[outlander spoilers; books 7-9]
it’s mind-boggling to me how some fans love to undermine the theories about claire being a direct descendant from fersali or straight up don’t want her to be their descendant (nor do they want fergus to be st. germain’s son)
to each their own etc but why are people so BORING why do they hate FUN jfc
istg that’s one of the few interesting/intriguing storylines in these later books
AND
it would be so cool and sweet to have them as claire’s ancestors??? think about how that would fit into the (found) family + fate bound theme of the story
not to mention her being a descendant from both paul rakoczy aka le comte st. germain and laoghaire???? absolutely hilarious
i hope the show writers do a good job with this storyline because it has a lot of potential, but in the meantime i have to read fans crying “but there’s no time for it!!!!” and in the same breath saying how they “need to do the bear attack” in s8 LIKE PLEASE SHUT UPPPPP
#“fergus wouldn’t let go of the fraser name” he doesn’t have to actually#this is a fictional story i’m begging y’all to think for three seconds and be creative#this fandom is fully committed to being boring it’s impressive#i hope the show really digs into this#who cares about amy being killed by a bear#they can cut that shit and focus on interesting storylines since di@n@ won’t do it#outlander#claire beauchamp#claire fraser#fergus fraser#marsali fraser#fergus x marsali#fersali#comte st. germain#paul rakoczy

So, I haven’t read Bees yet, but I had spoilers and I was so mad to know that the whole Fergus situation hadn’t had any developments. Like, that was probably one of the things that I was most excited to read in book 9 and finding out that there was nothing new about that was a big turn off to me.
Before Bees came out I had theories about the Beauchamps/Fergus/Claire/St. Germain, and I still have them (I have yet to read Bees tho), but it seems as if DG isn’t interested in exploring that. Which begs the question: why introduce the Beauchamps in the first place? Like you said, Percy could’ve married into any French noble family. Also, why bring back St. Germain in The Space Between?
That really bothers me because the matter of Claire’s ancestry was never a thing. Like, before Percy and the Beauchamps came into scene, one could just assume that Claire’s family had the time-traveling genes and that’s why she’s a traveler. But with the Beauchamps things change, DG can’t just introduce them and then leave it be. She needs to explain what happened there.
Because the thing is, as far as we know, Baron Amandine doesn’t have children. Percy and Cecile don’t have children (unless there’s info about that in book 9 that I don’t know of). How the hell the Beauchamp family line continued then? Oh, we have Amelie. But Fergus refuses to believe Percy. But even if he does believe Percy, he would have to take St. Germain’s last name, Rakoczy, and not Beauchamp, because the lands and the money belong to him and not the Beauchamp family. Also, his children (or at least Germain) would have to take the name as well.
We know that somehow, for some reason, someone took the Beauchamp name in the middle of this mess and continued the family line. And that at some point the Beauchamp family moved to England. But when? Well, the French Revolution is just around the corner and it would make sense for them, as nobility, to run away from it.
The whole thing is really frustrating because this plot has been around since book 7 and we barely have any answers. I hope book 10 can give some.
Still rereading Voyager, and this description of Claire’s eyes has me thinking again what a missed opportunity it was for Percy not to have turned out to be her ancestor. *sigh*
Keep reading

The Cosmic Christ, by Brian Philips
So it is written: "The first man, Adam, became a living being"; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.
- First Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians (15:45)
He is at once distinct in being from the universe, and present in all things by His own power - giving order to all things, and over all and in all revealing His own providence, and giving life to each thing and all things, including the whole without being included, but being in His own Father alone wholly and in every respect - thus, even while present in a human body and Himself quickening it, He was, without inconsistency, quickening the universe as well, and was in every process of nature, and was outside the whole, and while known from the body by His works, He was nonetheless manifest from the working of the universe as well.
- Saint Athanasius of Alexandria, On the Incarnation (17.1b-2)
Teilhard profoundly absorbed the Ignatian vision of "finding God in all things," and extended it to the furthest reach of the cosmos. God is not only in the outer limits of an expanding universe but present here and now, he taught. In his book The Divine Milieu, he wrote, "To repeat, by virtue of the Creation, and still more, of the Incarnation, nothing here below is profane to those who know how to see." […] Love unites all reality in Christ and also draws creation together in an ever-deepening union. For Teilhard, every particle of the universe is part of the cosmic Christ, and through love everything that exists is drawn deeper into that connection.

Reposted from @kofc_official Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day. We mourn the deaths suffered by the six million Jewish victims of Hitler’s 'final solution,' and the many other victims who were also exterminated by that hate-filled and ruthless Nazi regime. The Knights of Columbus Board of Directors visited the Nazi death camp at Auschwitz in October 2004, during a pilgrimage to Poland concluding the Order’s yearlong celebration of the 25th anniversary of Pope John Paul II’s pontificate. Supreme Knight Carl Anderson said at the time, “Words cannot adequately describe the emotions that one feels there. The sense of horror at the inhumanity of the crimes committed there is overpowering.” In the picture above, Bishop Tadeusz Rakoczy of Bielsko-Zywiec and Bishop Thomas Daily of Brooklyn, then supreme chaplain, lead the group in prayer before an execution wall. The Knights of Columbus later contributed half a million dollars to finance the completion of the Centre for Dialogue and Prayer, a Catholic institution that provides a venue for meetings, exchanges, education, reflection, and prayer for all those who visit Auschwitz. #holocaust #holocaustmemorial #holocaustremembranceday #holocaustremembrance #auschwitz #frmcgivney #fathermcgivney #kofc #knightsofcolumbus #charity #unity #fraternity #patriotism #catholic #catholics #catholicchurch #catholicism #virginmary #blessedmother #jesus #jesuschrist #god #prayer #rosary (at Aushwitz, Poland) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKjkOqODIf5/?igshid=fnfkhg0xsdzz

13. Comte St. Germain
Oh Comte St. Germain, you glorious red herring of a villain, you left so soon and ultimately meant so little. Are you the Paul Rakoczy who was flying spitfires with Jerry MacKenzie in “A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows”? Does it even matter? Does anything?

6th Annual Cristal Connor Awards: BEST SOUND MIXING
WINNER-
The Fits- Gillian Arthur and Chris Foster
Sublimely physical, letting the sounds of panting and stomping feet against gym floors have equal footing with its slyly unsettling score. Rarely does visionary sound design propel a film forward and characterize it as much as The Fits’ does.
NOMINEES-
Jackie- Bruce Litecky, David Miranda-Hardy and Jean-Paul Mugel
Rightly lets Levi’s score boom, while also letting you relish in Jackie’s whispers. Positively enveloping sonic textures. And those White house tour sequences are divine.
Krisha- Ian Henkel and Tim Rakoczy
Chamber films don’y usually sound this crazed or cacophonous, but maybe they should. McOmber’s score pierces while the sounds of a full house of rowdy family members and rowdier dogs are layered in masterfully.
Silence- Steve F.B. Smith
Crashing waves, and falls and falls of rain are as punishing as they are soothing, and the juxtaposition with Garfield’s whispered narration and expert use of silence make for a superior sound design befitting the film’s title.
The Witch- Adam Stein and Robert Turi
A masterclass in horror sound design, helped by a fabulous score from Mark Korven, relishing in dynamic contrast and sonic jump scares.
