parmakshir dynamic that starts out like my best friend's wedding, like he wants to hate this guy for being too perfect but julian is just so charming. you can't not like him. he sings karaoke real bad and wins over the crowd. parmak is in "kitten thinks of nothing but murder" mode until finally he can't resist julian's charms anymore and then idk they have a threesome about it who knows

side note i REALLY like how lenn (eitch) does it in "from the rubble" and it's not just because of the fact that medical school jokes apparently translate cross-culturally and it's so goddamn funny and cute:

- My hands are very steady, Julian said seriously.

- Yes, and I'd actually love to find out more about this, so if the lecturer would stop fiddling with the projector and actually distribute the handouts?

so the thing i find fascinating about the parmakshir dynamic is the ONLY thing we have canonically about dr. parmak is

male doctor (unusual on cardassia)

garak interrogated him and he was sent to a prison camp as a result

i absolutely get why andy snagged him for ASIT and why una ran with it even further, because there is obviously a lot to work with there, in the garmak dynamic alone. BUT the postcanon parmakshir implications are great too.

no matter how you hc the garmak relationship prior to parmak being imprisoned, i think there is a reason tain brings him up specifically, and it's not just that garak supposedly broke him by just staring silently. tain is calculated and he knows garak's pain points. he mentions parmak, mentions he's been released, jokes about visiting him. there is SOMETHING there, whether it was just that garak had a crush, or something deeper.

if parmak and garak become friends post-canon (a dynamic i am SUPER into), you have this sort of...garak feels like he owes parmak more than he could ever possibly repay him. what kind of dynamic does that lead to, amongst the three of them? there's a lot of very wholesome permutations in fic but i want to see more where it's complicated and maybe a bit tragic.

Okay I'm going to skip over the ones that are currently being posted because you can go look at those if you want. Here's what's in my google docs:

Julian just being a general menace to creepy old man Tain in prison and in the process, realizing that he and Garak actually do have feelings for each other.

What if "Extreme Measures" but Garak was the sidekick and instead of going into his brain, they fuck in front of him? We report, you decide. This is going to be Sloan POV and a bit crack but hopefully also hot, creepy, and disgusting.

Various Defiant first-time scenarios. oh my god they were bunkmates!!!!

The one where they DON'T get blasted with sex pollen, but have to spend two hours in a quarantine cell together so they end up fucking anyway

The one where they crash on an alien planet that expects them to reenact an ancient fertility ritual, and they are EXTREMELY normal about it

Followup to "Don't Rain On My Parade" where they fuck and confess their feelings. I'll get there eventually.

Post-canon where Garak comes to DS9 for diplomatic meetings. I don't wanna say anything else about this one but it's got a very funny premise and I can't wait to inflict it on everyone.

Risa fic. They're fake dating. Garak's trying to stop a terrorist attack, or so he claims. This one has everything!!!

PWP one-shot on the assumption that Julian only avoided sleeping with Garak because he knew he might be outed as an augment that way. As soon as the DBIP situation is sorted, he comes over and drags him to bed. Fun concept, bit angsty, definitely want to finish this one soon.

Something post-canon that plays with this idea that Garak and Julian are, in fact, both deeply infatuated and deeply anxious about their relationship working out and consequently are just so, so insane about each other and constantly playing mind games on themselves. I came up with an ENTIRE concept for why Julian's there, etc etc and then I just ran out of steam, but I'm going to get back to this one for sure.

A few Parmakshir and/or Garmakshir cut scenes from longer postcanon works that I intend to publish separately for people who don't like Parmak being Involved (TM) with them, but simply could not contain in my head.

The one where they play "Mystery of the Druids" in the holosuite. Why? Because I said so.

The one where they bring in a Vulcan healer to mind-meld and try to bring Julian out of his coma after the Lethean attack in "Distant Voices," and she's unable to get through his subconscious defenses, so they start sending his friends in as middlemen and that fails too, until finally the only volunteer who hasn't tried yet is Garak.

The one where Julian sees a vision of himself in the future and tries to figure out why he looks so happy.

The one where Vic insists on singing "Baby, It's Cold Outside" and Garak and Julian's conversation about it turns out to be surprisingly revealing. This one's going to be a Christmas fic, but I've got bits of it written.

I am excited about all of them to varying degrees, I think. Welcome to my twisted mind.
