I realized why Regina Berry bothers me so much—and no, it's not because of Turnabout Big Top.
She looks like Dahlia Hawthorne.
She also looks like Pearls.
Like Dahlia, she's involved with older men. Like Pearls, she's used for personal revenge. Like both, she has lost people she loves. Yet for so much of her screentime, she remains entirely ignorant.
She looks like a villain. She looks like a victim. She looks like a little girl. Perhaps she is these things. One of them. Two of them. Maybe even all of them, at least at some points, to some characters.
I don't even have a conclusion here. I just find her story tragic. Over and over, she's betrayed by the people of the circus. Over and over, she finds her heart broken. And like Dahlia—and unlike Pearls—I'm not sure she has a good support system to help her through it.

Bridge to turnabout doodles
