Imagine: K-Drama remake of “The Walking Dead”

1) The show would be 20 episodes long and would cover the first two seasons of the original series.

2) Storyline is mostly the same, with changes being to fit the different setting/culture. Also, the teases to season 3 are removed just in case the drama doesn’t get renewed. So, no Michonne or the shot of the prison in the distance.

3) Lee Jung-Jae (Seong Gi-hun from Squid Game, Sol from The Acolyte) as the equivalent to Rick Grimes. In this version, he is a police officer from Yangpyeong County. I chose that county since if Seoul becomes the equivalent of Atlanta, he has to be from an area not too far from the city.

4) Han Hyun Min (So Not Worth It) as the equivalent to Glenn Rhee. Since you obviously can’t do the scene where Glenn has to correct Daryl Dixon by saying that he’s Korean, Glenn in this version is played by a Korean-Nigerian actor. So Daryl’s ignorance in this version would probably be something along the lines of him saying that Glenn is Ethiopian or a black American.

5) The Rick-Lori-Shane love triangle gets more of a kdrama vibe, so maybe we might actually get to see how Rick fell in love with Lori and how Shane began to lust after her.

6) Ryoo Seung-bum (Frank from Moving) as the equivalent to Daryl Dixon.

7) Ju Ji-hoon (Lee Chang from Kingdom) as the equivalent to Shane Walsh.

8) Song Hye-kyo (Moon Dong-eun from The Glory) as the equivalent to Lori Grimes.

9) Steven Yeun (original Glenn Rhee) makes a cameo appearance as the army zombie inside the tank. The one who Rick gets the grenade from.

10) Park Ji-hu (Nam On-jo from All of Us Are Dead) as the equivalent to Maggie Greene

11) Park Sung-Woong (Kim Myeong-gil from Bloodhounds) as the equivalent to Merle Dixon

12) Song Kang-ho (Kim Ki-taek from Parasite) as the equivalent to Hershel Greene

13) Han Hyo-joo (Lee Mi-hyun from Moving) as the equivalent to Andrea

14) Chun Ho-jin (Seo Tae-su from My Golden Life) as the equivalent to Dale Horvath

15) Kim Joo-ryoung (Han Mi-nyeo from Squid Game) as the equivalent to Carol Peletier

16) As stated above, Atlanta is changed to Seoul

that moment, when you come across a new kdrama called "Dong Jae, the Good or the Bastard" (2024) while still healing from the unhealthy amount of (b)romance that you've been subjected to in "Black Out - Snow White Must Die" (2024), and think to yourself "Why not try to distract yourself from NohGoh by immersing yourself into a new Series?".

And there definitely would be no problem at all with it, because

"Seo Dong Jae is a prosecutor and works in the Cheongju District Prosecutors’ Office. He is ambitious and places a priority on his success as a prosecutor. Nevertheless, he is not completely cold hearted as a person. Due to the label given to him as a corrupt prosecutor, his future as a prosecutor is not bright at all. While mired in trouble over a redevelopment case, he takes on a high school student murder case. He begins to walk a fine line between his intuition as a prosecutor and instinct as an opportunist."

because no second character was mentioned in the synopsis,

because who the hell would you even ship with that slippery eel.

And to be honest: I did enjoy the first two episodes. But.....

I don't know if it's just me.

But,

I don't know if it is just my imagination.

But,

dear producers, dear director, dear cast; WHAT THE FRIGG IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE:

Why do you have to threaten him from less than 20 cm away? I did not sign up for intimate threats. I want a full out rivalry. With lots of hate. Not whatever that is.

Let him drive off in peace, for f*cks sake. I don't want this half-assed kabedon shit.

And no, he doesn't shove dear Dong Jae off him, he gently places his hand on his chest. He. Gently. Places. And. Then. PATS. HIS. CHEST.

Park Sung Woong, I don't know whether to love or hate you. Because I expected this:

Mini-review:

I've been obssesed with the Mafia game for years, so I was really excited when this sort-of-adaptation was announced. But tbh, it's nothing extraordinary. While it's very fun and it keeps you glued to the screen, it's also very silly. What's more, pretty much all the characters are incredibly dumb and frustrating. Although I have to say that's part of what makes the show fun. You just can't help but stick around to see how these characters mess things up even more. Hell, they make so many stupid decisions that I actually found myself screaming at the TV more times than I'd like to admit. Some of the twists did catch me by surprise, but the ending was... not good. I had already guessed the writer would pull something like that, but it was actually worse than I expected. Anyway, Night Has Come isn't good, but I had a fun watching it and it kept me entertained, so that's something.

GENRES: Action, Drama

SUMMARY: A dedicated, yet frustrated cop uses the inside knowedge of a bombing survivor to track down an infamous drug dealer and his crew.

THIS SHOW HAS EVERYTHING: Korean sign language, loyal dogs, disguises, accidental overdoses, resistant bosses, high-speed chases, drug labs, nudity, seminary graduates, plea deals, snowy roads, and guns. LOTS of guns.

HOT TAKE: I'm not sure if it's because I rarely sit down to watch movies these days or if this movie was just kinda 'meh' overall anyways. So many characters were introduced and then just killed off, ones that stayed around weren't really explored enough, and those that mattered to the plot were given minimal motivations.

I saw that Believer 2 is being released soon, but I'm still not sure if this first installment was enough to make me care about sitting down for more.
