The last night of the 2015 Phillips Backyard Weekender. The beer station in the first photo had moving gears - so great! I got there too late for Weird Party, but Northcote was amazing. Matthew Goud has such incredible stage presence, you can’t look anywhere else. Built to Spill was great, and Jon and Roy, of course pulled off an awesome set. I’d seen Dan Mangan before, he’s always so pleasant to see. But last night he played some new tracks off his new album, Clubs Meds with Blacksmith. And that’s who really stole the night for me, Blacksmith’s Gordon Grdina. When you can pull off 5 minute long solos that include beating your strings with a violin bow you know you’ve got something good. 

Dan Mangan’s encore of Robots had all of the audience singing with him, and was the perfect finish for the night. 10/10 will go again, but I’ll definitely wear better shoes.

Last weekend I finally made it out to some tap houses for the end of Philly beer week. The first one is consciousness stream IPA by local 44/ manayunk brewing. The second is from saucony creek. It's a Belgian double IPA.
