There’s just so many things that you’ve done that have made this tour feel more special than any tour I’ve done, like, I write one song that has a line about, ‘Make the friendship bracelets in it,’ and all of a sudden I show up at the tour, and you guys are making bracelets, and trading them, and making new friends, and giving them to people, and just spreading so much joy and now just, fast-forward, we come to play New Orleans, and there’s a giant friendship bracelet on the outside of this stadium, like, that’s all you. DC Legacy
The basic premise of this is that the time has come for older heroes to step down and the next generation take their place. Clark Kent is now the editor and owner of the Daily Planet and vows to lead them into the future while keeping their dedication to the truth. Diana Prince is now Queen of the Amazons and has relinquished her title as Wonder Woman though she still joins the Justice Society when needed. Bruce Wayne has become mayor of Gotham City and intends to use the power of the office to fight crime at the root. However the intensified spotlight means he must give up the cowl. Others such as Oliver Queen have stepped down from active duty to become teachers to the next generation, passing down their skills and knowledge. Published: May 26, 2024
It is completely inexcusable that there are no representatives who acknowledge biological sex as binary and immutable at this symposium.
One month ago, I was alerted about an upcoming symposium on sex and gender organized by the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), an institute of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), in a thread on X by trans rights activist and biologist Jey McCreight.
McCreight was responding to a series of posts by JK Rowling, who offered £1,000,000 pounds to any woman who could prove she had Klinefelter syndrome. A trans-identified male X user named Taylor came forward claiming to be “a chick with Mosaic Klinefelter syndrome,” and asked when he would be paid. Rowling responded, “The cheque will be written the moment I see proof of no Y chromosome!” To my knowledge, Taylor has not yet provided such proof.
McCreight weighed in, proudly touting her credentials: “JK Rowling is not an expert in genetics. But I am!” She then made pseudoscientific assertions about “chromosomal sex” while ironically accusing Rowling and her supporters of having a “5th grade understanding of biology.”
The following day, McCreight shared a screenshot of a message she received from the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI). The message thanked her for tagging them in her post and informed her about “a two-day symposium in July that will bring together experts from the biological and social sciences to clarify (not resolve!) the complexity of sex categorization.”
Registration for the symposium, titled “Exploring the many dimensions of sex and gender in the genomics era,” opened on May 19, and the “tentative agenda” was revealed.
However, despite the event's stated purpose of bringing “experts from the biological and social sciences to clarify and contextualize – but not resolve – the complexities around sex, gender, and genomics by considering them in their scientific, ethical, and historical contexts,” the list of presenters is ideologically homogeneous, consisting entirely of activist scientists and radical gender ideologues.
Here’s the agenda:
Who are these people? Let’s take a look:
One of the speakers is Julia Serano, a self-described activist who writes about sex on her blog. Serano believes that sex is “a collection of sexually dimorphic traits" that, with the exception of chromosomes, can be changed with hormones and surgery to literally change a person’s sex. She has described the claim that “trans women are biological males” as “a myth.”
Another presenter, Beans Velocci, stated in a recent article in Cell, that “sex is an incoherent category, one that has perhaps outlived its use.” Velocci says that belief in the reality of sex categories “fuels ongoing arguments about the purportedly biological reasons that transgender (and especially nonbinary) people are not deserving of rights or do not even exist.”
And what would a symposium about sex be without Anne Fausto-Sterling? She will also be in attendance. Fusto-Sterling is responsible for the pseudoscientific assertion that there are “5 sexes” and the originator of the widely debunked 1.7% statistic for so-called “intersex” conditions. She believes biological sex is a multi-level/variate spectrum. Or a social construct. Or both. Or neither. It’s unclear.
Patrick Grzanka, an associate professor of psychology and chair of the Women, Gender & Sexuality Interdisciplinary Program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, will also be present. You might remember Grzankafrom Matt Walsh’s documentary, “What Is a Woman?” He was the guy who refused to say that a “trans woman” is a “male” and stated that “invoking the the word ‘truth’” was “condescending and rude.”
Then there’s Catherine Clune-Taylor, an Assistant Professor of Gender and Sexuality Studies at Princeton. Her dissertation is titled “From Intersex to DSD: A Foucauldian Analysis of the Science, Ethics and Politics of the Medical Production of Cisgendered Lives.” In a book chapter for The Routledge Handbook of Feminist Philosophy of Science titled “Is Sex Socially Constructed?”, Clune-Taylor argues that “our understanding of biological sex and its multiple material components – is shaped by socio-culturally and temporally specific meanings, and material arrangements.” She also contends that what we typically refer to as “sex differences” are “better characterized as material effects of development within a gendered environment than evidence of naturally binary sex.”
Melissa Wilson, an evolutionary and computational biologist at Arizona State, does not necessarily fit the typical activist profile. However, based on her posts on X, she appears to believe that sex is a non-binary “spectrum.”
Sam Sharpe, a PhD candidate at Kansas State University, self-describes as “a trans and intersex person” who has “been involved in trans and intersex activism since 2016.” Sharpe calls for a “more inclusive understanding of sex diversity” and believes Lia Thomas is being discriminated against for “failing to conform to expectations of cisnormative white femininity.” Sharpe says that “biological sex is complex, variable, not fully understood, and definitely not a binary,” and blames the binary view of sex on “capitalism.”
Cassius Adair, who is moderating a session, has a PhD in English from the University of Michigan. According to his website, he provides “queer and trans storytelling consulting for popular podcasts and public radio programs” and serves as a “transgender sensitivity reader.”
Paisley Currah, a professor of political science and women’s and gender studies at Brooklyn College, is also an author and trans rights activist. He published a book in 2022 titled Sex Is as Sex Does, which argues against sex classification laws.
Ross Brooks, another presenter, is a historian focusing on the “queer history of science.” He served as a contributing editor for a queer-themed edition of Viewpoint: The Magazine of the British Society for the History of Science, with the goal of “Queering the Museum.”
Christopher Donohue is a historian of science at the National Human Genome Research Institute. His research “uses the history and present manifestations of eugenics, scientific racism, ableism, heteronormativity and their complex connections to contemporary genomics and medicine to facilitate meaningful and difficult conversations that promote equity and confront past and present wrongs.” His specific views on the biology of sex are unclear, but the activist language saturating his work is indicative.
Os Keys is a PhD candidate at the University of Washington, and describes himself as a “genderfucky nightmare goth.” An LGBTQ+ activist, Keys has blocked me on X, although we have never interacted.
Liz Dietz works at the NIH and researches “bioethics as it pertains to disability rights and LGBTQ issues” designed to “let us reckon with the past.” It is unclear what her views on the biology of sex are, but the activist language in her research is suggestive.
Kellan Baker, a health services researcher at the Whitman-Walker Institute, identifies as a trans man and LGBTQ+ activist. Baker claims to “have been every letter in the LGBTQ acronym.” Baker’s research focuses on “data equity,” and Baker has argued against binary sex classification forms.
Isabel Goldman is a trans-identifying male and an inclusion and diversity officer at Cell Press. Goldman has approvingly shared the quote “Science’s rigid commitment to binary sex and gender quashes creativity and limits progress.” Goldman has also claimed that “the categorization of people into binary, immutable sexes at birth is as much of a social construct as gender is.”
Lastly, Nikki Stevens (they/them), is a postdoctoral researcher at MIT writing a book about “abolition(ist) tech and white supremacy.” Stevens works in a “Data + Feminism Lab” that studies “data activism practices of trans-led groups in the United States.” Stevens has given talks titled “Breaking the Binary.”
That’s everyone.
One thing is clear: this is not a serious symposium concerned with truth and deepening our understanding of sex and gender in genomics—it’s a gender activism strategy session. It is completely inexcusable that there are no representatives who acknowledge biological sex as binary and immutable at this symposium. It is imperative that the NHGRI extend an invitation to individuals like Carole Hooven, Emma Hilton, Heather Heying, Jerry Coyne, Richard Dawkins, or myself, who can offer a different, and scientifically accurate, perspective.
The NHGRI must immediately rectify their error.

This is like a conference of Flat Earthers, homeopathy, alien abductionists and Bigfoot hunters.
Note: "Jey" McCreight is Jen McCreight, who organized "Boobquake," a rally which came in reaction to nonsensical Islamic pseudoscience.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boobquake#Inception
The Boobquake rally served to protest news reports of controversial beliefs espoused by Hojatoleslam Kazem Seddiqi, an Islamic religious authority in Iran. Seddiqi blamed women who dress immodestly for causing earthquakes. On April 19, 2010, it was reported that Seddiqi advised his listeners that "Many women who do not dress modestly lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which increases earthquakes" and Iranians should "adapt their lives to Islam's moral codes" to avoid being "buried under the rubble".
She subsequently cut off her boobs and claims she's a "he/they."
"Science in progress." 🤡🤡🤡

2024 Film Reviews (January-June)
5 stars
Much Ado About Nothing (1993): Just a solid adaptation. Everyone is charming and witty, even aside from a couple dodgy accents.
Short Term 12 (2012): Oof, not an easy watch. Deals with high-risk foster kids in a surprisingly understated way, which I think makes it all the more effective.
Point Break (1991): Yeah I can see why this became an action classic. Charming leads (especially Patrick Swayze) and enough little odd details to make it memorable. Folks weren't overstating the queer subtext either.
The Fandom (2020): The history of the furry fandom. Definitely an interesting watch.
4 stars
Man of Tai Chi (2013): I ended up enjoying it. Solid acting, action, and story even if it's a bit generic. A callback to older martial arts movies. Script has some weaker points but overall it's both a good highlight reel for Tiger Chen and a strong directorial debut for Keanu Reeves.
Seized (2020): The Scott Adkins/Isaac Florentine combo usually makes for a solid movie and I'm glad this one continues that. Solid story and solid action, which is good because the latter is what this type of movie's audience is looking for. The only notable mark against it (aside from the random topless nudity prevalent in DTV movies) is that the son is an annoying bratty preteen which isn't helped by the actor's flat acting. Thankfully he's only in a handful of scenes. The resolution was unexpected in a refreshing way. Considering how routine and formulaic this genre can be, that's definitely a positive.
Destination Wedding (2018): What happens when you have two awkward pessimistic cranky introverts dragged to a wedding for people they hate? They sit in the corner judging everyone else and bantering back and forth. Points docked for a couple casual lines of homophobia and transphobia.
3 stars
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023): Middle of the road superhero film, a general downgrade from the first one. Some scenes work while others feel perfunctory. Hard to tell if the weak material was present in the script or if executive meddling/behind the scenes drama is to blame.
Madame Webb (2024): It's... not great. Very messy script, plot doesn't gel together well, and there's a lot of slow moments. But it is an interesting watch, in the ways it feels more like the 2000s era superhero movies that what the MCU has been doing. Characters are fun even if they aren't much more developed than their archetypes. Also like how the movie shows her pre-cog powers and how disorienting they can be, even if the editing gets a little too frenetic at times.
Godzilla x Kong (2024): Fun action scenes, pacing problems, good Kong moments, and mediocre human moments (Jia is a standout and the overall acting is good, it's just the script is lacking). Visuals are cool but some of the effects used are dizzying to look at. More of a Kong movie than a Godzilla movie, Goji only gets a couple notable moments beyond fighting and swimming around.
Kickboxer Vengeance (2016): Good choreography weakened by choppy camera work. Alain Moussi makes for a charming lead, JCVD is fun in the mentor role, and Dave Bautista has an intimidating presence as the antagonist. Typical revenge story has a bit of a tell instead of show problem.
IF (2024): It's fine. It's cute at points. I fully dreaded that this would be an insufferable mess and it is at points; the first act in general and Steve Carrell as Blue in particular. Two notable moments of visual and auditory noise that had me curled up in my seat. The second half is decent and there's a fun reveal with one of the characters I liked.
Red Notice (2021): A fun though not especially unique action comedy about a trio of thieves. The humor is pretty hit or miss, depends on the viewer feelings about self-aware referential humor and Joss Whedon esque quippy lines.I did like the fun twists and turns though.

He moved all of his stuff into his apartment, set up his bed and furniture, then went for a walk. The rest of the boxes he would worry about unpacking later; after just a few hours of moving in, Patrick needed a break. His excuse was exploring the town, getting to know his new home. Really, he just wanted to smoke. He was currently sitting on a bench in the town square, sunglasses pulled over his eyes, puffing on a cigarette. He watched people wander by, trying to catch any familiar faces without getting noticed himself.

“we get lots of theories that are debunked within hours” ...??? have we? really? i dont think tree even bothers with these tabloid rumors hat just run off fan theories and taylor’s lyrics. but if it could potentially damage taylor’s image or how their relationship is perceived, she might address it, cause its real, it involves actual people in an actual relationship. and anyways still these rumors don’t stop.
and jfc setting these random ass rules to when a couple should get married, or whatever is so fucking weird. its clear they have their own plans, and taylor is comfortable/confident to talk about in songs, which is what matters. and well, even if taylor IS engaged to joe, we’re not gonna find out cause they’re private like that. although marriage is a different matter, as they’d likely make one announcement or something when it does happen, but that’ll be it. and anyways, even if tay+joe get married, they’re still gonna deny it and say its fake, so?
Here’s a list of crazy rumours I can think of regarding Taylor. Let me know how many of these have been “officially” shut down.
Taylor Swift is a member of the illuminati x x
She’s the clone of a Satanic priestess and gave birth to a snake x
She’s a Pizzagate truther x
She cheated on Conor Kennedy with Patrick Schwarzenegger x

I can think of others but looking for stale tabloid articles to cite as “sources” isn’t my idea of a good time, so I’m going to stop right here. Something that Kaylors might want to ask themselves is if they really want to be on the side of the argument that goes “if they don’t debunk a rumour it must be true”.

In my EXO R&B corner a little worried. I hear treble. Not much hard bass but I hope it will be enough. This is the other side of the coin/X-EXO even though we’ve been listening to the other side supposedly. The beat is different but I hope the cooks in the kitchen have not changed. Or not that drastically.
Queen Lyricists Kenzie - The Underdogs - Kevin Randolph - Teddy Riley - Patrick “J. Que” Smith - Brittany Burton - Dewain Whitmore Jr. - Andrew Hey - LDN Noise - Penomeco - Yoo Young-jin

It has been a long hiatus, though to me it didn’t seem to be one. Time flies. June and July have flied by so fast, and I can’t keep up, shit things happening one after the other, and I’m still coping… But it’s a process. I’m functioning now enough to write and interact on this blog.
As I promised, this first post is a list of June releases (from June 3rd) and the reviews I found about them until now. You’re all welcome to let me know if you have a review that I forgot to add.
Since July is also over, I’m also sharing this month’s books and reviews.
As always, updating is constantly happening, if you know about a book or have a review, just let me know! 😉
Welcome back on Swift Coffee, everyone!
For the newbies (welcome 😘): if you don’t yet know what this is all about: I’m posting a list every Monday of the books that get released during the current week. I also include other people’s reviews about them! I try to do a blog hop from time to time and spread the word about this feature, but I obviously can’t find every review that’s related, so a sign that you have one would be very much appreciated! Every review is eligible that is written about a book published on the week in question, even if it was written before said week!
So… one question remains:
Would you like to join the ride?
It’s very easy!
These are the rules:
To be featured, you don’t have to do anything else, but to leave a comment below this post, or contact me by any other way, and let me know you have a review. A link to it makes it easier, but if you only say your review comes out on x day of the week, that’s okay as well, I’ll watch out for it! Following me is not a must, but I appreciate it very much, if you do! 🙂
I continuously update this post according to your infos/comments, and I share it again every time I’ve made an update.
The book you reviewed don’t have to be from the list here, if it’s not listed, but published this week, I’ll add the book, too!
You can also send me a review for next week, because these posts are scheduled! 😉

‘Blue like the color we painted your borther’s room’ interesting 👀 looks like that girl on Tumblr who says her cousin is a family friend of Joe, who said that those pictures of Taylor painting a wall blue were her painting the walls of Patrick’s (Joe’s little brother) bedroom was right. I mean, she already seemed pretty legit with that picture of Joe as a child she posted, but this confirms it pretty muvh. Hopefully that means the other Tay x Joe stories she told are also true then
Seems like it. What other stories did she mention? I forgot.

hera disapproves | patrick & tai
date: february 2014
summary: tai and patrick wrestle
trigger warning: homophobia
"It's bloody freezing in here." Tai hugged the bottle of fireball to his chest as though the warmth of the alcohol would somehow seep through and help him out. The fire was lit in the brazier at Hera's feet, but to get closer they would have to sit directly underneath her stony glare and Tai would rather be cold and behind the statue than comfortable in front of it. He rubbed his arms and grinned at Patrick, taking a swig then offering the bottle out towards him. "Just means we gotta drink faster. Warm up from the inside."
Patrick scoffed, swiping the bottle from Tai when it was held out to him. "Not worried that the queen of Olympus is gonna smite us?" he asked. He tipped the bottle back and took a few big gulps. He eyed the statue and smirked up at it, like challenging Hera to come after him. "Imagine she's just up there right now watching us like, 'what the fuck are these assholes doing?' Hah." He held the bottle back out.
Tai cast a nervous glance up towards the statue, scooting a couple inches further away from it. “D’you think she is?” He cleared his throat and grabbed the bottle back. “Who cares, we’re not doing anything wrong.”
It wasn't worth pointing out that they were drinking underage; Pat didn't want Tai to chicken out and make them leave. "Yeah," he agreed, shrugging. "Whatever. I doubt she actually gives a shit about any of us anyway. Probably doesn't even know we exist."
Tai relaxed with the reassurance and took another swig. He leaned his elbows on his knees and considered the columns spread around the empty cabin. “Bloody oath, it better stay that way.” His brow creased. “Why’s she got no kids?”
He held his hand out for the bottle again. "Isn't it because she's like some bitter scorned wife or something?" Pat snorted. "Zeus is out here fucking everyone under the fucking sun and she's like, at home and pissed about it."
Tai passed it back to Patrick, eyeing up the statue of Hera as Pat spoke. It didn't come to life to turn around and glare at them or anything, so he felt safe enough to laugh. "She's gotta be bored shitless." He had already been tipsy by the time they had stumbled into the cabin, but only as of the last few sips of fireball was he starting to warm up. He grinned at Patrick. "What do gods do for fun other than fuck around?"
"I dunno," Pat mumbled. He was more drunk than Tai, he thought, but he took another large gulp of Fireball. "Mess with mortals? They just like pick out random humans around the world and like, ruin their lives." He shook his head. "Fuck, man, if I was immortal, I'd just fuck everyone."
Tai laughed again and leant back on his hands after grabbing the bottle back. He took a long swig and put it on the ground beside him. “They... do,” he answered after a few seconds. He couldn’t remember how long ago his last sip was so he picked the bottle back up. “Most of ‘em. Not my mom I guess, but your dad fucks. You got heaps of sibs.”
Pat laughed, but he was making a face as he did. "Ugh, fuck, don't remind me. My cabin is fuckin' crowded, man." He laid back on the floor and the cold crept into his back. "And they keep inviting people over! I think I'm the only person who gives a shit in there about fuckin' privacy."
"Like me?" Tai asked with a grin, pressing the bottle to his chest. "I was invited over. But yeah, gotta be rough." He examined the label without reading it, smiling fading slightly. "The no privacy thing, with relationships goin' on around."
"Yeah but, you're," Pat waved his hand. "Whatever. You stay over too late but you're cool. It's not like all the fuckin'... people who overstay their welcome way more. If I have to watch anyone else make out when I walk in the door, I'm gonna lose my mind."
Tai figured they were talking about the same thing, considering they had both left the Morpheus cabin tonight to come here. "They're so weird," he complained, taking another swig from the bottle as he pictured Abel in his mind, staring at him. "Freaky as hell."
"So freaky," Pat agreed. "Like, ugh, I don't care what you do but why do you have to shove it in everyone's face?" He sat up and held out his hand for the bottle.
It was a confusing choice of words, but with a bit of effort and another swig, Tai understood how it could apply. "They could tone it down," he agreed as he passed the bottle back to Patrick. "Bloody feels like they're trying to creep me out sometimes."
He nodded while he pressed the bottle back to his lips. "Ugh, yeah" Pat said once he lowered the drink again. "They totally fucking are, why else would they keep doing this shit that is clearly skeeving people out?"
Tai turned his back to the statue of Hera and scooted closer to Patrick. His whole body was warm now and when he turned his head too fast, checking over his shoulder just to make sure the statue hadn't moved, parts of his head swum– but it wasn't bad, Patrick was still drinking, and the bottle wasn't empty, so he held his hand out to take it back. "Skeeving people out," Tai repeated in agreement. It was a near-perfect description for how Abel made him feel. "I dunno. To get us to leave?"
Pat snorted. "Ugh, you're probably right. Does that mean we're letting them win?" He laughed, taking another swig before handing the bottle back. "Should we go back?"
Tai made a face and shook his head. "Whoa." He took a second to steady himself, then grabbed the bottle back, holding it up to see how much was left. "We drank heaps. Did you wanna go back?"
"No way," Pat said, shaking his head. The whole room tilted sideways. "Fuck. No, I don't wanna go back." He put his hand on Tai's shoulder and pushed him, very slowly and lightly. "Can you stand up, anyway?"
Tai slowly leaned in the directly Patrick pushed him. "If I tried, I bet."
He snickered, still pushing him. "Try it."
Tai turned to shove him back, but he missed with one arm and only weakly pushed Patrick's shoulder. "Yeah, okay." He slowly put his hands on the ground to start getting to his feet.
Patrick laughed, still leaning into him to make it harder for him to stand. "That was so pathetic, dude."
"Hey!" Tai tried to push Patrick's hands away, laughing. "You're messing with my balance!"
"Fucking duh, man! Fight me off." He laughed as Tai batted his hand away, but he grabbed at him again. Patrick's hand closed around Tai's wrist and he pulled it toward him, leaning backward toward the floor. He never did this kind of thing, but the alcohol and, honestly, Tai's company made it easy for him to loosen up for once.
Tai followed Patrick easily when he pulled him and shoved one of his shoulders to push him back more, connecting this time. "Drag me here to beat me up?" he laughed, twisting his wrist to try and escape Patrick's grip.
"Maybe," Pat said, chuckling and tightening his grip. The shove had pushed him almost all the way back to the floor but he used Tai's resistance as leverage to pull himself back to sitting. "Do you think I could? I've been training a bunch these days."
Tai grinned at him, looking him over slowly. “Nah, I could beat you.” He tried to push him down again but his balance was skewed from the alcohol, and it wasn’t a strong shove. “Good on ya,” he added as an afterthought.
"What, good on me for training, or looking good?" Patrick laughed and let go of Tai's wrist just to shove him. "Try to beat me."
“Both?” Tai leaned back when Patrick shoved him, then laughed and twisted, trying to slam into him with his shoulder. “S’why you got me drunk?”
Tai's shoulder landed on his chest and Pat coughed out another laugh. "I don't need to get you drunk to beat your ass." He grabbed Tai's shoulders again and pushed, getting him on his back.
Tai tipped easily, forgetting he was supposed to be fighting back. He grinned up at Patrick, momentarily distracted, then tried to roll them to the side.
Pat grinned back and grabbed Tai's hands as they pushed against him, struggling to pin them to the floor.
Tai laughed again and tried to twist out of it but between the alcohol and how content he was to lie down, Patrick got him. "Bastard. I let you win."
Pat's smile was open-mouthed, his tongue rolling over his lower lip. "Yeah, yeah, tell yourself that."
"Rematch when sober." Tai's attention drifted down to Patrick's mouth and stopped there. When he spoke again, his voice was lower. "Gonna let me up?"
He tilted his head into one shoulder to indicate a shrug. "Make me."
Tai smiled with half his mouth, heart thrumming in his chest, and lunged up to try and throw Patrick off balance.
The force surprised him and Patrick's leg slipped. He fell a bit to the side and laughed. "Fuck!" He tried to wrestle Tai back down but he lost his advantage, so instead he tried to pull Tai toward him to throw off his momentum.
Instead of resisting Patrick's pull, Tai continued his momentum forward with it to wrestle Patrick onto his back instead. "Okay," he teased, straddling him to keep his legs down. "Easy does it."
Patrick twisted his body to try to get out from underneath Tai, growling a bit as he got pinned back down. "Fuck you," he breathed out, smirking up at Tai. "Fine, fuck, you got me," Pat muttered, picking his head up to get into Tai's face.
Tai smirked back. “Yeah.” His train of thought derailed as Patrick leaned up towards him, their faces closer than ever, and without even thinking about it he leaned in and kissed him.
He wasn't expecting the kiss, but automatically Pat's lips parted and his tongue slid up against Tai's teeth. His body went rigid, shock making him cold. Still, he grunted as he pushed himself closer, trying to roll Tai back over so he'd be above him.
Tai grabbed the front of Pat’s shirt to yank him closer, but the one-handed balance on the floor made it easy to push him over. His back hit the floor, but he just grasped at Patrick with his other hand to pull him back down.
Patrick slipped his hand behind Tai's head while they kissed, tangling his fingers into his hair. He pulled his head close to press their lips together.
This was not how Tai had expected the night to end up when they had left the Morpheus cabin together, but he would be lying to say it wasn’t what he had hoped for. He leaned into the kiss eagerly, cupping Patrick’s jaw with one hand as he pulled his lower lip between his teeth and kept him close with the grip on his shirt.
Pat suddenly pulled Tai's head back by his hair and broke the kiss. He eyed Tai suspiciously, his breathing heavy, lips slightly parted. "Did you plan this?" he asked, then crushed their faces together again before getting his answer. He sat up, taking Tai with him.
Tai inhaled sharply when Pat yanked his head back, but didn’t get a chance to reply until he was pulled up. Breaking the kiss at that point he slid his hands around to Pat’s back under the hem of his shirt, pressing his fingers into his skin. “Fuck, no,” he replied, kissing him again then leaning away once more. “Just went for it. The chance.”
Pat shivered when he felt fingers pressing into his back. He kept one hand gripped into Tai’s hair, staring at his face. “The chance?”
“To kiss you?” Tai scanned his face to try and figure out how he was feeling, but his eyes fell back to Pat’s lips soon enough. “‘Cause I think you’re cool? And uh, hot?” He swallowed.
As soon as the words left Tai's mouth, Pat frowned. He tilted his head back a little, then he leaned in to roughly kiss Tai again. But his stomach twisted, now, and he pulled away once again. "How long have you wanted to?"
Tai's eyebrows scrunched together as he stared at Patrick, confused by the push and pull as well as the questions. "I dunno? When your face was real close?"
He paused again, then yanked Tai back by his hair until their bodies were not so close. "Did you get me drunk just to fuckin' do this?" Pat demanded, releasing his grip and pulling his hand back.
Tai yelped as he was pulled backwards and caught himself on his hands. He blinked, trying to figure out what was going on, and shook his head. "Huh?"
"Fuck, dude." Pat wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and moved backwards away from Tai. "You're fuckin' gross."
“I don’t...” Tai shook his head, leaning forward towards him but not moving otherwise. “What are you...?”
When Tai leaned forward, Pat moved back even more and stood. The alcohol made his head swim and he was unsteady on his feet, but he wanted to stand over Tai. "I thought we were friends, not that you were trying to get in my fucking pants this whole fucking time."
Tai tilted his head back to look up at Pat, the pieces slowly coming together. He frowned, his heart sinking in his chest. “Nah, dude, we are friends! I wasn’t.... I wasn’t.”
He felt his rage spike with Tai's denial. Pat's face twisted into a dark scowl. "Fuck you." A thought occurred to him, and he closed his hands into fists. "Why are you so pissed off about Cas and Abel, then, if you're so into this shit? Are you fucking jealous?"
Tai scrambled to his feet to stand as well when he saw Pat’s fists clench. His face flushed as his confusion melted into embarrassment. “No. No.”
Pat laughed meanly, shaking his head. "You are! And because you can't get laid you try to turn me gay? God, you're fucking weird, dude, you're super fucked up."
Tai felt sick. “No, that’s not...” He clenched his jaw and shook his head, wishing he’d had less to drink as the room swayed again. “You kissed me too.”
The words made Pat bristle. He stepped forward and shoved Tai. "Fuck you, you gave me a bunch of alcohol and pinned me down and kissed me and I was caught off guard. Who's gonna look like a fucking freak if I tell someone?"
Tai stumbled then shoved him back, trying to remember how it had actually happened. “You were.... you were on top of me when I kissed you, that’s not how it went. And you pulled me in. And we split that bottle!”
Pat smacked Tai's hands away and resisted the urge to hit him. "Fuck you, don't fucking touch me, don't talk to me, don't come near me again, you fucking creep."
Tai took a few steps back and held his hands up, scowling back at him. “Fuck you, what’s wrong with you?”
He was already heading toward the door, but Pat stopped and spun back around. "Should I tell my brother what you did tonight?" he spat. "How much shit you've talked about him to me all the time?"
“What?” Tai turned, confusion taking him again and mixing with his hurt and anger. “I’ve never said something bad about him!”
The urge to hit Tai came back once again, and Pat shoved him and stepped back to avoid being shoved in return. "Fuck off and stop talking to me or I'll give you something worse to deal with than nightmares."
Tai only took one step back this time and didn’t try to return the shove. “Don’t threaten me,” he replied incredulously. “I’m not scared of you.”
Pat sneered at Tai and grabbed him by the collar, raising his fist as if to hit him.
Tai pushed his hand away and took a couple steps back. He wasn’t afraid of Patrick, but he didn’t want to fight him, and he knew if he got hit he was going to hit right back. He crossed his arms, still frowning deeply.
Once Tai backed away, Pat laughed again. "Okay, sure. Fuck off and die, creep." He turned on his heel and walked out of the cabin.
Tai stood watching the door even after Patrick had left as his anger dulled and his head spun. Eventually, he turned around and grabbed the empty bottle from the ground before heading for the door, trying to figure out all the while what had happened and why.

One Piece Birthdays: Honorable Mentions
One Piece has hundreds of characters, and over the past year I’ve celebrated the birthdays of only about a few hundred or so of them. So I’d like to take the time to mention every One Piece character without a birthday. Some don’t have birthdays because they’ve debuted too recently, some have no birthdays because they have been forgotten. Some have no birthdays because we haven’t gotten to that yet, even though they’ve existed for a long time and we remember them. To start off with, I will mention every character that exists within the canon that have names. Some you’ll remember. Some you won’t recognize, but if I showed you a picture of them you’d be like “Oh yeah that guy”. And then some of them you won’t have any recollection of, and I can’t blame you for it. Today, we will honor your memories, and hope that one day, Eiichiro Oda gives you a birthday.

I used the names that they are given on the wiki, as opposed to their Official English names, if they even have one. I did this so that you can simply search their names on the One Piece Wiki and learn about them, if any interest you. However, a couple of them are so obscure that they don’t even have their own pages, in which case you will only be able to fine them here.
Next we will honor all non-canon characters. These characters appeared in filler, movies, specials, OVAs, one-shots, video games, or any other material that was officially made but not part of the manga. These characters are gaurunteed to never get a birthday, and that is a curse they bear. Now some non-canon characters, such as Gion and Tokikake, debut in non-canon and then later appear in canon, making them canon characters, and thus giving them a chance to have a birthday. However, this is such a rare case, that I wouldn’t count on it, especially for non-canon characters that debuted years ago.

Lastly, I want to honor all characters, canon and non-canon, with no names. The majority of these characters are just extras that only appeared in one panel or shot. But there’s a couple that are actually memorable, such as that one guy that was in Spandine’s group, or the masked CP-0 members. Some of these people can actually get names eventually. For example, Don Quixote Mjosgard was a nameless character for the longest time, until in the Reverie he became important and was given a name. I cannot list these nameless characters, as they have no names, but I do still want to honor them, and hope that one day they will be given names and have birthdays.
