WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — The man who stole a bronze Jackie Robinson statue that was cut off at the ankles and found days later smoldering in a trash can in a city park in Kansas is going to spend about 15 years in prison, although most of that time is related to a burglary that happened a few days after the January statue heist.

A judge sentenced Ricky Alderete Friday on three different cases that he said in court stemmed from his addiction to fentanyl.

The League 42 youth baseball league plans to unveil a replacement statue of Robinson crafted from the original mold Monday at a park in Wichita, Kansas. The city was shocked when the statue was cut from its base in January, leaving only the statue's feet behind. The league that primarily serves low-income youth is named after Robinson’s uniform number with the Brooklyn Dodgers, with whom he broke the major leagues’ color barrier in 1947.

Firefighters found burned remnants of the statue five days later while responding to a trash can fire at another park about 7 miles (11.27 kilometers) away.

Alderete pleaded guilty to the theft. He was sentenced to 18 months and ordered to pay $41,500 restitution for stealing the statue. He got the most time for an aggravated burglary that happened Feb. 1 that carried a sentence of 13.5 years in prison.

“I let fentanyl take over me and made a lot of poor decisions. I am not going to deny that. I never meant to hurt anybody,” he said in court Friday. “I am embarrassed, I’m ashamed. Whatever you do today I accept. I am ready for that. I believe I am where I am supposed to be right now because at the rate I am going, I might have been dead.”

After the original statue was stolen, donations to replace it rolled in, including $100,000 from Major League Baseball. Former New York Yankees manager Joe Torre and Cy Young award winner CC Sabathia are expected to attend Monday's unveiling.

The bronze cleats that were left behind when the original statue was stolen are now on display at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Missouri.

Robinson played for the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro Leagues before joining the Brooklyn Dodgers, paving the way for generations of Black American ballplayers. He is considered not only a sports legend but also a civil rights icon. Robinson died in 1972.

F1 in America is and always will be cringy and thats just part of the experience.

Many of us were sitting down or standing up on an exciting Sunday afternoon when we F1 fans collectively saw the cringe-fest that was Will. I. Am and LL Cool J's star-studded introductions of twenty of the best drivers in the world.

And as we were watching and cringing and closing our eyes and opening them because we were getting some serious secondhand embarrassment (at least I was,) we collectively all asked ourselves why this was happening and was the Fanfare necessary. 

Among with backlash from Twitter, and even some drivers speaking up about how unnecessary and distracting it was to do these introductions, many people wondered why the promoters and event organizers would choose to do something like that, especially on race day. 

So, why did that happen, and why was it so cringy?

The simple answer is money. I think to those who know and may not already know that any sport in America is highly commercialized and starts not with the teams or the sport itself but the idolization of those who operate in it. It has always been this way, even with sports outside the united states.

For instance, I bet most people could care less about the stats for the Kansas City Chiefs or The Cleveland Browns. Still, they know who Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Joe Burrow are, or they could tell you that Lebron James plays for the Lakers and Stephen Curry plays for the Golden state warriors. Still, they don't know their positions or stats, but they could tell you their jersey number, what kind of shoes they prefer, their latest Instagram post, and who they are currently seeing. It happens often.

So why does this happen?

In sports, especially in American sports, it is not enough to be good at the sport. You have to be the best, and you have to be likable. That starts with your online presence, how the fan base perceives you, and how others perceive the sport. It is simply not enough to attend a sporting event and be entertained. It is a performance from the time you, the paying attendee, walk into that sporting event until you leave.

That's why they have halftime shows at basketball and football games; they have professional cheerleaders, crowd participation events, and mini-games on the sidelines of Major and Minor league baseball Innings. These entertainment tactics ensure that people have a good time and want to return.

So why does this happen in F1 when it comes to America?

Fanfare and Fanservice. Events in America, as I've stated before, are highly commercialized. That's how it is. And, because America is so big and the interest is so varied, organizations and promoters are left with having to find a way to appeal to bigger audiences. But, in addition to that, interest in things peaks and then declines drastically. And because of this, one of their highly effective tactics is to induce this feeling of FOMO.

" If you're not in Miami this weekend, where are you? Oh, you weren't in Austin this weekend, then where were you? Oh, you're not going to the race in Vegas? I'm sad for you."

Fanfare and the Fear of Missing out is an effective way to sell tickets, and because the United States only experiences three races as of this year, and the continent of North America in total experiences five races, if you're willing and have money to travel to Mexico and Canada, there are not a lot of opportunities to see these races in person, granted if they even have a passport (which is a conversation for another day.)

In addition, you have Drive to Survive on Netflix, which has gotten more people into the sport, especially in America, and in my opinion, has helped pave the way to getting Miami and Las Vegas on the schedule. In addition, the show has given newer fans a glimpse into the fast-moving world of F1, even on an overly dramatic scale. And to some extent, they expect that type of drama and scale when they go to these races. So, therefore, the Fanfare has to be bigger and better than the last to ensure that the sport can continue to become popular in America. 

So the organizers use big names like LLCoolJ and Will.I.Am, and they invite celebrities like Tom Cruise, Vin Diesel, and the cast of Fast and Furious; they have had companies that invite influencers who have nothing to do with the sport, trying to get as much publicity on the event so that the rest of America has this feeling of wanting to be where the action is taking place.

For comparison, This is the same reason why Beyonce or Taylor Swift can sell their concert tickets at astronomically high prices because you are not paying to go to a concert, but rather the experience of seeing them in the flesh in real-time, even if your tickets are not great, and you were in the nose bleeds the entire time, you were there and got to see it. Which is the same logic promoters are operating off of for these races.

Now back to the obvious,

Was the Fanfare with the introductions, at that moment, necessary? No. Honestly, it was just poor planning. The time to do something like that would have been at the drivers' parade or any other time other than race day, but it is interesting because so many people want the Fanfare to be around the race, big Sunday race day, which in America is more on par with NASCAR. Not saying that the race isn't one to have Fanfare over, but the race weekend technically starts on Thursday with the press, so there were potentially other opportunities to engage in Fanfare all weekend. 

Now, will this backlash affect how other American races will go this year? Probably not. But I hope that in any event that it's just a lesson in what not to do on a race day, and hopefully, next year, we will get a different format.

In a segment last week, Laura Ingraham could barely contain her glee when she announced that Harrison Butker had decided to venture into politics: a “move sure to drive the liberals crazy”.

Butker, for those who aren’t aware, is a kicker with the Kansas City Chiefs – who are famous in non-sporty circles for being the team that Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, plays for. As well as being the highest-paid kicker in the NFL and the owner of a very impressive beard, Butker is what a polite person might call “traditional” and a more direct person might call “Taliban-adjacent”. He essentially thinks women should stay at home making sandwiches for their husbands and looking after their kids. In May, the athlete caused a stir when gave a commencement speech at Benedictine College, a Catholic private liberal arts school, espousing these views. In the same speech, Butker also denounced “dangerous gender ideologies”, called Pride month a “deadly sin”, and rattled off various other conservative talking points.

Butker’s Benedictine speech caused enormous backlash but, predictably, it also made him a hero on the right. No longer was he just a guy who got paid millions of dollars to play ball, he was a fighter, valiantly opening up a new front in the never-ending culture war. Sales of his jersey surged.

Now it seems Butker plans on riding his newfound notoriety all the way to the White House. Don’t worry, he hasn’t announced a campaign for president yet – though one imagines the thought has crossed his mind – but he has decided to dip his toes into the murky world of political financing.

Over the weekend, the kicker established a political action committee called Upright Pac, aimed at getting more Christians to vote. “We’re seeing our values under attack every day. In our schools, in the media, and even from our own government,” the website explains. “But we have a chance to fight back and reclaim the traditional values that have made this country great. That’s why UPRIGHT PAC was founded.”

Butker announced the Pac shortly after he officially endorsed the far-right Missouri senator Josh Hawley for re-election. Hawley is the guy who raised a fist in solidarity to protesters during January 6 and was then filmed fleeing from those protesters when they violently breached the Capitol building. He also can’t stop talking about the “collapse of American manhood” and the supposed crisis of men retreating “into the enclave of idleness and pornography and video games”.

While the Upright Pac website doesn’t explicitly mention Donald Trump, Butker told Ingraham on Thursday that he would be supporting the former president because of his stance on abortion. “I think Donald Trump is the most pro-life president,” Butker said. Which might make things awkward at Kansas City Chiefs socials since Swift endorsed Kamala Harris.

With only weeks to go until the election, Butker’s new Pac is not going to make much difference when it comes to getting Trump elected. But who knows what it might achieve in the future. His decision to mobilize Christian voters via a Pac speaks to a broader issue: the oversized influence of special interest groups and influential individuals in shaping US politics.

Back in 2010, the US supreme court’s controversial Citizens United ruling loosened restrictions on campaign finance law and enabled corporations and special interest groups to spend unlimited money on elections as long as there was no direct coordination with political candidates or parties. This paved the way for Super Pac funding vehicles: basically fancy legal frameworks which enable big (and frequently dark) money to be funnelled into campaigns. Jimmy Carter has called it legalised “bribery”.

Pacs have played an important role in this election cycle. The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (Aipac), for example, has spent more than $100m on federal elections so far this cycle and may have played a large part in unseating Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush – two of Congress’s most vocal critics of Israel’s conduct in Gaza. It also seems to have helped to sustain support for the war: a Guardian analysis published in January found that the members of Congress who were the most supportive of Israel’s campaign in Gaza during the first six weeks of the war were politicians who had benefited from donations from pro-Israel groups like Aipac.

And Aipac is far from the only group toppling politicians. It’s possible Fairshake Pac, a Super Pac backed by the cryptocurrency industry, may have had a role in preventing Katie Porter from advancing in her run for US Senate in California earlier this year. Fairshake, backed by cryptocurrency industry leaders, spent millions in the primary on ads urging cryptocurrency enthusiasts to vote against Porter. Elon Musk, meanwhile, has donated roughly $75m over the last three months to his pro-Trump America Pac.

In short: Butker is in crowded company. Everyone with a chip on their shoulder and some money in their pocket has a Pac these days. If you want to buy friends and influence elections, they’re a must-have.

And while it’s still early days for Butker’s Pac, he certainly seems to have a lot of support. The owner of the Kansas City Chiefs said on Wednesday that he had no issue with his player’s foray into politics. Which is interesting because, when they lean to the left, athletes are often criticized for getting political. Indeed, the very same Laura Ingraham who is so thrilled about Butker’s move into politics memorably told the basketball star LeBron James to keep his political comments to himself and “shut up and dribble” back in 2018. Ingraham had taken umbrage at James discussing the challenges of being Black and a public figure in the US during an ESPN interview. “It’s always unwise to seek political advice from someone who gets paid $100 million a year to bounce a ball,” she snarked.

Butker, meanwhile, gets paid $6.4m a year to play with a football. And I haven’t heard a single person on the right tell him to keep quiet and kick.

Florynce Kennedy

Lawyer and civil rights activist Florynce Kennedy was born in 1916 in Kansas City, Missouri. As an attorney, Kennedy took on high-profile and controversial cases. She was involved with many cases against restrictive abortion laws in New York, and her activism helped pave the way for New York becoming the first state to legalize abortion. Kennedy was a founding member of the National Black Feminist Organization, and helped start the National Organization for Women. In 1976, she published an autobiography, Color Me Flo: My Hard Life and Good Times.

Florynce Kennedy died in 2000 at the age of 84.

Ruby Bridges (1954-Currently Living)

In 1960, a six-year-old African American girl unknowingly desegregated a white elementary school, paving the way for civil rights action in the South.

This is her story.

Ruby Nell Bridges was born on September 8th, 1954, the eldest of five children of Lucille and Abon Bridges, in Tylertown, Mississippi. She grew up on a farm with her parents and grandparents, who were sharecroppers. Her parents relocated to New Orleans when she was two years old in search of better job opportunities.

In 1954, the United States Supreme Court issued its decision in Brown v. The Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas, which ended racial segregation in public schools. Even so, southern states continued to oppose integration. When Ruby was in kindergarten, she was one of many African American students who were chosen to take a test determining whether or not she could attend a white school. 

The test was designed to be particularly difficult so that students would struggle to pass it. Essentially, the plan was that if all of the African American children failed the test, New Orleans schools would be able to remain segregated for a longer period of time. However, Ruby and five other students passed the exam.

The Bridges family lived only five miles from an all-white school, but Ruby attended an all-black segregated school that was several miles away. Her parents were conflicted about sending her to an all-white school. Her father feared for his daughter’s safety, but her mother wanted Ruby to have a better education and better opportunities than her parents were denied.

NAACP officials informed Ruby's parents in 1960 that she had passed the test and would be the only African American child to attend the William Frantz School. Two other students decided not to leave their school at all, and the remaining three were assigned to the all-white McDonough Elementary School.

The school district went so far as to purposefully postpone Ruby's admission until November 14th. Ruby and her mother were escorted to school by four Federal Marshals on November 14th, 1960. They instructed Ruby not to look at the crowd. 

As they approached the school, Ruby was met by a large group of white adults gathered behind barricades, as well as police stationed in front of the school. They hurled objects at Ruby, shouted racial slurs at her, and even expressed death wishes.

Ruby, being young and naïve, initially mistook it for a Mardi Gras parade. “I was really not aware that I was going to a white school; my parents never explained it to me. I stumbled into the crowds of people, and living here in New Orleans and being accustomed to Mardi Gras, the huge celebration that takes place in the city every year, I really thought that’s what it was that day. There was no need for me to be afraid of that.” Ruby states.

Every day, irate protesters, mostly white parents and children, as well as reporters and photographers, gathered outside. The crowd chanted and waved placards while yelling slurs. One sign read: “All I want for Christmas is a clean white school.” And there was a woman holding up a miniature coffin with a black doll inside. It was the only time Ruby was afraid. 

In Ruby's own words, she said:

“That, I would have nightmares about, I would dream that the coffin was flying around my bedroom at night.” 

Ruby spent her first day at school in the principal's office as a result of the chaos caused by angry white parents pulling their children out of school. Dedicated segregationists withdrew their children for good. Ruby had to bring her own lunch to school every day because she was afraid of being poisoned. 

A woman from the crowd would yell out threats about poisoning and lynching Ruby. This was not revealed to her parents until much later. 

All of the white parents eventually withdrew their children from school, and the entire faculty refused to teach Ruby.

The only teacher willing to accept Ruby was Barbara Henry, a white Boston native. For the first year, she was the sole student in the classroom. “We knew we had to be there for each other.” Says Bridges. Ms. Henry was also shunned by the rest of the faculty for agreeing to teach a young black student. 

Ruby ate lunch alone in the classroom because she wasn’t allowed in the cafeteria. She wasn’t allowed to go to recess with the other kids, so she sometimes played with Ms. Henry. The Marshalls even escorted her to the bathroom.

Robert Coles, a white child psychiatrist who had witnessed the events outside the school, volunteered to help Ruby and her family. He would visit the home on a weekly basis to talk to Ruby.

Coles went on to pursue a career studying the effects of school desegregation on children. It was later revealed that one of his relatives had sent Ruby new school clothes that her family could not afford. 

Some families supported Ruby's bravery, and some Northerners sent money to help her family, while others protested throughout the city against them. Her entire family would soon pay the price for their bravery. Her father, Abon, a Korean War veteran, had lost his job as a gas station attendant. Her mother, Lucille, lost her job as a domestic worker, and grocery stores refused to sell food to Lucille to feed her children. Even Ruby’s friends couldn’t come over to play anymore.

The NAACP, which had played an important role in Ruby's case, had advised Ruby's father not to go out and look for work for his own safety. Her sharecropping grandparents, who had lived on their farm for 25 years, were also evicted. And her parents eventually separated. 

“I remember writing to Santa Claus and asking him to give my father’s job back, and that he didn’t have a job because I was going to school. So I guess somehow I did feel some blame for it.”

After an incident in which Ruby was stashing her food in the classroom during lunch because she was tired of eating alone, which resulted in a mouse infestation, Ms. Henry began sitting with Ruby during lunch.

Her eating habits had also changed at home; after Robert informed Ruby's parents about the white heckler outside the school and her threats to poison Ruby, she now only eats packaged food.

Things began to change gradually but steadily over the course of the first year. A small number of white parents allowed their children to return to school. They were initially separated from Ruby. In her own words, “The principal, who was part of the opposition, would take the kids, and she would hide them so that they could never come in contact with me.”  

Ruby was finally allowed to be in a small class with other six-year-old children near the end of the year, thanks to Ms. Henry's persistence. Ruby recalls a little boy saying to her, “My momma said not to play with you because you’re a nigger.”  

“And the minute he said that, it was like everything came together. All the little pieces that I’d been collecting in my mind all fit, and I then understood: The reason why there’s no kids here is because of me, and the color of my skin. That’s why I can’t go to recess. And it’s no Mardi Gras. It all sort of came together: A very rude awakening. I often say today that really was my first introduction to racism.” Bridges says.

She later realized that it was also a perception of the origins of racism. “The way that I was brought up, if my parents had said: ‘Don’t play with them - he’s white, he’s Asian, he’s Hispanic, he’s Indian, he’s whatever - I would not have played with him.” The young boy was merely explaining why he couldn't play with her; he was unaware that he was being racist toward her.

In Ruby’s words, “Which leads me to my point that racism is learned behavior. We pass it on to our kids, and it continues from one generation to the next. That moment proved that to me.”

One day, while being escorted to school, Ruby stopped to face the crowd, which was something she was instructed to do. Ms. Henry later asked her what she said. And Ruby said that she wasn’t talking; she was praying. Ruby would pray for the crowd of people who hated her. She forgot until she was in the midst of the crowd that morning. 

“Please, God, try to forgive those people. Because even if they say those bad things, They don’t know what they’re doing. So you could forgive them, Just like you did those folks a long time ago when they said terrible things about you.” A prayer that she would say before and after school.

By the second year of school, the tension had gradually subsided. There were no protests, and she was in a normal-sized class with mostly white kids, though a few African American kids had joined by then. Eventually, Ms. Henry left William Frantz Elementary, which saddened Ruby. Regardless, they became lifelong friends.

She even adopted Ms. Henry's strong Boston accent and was chastised for it by her new teacher, one of those who had refused to teach her the previous year. 

Every year, an increasing number of black students enrolled at William Frantz. High schools had been desegregated for nearly ten years when Ruby was in her teens, but black and white students still did not mix, and Ruby faced a lot of racial tension throughout high school. 

The South's racist legacy remained strong. Despite being desegregated, her high school was named after a former Confederate general, Francis T. Nicholls. Its sports teams were called the Rebels, and their logo featured a Confederate flag, which black students fought to change. The school was renamed Frederick Douglass High School in the 1990s, and the team is now known as the Bobcats. 

Ruby graduated from high school with no clear career path in mind, but she did know she wanted to leave Louisiana.  

“I was really more focused on how to get out of Louisiana. I knew that there was something more than what I was exposed to right there in my community.”

She applied for jobs as a flight attendant before working as an American Express travel agent for 15 years. During that time, she got to see the world.

In her 30s, she married Malcolm Hall in 1984 and had four sons. She began to feel restless around this time. 

“I was asking myself: ‘What am I doing?’ Am I doing something really meaningful?’ I really wanted to know what my purpose was in life.” She stated. 

In 1993, Ruby’s brother was shot dead on a street in New Orleans, and she took in his four daughters, who also attended William Frantz Elementary. 

In 1995, Robert Coles, Ruby's childhood psychiatrist who was now a Harvard professor, published his children's book, 'The Story of Ruby Bridges,' which reintroduced Ruby to the public eye. 

Ruby's story was never really discussed in New Orleans. She explains in the same way that, for years, people in Dallas didn’t talk about the Kennedy assassination. 

“You have to understand, we didn’t have Black History Month during that time. It wasn’t like I could pick up a textbook and open it up and read about myself.” 

Ruby promoted Coles' book by speaking in schools across the country, and it went on to become a best-seller. In 1998, Disney made a biopic of Ruby Bridges, in which she acted as a consultant. “I think everybody started to realize that me, Ruby Bridges, was actually the same little girl as in the Norman Rockwell painting.” 

The proceeds from the book aided Ruby in establishing her foundation. When she returned her nieces to William Frantz, she noticed a lack of after-school arts programs and decided to start her own. She continued touring schools across the country, telling her story and promoting cultural understanding. 

She recently released a new book, 'This is Your Time,' which tells her story for today's youth. 

After Hurricane Katrina damaged it in New Orleans in 2005, William Frantz was slated for demolition. As a result of Ruby's successful campaign to have the school listed on the National Register of Historic Places, funds were freed up to restore and expand it. In addition, there is a statue of Ruby in the school courtyard. 

Ruby was not aware of Norman Rockwell's 1964 painting of her, 'The Problem We All Live With,' until much later in her life. It is not a faithful recreation of the scene; it is closer to John Steinbeck's eyewitness account in his 1962 book 'Travels with Charley in Search of America,' but, unlike Rockwell's earlier Cherry Americana, it captures the rage and drama: The N-word and “KKK” are scrawled across the wall, along with the splattered tomato behind young Ruby Bridges.

When Barack Obama was elected president, Ruby suggested that the Rockwell painting be hung in the White House to commemorate the event's 40th anniversary. He invited Ruby and her family to its unveiling and even gave her a big hug. 

“It was a very powerful moment,” she says. “As we embraced, I saw people in the room tearing up and realized that it wasn’t just about he and I meeting; it was about those moments in time that came together. And all those sacrifices in between he and I. He then turned to me and said: ‘You know, it’s fair to say that if it had not been for this moment, for you all, I might not be here today.’ That in itself is just a stark reminder of how all of us are standing on someone else’s shoulders. Someone else that opened the door and paved the way. And so we have to understand that we cannot give up a fight, whether we see the fruit of our labor or not. You have a responsibility to open the door to keep this moving forward.” 

Ruby explains that the white population began to leave the area in the middle of the 1960s, partly as a result of the damage caused by Hurricane Betsy in 1965, but also as a result of the district's changing demographics. As a result, William Frantz's student body is now entirely black. 

It is happening right now in New Orleans: "White flight" has effectively resulted in a form of re-segregation in schools across the US, making it one of the city's poorest and most dangerous neighborhoods. 

Ruby now sees this as her next activist battle. 

Ruby Bridges, the six-year-old girl who bravely desegregated William Frantz Elementary, is now a Civil Rights activist who, at the age of 68, is bringing about change through education.

okay now for a tl question: as someone who also dislikes season three, i'm curious to know how you would have liked season 3 to end? i'm pretty sure you've talked abt it before but i'd love to hear your thoughts.

well, i think there are a lot of things that could've happened....but i'm not entirely sure, as i haven't seen the season since it aired. that means i can't give the biggest in depth answer to it regarding every single tl character, so i'll just give my thoughts on what i think should've happened............................................for beard

first of all, he should've broken up with jane after mom city. i've talked a lot about that, and how i believe that beard's forgiveness of nate should've been shown as a forgiveness of himself as well, and by extension beard finally beginning his journey of self-healing. because, no. forgiving nate didn't Heal beard, not by a long shot, but it helped fix a little bit within himself that would've paved the road to his breaking up with jane. realizing he didn't need to be punished anymore.

so, if there was no jane involved in the finale, there would be no wedding or beard choosing jane over ted.

HOWEVER. i think it would've been amazing to see beard choose richmond anyways.........finally making a choice for himself. he came to richmond in the first place because ted asked him to, and he was willing to leave richmond all because ted asked him to. ignoring the jane of it all, beard choosing to stay in richmond because he wants to....he wants to continue coaching the team, he wants to complete their mission of winning the whole fucking thing, he wants to nurture those relationships he made and be .,,,, well. his own independent person, something we never really saw considering he was either following ted or following jane. never on his own.

regarding the other characters,

JAMES DIDN'T DESERVE TO BE FORGIVEN. i am all for james's recovery arc, showcasing him in rehab and actively trying to get better. but just because a character is in recovery doesn't automatically erase all the harm they've done, nor does it mean their victims need to forgive them for anything. i think jamie should've been shown to grapple with what he wanted to do, forgive him or not, and come to the conclusion that he doesn't need to do anything. he doesn't need to care what james thinks of him anymore, he doesn't deserve to have that weighing on him. i think jamie should've been shown to be ... idk not Happy or Supportive, but be okay with james in recovery, but draw boundaries that he doesn't need to do anything past that. he should've had someone tell him it was his choice, rather than being told to forgive him.

roy should've been in therapy earlier on in the season than last second. i'm glad that roy is seeking help, obviously, but i think it would've bettered his arc if we saw more of it starting like,,,, 3x08 onwards. maybe. idk. again, i haven't seen s3 since it aired.

not sure about rebecca, since i didn't really pay attention to her arc that much in s3 (sorry to all) because i disliked the psychic aspect so much. i like her ending up with the dutch man! wish we got more of them between 3x06 and the finale, but i understand the romcom aspect of reuniting with someone you thought you'd never see again. i don't hate her ending !!!!

ted needed to go back to kansas, sorry. it wasn't dottie "forcing" him to go back, even though i will admit she's a pretty shit parent lmao. but it wasn't like that wasn't the plan from the very start. could it have been handled better? absolutely! should've jason played ted with way more emotion in 3x12? YES. but,,, come on. ted is a father first and foremost. before a coach, friend, romantic interest, etc. he's a father. and that's actually been a really big part of his character, so i never understood when people said that it "came out of nowhere" or it was so "out of character" for him.........to....be with his son? DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE HENRY LASSO HATE. i swear some of y'all forget the message of being curious, not judgemental lmao. ted was always supposed to go back to henry. i don't agree with the idea of uprooting a literal child to a whole other country, though i can picture there being a time where they do move back to richmond together! the door is left open, not closed! i could picture him going there as a teenager and going to school there, but again. he's like.....12 lmao. ted's arc always circled around his son...and he needed to go back.

also keeley just deserved better. i'm perfectly okay with her remaining single at the end of the show, as i do think that that could've helped her heal herself and her relationships with other people and her career. no, giving her a romantic ending wouldn't have impacted her career, but i think i like where she ended up. on her own, with her new friend of barbara and their company, her and rebecca, and even her and roy and jamie!!!!!!! i think there's chances for their to be romance, but like. i think considering how much of keeley's arc has revolved around romance, it's nice that she didn't end up with anyone. idk.
