just finished season 3. I will be choosing to ignore the last few minutes and I will pretend that arthur and john drive away while eating the bread. its sourdough and arthur discusses different types of bread and why he does and doesn't like each. arthur explains sourdough starters to john and john is throughoughly horrified. then arthur explains everything that happened while john was gone. then once in a normal area they stop at a motel and arthur has a real shower. then they go to a pharmacy and arthur more properly bandages and cleans his stomach wound. then they go to a burger place which arthur absolutely devours and explains how incredible they are to john. they get something sweet with it, perhaps a cookie or a brownie to make up for arthur's blood loss. if not, a coke. then they drive off into the sunset happily ever after!!!!!!!!!

While the kid—Danny—took care of his business, Jason busied himself with getting the pancake batter mixed up, mind whirling with the thoughts he'd set aside the night before. Questions about how Danny had gotten to Gotham, how he'd gotten into Jason's apartment, and how the kid had done whatever it was he'd done tangled and spun around inside his head, mixing with thoughts and theories about what, exactly, had happened last night. He knew he'd probably have to tread lightly with the conversation topics at first, the kid looked like something a half dead cat dragged in and would most likely be standoffish at best. Jason knew himself, though, and with how badly he wanted answers, well... He wasn't sure how well he'd be able to handle taking the slow approach this time around. He'd just have to do his best and hope to high heaven that he didn't drive Danny away by being too pushy.

Danny made his way into the kitchen just as Jason was mixing the last of the big lumps out, causing Jason to grin. "Good timing," he said, setting the bowl down on the counter, shuffling a few steps over to turn the range on at a low heat. He bent to dig his pancake skillet out of the cupboard, he didn't make pancakes often enough to keep it readily available, though he did make sure to bring it every time he moved safe houses. A good pancake skillet was hard to come by, and he refused to dishonor Alfred's special pancake recipe by using a subpar pan if he could get away with it. "So, Danny, what do you like in your pancakes? I've got a few bananas that haven't gone bad, some walnuts, chocolate chips, one of my brothers left a jumbo container of peanut butter M&Ms last time they were over, and I've got some precooked bacon we could crisp up to crumble and throw in if that's your fancy." Jason glanced over his shoulder as he stood up with the pan in hand, pausing when he saw Danny's wide eyed expression. "What?"

"You... You can put all that stuff inside your pancakes?" Danny asked in shock. His big blue eyes seemed to shimmer with barely contained awe, his shaggy hair and oversized blue hoodie combining with the expression to make the kid seem even younger than he likely was.

Jason carefully sat the pan down on the range before turning to Danny with a raised eyebrow. That protective something was rising in his chest again, and he wasn't sure he wanted to stop it. "Kid, we can put all of that and more in our pancakes, if we want to. Who's gonna stop us?" Even with his crappy childhood, Jason had known you could add things to pancake batter before Bruce had taken him in! He'd never done it before that point, but that was excusable in his opinion. Not knowing it was possible in the first place wasn't.

After a filling breakfast of chocolate chip and bacon pancakes, with milk and applesauce packets so their meal was a tad bit more balanced than it otherwise would be, Jason finally decided to try getting some answers from the adorable kid who had mysteriously entered, and likely saved, his life. He just wasn't entirely sure how to start. Over breakfast, they'd asked each other some basic getting-to-know-you questions, so Jason knew Danny was ten and liked space, heroes, and the color mars red, and Danny knew Jason was twenty-one and liked books, guns, and the color burnished gold. How was he supposed to move the conversation in the direction he wanted to take it without just outright changing subjects? He must be more out of practice with social interactions than he'd thought if he was struggling this badly.

Luckily, though, it seemed Danny had no problems with getting down to business. "Alright, you said you had questions. I'm assuming most of them are about what happened last night and the rest are about me. Am I right?" He was a blunt little bugger, too.

"Pretty much," Jason said, nodding.

Danny nodded as well. "Right, well, we can do this the kinda quick and fairly messy way, or the much slower and more complete way. Which would you prefer?"

Jason raised an eyebrow at that. "I'm assuming one of those is me asking questions and you answering them?"

"Yep, and the other is me just starting from the beginning and answering any questions at the end," the kid agreed. Danny looked him dead in the eyes. "I don't have anywhere to be for at least the next few hours, but I don't know if you do, so you get to decide how we do this."

He thought about it, and the repercussions of both options. The "quick" and dirty method would theoretically get his questions answered quicker, but was liable to give him more questions and end to taking longer than either really wanted it to, while the "longer" and cleaner method would take longer to answer his questions, but would also give him most of, if not all, the context he'd need to actually understand the answers to his questions, and potentially be quicker in the long run at that. Jason nodded, decision made. "Let me tell my family I'm alright, then we'll start from the beginning, yeah? And we should probably move to the couch, it'll be more comfortable than the dinner table."

As a new Cillian fan, and a longtime fan of whump, I have a question...I see a lot of whumpy GIFs of Cillian injured and hurt, but I was wondering, are there any movie scenes where Cillian comforts or looks after somebody else who has been hurt? 🙈 I have seen Peaky Blinders and Oppenheimer, but I still have to work my way through the rest of his work 😳 I would appreciate any pointers. And that is a very good question... I know of a few scenes that might fit what you're looking for, but admittedly I still need to make my way through a large portion of his work as well, so this is by no means comprehensive haha. If anyone else has any to add, please feel free!

Slight spoilers for various films below the cut.

Off the top of my head, there's one EXTREMELY brief scene in Sunshine where he (kinda sorta?) comforts one of his fellow astronauts after a whole lot of scary space shit goes down and they both get hurt. Idk, she's not very comforted by him, but he... tries(?) This one is definitely a stretch.

A Quiet Place Part II has some scenes that might fit the bill a bit more. In various scenes, he picks up and carries several people who have been hurt or are in danger. (Honestly it is worth watching the movie for this aspect alone, imo, if you're like me and enjoy fantasizing about getting carried around by strong men) *ahem* In another scene, he reaches out to comfort a small child who appears to be in distress. He also has a very sweet, fatherly figure type of relationship with the main character in this movie, who has been through a lot of emotional pain. But I would say it's more of a "they help each other find comfort" kind of vibe than exclusively "him comforting someone else."

I feel like 28 Days Later might be the best for what you're looking for, out of the films I've seen. I can't tell you why without giving away basically the entire plot, but a few minor scenes throughout and one big one specifically near the end give me these vibes.

But honestly, I have to admit that I'm kind of struggling to come up with moments where he's comforting someone else but isn't also hurt himself haha. Apparently we just all love beating this poor guy up too much.

So here's something I thought abt Friday

What if their was an another and WAY more disturbing way to merge with your element

What if when an elemental master starts to lose their mind and drive into insanity there's like stages of what's going to happen to their element. At first, their element starts to act out, but slowly like once every 5 days, then if the elemental master's mental health has done nothing but deteriorate, then I'm the element just starts lashing out and complete going after the stuff and ppl around the elemental master as a way to WARN the elemental master to stop and get the help they need. But if nothing happens then the element slowly starts to merge with the elemental master and they won't realize it until the transformation is more than halfway done and by then, there's nothing they can do abt it besides let it happen unwillingly. And once the merging part is completely finished, the elemental master starts to slowly lose their memories bc it's the only thing the element can do to put the elemental master out of their misery. Once their memories are completely erased, they're officially one with their element and don't question it at all. Unlike Nya, who did manage to separate herself from her element, the elemental master that went insane CANNOT separate from their element or remember anything from their past, no matter what happens, they're just stuck there for the rest of eternity.

currently thinking about ta!matty making his debut as music industry event arm candy

LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN this is the scene that i hold so near and dear to me. i almost don't even know how i would write it, when in their timeline i would write it, even if i should even dare write it i love it so much. it is going to be such a big deal for george-- he's going to be so happy and show him off for every camera.

the idea of matty getting all dressed up very Classic Black Tie (bc he can't wear the suit jacket with the elbow patches no matter how much george tells him he should. that's for the faculty luncheon, george. not the brit awards or whatever) with his new glasses (his prescription changed again.) and thin silver hoop earrings and nervous smile, standing by the front door waiting for george to finish getting ready (Matty got dressed about two hours too early he was so nervous). then down walks man of the hour, guest of the evening, george daniel in his typical loose-legged trousers that are tight at the waist with the cleanest creases, shirt that is barely buttoned, all his accessories (rings, necklaces, bracelet, and one very delicate silver dangly earring), and the brightest happiest smile.

george typically hates going to music industry events so he is thrilled to be going with someone he can talk to (not mention someone he's in love with). meanwhile matty has never had someone interview him before without the end goal being scholarship money so he doesn't know what he's going to do if someone asks him a question about something that isn't george... lucky everyone there loves matty and keeps pestering george why he didn't bring him along sooner.

WHUMPTOBER is a month-long, prompt-based creation challenge (think: Inktober, but whumpier). There are 31 official themes this year - one for each day of the month - which can be used, skipped, or combined in any way you’d like. They are meant to serve as inspiration without being taken literally (e.g. you don’t have to include the exact wording of prompts into your work). Feel free to run rampant on interpretation. For example, if the prompt is “flame", you could create something with reference to a candle/campfire, your character could have suffered a burn, or the flame could be a reference to an ‘old flame’ - an old relationship. It’s truly down to you!

In total, there are 4 prompts for each day. These are optional suggestions and can be used in conjunction with the theme, or as options/alternatives.  We want to give everyone as much creative freedom as possible, as well as increase event accessibility for folks with triggers and squicks. There is also a list of 15 alternative prompts that can be subbed in for any day, again to give participants as much creative freedom as possible.

Creators can PRODUCE work in any media they choose, including but not limited to: writing, visual artwork, photo/video/audio edits, paper crafts and elaborate recommendation lists (not just a list of links). Creators can PARTICIPATE as much or as little as they want (i.e. you don’t have to do ALL the prompts if you don’t want to) and prompts can be used in any order. They are also free to use even after the event ends.

When uploading Whumptober content to your blog, be sure to tag it with:

July: Trope voting form released. Late August: Prompt list is released for at least four weeks of preparation time. Tropes cannot be posted earlier than August 25th because of Moderator obligations in real life. (But, you know, go ahead and start writing/drawing, and add the themes in later, if you want!) September: Do as much or as little on your works as you want. You can prepare everything in advance or let September go by with vibes and start working in October. It’s up to you. October 1st: Challenge begins! A storm of whump breaks upon us all! During this time, some posts will be reblogged to the whumptober archive blog. We open the yearly AO3 collection for posting (optional). November 1st: The challenge is officially over! Completionist form opens for those who want to be included in the hall-of-fame. Early November: We release completionist and participant badges, solicit feedback, and post a hall-of-fame list of completionists by the 10th.

PARTICIPATION AND COMPLETION

Q: What counts as participation? Create or continue at least one work inspired by one of this year’s prompts. Q: What counts as completion? Creating work(s) inspired by at least one prompt from each day (or alts), for a total of 31 unique prompts. Q: Do I need to create 31 works? No. You can, if you want. Or you can create one work that you add to every day with a new prompt. Or several works that combine prompts. You can also update an existing work by adding new material with the current prompts. Q: Do I need to post my works somewhere to be a completionist or a participant? No. Q: How do you know I actually completed the challenge? We’ll take your word for it! Q: Do I have to finish my work(s) to be a completionist? No, you can post WIPs. And you’re not obligated to finish them in October, but if you want it to count towards being a completionist, you must have completed 31 prompts by the end of the month. So for example, if you’re writing a long fic and you fit 31 different prompts into the writing you did in October, it’s okay if that fic isn’t finished by the time October ends, you’ll still be a completionist. Q: Is co-writing/illustrating allowed? Yes, absolutely, and it would count towards being a completionist for both/all of you. Q: Is there a min/max limit on word count for written works? No. Q: Is there a min/max limit of quality for art? No. Q: Do I have to do something each day to be a completionist? No! Artworks, GIFsets, headcannons, rec lists, poetry, moodboards, or any other creative work is encouraged. Q: Can I combine Whumptober with other creation challenges? Absolutely, as long as the other challenges allow it too.

PROMPTS

Q: How do the prompts work? There are FOUR prompts per day: a theme and three ideas. You can use one, two, three, or all four prompts for each day. If you don’t like any of the daily prompts, you can substitute one of the ALT prompts instead. Q: How strictly/literally should we interpret the prompts? As literally or as figuratively as you want. For example, if the theme is WATER, that could mean drowning, waterboarding, raining, swimming, take place underwater, be lost at sea, construct a metaphor about a character’s mood that changes like a flowing river, crying, or whatever else you can think of that fits that theme. Q: Can I combine prompts? Is there a limit on how many? No limit and combine as many as you’d like. If you create a work that checks off multiple prompts, that work will count for a fill of multiple prompts. You need to address 31 different prompts to be an official completionist, but you don’t have to produce 31 separate works.

However, no participant has to prove whumpiness to the mods. Whatever you write is up to you. Q: What kind of characters can I create for? Anything. Generic “whumpee,” OC, PC, NPC, major characters, minor characters, or whatever you want. There are no limits. Q: Does it have to take place in a specific fandom? No, you can create works for your own worlds or for fandoms or for both. You can also create more generic or pan-fandom works. You can do cross-overs or use OCs, whatever you want. Q: Can I create AI-created works? We will not reblog or promote any works we know to be generative AI-created. Q: Is there anything we’re not allowed to write? As long as it contains whump and is based on our prompts, it’s fine. Please courtesy tag your works if you post them so people who follow the #whumptober2024 tag can filter according to their preferences. Q: What about sex, minor characters, and potentially disturbing content? You can create whatever works are legal in your country and post them accordingly. Q: Where can I post my work? Post where and how you want. You don’t even have to (cross)post it to Tumblr. Just keep in mind if it’s not on Tumblr we will not be able to add it to the blog archive. There is an AO3 archive for Whumptober 2024, as well as the parent collection for works completed outside of the event. Q: Can I start posting early? You can, but this is an October event and wouldn’t it be more fun with everyone doing it at the same time? We won’t be reblogging any work predating October 1st. Q: Can I post late? Yes. For the sake of our hardworking Post Fairies, only a day’s themes will be reblogged to @whumptober-archive each day of October. But you can post whenever. Some of us are still working on and posting Whumptober fics from years ago. Q: Do I have to use your tags? Only on Tumblr and only if you want us to reblog your work on @whumptober-archive. Q: How do I have my works reblogged to the archive? Properly tagged posts will be reblogged to @whumptober-archive. If you want the official archive blog to reblog you, post on Tumblr and tag correctly (see this FAQ link for more info on tagging). Please note not all posts will be reblogged each day. Q: Can we @ you? For questions and comments, of course. We’ll be getting a flood of notifications, so if you really want us to see something send an ask. Q: Can I cross post on other blogs? You can also post different works to different accounts under different names, without posting them everywhere at once.
