Today in Hasselt (Belgium). My carved emblem of De Roode Roos is being used for the first time. It replaces the emblem which already was in use for around 300 years. Since 1682 in Hasselt, a Maria procession has been held every seven years, in honor of the Virga Jesse, yesterday was the first procession ( First of four). On Monday after the first procession, the Brotherhood of Our Lady shares the tradition of pea soup at the Virga . Jesse Basilica . Therefore the Hasselts giant Langeman (from 1810) is taken from the city museum and makes his round in the historic city center of Hasselt.
