PAX Australia 2015 Day 1 Wrap up
They never knew what hit them
PAX Australia 2015 had a roaring start, with a plethora of games to play and a multitude of lines to enjoy. With one day down and two to go, I have decided to put up a brief recap of today’s momentous events.
The Another-Castle Community has been in fine form, typified by regular meet ups with community members throughout the day. It was an absolute pleasure seeing a horde of people wearing the Another-Castle T-Shirt, demonstrating to the world our dominance as a gaming community. It is fantastic to know that a group of like-minded people are only a Whatsapp message away, as seen by the various games played together and tournaments entered. For the record, Another-Castle members cannot train Amiibos well, as demonstrated by their less than successful performance in the Super Smash Bros. Amiibo tournament. However, we are quite adept at playing Joust, which is one of the community’s favourite games at the show for the second year in the running. It is always heart-warming to see the strength of our community showcased at events like PAX.
null Meanwhile, the A-C crew consisting of Tam, Kaes, Danny and Dave roamed the show floor interviewed developers, conducted vox pops and captured gameplay footage. We took plenty of footage of random people walking which will take pride of place in our eventual B-roll. We conducted two interviews, one with Team Cherry, the team behind Hollow Knight and the other with Phase Three Interactive, creators of Defect. Both interviews provided an interesting snapshot into indie development, with it being a great opportunity to talk to two Australian developers, who both ran successful Kickstarter campaigns with games that showcase refreshing and innovative game mechanics. Definitely check out both games if you get the chance, and keep an eye out for when our interviews with the developers hit the site.
null Three games that stood out for me personally aside from the two we interview, and ones that I would highly recommend people play if they have the chance over the next two days are; Deathstairs, FAST Racing Neo and Unravel. Death Stair has so far been the biggest surprise of the show personally; a chaotic multiplayer game which is reminiscent of the finest 3v1 Mario Party minigames. Whilst only in its Alpha build, and currently on Kickstarter, Deathstairs is brilliant in its simplicity and is definitely one to watch. FAST Racing Neo in part fulfills my F-Zero cravings with an element of Ikaruga’s polarity shifting thrown in for good measure whilst Unravel is an intuitive puzzle platformer that also ticks every box in regards to aesthetics.
null The excitement has only just begun. Stay tuned in to both our site and social media apparatus over the coming two days as Another-Castle continues to take PAX by storm. Not to mention our post-PAX content, which will revolve around all our brilliant footage captured over the three days.
Special Thanks go out to both our Community, who we would not have a site without and Danny Field, our tireless cameraman who has made all our coverage of PAX possible.

MSY Technology Custom Stand Wows the Crowds at PAX 2015
ExpoNet have successfully designed and constructed a high impact custom stand for MSY Technology at the recent PAX 2015 Australia event. The eye-catching custom stand utilised every facet of the ExpoNet offering including bold graphics, rigged custom constructed features and signage, coloured lighting effects, custom constructed display feature structures as well as furniture and audiovisual equipment.
The big budget stand attracted thousands of visitors during the Penny Arcade Exhibition (PAX 2015) this year. The exhibition build itself has been on the ExpoNet calendar since its arrival on Australian shores. PAX events began in Washington and have grown exponentially since 2004 and the shows are now held in Australia annually. The event presented a varied and interesting format for attendees combining concerts with console free play, hand held gaming lounge, an Omegathon bracket game tournament, panel discussions, PC area, and table top games area in amongst access to the exhibition hall that housed hundreds of exhibitors.
Exhibitor feedback from MSY Technology tells of the expectation of a strong return on investment and the excellent exposure for the brand attributed to the custom stand design and the presence of their direct target audience attending the show. Bee Tran, Marketing Officer at MSY said,
“We appreciate the time and commitment you made to build up the MSY stand, one of the best stands this year at PAX. Your ideas, energy and enthusiasm have exceeded our expectation and resulted in a spectacular stand that satisfied not only us but also our partners. We are confident that everyone that was there, at our stand, understood all your hard-work of manufacturing this highly detailed and outstanding MSY show.”
As a multi award-winning event supplier with over 35 years’ experience, ExpoNet excels in providing a complete solution for organisers’ every requirement from initial design to onsite delivery of events. For more information on ExpoNet’s custom stand solutions see:
