When Born Free was forced to cancel earlier this summer, we felt like our blue-collar builders had already busted their asses all year and that they should still be recognized in 2020, pandemic or not. We chose not to make them wait until 2021 after so much hard work. All of our sponsors stayed on board and we couldn’t appreciate them more.

Last month we sent out our two-man media team to shoot photos and videos of each builder in the shop environment where they built the bikes. From Birmingham to Denver, our dudes captured the details of the bikes and vibe of each builder.

Esta es la tercera clasificada en la clase Custom del BIke Show celebrado en Madrid Bike Show AMD 2020 de Motorama. Es también una prueba de que no hace falta una exótica base H-D con décadas a la espalda para hacer una moto digna de premio.

Así es. Una moto que a priori podríamos considerar anodina y sin pedigree, también puede escalar a lo más alto en un Bike Show. Las cosas están cambiando… Y las cambian los valientes.

Viendo las cosas en contexto, se nota que es una Honda. El objetivo de esta transformación no ha sido disfrazarla de -por decir algo- venerable Shovelhead, lo que sería ridículo e inútil, y ahora no estaríamos hablando de Tarea Fina.

Es así de simple: el reto consta en hacer la moto de nuevo, pero con características y detalles propios, amén de una calidad de construcción mucho más allá de la ofrecida por los fabricantes generalistas. Y claro, hacerla bonita. Esto es más difícil que colocarle piezas hasta que parezca algo.

Así, el chasis se recortó y ya se le instalaron los nuevos soportes para el guardabarros de 6 pulgadas que cubriría la nueva rueda trasera. Las tapas laterales y el guardabarros delantero se encargaron a Germán Derbidson y mientras tanto, el basculante también se trabajó para poder montar el neumático de 200mm. Depósito de Paughco, nuevos soportes de faro, filtro de aire, etc. Muchos cambios para un nuevo look.

Una vez todo terminado y montado en bruto, toca ir a pintura: Artenruta fue el encargado de vestir de noche a esta Honda, que ahora campa a sus anchas con un bien merecido premio.
