28 years ago today the red wings came to the montreal forum and put up 9 goals in a period in a half on patrick roy. he was a proud man, already a 2x cup and conn smythe winner as a canadien, and he saw being left in for this many goals against instead of pulled as a great injustice. after he finally was pulled, he went up to the president of the Canadiens, who sat right behind the bench, and said "this is the last game I play as a Canadien." He was traded that week to the Avs, won another two cups and another conn smythe, and neither Montreal nor any other Canadian team has won a Cup since.
