I've been playing with perler this past week :] I haven't been doing any figures for the most part, but I started with this one.

SISI'ATI. STAHP

OH. MY GOSH. XD

So I'm messing around with Clangen, a Warrior Cats inspired game that lets you watch over and guide a clan of feral cats, as inspiration for prehistoric groups of richiri (my feathered raptor aliens). Richiri tended to be nomadic herders and hunter-gatherers in their early history, so it's not too far of a leap with some imagination. They're both small social predators in their environment. It's low-effort enough that it's easy to do and provides enough randomly-generated fodder for my imagination to take and run with. X3

I have a spreadsheet I set up with help that helps me generate richiri names in a pinch, so I've been using it. And Sisi'ati, the leader (think Sisistar, adventurous) has been having BEEF with this one other member of the clan, Patu.

I don't know why, she just REALLY disliked this one fellow. When he was a hunter, she landed him in the healers' den by smacking him when he spoke out against her once -- and I scoured the relationships trying to find one thing that might have drawn her ire! Nothing! Patu is righteous and has strong ideals, but he's a pleasant young lad that everyone else in the pack loves, and he'd been nothing but social and pleasant to everyone aside from having a trivial disagreement with Sisi'ati's apprentice and adopted daughter,. Guri.

When the pack's healer, Flasi, was bitten by a snake and died suddenly, as the one who spent the most time in the medicine den, Patu stepped up to take on the role. (I also gave him Voro, a former loner who promised to look out for Patu, the medicine "cat" role as well, since we desperately needed healers.)

Shortly after this, Sisi'ati started picking fights.

First it was with a rogue loner. She chased them off with just a superficial scratch.

Then she fought a large predator (dog), and got bitten severely enough to land her in the medicine den for several months.

She continued to get mad at Patu, despite my mediator's best efforts. (I literally note in my notes, "SISI, CHILL." XD)

A few moons later, she gets out of the medicine den, fully healed...

And in that same moon, fights ANOTHER dog and breaks her back leg, getting sent STRAIGHT back into the medicine den for another four moons.

(During this time, Patu is still being a joy, and has become a single father of three that he dotes on. The rest of the clan loves him, Sisi'ati is just being a jerk!)

I roll a new moon, and see that Sisi'ati's broken bone has healed, albeit with a scar. YAY! Finally she can get back out on patro--

Sisi. I'm glad SOMEONE saved Kwoka (a kit) from that eagle. Yes.

BUT SHE'S BACK IN THE MEDICINE DEN AGAIN, SAME MOON, WITH CLAW WOUNDS AND A TORN PELT.

SISI! XD

For someone who hates the clan's healer so much you sure do very little to avoid the medicine den!!!! XD

I caught myself thinking "oh my gosh. Sisi, you still have all nine lives. Could you maybe die once instead of this nonsense and cantankerous beefing with Patu?"

!!!!! THE COMMUNITY VS INDIVIDUAL commentary is my favourite thing about this movie. i loved what ragnarok did with the deconstruction of heroism and how L&T pulls it apart completely and shows thor as someone who doesn't really have a sense of self outside of the expectations he's been trapped in since childhood and as someone who ultimately crumbles under the weight of it all, his own failure both the perceived one and the very real one cemented even more by the distrust of the people who have seen him as a saviour.

and i think it really brings home the loneliness of it and how bogus the concept is; you cannot serve the people you're standing apart from, heroism is inherently hyperindividualistic and isolating and of course when thor fails at it he isolates himself even further because he doesn't really know how else to cope with any of it but to heal, to truly heal he has to come back, re-join the community not as a king but as its member and for the community to really mend itself it has to embrace him back into its fold.

First off, how did you find this??? Second of all, writing that chapter was me close to wanting to bash my head against the wall cause of how lengthy it was. BUT I'm so glad it's driven you insane.
