Mixed a couple things I like together, that being Kirby and the Friendlocke.  Both contain lightbulb eaters. Wasn’t too sure about the lighting so I’ll do both. @saltydkart-reblogs

Smoked apple hand pies
Premade pastry or croissant dough
Granny Smith apples
Applied pie spices
Sage, fresh or powdered
Maple sugar or syrup
Cheddar, muenster cheese
Salt
Sauteed butter and sage, cook down apples with spices and a dash of syrup and water and shred in cheese with a grater and mix until semi melted
Roll out the dough and preheat the smoker to 200° using cherry, maple or apple wood chips
Place filling in dough, fold over and pinch edges
In a small bowl mix a pinch of baking soda in water and use a pastry brush to apply on top of dough
Sprinkle kosher or coarse salt on top
Half way through cooking repeat basting the dough with the baking soda water
Cook until solidly golden brown
Cool and eat.
Edit
Pie dough gives a more poptop vibe when done neatly

13/December - end of the semester 🍂☕
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i cannot believe today was my last day of classes, this is insane. this semester flew by even faster than the previous ones, it's getting out of hands
Today was okay. We had a presentation, it went really well, it was clear the prof thought we had the best work, but he was also more tough with the questions bc of that😭 but it's okay. When we left i could feel my brain melting, but thankfully the universe realized i needed a break and that break came in the form of food ahaha Our department had so many snacks, i didn't even know that we were going to have a tiny end of semester celebration today. it was so nice, and it's fun to see our profs in a more casual setting. I literally had coffee with my biomechanics prof from last year😭
Anyways, not much more to update you on rn, but expect more posts soon (maybe even a challenge?). I've been so busy this semester i barely posted, but this next month i'll be just studying for my exams, so i guess I'll have more energy for this :))

.
How many of those Pastéis de Nata did we eat… that wouldn’t have been nice to count.
Plus we needed to sample the different recipes to make a fair assessment.
Pastéis de nata were created before the 18th century by Catholic monks at the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos. At the time, convents and monasteries used large quantities of egg whites for starching clothes such as friars and nuns’ religious habits. It was quite common for monasteries and convents to use the leftover egg yolks to make cakes and pastries, resulting in the proliferation of sweet pastry recipes throughout the country.
In the aftermath of the Liberal Revolution of 1820, following the dissolution of religious orders and in the face of the impending closure of many convents and monasteries, the monks started selling pastéis de nata at a nearby sugar refinery to bring in revenue. In 1834, the monastery was closed and the recipe sold to the sugar refinery, whose owners in 1837 opened the Fábrica de Pastéis de Belém. The descendants own the business to this day. Since the opening of Fábrica de Pastéis de Belém, the original recipe of the pastel de nata is kept in a secret room. The Fábrica de Pastéis de Belém sells over 20,000 pastéis de nata a day.
In 2009 The Guardian listed pastéis de Belém as one of the 50 "best things to eat" in the world.  In 2011, following the result of a public vote, the pastry was announced as one of Portugal's Seven Wonders of Gastronomy, further cementing it as one of the country's most popular national dishes.
