Dome was right. This is both a good ending (the gang stays together!) and a very, very sad ending.
Somkid ruined everything he had because he believed his father didn't care about him, and he arrived at that impression because he saw affection only when it was presented in the form of wealth. He killed his father over it. He destroyed his bond with Home over it (one-sided though it may have been). And then he learns that all that he did was in reaction to a false premise.
Somkid never understood his father and his attempts to quietly set things right. Gramps didn't understand that sometimes we do need to make our meaning explicit and died to the worst betrayal. It's just sad all around.
I'm happy for Home and Peach and Pangpang and Kan, I really am. But man. I also hurt.

I did not think I'd be laughing and weeping so much while watching the finale of Peaceful Property because the premise of the episode felt it's gonna be heart breaking, but it was such a good watch. It was warm and hectic and chaotic and loving and so so kind.
I loved it all. I don't care that it wasnt a "bl" because it was so queer without even being a bl. I loved it.
Anyway, that aside, going into the specifics of the series itself.
I know that there are mixed reactions to the series as a whole. I get a lot of them. Especially with regards to the way the class disparity was handled. It definitely left a lot to be desired and it wasn't all good, but in my understanding, the thing they've shown time and again and established it till the end, has been the affect of greed. The underlying issue that had all three Somkid, Somphorn and Yai doing the things they did and being the villains they were was because of their greed. Something that pushed them to be awful and murderous. The conclusion leading up to them 'paying' for it by getting imprisoned while Home ensures that the promises that they made to the community early on were kept as of last week. I never really expected anything bigger than this coming out of the show as such. I would've loved to see a lot more dismantling, a lot more of Home's family being a lot more scrutininsed and hopefully do something about paying back communities they had hurt, but I don't think anything they would've done would necessarily have satisfied that part of the narrative anyway, so I'm kind of okay where it came till.
In terms of Peach letting go of the opportunity at Chiang Mai is something I'm pretty sure all of us saw it coming. This is another part of the ending which worked for me, that I see doesn't sit well with some others. Again, I see where the dissonance is coming from. For me at least, it makes sense because when we first saw Peach, he had one other friend (acquaintance (?)) in Best and was cooking for the shrine and barely making it through with the ghosts haunting him. As much as they played it for laughs with him saying he doesn't want to go to Chiang Mai because he is not going to understand the ghosts, I feel it's a way to combat the loneliness as well. For so long he has been going through life being alone except for Pang Pang, who as we've seen is pretty loyal to her brother. The fact that someone chose to be around him especially since knowing the ghosts thing is important to him. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but just like Home was looking for a 'home', so was Peach and this chaotic group of five is exactly what he needed. The chef's table is a happy edition. We see it in almost every episode, bringing the ghost hunting and cooking and taking care of people go hand in hand for him. It was not understanding that connection which didn't make his attempts at the shrine effective but got more particular as he started working on it.
Maybe I'm just easily pleased by things but although it wasn't all beautifully wrapped up, it was something that was still interesting, fun and exciting and I'm happy for where it is.

After telling Home he forgave him and begging him to come back to eat the food Peach made him, the last thing Peach said to Home before Home returned to his body was a plea for Home to come back for Pang.
Tumblr media
Home isn't just a sugar daddy.
Tumblr media
He is Pang's best friend.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Home and Pang thought they lost their best friend, these normally loud and theatrical characters became quiet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because they are the same.
Tumblr media
Which is why Home noticed what was happening with Pang even when her own brother didn't.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
People mistake Home and Pang's behavior for silliness and dismiss their contributions, but Home and Pang actually try really hard all the time to fix problems even if their approach is out of the norm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They are besties and siblings.
Tumblr media
And Peach knows that Pang has already lost enough family.
Tumblr media
So Peach made one last attempt to get through to Home by reminding him that even if he didn't want to come back for Peach, he had to come back for their little sister.
Tumblr media
Pang and Home understand each other without having to speak a word.
Tumblr media
They get each other when nobody else does.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Peach knows that.
Tumblr media
So even if the boys were actually upset with each other, they don't want to see Pang upset.
Tumblr media
She just wants the best for them.
Tumblr media
And they want what's best for her.
Tumblr media
Pang has two brothers who love her dearly.
Tumblr media
So much, in fact, that they both came back for her.

Listen. I know it probably means nothing. And I'm definitely overthinking this. But can someone explain why this scene is haunting my existence and breaking my heart!?!
Tumblr media
Like the framing- does it mean something that Pang, Kan and Home are on one side and Peach is on the other?
I don't know why my brain jumped to conclusions at this framing, but there's clearly still enough space for all 4 of them to be on the same side of the column and not hit their heads (or some safety issue like that).
Does this have something to do with Peach wanting to sit next to Home but Kan had that space so he took the next closest spot. But there is still a big barrier they have to cross to get there? (Because ouch, the romantic symbolism of that! They keep saying it's not a BL, and yet the frekin metaphors) there's still something holding them back from being too close?
Does Peach have a bigger secret we don't know about??
Or is it because Peach might actually die at the end of the series (don't make that happen, istg P'Dome!) because it's almost like he's taking care of them from the other side (he got them all food and woke Home up and made sure all 3 of them are fed. Food is definitely his love language 🥺).
Or have I just gone crazy about the minor details of this show, they just decided it was fun framing to ISOLATE ONE CHARACTER! Who's to say ig...

It's the penultimate episode, I've got some words for P'Dome that he'll never get to hear but most importantly I'm here to congratulate Peach and Home on not breaking up this episode. So let's get to it!
1
We begin with Home being sad looking at their ad while thinking about his gramps trying to teach him the meaning of "home"
Tumblr media
But while Pangpang puts it plainly into words
Tumblr media
Home is apparently so dense that he still hasn't figured it out
Tumblr media
We've been seeing quite clearly, and Home seems to be aware on a subconcious level at least, that Peach and the rest of the squad have become his home. But well, Home the man, clearly put all his character points into cuteness leaving none for intelligence so I guess we'll have to wait for the last (TT) episode for him to finally get it.
2
Tumblr media
Peach has gotten to know Home very well. So of course he can tell that there's something up with his platonic? boyfriend. (on the first watch i thought this was him fishing for "Home is so sad that you're leaving"-validation)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's also totally definitely not at all worried about Home. I'd say acting isn't Peach's strong suit but he did quite well with the fuckery they put on so I guess it's a case of the old can't-lie-when-it-comes-to-love.
Tumblr media
Despite his utter non-worry he still delegates Home-care to Kan which kind of implies that he sees it as his job to take care of him. (and shows how much he is worried and cares about Home but that's not really news at this point)
3
Tumblr media
Even Kan is teasing them about their relationship now.
4
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sure, their fight turned out to be somewhat staged to distract evil lawyer but the sentiments are nontheless quite real. The familiar territory of fighting allows them to finally speak out their feelings about what happened at the end of last episode. And, surprise, surprise, both are hurt by the idea of being left by the other, of ultimately not meaning that much to each other. (as I said, abandonment trauma rearing its ugly head) At this point, regardless of their relationship status maybe they should just get married so they'll finally feel some security in their importance to each other. (this is almost definitely not a good solution to this sort of problem irl, of course)
5
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's a good thing they've been perfecting their nonverbal communication over the course of the show. It comes in quite handy in situations like this.
6
Tumblr media
Surrounded by the betrayal from his blood family, Home knows there's someone he can always trust.
Tumblr media
Peach. And the rest of the gang. His real family. (+ the friends they made along the way)
7
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This scene was honestly the cutest shit. The way he goes from his legs raised in happiness, to lowerd in disappointment, to swinging with giddieness. The way he's hiding under his duvet to secretly talk to his boyfriend on the phone. Ridiculously cute. This man is so in love. And he shows it like a stereotypical 12 y/o girl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Peach isn't any better with his arms on display and that fondness in his face.
8
Peach really doesn't want Home to go back to America.
Tumblr media
But while he's not getting that reassurance for now (I can't bring myself to believe he'll actually leave. Not after everything, not when the reason for his exile has been resolved, not when he's finally found the meaning of "home" so his grandpa would have allowed him to come back, anyway. And how ironic btw, that he had to come home first and face the consequences of his actions, in order to find his meaning of "home"), at least he gets some surprisingly clear real-talk on Home's feelings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
9
Tumblr media
Peach is smelling the bs on uncle and he's not looking to become a widower. He already watched Home die once, he's really not inclined to repeat that experience.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately he let's Home convince him it'll be fine (and unfortunately Home has retained a lot of that naivete that he displayed when he first met Kan) so he's left behind to worry about Home's safety.
10
Tumblr media
This plan from the uncle is absolutely evil. To not only kill his nephew but make people, possibly even Home himself, believe that Peach is the one who killed him? To destroy his nephew's most important person in the process, not only worldly by framing him for murder, but also spiritually by having someone (Home!) die from his cooking? I'm sure to Kid this was mostly a matter of hitting two flies with one stone but whether intentional or not this plan is clearly designed for maximum cruelty. And it's made even more cruel by the love and trust Home and Peach clearly have for each other, plain for everyone, even the evil uncle, to see. But he doesn't even grant Home the knowledge of being loved at the point of his death.
Stop trying to bury our gays you pos uncle!
11
Tumblr media
As a palate cleanser, please enjoy this image of the whole happy family. Including the dads, their daughter + her wife, and ... Suradech!
Lesbian Corner
Tumblr media
Kan has been spending so much time with Pangpang that she's internalising her speech patterns.
Tumblr media
And THIS is her reaction when Peach calls her out on it. Someone's in luuurve!

So, I’m going to hold on Joong’s comment that main characters from GMMTV series DO NOT DIE and go into the finale of Peaceful Property with the mind frame that HomePeach will survive and live happily ever after (they also better not kill my man Suradech - literally the only good man in that household so far)

Can we talk about the fact that Home was rushing over to Peach to apologize twice now but failed to reach his destination (in time)??

wait wait wait, okay so. we are supposed to feel heart warmed that the grandpa did this special thing for Somkid BUT NEVER FREAKING TOLD HIM EVEN INTO HIS MIDDLE AGE. wat
also, hey look, you didn't have to become a murderous psychopath if you just understood your father's withholding tendencies better.
how is this not being framed as a cautionary tale about not communicating and withholding affection from your children?

it absolutely fucking kills me to think that he's saying this at very possibly the exact moment home is nearly dying in a car crash trying to get to him. yes that is home's ghost knocking at the door right after peach unblocks him but it's MY ghost clawing at the screen going oh my god. he doesn't even KNOW. nobody here KNOWS
