Lupakan Masa Lalu.

"Ayo bangkit"

Begitu kata mereka terhadap diriku yang masih teringat akan masa laluku.

Aku tahu, aku harus bisa bangkit.

Tapi, nyatanya tidak semudah itu, mau melupakan, tapi selalu saja dunia punya cara untuk membuatku mengingatnya kembali.

Aku ingin berusaha memperbaikinya. Aku ingin sekali melupakannya.

Fiuh.

Rasa-rasanya aku ingin kembali ke masa lalu dan bilang pada diriku untuk tidak gegabah dalam mengambil suatu keputusan.

Lalu akan bilang, kalau keputusan yang aku ambil pada akhirnya akan merugikan orang banyak di masa yang akan datang.

Hhmmm...

Mana mungkin bisa.

Sekarang harus menatap masa depan. Memperbaiki sekarang demi memperbaiki yang sudah terjadi.

Aku tahu itu sulit, tapi setidaknya aku harus berusaha.

Ingat, kalau penderitaan yang aku alami nantinya akan jauh lebih menyakitkan, jikalau aku justru malah tidak melakukan apa-apa.

Finally

Going through my phone. And actually taking the steps to erase all the memories. It hurt like hell. But it had to be done. Moving forward in my life now. And I'm excited to see what's in store for me. It's a fresh start. A new me!! A better me!! And I'm already on the right track!!! Weighed myself the other day at the doctors and found out I've already lost 20lbs since I started my journey to better myself. Twenty, 2-0!!! Im so happy!! I know I can do this!! And I get to rub it in the face of the people who didn't believe I could do it. Well...I'm doing it!!! New me, new life, new adventures! Watch out world, Krystina is back and ready to take charge. I can do this :)

여기저기 두루 옮겨다닌 나로서, 종종 살던 동네를 다시 돌아갈 일이 생긴다. 그게 항상 반갑지만은 않다.

난 한국을 어린 나이에 떠나, 방학때마다 돌아가곤 했다. 매번 돌아갈때마다 변화의 속도에 숨이 턱 막히곤 했다. 어릴 적 살던 현대 아파트가 휘황찬란한 현대 I-PARK로 변해있고, 자주 가던 동네 슈퍼마트 자리에 대기업이 운영하는 소형 마트가 들어선 것을 보고 마음이 참 많이 허했다.

내가 가장 사랑하는 도시, 싱가포르를 잊을 수 없다. 특히 내가 사랑했고 열렬히 일원으로 섬겼던 교회. 내 10대의 끝자락과 20대의 시작을 그곳에서 했던 만큼, 큰 의미가 있는 공동체다. 스무명 남짓 되는 작은 모임부터 시작해 100명이 훌쩍 넘는 청년부가 되어가는 과정을 나는 두 눈으로 똑똑히 보았다.

2015년 말 싱가포르를 떠나 미국으로 올 당시, 몇개월 후에는 다시 돌아갈거라 믿었다. 실제로도 그럴 예정이었다. 그래서 나는 별 대수롭지 않다고 생각했고, 삐까뻔쩍한 송별회 같은 것도 없었다. 내심 이기적인 마음에 기대도 했지만, 공항에 마중 나온 사람도 없었다. (낮이라서 근무때문에 마중 나가지 못해서 미안하고 아쉽다며 문자를 보낸 사람만은 도무지 잊혀지질 않는다.)

하지만 의도치 않게 미국 생활이 길어졌다. 그러다가 ���학을 맞아 싱가포르에 돌아간 적이 있었다. 태평양을 건너 돌아온 나를 얼마나 반가워해줄까, 기대감에 가득 차있었다. 결과는 정반대였다. 청년부에 내가 기억하는 사람은 몇 남아있지 않았고, 그들마저도 예배 준비에 분주한 나머지 나는 뒷전이었다. 아직도 기억한다. 오랜만에 돌아온 나에게 누군가가 건넨 인삿말은 다름 아닌 "어, 왔네?"였다.

하염없이 슬펐고 공허했다. 난 분명 그들 중 하나였다고 생각했었기에. 현재 진행형인 추억이라고 생각했지만, 사실은 완성된 과거 속 인물에 가까웠다. 그럼에도 누군가를 탓할 수가 없었다. 물리적인 (그리고 심리적인) 거리로 인해 난 잊혀지는 것이 옳은 존재였고, 그 공동체는 꾸준히 앞으로 나아가야만 하니까.

그래서인지 나는 지난 과거를 다시 찾아나서는 걸 그리 좋아하진 않는다. 아마 사람들이 오랜 첫사랑을 (다시 만나고 싶어하는 마음보다는) 다시 만나고 싶지 않아하는 마음이 큰 것과 비슷할지도 모른다.
