooth for his headshots (Genius), the cuts to things (like in 30 Rock) that helped or contradicted what was being said or to show what was in Kimmy’s head (Beekman’s tiny pony/horse, the flashbacks to the bunker, Kimmy’s Happy Place) were funny. Titus’ #PeenoNoir song/video, the Lemonade parody, alternate lives, and the Party Monster eps were 👌🏼; the talking backpack was a liiiiitle weird, the -$1 from the ATM, Mikey’s grandma being a puppet and him claiming to be ¼th marionette 😂 , the punny nicknames Titus calls Kimmy. Buckley just seems to disappear for like a season? the amount of cameos and guest stars oh my!: #AmySedaris, #GilBirmingham, Tim Blake Nelson, #AnnaCamp (omg that role!), David Cross, Josh Charles, #LisaKudrow (coasterhead😆) #DaveedDiggs, #GregKinnear, Bobby Moynihan, Busy Phillips, #MartinShort, Richard Kind, #DeanNorris, #LauraDern, Maya Rudolph, #RayLiotta, Jon Bernthal, #RonanFarrow and So many more.
