Veronica Lake (I Married a Witch, Sullivan's Travels)—her look is so iconic they used her as a visual model for jessica rabbit in who framed roger rabbit and a bunch of other femme fatale types in cartoons and live action alike. i didnt think i liked women and then i saw her in sullivans travels and said gee i hope this doesnt awaken anything in me! every role ive seen her in she absolutely oozes an aura of "i know people would ask me to step on them" and her EYES bro every photo ive looked at for this submission its like shes piercing thru time and space to judge me <3
Eartha Kitt (Anna Lucasta, St. Louis Blues)—My friend and I have a saying: NOBODY is Eartha Kitt. A thousand have tried, and they've all come up empty and will continue to do so. Everyone knows her for something: from "Santa Baby" to Yzma in Emperor's New Groove to Catwoman to making Lady Bird Johnson cry for the Vietnam War. She was a master of comedy and sex, an extremely vocal activist, and she aged like fine wine... I honestly don't know what I can say about her that hasn't already been said, so I'll stick to linking all my propaganda. Like what else do you want from me. She was iconic at everything she ever did. Literally name another. How can anyone even think of her and not want to absolutely drown?
This is round 5 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Veronica Lake:
Her HAIR, her FIGURE, her VOICE, the way she wore LEATHER AND SANG SONGS FOR NO REASON.
I don't believe there's a person on earth who can watch Veronica Lake in I Married A Witch and not be struck by how gorgeous she is. She had that youthful wonder about her that almost every Hollywood starlet was trying to achieve. Her hairstyle (peekaboo bangs) became an iconic Hollywood style after she popularized it, and made her signature look all the more suggestive. Also, witches are tumblrs favorite!
ICONIC hair sweep
The US government literally begged her to change her hairstyle because it was TOO HOT to handle and women who copied it were getting their hair caught in machinery
Her hairstyle was so iconic and popular that the war department had to come out with a PSA instructing lady ironworkers with ways they could pin their hair up to avoid it getting bound in machinery. [https://veteranlife.com/military-history/veronica-lake/]
She played a lot of femme fatale roles but my favorite is Sullivan’s Travels opposite Joel McRea, which is a comedy. She became famous for her hair style at the time—she wore it long and parted on one side so it would fall over half her face in a very sexy way. They called it a peek-a-boo I think. You’ve definitely seen Bugs Bunny dressed up like her, so I think if she’s being honored in such a way she’s very cool.
look at her
she's GORGEOUS in her little witch outfits that she wore for promos and also in the oversized coats and pajamas she wore throughout the movie...she's got RANGE
My Grandpa supposedly dated her in high school, he drove her to school in his car every day. This is legend in the family.
She has gorgeous hair, has got the smouldering look over the shoulder down PAT, and is just drop-dead gorgeous too!
Schizophrenic icon, popularized the peekaboo hairdo long before Jessica Rabbit
She’s just so prettyyyyy
So much hot in such a tiny package. She was no more than 5 feet tall, and some reports claim as small as 4'9"
If you picture a femme fatale in your head, almost certainly Veronica Lake had a hand in shaping the image you think of. She came to embody the look of the noir leading lady as well as the sound and the performance. Certified Noir Baddie.
Eartha Kitt:
"A hot vintage woman who was not just known for her voice, beauty, poise, and presence, but also her unapologetic ways of speaking about how she was mistreated in the show business as a girl who grew up on cotton fields in South Carolina in the 1930s through the 1940s coming to Broadway first and then Hollywood."
"Have you watched her sing?? Have you seen her face?? Have you heard her talk?? How could you not fall instantly in love. She makes me incoherent with how hot she is."
"She can ACT she can SING she can speak FOUR LANGUAGES she is a GODDESS!!! Although she is (rightfully) remembered for her singing, TV appearances (Catwoman my beloved), and later film roles, her early appearances in film are no less impressive or noteworthy!! She’s an amazing actress with so much charisma in every role. She was also blacklisted from Hollywood for 10 years for criticizing the Johnson administration/Vietnam War, so. Iconic. Also Orson Welles apparently called her “the most exciting woman in the world.”
"She had such a stunning, remarkable appearance, like she could tear you to shreds with just a glance- but the most undeniable part of her hotness was her voice, and it makes sense that it's what most people nowadays know her for. Nothing encapsulates the sheer magnetism of her singing better than this clip of her and Nat King Cole in St. Louis Blues, she pops in at 2:49. Also I know it's post-1970 but her song that was cut from Emperor's New Groove is likely to make you feel Feelings."
Even with as racist as Hollywood was in the 1950s and 60s, Eartha Kitt STILL managed to have a thriving career. She also once had a threesome with Paul Newman and James Dean, and called out LBJ over the Vietnam War so hard that it made First Lady Johnson cry. Eartha Kitt was talented, sexy, and a total badass activist.

pride hair overlays!
happy pride month! if clothes and accessories aren't enough, here are some overlays for your blorbs to show their pride in their hair!
there are three sets of overlays (full, split and peekaboo) for @raccoonium's shaded textures, including all their newer hairstyles and all of mine! each one has a long and a short version, so the flag doesn't get cut off on short hairs.
and also, two sets of shaved sides textures for undercuts and mohawks! one version layers over the hair's scalp texture and one under it, they both have their ups and downs so try them both out. the texture is based on @simandy's Julian hair, so thanks to both of you for the generous tou!
the slots are the same as Raccoonium's and my existing overlays, the occult slots require CASUnlocks to use on human sims: ~ full head: occult eye socket ~ split: acne ~ peekaboo: occult eye lid or face scar ~ sides: occult mouth or face mole you don't get anything out of layering them, but if you want both versions of peekaboo/sides to avoid conflicts there are merged versions of both with a smaller file size too.

What if, Rhea's hair changes by the time they fight with Gaea? Like, when they're down in Tartarus something happens or whatever and her hair changes to blond like Poseidonas (or half blond, you know, like a peekaboo hairstyle or something). I got this question when I was re-reading, and in chapter 34, where they are on Circe's island, Aidoneus says “You know with the way you’re dressed now, you look like a father and a daughter”. So.. Yeah.. That's just a question that popped into my head and wouldn't leave for a few days, so I finally decided to ask.
I am actually fond of Rhea's black hair and green eyes, so that won't really change.
But honestly ROR Poseidon and Rhea are more alike in terms of personality, like she got PJO Poseidon looks but is 50% ROR Poseidon personality 💀
Her way of looking down at people for example, the way she glares, when she is angry her eyes turn the same shade of blue as ROR Poseidon.
There is still another shade her eyes turn into but I still didn't get to the point where her eyes will turn that shade.
Also sometimes physically from the right angle they look alike and I mean a bit like Poseidon in these two pics.
She has the same bored look 90% of the time when she isn't talking to the people she likes, and the same look down and glare look.
So she has more ROR Poseidon in her than PJO Poseidon. The only thing Rhea got is PJO Poseidon coloring 😂

BTVS “Every Outfit” “Seeing Red” Xx
First and foremost … there is an obvious omission from this post. I will not be drawing a certain bathrobe look, the scene is very triggering for me and we’ll just leave it at that.
The symbolism of Buffy’s hair gradually getting lighter as she slowing is coming back to herself is a great touch! That first pulled back updo is such a classics Buffy hairstyle I LIVE!!!
That’s first looked with the deep cherry red leather jacket is so chic, same about its Rubin with the buzz saw!!!
The second look is one that I couldn’t remember, probably because the scene it’s in is so rage inducing! The simple black shirt with the little peekaboo detail is so classy but also very sexy!!!
That fur-lined jackets is so divine that I am so MAD it is only on screen for less that 30 seconds, it should have been used for a longer more poignant scene!!!
That last look is so super cozy with the hat, peacoat and turtleneck sweater, a perfect girly look to wear when beating a misogynist!!!

i just got my hair done, i added the photo of it 🤭 but i figured i’d talk about my head of hair -canons. see what i did there (i’m sorry)
feel free to share yours, please don’t be mean about mine, thanks!!
wolves (and partners):
asher has blonde hair but his natural hair is light brown and his dye job is grown out.
babe has vibrantly colored hair…very specific i know /s
darlin has whiteish shoulder length hair with black peekaboo underneath so when they put it half up-half down (almost all the time) it shows
david has never and probably will never dye his hair, it’s a dark brown
milo has medium brown hair, and tried dying it a few times in high school but his mom hated it
sweetheart changes their hairstyle frequently but wears braids often and adds (government workplace approved) color
damn:
lasko has almost icey white hair
damien’s hair is black, fl recommended dying the ends bright red but he very much declined
gavin’s hair has pink and blue ends…no questions
huxley has long black braids
vamps:
vincent had dyed his hair dark dark red when he was being emo….but eventually let his (naturally black) hair grow out
sam hasn’t thought about dying his hair because it “goes against his aesthetic”, his natural hair is light brown
alexis has (dyed) black hair
quinn had white-ish hair (not the same color as darlin but i can’t explain the difference)
…and guy:
guy has fluffy brown hair :)
if you read all that, thank you for entertaining my silly little mind, and don’t mention the lack of blond people

Hello there im participating in your new game ♡♡♡♡
Name : Asteria
Pronouns: She/her
Assumptions: You've got a fiesty personality and you love dark feminine aesthetic
Question: What will be my age when I meet my future spouse and How does my future spouse look like? (If possible please do my reading with the view that I'm queer)
Thank you ♥️ 😊 💓
Hi! Thank you for playing the game and letting me know that you are queer so I can accommodate you. Yes, your assumptions are accurate.
Okay I am getting from the pendulum that you will meet your future spouse in your early to mid 20's and if you're past that age range you could have already met your future spouse in passing or they're your friend and you're just not dating them yet.
By the way this has nothing to do with what you asked but I feel like your future spouse says whatever they want without thinking of the consequences basically very blunt so think Sag mercury but doesn't have to be in that specific placement. (Not shy at all)
Your future spouse is on the lighter side like fair to olive skin tone
They will have lighter eyes like shades of blue and grey
they are most likely blonde but I also pulled red for hair so they may have gone through a period in time where their hair was dyed red. (They are showing me specifically a red peekaboo hairstyle
Like this almost is what spirit showed me but with red underneath for the peekaboo part of the red hair
Your future spouse is on the shorter side and their body is round and soft so they are on the plumper side but I also got fit so they may have lost the weight and gotten fit over time.
They have tattoos but mostly on the arms and abdomen
For style they like darker looks but I pulled three possible styles for them so I feel like their style changes between the three depending on were they are going and who they will be around.

|| 17.03.2024, Sunday. ||
I'm going to the hairdresser next week to 'touch up' on my layers, & I've been thinking about whether I should also dye my hair since I'll already be there -- it's been years since I last dyed it, so I'm really longing to have it a lil more colourful again. I'm interested in 'peekaboo highlights', they look like they'd be fun to incorporate in hairstyles. I'm a little unsure whether it would actually fit with my layers though, so I'm thinking to test it with a black hair tint first; I feel black is a good colour as it's both a little easier to hide it in case I don't end up liking it, & also because it makes it easier to imagine other colours on.
(pictures are from february -- this is the first time I'm sharing a lil of what I look like on here, so be nice pls. :) First was on my way home from work (I took it in front of a window which was full of spiderwebs - it belongs to a vacant house, I don't think anyone was in there in quite a few years -, if you're wondering why it's looking a bit odd), second was on my way grocery shopping. The late evening & night pictures are from two seperate walks. 🌙)

missavagardner:
In the early 1940s, American film actress Veronica Lake changed her trademark peekaboo hairstyle to encourage women working in war industry factories to adopt more practical, safer hairstyles. Veronica Lake was a popular American film actress who enjoyed both popular and critical acclaim, especially for her femme fatale roles in film noir with Alan Ladd during the 1940s. A stray lock of her shoulder-length blonde hair during a publicity photo shoot led to her iconic hairstyle which hid one eye, and was widely imitated.
